Rory has been trending a little bun-obsessed lately, probably because we have lots of bunnies in our condo complex and she has to practice a lot of impulse control as she can't chase or really fixate on them, so I've been looking for ways to help her fulfill her bunny-murder urges safely.

Unfortunately we don't have a ton of areas I comfortable coursing her (letting her chase buns until she can't see them or catches them) because our bunnies are mostly urban animals BUT I was at the bougie pet store for unrelated reasons and they had dried rabbit feets which gave me an idea!

I bought a few and got some paper bags and put Rory in another room while I hid them around the apartment to sniff out, destroy, and eat. I figured it would satisfy some of her murder urges, even if it's not the whole predation sequence.

She was pretty happy about it! I'll try to add this to our rotation of enrichment activities and maybe get a few rabbit feet to chuck at her outdoors sometimes. Hopefully it'll help vent those bunny frustrations so they don't build up and hurt my good dog behaviours.

writing thots under the cut

there does sort of come a point where canon mirroring character personalities do have to be altered slightly to make a story flow. this is sort of the peril of working with someone else's characters and writing a whole big dumb au, because i feel like by the time i reach the last chapter of this story, you'll probably look at my cowboy and back at the og musical characters and find that they're no longer quite as similar as they used to be. i just hope by the time that happens youre able to look at the work as a whole and appreciate that there is a logical flow from one end to the other, and that while the og is a 2 hour stage production, my big dumb thing will have spanned several thousand more words than the source material. all that to say is, the more i write the more the cowboy and others have chances to undergo different scenarios and grow in different ways, and all i can hope for is that the changes to their collective character dont completely take you out of the narrative as a whole.

not to start nd discourse in the tsh fandom but.... i think it's quite telling how much more people are eager to engage and discuss about henry being neurodivergent, because he matches certain stereotypes about people with asd and is, most importantly, "high functioning" (whatever that means) also described as attractive versus bunny, who is canonically confirmed to be nd and displays behavior patterns that align with about every single neurodivergence out there, but is... less physically attractive and boyfriend material. most people in fact make fun of and mock him.

Now you were back in your little cabin in the woods. You had even lit a fire and dragged your mattress with its nesting contents into the small living room to get properly cozy. Price couldn't help the growl that left him when Gaz tried to stand. "No, you're gonna sit back down and we're gonna make camp."
