so let me share something with you guys for a second
(nsfw)
ghost is hot, right? we all know that. picture him always having someone sneaking out his room during unsocial able hours, shushes and clattering of buckles hitting the floor as his latest hookup creeps back down the halls to the cold barracks
and you, the awkward recruit with a fat crush on your lieutenant who envys every person who shamelessly shoots their shot with him and succeeds. letting him make a mess out of them for one night only
and it is always one night only
no same person has ever left his room twice, nothing more than a cheap hookup to him. you know you wouldnât be any different, shown the door before you can even get your cargos zipped back up but if it meant at least one night with simon riley, you really didnât care
but when itâs finally your turn? when you finally drink up enough courage to speak to the brooding man in the corner nursing his own drink in the corner of the bar, it turns out he didnât even know your name
but thatâs okay, itâs not like he was gonna be your future husband anyway so you power through. pull out all the charisma you have stored away for moments like this and you soon find yourself back in his room, making a complete fool of yourself
struggling to unbuckle his belt, biting down too hard on his lip during the, quite frankly, terrible make-out session that led up to your current situation, responding to his dirty talk with blinded stutters
and when he finally pulls out his cock? youâre too nervous to relax, and it doesnât fit. before he can give you some half-assed âsâalright, love. another time, yeah?â, youâre shoving him off and rushing out his room before you can even get yourself fully-dressed
for weeks, you avoid him. at least, thatâs what he calls it. you didnât consider it avoidance under the assumption that he had no intentions of pursuing you again
simon was under the same assumption, and yet he couldnât stop thinking about you. every hook-up leading up to you was a performance, an act he completed as some odd way of reminding himself that he was still, in fact, human
your heated cheeks and scrunched nose every time you fumbled was strangely refreshing to simon, a friendly reminder that not everything needed to be so serious, so professional. maybe the humanising act could be an experience instead, he thinks as he reaches for his phone
that night had been keeping you up for weeks, replaying every stupid way you messed up the thing you had been thinking about since you laid eyes on simon
and then your phone pings. from an unknown number.
âprice is off base. come to my room and Iâll make it fit this time.â

UNDER PRESSURE
1700 words | banter. tension. jealousy. possessive Sylus.
Prompt: running into your main lads man (boyfriend) while you're out with your second favorite lads man (as a friend) and how they would react.
Note: Written for this round robin/challenge by the lovely @jinwoosbabyboo -- it's open for anyone, by the way, so consider yourself tagged if you're interested! (:
The smell of antiseptic mingled with the earthy scent of Vagrant's Land while the pop-up clinic buzzed with organized chaos. Patients with various illnesses and injuries stood around waiting for the moment they'd be called back and have their ailments treated or cured.
The welcome tentâs fabric flapped in the soft breeze as you let the nurse manning the check-ins know why you were there. When you were shown inside, you noticed the open space had been outfitted with portable medical equipment to create a busy hive of treatment cubicles and testing areas.
You glanced around the crowded space until you found him. Taller than most of the room, intent on his work, and confidently in his element, Dr. Zayne scribbled onto the clipboard a nurse was holding toward him. Finishing his last marking, he looked up, cool hazel eyes thawing ever-so-slightly and dented with a happy crinkle as he straightened and dismissed your escort.
"Right on time," he murmured, grabbing two latex gloves, a yellow file folder, and his medical bag.
"Miracles can happen when you least expect them," you teased with a grin.
Zayne started to usher you toward a makeshift examination corner since all the cubicle curtains were closed. "Medical miracles, maybe," he quipped. "But you being on time? Thatâs a phenomenon even science canât explain."
You laughed softly, sitting down as he gestured to a folding chair and rested his medical bag on the wobbly table next to him. "Careful, Dr. Zayne, your bedside manner is slipping."
With an amused shake of his head, he reassured, "This shouldn't take long. Just a quick exam, same as always."
You nodded, rolling up your sleeve as he pressed his cool fingers to the inside of your wrist and got started. His touch was warm but impersonal, his attention fixed on his readings. He moved methodically, pressing the tips of his fingers over your heart and chest.
Though the process was clinical, you couldn't help but study Zayne with fondness â the way his brows furrowed in concentration, the way his nostrils flared when a loud noise interrupted him, the way his breath became a tickle on your cheek when he leaned in to adjust his stethoscope.
That was the moment you heard his voice.
âDon't tell me you're afraid now,â Sylus demanded from the clinic's entrance, making nurses and bystanders alike stand to attention, as if they couldn't help but wait for his next directive. âI could put you two into far worse situations.â
Two hooded boys in medical masks shuffled in behind him, the defiant puff of their chests doing little to hide their apprehension. At Sylus' words Luke scowled but didnât argue while Kieran kept glancing toward the exit like a cornered animal. Giving them a pointed look toward the nurse they were supposed to follow, he took a few steps forward before his eyes landed on you.
The vision of the leader of Onychinus halting in place with a satisfied smirk spreading across his face was unnerving enough to straighten every spine in the vicinity. But he barely noticed as he waved off the boys and made his way toward you.
Then his eyes flicked to the person next to you. To the stern yet striking man whose face was so close to yours he was practically stealing your fucking air from you.
Jaw tightening â the only outward sign of his discomfitureâSylus strode toward you with deliberate, measured steps, his posture casual but predatory.
A fluttering of wings had taken flight in your stomach as soon as you'd heard Sylus' gravelly voice, but for the sake of Zayne's time and not raising any eyebrows in the semi-public setting, you'd resolved to find Sylus after your check-up. Unfortunately for you, Sylus never much cared about the concept of discretion when it came to you.
Stopping behind you, he placed the edge of his palm on your shoulders, spreading his fingers across your chest in a rather over-the-top display of possessiveness.
Doctor Zayne hadn't even looked up at the interruption and had moved on to digging for a tool in his medical bag when the hand-shaped barrier blocked his access to your heart.
âWell, isnât this cozy?" Though the words were casual, his tone was wrapped in barbed wire.
"Sylus!" You said, hoping the breathlessness in your voice wasn't too noticeable. Looking up at his sharp features, which managed to be frustratingly beautiful even upside down, you smiled and moved his hands from your chest to your biceps, patting the tops of them twice. "I didn't know this is what you meant when you said you were taking care of some business with Luke and Kieran. Shouldn't you be with them?"
A low chuckle emerged from his throat, laced with both amusement and menace. "I was, sweetie. That is, until someone else piqued my... curiosity." His hands slid slowly down to the crooks of your elbows and then disappeared. Suddenly, the chair next to you was occupied with your boyfriend's imposing form, eyes boring into Zayne's unflappable figure. "I didn't realize doctors from Linkon City made special appointments when they visited Vagrant's Land."
âI volunteer here once a month,â Zayne said matter-of-factly. He didnât look up as he re-focused on his examination of you, ignoring Sylus' eyes â one, a muted scarlet, the other an angry vermillion â trained on every movement. âItâs a good way to reach those who canât make it to a hospital.â
Sylusâs gaze darkened, his lips curving into a tight smile. âHow noble of you. I see you're veryââ His eyes lingered on Zayneâs hand, still resting against your chest. ââthorough with your patients.â
"Sylus," you cut in quickly. "Have you met my childhood friend, Zayne? We recently reconnected when he became my doctor."
But Sylus' attention didn't move from Zayne.
âAny good doctor is thorough,â Zayne replied, turning to jot down notes into your file. His voice was calm, almost bored, as if Sylusâs presence barely registered. âIf something's off, it's important to work on her as soon as possible."
âIâll bet it is,â Sylus muttered under his breath, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his seat.
Recognizing the simmering menace in his tone, you jam your elbow into Sylus' narrowing your eyes in a silent warning. Your string of bad luck continued however, when, after he placed a dramatic hand over his elbow, Sylus went back to watching your childhood friend with the kind of intensity that made most people fear for their lives.
Zayne, of course, was not most people.
âDo you mind?â Zayne asked, flicking a quick glance at Sylus through his lashes. âIâm trying to work.â
âNot at all,â Sylus replied smoothly, his tone dripping with sarcasm. âDonât let me interrupt.â
Another tense few minutes pass, and the balloon of pressure in your chest expanded second by second as the tension between Sylus and Zayne crackled like static.
You were caught between irritation with Sylus for his uncharacteristically territorial behavior or shock with Zayne, who was acting more aloof than usual, almost like he was... purposefully fueling Sylus' ire.
âSo, Sylus,â you said brightly, trying again to diffuse the situation. âWhy'd you bring Luke and Kieran here?â
âDo they seem like the guys who'd show up to update their vaccines if I didn't drag them myself?â he shot back with a smirk, jerking his head toward the cubicle Luke and Kieran were in.
âThatâs admirable,â Zayne remarked, his tone neutral. âMore people should take an interest in the well-being of others.â
âThat's me, a real caretaker," Sylus drawled, eyes narrowed. And just like that, any hope for the peace you'd been building toward popped like a bubble. "Though I can't say I'm as hands-on as you, doctor. At least... not in public."
"A shame." Zayne raised an eyebrow, his expression faintly amused. âHands-on can be very effective when done correctly.â
The implication hung in the air, subtle but deliberate. You groaned internally, feeling like a rope in an increasingly taut tug-of-war.
âAlright, enough,â you snapped, looking down at them with your hands on your hips. âSylus, this is just a check-up. Zayne, stop provoking.â
Both men fell silent, though the charged atmosphere lingered.
Sylus had the nerve to look almost... chagrined for the first time in his life, which alone worked wonders on your frustration â though from the way he stood and rested his hand on the back of your neck, it might've been more placating than chagrined.
Zayne, who also stood up, simply adjusted his glasses, his composure as unshaken as ever.
âIâm done here,â Zayne said, handing you a slip of paper. âI've updated the schedule according to your upcoming work trips. Other than that, you're fine.â
âThank you, Zayne,â you smile warmly, stuffing the paper into your bag.
Zayne nodded, then turned to Sylus and held out his hand in a begrudging truce. âSheâs in good health. You can relax.â
For a moment, you stared at Sylus' stoic expression and worried all hell would break loose in Vagrant's Land. Then, he linked his hand with Zayne's and gave it a firm, business-like shake, turned you around, and led you back to the entrance to wait for Luke and Kieran.
You couldnât help but glance back at Zayne as you walked. He'd already moved onto his next patient, but caught your eye when you look around. And you could've sworn that Zayne, Doctor Zayne, your childhood friend, winked at you.
Once you were far enough to feel the afternoon breeze sweep over you, Sylus' gaze softened as he searched your face. âYou feeling alright?â he asked, looking at the place where her aether core rested. His voice was quieter now, the edges of his tone no longer sounding so ruffled.
âI don't know. How should I feel after I've been pissed on by my boyfriend at my doctor's appointment?â Though you try to sound angry, it comes out as nothing but pure amusement.
At your smile, the tension in his shoulders eased slightly, and the corner of his lips curved. "Pissed on? I'd never do something so crass, kitten." He leaned down, his breath gliding over the crook of your neck like a feather, and rasped, "You know I'm more of a biter."

âYou Called My Liege?â
Yandere King x Jester! GN Reader
Tw: Dubcon/non-con,, obsessive,, possessive,, controlling,, NSFW.,, ALL CHARACTERS 18+ PLEASE.
Words: 1.6k words
Yandere Prince! Who had first seen you when you had walked in with you dad, your family had been a family of Jesters for the Royal Family for centuries for now.
Yandere Prince! Who met you when his father has introduced you two to each other, explaining that you will be his Jester when he is the future King, with that a bond had started to grow between you too.
Yandere Prince! Who has always been blunt, stoic and short tempered, but when being around your cheeky and playful personality and eventually his stiff personality melts away and welcomes you, soon enough you two would play around places around the Palace whenever your dad was called upon by his father.
Yandere Prince! Who killed his father when he had suggested that he was just maybe too close with his Jester, that it was inappropriate to be friends with his Jester. Who did his father think he was telling him what to do with HIS Jester?
He dropped the blooded sword, as he kicked the former king's head away from him.
âClean this up.â he lazily gazed into the dreary eyes of his father, his voice devoid of any guilt or remorse.
âBurn the body and fetch me my jester.â A small smile spreading across his features at the thought of you as he pushed past the stunned maids who hurriedly obeyed, they wouldn't want face the wrath of the kings short temper.
Yandere Prince! Who has you by his side the whole coronation, and he gets a thrill when you called him âMy Liegeâ for the first time.
Your skin warm from laying on grass, sun blazing on your skin, hands intertwined with the teenage future king, he was squeezing your hand as if trying to keep you from running away from him, but you decided not to pay it any mind.
You felt a slight tug, and you hummed softly.
âI don't wanna marry someone I don't know or even love,â He said, frustration and exasperation laced in his voice âbut my father insisted it was a necessity for the economy of our kingdom.â
âIf it's an economic boost you need, why not hold a royal jousting tournament?â You said softly chuckling at your own joke âLoser buys dinner... or a brideâ
He looked at you deadpanned, you softly rolled your eyes.
âWho would you even marry?â You teased him softly âI don't know of anyone you fancy.â
âAre you sure?â He questioned, as he put his hand on your chin tilting it to face him. âBut to answer your question, My fool, you would be my bride.â
You weren't really sure if the king was joking or not, so you had changed the subject instead.
As you walked down the halls of the Jesters towers, the king had requested for you the usual spot, the throne room, a room you've grown very accustomed to.
The door to the room had no guards protecting it, so you had entered. There sat the king on his righteous throne, his hand resting in his chin and legs crossed, clearly in deep thought.
âYou called My Liege?â You said as you bowed, dipping low and a playful smile on your face. The king who's eyes now locked with yours, had merely patted the arm rail of his throne, you obliged.
âTell me..â he says as he snakes his arm loosely around your waist, shifting in his seat to be closer with you.
You hummed lightly, it wasn't weird that the king was being so ⌠affectionate, he'd always wanted to be close with you.
âDo you recall when I told you that I would make you my bride?â He asked, with a tone unrecognisable to you.
âOh your little quip?â You answered, focusing on his thumb rubbing your waist slowly, his hand slowly making its way down.
He let out a lifeless, breathy snicker, âI do not jest, that is your job.â
!!Nsfw!!
He lifts you up, placing you on his lap, rocking you back and forth, you can feel his hardened cock against your entrance.
âBut if you're going to be my bride, I need everyone to know youâre mine.â He said as he digs his hands into your waist.
âI think it's better to marry someone who..â You pause, as you try to squirm off his lap, but he holds you down, âIs more equipped to be a monarch.â
âYou'd make a perfect spouse for meâ He says as kisses and bites your neck, as he rips your clothes off your body, the cold air hitting your skin, makes you shiver.
You let out a soft gasp at the feeling of him biting your neck. âI'm gonna have to stretch you out,â He says as pushes two fingers into and you gasp loudly, pushing yourself against his chest.
With every sweet sound you let out he can feel his cock and precum coating his undergarments, he pumps his fingers roughly.
âWow, you must really want to be filled, your greedy hole is taking my fingers so well,â He says as he picks up the pace of his fingers âhas someone ever pleasured you so well?â
You already feel your climax close, but he pulls his fingers out âYou don't release unless I tell you too, My Fool.â
You whine at the emptiness that fills you now. âStand.â Nothing but hunger in voice, afraid you obey, you had seen what he was capable of with his sword.
He took off his clothing as you, his long and hard cock, throbbing and the tip glistening with precum.
He had grabbed you and bent you over the very same arm rail you sat on, he slowly pushed himself into your hole, grabbing a handful of your ass and giving it a hard slap, his hands travelling from your ass to your hip, letting out a loud groan.
âOh fuck, you feel just right, your hole wraps around me so perfectlyâ he said with a dreamy like voice.
âWhat about the maids and butlers, I don't wanna be seen in this caseâ you said trying to bite back the moans that are bubbling in your throat.
âIf they even dare to look, I'll kill them, your body is only for my eyes,â He says, thrusting deeply into you at every word he says, unable to keep your moans anymore, you let out loud moans that fill the room and his groans as well.
With each deep thrust you feel your climax closing in, and you can tell he is too with his fastened pace and his balls slapping your skin.
âPlease cum with me, please, please, pleaseâ he whines and pants as he trails his hands up your back and pulls you as you both release, you relax as his semen feels warm.
The King picks you up, his hard cock still twitching inside you, and puts you on the throne.
âI'm not finished, My Darling.â

Ghoap x reader. Autistic reader. Christmas angst. Allusions to Ghostâs backstory. Salacious use of ribbon. Soap being inappropriate. NSFW.
Soap fidgets on the train the whole way over to the light show. You donât notice, of course, your earplugs are in, but Ghost, hypervigilant for the season, cocks an eyebrow.
âItches like mad,â Soap grouses. He tugs at the collar of his sweater, a ghastly thing in fuzzy green, red, and gold, with LED bulbs embroidered down the front.
Ghost scowls at him. Soap purses his lips, not chastened. You sit between them, oblivious, fingering the zipper of your purse.
Thereâs enough cheer on the train to make up for their collective lack. More than one person wears a dumb Santa hat, and at least every other has on something colorful and festive. It seems like everyone feels some sort of Christmas spirit but Ghost, and it makes his hackles tense up.
Your hand slips into his then, smooth like silk settling over his palm. He looks at you; your gaze is fixed steadily ahead, unfocused. Heâs not sure whether you reached for him to find comfort or offer it, but he closes his fingers around yours anyway.
He looks overâSoap has your other hand. Reaching to find, then. He squeezes.
The three of you wait until the very last moment to disembark when you arrive, letting the crowd out first. Ghostâs choice. The absolute last thing he wants is to lose either you or Soap in the stream of people flowing from the trainâSoap will get distracted, and you hate it when strangers crowd you. This is going to be a trial as it is.
Ghost has to admitâonce they reach the grounds, the displays are something to see. Together, you walk through a tunnel of lights leading you to the beginning of the walk, rings of warm white gently shining overhead, and Ghost, despite himself, canât help but admire how it makes both of his partners look like theyâre glowing.
Then Soap tugs at his sweater again, and Ghost bites down a growl.
âOh, hot chocolate,â you say at the end of the tunnel, looking over at a cart laden with a few big steel samovars. âIâm going to get some, either of you want any?â
âCider,â Ghost says, softening the curtness of his tone with the tenner he hands you. âIf theyâve got any.â
âCoffee for me, hen, if you donât mind,â Soap adds with a smile. You nod, and scurry toward the drinks.
Soap eyes him. Ghost knows what he seesâhis back has been ramrod straight since the bloody month started. He holds his shoulders the same way he might if he had his rifle across his chest. His jaw has been hard as a cinder block any time the market clerk tossed âhappy holidaysâ at him when he did his best to get away as fast as he could.
âDonât,â Ghost says.
Soap says nothing.
This is not their first Christmas together, but it is their first with you. The sergeant already knows how Ghost feels about the holiday; you do not, and Ghost wants to keep it that way for a little while longer.
Divining your feelings about anything takes a little longer than it might with anyone else, but heâs pretty sure youâre excited, in your way. Soap, for whom pine trees and glitter and the smell of snow in the air seem to activate a sleeper agent in his brain that orgasms at the mere sight of tinsel, already has a Wellington resting in their shared fridge, and artfully wrapped presents crammed under their pre-lit tree. The two of you together have flooded the flat with lights, candy-cane frippery, crocheted snowflake doilies, and ski-lodge scented candles.
Ghost, for his part, has scrolled various travel websites to figure out if assassinating Santa Claus is something actually feasible. Maybe if he defeats the final boss of Christmas he can actually sleep through the night at least once this month.
It isnât that he hates it, exactly. Itâs just that Christmas, to him, began as a hazy game of roulette, wondering if the wild animal of his father would appear to ruin the exchange of charity-shop gifts wrapped in reused paper, and then solidified as an image reflected in pools of spreading blood.
The last happy Christmas, he had to burn down. Thatâs no reason that he has to ruin it for everyone else, though.
You return with three paper cups held awkwardly in your two hands, and Ghost and Soap relieve you of your burden. Your cup has a peppermint stick jutting up out of it, and you use it to stir your steaming drink periodically as the three of you proceed.
The path leads through an army of glowing snowmen in mismatched sizes, life-size gingerbread houses, past multicolor balls tossed across the top of a frozen pond. Trees banded with so many strings they look like branches of lightning reaching up from the earth. Electric snowflakes dangling above your heads from netting stretched between lampposts.
Ghost keeps clenching and unclenching his fist. His cider goes rapidly cold in his other hand, untouched. He probably canât get his money back for it, but heâs agitated enough to start a fight and try.
Meanwhileâitâs obvious, youâre enjoying yourself immensely. You donât say much as you flit between installations, running a hand over the glowing bulbs, tilting your head this way and that like a curious little bird. You take your phone out more than once to open your camera, and Ghost knows youâre saving pictures to put together a slideshow later on.
More than once, you look back at him and Soap, and grin wide at some novelty or another. Ghost manages to nod his head at youâgo on, little birdie, keep having fun.
âJesus,â Soap mutters, trying to scratch at a spot on his back for the third time.
âFuckâs sake, Soap, just take the fucking thing off,â Ghost snaps.
âCanna,â Soap says.
âWhy the fuck not?â
Soapâs mouth slants sideways. He looks around for spectators, and, finding none within eyeshot, lifts the bottom of the sweater.
Bright, shiny, very red ribbon runs in two lines along the naked cut of his obliquesâdown past the waistband of his trousers.
Ghost tosses the cider out of his cup and grips Soap by the back of the neck, throws, âOY! Duckie! Bathroom!â at you, and drags his boyfriend to the nearby public loo.
Itâs empty, thank god, so Ghost wastes no time yanking the closure of Soapâs trousers open. The ribbon continues downward, downward, the V narrowing and narrowing untilâ
It converges in a (somewhat lopsided) bow tied right around the base of Soapâs dick.
âSoap, what the fuck,â Ghost says.
The sergeant backs up, and pulls the sweater fully off. It reveals a latticework of satiny red crisscrossing his chiseled torso: lines of ribbon accenting the curves of his pectorals, his toned abdomen, highlighting the small indent of his trim waist.
Soapâs cheeks flush pink.
âGoes further down,â he mutters, not meeting Ghostâs eye.
âWhat the fuck,â Ghost repeats.
âWas gonna do a big reveal when we got home,â Soap says. âStart stripping when we got the door closed. That rubbish.â
Ghost, incredulously, snorts, and Soap smiles at him.
âFirst time youâve laughed this month,â he says quietly. âSâ why I did it.â
Ghost steps up to him and takes Soapâs chin between thumb and forefinger. âYou fucking idiot,â he says, and kisses him.
The bathroom door opens, letting in a gust of wind, and Ghost and Soap jump back from each other momentarily, before relaxing when your voice reaches them.
âThere better not be a handjob happening in here without meâoh,â you say, stopping short.
Shoving the waist of his pants down further, Soap turns around to show off to you the full extent of what heâs done. It gives Ghost a good look at the pretty intersections happening overtop of the muscles of Soapâs back, and the dip of the ribbon down between the two perfect globes of Soapâs arse.
You blink several times. âThere isnât a lock on this door, Soap. If I get down to suck you off, someone is going to come in.â
Impossibly, Ghost snorts again, and then laughs for real, a full-belly guffaw that comes out a little more harsh than it should. But you grin at him, and the line of Soapâs shoulders, which Ghost suddenly realizes has been as tense as his this whole time, relaxes.
He pecks the bare swell of Soapâs bicep, and then the crown of your head as he passes you by.
âIâll hold it closed, duckie,â he says. âDo whatever you want.â
He only leaves the door once when he hears you shriek suddenly with laughterâto find that Soap has decorated his cock with a peppermint-loop of red lipstick, all the way to the tip.
âFucking idiot,â Ghost repeats, and cancels his trip to the North Pole then and there.

This had never occurred to me way back when when I first watched playthroughs of the game/played it myself, but;
Seeing this post made me remember Max's nightmare, when she was trapped in her own mind/a broken version of reality.
And seeing this now?
Max definitely has PTSD.
Everyone always primarily discusses/ focuses on Chloe's trauma (which is understandable. I'll always be a Chloe defender and don't want to downplay her trauma by any means.)
But, unfortunately, Max's is overlooked.
Now, a lot of people might view this skeptically, question the idea of Max having PTSD. To many, it might seem like Max doesn't really have any lasting form of major trauma after the events of the game. Maybe she really was content and at peace and happy-go-lucky. (I've always scoffed at that scene at Chloe's funeral, when Max smiles at the butterfly.) And I'll admit, within the context of the story maybe we aren't supposed to think so. But if that's the case I just have to assume that's due to the developing team's lack of knowledge, experience with mental health and how it works, the impact things like this have on someone. Not that they are coming from a malicious place, of course. But very rarely does a person 'get it' unless they've been through it themselves. The average person simply won't understand.
But if you see everything I've described here as it's laid out, it makes total sense;
Let's talk about Jefferson. He is just one of many elements in the game contributing to Max's trauma. He was her teacher, someone she looked up to, respected, and was supposed to be able to trust. She truly felt safe around him. It's implied she had a crush on him. But her image of him completely shattered. After the truth about him was revealed, she was no longer able to trust her own judgement of people, her perception of reality.
He drugged her when she was vulnerable, and she was helpless to watch as he shot and killed the love of her life right in front of her. He kidnapped her, and she was thrown from the frying pan right into the fire. When she woke up she was tied up in a basement, helpless, and he had burned all her photos. Not only precious memories, but also one of her only means of going back and fixing things. He then took photos of her, over and over, this went on for who knows how long, while she was drugged, tied up and helpless, in order to satisfy his own perversions. Throughout, he mocked and tormented her.
Then, let's go into what happened with Chloe. Having to watch her best friend, the girl she loved, die over and over and over again. Max felt responsible for fixing it, preventing it, because she was the only one who possibly could. She would blame herself, think of it as a failure on her part each time Chloe died.
After watching her die in various ways, so many times, I'm sure Max questioned if she really even could save Chloe- or if Chloe was supposed to die from the start, and the universe was determined to restore the balance, no matter what Max did or how hard she tried.
And then there's Kate. This could go one of two ways depending on your choices, one of which is infinitely worse and more traumatizing, but either way it would definitely have haunted Max and left an impact on her.
Imagine how you would feel, knowing one of your closest friends was being bullied. Knowing they have been drunk/drugged and taken advantage of at a party. Yet instead of anyone coming forward, doing the right thing and helping Kate out of that situation, everyone at the party instead weaponized it, used it against her, slut-shamed her even though she wasn't in her right mind, was barely even conscious and was in no way able to consent to anything that was happening. Not that slut-shaming her would have in any way been okay or excusable even if Kate was acting of her own volition. Knowing that, even though you don't agree/don't identify with that, that your friend is deeply religious and clings to faith as a means of comfort. Knowing that she feels like a failure, that she feels like she's betrayed her faith, everything she stands for, and her family, even though she was in fact a victim in her situation. Being able to read letters, watching her family victim-blame her, hide behind their beliefs as a means to tear down someone they should feel obligated to protect, to support. Watching your friend be alienated by everyone around her, including her own family. Watching the school bullies write obscenities about your friend on the walls, and in the bathroom, make jabs at her and taunt her at every possible opportunity. Your friend's light has begun to dim, she starts pulling away from you, begins hiding away in her room more, which now feels like a dark, oppresive void. You know your friend is depressed, and you're trying to be supportive in any way you can, but there's a distance building between you you feel you can't bridge.
Then it happens. She kills herself/tries to kill herself. In front of you, and everyone who tormented her. Even then, the people who hurt her have no shame, laughing and recording her when she's in crisis. You begin to question and blame yourself, blaming youself for not noticing something was severely wrong earlier, not recognizing the impending signs for what they were. You want to help your friend, to save her, but your powers at failing you at the worst possible time. You only get one chance to do this, like everyone else, and you have to do it the right way.
If Max managed to talk Kate down, that's still an instense emotional weight, still a serious event to work through and process.
If Kate jumpsâŚwellâŚ
Max feels like a failure. Like she contributed to Kate's death just as much as everyone else. Like she may as well have pushed Kate off that ledge herself. Not only watching your friend die in front of you, but knowing that it was self-inflicted in a moment of desperation, that they chose to do so and your words had no effectâŚ
Now, the end of the game. Depending on what you choose, Max either has to to feel an immeasurable weight on her conscience, the responsibility for the destruction of the town where she was born. Where she grew up. Where she has countless memories, despite its' faults. The deaths of almost everyone there she's ever known.
Including (especially) Joyce.
The guilt of feeling like she took Chloe's mom away from her too, after Chloe had already lost her dad.
Oh. And that reminds me.
It was an incredible miracle, Max discovering her ability to go back through time via photos. Being able to go back 5 years, to when she and Chloe were only 13, before all the horror had happened, and save William. The sense of sheer relief, happiness and accomplishment she felt. She felt like a hero.
Only for it to all blow up in her face in the worst possible way.
Seeing Chloe, now a total shell of her former self. Completely disabled, and paralyzed. Helpless. Unable to live on her own. Seeing firsthand the emotional and financial stress William and Joyce are going through as a result of the accident. Chloe having so little quality of life that she pleads with Max to kill her, because she can't even do it herself.
(This is not my narrative or opinion on Chloe's situation, by the way. This is how it's portrayed. Quality of life, determining whether your life is worth living to due a life-changing accident or consequent disability is the choice of the invidual whom it effects. I'm not saying that anyone in Chloe's situation, who is paralyzed would inherently have no quality of life or no reason to live. That really depends on the invidiual, what that person needs in order to truly live and thrive, whether that person has family and friends and an emotional/practical support system in their life, etc. For Chloe, for me, and for many other people, though not all, living that kind of life would not be worth it.)
Max, depending on your choices, having to kill Chloe, to choose the merciful path, allow Chloe to exercise her autonomy in a world in which she can no longer do so and put her out of her misery. Knowing that she's doing for Chloe what she'd want someone to do for her if she were in that situation, yet still full of pain and regrets.
Max then having to go back and undo it all. Allow William to die again. Watch Chloe experience that horror and trauma again, knowing now she could've prevented it. But at what cost?
Lastly, if you chose to let Chloe go. To let her die.
That makes it immeasurably worse in my opinion.
The week she and Chloe spent together, reconnecting and rebulding their friendship, everything they went through together, would essentially never have happened.
Chloe, in this timeline, died alone in a bathroom. She never recieved any sort of closure, never got to know what happened to Rachel, questioning if Rachel perhaps just abandoned her, similarly to how Max did.
She never got to resolve things with Max, never heard from her again. She never got to know that Max still loved her, still cared about her and thought of her, but was too scared and guilty to reach out.
She never got to patch up things with her mom, or with David.
Everything Max went through. Everything she experienced.
To recap:
Having to watch her best friend, the woman she loves, die over and over again, feeling helpless, trapped in this endless, hellish cycle of death.
Being lulled into a false sense of security, betrayed and abducted by someone she thought she could trust, someone she looked up to.
Witnessing firsthand Kate's suicide/attempt, feeling like she failed her.
Being forced to let William die again, and force Joyce and Chloe to suffer that loss again.
Having to watch Joyce mourn her only daughter, after already losing her husband. Knowing she could've prevented it.
Everything that happened would still exist, but only in Max's mind.
She has no one she could ever confide in, talk to, or open up about it.
Chloe, for her, was that person.
No one would believe her, albeit understandably.
It's implied her powers vanish after she goes back that final time to let Chloe die.
She'd have no way to prove her story was true.
Carrying the weight of that burden, that knowledge and trauma, alone, would drive anyone insane.
Feeling like everything she went through, all the efforts she made to keep Chloe alive, were pointless.
I don't believe there is any way Max could be okay after that.
She'd be a hollow shell, just going through the motions. Totally disconnected from the world and the people around her. (Understandably. Who the hell could she connect to? Who would understand her?) Everyone at Blackwell, and their student lives and petty drama would feel so insignificant. So incredibly stupid and shallow to Max after what she's been through.
In fact, I've always felt - years after the events of the game, were you to choose to let Chloe die - that Max likely killed herself.
Over time, she probably began to question herself, to feel crazy, and begin wondering whether any of what happened, actually did, or if it was just something her mind created.
Max's trauma, her thoughts and emotions in regards to all of this are reflected in this part of the game, her mental breakdown. You can see her self-loathing, the way she blames and criticizes herself, in her interactions with herself and in her distorted journal entries.
Anyway. I never really liked Max all that much as a protagonist.
I thought she was a pushover, a little shallow, cared too much about what people like Victoria thought of her. I thought it was pretty unforgivable the way she ghosted Chloe, at the most traumatic, formative time of Chloe's life, when she had just lost the most important person in her life, besides Max. I understand anxiety, feeling awkward, helpless and flailing in that situation and not knowing what to say or do to make it better, but it just doesn't matter to me. Nothing excuses that.
HoweverâŚ
Max, did ultimately (well, depending on your choice at the ending,) make it right.
This has given me some perspective, and I have a lot more empathy for her now.
you thought you could control everybody and everything, huh?    â  twist time around your fingers?

if all else fails, i was myself
bakugou x reader âž 4.6k
info! no smut sorry gang âž tw! trust issues that manifest as issues w physical intimacy/contact, dubcon in its vaguest definition (NOT bkg & reader) âž notes! ive been in perpetual writers block for months. is this trite idk. i miss my baby but anytime i write for him im like oops this is gonna be 60k words!!! so here is. a drabble lmao. also big lmao moment this is titled after count me out by kendrick lamar ldskfjdlkjf which was on repeat while writing so uh sorry mr. lamar abt the mha fanfic
katsuki has always known that part of him is wrong.
heâs never liked being touched. every kiss heâs experienced has made him tense as an elevator cable poised to snap. any attempt to go further than that has made him a little ill, made his gut feel like a stack of loose papers being torn to shreds, slow and loud.
it doesnât help that heâs only ever had three kisses in his life: eijirou at a new yearâs party (too many teeth), eijirou again at another new yearâs party nearly a decade later (too much tongue), and then his fourth date with kyoka (when he tried to convince himself he just had to push through the discomfort to become normal).
things went further than that. it was a mistake. they both knew it right after it happenedâkyoka first, and then katsuki after his head stopped pounding with what if i'm doing this wrong what if she's pitying me for fucking this up what if i don't know how to touch another person correctly what if i was supposed to learn at some point and i missed it how could i fucking miss it will it always be like this because i can't do this again i can't i don'tâ
âkat," she said after. she looked at him with something only a few degrees removed from pity, and poorly removed at that.
he attempted a halting non-apology. he attempted a real apology. failed at both.
"it's okay, you know," she said. "to not like it."
he scoffed even though he wasnât entirely clear on what she meant by it, because there was so much he didnât like. âi like it just fine.â
âif that was liking it, Iâm honestly worried about your capacity for enjoying life in general.â it wasnât a joke. her bluntness was something that'd made katsuki think he could push his boundaries with her. all of her thoughts were laid out plain for him to read, an open-source journal. âi'm just saying you don't have to like it. and you donât have to force yourself to do things you donât want to do. don't fuck yourself over for someone else's happiness.â
kyoka still texts him often, checks in, invites him to drinks with their friends. sheâs kind. sheâs normal. she doesnât have this weird, shredded thing inside her that makes her balk at the idea of someoneâs hand on her skin. that makes her think she's doing something wrong, even if she's not the one that initiated the touch.
when you started your job at the front desk of katsukiâs agency, he never thought that he'd be here, wishing above everything that he could just be normal. just for one fucking day, so he could laugh at your shitty jokes and maybe brush his knuckles across the back of your hand in passing and take you on a date where he could kiss you in his car after driving you home and the thought wouldnât make his skin crawl, wouldn't tear up his insides to pulp.
because he fucked everything up. he's standing in his empty office where you'd been spending time with him and he fucked it up and hurt you and he's not sure how to unfuck it.
the thing is, he could grin and bear it. he could deal with the odd thing inside him that hates the contact and white-knuckle it through every kiss, every caress. but heâs never been a great actor. he wouldnât be able to hide that from you.
(kyoka told him, years later, that itâs not that the sex itself wasnât fineâwhat made it nearly unbearable for her was the fact that she could tell, only after it was too late, that being physically vulnerable with her pained him far more than he was willing to reveal.)
no one wants to feel like the person theyâre with is grinning and bearing it. that theyâre white-knuckling it through. katsuki knows this. he knows heâs basically a fucking virgin all but in title at thirty and that heâs got the personality of a dried-out fig you find in your fridge weeks after its last edible moments. he doesn't have much to offer.
but he walked into work one day and nodded at you, curt, a grimace on his faceâand you smiled at him so kindly that his stomach twisted.
with you, it wasn't the feeling of something being torn apart. it was different, lighter. leaves wrenched into the sky by a strong breeze. still a kind of tearing, but differentâless destructive.
he was wearing a deep carmine sweater his mom sent him in one of her bi-monthly care packages (as if heâs not an adult, and a pro-hero on top of that), and you said, âthatâs such a nice color on you. is it new?â
there was that breeze inside his chest, strong, pulling at his bones. âyeah,â he grunted. then slowly, as if remembering how: âthanks.â
it was the attention, he thought at first, that piqued his interest. he wasn't used to it. people always watched him from afar, and he had fans online that were borderline obsessive, but people didnât approach him. they didnât say thatâs such a nice color on you. they didnât smile the way you smile.
heâs always had a shallow streak. itâs not like he doesnât know this. itâs become a little muted over time, a little discouraged by the visible scarring on his face and body from his time in the field, but itâs never fully been eradicated. so it was simple, he thought. you paid him attention and stroked his ego, and he preened like a self-obsessed bird of paradise.
and then you started making these little origami whale sharks.
fucking stupid. it bothered him an annoying amount. you had a bunch at your desk, all different colors and sizes, some taped to your desktop monitor, some hung up with little pieces of string under the desk's storage overhang. you drew dots on the back of each one, a distinct spotted pattern that was unique for each shark. and you made them for everyone but him. eijirou bought you a pack of high quality origami paper and you made him his own fucking school, all with little faces, winking or surprised or angry, their wide paper mouths gaping and empty, the lines of their bodies pressed careful and sure.
he hated it. it was annoying and a waste of company time and he usually didnât ever use dumb corporate slogans like âa waste of company timeâ but you were really pushing his fucking limits.
it was definitely just the attention he liked, he told himself, because surely someone doing something as dumb as this would annoy him to no fucking end if he spoke to them.
and then he spoke to you and he was wrong.
he asked why you made the damn things in the first place and you told him, âi like whale sharks. but to be totally honest, i just run out of things to do."
and he saw that as a challenge. you were running out of things to do? rest assured he could find more shit for you to take care of. so he did. tasks that he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy, they were so dull and time-consuming. and you were so achingly competent that it drove him up a fucking wall. you completed everything he asked of you in half the time it would take someone else, and you always reported back with a smile, and you always did good work, and he could see himself having a conversation with you about something other than work but he didn't want to try because he was worried he'd begin to like you as a person.
you're pretty. really fucking pretty. he can see that now, and he sure as fuck saw it then. you're hardworking. you're just likeable, and that's something katsuki had never been. it (reluctantly) impressed him. worse than that, it turned his feelings for you into a sort of interest.
but he knows he's not normal when it comes to things like this.
he tried to distance himself from you because of it, but it turns out that asking someone to do work for you means you do have to speak to them sometimes. and sometimes turned into a lot of times.
sometimes turned into bringing him coffee in the morning, not because he asked you to, but because you're sweet like that. sometimes turned into being the person he bounced ideas off of when he had a board meeting coming up or something otherwise boring and meticulous. sometimes turned into you laughing at his prickly comments rather than going quiet because of them. turned into you saying suck it up, dynamight, this is what it means to be the boss when he complained about doing paperwork.
sometimes turned into staying late with him at the office, getting take out for the two of you to share while you finished filing claims and damage reports and other stuff he hated taking care of by himself. sometimes turned into him asking you to stay late just because he wanted you there. because even when he was quiet, you'd tell him about your day, about things that happened in the office, about how much you like the book you'd both been reading. he loved listening to you talk. felt comfortable enough to tell you things about himself when he'd never felt comfortable doing that before.
sometimes turned into you holding out a piece of fried tofu from your take-out container for him to eat while he was approving time-off forms that he should have looked at much earlier that week, and you being so close that he could notice how good you smelled, and the warmth of your body basically radiated towards him, like all your energy was focused on him, and your smile was small but somehow even more lovely than usual, a secret for him to tuck away and keep, and when you finished feeding him and he had a little sauce on the corner of his mouth and you reached forward to wipe it off for him and your hand lingered there for a moment and your eyes fell to his lips and what if you try to kiss me and i'm wrong and you hate me for it and what if i can't give you what you want and what if i'm not actually what you want what if i've disappointed you already what ifâ
it was too much.
so he fucked it up. your thumb was so soft against his skin. he reeled backwards in his chair, rolling it whole feet clear of you, and he felt the tearing again, the bad kind, like paper unevenly shredded by clumsy hands, and he had to leave. he had to leave. he needed to leave so badly that it felt like pulling his skin off would be preferable to being in that office with you.
hiding in the bathroom was fucking pitiful. he remembered his breathing exercises. he remembered to ground himself. and when he came back to his office, you were gone.
if he was normalâand he wants to be normal, god fucking damnâhe could have stomached your proximity. he could have eaten out of your fucking hand. he could have touched you back like a normal person probably would have and he wouldn't be here, alone, looking at a little purple sticky note you left him that says i finished organizing the pto forms. i hope you feel better!
he doesn't know whose pride you're trying to save with that. as if you didn't leave because he made things so fucking awkward by running away from you when you touched him. when youâmaybe, if he was reading the room correctlyâwere about to kiss him.
and you don't speak to him for days. he doesn't want to push so he doesn'tâjust watches you out of the corner of his eye whenever you're both in the same room, which is arguably worse. he's not sure. he's just itching to fucking talk to you because he misses it.
he misses you. in a more-than-friends way.
it takes a while for him to realize this. when he does, it hits him like a metal rod up the side of the head. it's fucked up of him to miss you the way he does when he doesn't feel like he can provide you with the things a normal person could. and though he's worked on his patience over the yearsâworked on understanding that he can't have everything he wantsâit doesn't stop him from being selfish and finally pulling you aside to talk.
and baffling as fucking ever, the first thing you say is sorry. "i know i should've talked to you about it earlier. i justâi shouldn't have done that. and i know it. i shouldn't have assumed thatâi don't know. that you..."
you look helpless. it's one of the very few times that katsuki has ever felt the compulsion to touch someone. not because he wants the touch, per se, but because he wants to be able to provide comfort. he never figured out how to do that with words. he's so focused on his inability to comfort you that he barely has any idea of what you're actually talking about. instead of doing anything at all, he just stands there like a fuckwad.
"i just want you to know that i would neverâlike neverâhave touched you, or tried to... if i didn't think there was like, a vibe?" you shake your head, exasperated with yourself. "god, even that sounds so bad. i'm sorry, i justâ"
"wait, what areâ?" and then it clicks, because he's been slow on the uptake figuring out his shit when he should have been focusing way more on yours. "there was..." katsuki says, and he fucking hates that he can't find better words for what you were both feeling in his office, "a vibe."
the way your face changes when you're flustered is one of katsuki's favorite things, but it's not as enjoyable when he feels just as flustered as you look. "iâoh? so... so youâ?"
his ears feel like they're being attacked by two heated straightening irons and he knows they're red as hell right now. he's gonna have to say this plainly even though he'd rather get his teeth pulled out one by one with a pair of pliers. "it's not you."
your expression loses any sort of hope it once held. you press your lips together and sigh, maybe a little exasperated. he's doing his best here but he knows his best is shit. "i can handle a non-clichĂŠ rejection," you tell him. "honestly, i'd prefer a non-clichĂŠ rejectionâ"
"i'm not trying to reject you," he says, and it's selfish of him. because he's really not. he isn't comfortable with the things you'd want from him, but he still wants you in some capacity. "i just don'tâdo shit like that."
"kissing?"
somehow knowing for sure that you did want to kiss him in his office makes him want you more. he likes that you're bold. he likes that you're not ashamed of that. he wants to be different than he is. "any... of it," he struggles to admit.
"at all?"
he nods.
"justâlike touching, and stuff?"
it sounds so juvenile that he can't help but laugh through his nose, roll his eyes. "yeah. touching and stuff."
"oh."
you're disappointed. of course you are. it's not like he expected anything different, butâsometimes he fucking hates his life. hates that he can't be the thing people need him to be. hates that trying is so difficult, that it flings his stomach into space, like a throwing stone skipping across a still lake.
"so you don't go on dates, or anything."
"haven't tried."
"do you not want to?" you ask, and he can tell it's more of a genuine question than anything. you're curious about him, like you always are. it's more than he deserves, for all he can offer.
"doesn't make sense to."
"that's not what i asked."
it's not. and so katsuki listens as you ask your question again, and he really takes a moment to think.
considering the answer to your question leads him to his first date with you. and his second, and his thirdâhis fourth, and he's keenly aware that his last fourth date ended with what he expects all dates are supposed to end with.
he takes you to the aquarium. because of all the fucking origami whale sharks. you still haven't given him one and it sticks in his craw like a bone. in front of the backlit tank that holds sharks of all types, shapes and sizes and teeth he's never pictured possible of a living creature before, he asks, "why sharks?"
you look at him, brow raised. "i don't know. they probably needed the biggest tank in the aquarium. and this looks like the biggest tank."
"no, dumbassâyour sharks. the ones all over the fuckin' office."
"what, you don't like them?" you ask, but you're smiling, sly.
he shrugs. he thinks they're dumb as hell. he wants one to hang up at work, like the ones you've got hung up at your desk. "they're whatever. they clutter the fuck out of ei's office. and he's already got issues organizing." you've just made eijirou so many at his point, and it's getting ridiculous. "but whatâare they easy to make, or something?"
you laugh a little. "no. not at all, actually." a whale shark swims by, its spotted hide shimmering in the tank's eerie blue lighting, and you watch it intently. "but it'd be boring if it was too easy."
this date ends with him walking you home from the aquarium a few blocks from your apartment and you smiling at him and telling him that you had a really great time, and he feels like a fucking freak because you don't even expect more. you don't wait for a kiss. don't look disappointed that he doesn't try to give you one. the way you look at him holds so much affection that he doesn't deserve and he has no idea how to reciprocate it to you, and somehow he lands on, "make me one."
"one what?" you ask, but he thinks you already know what he's asking. you like to play coy. he likes it when you play coy. when you're enjoying yourself.
"one of your little fuckin' paper things," he mutters, because admitting that he wants one of those dumbass sharks feels somehow demeaning. he doesn't want you to know how much he's wanted one. "ei's got a million of 'em."
your hand was on your door handle, but it falls to your side. he's keenly aware of its proximity to him. he doesn't feel that terrible ripping in his gut and its absence is almost frightening to him. your fingers tighten into a fist. it's cold out. "ah, and you're jealous?"
"no," he says, knee-jerk. "i just don't get why everyone gets one but me."
you smile when he says this and he could live in this image of you, delicate and small and made for him. he goes home and thinks about it until he falls asleep. thinks about it even beyond then, feels that strong breeze inside him tearing every leaf from its grounded perch.
here's the thingânothing against jirou, but unlike his other fourth date, this one was enjoyable. more than. he loved watching you be amazed by the size of the whale sharks, and he loved watching you put a bunch of coins into the penny press and cranking the machine until one was squeezed out into the pattern you wanted, and he loved watching you lay your hand against the glass where the rubbery wings of a flood of stingrays battled for your attention, andâ
he loved watching you. that's weird, right? he sounds like a fucking lunatic thinking that.
but he does. he hadn't realized until now how difficult it had been not only to touch people, but to look at them. maintaining eye contact, watching someone do a simple task out of interest instead of staring them down in an attempt to intimidate them. he's so much more fucked up than he thought but what makes it bearable is that he can do it with you. he can watch the way you enjoy things and feel like he's not intruding on something he shouldn't. without even trying, you make him feel welcomeâwanted.
that's it. you make him feel wanted.
the realization affects him in a way he doesn't understand. at work the next day, when you smile at him over the top of the front desk, he feels something incredibly strongâsomething like instinctâthat tells him to touch you. small. a thumb brushed across your cheek. his fingers grazing yours. he wants it in a way that can't be right because he's never wanted to touch someone like this.
he doesn't do it, but he thinks about it all day. your little smiles when you notice him watching you on your dates, the way your fingers graze your lips when you cover your laugh, the softness in the way you regard him. you're quiet, reserved, but when you laugh you laugh hard. he wants your soft, your quiet and your loud, he wants the feeling of your fingers on his lips, he wants your smallest smiles, all things he wishes he could fold up and keep and later display somewhere he can always see them. a school of paper fish, gaping mouths and drawn-on spots and such carefully pressed lines.
so on the eleventh dateâ(he knows it's ridiculous to count, but he's never spent this much time with one person before, not like this)âhe reaches for your hand when you're walking alongside the bay, the air turning cold in the wake of the sunset that the two of you had just witnessed. that's romantic, you'd teased when he asked you to watch it with him. he'd rolled his eyes, shrugged you off.
but maybe he wanted it to be romantic. maybe he wanted to make this as normal as possible for you because nothing has been normal between the two of you so far.
you pull back when he reaches for you, as if on instinct. look up at him, confused, when he reaches out again. "katsuki..." you say, and it sounds as if he's done something wrong.
he tries not to let his brain spiral but thoughts drip inwards. water meeting a dented hull. what has he done this time? what else has he fucked up by being fundamentally wrong?
"you know..." you start, and you lose your words.
he thinks of kyoka, years ago. it's okay, you know. to not like it. he wonders if you'll still text him like she does.
your lips pull into a frown before you speak and katsuki can't breathe. "i was never gonna ask on my own because i know you don't like talking about things like this if you don't bring it up. butâum. katsukiâdo you think i expect something from you?"
"huh?" he asks, dumb. breathing is still something he fails to do.
"i know that this isâdifferent. i know you have some things going on that make the physical part hard for you." you look up at him so earnestly, and he loves looking at you. he loves looking at you and doesn't want to have to stop and he's worried that this is it. the moment he'll have to stop. you try to smile and it's small and he wants it all for himself. careful. delicate. secret, for him. "i'm not gonna lie to you. i don't know what a relationship without that kind of stuff looks like. but that doesn't mean i'm not willing to find out. it'sâi don't need you to try to do something you think i want you to do."
"i'm not."
"it makes me feel a little sick, kat. honestly. it makes me feel like, i don't knowâlike i'm taking advantage of you, or somethingâ"
"you're not."
"you don't have to do things like that to keep me around." you look flustered, eyes darting from his face to the skyline. "if you want me, i'mâyou know."
it's okay, you know. "i don't know."
"i'm yours," you say, and cringe immediately at your words. "or likeâi could be, you know, kind of whatever you wanted, if youâif that's what you want. would want."
katsuki can only remember a few times when his head was this quiet in the presence of someone else. when he trusted someone enough to let his mind go blank, to let himself act on instinct. "can i kiss you?"
you sigh. "this is what i was saying. i don't want you toâ"
"no," he says, quiet, and he's closer to you than he's ever been. he likes the way you smell. he's not gonna apologize if that's weird. "i just wantâgod, i feel pathetic asking again. can i justâ?"
just, just, just. just a touch, just a kiss, just a moment of your fucking timeâit's all he wants. and he's never wanted like this. he's never trusted like this. his head has never quieted entirely because he's so sure that he's not going to disappoint you, or be something you don't actually want, or be wrong.
you've shown him that he can't be wrong with you, regardless of whether or not something within him is broken.
your lips are warm, a little chapped from the dry air, and he tries to remember what kissing chastely is but it's like something breaks in him further the second the two of you touch. his hands are cradling your face, his tongue is gliding against your tongue, his teeth are clacking against your teeth, and he knows the kiss is bad and wrong and messy but he suddenly needs it. he needs to feel you.
you make a noise against him and worry slices into his stomach before he realizes it's a quiet, breathy moan, and maybe you've been okay without the touch but that doesn't mean you don't enjoy it when you receive it. he can tell he hasn't made his boundaries clear enoughâyour hands circle his wrists, too cautious to go further, too hesitant to grip him like he thinks you want to. like he wants you to want to.
his teeth hit yours again and you laugh, and he pulls back, stomach tight. there's a hope in him that's ready to be torn.
you see it in his faceâthe fear. "i love kissing you," you blurt out, as if it's the only reassurance you can think of in the moment. "i meanâyou're just." you laugh again, and he realizes it's nerves. you're just as nervous as he is. "can iâcan we go somewhere warm? and maybe do this more? orâif this was enoughâ"
he's pulling you towards his apartment before you can get another word out.
kissing you is easy because you make him feel like it's relatively new for you as well. maybe that's how it feels for everyone every time, but he wouldn't know. he just feels comfortable with you. like you're not so much better than him, like you're not waiting to laugh at him when he fucks up, like you're touching him because you really want to.
so he takes you to his apartment and puts you on his couch and kisses you until your back is against the armrest and he's looming over you and you feel comfortable enough that your hands stray from his wrists to his shoulders to his hair and he didn't even know touching someone could feel like this.
put aside the fact that he's nearly finished in his fucking jeans three times just from your fingers running across his back, from the way you cup his cheek when he pulls back for air because he keeps forgetting to breatheâjust having you close is intoxicating. he wants to bury his face in the curve of your shoulder, he wants to bite marks into your skin that'll stay vibrant for weeks, he wants to etch himself into you so deeply that he doesn't have to leave. these wants aren't even sexualâit's something about having you be his. i'm yours, you'd told him, and he hadn't even known that it would be exactly what he needed to hear.
he's in love with you, which isn't shocking to him, but he knows he shouldn't be in love with you yet because people that aren't fucked up in the head don't feel shit like this so quickly. he's not gonna tell you this for a very long time, but he knowsâso completely and confidentlyâthat he will reach a point when he can tell you.
"you sure you want this?" he asks, breathy, between kisses.
you stop kissing him, brows raised in surprise. "katsuki, we don't... this is a lot for one night. we can take it slow, still."
"that'sâi'm not talking about that." he gives in, thenâlets himself bury his face in the crook of your neck, lets himself breathe in deep, lets himself find your hands and intertwine your fingers, and you can probably feel that he's hard as fucking metal for you but that's not what's important right now. it sure as hell makes it awkward to try to have a serious conversation, though. "you sure you wanna deal with all... you know. my stuff."
"are you sure you wanna deal with all of my stuff?" you counter, and he pulls back to look at you. kissed rotten and smiling. "of course i want to deal with it. i like you."
and he likes you too. god, he likes you so fucking much.
the next morning, long after you've left for home, he finds a little orange whale shark hidden behind the alarm clock on his bedside table, stars in the place of eyes, and the trace of you is enough to make him feel warm. to hope that over time his apartment becomes full of the little paper creatures until his home is its own aquarium, until everywhere he looks is a memory of all you've brought himâpieces of you, perfectly arranged and delicately folded by your careful hands, much too gentle to tear.
#bakugou x reader#katsuki bakugou x reader#bkg#fics#heehee idk even.... what this is. back on my angst bullshit. but it was fun to write!!!!#would love to be on here more often and write more little things like this would love if life wasn't like incredibly busy all the time

My dear lgbt+ kids,Â
I have already written a post for people who spend the holidays alone - hereâs one for those who wish they could spend the holidays alone but canât.Â
Maybe you have a strained relationship with your family (or specific family members). Maybe you generally have an okay relationship but the holiday season brings out the worst in them. Maybe you are closeted and will be misgendered or have to face countless âwhen will you finally find a boyfriend/girlfriendâ questions. Maybe you have to choose between celebrating with your family or your partner and either choice comes with grief, so youâd rather just skip it altogether.Â
Or maybe it has nothing to do with any specific relationships - maybe you are struggling with depression, addiction, anxiety etc. and would prefer to avoid the stress. Maybe you deal with fatigue or chronic pain and worry how youâll get through it. Maybe the holidays are a sensory nightmare for you. Maybe you feel uncomfortable in big groups or around distant family members you donât know well.Â
No matter the reason: youâre not a bad person for having that âI wish I could be aloneâ or âI wish I could skip the celebrationsâ or âI wish I could just sleep through this dayâ feeling. There are countless valid reasons for that feeling and you donât even need me to list yours here for it to be valid. Thereâs nothing magic about holidays that makes them a day you have to be happy. Just like any other day, you are allowed to have negative emotions.Â
Itâs so easy to say âCut off your familyâ or âYou have no obligationsâ. But not everyone can easily do that. Even if your family sucks or even if you feel horrible: there are cases where you just canât stay at home alone and not see anyone, no matter how much you want to. Youâre not weak for ânot standing up for yourselfâ or anything like that. Sometimes things just suck and thereâs nothing you can do about it.Â
All I can say is that I see you and I think about you and I wish you all the strength you need.Â
With all my love,Â
Your Tumblr DadÂ

Bucktommy Î WC: 3400 Î Christmas fic Î cw: unintentional self-harm
I might have some kind of fixation with writing them drunk but well... I love seeing them messy and pathetic sue me đ
also on ao3
"Bar fights on Christmas Eve. Why is this a thing?" Hen muttered.
Eddie adjusted his gloves, surveying the scene. "Maybe Santa didnât bring what they wanted."
Chimney chuckled. "Or someone sang âLast Christmasâ one too many times."
Buck stayed quiet, his mind already churning with a mix of irritation and exhaustion. As they approached, a police officer waved them over.
"This oneâs yours... I think," the officer said, jerking his thumb toward someone sitting on the curb. Buckâs stomach sank as soon as he recognized the messy mop of dark hair.
"Tommy?" Buckâs voice came out in disbelief.
Hen tilted her head, narrowing her eyes. "Oh no.â
Tommy looked up, his face marked with a bruise along his cheekbone and a faint cut near his eyebrow. His hair was disheveled, his shirt wrinkled and slightly damp as if someone had spilled a drink on him. Despite all of this, he grinned widely. "Heyyyyy! Look whoâs here! Evan! No Buck!! My favorite ex!"
Chimney blinked, caught between disbelief and amusement. "Okay, Christmas just got interesting."
Buck groaned, already dreading whatever explanation was coming. "What happened?"
Tommy tried moving, the cuffs clinking as he gestured grandly. "Do you know how great you are, Evan? Youâre likeâlike Santa, but with better arms!"
"Okay, heâs drunk," Eddie said, tryingâand failingâto hide his amusement.
Hen smirked. "No kidding, detective."
The officer sighed. "Bar fight broke out. He didnât throw any punches, but he got hit, refused medical attention, and wouldnât leave when we asked. Kept insisting he was fine."
"I am fine," Tommy slurred, his voice betraying just how much he wasnât. "They didnât mean it. They were just⌠passionate about pool tables."
Eddie raised an eyebrow. "They punched you in the face."
"And the ribs," Tommy added cheerfully. "But I didnât hit back! Isnât that the Christmas spirit?"
Chimney snorted, already enjoying this far more than he should. "You got sucker-punched, and your takeaway is holiday cheer?"
"Forgiveness is key, Howie," Tommy declared dramatically. He leaned back slightly, his cuffs clinking. "Iâm basically a saint."
Hen crouched in front of him, tilting her head. "How much did you drink?"
Tommy squinted, holding up his fingers. "Two? Maybe four? Could be six. Mathâs hard."
The officer crossed his arms, visibly irritated. "He was trying to mediate, but when things got heated, one of the guys turned on him. Said something about him 'looking smug'âwhatever that means."
Tommy perked up. "I do look smug! Itâs my default face."
"Congratulations," Buck muttered. "You got punched for your great personality."
Hen smirked. "To be fair, itâs a punchable face."
"Thanks, Hen. Love you too," Tommy shot back, swaying slightly. "But seriously, I didnât even fight back. I just told them to calm down, and, bam, fist to the face. It was⌠educational."
Eddie crossed his arms. "You learned nothing."
"I learned not to stand too close to drunk strangers holding beer bottles," Tommy said wisely.
The officer announced. "Look, if you can take him off our hands, Iâm willing to let him go. Just⌠keep him out of trouble."
Tommy perked up. "See? Iâm very cooperative. Just askâwhatâs your name again? Officer Friendly?"
Buck said shocked and unbelieving âLet him go? You said he didnât even hit back! Why is he even cuffed?? Why didnât you just let him leave?â
The officer shrugged. "He was being stubborn. Kept saying he was fine, didnât need help, and that he was 'the spirit of Christmas.' You try reasoning with that."
Tommy nodded proudly. "I am the spirit of Christmas. Forgiveness, love, and mild head injuries."
Chimney shook his head, grinning. "Oh, this is gold. Someone should write this down."
Eddie crouched beside Tommy, examining his bruised face. "Doesnât look like itâs broken, but youâll need an ice pack.â
The officer muttered something under his breath while uncuffing him, and Eddie stood up to help Tommy stand.
"Youâre lucky they didnât haul you in," Eddie said, steadying him. "But seriously, you okay?"
Tommy waved a hand, swaying slightly. "Never better. Just a little⌠dented."
"Dented," Buck repeated, his jaw tightening as he noticed the way Tommy flinched when Eddie accidentally brushed his side. "Weâre checking those ribs now.â
Tommy looked at him with an exaggerated pout. "Evan, youâre still bossy. I missed that."
Buck rolled his eyes, biting back the mix of worry and frustration bubbling inside him. "Letâs go."
Tommy suddenly leaned toward Buck, sniffing dramatically. "You smell good. Like cookies. Did you bake? You totally baked."
"Sit down, Tommy," Buck said, guiding him toward the ambulance. "And stop sniffing me."
"Can we keep him like this?" Hen asked. "Heâs much more entertaining."
"Yeah, itâs like finding a unicorn," Eddie added. "Drunk, unfiltered Tommy. Never thought Iâd see the day."
Once Tommy was helped into the ambulance, Buck followed close behind, his jaw tight with concern. Tommy sat on the gurney, looking dazed but still trying to joke.
"See? Iâm fine. Youâre overreacting. Classic Evan."
"Take your shirt off," Buck said, already pulling gloves on. "We need to check for bruising."
Tommy leaned back against the gurney, his grin widening lazily. "Oooh you are a medic now? If you wanted to see me shirtless, you couldâve just asked. No need for the whole Christmas emergency."
"Tommy, stop," Buck said, exasperated, his voice sharp with worry. "Just let me check."
Tommy shook his head, folding his arms defiantly. "Nope. Not letting you play doctor."
Hen stepped in, putting a hand on Buckâs shoulder. "Let the professionals handle this, Buck."
"I can handle it," Buck argued, his eyes fixed on Tommy. "Heâs hurt."
Chimney appeared on Buckâs other side, smirking. "Heâs always been stubborn. Youâre not gonna win this one. Let us do our job."
Buck hesitated, his hands falling to his sides as Hen gently nudged him out of the way. She crouched in front of Tommy, her voice calm but commanding. "Alright, Tommy. You donât get a choice. Shirt off, now."
Tommy sighed dramatically, wincing slightly as he pulled off his jacket and shirt. Underneath, dark bruises were spreading across his ribs and a faint red mark lingered along his shoulder.
Hen frowned. "That looks nasty. Youâre definitely going to the hospital."
"Itâs just a bruise," Tommy said with a wave of his hand. "Tough guy stuff, you know."
Chimney raised an eyebrow. "Tough guys donât take punches like that without flinching. Which you did, by the way."
"Thatâs because Iâm cool under pressure," Tommy said with exaggerated flair.
Buck, standing nearby, crossed his arms tightly, his jaw set. "Cool under pressure doesnât mean you donât need help. Youâre going to the hospital, Tommy."
Tommy tilted his head toward Buck, his smile turning genuine.
Buck didnât wait for him to speak, his eyes flicking to the bruises before meeting Tommyâs gaze. "Letâs just get you taken care of."
Hen cleared her throat. "Alright, playtimeâs over. Chim, get the monitor. Weâre not taking chances with those ribs."
Tommy slumped back against the gurney, his grin faint but still there. "You guys really are like family. Dysfunctional, but family. Awesome."
As Hen and Chimney worked, Buck hovered nearby, his concern palpable. Tommyâeven drunkânoticed, his voice softening. "Hey, Evan. Iâm okay."
"You donât look okay," Buck said, his voice clipped.
"But I will be," Tommy murmured. "Thanks⌠to you and all of you."
The ambulance hummed quietly as it crossed the dark streets, the faint sound of sirens cutting through the stillness. Buck sat on the bench across from Tommy, his eyes fixed on him as Hen drove and Chimney worked on notes up front. Tommy leaned back against the gurney, arms folded across his chest, his bruised face turned toward the ceiling.
"You going to tell me what happened?" Buck asked, breaking the silence.
Tommy tilted his head, a small grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. "What? Didnât the officer give you the play-by-play? Itâs pretty simple, guy punches me, I forgive him, everyone moves on."
Buckâs jaw tightened. "Thatâs not what I meant."
"Well, you gotta be more specific, Evan," Tommy said, the grin widening. "Iâve had a lot of adventures tonight. Bar fights, karaoke, getting arrested⌠Itâs been a full Christmas Eve."
Buck leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. "I mean why you were even there. Why were you drinking alone? Why did you let someone hit you and justâwave it off?"
Tommy shrugged, his expression still light. "Maybe I was spreading Christmas cheer. You know, turn the other cheek and all that."
"Tommy," Buck said, his voice sharper now, "this isnât funny."
"Neither are you, but we all have our flaws," Tommy quipped, winking. "Come on, lighten up. Itâs Christmas."
Buckâs patience frayed. "Youâre covered in bruises and sitting in an ambulance, and youâre joking. Why canât you just be serious now for five minutes?"
The grin on Tommyâs face faltered, and he turned his head away, looking at the far wall of the ambulance. His voice, when it came, was quieter. "Because serious didnât help."
The tension in the small space grew, and for a moment, neither of them said anything. Buck exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand over his face, trying to rein in his frustration. His eyes drifted to Tommy again, and thatâs when he noticed itâhis eyes, red and puffy, like heâd been crying before the fight.
"TommyâŚ" Buck started, his voice softer. "Have you beenâ"
"Donât," Tommy interrupted, his tone flat. "Just⌠donât."
Buck fell silent, studying him closer. The faint hollows beneath Tommyâs cheekbones were more pronounced than he remembered, and the way his jacket hung slightly looser over his frame caught his attention. He wasnât skinny, but he was leanerâmore muscular, yes, but not in a healthy way. It looked like someone whoâd been skipping meals and pushing too hard.
"Youâre not eating enough," Buck said, the words slipping out before he could stop them.
Tommy glanced at him, his expression unreadable. "Didnât realize you were also a nutritionist now."
Buckâs concern only deepened. "Youâre overworking yourself. Youâve always done that, but thisâthis is different."
Tommyâs jaw tightened, and he looked away again, his voice barely audible. "Iâm fine, Evan."
"No, youâre not," Buck shot back, but Tommy didnât respond. He stayed quiet, his gaze fixed on the window as the city lights blurred by.
After a long stretch of silence, Tommy murmured so quietly that Buck almost missed it. "I HATE Christmas. Stupid captainââYou are taking Christmas off, Kinard.â Stupid, stupid."
Buck glanced at him, startled by the soft admission. Tommyâs head lolled slightly to the side, and his eyes were heavy-lidded, but the slurred bitterness in his tone cut through the haze of drunkenness.
âStupid Christmas. Stupid captain made me take it off. What else was I supposed to do?â
"TommyâŚ" Buck started, but Tommy didnât look at him. Instead, he muttered something unintelligible and leaned back against the gurney, his expression shutting down entirely.
The ambulance fell silent again, save for the faint hum of the engine. Buck leaned back against the bench, his hands gripping his knees as he tried to process what Tommy had saidâor what he didnât say. He wanted to push, to get answers, but the look on Tommyâs faceâthe shut-down, closed-off expressionâstopped him. For now, at least.
âŚ
The fluorescent lights in the hospital room buzzed as the doctor stood at the foot of Tommyâs bed, flipping through his chart. Tommy sat up slightly, one hand rubbing his forehead as he squinted at the doctor. He was more coherent now, though his eyes still held a hint of fatigue.
âHereâs what weâre looking at,â the doctor began. âBruised cheek bone, two stitches on the cut above your eyebrow, bruised ribs, andââ he paused, giving Tommy a pointed look, ââa mild concussion. Turns out you did hit your head during the fight. But with how drunk you were, it wasnât immediately obvious if it was the alcohol or a concussion causing your symptoms.â
Tommy groaned, leaning back against the pillows. âGreat. So Iâm a walking disaster. Is that what youâre saying?â
The doctor didnât smile. âIâm saying weâre keeping you overnight for observation. Itâs standard with head injuries, and given your conditionââ
âIâm fine,â Tommy interrupted, waving a hand dismissively. âLook, thanks for the concern, but I donât need to stay here. I just need some water, maybe a snack, and Iâll be out of your hair.â
The doctor raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. âYou have a concussion and bruised ribs. This isnât up for debate.â
âDebate? Come on,â Tommy said, his voice edging on pleading. âIâve had worse. Iâm a firefighter, I know what Iâm saying. Just let me go home, and Iâll sleep it off.â
âYouâre staying,â Buckâs voice cut through the room before the doctor could respond.
Tommy turned his head sharply, his tired eyes narrowing. âWhy are you even here?â he snapped. âJust go. You got me checked in, thatâs enough. Thank you very much!â
Buck didnât flinch, didnât rise to the bait. Instead, he took a step closer, the tension in his face eased, despite the frustration still lingering in his voice. âIâm not going anywhere. And youâre staying the night. End of discussion.â
Tommy scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest before wincing as the motion aggravated his bruised ribs. âUnbelievable. You think you can just waltz in here andââ
âTommy,â Buck interrupted again. âYou need to rest. Stop arguing.â
For a moment, Tommy just stared at him, his jaw clenched tightly, but he didnât have the energy to keep up the fight. He let out a frustrated sigh, looking away. âFine. Whatever.â
Buck nodded once, then turned toward the door. âIâm going to tell everyone your state and that youâre staying the night.â
That stopped Tommy cold. âEveryone?â His voice was sharper now, his head snapping back toward Buck.
Buck paused, glancing over his shoulder, his expression unreadable. âEveryone who needs to know.â
âŚ
When Buck came back Tommy was lying back against the pillows, his face slightly turned to one side. His breathing was slow but uneven, like he was trying to stay awake despite the pull of exhaustion. Buck sat in the chair beside the bed, scrolling through his phone, his leg bouncing slightly in nervous habit.
Minutes passed, the quiet of the hospital only broken by the occasional beep from the monitor. Tommy stirred slightly, his eyes fluttering open. For a moment, he just lay there, staring at Buck, who hadnât noticed he was awake. Tommyâs gaze lingered on him, taking in the familiar slope of his shoulders, the furrow of his brow as he focused on his screen. Finally, Tommy sighed, his voice soft and scratchy.
âAnother Christmas at the hospital. Old habits die hard, huh?â
Buckâs head snapped up, startled. âUh, you woke up.â
Tommy smiled faintly, shifting slightly on the bed. âYeah, happens sometimes.â
Buck leaned forward, tucking his phone away. âHow are you feeling? Do you need anything? Should I call the doctor?â
Tommy shook his head and immediately regretted it, wincing as pain shot through his temple. âOw. Nope. Definitely no head shaking.â
Buck stood quickly, his concern sharpening. âYou okay? Want me to get someone?â
âIâm fine,â Tommy said, his voice sharp. He looked at Buck and gave a small, sheepish smile. âThanks for staying, though. Uh⌠sorry about your shift.â
Buck moved to stand beside the bed, waving it off casually. âBobby gave me the rest off. Iâll cover another shift later. Itâs fine.â
Tommy winced again as he shifted to sit up a little straighter. âYeah, sorry⌠you know you didnât have to.â
Buckâs expression relaxed, but there was a weight to his gaze as he looked down at Tommy. For a moment, neither of them said anything. Then, without warning, Buck reached out, his hand brushing gently against Tommyâs bruised cheek.
Tommy froze, startled by the touch. His instinct was to lean back, but instead, he found himself leaning into Buckâs palm, almost without thinking. âUh, whatâŚâ
âTommy... youâre hurt,â Buck said, his voice quiet and firm.
Tommy blinked at him, then let out a soft, breathy laugh. âDuh.â
Buck didnât move his hand, his thumb grazing just below the cut near Tommyâs eyebrow. âNo, Tommy,â he said, his voice heavier now. âYouâre hurt.â
The words landed with a weight that seemed to knock the air out of the room. Tommy stared up at him, his expression unreadable, until his eyes began to glisten. He blinked rapidly, turning his face slightly to avoid Buckâs gaze. âIâm fine,â he murmured.
âYouâre not,â Buck said, lowering his hand but not stepping away. âAnd you donât have to pretend with me.â
Tommy swallowed hard, his jaw tightening as he tried to push the emotion back down. âItâs nothing I canât handle,â he said finally.
Buck pulled the chair closer and sat down his eyes drifted to the bruises shadowing Tommyâs cheek and the faint red line where the stitches had been placed, âYou donât always have to handle it alone, you know. You can⌠let someone in. Let me in.â
For a long moment, Tommy didnât respond. Then he exhaled slowly, leaning his head back against the pillow.
âI think I forgot how.â his voice quiet, almost fragile. It was the kind of admission that wasnât meant to be heard aloud.
Buckâs chest tightened at the words. He gave a faint, sad smile. âThen weâll figure it out.â
Tommyâs gaze flicked toward him, a flicker of something in his eyesâdoubt, maybe hope, but definitely vulnerability. It wasnât a side of Tommy Buck had seen often, and it wasnât one Tommy would have willingly shown under normal circumstances. But here, under the dim hospital lights, stripped of his usual defenses, he couldnât hide.
Tommy shifted slightly, his fingers absentmindedly brushing the edge of the hospital blanket, where Buck's hand rested. âYouâre stubborn, you know that?â he muttered, his tone lighter now, though the exhaustion still lingered.
Buck let out a small laugh. âTakes one to know one.â
Tommy smirked faintly at that, but the expression didnât quite reach his eyes. âI donât know why youâre still here.â
Buck leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. âBecause you need someone to be.â
Tommy swallowed hard, his jaw tightening. âI donât know if I deserve that.â
Buckâs response was immediate, no hesitation in it. âYou do.â
For a moment, Tommy said nothing, his eyes drifting toward the window, where the faint glow of the city lights filtered through the blinds. âIâm not good at this,â he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Buck straightened slightly, his gaze steady and unwavering. âYou donât have to be. I told you weâll figure it out together.â
Tommy looked at him again, his lips pressing into a thin line as if he wanted to say something but couldnât quite find the words. Instead, he noddedâjust a small, almost imperceptible movementâand leaned his head back against the pillow once more.
Buck hesitated, then said quietly, âUh⌠Merry ChristmasâŚ?â
The words seemed to break something loose in Tommy. He suddenly sat up, his movements sharp and panicked, a decision he regretted immediately. His face contorted in pain as he squeezed his eyes shut, a wince escaping his lips. âShit,â he hissed, his hand instinctively clutching his side. âShit, Evan, itâs Christmas!â
Buck blinked, caught off guard by the outburst. âTommyââ
âYou should be with your family, not in a hospital!â Tommyâs voice cracked slightly, and his hands trembled as he rubbed at his face. His breathing hitched, and for a moment, it looked like he was on the verge of tears. âI didnât mean toâ You shouldnât beâ God, this is allââ
âTommy,â Buck interrupted softly, standing and taking a step closer to the bed.
Tommy shook his head, his voice dropping to a whisper. âYou should be with your family. Orâhell, with the 118âtheyâre your family anyway.â
Buck sighed, ducking his head for a moment as he tried to steady himself. Then, with quiet determination, he moved closer, cupping Tommyâs face with both hands and gently forcing him to meet his gaze.
âTommy,â he said firmly, his voice steady and filled with certainty. âDonât you get it? I am exactly where I want to be.â

cis people reading this post, you should understand two things:
1) if you think you are being kind and have a good relationship with a trans person, and you misgender them or deadname them once or more every time you see them, you are not being kind, and you probably don't have as good of a relationship as you think.
why? because misgendering and deadnaming fucking hurts. it actually hurts more than you can comprehend. it hurts like hell. it hurts like you just got stabbed for real and i'm not joking and it never ever feels better.
so answer me this: if you wanted to hang out with someone you love, and every time you did so they stabbed you once or twice with a big sharp knife and it hurt like fucking hell and left a lasting wound on you, would you still go hang out with that person regularly? if not, why do you feel entitled that the trans person you have this relationship should come visit you, knowing that possibly more than once you'll deadname or misgender them? why are you putting a knife to their throat?
2) you actually, inherently, need to put in more effort about the little parts of speech, such as pronouns, names, and gendering words and phrases, when talking to a transgender person rather than a cisgender person. it's actually more effort. you need to take the time when talking to make sure you phrase things correctly so you aren't misgendering them or deadnaming them. because, as we've established, and even though it might be a simple mistake to you, it hurts like hell to them, like a knife entering their body.
cisgender people do not have this problem, so it's somewhat harder to hurt them in casual conversation by mixing up a pronoun (which is a common mistake when talking without thinking too much for anyone!). when talking to a trans person, you need to think about your words. every cis person i've ever met not only doesn't understand this, but feels entitled to not having to pay any more attention to gendering me correctly than any cis person. and that doesn't work, because cis people don't get stabbed by simple words that are easy to mix up. you gotta talk slower and more thoughtfully until gendering this person right is second nature and if you don't you will hurt them and they'll bleed and it will be entirely your fault.
trans people are not weak because they can be hurt by your carelessness-- rather, you are cruel for hurting them for it. and the only way to not hurt them is to stop and take a second to think about what you'll say before you say it to them. but no cis person i've ever met understands this. maybe you could be the first?
sometimes i see cis people say "trans people will understand if you misgender them at first. i call my nephew 'her' all the time and he knows i don't mean it" no he doesnt. he probably never hangs out with you for more than ten minutes because that's how long you can last in a conversation before making him feel like shit. also he thinks you're, best case scenario, stupid for not being able to figure it out, or worst case scenario, uncaring about him and his needs. he doesn't like spending time with you. you're deluding yourself into thinking you're far kinder than you are. you're weird man.

Hiiii, i have request for a fem r x jinx, so like r and jinx have known each other alll their lives, maybe r is like sevika's niece or smth close, then when jinx gets adopted by silco, they ontinue to grow close until they become lovers, now you can do whatever you want here, just req that somehow r gets seperated with jinx and joins ekko and the professor breaking into the lab, which led to r joining then in the alt uni, the same time as ekko or maybe earlier, then au!jinx(she's alr r's gf in that au) suddenly gets worried or jealous cause ekko and r suddenly without any reason becomes close and starts spending time together, you can end it however u want, just give us a happy ending!! That's it rllyyy, thank you for reading this req, and it's ok if you can't do it, no pressureee
of course!! thank you for the request <3
this one is pretty long, sorry ^^; i just wanted to include everything and do your request justice
summary; sevikaâs niece, jinxâs childhood best friend becomes jinxâs girlfriend. they get separated in the alternate universe, and powder grows jealous.
characters included; jinx, powder (act iii au), sevika (familial), ekko (platonic)
tags/warnings; fluff, hurt/comfort, s2 spoilers, idk if sevika has living relatives but we're making up a sibling for the story, mentions of death, arguing, mentions of drinking and smoking, jealous powder
men dni.
sevika has never been great with children. the day you were born, your small form writhing in her brother's arms as you cried, and cried, and cried, sevika didn't know what to do with herself. this was family. sevika was loyal to family. but she just... couldn't deal.
yet as you grew older, she grew used to it. whenever you went to auntie sev's, she pulled out whatever non-alcoholic drink she had for you, pouring it in a stained glass and sitting down opposite you at her table. she'd teach you to play card games- ones appropriate for children, of course. war, go fish, the like. nothing like the blackjack or poker that gave her a thrill under dim lights, but it was honestly... nice, to have this company. even if you were small and still struggling to speak for yourself.
she found herself growing comfortable with you. she had always loved you, had always cared for you. you were her niece. but the fact that you were still learning to navigate the world, learning how to be a person, scared sevika- especially considering the state of the undercity. how was a child supposed to thrive in such a troubled city? how were sevika and her brother supposed to protect you from the harm that inevitably comes everyone's way?
and then, you found a friend. a little girl, no more than a few months older than you, with turquoise hair and warm, sky-blue eyes. powder was her name. a playful, friendly girl who would play tag with you in the alleyways of the lanes. she showed you all of her contraptions, little bombs with scribbled drawings of various animals for faces. handmade. your young mind found this incredible. how could one girl have this much talent?
each day, after your lessons, you'd go to a specific place close to a boarded up, abandoned home in the outskirts of zaun. it became yours and your friend's designated spot. a spot where powder would train, punching and kicking at the air with a wide grin, you sitting and observing. a spot where sheâd sit down and whistle her favorite songs painfully out of tune. a spot where you shared secrets, talked about her adventures with her siblings, and you shared your frustrations about stupid homework. you'd brag about how cool your auntie sevika was.
"she's just so strong! and she can fight off anyone. she plays games with me, and she helps me with my reading work. even if it's hard."
powder's eyes would widen, and she'd nod enthusiastically.
"really? she sounds awesome! maybe i'll get to fight like her one day..."
"why can't you?"
and then powder would grumble, her eyes flickering down as she folded her hands in her lap.
"my sister doesn't think i'm ready. she says i'm not experienced enough."
she makes air quotes when she says 'experienced enough,' huffing and rolling her eyes. you'd reach out to squeeze her shoulder, trying to give any kind of comfort. you weren't the best at offering consolation, but you could at least do this for her.
when powder came to that same spot a mere few weeks later, she was bursting at the seams with excitement. she couldn't stay still, and as soon as the girl saw you, she bolted in your direction. throwing her arms around you and squealing. you were confused- but powder was clearly happy, possibly the happiest you'd ever seen her. so you wrapped your arms around her in return. she pulled her face back, blue eyes sparkling.
"vi finally said i'm ready. i'm going on a job, tomorrow! topside! it's gonna be a good one."
powder was positively beaming, and you could only smile. you tried to find the words for a moment, although you were ecstatic for her.
"really? that's awesome!"
"mhm! she said she's gonna take me with the others, and i can help!"
powder heard violet's voice calling for her from the end of the alley, seemingly having searched for her. she looked back at you.
"i'll see you soon, okay?"
then, radio silence.
you visited your usual spot a few times after that, your heart wrenching in your chest upon seeing the spot powder usually occupied empty. you had heard rumors swirling around of powder being caught after her job, her sister growing angry. yet, you didn't want to believe it. powder was your best friend, she was amazing! there was nothing the girl couldn't do.
but it was true. your best friend, powder, didn't pull it off. an arrest. an explosion. what caused it? what happened to powder?
it was driving your mind wild, pulling you in different directions and eating at your insides. you asked around, other children of zaun, but each one ignored you, shook their head, shrugged, muttered a quiet 'i don't know.' it was killing you.
that was, until the next time you visited your aunt. you sat down at her dining table, cheap leather peeling off of the seat. uneven legs, heightening your fear of toppling over any time you shifted. sevika brewed coffee instead of lighting her usual cigar, her back turned to you as she slowly moved through the kitchen.
"hey, aunt sev?"
you asked, voice unsure. shaking.
"huh?"
she responded, her back still turned to you.
"you know my friend, powder. you've met her, haven't you?" you saw sevika pause, leaning over to brace her hands on the edge of the counter. "she's kinda... missing. do you know what happened?"
"i do."
she responded, tone blunt with a sharp edge. you winced at this, you knew just how scary your aunt could be if provoked. but you cared too much for powder, this was too important-
"she's with silco and i. he took her in. she's a problem."
"a problem?"
your heart sunk in your chest. god, how could your best friend be a problem?
"yes. she's distracting silco, but he insists that she'll be an asset."
"please, sev, tell me m-"
the woman turned her back and slammed an empty mug onto the table.
"i'm not talking about this anymore."
â§.*
the day after your seventeenth birthday was when you found powder- âjinx,â they now called her. a dark alleyway in the outermost of zaun, not far off from your spot just a few years prior. youâd begun taking morning walks to clear your head of all the bullshit that came with being a young girl in the middle of a troubled city- one with a close relative who worked for silco of all people. to get the swirling anxiety, political unrest, friends disappearing left and right, all of it- out of your damn mind.
youâd experimented with walking routes, going through the lanes, through some of the highest roads in zaun, but none were quite as⌠peaceful as the outskirts. much more nature, less people, more tranquil than any other area. your head hung low, hands in your pocket, gaze on the ground. whistling.
you would recognize that sound anywhere. the same song powder used to always whistle, you heard it again. the tone was a bit deeper, a bit more raspy, but god, it had to be her. your head shot up, eyes darting around for the source of the song. busted windows, trash cans⌠blue braids.
your feet moved quicker than your mind could. you ran to the girl, breathless, throwing your arms around her.
and then she pushed you off of her, your back hitting the ground.
âpowder- powder, what the fuck?! you donât remember me?â
she stood over you, breath heaving, blue eyes boring directly through you. searching for any sign of danger or betrayal, studying your featuresâŚ
âoh. oh.â
âpowder, please-â
the girl yanked you up by your shoulders and got onto her knees, immediately pulling you into a bone-crushing hug. long nails dug into the fabric of your top.
âitâs jinx now.â
oh. oh god. youâd heard that name before. the name of a master criminal in the making, under the watchful eye of silco. his prodĂŠgĂŠ, his daughter. she had been powder, this entire time? under your nose for years, and you had no idea?
you wrapped your arms back around her, tentative, so scared to break her. the way she flinched told you all you needed to know.
âpo-jinx, itâs okay⌠youâre okayâŚâ
she only held you, her chin resting on your shoulder.
"a lot has changed."
"i know. but it's okay." you pause. "are you busy?"
jinx has her hands resting on your shoulders, pulling back the same way that she did the day before her job.
"no... no, not right now. why?"
the corner of your lips tug into a gentle smile.
"we have some catching up to do."
â§.*
the first thing jinx did was drag you around her newfound hideout. slim floors of metal with a seemingly endless drop below them, and a lack of railings. anxiety peaked as you walked through her home, but it was... charming. black lights paired with bright, colorful graffiti enhancing each surface. her face lit up as she showed you each of her handmade weapons.
you remembered the young powder with a single braid and defected color bombs, but these..? these were fully functioning explosives and assault weapons. god, where did she learn to do this?
"hey, whatcha thinking about?"
you're pulled out of your thoughts by one of jinx's fingers poking at your forehead. her blue eyes fixed on you...
"nothing. just... this is different."
jinx swings a leg over her seat at her workbench, picking up... a blowtorch?
"well, yeah. i told you things changed."
she quips, so nonchalant. how could she be so calm about her new lifestyle? it was such a drastic change, yet you couldn't help but... admire it. the environment surrounding you was a direct reflection of the person your friend had become. pilties feared her, zaunites revered her. to be able to make such a name for herself and have the unwavering sense of justice jinx had at such a young age was incredible to you.
god, jinx. she had really been staring you in the face for all of these years.
"tell me more.â
you said, slowly settling down beside her, bracing your elbows on the cold metal.
âoh, where to start?â she grinned. âwell, right now iâm doing a lot in the way of enforcers and firelights. inventing, and all that. blowing stuff up.â
she giggled, not looking at you for a second. her thin hands held one of the very blue crystals a young powder held as if a precious amulet.
âand what about silco?â
âsilco? heâs great! heâs always believed in me, said iâm smart and i can do whatever i put my mind to. he thinks iâm perfect.â
she hums, continuing to tinker away. your heart sinks the slightest bit. although silco was definitely a symbol of the undercity, he was feared. it just didnât sit right with you. for him to have somebody like jinx in his grasp was frightening, but if she turned out relatively okay in the end, it was fine⌠right?
âoh, and sevikaâs an ass.â
âmy aunt?â
jinx turns to you suddenly, lifting her goggles off her face.
âsince when is sevika your aunt?â
ââŚsince i was born?â
you reply, raising an eyebrow⌠the same way sevika does with jinx. she folds over in a fit of laughter, her forehead on the workbench-
âoh, oh gods! thatâs too good. how did i not know?â
â§.*
october 10.
jinxâs birthday.
jinxâs eighteenth birthday.
being slightly younger than her, you didnât know exactly what was appropriate for an eighteenth birthday celebration. you were never good at birthdays to begin with. but you had to think, think. this is for jinx.
youâd grown accustomed to her new lifestyle, the mischief that followed her everywhere she went. whether she always found trouble or trouble always found her, you were unsure, but one thing was for certain: she had grown into one of the most badass women youâve ever met. becoming close with her again, stepping into her shoes and experiencing a taste of jinxâs world, it was almost as if nothing had changed. in terms of your friendship, at least. she would still talk about her sister (although their relationship was less than ideal now), show you her contraptions, and whistle her favorite songs.
except for when you noticed your affections for jinx becoming something more than what was appropriate for friends.
curse you, curse you for falling for your childhood best friend. that was what you kept telling yourself. how could you fall for someone you had considered your best friend for so long? the thought of losing jinx again over something as trivial as a crush made your heart ache.
so you repressed it.
you repressed the way that your heart skipped a beat when she inched closer to you on her workbench.
you repressed the way her smile brought a swarm of butterflies to your stomach.
you repressed the way you wished to call her late at night just to hear her voice.
you repressed the way those blue eyes could make you give in to anything.
but thatâs not important. no. whatâs important is decorating jinxâs hideout while sheâs out on a job for her birthday and throwing together a cake. pink and blue banners, big balloons with the number â18,â crude paper-mache iterations of her monkey bombs, and making a gift.
you were hunched over your desk for hours trying to make her a charm bracelet, representative of your history. scrap metal from crushed cans, pliers, discarded chains, and acrylic paint could take you further than you expected. a mouse, for mouser. a blue ball, for her crystals. a can of spray paint. a bomb. a monkey. all little charms representative of what made jinx jinx.
did you burn yourself? yes. did you have to bandage yourself from getting cut by thin metal? also yes. but it was for her.
and a card. you decided in the days leading up to jinxâs birthday that you had to tell her somehow how you felt. it was eating up at you from the inside out.
when jinx arrived to her hideout, kicking the door open, it took a moment for her to notice that anything was different. somehow the streamers, candles, and smell of cake didnât give it away, but she quickly strode over to you with the same jump in her step as always.
âheya t-â
and she finally noticed. glancing around at the handmade decorations on her workbench and the balloons, the pink and blue icing on her cakeâŚ
âoh. oh wow.â
she chuckled, in mild disbelief.
âwow, all of this for little olâ me?â
you nodded, body tense with anticipation and anxiety. you knew the second she opened that card, everything would change. she sighed in that playful way she always did, and put her hands on her hips.
âokay. where to start?â
she glanced over the workbench. the cake, card, and small wrapped gift.
âwell, itâs only right to start with the card.â
she sat down, and unceremoniously began tearing the envelope open at the top with her fingernails. not even using the flap in the back. you shouldâve expected as much. she finally gets through to the card and looks at the front- a drawing of the two of you sat side by side.
âoh, this is cute!â
she beamed, and eagerly flipped the card open, and thatâs when you saw blue eyes beginning to scan over the words inside.
âpowder, rather jinx, iâm sorry that this is so sudden. eighteen is a big feat. youâre grown! and iâm proud of everything youâve done. all the progress youâve made for zaun, and all of the things youâve come over. youâre a strong, smart, wonderful girl. but i need you to know that iâve had feelings for you for a while now, and i canât keep ignoring them. meeting you again and getting to know the person youâve become has been one of the best experiences of my life. i wish i could spend those days alongside you as your girlfriend.
if you want to throw this card away and forget about it, i wonât be mad. just think about what i said.
-your best friend.â
her eyes scanned over the paper. again, and again, and again. did she really have to read it so many times? her brows furrowed, then raised, then furrowed again, before she glanced up at you.
âyou⌠mean this?â
you let out a shaky breath.
âof course i mean it, jinx.â
you then felt thin, yet strong arms thrown around you and a head buried into your chest.
âi thought i was crazyâŚâ
she murmurs, voice muffled by the thick fabric of your top. her tone is softer than usual, a side of her youâve grown to realize is reserved for you only.
âcrazy how?â
âcrazy because i feel the same way.â
did the world stop?
was time hanging over your head?
âoh, god- jinx, youâre serious?â
you laughed, returning her embrace with tears pricking at your eyes. she squeezed you even tighter to her, beginning to pepper little kisses all over your face- no doubt leaving stains in their wake.
âah! you still have a gift to open, jinx!â
you were mockingly protesting. in truth, you felt like you were floating.
âdonât care!â
â§.*
shortly after jinxâs own, your nineteenth birthday came and passed with jinx clinging to your arm. a day of being dragged through zaun tagging walls together, your girlfriend presenting you with a barely-edible cake, and rushed kisses on her couch.
which sevika walked in on.
regardless, you woke up to the sound of jinxâs deep breathing, close to your ear. still sleeping, her ear right up against the left side of your chest. youâd noticed she liked listening to your heartbeat, especially during late nights together. the first and only time you asked about it, she just said, âitâs relaxing.â if anything could relax jinx, youâd do it.
you couldnât move, not yet. you could only look down at the sleeping girl on top of you, snoring like an old man. if it were anybody else, youâd have stopped sharing a bed a long time ago. but jinx was kind of⌠endearing.
âmm⌠what time is it, toots?â
you heard her grumble.
âuhâŚâ you moved your wrist from under her to glance at your wristwatch. â11:20.â
âugh⌠itâs too early.â
âtoo early?â
âyes! i need to sleep more⌠five more minutes.â
one of jinxâs classic lies. but you let her, regardless, because who were you to deny a little longer of the girl you loved clinging to you? your free hand came to her lower back, your thumb rubbing gentle circles over soft skin.
âokay. then while youâre here, i need to tell you something.â
âmm⌠go âhead.â
there was no easy way to put this, but you had to spit it out.
"i'm going to topside later. going to jayce's lab with ekko and the professor. they said there was something... important i needed to see. something about hextech."
with this, jinx's eyes fluttered open, looking up at you. thick brows furrowed.
"why?"
"something about hextech."
you repeated yourself. she grumbled.
"why d'you have to be the one to do it?"
your eyes widened for a moment. damn. you weren't sure how to answer this question, exactly. why did it have to be you? clearly, jinx wasn't asked about it if this is the first time she's hearing about it. but you knew it was important enough if you, a relatively ordinary citizen of zaun were asked to accompany heimerdinger and his newest student.
"i... i don't know. but it's important enough. i'll be a few hours tops, okay? a few hours, then i'll come back and be right here when you're ready to sleep. we can be just like-"
you pointed to her head still laying directly over your heart,
"this, again tonight."
jinx grumbled, slowly pulling herself away from your chest, bringing herself to loom over you. unkempt blue braids on either side of your face, rosy eyes locked on yours.
"fine. but you better be back when you say you'll be."
you reached up to place your hands on pale cheeks, tracing your thumbs underneath her eyes, still heavy with sleep.
"i'll be back before you know it, baby. it'll be like i never even left."
â§.*
the lab. the lab.
that's the last place you can remember being before waking up with a gasp. you felt as if you got a punch directly to the stomach, body reeling with the aftershocks of... something. all you could do was heave, pant, use your hands to brace yourself against a... bedside table? desperately trying to find some kind of support.
you slowly gain your composure. your breath coming to you in short gasps, as your eyes finally manage to scan your surroundings. a bedside table, a full-sized bed with blue sheets, a bookshelf with various travel guides and science textbooks scattered about. a corkboard on the wall, with photos of... you? and somebody else.
you stumble over the corkboard, slowly lifting your gaze. photo strips from photo booths hang on the board, as well as post-it notes with scribbled drawings. the pictures are of you, and a girl. a girl who, upon closer inspection, looks almost exactly like jinx. but not quite. her eyes didn't have those bags you'd grown accustomed to, and her face seemed fuller. she had a wide grin or silly expression plastered onto her face in almost every picture. the jinx you knew hated her picture being taken.
this girl's hair also was chopped to her shoulders. jinx kept her hair so long she had learned how to not trip over it. a gentle breeze sweeps the room, and the air is... more clear. not as overwhelming as the usual pollution of zaun. you think you can manage a deep breath in without feeling any side effects.
"there you are, silly!"
you hear from behind you. you snap your head over your shoulder with a gasp, and it's the girl from the pictures. oh, god.
she sets down a box on the bed, a few bolts spilling out from the cushion of the mattress.
"heh, whoops."
she chuckles, placing both hands on her hips. she really does look exactly like jinx. blue hair strung up into messy space buns and a little pink streak. that's new. you glance around at the room once again, noticing the corkboard. a drawing of you and the girl on a yellow post-it, with "POWDER" scribbled beneath it.
powder?
"what... what is this?"
you manage to breathe out. the girl- powder, strides over to you and wraps her arms around your shoulders from behind.
"only materials for my next big project! i told you about this. remember?"
she giggles, voice playing directly next to your ear. a chaste kiss to your cheek and a bubbly girl holding you. you raise an eyebrow, looking back at her. your shoulders tense, eyes blown wide. how could this have happened? didn't powder adopt the identity of jinx after that job?
"this is what happens when you pull a double two days in a row. i know you need the extra time, babe, but you're exhausted."
powder pinches your cheek between her forefinger and thumb. that same playful smile unwavering.
"come on, we've still got a lot to do today. we're talking some stuff over with benzo, remember?"
benzo? the benzo whose corpse you saw?
"i... okay. just give me a minute to freshen up."
you make your way down the hall to a bathroom. this place was set up like a goddamned labyrinth, but you managed. you look at yourself in the mirror.. your clothes seemed nicer. more tailor-fit. your skin was more clear, almost no blemishes or scars. your hair was a bit longer, you still had split ends- guess you could never be bothered to trim those in any world. but... this was different. you huff, deciding to cut your losses and just go to this meeting you apparently had planned.
as soon as you arrive to the last drop, it's like being flashbanged. your eyes widen at how much more bright the place seems. new booths and tables, it seems as if it's been recently renovated for the sake of modernity. and then you noticed vander.
you knew how much vander's loss affected jinx. she talked fondly of him often, but you could tell the fact that he was no longer here was killing jinx, no matter how much time had passed since that day. yet, here he was in the flesh, chatting away with a customer behind the bar as if nothing had happened. had anything happened?
"oh, oh my god. you're here. do you know what happened?"
your body jutted forward and you snapped your head around, your first instinct being to shove whoever was behind you. but you didn't thankfully. ekko.
"you're here too? shit, i don't know, i just- i woke up, and i was here, and everything's different, and everyone is acting different."
you muttered, beginning to pace around. the boy in front of you seemed stunned, shaking his head in disbelief.
"you don't know anything?"
"i'm just as confused as you are, ekko."
"sorry! ran a little late. you know how the streets get this time of day."
you heard from behind you, powder carrying a brown messenger bag.
"...jinx?"
powder just quirked an eyebrow, one of her signature confused expressions. she shakes her head, brushing off the fact and makes her way toward the bar. benzo's sat on one of the stools, waiting.
you shoot a glance in ekko's direction, mouthing 'sorry.'
â§.*
the second the meeting is over, you grab ekko by the arm and pull him into an alleyway behind the last drop. you sigh, letting his arm go, and he's visibly peeved.
"what the hell?!"
"i'm sorry, ekko, i just... this is all so weird. apparently powder never became jinx, and benzo is alive, and so are vander and silco and things just seem so... nice. i keep telling myself it isn't real, but i'm not waking up from whatever the fuck this is."
ekko looks down, his hand pressing into the spot below his eyebrows. he shakes his head.
"i talked to heimerdinger earlier. he said this is some kind of parallel universe. no hextech, so there's not a good chance of us getting back."
you swore you could've felt your stomach drop. oh no.
"how is there no hextech? are you serious?"
"i wouldn't lie about this."
"fuck. fuck."
you're tangling your hands in your hair, once again finding yourself pacing back and forth. the alleyway is clear aside from a few palettes and trash cans, yourself and ekko being the only occupying presence.
"we're trying to figure something out, together. but it's going to take a while."
your feet still, and you take a deep breath in. your lips press into a thin line. you don't exactly have it in you to be patient right now, but did you have another option?
"shit. okay. it's not like i've got any better ideas."
ekko sighs, his shoulders dropping. you glance over to him, and put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing in an effort to reassure him.
"i'll try and think of something, too. just keep me updated, okay?"
ekko gives you a small grin and nods.
"i will. it'll be alright- let's hope, at least."
your eyes wander over to the last drop's back door, and it's cracked open, with powder looking out.
shit. how long has she been there?
you walked to your apartment side-by-side with powder, but she seemed so... tense. she didn't look at you much during the walk back, which made you a bit fearful. she was so chipper just an hour or two ago, what happened?
you swung open the door after taking a few tries to find the correct key, something powder also noticed. thankfully, she didn't mention it, or you'd have a difficult time explaining.
you stepped in, taking off your jacket and dropping it on the arm of a leather couch. one that wasn't peeling.
"so, when did you and ekko get so close again?"
she asks, crossing her arms over her chest. this may not be jinx, but she has the same facial expressions. she thinks you're hiding something.
"huh? we've always been friends."
"you guys fell out two weeks ago and you swore you'd never talk to him again."
oh shit.
"you don't remember? i mean... i guess it makes sense, i thought it was just a misunderstanding. you're usually the one to talk things out."
huh? you and ekko were never particularly close, but you'd never had a falling out. shit, everything really was different here.
"yeah... uh, yeah. we made up."
you say, hoping to whatever was out there that she wouldn't catch onto the fact you didn't have a damn clue what she was talking about.
"huh."
she huffs, clearly unconvinced.
"what, powder? come on, you've gotta talk to me."
"ugh- that doesn't explain why you were touching him like that!"
she snaps, her voice raising, yet not quite yelling. the look in her eyes, she looks as if she's genuinely been betrayed.
"i.. what? i was touching his shoulder, powder."
"yeah, and yesterday you were resting against it. what next, you'll be kissing his neck?"
were you really? god dammit, you had no way of knowing what this other version of you was doing before-
"no! powder, no. i... i'm sorry. but you have to believe me, we're friends. we were discussing something important to us."
she rolls her eyes, tapping her foot against the ground.
"come on. i respect your privacy, i trust you to not cheat, but you've got to ease up on him. rather, he has to ease up on you."
"powder, nothing's happening."
she sighs, her head hanging down in defeat.
"you promise?"
"i promise you."
powder slowly steps closer to you, shaky hands slowly coming to cup both of your cheeks.
"i just don't want anything to happen between us, okay? things are good."
"they are. but nothing will happen."
as... unfamiliar as this is, this version of powder, this supposed life of yours, you couldn't deny that it was welcoming. in some ways, it was a lot better than the world you came from. the overrun streets of zaun, the political unrest of piltover, thousands addicted to shimmer and more friends dead than alive. you could get used to this, but you wouldn't.
you suppose it wouldn't be so bad to indulge yourself until ekko figured something out, though.
"hey. you still like wearing braids in your hair, don't you?"
powder hums, pursing her lips.
"uh... i haven't worn one since i was a kid, but sure."
you sigh, and gently take both of her hands in yours.
"come on. i'll do some twin braids on you, braid pink ribbon into your hair. does that sound alright?"
powder seems to perk up at this, blue eyes going wide.
"ribbons?"
"yeah. you've got that pink streak going on."
"oh... okay. sure. knock yourself out."
she squeezes your hands, smiling.

Powder was in her workshop working on a project with Ekko when you walked in, making her stop working and look back, she smiled when she saw you. You walked past Ekko, giving him a quick hi, and went to your friend. âWorking too hard?â you asked as you wiped a grease stain off her face. Powder felt her skin crawling at your touch near her mouth. âHow about a break? Movies, sleepovers, braids on hair? What do you say, huh?â
Powder just couldn't say no to you, how could she? After all, you were her best friend and the person she secretly loved, all she wanted was to keep you close, if not in a romantic way, then she would still have you as her best friend and could simply look at you, dream about you, touch you even if in a subtle way, a friendly way... That's why she never revealed her feelings, she didn't want to lose you, above all you were her best friend, she needed you as a friend too. âOk, you got me with the braids,â Powder joked. âHow stupid of you,â you said with a laugh. âYouâre the one who said baby.â You always ignored whatever flared up inside you every time she called you pet names because it shouldnât mean anything.
âMovies?â Ekkoâs voice echoed from the other side of the room, you looked at him, âI donât want to miss this, can I go too?â You knew that what he really wanted was a chance for a second date with Powder and maybe she wanted that too, but she was just being proud. In reality, you couldnât know the dissatisfaction she felt inside when you happily agreed to let him go with the two of you.Â

Powder was sitting on your bed watching you as you put on your makeup, Ekko was sitting in an armchair in the corner of your room flipping through a physics book he took from your shelf. You took advantage of the heat to wear a short dress that showed off your thighs and highlighted your curves. Powder tried not to look too much or at least be as discreet as possible, but it was getting harder and harder. You took your cherry lip gloss and applied it to your lips, pressing them together to spread the lip gloss. Powder looked away and took a deep breath. God, how she wanted to taste the cherry on your lips.
âHey Pow Pow, can you tie my dress, please? The straps are loose,â you asked as you sprayed on your perfume. She approached you from behind and pulled the ties of your dress to undo the bow and then retied it again, tightening the ties tighter this time. Her fingers brushing against your skin made your skin shiver, she on the other hand, made a point of touching your soft skin. She always thought about what it would be like to undress you, those thoughts drove her crazy.
âI love the smell of your perfume, itâs so good,â she said finally, resting her hands on your waist and nuzzling your neck to smell you. This was much more intimate than a best friendâs affection, Ekko would have noticed if he hadnât been too focused on your book. Moments like this werenât uncommon between the two of you, it happened sometimes. You ignored the signs because Powder was your best friend and this was just her way of showing affection and if you thought otherwise, it was because you were too needy and you knew it. Powder was nothing more than a caring friend who liked to compliment and touch a little too much.
You smiled and put your hands in hers only to remove them from your waist. "You should wear it once in a while since you like it." You said, moving away from her and grabbing your bag. Powder laughed a little to herself, either you were playing dumb or you were simply a fucking dumbass and didn't understand her advances on you or maybe... maybe you just didn't notice it because you didn't want her like she wanted you and that specific thought always brought her back to reality, that she was an idiot in love with her best friend.
Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ  Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ   Ë ÝđĽ Ý
You arrived at the cinema and bought your tickets and popcorn. Powder as usual, bought a strawberry and cream milkshake. She sat in an armchair between you and Ekko. Of course he wanted the seat next to her. âWhen did this become a date between them and I was the third wheel?â You thought and laughed to yourself. âWhat are you laughing at?â Ekko asked, tilting his head to look at you. âNothing,â you replied, pursing your lips. You looked at Powder and noticed that she was tense. You thought about making an excuse and leaving them alone, but you wanted to watch this movie too much for that.
The movie was about comic book heroes and the three of you shared this passion, so as soon as the movie started you were all very apprehensive and entertained. Or at least that's what you thought. You were the only one entertained by the movie, you only moved your hand to grab the popcorn and bring it to your mouth, your eyes never leaving the big screen. You didn't notice that Powder was looking much more at your legs, now very exposed by the dress that rode up when you sat down, she imagined herself between them. "Damn Powder, focus on the movie", she thought to herself. When she finally pushed her dirty thoughts away and focused on the movie, she felt Ekko's hand on hers and his gaze fixed on her. She understood what he was getting at and immediately pulled her hand away from his and kept her eyes on the movie. He snorted and adjusted in his seat to go back to watching the movie.
After a while, you rested your head on Powder's shoulders and your scent that she loved completely infested her and she had difficulty concentrating on the movie again. She wrapped her arms around your neck and you snuggled even closer to her. This gesture wasn't strange between you and not even to Ekko, he knew you were close and took it as a friendly gesture, just like you. Just like Powder knew it was, but wished it was something more.
You crossed your legs, making your short dress ride up even higher. This didn't go unnoticed by your friend and she tried to look away and focus on the movie, but it was too difficult, especially since your skin was crawling from the cold air conditioning in the movie theater. She thought she could make your skin crawl too. God, how she wanted you... She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She felt her insides aching. Was she really getting horny now?
Powder tried hard to change the focus of her thoughts, but it was very difficult with your breathing close to her neck, she looked at you and you were focused on the movie, she wanted to be able to hold your face and kiss you. What would you do if she did that? âI need to go to the bathroom,â she whispered and you pulled away from her. âThe movie is almost over, are you going to miss the ending?â you asked in a whisper, but she shook her head.
Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ  Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ   Ë ÝđĽ Ý
When Powder reached the bathroom, she entered an empty stall and locked the door by leaning against it. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying not to think about you too much, but it was too difficult and she needed to relieve herself.
She felt dirty every time she did this, but this was stronger than her. She closed the toilet lid and sat on it, she slipped her hand between her pants and panties and began to play with her own throbbing clit. She closed her eyes at the sensation and bit her lip to keep from moaning as she thrust two fingers inside herself. She sped up the pace of her fingers more and more as she thought about you, your smell, your damn short dress, your legs, she touched herself and imagined herself between them, eating you, fucking you with her fingers, just like she was fucking herself. Nothing would make her come stronger than that.
And then she thought about kissing you and tasting the cherry lip gloss on your lips while your pussy squeezed her fingers and that was when she came, cumming hard on her own fingers.
âFuck,â she whispered when she was done, removing her fingers from her pants and wiping them with toilet paper. This wasnât new to her, sheâd touched herself plenty of times while thinking about you. But touching herself in a movie theater bathroom, that was new.
You were at the exit door of the cinema with Ekko waiting for Powder to return, the two of you were talking about the movie when she finally appeared. âWhat took you so long? You missed the end of the movieâ, you said when she stopped next to you. âI donât think milkshakes go with popcornâ, she said massaging her stomach.
Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ  Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË  đ   Ë ÝđĽ ÝË Ë ÝđĽ ÝË   đ   Ë ÝđĽ Ý
After the movie, you guys went to Zaun and stopped at Vander's bar and ordered some not-too-strong drinks. Gert wasn't working the night shift that day, which Powder was grateful for, so she wouldn't have to see her flirting with you again.
However, Powder's joy didn't last long. Your hexphone vibrated on the table and she could read the message that Caitlyn, your ex-girlfriend, sent you,Â
"Hey sweetie, I miss u. I can't wait to see you again â¤ď¸".
Powder never really liked any of the people you dated, but she tolerated them all. But with Cait it was different, she really couldn't stand her and never hid it and for some reason, Cait was the only girlfriend of yours who didn't like your best friend. Maybe she noticed something that the others didn't? You couldn't say, but the hatred between them was mutual and it only got worse when Cait cheated on you with Maddie, she always had a soft spot for younger girls.
You broke up with Cait as soon as you found out about her cheating on you and you were devastated by it. You saw her again two months after the breakup and didn't tell Powder because you knew she would get mad. Not that she was wrong, but you were too needy and afraid of breaking up alone, when in reality you just needed a little self-love.
âY/n,â she practically screamed, âI canât believe youâre dating her after everything she did to you.â
âPow, I didnât get back together with her, I only went out with her once after that and we text each other sometimes, weâre justâŚâ
Powder sniffed and shook her head in disbelief, âUnbelievable,â she said softly before leaving the table, leaving you and Ekko alone. You looked at Ekko and before he could say anything, you went after Powder.
Ekko finally realized something that only you didnât noticeâŚ
should I continue? đđťđđť
merry christmas to all â¤ď¸đ

Why Leona Gave Himself The Bad Ending
Leona Kingscholar Analysis
Usual disclaimer to say that these are just my thoughts and you donât have to feel pressured to agree. This was my thought process as I played through the parts of Chapter 7 Parts 212-226, featuring Leonaâs dream triggered by Malleusâs magic.
--
I wanna start off by saying that I believe all the dreams are a mixture of Malleusâs magic and the dreamers themselves.Â
Idia theorized that Malleus is sort of âsetting up the parametersâ in a way, then each of the dreamers' personalities and imaginations affect the dream in different ways. The emphasis of this has been brought by Idia several times that itâs the strength of imagination that determines how complex dreams are. Which is maybe why in the first years dreams seem so basic? Theyâre young, their magical abilities are still new, and their magic is no match for Malleusâs magic. That and, to be fair, most of the first years donât have the same amount of angst and turmoil as some of the other second years and third years have.
With that being said, I believe that because of his high intelligence, magical prowess, and his hyper-vigilance, that is the main reason Leonaâs dream was soâŚdifferent than the others.
But let's get into it!
There are a lot of Lion King references in this dream, and itâs very clear the writers wanted to play around and show this off. I feel like they did a good job of integrating the themes of the movie into Leona's dream. It does give me a little validation as I feel Leonaâs struggles and personality are closely linked to his great Seven Counterpart, Scar. More so than any of the other overblotters. When I analyze Leona I sometimes I do use Scar as a starting point to understand his intentions.
This is how I came to the conclusion long ago that being king would never make Leona happy because it's not what he truly wants.
We start with the dream back in the Sunset Savanna. Itâs VERY interesting to see that there is hyena prejudice right off the bat as a woman flees from Ruggie while he attempts to buy food.Â
Right off, everyone can tell something isâŚoff about the city. Especially coming fresh from Ruggieâs dream where everything was idyllic and happy for hyenas BECAUSE of Leona.
Grim hits us with the: âI laugh in the face of danger!â line. We even get the three hyenas referenced and the âlove for you to stick around for dinnerâ line. The once proud lioness-dominated palace guard has been taken over by hyena âruffiansâ (interesting choice to portray a disenfranchised group being given jobs as the new guard as a negative thing, but moving on.)
The first interesting thing we get is that the palace is somewhat rundown and empty? The group makes comments of how dark and dreary it is, and how few people are around. Is there an implication that the servants fled at some point after Leona became King or did he replace them? This further shows me that Leona for whatever reason has chosen to isolate himself. To me, it's most likely that he already feels isolated by his country and those in the palace.
From the looks of it âMalleusâs magicâ has given Leona the one thing he has always wanted, but has he? Leona seems less than thrilled and genuinely upset by the fact his whole family is...gone. As I mentioned in my Leona relationships post, I think that he holds a complex relationship with his family, and while he resents them, in no way can I see him wanting them to be dead.Â
Itâs now I started to think that Leonaâs magic was overriding the simple âlet them eat cakeâ logic of all of the happier dreams. This dream feels TOO real, dark, dreary, andâŚsad. Could it be Leonaâs intelligence or cynicism, ruining whatâs supposed to be an idyllic scenario?
Why is even in his WILDEST dreams Leona is still miserable?
Hmm.
A lot of people have talked about Kifaji and their thoughts on his presence. Itâs strange to see people praise him as âa loving parental figureâ as if heâs really there trying to help Leona. But, Kifaji is not there. This Kifaji is a manifestation of Leonaâs mind and Iâll get to why thatâs interesting and what I think he represents. Remember, that often in other dreams weâve seen of loved ones or rivals and they can act normal, out of character, or even cruel. Vil and Neigie come to mind and Neige turned out to be the blot keeping Vil asleep.
Kifaji is a bit different. He actively tries to help the group wake Leona as opposed to encouraging the twisted dream logic. For this reason, to me, Kifaji represents Leonaâs conscious and the Dream!Leona we see represents his shadow self, like the dark side of the moon. AKA, the Leona we meet in Chapter 2. In fact, this whole dream feels like a rehash of Chapter 2.
We get the outdated Leona that dumbs himself down and settles for less, cloaking himself in his pride and believing that everyone is below him. An idle king while he lets others do his dirty work. (Scar basically.)
Leona asks Kifaji to sing (another Lion King reference) and it plays out how you would think. Leona tells Kifaji that he is the only competent person in the kingdom. And he argues that the kingdom is in shambles, not because of his choices as King, but because everyone else sucks basically.
Hmm.Â
Kifaji reminds Leona that while he is clever and his plans are grand, that he can not treat people like human chess pieces. (Can I just say I love when chess is brought up to us because I find that when people analyze Leona or his thoughts they often forget how much he uses chess to process his thoughts. We saw that plenty in the Tamashina Mina event!) I think it helps him sort his thoughts and emotions which he can have a hard time doing.
I think Kifaji represents Leonaâs mindset post Chapter 2 and because Kifaji in his real life is one of the only people who probably stands up to Leona, he has placed him in this antagonist role in his mind. (but not really) Plus, itâs not far off from Kifajiâs actual treatment of Leona in the Tamashina Mina event.
So yeah, Leona acts more like he does in Chapter 2âhe's the player or the king even and everyone else around is just lowly pieces.
Just like the scene from The Lion King, Scar and Leona are not happy. Even though they are supposedly getting their deepest desire, they remain bitter andâŚalone.Â
When I first began to read into Leona it was quite obvious to me that the whole âIâll never be king" thing was just a front for something else. What I think Leona truly craves is approval and acceptance.
Being king, especially of a broken kingdom that despises him, will never make him happy. But, why do the people not love him? This is supposed to be a fantasy right?
There is this interesting layer of how he became king too. Instead of Cheka or Falena simply not existing, like I thought it might be, they are dead. That isâŚso much more tragic than it needed to be. As if deep down Leona believes the only way he can become king (his dreams to come true) is if tragedy happens. This reminds me of his bitter view/the symbolism of his unique magic. That he can only bring misery wherever he goesâeverything he touches turns to sand.Â
I also think that Leona is afraid of failing and much of this dream is his anxieties and insecurities that linger from all his past failures.
Though interestingly enough, I sense that in the dream, as implied later by Idia, Leona has implemented an âover-exaggerationâ of his policies and plans for the kingdom. It was almost like he purposely ran his resources dry and gave up trying to compromise with anyone for the sake of âprogress.â
Why, though?
Itâs very masochistic in a way. Itâs almost like he wanted to prove himself right. Everything he touches will turn to sand eventually and his grand plans will fail even if he claims they are âperfect.â
Thatâs why this dream is probably the most masochistic and self-deprecating we have seen. I think what initially began to draw me to Leonaâs character is because of the hidden pain he holds. He is by far one of the most easygoing, and lackadaisical acting of the cast, butâŚhe cares, he cares so, so much about how he is perceived and his haunted by his hopelessness about his future and the failures of his past.
I think the pain of never feeling good enough, causes his mind to be unable to âplay niceâ with Malleusâs dream magic to even manifest any sort of positive future. One where he holds a position he wants AND is loved and respected. itâs just impossible that he could ever have that, even in his wildest dreams.Â
Heâs too much of a ârealist.â
Side tangent, but a frustrating take is to see was the: âOh yeah, see? He would have sucked as king.â tinged comments after this came out.
I think itâs more complicated than that.Â
This isnât me trying to defend him necessarily, but to be fair, all dreams tend to be over exaggerations by the dreamer. Plus, I think the fact that Ruggie HATES Leona in this dream and is suddenly in favor of Falena, is a sign right there we can not trust Leonaâs interpretation of the people he knows in his dream. He is sort of an unreliable narrator that way.Â
Besides, like in The Lion King, why would all the water dry up, just because the hyenas over-hunted?Â
A big theme in Lion King and even The Lion Guard TV show is "the balance of nature." The blight upon the Pridelands when Scar takes over feels more like symbolism of the âunbalance of natureâ caused by the tragedy of Mufasaâs death. Which makes me again, connect that Leona feels the only way he can succeed is by inflicting misery on others. Like his magic, perhaps a part of him believes he is a curse.Â
I theorized in my Tamashina Mina review, that maybe Leona feels like an outcast himself, and the separation he feels from his country is showcased in how he blames the citizens for the decline of the kingdom, rather than his plans. He feels isolated from them.
By this point, I was having flashbacks to Chapter 2, where he got a whiff of his plan failing and he still pushed through even though he knew it would fail. At first, he may have started doing okay as king, but maybe when he came upon too many obstacles or pushback, He just gave up. Because he was not instantly loved by the people, who probably already feared him, heâd rather not even try. Suddenly, they are ânot worth his timeâ, and he canât help them because they suck.
Leonaâs problem has always been his pride. I think he has to put it aside to genuinely help people reach their potential and learn to collaborate with others more. Part of how this dream plays out, is him realizing that maybe some criticisms Kifaji had about his pride all along may be true. Leona refuses to play nice with others.Â
Thatâs why I think Kifaji represents a more sensible and lucid Leona. He is in a sense, talking to his past self, and trying to shake himself from the dream and his outdated ideals.
Ortho even points out that Ruggie is not really the Ruggie we know but rather a part of Leonaâs imagination. Again, which puts emphasis on how the characters in his dream are more indicative of his mindset as opposed to being âin characterâ. Maybe Ruggie hating him in his dream is his inner anxieties about him and Ruggie post Chapter 2 fallout. He feels like Ruggie could never forgive him for what he did. He let him down. And Leona being bad with people and feelings, doesnât know the proper way to apologize.
Kifaji (woke Leona) says that the state of the kingdom is a result of him âpursuing efficiency over all things and disregarding other people's feelings.â It really feels like he is calling himself out here. Does he REALLY wanna help people? Or is it just Leonaâs selfish pride who wants attention for just being smart?
Dream!Leona complains about the protesters interrupting his nap which is another sign for me of the exaggeration of the scenario of Leona being the king. Like...did he not criticize Falena for having the same carefree and laid-back attitude? And yet here he is...complacent in the same behavior he once criticized Falena of.Â
Interesting.
Ortho mentions that Leonaâs dream is clearly a more complex situation than the other dreams.
I think there is a key implication we are missing here too, that I havenât seen many mention. There is a throwaway line that Jack mentions that Leona has not attended school and is king instead. And he doesn't seem to know Dream!Ruggie either. Nor Ruggie him.
There is no doubt his time at NRC has shaped him to be the Leona we know now. Someone who has at least somewhat benefited with the connections he made at school. It does seem like this Dream!Leona is regressed. And because he never attended school, he is a much colder person who has no regard for others' feelings at all. He is even more socially inept.
I feel like this is a common theme to show us that despite the independent nature of most of the students at NRC, that it can still be âthe friends we made along the way.â trope. These connections do matter and especially to Leona. He mentions this in his post-overblot monologue in the light novel. He found his pack at NRC. This time with his dorm members affected his personality for the better. It's kinda sweet when you think about it!
Ortho mentions Dream!Leona appears DEEPLY absorbed in the delusions of his dream. This means that even though he has the lucid failsafe of Kifaji, Leonaâs self-deprecation, despair, and pain are still overtaking his logic. That's what's crafted this nightmare. (And he later references it as such.)Â
Everyone acknowledges that he canât possibly be happy and looks EVEN MORE miserable than at school. It can't be a silly happy fantasy, but a grim dark reality of what he thinks of himself.Â
That's why he gave himself the bad ending.
I love the double entendre of Idia saying Leona is building his dream like a âsandboxâ game. Lots of Minecraft references. (Leona Minecrafter confirmed? Or hear me outâŚLeona playing King Crusaders or Civilization V FGHJ)
Anyways, Idia or Ortho, (I forget) suggests that perhaps he has run out of âsimulationsâ for his dream playthrough. And being an intelligent person his mind tends to overthink naturally and this caused his dream to have a more realistic tone. Plus, I theorize that because Leona is powerful and his intelligent, his magic and imagination was almost able to overwrite Malleus's, a standard happy dream formula.
Ortho suggests Leona chose a more ârealistic mode âon purpose.â Perhaps like I theorized earlier, it is almost a masochistic test to see if he could have everything he wanted? Leona is a very analytical person who enjoys games. It makes sense, the way he often plays chess alone to practice âstrategies.â But as I mentioned before, I think he just genuinely believes it's not possible. Ortho mentions he thinks Leonaâs the type to understand that an âaggressive urban developmentâ would come with risks.
Jack asks âIf Leona knew this was a bad plan then why would he make the citizens suffer and be hated?â (Sheesh, now we know Leona really is the type to play pretend and get a lil too real with it.)
Ruggie adds that Leona may be âdoing something he knows he shouldn't be on purpose.â Like maybe he did it to be dastardly and maybe he just wanted to âfeel the rushâ of being a ruthless and hated king.
When Azul asks Ruggie if he thinks Leona takes pleasure in immoral things he says that he can't say for sure, only that he is a prince that no doubt can take pleasure in âbad thingsâ.
To me, however, it feels like a masochistic move to prove to himself his happiness is unattainable.Â
Then Sebek chimes in: âHow could he go so far to kill his family only to abandon his responsibilities as a king and become a horrible one?"
No one seems to know for sure. Everyone in the group has their theories but the consensus in the group is that - nobody fuckinâ knows why this guy intricately carved himself such a miserable fantasy for himself. Very masochistic for a guy who appears to be so proud huh?
Idia continues to mention that Leonaâs imagination is so vast compared to everyone else's. It fills out a whole âworldâ completely and the mechanics of this world must make sense. He's playing on hard mode. In Leonaâs brain this seemed to manifest as if he is to âget what he wantsâ it can't be serendipitous or through triumph, IT MUST be through tragedy.
Can we lighten up a little?
Again, he may have started to do âgood workâ but quickly realized that keeping up with all to create a perfect kingdom was waaaay over his head. Maybe he was afraid to give it his all, because he knew everyone would still hate him anyway.
Another reason I think Leona thrives better as a âbig fish in a small pondâ so to speak. Like his dorm leader role where he can interact directly with his cute (this man used this word a lot for some reason) froshes, make tangible make things better for a small group or community.Â
But as we saw, even with his dorm Leona began to feel overwhelmed with the pretty promises he made to his underclassmen in Chapter 2 about the Spelldrive tournament. He likeâŚwants to be wanted but heâs terrified of people actually relying on him, because trying your best and then failing anyways is the most painful thing to him. His instinct when he gets too frustrated with something is to act like he never cared about it in the first place or anyone. AKA âI did everything right and it's THE REST OF YOU who are incompetent.â
Thatâs why I personally think that in the future Leona working within a small community might be a better fit for him, using his skills to see potential in others as a way to connect with them and teach them how to thrive.Â
So yeah, needless to say the group is stumped on analyzing Leonaâs intentions and Azul hilariously notes that Leona is justâŚa complicated person.Â
What an understatement.
The group hatches a silly plan to have Ruggie puppet a Cheka hologram and yeah obviously it didnât work.
This is where it started to get interesting again.
Dream!Kifaji said heâs been âwaiting for the day Leona would wake up from his bad dreamâ and joins the fight against him to wake him. Itâs like Leona telling himself that it's time to let his original dream go.
Ortho is surprised Kifaji is on their side, that he should be the darkness pulling Leona back in, but like I mentioned I think Kifaji is actually a âfail safeâ Leona created to stay lucid or...maybe the little bit of hope he has fostered now that he has grown from Chapters 2âs events.
Since Kifaji is the one to normally call him out, maybe he's Leonaâs way of processing his relationship with him. And that maybeâŚsometimes as annoying as Kifaji is, he has a point. Kifaji is the one who is implied to have raised him after all, so it's no surprise Leona sees him in a father-like role more than his own father.
âNo one understands me, it's not my fault.â Leona laments running away, running away from himself.
Reminds me a lot of Chapter 2 Leona where he began to feel sorry for himself instead of actually trying to fix things. It's clear that no matter how smart and mature Leona isâŚis that he still has a lot of growing to do. And that his relationship with his family and country are complex. There is not a black and white or good and bad with this situation and I feel like this is important when talking about him and his relationships with his family.
He was very much ostracized and probably neglected to some extent by his real parents but at a certain point, Leona decided to give up on improving himself just because he didn't achieve the results he wanted to. It's one of his biggest flaw.
His complacency is what drags him further into the darkness. Not Kifaji.
Sitting and stewing in his despair and how unfair his life has been instead of reaching out. Rehashing all thise chess strategies alone on his chess board until his brain hurts. Making grandiose plans instead of actually working hard toward a realistic goal.Â
The idle king. A king with naught. (Nothing.)
I am now realizing that in a way (because Ruggie and Leona are so similar) Jack is Leonaâs foil; he is the determined and earnest one who admires Leona at his best. He still holds the innocence and the idealism of working hard.
The group jumped through the darkness with Leona and we are replaying the events of Chapter 2 once again.
Ruggie and Jack watch it go down in dismay. Ruggie addresses that he once did think Leonaâs way of thinking/plan was good and itâs cool to see he clearly regrets it now too.
They watch the drama play out as if Leonaâs plan in Chapter 2 actually succeeded and see that he craves more. More ways for Savanaclaw to get ahead by unsavory means.
Jack says even if Leona becomes king there will be no end to his dissatisfaction. BOOM, there it is.
That is why Chapter 2 is so mind boggling. Leonaâs whole speech was about being king and second. But itâs clear now, it's not what he truly wants. I think Leona is afraid to admit what he really wants. Because that takes vulnerability and then comes the possibility of being rejected.
Jack also notes that, despite Leona getting âeverything he wantedâ he seems more grumpier and dissatisfied than usual.
âLeona is not your King, hesâ our Dorm Leader,â Jack growls. They fight and we get a nice callback to Lion King here. âRemember who you are.â
As Leona wakes up from his dreams he straight up says, yeah the scheme from Chapter 2 wasâŚstupid. (Nice.)
Oh and we finally get some acknowledgement that Ruggie feels like Leona abandoned him in Chapter 2 which SHEEEEEEEESH. This is a deep cut for me, considering Ruggieâs real dad abandoned him. And it really confirms the fact he sees Leona as a father/big brother figure.
But, Leona doesn't, he sacrifices himself for Ruggie as the whole group tries to escape the crumbling dream. And while Ruggie cries out for Leona, Leona goes down smirking not knowing what will happen to him.
Itâs time for him to face himself, his blot monster.
Blot!Leona wants them dead, all of them. Cheka, Falena, everyone. The real Leona finds it kind of pathetic. Because, in reality, I don't think Leona hates Cheka or Falena and he doesn't want to be alone anymore.
Leona admits to his blot that yeah, no he canât do the job. He canât be king. And instead of it being a negative itâs more a relief? Maybe he is incompetent too. He is addressing himself and his previous grandiose illusions. He hasnât done anything worthy of being king.
However, he will not give up. Heâs finally living up to Savanaclawâs motto of perseverance (which he sorta laughed off in Chapter 2?)
This next part is what struck me the most because. He just lays it out so simply, finally saying it out loud.
Self awareness!! Like he finally said it!! (And I felt very vindicated in this moment, NGL)Â
What he desires most is the approval of others.
Ah, and Blot!Leona responds with the fact he can't earnestly try, it's too painful to think of failing. Props for Leona acknowledging his flaws! Just like with the other overblotters. But I'm especially floored here because of how PRIDEFUL he is all the time.
In order to have better relationships with people, he has to leave that whole âthey all hated meâ shit behind. Because in reality, there are people who care for him despite his flaws. There are those who look up to him and admire him, for him.
But, the idea of that I think is soâŚcrazy to him that he tends to deny its very existence. Then when he is genuinely complimented on his leadership or whatever skills he brushes it off.
He calls himself disgusting which feels kinda sad but itâs proof he has moved on from his previous way of things. What did I say earlier? Leona is afraid of failure.Â
Giving being a king a earnest optimistic go is too painful for him because ultimately he is afraid of failing. Like he was happier to play the role of tyrannical king than to bother to build relations with the citizens of his kingdom.
As his blot self withers away itâs almostâŚsad compared to the previous blot monster showdowns weâve seen. It mentions something about âhis friendsâ (A reference to Scarâs final words.) like heâs reaching out for Leona so it's not alone anymore. And Leona almost embraces his monster? Itâs clear he feels pity for this thingâŚhim. His pain, his depression, his loneliness. Maybe a step in the way of self-love? He acknowledges (almost as to soothe it) that it will always be with him, clawing from inside. Except now, he wonât give up.
He vows that he will get what he wants one day, for both of them. Heâll have his âown throne and prideâ instead of wanting for someone elseâs. Heâll find his place to belong through his own merit.
It reminds me of that expression âfind your own tribeâ which is an expression that those who are not close to heirt families understand all too well. He wants to find satisfaction outside his desire to rule and maybe because we know he prefers NRC to home, this confirms his fondness for his dorm life. (Savanaclaw found a family dorm.)
When he returns to his original dream of being king Kifaji is there as they look on at Pride Rock. The fact that it is raining is telling that hope has returned. (Just like at the end of Lion King) and that by accepting that âbeing kingâ is not what he really wants now âall things are balanced againâ.
They have a nice moment here. Leona acknowledging that he has been given the tools to do good things by Kifajiâs training is a big mature moment for him. (Especially how they acted toward one another in the Tamashina Mina event)Â And Kifaji praising him, since this a dream, could be a testament to what he wishes would happen between them.
AKA Leona finally feels more, âat peaceâ with himself.
As Leona destroys this false kingdom with his sand he seems reserved, itâs almost bittersweet as it all settles over him, his new found aspirations, letting the old ones go. He's letting the past go. A big theme in Lion King. (I really feel the writers must be fans of the movies.)Â
Kifaji says: âGo to the place you really belong.â
This line kinda got me. Because the implication is that Night Raven College and his dorm is where he really belongs. Leona is confirming that his experiences at NRC have shaped who he is SO MUCH.Â
For years he accepted his life as it was, a cage, and now he is acknowledging that he has the power to break that cage and do whatever he wants. Itâs a great callback to the advice he gave Jamil in Chapter 6.
This is quite refreshing as he mentioned before that it was too âlate for himâ. Now, he realizes it isnât.
Back with the gang, Ruggie admits his fear that Leona will abandon him again. Leona denies it, and says somewhat casually that he is in fact a true friend of his. This feels like a clever inversion of the line that Scar says to the hyenas about being his âfriends.âÂ
But, we know now that Leona does mean it now. And this shows Leonaâs desire to finally stray from the âpathâ of his Great Seven counterpart and actually likeâŚhave friends?
The reunion of the Savanaclaw trio is actually really sweet. For a dorm full of cocky jocks with strong personalities they seem to be so genuinely happy to be reunited.
Jack bursting out into tears and crying got me tearing up. Like Ruggie and Leona clearly are bit more reserved in their emotions but we see Savanaclaw really are close, despite their disagreements. They care for one another as a dysfunctional little family.Â
As a dorm that doesn't get much mainstream attention compared to others it was so nice to have this little moment. It's hard to tell, but Iâm 99% sure there was a group hug based on how the sprites moved and the sound effects. At least a nice back pat from Leona. (Thanks, dad.)Â
All in all, I really...enjoyed his dream section. As someone who is pretty hyper-critical, for the most part, it satisfied most of the things I wanted to feel. I even got emotional at a few points! Yes, it would have been nicer to spend more time with âkingâ Leona and dive into it more. Or get more lore about his family. But, he admitted it FINALLY, everything I have clocked about him all those years ago. Itâs very satisfying to see his growth in a tangible straightforward way, instead of just me reading between the lines.
I hope we will continue to see even more growth with his character (Like we did in the Halloween event)Â and Iâm excited to see the role he will play in the rest of Chapter 7, even if itâs just him being a cranky old man. (What do you expect he was raised by one?)
I'd like to end this with some positivity. As someone who deep dives into character stuff a lot I know it's really comforting to see part of yourself reflected back in your favorite characters.
To anyone reading who feels they have things in common with Leona or his despair, the truth is that you should keep going, even if it's just to spite the world itself.
Your vision and presence in this world are valid all on their own and that failing is not indicative of your value as a person. It never will be.
Keep fighting to find your place, your pack and never forget who you are.đ

I have someone who comes to groom my dog because I physically can't keep up with it. He's extremely good at his job.
He also thinks Trump isn't all that bad a guy, the Democrats are the anti-human rights party, had no idea the Supreme Court was a thing/is controlled by Republicans and that's why so many human rights are being rolled back in America, refuses to actually use his privilege of having a preferential voting system to not have to vote for the two major shitty parties because he insists on believing nothing good has been done despite numerous proving points to the contrary in his own life let alone others' lives, thinks climate change is a hoax and can't wrap his head around why university studies need to be checked for a donor list and a fossil fuel company supported 'study' isn't reliable actually, hasn't even learned the most basic empathy concept of "you not suffering from a problem other people suffer from doesn't make that problem less important/you should care about people whose lives you don't experience", outright said with his full chest that maybe we should racially segregate the Olympics again actually, and a number of other toxic to downright rancid things I would have just written him off and slammed the door in his face for last year let alone a few years ago.
Don't get me wrong. Talking to him is fucking EXHAUSTING and I feel physically disgusting afterward having to just calmly listen to all these things he spouts which have historically resulted in entire groups of people being targeted for genocide and numerous other human rights abuses when left unchecked and allowed to fester at the societal level.
BUT HE LISTENS WHEN I CHALLENGE HIM.
I can see him actually seeing me as a human being worth listening to. He's older than me and definitely been down way too many right-wing rabbit holes for me to pull him onto the surface any time soon. But I'm giving him things to chew on and hopefully if we're lucky I've planted some seeds which will eventually grow into some semi decent human being plants one day. He's really ignorant and clearly under-educated and that itself isn't his fault and biting his head off isn't remotely going to make up for that gap and is only going to drive him further into the arms of whatever fucked up extremist conservative groups he's been listening to.
He is reachable. He's just also a very long project I only get to work on for an hour at a time every 6 weeks.
And some of the things I've said which I think were part of what got through to him involved showing empathy for him being a single father(? I may have mixed that up with someone else but I think he is) with a disabled kid. He shows empathy for disabled people because he's the father of one (and probably is neurodivergent himself I believe but unsupported and doing his best to give his son the support he didn't get from the sounds of it).
But yeah.
Listen: you don't have to take shit to the face if the person is solely malicious and trying to hurt you. No one is obligated to meet that with kindness and anyone saying otherwise can get fucked. There is a limit to how much bullshit someone can cop while the bullshitter acts like any emotional response to their bullshit is unreasonable/out of nowhere and that is valid on the part of the person copping the crap.
However, if you a) can handle coping long enough to break down those walls with unexpected kindness/it isn't dangerous for you to try that method (VERY IMPORTANT. PAY ATTENTION TO THOSE DETAILS. DON'T TRY THAT ON SOMEONE WHO IS ACTIVELY THREATENING/DANGEROUS TO YOU), or b) can tell it's soft bigotry/general ignorance driving the otherwise yuck things being said, do give the compassion and patient education route a try.
I've had numerous instances of me holding shitty ignorant beliefs I had no idea were actually harmful. The people biting my head off didn't get to me. The people who took the time to see I was just ignorant and under-educated on the matter (and hadn't yet developed the empathy for a group I didn't belong to) taking me aside and patiently dealing with my idiocy long enough to explain things to me in a way that got through my skull (and eventually into my heart as well) were the ones who fundamentally improved me as a person. I still have plenty of things I always have to work on. But I can tell you now I would be much MUCH worse without those patient, kind, educational interventions by people who could tell the difference between malice and ignorance.
The same applies to everyone else.
Human beings are human beings. All of us. Re-humanising each other is the last thing any of the politicians and extremist groups want us to do BECAUSE IT WORKS. IT BREAKS THE WARPED MODEL OF THE WORLD THEY PORTRAY AS REALITY TO DIVIDE US AND KEEP US ALL AT EACH OTHER'S THROATS INSTEAD OF CUTTING OFF THE FOOD SOURCE FOR THEIR WEEDS AT THE ROOT.
When we remind a hurting person that we are a person too, not the bogeyman the extremist groups paint us as, it shakes their warped worldview to the core. It makes them think. It makes them QUESTION. It makes them look at the flower the 'evil' Pride-pin wearer gave them because no one gave them flowers when their mother died and their hate begins to crack at the seams.
The things the world teaches men hurts men too. Teaching them they DON'T have to subscribe to that mentality all the way down to the roots of the patriarchy weed is the best and most effective way of cutting that mentality off at the source. Even if you struggle to empathise with men because you've been hurt; ok, valid. But it is demonstrably more effective, sustainable and long term changing to just get rid of all of it by addressing their pain and showing them how much healthier and happier they can be just in their own life let alone others' lives by casting off the system that hurts them too.
I'm pretty sure I'm just rehashing the same points here, sorry, but the concept of deradicalisation as a healing and long term change tool has been my social justice special interest this year so talking it out helps it solidify in my own head too. (And gives me strength to deal with bullshit because it reminds me it's worth copping what I can personally handle in order to get someone to think, change and grow, one exhausting person at a time).
part of the reason i love how bell hooks talks about masculinity is that she shows real compassion towards men suffering from the effects of toxic masculinity. she was conscious of how we need to unlearn the ways we talk about men + masculinity just as much as we need to unlearn the same for women + femininity. so many times ill see someone talking about toxic masculinity like (hyperbolizing here but only slightly) âthese FUCKING STUPID BABY BITCHES wonât MAN UP and go to a therapist!!!â and like. i get the anger. but you see feminists recreating patriarchal manhood by only promoting good behaviors through patriarchal frameworks. any use of the term âreal menâ is bad because it reifies the idea that manhood is a special title you must earn, and it is something possible to fail and fake. & as important as it is to promote sexual equality + the pleasure of non-cis-men, lots of people are essentially still working with the idea that men need sexual prowess to have worth but just shifting it slightly so there is more emphasis on womenâs pleasure. but I want cis men to think about their partnersâ pleasure because they care about their partners, not because they need to check a box in order to keep their man card. and donât get me started on small dick jokesâ and the absolutely pitiful excuse people will use that âwell, I donât believe it, but misogynistic men get upset when I say it, so itâs okay!â
basically bell hooks is so fucking right. in order to create loving men we need to love men, simply for being alive, whether or not they are performing. as much as we need to actively unlearn misogyny (and we do), itâs equally vital we unlearn patriarchal ways of seeing manhood. we canât just assume that taking a feminist perspective automatically means there is no work to be done there.

Ngl I really enjoyed Viaâs arc in Sinsmas. She is just SO MUCH like her father that it both delights and hurts me lol.
Their relationship is an interesting take on struggling to try to break the cycle of abuse/neglect.
Stolas grew up with his father not even knowing his name or showing him a shred of affection. He was a means to an end, a tool. The only way heâs ever received any kind of acknowledgement from his father is by doing his duty. Mastering his powers, entering into an arranged marriage, and producing an heir.
You can just so clearly see how he is trying SO HARD to give Via a different life. He wants them to be a family. For her to never doubt her parents love her. To be the father he never had.
To the point he shoves his own wants and needs so far down that he is barely holding on.
Via going from accusing him of not loving her to realizing that he loves her so much that he forced himself to play the role of a good father and husband. To the point he destroyed himself for herâŚ
And that realization just devastates her.
Stolas getting involved with Blitz was the culmination of decades of forcing himself to be the person everyone else expected him to be. He feels he canât be loved, but he can be useful. And maybe if heâs useful enough, people will care about him.
The reason his connection with Blitz is so strong is because both of them feel that way. The difference is that Blitz was able to create his own found family (tho it took him ages to realize it lol) while Stolas has always been alone. Theyâre two sides of the same coin. And while Blitz has spent the past few years healing, Stolas has been descending further into darkness because he doesnât have that same support.
Via has absorbed so many of his insecurities. Especially the fear of not being loved or wanted despite Stolas trying SO HARD to be the perfect father to her. But heâs not. He can never be because he forgot the old adage of âput your oxygen mask on first before helping anyone else.â
I think that definitely can come across as him being neglectful of her. But to me it speaks to his desperation to be such a good father to her that he tries to hold himself to IMPOSSIBLE standards.
He doesnât fail Via because he doesnât care. He fails her because he keeps setting up these unrealistic expectations for their relationship. He massively overextends himself and puts his own wants and desires on the back burner so often that his life is imploding around him out of his control.
He doesnât miss the stars with her because he doesnât care. He misses them because heâs struggling to put his life back together after finally taking some initiative for himself. Heâs trying to deal with the fallout of wanting a divorce from Stella, but heâs waited so long and heâs so overwhelmed by it all that the date slips his mind. And the instant he realizes whatâs happened, he drops everything and goes looking for her.
Via keeps watching him make these promises he struggles with or fails to keep and doesnât realize until she finds all of the happy pills how much heâs overextended himself for her sake. And because sheâs her fatherâs daughter, she immediately thinks sheâs at fault. She thinks he would be happier if he hadnât forced himself to play house all these years for her sake.
Sheâs not wrong. If heâd separated from Stella years before, theyâd probably all be better off. But he didnât because of his sense of duty. Stolasâs problem is that he never advocates for himself until he reaches his literal breaking point. By then, the damage is more of a tsunami than a ripple because now his meticulously crafted house of cards is falling down around him faster than he can pick up the pieces.
Via is right that he would have been happier, but not for the reasons she thinks. He did it because he loved her, not out of obligation for her. And also because he is deeply broken and flawed.
Viaâs dealing with a lot of complicated emotions too. Her father was willing to sacrifice himself for his affair partner, which she initially believes means heâs picking Blitz over her. But really itâs just Stolas trying to save the only other person in his life who understands him and who maybe cares about him.
How could he live with himself if he let Blitz die?
And itâs not like Stolas has time to sit down and think of a rational plan. He rushes to the trial because Blitz is literally about to be decapitated. And then he saves him the only way he knows how. I think part of him was also convinced that, as much as he loves Via, she might actually be better off without him because he is a wreck. Heâs convinced heâs ruined his life and the lives of everyone around him.
I think this is why he doesnât fight Stella much for custody of Via. Not because he doesnât care, but because he genuinely thinks Stella is a more stable parent than he is and that Via will be better off with her as a result. The man also lacks a backbone too tho because his self worth is -9000.
But then Stolas doesnât get executed. And the consequences of his actions hit him like a ton of bricks once the adrenaline and panic wears off. He saved Blitz, but at what cost? And, based on his statement in Sinsmas, it sounds like he wouldâve done it all over again if given the chance. Because heâs the one who let Blitz use his grimoire even though he knew it was wrong. Because Blitz was in danger of dying because of him. And because he has a very strong sense of morality and justice too.
Dying in Blitzoâs place was a spur of the moment decision and once the dust cleared, Stolas realized how everything heâs tried to do to keep his shit together has fallen apart at the seams and now everyone knows it.
All Via can see when she looks at him now is that heâs hit rock bottom because of her. Again, not true. But Stolas has tried so hard to give her this idyllic family life, thinking that was the best thing he could do for her. Not realizing that she could see the cracks forming. She just didnât understand why there were cracks until now.
I donât think Via actually hates him. I think she hates herself. Convinced sheâs the reason heâs hit rock bottom. Why couldnât she see how much he was suffering? Why would he suffer so much for her? So sheâs taking herself out of the equation, just like he tried to with Blitz. If sheâs not in his life anymore, maybe heâll stop killing himself to try to make her happy. Maybe heâll stop being so miserable.
I think a big part of their arc together has been her going from thinking of Stolas as this perfect and larger than life figure to seeing him start to crumble and now getting a peek behind the curtain and realizing how much of that wasnât real. And it scares and upsets her that her dad isnât the perfect person heâs tried to be for her. Heâs broken and hurting and she doesnât know what to do to help because heâs spent her whole life focusing on her.
Not to say that heâs done that well. He genuinely hasnât. Heâs overcorrected so hard that heâs fucked her up in a completely different way because heâs overextended himself. He pushed himself until the illusion of a perfect happy family cracked along with him. Heâs also made it difficult for her to know how to help him because heâs sheltered her so much.
I think this sometimes makes Stolas come across as selfish. He seemingly âruinedâ his marriage and his relationship with his daughter for Blitz. But really it was just the pendulum swinging wildly in the opposite direction. He was so starved for happiness and connection that now heâs trying to live two separate lives and itâs just not possible and heâs falling apart even faster.
Stolas was so desperate for affection and to be of use that he lets Blitz have his grimoire, under the impression Blitz is attracted to him because Blitz literally tried to seduce him to get it. He also does all of the dirty talk because he thinks Blitz likes it.
I think he initially sets the terms for the grimoire usage because he thinks itâs a price Blitz is more than willing to pay because he showed up trying to seduce him. I think he l also just really wants an excuse to see/spend time with Blitz too. It doesnât even cross his mind that Blitz might want anything other than sex from him. Heâs once again playing a role based on what he thinks is expected of him.
Itâs not until Stolas discovers heâs starting to develop feelings for Blitz that he realizes their arrangement is wrong. And the moment he realizes it, he immediately tries to make amends. He hopes Blitz will admit he has feelings for him too, but is willing to step away if not. But he also cares about him so much, he makes sure to give him the Asmodean Crystal so he can freely make the choice.
Meanwhile he has no idea Blitz will just view this as another person trying to abandon him or look down on him. Because Blitz struggles with self worth too and believes the only way people will care about him is if he can be useful. Blitz has a deep seated fear of abandonment while Stolas fears no one could ever love him just for himself. He offers Blitz the crystal to let him know his feelings are genuine and to gauge Blitzâs too.
All of this is to say that I think Via and Stolas will reconcile, hopefully sooner rather than later. I think Via needs some time to process who her father actually is vs who she thought he was. And both of them need to be able to forgive themselves/grant themselves some grace so they can finally meet each other in the middle like Stolas has finally managed with Blitz. Stolas needs to accept Via is grown up now and he canât shield her from the negatives of the world forever. Meanwhile Via needs to understand everything doesnât have to be so black and white.

Winter Wonderland || F1/F2
type :: fluff
tw/cw :: none
contains :: carlos, charles, lando, oscar, max, ollie, paul, pepe
summary :: decorating your home together for the holiday season with the drivers
xmas celly here! || f1 masterlist || f2 masterlist
Carlos Sainz | 55
Very vintage, and rich looking
It's a true money style of richness, with a big ass tree filled with presents underneath it
There's even ribbons on all the gifts
Why? Because his mom and other family members are so rich and retired that they're fucking bored and added it
Most likely you live with him and he just reuses the same ornaments and stuff from last year
But you don't care, it's so pretty
But!!!! You two get a little custom ornament that's really cute
Probably your anniversary date or smth on it
Charles Leclerc | 16
A nice rich Christmas too, but more sleek and modern-ish
He loved decorating as a kid with his siblings but now that he has his own tree??? Man that's so much work
He'll let you take care of the tree and most of the decor, but he doesn't just sit on his ass
He'll help pick the items, theme, etc
And also help put up the heavy duty stuff, like lights around the house and stuff
But putting each and every flower into the reefs??? Oh noooo he's suddenly so soreeee nooooo
After like 10 ornaments, he's suddenly complaining and saying "my physical therapist told me it's bad to do repetitive motions"
He's a liar but you don't even care, cause he bought everything for you
And he'll give you constant praise in person and online for your decorating skills
Lando Norris | 04
Frat boy party vibes but honestly,,, I fuck with it
Tons of colors, lights, and it's so fun to look at
Loves decorating with you and making it very chaotic
And also very ghetto...
This man doesn't even use staples or tape to hold up the lights on the wall
Why? Because he couldn't find any and didn't wanna go out to get them
So now your lights are being held up by wood glue... or your eyelash glue that he stole... or any random sticky substance...
No he doesn't use old condoms, don't think that
Oscar Piastri | 81
He don't gaf
However YOU want to decorate, he obeys
Whether that's an all pink tree, ugly ahh skinny tree that holds one ornament, or the biggest more extravagant Christmas ever
If his beautiful partner tells him to stfu he stfu, like a good boyfriend
And even better???
He not only pays for any decoration you want, no matter how expensive or stupid it is (he just loves seeing you happy)
But he also helps put up and cleans EVERYTHING
He's up on the roof decorating, cleaning the fireplace just to make it pretty, and even re-arranging the entire living room just for you to have the perfect spot for the tree
Some call him whipped
I call him a real man
Max Verstappen | 01
He also don't gaf
But, not in the Oscar way
He fr doesn't gaf at all
Expect an ugly ass tree, or most likely not even a tree
If you're lucky, you'll get the strip of reef in the pic above
But there's a very high chance that you'll just get a printed photo of a Christmas tree that's hung on the wall
BUT he does love stupid Christmas decor
So things like a funny statue, a creepy elf on the shelf, etc are all very welcomed
Luckily, Max isn't an asshole and will 10000% celebrate however you like at all
He's just gonna follow your lead and do whatever is needed from it... With minimal effort firstly...
Oliver Bearman | 87
Like Max, but really cute and funny
He has the Christmas spirit and loves it very much
One thing he did that's very very cute is that he ordered those big inflatable
But he didn't check the size...
So now you have a 35feet tall Satan in your yard!!! Yay!!!
He's in the Christmas spirit and he got the right idea
Maybe he doesn't have the skill to decorate it,,, but he has the spirit!
Paul Aron | 17
A classy and modern Christmas
Most likely white and a bit of a snow theme going on
Mixed with black too, cause that's his aesthetic ya know
He's very active when it comes to decorating
Always helping you pick what to get, which matches each other, etc
He's also very worried about the measurements, so he always makes sure to take note of the space you have to make sure everything fits
Also helps you put everything up, it's so sweet and domestic
Like: he holds your waist while you stand on the ladder to put the star up
Pepe Marti | 21
I'm mad at him rn cause why is every photo of him so bad
But he's so painfully unaware of the fact that he's tall
The tree only has ornament son the top
All the lights and decorations are put where you can't even see
And he keeps assigning you tasks that you cannot reach
Which he learns to take note of, always laughing at you before saying sorry
The decoration is very warm and homey
Definitely the type to bring over his friends to have dinner all together
His home isn't crazy decorated, but still nice and cozy
Which perfectly matches your relationship's vibes

The Lottery III
Read The Lottery here | ~4k words
From me: takes place during her second year in town. It's Christmas time đ
Warnings: fluffy
Summary: It's truly embarrassing how smitten Harry is with her.
âPlease, please, please!â
âNo,â his voice was solid, flat, devoid of emotion. Impervious to her pleading it seemed.
She frowned and looked at him with a look that Harry assumed was supposed to be menacing. But it looked about as menacing as a baby bunny could be. âHarry Styles, people will think youâre The Grinch.â
âThey already think that, Peach,â he rolled his eyes and moved to the next table check that the ketchup wasnât completely depleted.
âThen Iâll think youâre The Grinch.â
That seemed to do something to his brain because he paused running around the diner. He looked at her with the same irritation that he always directed at her. The kind that made him annoyed because she wanted two different pancakes. Or that she didnât wear the proper coat in the snow. Or that her tires needed to be replaced on her car, but she didnât mind (refused to replace them) because she wasnât driving very far these days and really, it wasnât that big of a deal because it probably wasnât going to snow in the remainder of that March.
Harry shook his head, remembering he was supposed to answer her. âPeach,â he sighed and rubbed his face. âIâll look ridiculous.â There was no one else in the diner. It was nearly five in the morning. Much too early to have this conversation and even earlier to be having an argument.
But Harry thought she looked so cute. Cold but bright-eyed. âWell, thatâs why I came now to ask. No one will know itâs you. Weâll park your car at my house, and youâll tell everyone you have an appointment in the city. Youâll look unrecognizable.â
He stared at her for another moment before he turned to the coffee pot that he was brewing to make it cold for her. She was hours too early so it wouldnât be cold. Her last pitcher was used up yesterday. Which only made him grumpier that he didnât have what she liked. On top of being asked to do her ridiculous task. The silence was deafening. She smiled sweetly at him. âIâll order regular pancakes for a week,â she offered.
He rolled his eyes. Maybe because he knew that he would still make her stupid pancakes and two omelets if she asked. âIf anyone finds out sâme, Iâll tell them yâdrugged me, Peach.â
âThatâs very reasonable. While Iâm asking for things, is it possible, I could borrow your oven for cookies and your coffee burners for hot chocolate?â She batted those pretty eyelashes at him, and he wondered just how obvious it was to her that he would do anything she asked of him.
âYâknow... I donât do the whole town celebration thing,â he reminded her turning back to the coffee pot because if he looked at her any longer, he was going to tell her everything and this was not the time nor the place. She also wasnât someone he wanted to know all his dark secrets. She was the one person that didnât look at him with pity and he wanted that to remain true for as long as he could manage.
She frowned. âWell, I do,â which made next to no sense because at the time of asking she had only lived through one town Christmasâkind of. She wasnât part of the traditions at all but somehow inserted herself into helping as much as she could. âNo one will know itâs you,â she reminded him. âAnd I know you want to help,â she shrugged casually. âCan our pancake deal start tomorrow Iâm desperate for peaches and white chocolate chips,â she dropped into her seat.
He didnât answer, but he assumed she knew he was putty in her hands. âCoffeeâs not cold yet,â he grumbled pouring her a hot cup.
âThatâs okay, you donât have to make me cold coffee anyway,â she shrugged and reached over the counter for the sugar and cream only for Harry to smack it away as was their own little tradition. âOh!â She squealed and hopped out of her seat rushing out the front door as if she saw a ghost.
Harry blinked and hurried after her in case there was some kind of issue or if she saw something troublesome that would get her killed or kidnapped. Not that anything of the sort ever happened in their little town. But leave it to her to find something dangerous. âWhatââ
Her head was tilted nearly at a sharp forty-five-degree angle looking at the moon, dipping lower in the sky. Some of the stars were still out, and the sky was just starting to turn the slightest light blue. âIsnât she pretty?â She sighed dreamily. Harry felt a warmth spread through his chest. The same kind that did any time she had him look at the moon. The awe, the fascination, the unadulterated innocence on her face made his heart skip a beat.
âYeah, Peach, sâlovely,â he agreed and waited twenty seconds to let her stare. âSâcold out,â he reminded her because she of course didnât put her coat back on for this expedition. Gently, he placed his hand on her lower back. âCâmon,â he encouraged. âI gotta make yâsome pancakes.â
Harry swore she continued looking over her shoulder as he ushered her inside which just made him fall a little harder for her.
*
The day of the townâs Christmas festival Harry did what she said. He talked about his appointment in the city (that he didnât have) all morning. When nearly everyone he ever knew was in town, he drove his car to her house where no one would notice it was there. He dressed in a red suit, and she drove him over in her own car dressed in an elf ensemble. Had Harry known she had a part to play he may have agreed a little faster. She was adorable, the shoes curled into a swirl at the toes, she was decked in red and green from head to toe and sure Santa was a symbol of Christmas but she was the near embodiment of it as well.
The second she stepped out of the car after all the little ones shouted excitedly for Santa, she pulled up the rear carrying a bag of candy canes over her shoulder.
âMiss Peach! Youâre an elf too!?â Someone called when they realized the bookstore owner was in tow with Santa himself.
âYou know Santa?!â
She giggled as Harry threw his voice and laughed at the little ones in awe over the pretty girl. They were right to be in awe. She was lovely. Making this happen. Picking someone certifiably Grinch-like. Yet he did it anyway.
âSantaâs sleigh is being fixed a couple towns over, so I picked him up and he was so grateful he agreed to come say hi to everyone! One of the elves gave me a costume to borrow for the day,â she explained. âSanta is going to see if he can get everything you all want, if youâve been good.â
So, Harry took his seat on a chair that was much too poofy and frilly. It was set among a huge sack of mini presents, a mailbox for letters, and she dumped her bag of candy canes into a bucket. There were cookies and hot chocolate at the table beside the setup, run by her employees, curtesy of Harryâs oven and coffee maker. She stood beside Harry the whole afternoon as so many little ones came to tell Santa what they wanted.
What was worse was it was fun. Harry actually enjoyed being Santa. The little ones were so funny, and she was adorable dressed in her little get up. âMiss Peach,â one little boy whispered toward the end of their little event. He waved her over several yards away from Santaâs chair.
Naturally, she hurried over, leaving Harry with a pair of nine-year-old girls who wanted a lot of makeup and dolls. She greeted his parents who smiled knowingly at the cute bookstore owner with a little baby in a stroller beside the boy who waved her over.
âIs that the real Santa?â He asked gulping.
She smiled. âI got him off the sleigh and everything.â
He looked down nervously. She knew him from her story hours and going to the bookstore to do crafts related to the book of the week. âIâm kind of scared of Santa, Miss Peach,â he whispered.
âOh,â she pouted. âThereâs nothing to be scared of,â she whispered. âHeâs very nice and just wants to know what you want for Christmas.â
âWill you go with me?â He asked.
She nodded and held his hand. âHey Santa, Caden here is a little nervous,â she told Harry. Behind the hat, wig, glasses, a white beard and a firm pillow tucked into his shirt, it was next to impossible to know it was Harry.
How anyone couldnât tell those pretty green eyes belonged to someone other than Harry was ridiculous to her, but whatever. She was eternally grateful he was doing this for her. Honestly, she couldnât fathom why he would do it for her, but she wasnât going to question it long enough for him to back out.
There was a kind smile beneath the white beard and mustache. One that she had only seen a handful of times. When it appeared on his face in the diner it was nearly always hidden from viewâbut every once in a while, she would see his pink lips turn up in a genuine smile. Happy over a joke someone made. Or how a little one told Miss Peach they had a crush on her.
She wondered if Caden knew how lucky they were to witness such a soft, beautiful sight. âSâthat so?â He chuckled.
Caden tucked himself behind her leg and she bent to scoop the six-year-old into her arms. âSanta is a good friend of mine, he just wants to make sure you get what you want,â she assured him. âDo you want me to tell him?â She asked stepping closer toward Harry. He hid his face against her shoulder. Gently, she stroked the back of his head. âI used to be scared of Santa too,â she whispered. âBut weâre friends now, right Santa?â She asked glancing over. Harry nodded, waiting patiently. Letting her do her thing. âHere,â she walked to Harry, wedged herself between Harryâs legs and perched on his thigh, stretching her own legs out so she wasnât putting her full weight on his body. She sat Caden on her lap facing her and Harry.
Poor Caden looked like he was about to have a breakdown.
Harry knew what Caden was feeling almost at the exact same time. Other than a touch on her back or smacking her hand away, Harry hardly ever touched her. Now, her whole pretty butt was on his thigh. Had he known this would have happened, he wouldnât have argued with her at all. She was so casual about it, as if she sat herself in his lap all the time. How was this not a moment in time that caused for absolute shock for her? Was he breathing? It felt like he couldnât breathe.
âHey,â she smiled sweetly, encouragingly. âIâm right here, tell us about what you want Santa to bring,â she ran a hand across his cheek. âDo you want... a Lego set?â She asked. He glanced up shyly at Santa and nodded. Harry smiled behind his beard reassuringly. âAnd a skateboard?â She continued guessing what a little boy his age would want. He nodded again. âAnd... a unicorn stuffie?â She smirked.
He frowned and shook his head. Which made the two of them laugh. âMy sister likes unicorns, not me,â he told them. Harry nodded.
âSo, a skateboard for you and a unicorn forââ Without missing a beat, Harry watched her mouth the name of the younger sibling. âLily.â
âYou know Lily?â He asked, pure wonder in his eyes. Staring up at Harry like he was the most amazing person in the world. Harry did think he was the Grinch because his heart truly melted and it was all thanks to the pretty, peachie girl.
âSanta knows everything,â she whispered. âCan you say thank you?â
âThank you... Santa?â Caden asked, hopping down from her lap and turning bravely toward him. She stepped away from his legs which made him feel cold and grumpy again. But he remembered to stay focused on Caden.
âYes, lad?â Caden ushered him closer waving his hand toward him. Harry leaned down further so Caden could whisper in his ear.
âCan you help me get a present for Miss Peach?â
Harry looked at her as she gathered a candy cane, a cookie, a present, and a cup of hot chocolate for Caden to take. âAbsolutely.â
*
When Santa left, Harry magically returned with his car and headed to the diner to check on things. âYou missed all the fun Harry,â she sighed stepping behind the counter and heading for the coffee pots filled with hot water for her hot chocolate stand. âI brought Santa in and everything.â
He narrowed his eyes at her and stuck his arm out to stop her. âDid he tell you he was bring yâcoal?â he rolled his eyes and turned her physically by her shoulders before she reached the coffee pots. âGet out,â he said.
âMiss Peach getting coal?â Edith laughed. âHarry, donât be ridiculous.â
She smiled, a knowing smirk on her lips. âCan I please have more hot water for hot chocolate?â She asked.
He sighed, like it was a big to do. But he did it anyway. She was getting really good at reading his eyes. She could see the slight amusement. Or what she hoped was amusement. Maybe it was just more annoyance, but the light shining a little differently in his irises. âIâll keep it coming,â he shrugged and handed her two of the coffee pots.
âYou are like Santa himself,â she grinned and carefully walked out with the hot liquid. Someone held the door for her and Harry headed to the kitchen, smirking once he was behind the cover of the wall away from the rest of the diner.

Christmas morning in a small town was unlike anything she had ever experienced. It was literally a Hallmark movie. There was a thin layer of snow on the ground. Against the lights it was the stuff of dreams. She walked through the quiet town, her second one in town but the first one she had ever spent away from her family.
âPeach?â Harry called. He was taking a bag out behind the diner to the trash. The door to the back was open to what she imagined was his apartment. She heard it was attached to the diner, but she had never seen beyond it.
She gave a wave and walked toward him. âMerry Christmas, Harry!â She chirped and dove in for a hug. Harry awkwardly wrapped his arms around her and despite his awkwardness, it felt like the best Christmas present he had ever received.
âMerry Christmas,â he hummed. âI thought yâwere heading tâyour familyâs place for the holiday?â
âI did last year, but I thought I would try and start my own traditions. Theyâre going to be down this weekend actually.â
âMake sure yâbring them by,â he reminded her.
She smiled. âHow about you? Any traditions?â
Traditions hadnât been part of Harryâs vocabulary in ages. But Gemma was coming and that made him immensely happy. Well, as happy as someone as grumpy as he could be. âMâsister is coming around lunch time. I do a Christmas brunch, and a lot of people stop by.â
âOh, thatâs really lovely,â she grinned. âIâm sure youâre busy then and I donât want to keep you. Have a happyââ
âYouâre invited,â he practically blurted. She blinked, surprise coloring her pretty face.
But she recovered quickly and the smile on her mouth returned and made Harry think that even if he never touched her again, he could settle for a smile directed at her. âReally?â She asked. âI donât want to mess with tradition.â
But that was far from the truth because she had already inserted herself into so many town projects and made the town so much better just by existing. Not to mention she got him to dress as Santa. Tradition flew out the window the moment she stepped foot in the diner.
âSâa whole town thing.â
âWell then, I really have to run because I cannot show up empty handed. Muffins or cupcakes?â
âYâdonât have toââ
âIâll make both unless you tell me.â
Harry rolled his eyes and her stubbornness. âMuffins, Peach. Thank you.â
âChristmas looks good on you, Santa,â she nodded. âYouâve got the best smile, Harry,â she waved and headed back the way she came.

Her mom always hosted parties and if she didnât then it was a neighbor, Grandma, or aunt. She became a makeshift hostess and always tried to make herself useful. The second she walked into the diner she was greeted with cheers and Merry Christmases. Honestly, other than it being a holiday and the garland draped around the place, it was no different than walking into the diner any other day. She scurried to the counter where all the food was lining it, the warmers keeping the food hot, just waiting to be devoured. She could hear noise from the kitchen. Without thinking much longer, she stepped behind the counter, set her muffins toward the end of the line of food, and began gathering the plates and silverware to put at the beginning of the line.
The moment he heard clinking, he stepped from the kitchen. âWhat the heââ
âOh hi,â she chirped over her shoulder. âJust making myself useful.â
âYouâre not supposed to be behind the counter.â
She rolled her eyes. âItâs Christmas and Iâm helping.â
âI like her,â a woman stepped from behind the kitchen wall as well and smiled with a wave. âIâm Gemma,â she said. âMerry Christmas.â
âMerry Christmas. Harryâs sister?â
âThe one and only,â she had the same pretty smile that Harry did. She wondered who they inherited from. But the smile seemed much more natural on Gemmaâs face than Harryâs.
âPeach,â he rubbed a hand over his face. âIf yâget hurt, mâinsurance doesnât cover annoying pains in the butt.â
âWhat a nice thing to say on Christmas,â Gemma rolled her eyes. âHow many times did you come back here when Mum told us not to?â Harry turned to the kitchen before he could answer.
She frowned. âI just wanted to help.â
âDonât worry about it, Harry is just a grump,â she shrugged. âThank you for the help,â she grinned sweetly. âIâm going to bring Mr. Sour out again but please make yourself at home,â she assured.
People chatted with Gemma for most of the time they ate. She helped Harry carry food out from the kitchen even though he grunted at her in annoyance each time she picked something up. She ignored him making a plate for both herself, and Harry. âHarry come eat,â she held the plates of food in her hands. âEveryone is good for the moment, and you deserve it,â she told him.
He sighed as he always did. Like talking to her was getting a splinter taken out of his hand. He grabbed the plates from her and walked toward the side of the diner where there were two seats open. âMiss Peach, these muffins are delicious!â
She grinned. âThank you, an old family recipe,â she said sweetly and plucked a piece of bacon from her plate. Harry headed back to the kitchen and she pouted but he returned quickly holding a cup of coffee for her, cooled and iced as always. âThank you.â Harry sat across from her eating silently, but it was comfortable. Peaceful even. The chatter around them was comforting. âYou do this every year?â She asked. He nodded. âItâs nice, Harry, thank you for inviting me,â she grinned. He didnât look up from his food, but he nodded again, and she was certain the corners of his mouth twitched in an upwards direction.
Harry was dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans and a dark green button down. It brought out the gold specks in his eyes and enhanced how green they were in general. It was her favorite look on him. Given he only seemed to have about six or so shirts in total. His hair was styled just so, so it wouldnât fall in his face. âLet me get a picture of you and Gemma.â
âNo,â he shook his head sipping his orange juice.
âOh, come on, Harry. Sheâs your sister.â
He shook his head. âI donât do pictures.â
She rolled her eyes. âGemma, would you like a picture with Harry?â She called across the room.
âGod, would I!â She hurried over and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. She kissed the side of his face and he rolled his eyes but the smile was a little harder to hide that time around. She pulled her phone from her pocket and held it out to get a picture of the siblings.
âSay Merry Christmas!â
Harry smiled, genuinely. Which made her utterly happy. Gemma kissed his cheek again. âI love you, little brother.â
He shook his head as she hurried back to her conversation across the room. Harry cleared his throat and reached into his pocket pulling out a small box, wrapped perfectly, and slid it across the table toward her.
Of course, her gifts for everyone in town that had made her feel so welcomed were at her house. She planned on giving them out at the diner the following morning. Let the day be about family. So she was unprepared and felt terrible that she had nothing for Harry.
But she was also so shocked she simply gaped. âHarry,â she managed. âI donâtââ
âSânot a big deal,â he shrugged. âCaden... he wanted tâmake sure yâgot a gift. I asked him tâhelp me pick it out. Told him Santa left a note here since he knows yâhere a lot,â he explained. âSâreally from Caden.â But it wasnât. Not really. It was from Harry. The grumpy diner owner who made her pancakes, gave her a hard time because she was a nuisance. âGo on,â he encouraged. She pulled the paper off, revealing a small brown box.
âYour gift is at home,â she told him.
âYâdidnât need tâget me anything,â he rolled his eyes.
âOf course I did, Harryââ
âWill yâjusâ open it, Peach? Yâmaking it a huge deal and honestly, sâhardly anything.â
She opened the lid and inside was a square piece of cardboard. A delicate chain draped along the middle of it, holding the small crescent moon charm at the center of a pair of matching earrings. âHarry,â she brushed her finger on the charm. âThis is too much,â she frowned knowing that he probably spent way too much on someone who was a pain in his ass.
âYâdo a lot for this town,â he shrugged. âSâthe least Caden could do.â
She tilted her head at him. âThank you,â she plucked the necklace off the cardboard and quickly secured it around her neck. Her ears already had Christmas presents jingling and dangling from the lobes, but the necklace looked delicate and pretty against the top of her shirt. âIâll bring your gift tomorrow.â
âWhatever helps yâsleep at night, Peach. Yâwant more food?â He asked standing and grabbing her plate at the same time.
She played with the charm at the base of her throat and nodded. âPlease," she wondered if Harry was aware of how much she truly liked him. How sweet he really was despite the front he put up in front of everyone else. But she supposed for today, since it was Christmas, she would let him play his grumpy self and enjoy the thoughtful gift he bought for her and the yummy food he made.
She hoped this tradition would stick around every year.
