you two have incredible chemistry on the court: together you keep every inch of the court defended, help protect each other's serve, set up the perfect point - everything you do, you do in sync. and if anyone wonders how, all they need to do is to see the subtle ways the two of you rely on each other during the match. yeonjun keeps a hand on your back as you whisper a strategy to him, as if to keep anyone from getting too close to you, and after winning a set you hug him a little longer than usual in relief. he carries your bag when you switch sides of the court, and you let him have first pick when the ballboys hand you a fresh batch of towels.

rumors swirl that the rising star doubles partners are secretly dating, which yeonjun denies a little too quickly when asked - you're his trusted partner, nothing else. he's built up his chemistry with you through hours of practice. but even as he says it, he can't help but steal a glance at you while you pretend to wipe your face with your towel to hide your growing smile.

but then it's the night before the finals of your tournament, and you're staying at a hotel close to the venue when you receive terrible news from your family. everything falls apart right then and there, the tournament doesn't even matter anymore, and you're crying so hard you can't even breathe. you call the first contact you think of - yeonjun - and ask him to come over. he doesn't need to know why for him to rush from his hotel room to yours.

once he sees your state he wraps you in his arms and makes you sit on the bed with him. you sob into his chest and he holds you close, one hand rubbing your back, letting you cry it out for as long as you need. when you separate from him he cradles your face in his hands and wipes away your tears, asking if there's anything you need, what he can do, if you're feeling well enough to play tomorrow - and yes, he would withdraw from the finals just to make sure that you're okay. you don't know what to do yet but you let him hold you, feeling safe in his arms even with all the pressure on your shoulders.

he overhears little cries and whimpers coming from the bedroom. is it your cries? he speeds his steps to check if you’re okay.

you are curled up in your shared bed. seems like you have been crying nonstop for a while. 

“baby, what happened?” yeonjun grabs your hands, pulling you into a hug.

you remain silent. waterfall still dripping from your eyes.

“it’s okay. let it all go. we don’t have to talk.”

you smush your head into his chest as your sobs grow louder. 

you feel useless. weak. perceived. you hate feeling like a burden. ever since you two started dating, you try your best to not let yeonjun see your (nearly weakly) breakdowns.

maybe you and beomgyu went to an arcade together and had the time of your lives, laughing and trying to one-up each other in all the games, but no matter who won it always ended with the two of you teasing each other, and then the loser finally admitting - with soft voices and smitten looks - that you're the best and they're glad to be with someone so good at games. the giant teddy bear, too, was you trying to beat him at a shooting game, but when beomgyu realizes that your score is close enough to win the grand prize, he starts cheering for you: "that's my baby!" and when you hit that high score he cheers as loudly as you do, arms wide open when you stumble into his hug.

and when you're away for work trips beomgyu always has the big teddy bear with him. during video calls he has the bear propped up next to him, calling it "our child," and you smile and laugh as if it really were your child. when the call finally ends and it's time for beomgyu to go to sleep, he cuddles the bear to bed, and as he drifts off to sleep he remembers that day at the arcade again - your face shining under the neon lights, your laughter brighter and warmer than any ray of sunshine.

ngl any time the boys get even remotely sick i want them to just PAUSE. bc you cant tell me that sleeping while getting your makeup/hair done is a sign of proper work balance. you cant tell me that finding ANY minute to sleep is a sign of proper work balance. you cant tell me dancing for most of the day EVERY day is a sign of proper work balance.

yes some of these things “come” with the job. but theyre HUMANS before theyre workers. theyre HUMANS before theyre money makers of a company.

the kpop industry never fails to disappoint me every single day. especially the fans. how can you SIT there and WANT them to work. yes i love txt with all my heart but if they so CHOOSE to leave the industry, i support it. idols need rest and the fact that fans would rather cover up signs of burnout/overworking rather than see these people as people is so mind boggling

how can u say one of the members looks tired but not want them to properly rest? i dont get it

if their schedule is considered "reasonable" by kpop standards then well those standards need to change. and yes sometimes sacrifices must be made on the job but you can't demand sacrifices all the time as a habit without consequences on the people doing those sacrifices. we don't see everything that happens behind the scenes of course, so we won't truly know how bad or how good things are, but burnout is so widespread even in non-entertainment industries. what more for the idol industry where everything is so fast-paced and competitive?

and this is true not just for txt but also their staff (who also work ridiculous hours for comebacks and scheds!) and other idol groups with similar or worse schedules + those groups' staff. i want all of them to rest and the industry to take care of everyone's long-term physical and mental health, even if it means less music and less content.

you huffed out a laugh at your husband, "a cold isn't gonna kill you baby." you commented while you arranged the bag of medicines, drinks and snacks you had brought for him. he folded his arms and gave you a stern look. you couldn't quite take him seriously when he spoke in a hoarse, cracked voice. "oh yeah? what if it does huh? then you're a widow! it hasn't even been a month, i thought i'd be able to brag about my hot wife for longer."

he pushed his bottom lip out in a pout sadly when you only smiled at his dramatics. "i'm not gonna be a widow gyu."

you pressed a quick peck to his pouty lips before rummaging through the bag to get his medicine. "well what if you divorce me because i look so gross?"

now that one made you laugh.

"gyu i've seen you looking far worse than just a red nose and some sniffles. remember that time you and yeonjun got blackout dr-"

"YES YES I REMEMBER. i thought we agreed not to talk about that time!" a hearty laugh broke through you at his protests. "i love you you know? i'm gonna be here no matter what. i don't care how gross you are."

beomgyu smiled at this, one of his little :> smiles that never failed to make you giggle. you finished up pouring the thick artificial cherry cold medicine into the measuring spoon and held it out to his lips. he looked between your eyes and the spoon sceptically, but you reached into the bag again to pull out his favourite soda. "i got you this to wash it down."

his heart fluttered at your gesture, taking the bottle and opening the lid ready to sip it. he felt a little overwhelmed by your care and attentiveness and let out a meek "i love you."

it's not like he wasn't used to your love and care, you had been together for a long time after all, but there was something about the love in your eyes and the shine of the ring on your finger that made him crumble inside.

he opened his mouth and let you feed him the medicine, wincing and scrunching his face up at the pungent taste, chugging the soda down to mask the flavour. "good boy." you chuckled, ruffling his hair and grabbing a small towel in some cool water before moving to your side of the bed.

"thank you for taking care of me, sorry you have to see me looking so gross." he said genuinely, no trace of humour in his tone this time.

"hey.. we said in sickness and in health didn't we?" you reassured him, pressing the fresh cold towel to beomgyu's forehead and using your other hand to smooth his dark hair, running your fingers through it gently.

he smiled gratefully and wiggled further into your bedsheets to get comfortable. you slid in the covers next to him, not getting too close.

"snuggles?"

it was like his head couldn't move fast enough when he started nodding, spreading his arms for you. with a grin you situated yourself on his chest and wrapped your arms around him, not caring if you got sick. you'd do whatever it takes to make your husband feel better.

and when you inevitably caught the cold, he did the same for you - gently taking care of you and loving on you until you were better <3

how could such different people be brought together? it's funny how destiny works.

it starts with something simple as how much of a rational thinker he is than you. you always think with your heart, prioritizing emotions over any deep thoughts. but he thinks and analyzes everything with many perceptions until his final word.

he prefers sleeping with the ac off, argumenting that ‘it's too cold already for a human being to possibly live’. but you feel hot just by thinking about covering yourself with the big duvets. 

it's not that you two disliked each other's differences. if anything, it was what made you fall for him even more.

but isn't that the way people usually fall in love? by the curiosity of one another?

every time you talked to him, you found yourself drawn to his round shaped eyes. full of knowledge and also some sort of childish mischief. maybe it was the deep brown shade that colored his pupils, that makes everything and anything he says sounds so smart.

finding yourself more and more curious every day to know more about him, you started to make a list - of course, mentally. you didn’t have the energy to write every single intriguing thing about him down on a piece of paper - of all the things that made him so especially beautiful to you.

maybe it all started with his very unique mannerisms. a cute scratch on the back of his neck every time he was unsure of something or just shy about a quick remark you made. the adorable and sweet sound of his laugh, that could make you do anything to play it on repeat. the passion and glitter on his eyes every time he talked about something that he found so interesting. oh, and you could also add another thing onto that: when he loves something, he loves it with all of his heart. there wasn’t a fifty fifty percent for him. he will either love it or dislike it.

and just maybe, that was what made taehyun love you so much. the confidence and sureness that he loved you more than anything in this world.

little did you know that in the same way you love to pay attention to what makes you two different, so did he. 

secretly learning how to cook your favorite homemade food, listening to this one album that you can’t stop talking about, memorizing your favorite colors, how you tend to get things easily confused and need to get it explained more than once. nothing goes unnoticed by him. 

taehyun loves how you could bring out a new side of him. a side that he wanted to keep for you and only to you. he could stay being ‘cold as antarctica’ to the world. he would be saving all the kisses on the forehead, sweet nothings and laughs at midnight for you.
