Stress Brawl was such a fantastic episode. Really elaborating on Hiromi's character. Hamster and Gretel at the very least is pretty good on building on previously established lore. It's satisfying when a typical joke gets referenced in a new context.

Seeing how Hiromi's reputation as a nice person, and her involvement in several activities actually stresses her out really added a layer of depth to her character. Hiromi was also established to have a more subtle cynical side that was annoyed by people's dependence on her. So it was good to see that expanded upon more as something that she represses.

Hiromi could very easily have been Kevin's "Nice but quirky" love interest but she's more than that and it's good to see. Not that Hiromi was ever that, but as she was quickly established as a character who existed beyond being Kevin's love interest. But seeing her continued development as a full fledged character raises the show's quality all around.

I think Hiromi serves a rather important anchoring role to the story as a well developed character who isn't involved in the superhero stuff or the Grant-Gomez family. She informs a lot of the high school setting and the stuff that goes on there. When it comes to saving the world type shows I find a well developed civilian cast is critical to giving the stakes weight. Her relationships with both Kevin and Fred also helps round out both characters by giving them someone who isn't each other to bounce off of.

Seeing Fred of course simply being Hiromi's friend and trying to support her is good to see. Not to mention how the fallout from her and Kevin's failed date was handled. Kevin has already been established to be a very stressed out person. Just he has a superhero little sister to deal with rather than a heap of extracurriculars. So it's interesting to see how they both had sort of similar reactions to their disaster date. Maybe one day they'll get together and be stressed about stuff together.

But for now Hiromi and Kevin is doomed by their inability to get on the same page. It's not Kevin's fault. It's not his fault he's got a part time job as a superhero coach and that his identity was revealed to an evil villain trying to take over the world thus making it impossible for him to commit to things or be honest about himself. It's not that Kevin didn't do anything wrong per se. Because a fake date was not the way to go. But he didn't have bad intentions. Usually fake dates are terrible because they're done out of an intent to manipulate the other person's feelings. But it was consensual on both members of the fake couple. And Kevin was doing it not to make Hiromi jealous in hopes of getting together with her, but to help them move on from the incident... which wasn't what she actually wanted. But Kevin genuinely had Hiromi's best interests in mind.

I don't think Hiromi is completely blameless in this either. Her refusal to talk to Kevin, instead just letting it go without any sort of catharsis left him unsure on how to actually proceed with their relationship in the way she wanted. But it's not her fault her crush stood her up with an empty explanation. Hiromi showed that she feels underappreciated, and she does deserve to have a boyfriend who actually makes her a priority. How could she know Kevin was literally kidnapped from their date.

But their relationship simply cannot proceed unless Hiromi finds out about Gretel's secret. And honestly, I suspect it's only a matter of time. This show isn't exactly stingy on the reveals. Though, even if the reveal happens, it won't necessarily fix everything. It's very possible Hiromi could still be hurt by Kevin (and Fred!!!) keeping a secret from her despite them being friends (I mean, Bailey knows). But only time will tell with how this plays out I suppose.

Y/N seems like a soft affectionate puppy and I feel like they would be clingy because of how easily they got attached to Dust. They are kinda like Yashiro Nene from TBHK, bubbly and dosn't think ahead and is kinda stupid and maybe cute, and their partner commits the most hanis crimes possible and they are like "He was having a bad day :("

The hero complex they have is also pretty interesting. I like the character we are represented by!

I know we technically Y/N, but I still have headcanons!

They seemed to get attached to Crimson and Dust very fast, and felt liked they owed Dust everything just because they messed up once, so I feel like they were probably a lonely person. People must not have paid any attention to them at all, because they got the littlest attention from two psychos and fell to their knees for them both. Maybe they were even ostracized from society because it seems like they have no friends and family to go to and no one is looking for them when they are kidnapped. It seems like they only have Dust and Crimson, and must have some sort of abandonment issues because they seem almost willing to die to sans to stay by his side.

When you think about them too long they are kinda tragic. They are throwing themself into an endless hell just to be loved and have affection while thinking they can completely fix everything with their flimsy morals. They seem so desperate to prove that they are good person, it seems to be the only thing that keeps them going.

keep in mind crimson only stepped in when y/n was literally on the brink of death. we don't want another emotionally dead vessel in our hands do we? no, y/n HAS to fight back. they'll help them stand their ground.

they stepped in ONLY when y/n was in legit danger. not before it when the two of them were all lovey dovey.

call them a hypocrite but seeing someone similar to them be able to get so emotionally close to dust when they have a clean slate gives them a sense of catharsis.

kinda like living the dream through watching this dumbass goody two shoes win over their rival.

they're envious and extremely jealous but seeing them have a shot? it's kinda fun for them.

like exploring a (what if I wasn't evil and didn't have bad blood with him) scenario through y/n.

they do project quite a bit on y/n. but sometimes y/ns choices genuinely gives crimson a headache.

as for why dust fell for them? it's not that he particularly LIKED y/n over anyone else or there was a special soul mate excuse. (I don't do soul mates lol)

he basically saw the as a wet cat/puppy that just followed him after he used them for his selfish benifit... and then he felt guilty for it.

so he gave them a small chance then was surprised how ATTACHED this human had become. he was slightly concerned. he knew this wasn't normal.

though it had been so long SO LONG that someone real talked to him or someone that wasn't trying to stab him would just... sit there.

one thing about loneliness is that you never really notice how much you were struggling with it until you have company.

then you realize: oh shit I am actually touch starved.

I feel Like Cody and Satine are kind of similar in a way both I see are very mature and chose duty for their people/Brothers over everything else and are stubborn to all hell I know if Cody and Satine would interact they would have a lot more in common and be friends and dare I say fall in love and bring Obi-wan in to it

So like, what do we do with Anakin and Padme to make it work? I'm all about the "fix it fics"... taking something from canon that doesn't work and finding a way that it could... Maybe if it was established that Padme was the type who wanted to fix people? Or if they were closer in age so his crush on her was more endearing than weird? Or if we were shown more redeeming or charming qualities from Anakin that'd make it hard for her not to like him?

Okay but I'm going to need someone to write this fic about the 501st and Bad Batch being a blended family on a road trip ASAP. It can just be straight dialogue for all I care, that alone would be hilarious to see. All the petty arguments and teasing. But then yeah, eventually they'll all realize they're connected, they value the same things, they can't help but look out for each other... and the emotional catharsis that would bring some of them?! 🥹 Be still my weak little heart...

Maybe make the horror of the situation not come from M3GAN herself. Maybe the horror is more of the adult fear of seeing your child being hurt and not knowing what to do about it. She's genuinely making the effort to change, she knows killing is all wrong now, but seeing this child she's learning to genuinely love with all her heart being hurt like this and crying themselves to sleep at night just leaves her fighting the urge to relapse into her old ways. Ever see the Boys? There's a scene where Homelander gets pissed off at someone's comment and has an elaborate fantasy where he just slaughters an entire room of people. I imagine M3GAN would do it to, just start imagining herself killing these people in horrible, grotesque ways as a way of catharsis, only to catch herself and get scared because she's afraid she'll lose all progess made and go back to being a ruthless murderer.

See, that would be really interesting.

I really did love m3gan as a character. There was a scene where she like...reprimanded Gemma, her creator, for making mistakes with her.

I would've loved to see more of that.

You're right that it would be sooo cool to see her find another child.

But maybe the conflict comes from knowing there's something wrong with you, but unlike humans, being unable to identify and fix it because you weren't programmed to do so.

Not sure how they'd reconcile that with the horror genre, though.

I know seed of Chucky did a humorous version of that, where Chucky and Tiffany try not to murder people for the sake of their son.

I wonder if they'll try to redeem her now. I almost feel like they should, but...I don't know. They also probably know that a campy murdering queen is too fun to totally redeem too.

We'll just have to wait and see, because they could go either way.

I would be happy either way, because I just want more of m3gan!!! Whether she's evil or redeemed, she's iconic.
