Re: Sera Critical Comments

"Sera is transphobic." She’s literally quoting what nobles are saying at the party. She’s irritated by these nobles for such comments. Those are not her beliefs. 

"Sera physically abuses a romanced Inquisitor.” She tackle hugs the Inquisitor after after a love confession. She points her bow a her to check for possession. She almost hits her after experiencing a very traumatic experience is terrified and doesn’t know how to react. (She also apologizes (calls herself stupid), and explains her reaction. She never does it again.)

"Sera is racist towards Dalish elves." Yes she is, please remember she is literally ashamed of being an elf due to where she was raised. She grew up with humans and they tend to have not-so-favorable opinions on the Dalish. But she also says during her roof scene that she learned to hate and it’s stupid and shows her desire to be accepted throughout the game. Yes Sera is flawed, just like a real person. Most people seem to conveniently forget the context of these comments. (or don’t even bother to get to know her)

Why does Santa Claus give naughty children coal?

So this one time I had gotten very little sleep, I started thinking about just that. Crazy thing is that it was in the middle of the summer, so why I was thinking about it in the first place is a mystery to me.

But I digress. The reason for this post is to talk about the reasoning for why Santa gives coal of all things to naughty children. Why not a piece of rock or some other useless shit? Now that I mention “useless”, what is the property of coal? Well, I may be stating the obvious here, but coal is a black and cold rock-like thing that you ignite to generate heat. Let me make that a bit clearer: Coal begins as cold, black and a stove with unlit coal is not really that comfortable to sit around, but if you ignite it, it glows with warmth and comfort (granted you’re not sitting TOO close to it).

What I came up with is that the piece of coal that Santa gives to naughty children is a metaphor for their hearts. Their hearts are black and cold, and they are not very comfortable to be around due to that. But if you just ‘ignite’ their hearts, it will be glowing with warmth, and they will be more comfortable to be around due to that.
