Sometimes I feel tempted to look up fan content for my fav niche book series, but then I realize I'm on tumblr and I will just see people giving the male lead double masectomy scars. And it will be in the ugliest art style you can possibly imagine.

I recently bought the jp volumes of Hellsing along with the guidebook, and since I'm reading the series in its native language for the first time I might as well share some random things that stood out to me in no particular order.

This isn't meant to be an analysis of translation differences, I'm too lazy for that. Also it's been 12 years since I've watched the anime and read the low quality fan scans of the manga so some of these comments are just "Lol, forgot this was a thing"

Volume 1

... I really want to know who this guy is at the beginning, yelling at Alucard in overly familiar language to "Get your shit together!" and "You're the only one we can count on!!". We know from the style of speech that it's a dude, probably just some Hellsing rando, and maybe it's not all that strange since he has probably been working with the same soldiers for years--but it's still funny.

..The way "HELLSING Organization" is spelled out like this reminds me that apparently the name is supposed to be an acronym. No really.

Now that I think about it, the only thing Seras has done this chapter since being turned into a vampire is say "I'm sorry" over and over.... girl you got shot in the lung, why are you apologizing

Not a huge difference, but what Integra actually says here is "Leaving a corpse here for 20 years... You're a terrible person too, Father" and not "What were you thinking, Father?" as the Dark Horse translation suggests (note the lack of question mark in the raw version). I thought that might be of interest to some.

Something else I thought was interesting is the first line Alucard ever says to Integra, and how uncharacteristically polite he sounds.

O-kega wa gozaimasenka- That's two honorific 御's back to back! (He even said them in kanji, even Walter isn’t that straightlaced and he’s literally the butler.) This is also the only time Alucard uses this overly flowery gentlemanly language with her, and good thing too because it would be so annoying if he spent the whole manga ending his sentences with ~gozaimasu.

What I'm trying to get at is, after seeing this sentence in the Japanese version, I'm like 100% sure he actually heard her when she was mumbling to herself about hoping to find a knight in shining armor, and he was totally going the extra mile in playing into that role for their first encounter. Which is kind of sweet.

Lol they misspelled Alucard on the top left... or rather, they incorrectly spelled it right?

One would normally expect Alucard to be written アルカード, and indeed pixiv dict lists アーカード as a misspelling (the u sound is weak in Japanese, so it's easy to mishear arukādo as ākādo). Hirano was definitely aware of the correct spelling though, since he used it in the pilot chapter and in his old character sheets. It was only when the manga officially began that he switched to the アーカード spelling. I doubt it was because of copyright issues because there is already a long precedent of vampire characters named アルカード in various old manga, OVA, and games in Japan that have coexisted without issue (like this guy Hirano mentions in volume 1's afterword).

Most likely Hirano simply thought it looked better, or was a means of differentiating his character from the others somehow. It certainly makes life easier for Japanese fans searching for fanart since アーカード is only going to bring up Hellsing and not the Castlevania character.

Jan Valentine even pokes fun at the spelling discrepancy later in volume 2, but since there wasn't a good way of expressing this in English it was left untranslated.

(Speaking of spelling inconsistencies, there's a lot of minor details I'm noticing now, like half the time the furigana for 吸血鬼 is written バンパイア and the other half it's ヴァンパイア... anyway)

Hirano's habit of jotting random comments underneath his panels is one of the underrated perks of reading the manga

The Dark Horse translation almost makes it sound like she's looking forward to seeing this battle play out, while in the Japanese she simply sounds apprehensive. Almost as if she's worried about them? And she's going out on the field personally to make sure nothing bad happens? Aww

Ok this is a weird tangent, but I just noticed the scans of the Dark Horse version I've been looking at use a slightly larger image range than the Japanese version does. It was only noticeable when I got to this part:

The second image is what the Japanese version of the scan looks like and I can confirm that this is what it looks like in my physical volume as well. You shouldn't be seeing the messy borders of the inking on the bottom like that.

Manga manuscripts are set up so that there are a few millimeters of bleed border around each page. You're supposed to color and line all the way up to (4) while keeping in mind that printing and paper cutting may result in the image being trimmed up to (3).

Either Hirano didn't color his lines all the way to (4) (this man has been drawing manga for years but this is Hirano we're talking about so it's very possible), or Dark Horse didn't honor the original bleed borders of the manuscript. I'm kind of leaning towards the former since there was a Hellsing exhibit in Japan a few years back where you could look at Hirano's original manuscripts and there's one where you can clearly see that he spilled a mug of tea or coffee across the entire page

Anyway, it's weird, and I'm curious to see if someone that owns a physical copy in English can confirm whether theirs actually looks like that. It's volume 1, page 141.

Honestly, I think that guy is just really autistic... and I say this as an autistic person. He obviously has no filter at all. I wish he would stop tagging people all the time and starting things constantly under every single post. There will never be the hard confirmation he wants, like you say totk and ss is as far as it will probably ever go.

Like, I really can't see them *ever* doing more than the strong subtext they put in totk. I'd be surprised if they even get *close* to doing something similar again. Having the princess move into his house and having Link bridal carry her shirtless, etc, was already honestly kind of explicit by E for Everyone Nintendo standards lol. I never even expected them to go so far with it. I expected them to have destroyed the hateno house with sky island debris, or had her live with Impa, or something like that. I wasn't expecting straight up fanservice for all the post-botw fanfiction and fanart made over the years. Someone on the development team was clearly browsing zelink on pixiv (well, some old totk interview even said that the team loved all the botw fanart and it kept them going through totk's development, so I'm like 99% sure that's actually true even lol). But they'll never just come out and say "this is canon" straight up into the camera and we need to accept that.

Honestly, I'm guessing they will probably make the next zelink more platonic if anything after how much they pushed them with ss and botw/totk. I'm a huge romantic zelink lover, botw/totk zelink is my favorite, but I honestly *want* the next versions to be platonic so that there is an actual contrast between versions of them between games (and ok, maybe part of me selfishly doesn't want my beloved enemies-ish-to-lovers tragic royalty x servant to domestic fluff zelink to be upstaged by a zelink that acts obnoxiously less subtle with their feelings and therefore have people call them "better" but that's irrelevant)

I haven't honestly looked into his account - but tbh he's not the only one? I just notice it with him a lot and i'm like "please please separate Zelda from shipping. u can appreciate Princess Zelda outside of her theorized relationship with Link" (this is more of like...a dig at people in general who make shipping be everything when it comes to a character..especially female characters because now I'm struggling to still do a deep dive into Mipha's character without people immediately screaming about how her relationship with link is canon)

TL;DR: I used to repost artwork from Japanese sites back in middle and high school. You might see art posted by me with links to sites that are gone or broken. I don’t do that anymore and I condemn reposters that post art without permission.

Hi, wanted to leave a note for those that find me through fanart posts.

A LONG time ago, I used to repost artwork from other sites without contacting the author first. This practice was common back in 2013-2015, but obviously it isn’t as accepted as it was back then. I was 14 years old, I wanted to show people cool art that I found online and maybe get a few followers from it. Tumblr clout was valuable back then.

Luckily I had enough brains to leave links to credit the artists in every post. Sometimes these links would be in the caption, and sometimes they would be linked directly on the image when you clicked on it. Unfortunately, due to these links being 7+ years old, a lot of these accounts have been deactivated, or some sites have been taken down all together.

Pixiv and Tegaki were the primary sites I scrubbed, both of which had primarily Japanese and Chinese artists. Pixiv experienced a mass deactivation some years after I was reposting due to the amount of people reposting their art without credit on other sites. Despite crediting the artists, I can’t deny that I feel guilty for partaking in that. Tegaki, on the other hand, was completely deleted. Nothing was archived, and though there is a new version available online, those initial posts were never preserved.

Part of me is happy that I was able to help with preserving and archiving old fanart. I still see people reblogging these posts to this day, and it makes me happy that many others see the value in the artwork like I did back then. But I also know many of you assume that I am the artist, or those wise enough to it think that I reposted that art to claim it as my own.

I have not and never will do that. My goal back then was to showcase the work of non-English speaking artists, and I did my best to link to their pages so that all of their work was easily accessible. Now though, almost all of those links are broken, and the effort I put into providing credit is basically useless in the modern day. I know I myself am not the sole reason that those accounts were deleted or that an entire site was deleted. But, as an artist myself, I feel incredibly guilty for trying to gain followers and reblogs using other people’s work. And I myself contributed to the reposting, which was inevitably what caused sites like Pixiv to undergo mass account deletion.

If you were one of those artists, I am sorry that I contributed to your hatred for reposters. I thought that I was one of the “better” ones by leaving links to social accounts, but I recognize that reposting another person’s artwork without permission is just as intolerable.

And for all of you that found me through that fanart reposting, I apologize if I lead you to thinking I owned or had permission to post it. I condemn reposters of any kind unless they have explicit permission to post to a different site. And even then, be skeptical! There is a reason some artists prefer to stick to one or few platforms. That is the preferred community where they want to share their work and we must respect that.

Sometimes reposting can be beneficial to the artist and give them more followers and attention. But more often than not, it gives more recognition to the reposter than the artist. Most people don’t bother clicking the link or redirecting to the artist’s page— and obviously, most of them can’t even reach those sites anymore. I am STILL getting reblogs and comments on artwork that I reposted 7 YEARS AGO. I can’t say the same for those artists.

With all this being said, recognize that posts you see of mine that are old and have artwork that looks nothing like my own are not my work. I reposted that artwork without the artist’s permission. Whether or not you reblog these posts are up to you, but I personally do my best to avoid reposters. Reblog directly from the artists. If you see they have other socials, like their posts and share them on their respective platforms. Art is not a commodity that should be passed around, it is a piece of work that someone made and chose to share. Please respect the artist’s wishes to share their work on whatever sites they choose to share it.

I've told "FRobin fans" to stop to annoy others and they told me that they actually don't ship anything. Often enough people just want to stir shit up, making people hate "the shippers" and so "the ship".

1. They barley talk to each other

Let’s rewind it - Kirishima x reader

Kaminari looked at his red-haired friend who seemingly just noticed that he had spoken his thoughts aloud. Instead of answering him, Kirishima just shook his head and tried to hide his blushing cheeks from his friends’ curious gazes.

No matter how much he tried to twist and turn his words, it was very obvious that he had feelings for you.

Kirishima always fought with himself when it came to the question of whether he’d confess. For him the thought of a boy being honest about his feelings was the manliest thing there ever was, but the possibility of you rejecting and avoiding him in the process was a much greater risk he wasn’t ready to take.

But what he didn’t know was that you actually felt the same way about him. Sadly you were stuck with the thought that he only saw you as a friend and nothing more.

Having Kirishima on one side who was too afraid of losing you and having you on the other side who constantly labeled herself as nothing more but a friend was at first quite the amusing sight for your classmates, but now it was just sad seeing such bubbly personalities beat themselves up over nothing.

And that’s why they came up with the movie night.

Your friends forced you to sit next to your crush which made you more anxious than embarrassed. The reason behind your anxiety was your quirk which resembled Tsuyu’s in a way – to put it bluntly, she was a frog and you were a cat.

The sole problem with your quirk was that whenever you got too excited you’d slightly lose control over it which resulted in happy tail wiggling. So all in all you were afraid that you (or better said your tail) would end up showing and disturbing Kirishima.

You wanted to escape, but thanks to your classmates who were pretty much pushing you further towards your crush there was no escape...

The moment you put on the movie it was as if your worries never existed in the first place. Your whole class was watching an action movie, ate some snacks and overall had a good time.

But soon your enthusiasm started to take a toll on your body. Your eyelids grew heavy, the times you yawned increased and before you even started to nod off a few times.

Of course the people who sat beside you noticed and Mina (as the good friend she was) gently pushed you towards Kirishima so that you could fall asleep on his shoulder and not hers.

The moment your head touched his shoulder he almost had a heart attack. At first he thought that you were still awake, but hearing your deep breaths proved him otherwise.

Kirishima’s concentration was now fully on you. He figured that this would be a one time chance so not savoring it would be his biggest mistake.

The boy began noticing small things about you which he would never have outside of this situation. The length and form of your lashes fitted you just right, the perfectly formed nose, the beautiful lips ...

Every single facial feature of yours was perfect in his eyes, but there was one unexpected thing that made him blush the moment he had heard it.

She’s...purring in her sleep...?

Considering your quirk it shouldn’t have been such a big surprise, but the fact that you (his crush) were so comfortable in his presence that you’d even purr was the happiest moment in his entire life.

That was at least until you almost fell off his shoulder. Luckily Kirishima caught you before your sleeping form even had the chance to collide with his muscular thighs and wake you up in the process. He ended up gently laying your head down on his lap instead, earning himself a silent whistle from Kaminari.

He enjoyed the situation he was in of course, but the fact that the movie was slowly coming to an end made him so unbelievably sad. Waking you up and explaining the situation was something he wasn’t looking forward to, Kirishima wanted to stay like that instead.

“Kirishima, we’re leaving (Y/N)-chan in your hands!”

“What..? B-But wait I-“

“Ha, that’s on you shitty hair!”

As soon as the credits started rolling the whole class got up and abandoned Kirishima, hoping that at least now one of you would finally make the first step.

He was finally alone with you and thinking that he’d have to wake you from your peaceful nap hurt him more than the thought of having to explain the situation to you. Having your head resting on his thighs while you purred softly with each breath, had his heart beating hard against his chest.

Kirishima needed a while until he decided upon a method to wake you up.

He placed his big hand on top of your head and gently began caressing it while whispering out your name as soft as he possibly could.

“Hey (Y/N)...wake up...please”

After a few gentle strokes you were awake and terribly confused. The movie’s credits were rolling from the right to the left, your head was resting on something firm but soft at the same time while a big hand was resting on your head.

It took you some seconds to realize what was going on and when you did, you almost head-butted him.

“K-Kirishima! I’m so s-sorry for falling asleep on your lap, i-it must’ve been quite uncomfortable, right..?”

The boy looked at you but didn’t listen to any of your apologies, instead he just took your hands in his own and looked deep into your eyes.

Not confessing to you out of embarrassment and slight fear was one thing, but watching you degrade yourself thinking so negatively was another thing. He decided that hating him would be better than you hating yourself.

“(Y/N), stop it. Don’t you dare apologize for something like that. I didn’t mind it at all and if you ask me...I have never been more comfortable in my entire life. In fact...I wouldn’t mind if things like that started happening more often.”

The moment he said that it took you some time to comprehend what was hidden behind those words.

“K-Kirishima...do you li-“

“I have a crush on you (Y/N)! I’ve always had one, but..I was too afraid to tell you. Too afraid of my feelings ruining our friendship.”

The silence that followed was torture for him and it sadly made his fears multiply by each passing second. You on the other hand were simply in disbelief that the person whom you’ve had a crush on for so long felt the same way about you.

“I’m sorry, maybe this wasn’t the right time and judging by your reaction...I-I shouldn’t be expecting an answer.”

The red haired boy had almost reached the staircase when he suddenly heard the iconic starting sequence of the movie you had just watched.

He slowly turned his head and now it was you who looked into his eyes.

You were holding the remote control so tight that your knuckles were slowly turning white, the blush on your face had almost become as red as his hair, the TV behind you was now replaying the movie and you would’ve never expected yourself to say the next thing you just said.

“Since both of us apparently would like moments like these to appear more often...let’s rewind it.“

I like you too - Tetsutetsu x reader

Being the class after the famous class 1-A was hard. You guys were constantly standing in their shadow so of course the urge to compete was greater than anything else.

Some of your classmates attempted to surpass a certain person and some attempted to even take on the whole class, but you were neither.

Your focus was lying somewhere else entirely.

Since some months ago you actually fell in love with your classmate Tetsutetsu. The reason behind your crush was actually quite the simple one.

Your homeroom teacher Vlad King had asked you to bring him some documents after class had ended.

In your enthusiasm, you completely overestimated yourself and went ahead carrying the heavy stacks of paper on your own, soon enough though your body began signalizing you that it had reached its limit. Stubborn little you on the other hand just continued moving on until your legs gave out beneath you and you almost fell face flat on the floor...almost.

“Hey (Y/N), you ok?”

You immediately recognized the deep voice that was calling out to you, so you looked up to confirm your suspicions...and they were right.

The person who had caught you and shielded you from a nasty fall was none other than Tetsutetsu.

Embarrassed by the whole situation you began stuttering countless ‘thank you’s and ‘sorry’s to the silver-haired boy who awkwardly nodded a few times.

When you attempted to resume your walk to the teachers’ lounge though that’s when he blocked your path.

“Don’t tell me you intend to continue carrying these papers on your own...”  

Before you could even protest or ask what he meant by that, Tetsu just went ahead and took almost all of them as he started to walk towards the teachers’ lounge.

Since then whenever you needed help with something he’d be the first one to help you out or ask if you were going to be alright on your own.

And that’s basically the backstory to it...

“Come on (Y/N) are you even listening to me?”, Kendo asked you silently as she gently nudged your side, her action causing you to jump a little in the process.

“S-Sorry I got distracted for a second, could you perhaps run this by my one more time..?”, you asked with the sweetest tone you could muster.

She let out a tired sigh and pointed towards the TV.

“I asked which team you think is going to win the fight.”

What team..? And what fight?

You were completely overwhelmed by her simple question so you tried to access the situation you were in right now as calmly and undetected as you possibly could.

When you saw your precious classmates all chilling and eating different snacks while all of their gazes rested on your shared dorm TV it immediately clicked for you.

Class 1-B had finally surpassed class 1-A and even if it was a simple maths test, your whole class had celebrated it as if it was some kind of festive holiday. After countless votings you guys decided to organize a movie night.  

Upon directing your whole attention to the TV once more, you finally realized that you’ve already seen that movie.

No wonder I was daydreaming…

With a barely audible sigh, you leaned back on the couch and relaxed.

Tetsutetsu was so engrossed with the movie that the moment something plopped down on his shoulder he almost threw the bowl of popcorn he was holding on to.

That sudden scare immediately pissed him off.

“Ok, so what the hell do yo-”

His words got stuck in his throat the instant he saw who actually scared him that badly.

Right now he was facing your peacefully sleeping face, but that wasn’t all.

“A-Are you...purring?”, he whispered as silently as he possibly could - afraid that he’d wake you and expose that cute fact he had just found out about you.

Much to his dismay your friend Kendo had also noticed that you were sleeping and had glared at him while whispering the words ‘if you wake her, I’ll kill you’.

After that threat, he made sure that whatever he did, it would be as if he was walking on eggshells.

At first, Tetsu wanted to move you aside, but the sight of you just sleeping and cutely purring away was tearing at his heartstrings.

Thanks to you he just couldn’t concentrate on the last quarter of the movie, the boy was glancing back and forth between your sleeping form and the TV.

And then finally..

The credits!

The silver-haired boy was so excited about the end of the movie that he forgot about you for a moment and let his shoulder slip. Luckily his reflexes were quick enough and he caught you just before your head hit his firm thighs. Moving you back up would be too risky for him so the only way right now, was to let your head rest on his legs.

When all of his classmates began standing up and leaving, he began panicking.

“Hey! Why are you guys leaving me alone? Won’t anyone help me move her, or at least wake her up?!”

His question wasn’t as loud as he’d intended it to be (thanks to Kendo’s warning from before), but even she was as uncooperative as all the others despite being your friend and that surprised him.

In a matter of seconds the two of you were left behind.

Alone…..finally.

You see, Tetsutetsu wasn’t the type of guy who’d show his feelings, especially when he was uncertain if the person opposite of him shared them as well.

That’s how he was with you.

He may be a slight tsundere, but he wasn’t stupid. Tetsutetsu had noticed the slight change in behavior every time he offered you his help or even went up to talk to you. That boy knew that you at least felt something when you were around him and even if he was too embarrassed to say it out loud, Tetsu still couldn’t betray his heart.

“Y’know (Y/N)...that day I helped you with the books wasn’t a coincidence.”

His words were silent. A barely audible whisper. Meant just for your ears and your ears only.

“It may sound funny to you, but...the way you stubbornly challenged your body to keep on moving made me realize, just how strong you actually are.”  

His big hand ran through your hair. The touch of his fingers, gentle.

“I’ve noticed the small glances you give me when we’re in class and you just don’t know how many times I’ve actually wanted to return them. Return them with the same affectionate but gentle demeanor as yours.”

One of his fingers brushed a strand of your hair behind your ear.

“Hey…(Y/N)...?”

He remains motionless, making sure that you’re still asleep as Tetsu then slowly bends down.

“...I like you”

The boy straightens himself back up slowly in order to make sure that there was nobody in the vicinity that could’ve heard or seen that. Unfortunately, he completely missed the small smile on your lips.

“I like you too.”

Self-stats

So, I made time-course graphs of readership parameters overlayed with my fandom activity.

Data is only from ff.net because AO3 is useless in this aspect.

So those are unique visitors of all my stories per month. (A visitor is counted as unique in intervals of 24 hours. I.e. no matter how many times you open or refresh the story within 24 hours, you will be still counted as one visitor).

In the upper section I noted “promotional events” - participation in 3 fandom events, and this wonderful fanart that I got from @yomi-gaeru​ that skyrocketed Dreamt’s views (gone in the purge, available on yomi-gaeru’s Pixiv).

The fics with longer names are abbreviated for the sake on convenience, but I believe the abbreviations are self-explanatory enough.

Long-running multichapter fics are marked with horizontal arrows in the lower section of the graph. One shots (and one two-shot) are marked above the multichapters with small arrows pointing to the timepoint of publication.

The total views for all stories (graph below) are not much different in terms of the shape of the curve, but this graph describes more realistically the amount of reading that was done by the public, because every chapter is counted as a separate “view”. The numbers on the axis reflect how many “chapter units” (chapters or oneshots) were read. However, refreshing, or opening the fic/chapter multiple times generates additional, false “views”.

So, now I could see really clearly that for a veeery long time “Dreamt” was my only popular story. Not that I didn’t know it before, but it’s nice to see the graphs. (Btw, what luck did I have that my first ever story turned out to be a hit!). “Dreamt” generated lots of views during its publication, and during its revision. After I completed it, the readership dropped very quickly, and “Gen to Yume” (a sequel to “Dreamt”) very quickly lost interest of the readers. And then there was almost two years when none of my stories (except “Dreamt” revision) didn’t really catch up with the readers.

“Dreamt” was read ca. 8000 times per month during its publication and revision. (though there should be a correction factor for the ‘false’ views, but I don’t have an idea yet how to correct for those)

And then, in summer 2019, my stories gain momentum. Or maybe it was the effect of me publishing more, because now that I look at this graph, I’m pretty damn impressed about the number of fics I produced...

The impact of participation in Fandom Events is clearly visible in the both graphs above, and even better when one looks at Profile Visitors (graph below). So, as expected participation in the events indeed pays off.

The sharp peak in Profile Visitors in September 2017 is people finishing “Dreamt” and going through my profile to open the freshly published “Gen to Yume”. The peak in December 2017 correlates with completion of “Gen to Yume”, but I don’t really understand it.

Nevertheless, I looked for a common denominator that would distinguish my popular stories from those less popular... The choice was pretty obvious: MadaSaku or not-MadaSaku (graph below):

I categorized my fics into: MadaSaku, Background MadaSaku and Other. And it’s pretty clear now: the more MadaSaku I write, the more momentum my readership gains.

Why is it? Is it because there is a niche that is not quite filled, that the readers are hungry for MadaSaku fics? Or is it something that I write particularly well? Or was I categorized as MadaSaku writer because of “Dreamt” and this is how my following is oriented?

Not gonna complain, Madara is my favourite character, and MadaSaku is my OTP. But it would be nice to know. Anyone care to share their opinion?

Also, as a tangent observation - regular updates seem to be very important. When there is a break, the readership starts more less from the level on which it stopped by the previous update. When the updates come in quick succession - the readership is larger for every chapter.

Wow, that was really self-indulgent. But so fun. And I like having some documentation. Also, maybe publishing my readership data can contribute somehow to the feedback debate. On this note, I'd like to state that throughout those “best” months I was receiving 40-60 reviews per month.

-The daily routine of the Akimichi family- 1/?

Alright, this was said comic about the future Akimichi fam. Nobody complained so I guess it’s OK?

Just for this specific comic, I won’t be uploading it on Pixiv. I honestly don’t want to stray too far on the internet. So please don’t share it through Facebook or Twitter? VK Mitsucho page is OK, since it’s like a fanclub? I know this might be useless, since I have 0 control over this but you can’t blame me for trying?  Why? I guess some people might hate it. I don’t want to atract hate to the ship nor to anybody that likes this.

This is based on @miss-akimichi’s future headcanon! I really wanted to complete the whole routine so a bit of my own headcanon is there too. But mainly it’s her idea!

Warning: Both Mitsuki and Chouchou are in their early 30s here. This is a married couple what if type of comic, so they get a little touchy with each other(it’s sfw don’t worry!) But I thought I would warn people just in case this type of content was not of their liking! Finally. Sorry if there are mistakes, English is not my first language and I don’t have my Grammarly account in this laptop :_:

This was the first part! It covers the very start of the morning, what comes next is the breakfast(Akimichi without breakfast?? I had to!)  Expect more rebelious children(Maybe next month!) Also I added that pinkish/orangey texture to make the pencil lines less rough but now that I think about it... It fits that phrase Chouchou likes so much “rose colored future“(This must be a japanese thing bc it’s not the first time I hear this)

I...am fond of the kids design. I think is very hard to design children without straight out ripping the parents designs or just doing whatever and they don’t look like their parents at all. Dunno if I made them right! I didn’t give them a name... I don’t have the heart? Whenever Mitsucho happens or not, all of this is going to be butchered by canon anyway.

Mitsuki has this wavy/messy hair style the daughter has. The little boy’s hair is more straight like Chouchou’s but it has a part where is a little wavy. Of course golden eyes(Snakey, but the girl has the same warmer gold tone of Chouchou) I wanted them to have lighter hair like Mitsuki so it would make a bigger contrast with their skin. They wear kimono like clothing. I explain better this in the breakfast part, where we see what Mitsuki and Chouchou wear on the regular. The sleeves are not as long, the tips of the finger/hands can be seen. Since they perform Akimichi techniques too, I thought it would be a hassle for them to have the sleeves as long as the ones Mitsuki wears.

The girl is 4 years older than the boy... Tho this design in particular is like a couple of years after than the comic itself.

This is one of the first designs I did. Prior reading about this headcanon, I liked the idea of twins(But for some reason every other ship with Mitsuki has produced fanart with twins so I dropped the idea sadly lol) The color scheme gives me some little twin stars vibres lol. That notLuffy. Sorry I haven’t read/watched OP! But I know about gomu gomu punch at the very least.

It seemed as if all of Ann's courage had left her the moment Hibiki turned his attention upon her. She felt her cheeks grow warm, and her gaze dropped to the ground as she thrust a neatly-wrapped bag of homemade chocolates out to him without a word. It felt a little childish, yeah, but it was the first time she'd ever given someone non-obligatory Valentine's Day chocolate, and she couldn't help but be nervous--especially since she'd made the candies herself.

   she’d been so adamant about finding an out of the way place to talk, you’d almost been afraid something was wrong– in fact, you’re not entirely convinced there isn’t, the way ann’s shuffling in place anxiously. she’s looking at you, ducking her gaze, trying again– as though trying to well up the courage to just spit it out and be done with it already. her face is flushed… is she sick? you’ve half a mind to just drag her back inside; it’s chilly out, and surely whatever she has to say is worth a few custormers or sojiro hearing… 

   it’s not like anyone cares anyways; everyone’s too busy with their own love lives or commiserating over a lack of them. ryuji’s already whined to you about it enough times already today. ( yes, you’d told him, chocolate from his mom totally counts. … only it doesn’t, you know this because mom’s always given you and hitomi the leftovers of whatever she’s made for dad this year. you just didn’t want to crush him more than you already had. )

   oh. maybe she just doesn’t want hitomi or morgana hearing? you can see blue eyes watching you meaningfully when you glance over at the door, and shift uncomfortably; does he know about today? even worse, does he know you’re his “rival” for ann’s affections? the thought of potentially hurting the “totally-not-a-cat” makes your stomach do a flip– it always does, whenever you think about telling the blonde how you really feel, every time you brush against her, that one time you’d found yourself holding her hand in a busy crowd so you wouldn’t get separated and morgana was there… 

   ah, well. it’s not like ann’s about to whip out some chocolate or anything. maybe she wants to talk about the phantom thieves. you’ve long since turned in your masks, but people finding out you’d been the ones changing hearts would be… inconvenient. the craze still hasn’t died out yet, though now that everything has calmed down you’ve found you’ve been treated more like anime characters than anything. futaba’d been pretty eager to show you the slew of fanart the silhouettes broadcast all over tokyo had spawned on pixiv, after all… 

   but then… why would she ask you to talk outside to begin with? the privacy suddenly wouldn’t be so private anymore… your head is starting to spin from just how utterly confused you are by all of this, until ann finally finds her fire and thrusts a…

   oh.

   so it was something for valentine’s day after all. 

   and in that instant, your mind goes utterly blank. you forget everything you’ve been worrying about– whether she’s cold, if morgana’s okay, whether or not hitomi’s going to tease you for weeks on end about this… all you can focus on is the pretty bag and even prettier girl staring at the ground as though it’s the most interesting thing on the planet right about now. she’d gotten you chocolate. and from the looks of it, she’d tried to make it herself. 

   your heart swells as you find your own cheeks growing red, and it takes you a moment to tear yourself from your reverent – yet surprised – stare to gently accept the candy bag as delicately as though ann spun it from glass, a soft noise of admiration escaping your lips as you get a better look at it; it’s so cute…

   she is so cute.

“ann…” you breathe softly, voice almost drowned out by the sound of your heart thumping across your chest. “this is… for me?” 

   of course it is– that’s why she’s given them to you. dumbass. your own blush spreads to the tip of your ears, and you press on by carefully loosening the bow and fishing out one of the candies. it’s a little misshapen; clearly, ann made these herself. your heart flutters once more at the thought that she’d gone out of her way for you, and you pop the chocolate into your mouth. 

   it’s good! more than good– great, even!

“they’re really good, ann,” you beam at her, tying the bag back up and placing it into your pocket so you can pull the blonde into a hug without crushing it. “thank you! i’d… actually forgotten all about valentine’s day ‘till now, heh. i’m… really glad you thought of me. it’s… all i could’ve asked for and– hell, it’s more.”

   your voice softens, and your grip tightens for just one moment, before loosening once more. “did you… want to go out somewhere, maybe? boss actually doesn’t need me around today, so… it would be nice to spend the day with you. just you– no hitomin or morgana tagging along.” 

more than nice, but you don’t want to misinterpret the chocolate. it could just be obligation chocolate; perhaps leftovers for a gift to suzui-san? your heart sinks at the thought, but you refuse to give up. even if it’s just because you’re friends, ann thought of you all the same…

   god, you’re going to have to pull out all the stops for white day, aren’t you? mom’s going to be over the moon when you ask her for ideas… and hitomin’ll never let you hear the end of it, either. 

   it’s worth it for ann, though. more than worth it. it always has been.

Some final commentary on Cosmic

which turned into yet another analysis of JDC, Tsukumojuku and Jorge Joestar because I have zero self-restraint. Half this post is searching for overarching themes and wacky theories, have fun with my ramblings I guess

[big spoilers for Cosmic and Tsukumojuku, not really for Jorge Joestar]

While I decided to finish Cosmic first, the recommended reading order is Cosmic (1st half) -> Joker -> Cosmic (2nd half). I guess this better ties both books together and helps avoid some Joker spoilers that are in Cosmic. The new edition even encourages it by labeling the tomes of Cosmic with Ryu and Sui, and Joker with Sei and Ryo. So you’re supposed to read “Seiryo in Ryusui” *rimshot* The cover art is also meant to be put together in that order (notice that the last cover also connects to the first though, and you can try putting the shorter edges together too):

On the book’s theme, and some meta:

I’m actually glad I’ve read Tsukumojuku before this, as it gave me a solid grip on the meta and the ridiculous detectiving. It made me LOVE the very ending, especially the “walking towards the end of the story with this tiny last moment lasting forever” part -- in hindsight of Tsukumojuku’s ending I almost cried at this point. The meaning’s a bit different, of course: Tsukumojuku has the triplets realize they should leave their daydream, and so it was both a sad and joyful ending, with them trying to stretch their last moments being ‘Tsukumojuku’. Cosmic has Juku and Yasha being a little apprehensive but determined to reach ‘the end of the story’, and at the end, they’re happy and joking around while (wittingly or not?) walking into eternity as the book ends, and with it their existence (...which doesn’t sound nearly as dramatic when you know there's a sequel).

Adding to that, I believe the last words imply the author (=the heavens forever watching over the characters) is joyful about the end (’the heavens themselves laughing’). Note that when Juku (or is it?) first appears in the book, in that post office scene, right after the 19 consecutive tragedies we just had to read through, we learn that ‘the heavens have been crying, but now it was as if they started laughing’, and Juku looks up at the sky and smiles. The end of the epilogue has the second-person someone (the reader?) be sad about the book coming to an end, with statements like ‘just two paragraphs remain until the end’ (and there really are only two short paragraphs in the book left after this!), and describing the heavy rain that starts in those two paragraphs as ‘the heavens crying’ (so... the sadness of both the reader and the author?). Finishing a good book, whether as a writer or a reader, is indeed both a joyful and a sad event. Similarly, the detectives are all happy and inexplicably sad when Juku claims the case has been solved. (There’s an echo of this theme even in Jorge Joestar, when with mere 15 pages left until the end of the book Jorge cries because ‘this adventure’s almost over’.)

I love the reccurring existential theme having to do with being a fictional character. It wasn’t as in-your-face as in Tsukumojuku, but it was there. While I skipped that in recaps, one of the locked room stories features a delusional man who believes he’s just a character in a novel. While scary, this belief is somewhat comforting too, and he notes it’d be nice to have a role to fulfill; to die with the sense you achieved all that you were meant to do, that The Author loved and appreciated you for who you were, and that you’re going to live eternally through a novel. (Jorge Joestar has Tsukumojuku mention how having a role to fulfill under Beyond’s care gave him comfort -- same thing, really.) But the character understands that all stories will eventually undergo destruction, and dreads it. Of course, the final message of the book, strengthened by the final events (the cult’s failure, Shiranui dying right after Juku’s birthday, and even --the book itself ending--), is that we have to accept that nothing can last forever, and the old will be replaced by the new, stories included.

When Juku and Yasha revealed the culprit’s initials, I honestly thought that he’d turn out to be the author, and the reason why they got different initials was that Juku saw the pen name (Seiryoin Ryusui) and Yasha the real name (Kanai Hidetaka). Since Yasha seemed shocked that Juku said ‘S’, I thought it meant that Yasha saw a full name but neither of the initials was ‘S’. I also thought Otohime’s advice -- to ‘look at the events from a distance’, to ‘withdraw yourself from events’ -- actually meant you have to look at the story from a distance... that is, lean back and look at the book you’re holding, which has the author’s name on the cover. Later, the sudden fourth wall break during the press conference scene, with the author prompting the reader to think carefully about who the Locked Room Lord may be, and writing his signature right under that question, only made me more sure. And there were a bunch of scenes before the Big Reveal in which other JDC characters reacted to the solution with feeling as if their world was destroyed, or getting drunk, or stressing out rather hard, so I expected they got hit with existential crisis upon learning The Truth, and that Juku will just go full meta and say that the culprit is the author: the one who really designed and 'committed’ the murders. Though with the book ending as it did, it’s not a stretch to say that Seiryoin really IS confirmed to be the true Locked Room Lord. In a way.

Other random comments:

This book is positively untranslatable. It features stuff like extensive kanji wordplays; messages in Caesar cipher but using the dictionary order of hiragana; deciphering a number as if it was an old-fashioned pager message; or reading the final message by putting the first syllable of the last kanji of the victims’ names together. And that damn Matsuo Bashou pun. All the name puns, really.

The language is rather hard, definitely harder than Maijo’s works. I think I’ll take some time to get better Japanese skills before going for Joker. (The JDC book I expect to enjoy the most is The Simons’ Case, though -- young Ajiro dadding over solving a case with kid Juku sounds amazing, and it’s a lot of fans’ fave)

For some reason, the main characters sure like to have the ‘castle’ kanji (城) in their names, like 鴉城 蒼司 (Ajiro Souji), 龍宮 城之介 (Ryuuguu Jounosuke), and  天城 漂馬 (Amagi Hyouma). ...I can’t help but notice that a certain 城字 ジョースター (Jouji/Jorge Joestar) would fit right in, lol. He pretty much is a meta-detective already, what with all the confidence and insight he gets from his Beyond.

I live for Ajiro’s and Juku’s relations. LOVE this stressed detective dad being proud of his ridiculously kind detective son.

Unexpectedly I also loved the friendship between Juku and Yasha. (With added tears because, y’know. Inugami Yasha. Investigating with Tsukumo Juku. Being friends and stuff.)

I like Ryuuguu Jounosuke quite a lot, both because of his character / reasoning skills, and because he’s as canonically aroace as he can be in a 90s book. not that you’d know that with all the Hikimiya/Ryuuguu yaoi fanart on pixiv

Unfortunately, I can’t praise Seiryoin for good rep as he’s miserable with other representation. The locked room chapters feature the depraved rapist bisexual trope, then a Bury Your Lesbians trope, and then this weird thing where a young guy has a gay crush and concludes that he must have become gay because he was abused by his mother (???)... but as it later turns out, in reality (ie. not in the manuscript) the object of the crush was a woman, so the gay part didn’t even happen. The fuq? Also there’s a one-scene-only black woman officer who’s only there so we can be told how physically strong and intimidating she is and I’m not sure how I should feel about that. I’m also pissed off that when a male detective uses vague reasoning out of nowhere, more a supernatural feeling than anything else, he gets called a meta-detective and is oh ah so elite and amazing!, but when Nemu does it it gets called ‘woman’s intuition’ and ‘fuzzy reasoning’ and she’s not considered a meta-detective, fucking really? (Maybe it is a little different, idk, she wasn’t detectiving a lot in this so we didn’t really see what she’s capable of)

On the other hand, I liked that the way Juku encouraged Nemu to become a detective involved using his connections to arrange meetings with other disabled detectives, so she could talk frankly with them and get a feel for how high-tier detectiving while disabled (esp. in terms of sight-related disabilities) is like. That’s a nice detail.

Speaking of him... Tsukumo Juku is pretty Mary Sue-ish in this, which I don’t mind (and I would be more surprised if it didn’t turn out to be intentional later), but I can imagine other readers not really liking him that much. I’ve read that Juku unfortunately doesn’t really get deeper characterization until the Carnival books, where we learn fun little stuff about him, eg. he’s horrible at cooking, and his ringtone is the opening for Manga Nippon Mukashi Banashi (an old anime introducing little kids to folktales). (I’m wondering whether or not the Kintaro thing in Jorge Joestar is related to this somehow? I don’t have many spoilers for Carnival, maybe there’s more folktales references... aside from the Ryuuguu family’s names referencing Urashima Taro, that is. And now I wonder why Jorge gets a folktale-related kids song stuck in his head so easily hmmm)

It was never explained who sent the manuscript to JDC. So far, judging by the scene with the beautiful androgynous person at the post office, and retroactively by the entire Story-sending mess in Tsukumojuku, I’d say it was Juku himself, somehow. A time-travelling Juku from the future, maybe? I don’t know anymore, man, but I’ve read that previous cases of the series come together in Carnival, so here’s hoping it gets explained better than as “a ghost did it maybe”.

For the longest time I kept wondering where the personality dissonance between this Juku and the Detective God in Tsukumojuku came from. Why would this ever gentle, kind and forgiving character be written as some vore murderer monster dude? So, here’s my current Reaching Theory TM. We know the Detective God really is ‘an Angel’ as he claimed, since in the Seventh Story, Tsukumojuku realizes that he himself is actually not ‘the Angel’ but ‘the Beast’ (he thinks about it during that, er... awkward chest pipe moment, if you remember). Now, canon Juku actually is compared to ‘an angel or a god’ in Cosmic, and it’s a good descriptor: he’s kind and forgiving, but has the sorta detached, not-quite-human air; he’s androgynous, unnervingly perfectly beautiful, and one shouldn’t look directly at him for too long. The Detective God, on the other hand, is an Angel in the same way those demons from Jacob’s Ladder are: only when you stop holding onto mortal life (the imaginary world in Beyonds’ case) and accept your death (accept you have to go ‘outside’), you may notice they’re actually angels who have been trying to help you realize the truth. Through brutal means, but still. I guess the Detective God was created by the part of the Beyonds’ subconscious that understands they have to accept the reality, or something. He’s a bit like Silent Hill monsters in this way. Note that the person the Detective God mainly attacks (and possibly talks with him off-screen earlier) is the Original. And the Story it happens in, Fourth (II), is the point after which the Original probably started thinking about the plan involving killing everything they hold dear to make them face reality. It was really Detective God who first made the Original and the Second One aware of ‘God’ -- even if indirectly: getting them to think about ‘God’ by making them refute the claim that Seiryoin is their God, getting them to think about what the presence of ‘the canon Tsukumo Juku’ before them means for their own existence. Or Maijo just likes to write hard vore and i’m thinking too much

Oh. I saw some fanart on Pixiv, and(as I previously stated, I love rare pairs(including AndyAki)), there was a piece where while Akiyama lay beaten and dying alone in the street, he called Domyouji, and the phone just rang, and wasn't picked up. How do you think this scenario would happen, and play out?

Akiyama and Doumyouji is another pairing I haven’t seen much foreither, more rarepair alphabet boy shipping. I imagine everyone elsewould think they have a strange dynamic almost because Akiyama’s sostrict and disciplined and Doumyouji’s more immature and enthusiasticbut maybe they complement each other well somehow, like they’re bothexcellent swordsmen and Akiyama’s steadiness helps to temperDoumyouji’s immaturity while Doumyouji’s more free personality helpsloosen up some of Akiyama’s more strict disciplinary side. Maybe inthis scenario they haven’t quite gotten together yet, like theyaccidentally run into each other at a coffee shop and start talkingand find out that they get along surprisingly well. As it happensthough Akiyama’s actually been looking at Doumyouji for a while andquietly nursing a crush but he thought it would be inappropriate tosay, since after all Doumyouji’s younger and acts rather immature andAkiyama is his superior officer.

So then Akiyama is sent out on a routine mission and maybe Benzai’ssick so he can’t come along meaning it’s just Akiyama all alone. Heends up being surrounded by this gang of Strains and badly beaten,they leave him to bleed out in the streets and he’s just lying theredizzy from blood loss and all he can think of is that he never didsay anything to Doumyouji. He starts to dial Doumyouji’s number andhears the phone ringing and ringing on the other end, waiting for itto pick up so that he can at least say something before he losesconsciousness but there’s no reply and finally Akiyama’s eyes slideshut as he thinks ‘Ah…I missed my chance I guess.’ MeanwhileDoumyouji was busy talking with everyone else and it’s not untilshortly after that he realizes the missed call on his phone. He’ssurprised to see it’s Akiyama and tries to call him back but noanswer. Everyone else is just like 'oh he’s probably busy’ butDoumyouji gets this concerned look as he’s like no, Akiyama-san’sreally not the type of guy who doesn’t answer even when he’s busy,he’s super polite all the time after all. The only other person whoseems mildly concerned is poor sick Benzai so Doumyouji decides to gofind Akiyama, just in case he needs a hand with the Strain case he’sworking on.

Doumyouji follows Akiyama’s signal to this alleyway and then justfreezes when he sees Akiyama lying there unmoving, covered in bloodand breathing shallowly. Doumyouji runs over to him and immediatelycalls for help before yelling at Akiyama to wake up, alluncharacteristic seriousness now as he tries to stem some of theblood flow. Eventually Akiyama stirs and looks up blearily at him,wondering if maybe he’s hallucinating. Doumyouji gives this weaklaugh like yeah, Akiyama-san, you hallucinated a lot you better comeback to headquarters with me. Akiyama smiles thinly and is like 'oh,I didn’t get to tell you, you know…that I like you…’ and theyjust trails off as he falls unconscious again. Doumyouji’s like waitwhat but Akiyama’s not waking up now and he’s just freaking outbecause what the hell. (And then when they get back to the hospitaland Akiyama wakes up injured but alive Doumyouji’s like 'hey, don’ttell people things and then fall unconscious!’ and Akiyama is veryembarrassed.)

Who Are Those Chibi Characters? [10 Anniversary Special]

So you’re now accustomed to the gallery and all its intricacies. But you’re probably wondering what those Chibi characters are adorning the header (and several other areas, like on Twitter, DeviantArt, Pixiv, and the 10 Anniversary Poster). I’ve already explained a little bit on both DeviantArt and Pixiv where they come from. But now I’ll give a full explanation as to when they were created, what they were associated with, what years they represent, and if they’ll still have any use in any projects or stories I create.

I should probably start with the fish, the odd-man out of the entire group. Finne is my mascot. He technically debuted in 2006 under a different name and part of a fan-game idea. However in 2009, I started drawing him more frequently among my friends and family, acting as something of a calling card whenever I was around and I wanted to leave behind a drawing. He was quick and easy to draw compared to other characters I’ve done. He soon became part of my “DeadPhoenX” logo in 2010. My gaming blog “The Wired Fish” was also named after him and incorporated into the site’s logo. Today, he’s still in almost everything I do. As a matter of fact, since 2015 he’s included as an Easter egg in all original art (not fanart) that I do. Think can you find him? He represents years 2010-2013. Chelsí is the next one, full name Chelsí Pleinair. Her creation is an interesting case and is something that almost every girl in this group has in common. She was created in 2004 as “Chelsea” and was a schoolgirl with a French Painter theme. Her design was inspired by a line of Lollipop Girls dolls that my sister was collecting. The story she was included in was actually a hentai story I had concepts of. However that went nowhere with the story being scrapped (but the characters being retained for repurposing in other stories). She was then (somewhat subconsciously) repurposed for a medieval fantasy story as a French-themed princess around late 2005. Like before, it too was hentai themed. However that story was scrapped too (with the characters being retained as well). So she was never drawn again until 2015. There was a ribbed sweater craze going on in the ecchi art community, and I was wondering how I could get in on it. Then I remembered having a French painter girl in my repertoire of characters that wore a sweater. So I brought her back with her old design and under a new name spelling, Chelsí, and made her sweater ribbed. Once uploaded, she became my postergirl for everything I do, representing the art side of things. Since she debuted in very late 2015 but had more art in 2016, she represents 2016. The catgirl, Rhapsody, was actually something of an error in both name and design. Starting with the name, she was actually a short-and-pink-haired catgirl. She debuted with a set of 5 catgirls and was part of a regular story idea I had. You can still find her tucked away in my DeviantArt gallery. All catgirls I’ve ever drawn had musically themed names. Here’s where the error part comes in. I had another catgirl under a different name that has the current white paws, pink stripes, and blonde hair look. She was part of a hentai story idea that saw all the catgirls from the normal story repurposed to here and completely naked. So she was a new addition to the group. When it came time to draw her and Lullaby together on DeviantArt, I realized too late that I accidentally named the new girl Rhapsody. So I pretty much gave her the Street Fighter II treatment. She would stay as Rhapsody while the old one would have whatever name the new girl originally had. She represents her online debut year, 2007. Belinda comes from the second hentai story idea that Chelsí once appeared in. All I could remember was that she was a witch, and that’s about it. Any details about her relevance to the story were all forgotten. In 2015, I wanted to get in on the Halloween art and had the perfect character I could use. So I brought back Belinda from the Scraps ghetto and gave her the full artwork treatment 10 years later (since the story she was in was conceived in 2005). She currently doesn’t have much of a story and is really only made for anything Halloween/spooky themed. Since she made her online debut in 2006, that’s the year she represents. Artwork with Belinda: Belinda's Halloween Rush (2015) Next is Harriette. She came from the same hentai story that Rhapsody came from. Talking more about that story, the theme of it was mythical fantasy-creature girls. Not necessarily monster girls, but things like Mermaids, wood nymphs, fairies, angels, catgirls, etc. Harriette (whose original name was simply Fluffy), was one of only two bunnygirls in that story. She never made her debut online and was never repurposed for any other story. When Easter 2015 was close by, I figured it was time I drew her again. However since Japanese artists and quite a bit of the ecchi/hentai community like it, I decided to make her a bit thicker this time, as well as give her a new name. Her name is actually a pun on “Hare”, which actually gave me a hard time sometimes when I would say her name out loud and trying to squeeze the “Hare” in there. I’ve since given up and just pronounce it like normal. Since someone already has 2015, Harriette’s online debut year, she instead represents 2005, the year before I joined DeviantArt (and having any online presence). The No-Name Mermaid comes from the same hentai story as Harriette and Rhapsody. She actually had a name back then, however around that time naming things didn’t really work too well. I can’t remember her name right now, but it was probably something simple and dumb. So now she doesn’t have a name. She was paired with another mermaid in that story that I might draw in the future. I wanted to do something water themed in 2015 that would help me flex my background-making muscles at the time. In bringing her back, I changed up her tail fin design a bit, and also made the tied hair more straight instead of making it flow out like big strands. She represents her online debut year, 2015. Maybe she’ll finally have a name before the decade ends! Artwork with the No-Name Mermaid: Sailing Through The Sea (2015) 

Lola’s origin is actually kinda forgotten. I can’t quite remember if she came from either a hentai story or a different story. Regardless, she ended up getting repurposed for the only story idea to make it to DeviantArt, Devangie’s Fairy Tale. She herself made her debut in 2007 with a light counterpart. However I made the mistake of building up her individual story, as well as others, before building up the world she would inhabit. This is something that I did a lot during my highschool/pre-online days. This would result in a lot of stories getting the axe and the characters shelved or repurposed. This would also include Devangie’s Fairy Tale. That story has been abandoned with all the human characters (except one of them) getting shelved. The fairies that were in that story might get repurposed back into the hentai that they were once in. I currently have plans to repurpose Lola into a normal story, this time without her light half. Lady Jess comes from a series of girls I drew in 2009 called the BladeLadies. At the time, I was really into rock and heavy metal, getting a metal poster calendar and got inspired by the music video Ghost Town by the group Shiny Toy Guns. I remember sketching out a more realistic semi-nude Heavy-Metal inspired woman in a small sketchbook I had. Right next to her I drew this tiny puppet like thing with a cartoonish blade, a helmet covering half her head, and very pointy torpedo-tits. I wondered what this would look like if it was drawn larger. So I did that on the next page. I then got the idea to draw more of them with different boob deformations and weapons. The end result was seven of them being made. Also around this time was when I would change programs right in the middle of the series, forcibly getting switched from Picture Publisher 7 to GIMP. Lady Mimi is my newest creation, making her debut in 2014 with the series BladeLadies 2nd. She was actually conceived soon after the first wave of BladeLadies ended, most likely around 2009/2010. The old theme of BladeLadies 2nd was actually based on gore, building up from the first wave’s theme of rock and heavy metal. I had drawn some BladeLadies concepts, with a few catching on. One of them was Lady Mimi with the giant piecing in her tongue and the tongue length being much shorter than now. At this time however, I had really bad artist block as well as college work eating up a huge chunk of my time. On top of that, I ended up realizing how bad I actually was at drawing gore. Upon my return to making pics on DeviantArt, I decided to bring back the BladeLadies. The theme was switched from gore to a circus, and this some had something of a story unlike the first wave. But it’s very minimal right now so that I can build the world first. Lady Mimi represents 2014. Artwork with Lady Mimi: BladeLadies 2nd (2014).

Meet the newest girl to the chibi parade, Xiuying Gushan! Like many of the other girls, Xiuying had her start in a hentai story. And like the others, when that story folded, they were all shelved. Due to my lack of knowledge on the specifics of Chinese and Japanese culture and language back then, Xiuying's original name wasn't even Chinese, but Japanese. I had desires to bring her back for a while, but I didn't find a good time to do it. I finally had a chance during this year's Lunar New Year celebration. The release did something of a snag, but I was able to upload the pic close enough to the Lunar New Year Date to be relevent enough. Currently, Xiuying is being utuilized in a story as high-ranking general. The story details won't be known anytime soon however. Xiuying represent 2017.
