This is the "Murderbot Diaries 2.0" fan discord server's third annual Comment Bingo event. Everyone is welcome to participate! This event fosters community engagement and connection by sparking Murderbot fans to share their appreciation with our amazing creators!

Players grab a random bingo card which will prompt them to check out fanworks across a breadth of mediums, styles, and tropes, leaving behind comments as they go. From August 18th to September 18th, see how many of the squares you can fill out! Can you get bingo?

How to Play

🎲 Selecting Your Bingo Sheet 🎲

There are 2 categories to pick from: General and Angst.

For general, use a random number generator to roll from 1-40

Go to the “General” bingo sheet folder, and select your sheet corresponding to the number you rolled.

If you want an angstier selection, roll numbers 1-14 and select from the “Angst” folder.

📝 Filling Out Your Bingo Sheet 📝

Each box on the bingo sheet is a prompt for either a type of work you should leave a comment on (i.e. "fic with <1000 words"), or a type of comment ("ask a question"). When you've completed the prompt, cross out the box.

One comment fulfills one box. So if you leave a comment asking a question on a “<1000 words” fic, this comment can count for either “ask a question” OR “<1000 words”, but not both.

A “comment” to fulfill a bingo box can be: A comment on AO3, a reblog or reply on tumblr, a comment on a YouTube video, etc.

Do you happen to have any Piripu lore for the Piripu enthusiasts 👀

I feel like a broken record typing the things I'm about to type, however I realize a lot of the lore I have for Piripu has been sprinkled throughout my posts instead of being compiled in one place -- like I'm about to do now.

Before I start, I will note the "ownership" situation of Piripu is a little weird. By that, I mean that while I put out most, if not all, art and writing of Piripu, he still belongs to my buddy Dave (shorting to MBD from now on). With that in mind, the things I'm writing may be subject to change depending on what MBD thinks. The following is what I think his lore is.

The basic gist of his backstory: Piripu was once a Wayfarer (player character from Journey), white-robed, who guided others. One day, on his lonesome, he was attacked and killed by war machines. This time around, the process of being reborn/revived took a long time, and by the time Piripu came back to the world, a new society had been born and died (the Kingdom of Sky).

Upon rebirth, he was found by two familiar yet strange figures in the Valley of Triumph. These two are Odiwa and Kucevoz. These two would serve as Piripu's caretakers while he got his bearings. Unable to recognize the "new" world he was born into, the first and main part of Piripu's character arc/story revolves around him trying to return to his world (where he was once a Wayfarer).

Once Piripu was more confident in his new body, he snuck away from Odiwa and Kucevoz and later befriended Mufotsuki -- his first friend and de facto guide in the world.

Other things about Piripu -- you can think of these as fun facts or headcanons:

He is developmentally around 13-15 years old, a little less than a year younger than Mufotsuki.

He likes crabs, and even has a pet crab named Roast, who he saved from an abandoned crab cookout.

He is actually slightly shorter than Mufotsuki, though his hair always makes him look taller.

This one is more in the headcanon zone, but it's possible that "Piripu" is not the name he had as a Wayfarer. I currently like to think that "Piripu" as a name was given to him by Odiwa and Kucevoz. The name didn't really stick until he had to introduce himself to Mufotsuki.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Piripu can speak two languages. First is "Wayfarer" (often represented by glyphs in comics where Piripu speaks it), and the second is just common Spirit language, used by the majority of the Kingdom of Sky.

(The events of the comic above aren't really canon, but show a good example of Piripu speaking his first language).

They all seem to know who they are, what they want, and where they belong. Three does... not. Not anymore. It's trying to figure that out.

Happy new year! This is my Murderbot New Years Exchange gift for @imaginariumgeographica. Every single one of your prompts was Fascinating (and I might have another fic about PresAux down the line inspired by your other prompts that I didn't get a chance to finish), but you gave me an excuse and encouragement to think about Three - what Three was doing during and after System Collapse, what it would choose to do now, and what its relationship with Holism might look like. It was great getting inside Three's head and just, wondering what it's feeling about all this, and what it will want to do now.

Words and Fics On AO3

29,868 words, of which 27,560 were actually fic (excluding meta and fanart image descriptions)

12 fanworks, of which 8 were new fics, 2 were fanart, 1 was meta, and 1 was a new chapter to a previously existing fic.

All for Murderbot, except for Things in the Shadows, my Witch King fanfic (and first foray into non-murderbot fic!)

My lifetime AO3 wordcount (since spring 2022) is 55,365

My lifetime actual written wordcount of Murderbot fanfic is somewhere on the order of 250,000 (give or take some duplicate drafts that are getting counted twice in scrivener)

Top Fics by Kudos

My actual top fics by kudos are mostly from 2022

Of the ones published/updated this year, An Unexpected Quarter wins. This is the one that I originally published in 2022 and updated with a surprise second chapter in 2023, so I think the age bias for kudos is still showing

The highest fic originally published in 2023 is Operation Parsec, which is 10th on the overall list. It's also the literal first fic I posted that year, as it was written for the New Years gift exchange. Yeah, I think my kudos rankings are almost entirely based on age

Last year's Murderbot Diaries New Years Gift exchange ( @mbd-gift-exchange ), for which I wrote Operation Parsec for Lillow and received this gorgeous artwork from @acornwizard!!

My gift project for this year's New Years gift exchange!

maybe that "Murderbot has a cat" fic that I already wrote most of but have been wanting to polish up for months now?

A revisit to my semi-abandoned Three time travel fix-it where One and Two live, perhaps? I'm low on energy but SC did give me some new ideas...

putting aside the idea of agency in fiction & how people react to its theme in fictional characters the topic of mbd & your url reminded me. ac was kind of an emotional read for me i wonder how that rogue comfortunits doing. we see a lot of mbs perspective obviously but im curious as to how the universe functions outside of its coloring, like we already know it separates augmented humans from humans in a way that humans themselves dont bc of the threat level to it... on the comfortunit side of things there is so much left vague that when you compare it to the framework mb had to work within is both curious and horrifying. setting aside the horrifying stuff for a second what the hell would actual patches for a comfortunit look like. NEW THIS UPDATE: -added pathways to help humans deal with 2 New stages of Grief (Astral Projection and Turbodenial) -Removed ability to Milk Their Prostate at 35mph after it was deemed too dangerous

artificial condition is one of my faves of the series! it's insanely hard to pick favorites and that speaks to just how well-constructed this series is (where is the beginning! and where is the end?! this stretching forward of events, it's so beautiful and seamless and such an experience in emotion, so raw and direct from the source like wow this feels real, this is someone discovering emotion, embracing it!!)

i adore the comfortunits, and i've talked before about how reading this series makes me feel as a sexworker, as a kind of alterhuman/otherhearted 'actual' comfortunit, but i can't remember if it was on this blog or starblaster. if i find the posts i'll edit this ask and add them.

Drew my hero and partner Pokemon for blue rescue team! This is my hero, Hiroshi( A Japanese name that means "light".)

Unfortunately her father back in the human world was a massive sack of shit, and she bears scars all over her limbs and back from lashings, as well as a burn scar over her right eye. Additionally, severe neglect and malnutrition caused her to develop MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease), which followed her into the Pokemon world. Basically, it causes her spine and tail to be crooked and kinked, and her left foot and right hand are permanently splayed out at an angle. She's very small and thin for a Cubone her age, especially considering she's a female which I hc are typically heavier than males in most reptile and amphibian-esque Pokemon. Her scales are duller and paler than most Cubone's, and she often gets stuck shed, especially on her limbs, back and tail. Her condition does greatly improve over time, as all the villagers chipped in to make sure she gets plenty of nutritious food, vitamins, ample basking time and rest. Initially Hiroshi is very shy and reserved due to her former abuse, but as time goes on and her confidence grows her true colors start to shine through. She's impish, brave, kind, has a great sense of humour, and loves to play pranks and make jokes. She can't stand any kind of injustice. Hiroshi can also be irresponsible at times and has a tendency to "act first, ask questions later". She's selectively mute, also due to her upbringing, and initially communicated only via sign language. As time went on she found her voice, but still often uses sign language instead of verbal when possible. Gengar sort ends up adopting her after his redemption arc and becomes extremely protective of her after learning her back story. As the years go by, she grows in both confidence as well as size, and ends up becoming this big, healthy, happy girly.

And this is Liana(Named after a type of rain forest vine), her partner!

Liana was orphaned at a young age, so all the Pokemon in her village looked after her. She's a very big, rotund, healthy little lady. Personality wise she's very thoughtful, sweet and intelligent. She prefers to carefully think things through before acting. Liana is very nurturing and often comes off as a mother hen. She definitely makes sure Hiroshi eats plenty, takes all her vitamins, and gets plenty of rest and sunlight. She tends to overthink everything and suffers from anxiety. She's felt lonely most of her life, despite always being well looked-after. Hiroshi was the first Pokemon who really understood her. Liana looks after Hiroshi and prevents her from charging head first into danger, while Hiroshi boots Liana's confidence and courage, and helps her to feel less lonely and anxious. After the events of the post-game, the villagers continue to look out for her, but Gardevoir takes on a strong maternal role towards Liana.
