I keep getting messages from people saying they wish they could get certain Pride Angels designs but don't feel comfortable doing so if it's not their flag. Personally this has never been an issue for me and I get any design regardless of flag if it looks cool. But I'm wondering if I'm in the minority here! Let me know in the poll.

The thing about angel wings was that humans didn't know much about them. Prince Ryan had done some research, early on, just in case, he'd said. From the look on this doctor's face, though, I didn't think she had done the same.

The other thing about angel wings was that I didn't know much about them either.

I wasn't an angel angel, of course. Not like the ones from the bible with eyes all over themselves, begging people not to be afraid of them. I was the type of angel that hadn’t been too different from humans, way back in the early days. Back when people paid egregious amounts of money for the ability to fly. Humans and angels were only separated by a surgery worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, still all called humans, until the scientists had learned to change the genetic code of children before they were born.

Wings got a lot less valuable once kids could be born with them. It didn’t help once people couldn’t control if a kid was born with them or not.

��Angels” was a nickname first, and it spread, although I never was sure if it was just the wings or if it was the idea that angels would come to the earth while the world was ending. It didn’t matter. Everyone thought that the world was ending, and maybe it had. But people still ate and slept and laughed and cried, and the world went on.

And once the angels started to show differences from humans, humans stopped caring to know about them.

I knew very little about my wings besides the fact that they weren’t the wings of a bird. Prince Ryan, while in one of his better moods, had explained some of it to me once. Bats were mammals, like humans—easier to attach, easier to maintain. Of course, the prince was human, and I was not, and I would never be able to have his level of understanding with matters like these.

There were humans in this castle, though, that also didn’t seem to have his level of understanding.

The doctor that Kieran had brought me to had taken one look at me, smiled politely, and left me alone to talk to Kieran outside the door. “Just stay put for a minute, sugar,” she’d said, voice strained, a southern accent bleeding through her words as she left me to avoid eye contact with the guard who’d had to help me walk down the hall.

Her voice was less strained when she’d returned, but she still didn’t seem pleased that I was there. I shrunk back onto the cot I’d been left on.

“Onyx, Ma’am.”

“Alright, Onyx, that’s good. Do you mind telling me what happened to your arm?”

“It got hit by a sword, I think, Ma’am.” My memories of the night before were hazy, but it was a sword, right? My arm had been… it’d gotten hurt when we were in a hallway, in an endeavor to get us out of that hallway. And Prince Cardan had pushed me in the way. Maybe.

“Mkay. Looks like you got lucky and it just nicked you, hun. Won’t even need stitches. I’ve just gotta disinfect it and bandage it. Would that be alright?”

I nodded jerkily, not expecting the question. Prince Ryan had told me what he was doing to me, sometimes, but not like this. Dr. Charlotte had been smiling the whole time, soft and kind. Prince Cardan smiled at me sometimes, but it was always due to amusement on his part. Of course, that was his right, because I was a servant, but Dr. Charlotte had been smiling as if it were for my benefit. She’d asked before touching my arm. That wasn’t… how people were supposed to act about angels and servants.

“I’m afraid I can’t do much about your wing, sweetheart,” she said once my arm was bandaged, and I nodded. I’d expected that much. “I haven’t ever worked with angel wings before, and I wouldn’t want to make anything worse because of my lack of experience. But I can find someone who knows more about it, alright?”

I nodded. Dr. Charlotte seemed like the type to tolerate questions, probably. “May I ask a question, ma’am?”

“Sure, hun.”

“Why do you want to fix my wing?”

She blinked, and then laughed lightly. “Well, I’m not quite sure what you mean. I mean, I think everyone should get medical assistance that caters to them. You don’t mean to give up on that wing just because I wouldn’t know where to start with it, right? We’ll find someone else. Do you not want it fixed?”

I frowned. “Good servants don’t have wants, ma’am, other than serving the royal family. Her Majesty has always had my best interests in mind, including when my wing was broken to prevent me from flying. And I don’t have a preference, of course, but I don’t know if she wants it fixed.”

“Her Majes- Are you talking about Lucia?”

“Yes, ma’am.” Dr. Charlotte’s willingness to refer to the queen with her first name was dangerous, to say the least, and I tried not to let my heart rate spike.

“Okay, well, I’m not sure if she mentioned this to you, but she hasn’t ruled a country for the better part of the last decade. Last night was a pitiful attempt to get the country back under her control. Bless her heart, she might have actually believed it would work.”

I stared at Dr. Charlotte. I wasn’t supposed to contradict the things said by people who ranked higher than me, which included everyone, but holy shit. Holy shit. Talking about the queen that way was treason of some kind, without a doubt, and also flat out wrong. Sixteen generations—the monarchy had been theirs for sixteen generations. “Are you sure you aren’t misinformed, Ma’am?” I settled on eventually.

“Quite sure. Have you ever actually seen Lucia with any of her subjects?”

No, but I wasn’t a traitor and I knew that I was supposed to take the royal family’s word on things. I was a good servant and I would act accordingly. Except-

Except I had just left a room of the entire royal family, tied up together. Except we had murdered three guards to get into this castle, and we’d lived in a house with three bedrooms. Except that the royal family had a total of two servants working for them, and neither of us had been allowed to leave the house.

“Her Majesty’s family has been ruling the country for sixteen generations,” I said weakly.

“Yeah, well, no one wanted Lucia to rule because she’s a dick and hates everyone. So we did something about it. I can’t get you to start hating her—that’s up to you—but you should probably know the facts, and the facts are that she’s not a queen and she never will be again.”

And that was- not my decision to make. Nothing was ever my decision to make. Of course political affairs like this wouldn’t make sense to me; I was an angel and a servant, and my only job was to do what I was told.

That was what Prince Ryan had said, even. Do what they tell you. Don’t get hurt. Even if this Dr. Charlotte was wrong about things, I was supposed to do what I was told.

“Hey,” Dr. Charlotte said softly, and I glanced back up at her. “I’m sorry for overwhelming you, dear. Now that your arm’s all fixed up, Kieran’s got some questions for you, if that’s okay.”

Do what they tell you. Don’t get hurt.

“Yes, Ma’am.”

I'm sorry you're having trouble getting your drawing the way you want :< if it's any help, I think Cole looks really good in sketch form, it kinda goes well with him being a version of Ink and having the big pen y'know? Like it kinda fits his whole vibe (also your sketches just look cool in general) and if it's more about the lore and learning about these guys then I think sketches do that just fine c:

Apologies if you have answered this before, but do you plan to have Luuk in other stories? I enjoyed him in Eversion and was looking forward to him in Perth Shifters (I think I saw that said somewhere, now I wonder if I am making that up). (Have I missed him anywhere?) Just curious. You have so many characters so totally understand if he just lives as he is. Do you have another character you would say is similar to Luuk?

Currently no plans to put Luuk in another story, though I did want him to be Hunter's match in the Perth Shifters series, but that's on hiatus / shelved right now.

Otherwise, there will be a character very similar in vibe to Luuk, called Kenneth, in Underline the Red, who will join Caleb and Faber in a polyamorous set-up (though much like Luuk in Eversion, he won't end up living with them or being with them all the time).

He's already been introduced for subscribers, folks who are following on AO3 will meet him soon :)

(Between AU) given the premise of the au you do have a lot more room to focus on Bergen politics so Chef doing her coup would probably work really well— she tries to bring back Trollstice, Branch and Gristle shut it down, she tries to overthrow them on the “it’s the only way to be happy” platform (which would probably garner popular support). That would make Creek’s betrayal him allying himself with what he thinks will be the winning faction… maybe Bridget would be able to help the trolls and Gristle + Branch?

My main issue with this is that one thing I want to avoid is downsizing or underselling Poppy's role in things. Her belief in the good of the world and others is a critical component to the story, and not something that can be put forth by any other character. Figuring out how and where she and Branch interact in the movie is the main stumbling point, because they do need to have more than one or two interactions over the course of things. So while I do want to get more into Bergen politics, I don't want doing so to push Poppy out.

I don't know and we never will! I tend to automatically bristle a bit at people saying everything is planted planned fake etc because I really just... disagree. So so much of the time. And I don't find it remotely unlikely that an interviewer in LATAM (where like... everyone is a larrie) would ask that and I don't find anything about any of it strange, including that he would be able to answer the question the way he did and without a reaction. But who knows? If they did plant that now I wouldn't find it weird at all (though I don't think they did); however it came about I'm sure they're very interested in taking the temperature of the fanbase around this, seeing what the response is. The fanbase is going through a lot of growth and changes, especially around this stuff! I'd give a lot to know what they're seeing tbh to have that data, it would be truly fascinating. I will say however that I really do not think they arranged for this to drop at the end of his press tour as I've seen suggested (and I imagine there are still more interviews that haven't dropped yet so it isn't even the end? I'm not keeping track but probably?). It was recorded on the very first day of the junket- and having seen this I would guess that NOT knowing when it was going to drop is why Louis has been so very Online these last days monitoring the progress of his little junket tour, knowing that at some point things were going to blow up with this and checking to see if it was happening yet (especially as he probably thought it was going to drop while he was still face to face interacting with fans every day and he'd certainly want to know when it had dropped for that.)

Onyx stares at you for a few moments, mulling the question over in his head. Break, you’d said, but Onyx wasn’t sure what exactly would qualify him as broken. His purpose is to serve the crown, he knows, and he would technically be broken if he failed to do that. He is useless without his role as a servant, and broken and useless are not too different. So he would be broken if he stopped serving the crown.

But he can’t do that. He will serve the crown forever. He doesn’t get to be broken; he just serves the crown over and over and over, no matter what else happens.

“I suppose,” he says finally, “that if you wanted to completely keep me from my duty, to render me broken, you would have to physically keep me from it. Tie me down or take me from the royal family. Willingly—um. To keep me away from my duty of my own will would be harder, because I would not be willing to stay away from it. My will is not my own, it is an extension of the royal family’s. Maybe if- maybe if they stopped having a use for me. I would have to stop if they asked me to, so if their will was that I stopped serving them then that is what would happen.”

Hello! I’m in the middle of the UtB chapter you posted today (jhdkvksosbbsjdlfivudbsgary) and I was wondering about the stretch lube, does it have any effect also on the penis during sex? If applied to other parts of the body what would happen? Thanks!

Oh I can definitely share more about that! I wrote like a whole wall-of-text about it in the Discord but basically:

Stretch lubricant is extremely expensive, and only can be legally prescribed to peak alphas (and will not be permitted for peak alphas who have sex with omegas - so Augus doesn't use it as an example). Alphas have to do the stretching etc. with regular lube. It costs about $70 for a small tube. Despite being called lubricant, it's only intended to be used for the anus and the surrounds (exterior sphincter / interior sphincter), and any other lubricant (which should be used generously) should be the main lubricant once Stretch has been applied and is effective.

Stretch is only active as an elasticating agent when it's refrigerated. Sadly this means for any partners of peak alphas who aren't omegas, it must be applied cold. And it must also be applied with gloves, to stop it from affecting the user's hands etc. It comes with a black box warning to only apply it to a particular area of the body (anus).

As soon as Stretch begins warming up, it can no longer penetrate other people's skin or be active, so it will remain active where it has been absorbed, but be neutralised if anyone else touches it. Warm = no longer going to elasticate anything else except what it touched when cold.

Stretch lubricant comes with applicator gloves.

A single tube of Stretch lubricant is designed to only last for a single session (sometimes a couple). If Gary wanted to fuck someone like normal, he'd have to buy about three tubes (and other lubricant).

A tube of Stretch costs around $70 USD and needs a prescription or alternatively peak alpha ID presentation. So if he wanted to actually have sex with Efnisien 'properly' that would cost him at least $210 in Stretch alone.

Stretch can affect all areas of the body and be extremely dangerous as an elasticating agent. It can affect smooth muscle badly, and enhance gastrointestinal and motility issues.

Its effects are temporary, and muscle tone returns to the anus after about 30 minutes. By then - sex is not usually over, but there's been enough sexual activity / penetration to keep someone stretched relatively safely.

Some peak alphas can get away with not using Stretch if a) their partner is used to opening up for a penis their size in the first place and b) they've used it once already in a marathon and are confident their partner can take them without it and c) are very thorough with pre-preparation (like sizing up plugs etc.) But given how many peak alphas are known for one night stands etc. and quick sex, Stretch solves a problem for them. It basically takes a partner from zero to 'can handle fisting' in about five minutes.

Some of this gets talked about later in the story (when Efnisien and Gary watch porn for the first time, lol). But not all of it, because, well...pacing! :D

But basically it's a synthetic elasticating agent that can be fatal if misused, or do permanent harm to the body, and has to be applied in a very non-sexy way, but it's also just about the only way for peak alphas to have sex and not need like hours to open someone up for them.

If applied correctly it can keep an alpha out of the emergency room!
