TLK: Weird Hills
So far, so good.
Nala had been able to evade the hyenas guarding the borders just because a random stampede of the few herds left in The Pridelands happened in front of the scavengers. Even if they were as thin as her, a bunch of herbivores were clearly more appetizing than a lioness trying to escape.
Not that she envied them. It worked for her and her mission to get help.
Nala just needed to get past the last secure point and she would be out of The Pridelands. She would be out of her home, for the first time in her life.
It scared her.
"Who goes there?"
Nala halted. No other animal should have been in this place. It was only used when the lionesses needed to give birth and it had been several moons ago that a cub was born in the once lushed kingdom.
When the creature whose voice belonged let herself shown in front of her, Nala finally recognized her.
"Zira." The stripped lioness had been a recent adition to the pride. Her and her sister had come asking for help, looking for a place to rest since both of them were pregnant. Nala berated herself internally for not remembering them.
"...You." Zira said. It was clear she didn't recognize Nala. Or didn't care enough to remember her name. "You are part of Scar's lionesses, aren't you? Did he send you here to check on us?"
Nala didn't like being referred as to Scar's possesion.
Zira squinted her eyes, noticing her hesitation. She changed her position, putting her body between Nala and the way past the lands. It was clear that she wanted answers.
Nala sighed. There was no hurt in telling Zira what she was going to do, it was going to benefit everyone in the end.
"Look,I don't want trouble." Nala started, "I just need to get past by. I'm going to get us help."
"Help?" Zira replied. "Help for what. We are all good here."
'Was she kidding?'
"I...Zira, we need help. There is no food left-"
"It's the dry season, that's normal."
Nala gritted her teeth. "Not here. Not since Scar became the King."
"So what? It's not our job- your job, to look for help. That's the King's job."
"And he is not doing it."
"Says who?" Zira began to approach Nala slowly. "Scar told me he already asked for help, but the other kingdoms rejected his pleas, his ideas for peace. The he was called a Mad King, but, despite it, he was ready to accept the outcasted, like me and my sister."
Lies, Nala thought. There were all lies to get someone on Scar's side. He was desperate since even his hyenas were starting to murmur against him. More reasons for her to leave inmediately.
"Are you planning a coup?"
Before Nala could reply, Zira jumped at her, grabbing her head and bringing it closer to her teeth.
"Listen here, you ungrateful wench," a stench left Zira's mouth, warm and dangerous, "Scar promised my sister and I a good life, a home, a place for our cubs to grow up protected, and that, one day, they are all going to become a special Guard. You and your delusions are not going to interfer with what I finally deserve, you hear me, cub?"
Maybe it was the condescending way Zira spoke to her. Maybe it was a hidden instinct, after all the seasons of her mother overprotectiveness, after having to be the "grown up" of her friends — friends who were not with her anymore. One moment Zira's teeth were next to Nala's face, the next, it was her teeth on the other lioness. Nala knew that she aimed for the neck, but her own conscious made her go to something less mortal. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if she killed a soon to be mother.
Zira's screams would certainly alert the hyenas and Scar, but she didn't care. She didn't care for the blood of another pride member on her teeth, for the curses that Zira was throwing at her.
Finally, the horizon didn't seem so gray anymore.
-----------
I had this idea about Zira being a last obstacle and that she became Scar's "Queen" (even if just by title) by telling him about Nala's escape. Him first promising Zira to make her cubs part of a Guard it's my hc on how Zira knew about The Lion Guard.

If I stick with illya as my main rook, I’m gonna have to do some work on just how she feels about her family because ‘elf adopted by humans prominent in the military of a nation that enslaves her people but who treated her well and are quietly abolitionists but also kept her home/allowed people to assume she was a servant’ is one hell of a dynamic
#veilguard#the shadow dragon background is just kinda nutty#i assume the devs were trying to avoid the former slave narrative#especially since they largley avoided slavery as a topic and conflict#but an elven rook is in a weird ass social position#like. as a mage she probably had private tutors both because her family could afford it AND because it would be dangerous as hell#for her to be in the Circle#her family loves her but won’t actually own her as a full member of the family#maybe because it makes them less able to protect her or because it would be bad for them generally#or both at once#maybe gen. mercar can’t help the resistance as much if he’s looked down on for his adoptive daughter#but also. that’s your fucking daughter why aren’t you defending her?#what a wild existence

“I cannot believe you would let her waltz into our home like that! She’s putting all of us in danger!”
In less than two days, you were sat outside a study as a heated argument about you took place behind closed doors. It was merely a coincidence that it was within the same family.
After Jace had stormed into the council room, meeting you with open hostility, Rhaenerya had asked you to give them some privacy. You had barely left the room before Jace had started spitting ill words about you.
“She saved me, Jace!”
“What if this is some plot for her to put herself in our midst and feed information back to King’s Landing?”
“Was she not residing in Oldtown with Daeron ever since we left for Dragonstone? It is doubtful she has been let in on the plans to usurp the throne.”
Jace let out a frustrated groan and it was silent for a few moments before Rhaenyra spoke again.
“It seems to me you have a different issue with her… Is it because you have feelings for her?”
Your breath stocked in your throat, your hand stilling against the door. Jace’s behavior towards you confused you deeply. It seemed like he harbored resentment, but you weren’t sure when it had started, when you had suddenly become a traitor in his eyes, instead of a friend.
“Don’t be ridiculous, mother.”
The way Jace scoffed hurt you more than ten daggers in your back, and you pressed your lips together, refusing to let the words of a man affect you.
“I only wish to protect you.”
Swallowing thickly, your hands balled into fists and you jumped back when the door suddenly opened, a knight gesturing for you to step in.
Hesitantly, you entered the room, the tensions still high and you looked at Jace, but he refused to meet your eyes, turning his head away.
Rhaenyra on the other hand stepped up you, taking your hand in hers, cradling it gently.
“I will never be able to repay the debt,” she said in a soft voice, her eyes warm. “You saved my son, even though you weren’t obligated to do it. For that, I will offer you a place here, at Dragonstone, and a place in my council, if you wish to take it.”
“Mother!-“
Rhaenyra ignored Jace’s protest, her voice unwavering. “I believe your insight into our enemies will give us an advantage to win this war.”
“I do not wish to cause a drift between you,” you said honestly. “If Jace does not wish for me to stay-“
“It is not his place,” Rhaenyra said and Jace only scoffed. You fought the urge to glare at him, you didn’t want to antagonize him even further.
“Thank you, your Grace,” you said, lowering your head. “I would very much like to stay.”
Frankly, you wouldn’t know where to go, had Rhaenyra not offered for you to stay, you weren’t sure what expected you, would you return to King’s Landing; it surely wouldn’t go over well.
“And the seat on the council?”
You pressed your lips together. It was an honor, an offer like that, but you could tell Jace wanted you to say no with the way he was looking at you when he thought you wouldn’t notice.
“May I think about it?”
“Of course,” Rhaenyra said, squeezing your hand. “Ser Lorent, escort the Lady to her chambers. I think the ones in the West Wing will be fitting.”
Ser Lorent bowed, before gesturing his arm out to you. “My Lady, if you please follow me.”
You bowed your head to Rhaenyra, turning to leave, but just before you stepped over the threshold of the room, you glanced back. Luke gave you a small smile, but Jace had turned his back to you again. You tried not to let it go to your head, but your mind was racing with questions after Ser Lorent had dropped you off in your chambers.
The sun was shining through the windows when you awoke the next day. You had chosen to take supper in your chambers the night before, trying to give Jace some space. There had been no maid to wake you, so it must still be early. A loud clang of swords floated up from outside and you wrapped a robe around your shoulders as you got out of the bed, glancing out the window.
It turned out that your chambers laid directly above the training grounds, where Jace and Luke were currently in the middle of training. It was nice to see Jace without a scowl on his face for a change, and you took the opportunity to look at him.
He had grown into a very fine Prince, his hair long, curling around his face, his cheekbones high. You had always known he’d grow up to be very handsome. It was hard to imagine he’s the same boy who had told you to write to him every day.
Now, he hadn’t spoken to you a single word after his agitated discussion with his mother.
“Lift your sword up higher when you are in offense, but when someone is advancing on you, make sure to defend the lower part of yourself as well.”
Luke sighed, dropping the point of his sword on the ground, wiping his forehead with the sleeve of his tunic. “We have been training since the sun has risen, can we go break fast now?”
“No, you need this.”
“What am I to do with a sword when Aemond descends upon me with Vhagar? Slash at her wings? Luke scoffed. “I’m not lacking in swordsmanship.”
You pressed yourself against the window as Jace laid a hand on his younger brother’s shoulder, lending him comfort similar in a way you have done with Daeron.
“It will not happen again, Luke. I will make sure Aemond will not get the chance to get near you again.”
Jace let out a breath, his face pained, you could even see it from a distance.
“It was foolish of me to suggest we go deliver the messages,” Jace sighed. “I should’ve gone with you, you had no protection. I never would have forgiven myself if something had happened to you.”
“Jace…” Luke looked at his brother, his forehead creased. “It wasn’t your fault. Our uncle behaved himself with no honor.”
“I should have expected that.” Jace smiled at him wryly. “You were lucky to escape Vhagar when you did.”
“I wasn’t lucky, I had help.”
Jace let out a loud sigh, giving Luke a squeeze on the shoulder.
“Let us go break fast, then.”
“Oh so now you want to end training,” Luke nagged, resheating his sword. “Because I mentioned Lady-“
“Do not speak her name to me,” Jace snapped, stopping Luke in the middle of his sentence.
Luke only sighed at his older brother.
“Jace… None of this is her doing. You cannot-“
A knock on your door quickly made you push away from the window, your cheeks red, almost having been caught eavesdropping.
The two young women standing in front of your chambers gave you a friendly smile, their hair - already twisted in intricate fashion despite the early hour - immediately told you of their parentage.
“You must be Baela and Rhaena.”
One of them, you assumed Baela, as she was wearing riding gear and last you had heard, Rhaena had yet to claim a dragon, inclined her head in yes. You gave them a smile.
“It is a pleasure to meet you. I’m-“
“Oh we have heard all about you.”
Rhaena gave Baela a jab in the side, glaring at her sister and even though Baela had fallen into your word, it did not seem like she had done it in chargrin, as she had a friendly look on her face.
“We were about to break fast. Her Grace asked us to extend the invitation to you,” Rhaena said and you nodded.
“Thank you. Let me get dressed and I will meet you in the dining hall.”
After getting dressed and making yourself presentable, you made your way to the dining hall. Well, you tried, at least. The keep was much bigger than you had anticipated. Finally you rounded the corner, thinking you had reached the dining hall, but instead you were standing in a hallway that split into three more hallways.
“I could have sworn this was the way to the dining hall,” you muttered to yourself, looking around in confusion, when someone called your name.
“… Are you lost?”
Luke stepped out of his chambers, lingering in the doorway. He must have gotten changed after training in the pit, his doublet a little askew as he walked towards you.
“I was exploring the keep.”
Luke gave you a suspicious look, a grin growing on his face.
“How long have you been wandering around?”
“Why do you assume I wasn’t waiting for you to walk me to the dining hall?”
Luke laughed, offering you his arm, which you accepted gratefully as the two of you walked together. You found it was easy to converse with Luke, he was telling you about Arrax and how he has been faring ever since you got back, and that he wished for some more meat instead of fish. His cheeky grin reminded you a lot of Daeron when he was pulling one of his jests on his uncle. It was nice, to have something to remind you of home in a place that felt so unfamiliar.
“And here we are, at the dining hall,” Luke announced as you stepped into a completely different hallway, the large doors to the dining hall open.
“I never would have found my own way here,” you admitted and Luke laughed.
“I know.”
Judging by the sound of easy conversation coming out of the hall, you were the last to arrive. You were hesitant, unwilling to cause any tension but Luke tugged on your arm, sensing your discomfort.
“Come. You shall sit with me.”
You relented, following the young boy inside. The conversation at the table ceased as you entered, everyone bidding you a good morrow. Well, almost everyone.
“Have you slept well?” Rhaenyra asked as you sat down next to Luke. You nodded, giving her a smile.
“Yes, thank you. I am very grateful that you have offered for me to stay. And for the clothes, of course.“
Next to Rhaenyra, her lord husband Daemon only gave you a subdued smirk.
“It appears we are the ones who have to offer our thanks,” he said, his fingers circling the brim of his cup. “You acted when it was easier to do nothing. You showed true courage.”
“Please,” you said, nearly melting into your seat out of embarrassment. “I did what was right.”
You ignored how Jace visibly rolled his eyes, turning his head as he took a sip from his cup. He seemed incredibly displeased by this all.
“You should have seen her,” Luke said, nodding fervently. “She leapt from Vhagar to Arrax just above the clouds like it was a small jump over a beck.”
“That sounds terrifying,” Rhaena said and you nodded.
“It was. I truly do not know what came over me in that instant.”
“Sometimes we don’t know how brave we are until the moment asks for it,” Rhaenyra said with an encouraging smile and you nodded, your cheeks red. Thankfully this scene of praising you was interrupted by the servants starting to serve food.
“You have been living most of your recent name days in Oldtown, is that right?” Baela asked curiously, leaning towards you.
“Yes, Alicent sent Daeron to Oldtown and asked me to accompany him to make the distance from home easier.”
You have always thought it cruel of Alicent to send Daeron away from his family, his siblings. But now you wondered if Daeron was better off for it.
“It was really different from King’s Landing. The grandmaesters were incredibly wise and I have learned a lot from the them,” you told her, a smile on your face. “Daeron of course always dragged his feet, but I knew he enjoyed it as well.”
“How old is Daeron now?” Luke asked, swallowing his food.
“Eight and ten,” you answered. “Not quite a man just yet, even if he believes otherwise.”
The family laughed, and even Jacaerys cracked a smile, though it seemed more unkind than the rest.
“That seems to be running on his side of the family, no?” he asked, taking a sip from his cup. His voice was so cutting, and the light mood seemed to dissipate at once. “Aegon, Aemond, none of them display characteristics of a what a real man is… I wonder if Daeron turned out any better than his usurping and kinslaying brothers, though I-“
Before Jace could continue, you slammed both of your hands on the table as you stood, the tableware clattering. The table grew quiet, the tension thick as everyone laid their eyes on you, but you paid them no mind, your focus on Jace as you glared at him, and he seemed surprised at your outburst.
“Please excuse me,” you pressed out, eyes gleaming with anger. You barely waited for Rhaenyra to excuse you as you left the table, your food still untouched on your place.
As you hasten out of the dining room, you could hear Rhaenyra raising her voice.
“-unacceptable behavior!”
“Why are you all rushing to her defense? Or Daeron’s? She’s just being sensitive!”
“I have lived with you about as long as she has with Daeron,” Rhaena argued. “Would you not come to my defense if someone spoke ill about me?”
You didn’t wait to hear Jace’s answer rushing past the Queensguard that was standing by the door. By some miracle, you easily found your way back to your chambers, the heavy door falling shut as you threw yourself on the bed, letting out a scream of frustration.
You were at a loss.
Jace seemed to use every opportunity to antagonize you, treating you like an enemy instead of a friend he had grown up with. You were no damsel in distress who couldn’t handle tough words, but it was to hard to hear them from someone you harbored feelings for.
You wished you could talk to someone about this. You wished you could talk to Daeron about this. A part of you longed for the days when you were in Oldtown, before any of this occurred.
A knock brought you out of your thoughts and you lifted your head from the cushions, frowning.
“I wish to be alone for a little longer,” you called out. It was probably a handmaiden Rhaenyra had sent to check up on you. You hoped she would respect your wishes, but the knocking didn’t cease and with a small sigh, you pulled yourself up, heading to the door.
“I am sorry, I-“ you pulled the door open, but to your surprise, you came face to face with the source of your sorrows.
“Jace,” you spoke, voice even, crossing your arms over your chest. “Have you come to throw some more insults? Maybe some at me this time?”
Jace clenched his jaw, his hand on the goddamned sword again. Was he itching to take your head off so badly?
“I have been told that my behavior this morning was unbefitting for a Prince,” he ground out, the words like gravel in his mouth. “I’m here to extend an apology.”
You bit back a scoff, rolling your eyes. “Fine. Go ahead, then.”
He guffawed at your words.
“If you are going to be like this, I am not sure it makes much sense for me to apologize,” Jace said haughtily and you snorted.
“If I were to believe that a single word of your apology were genuine, I would readily accept it.”
Jace only scoffed, shaking his head but not denying your accusation. His nostrils were flared and you searched for his eyes, but he refused to meet your gaze. Exhaling softly, trying to let go of your anger, you uncrossed your arms, letting them fall to your sides.
“Why are you so angry?”
Suddenly, Jace’s eyes snapped up to yours, his lips parted in disbelief.
“My mother’s claim to the throne has been stolen by her usurper brother, my uncle! Whereas my other uncle tried to murder Luke, and you ask why I’m angry?”
You let out a small sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“Forgive me, I should have been more clear. Let me rephrase,” you said. “Why are you angry with me?”
Jace took a step back, surprised by your question.
“You treat me like I myself have usurped the throne, Jace.”
You looked at Jace expectantly; his mouth opening, like he wanted to say something, before he closed it again, his words unspoken. Before you could demand an answer, hurried steps came down the hallway, Ser Lorent appearing, stopping next to your chambers. Jace seemed relieved at the distraction as the knight inclined his head at him.
“My Prince, the Queen has requested your presence for the council meeting.”
Jace nodded, giving you one last glance before stepping towards Ser Lorent, expecting him to leave right away, but Ser Lorent turned his eyes on you.
“You as well, my Lady.”
Jace let out a scoff and turned on his heel without waiting.
“Unbelievable,” he muttered under his breath as he stalked away. You sighed, glancing at Ser Lorent but he only extended his hand in silent invitation, leaving you no choice but to go with him.
The painted table in the council room was already fully seated, save for one empty space, two seats down from Jace. Most of the council consisted of lords of various houses, who eyed you sceptically as you took your seat next to Baela.
“What is a girl like her doing at a council meeting?” The Lord sat across from you asked, clear disdain on his face. You only stared back at him, not knowing how to answer yourself, but disliking his tone towards you only for the fact that you were not a man.
“This girl,” Jace replied, and you already resigned to another slight at you, “Has saved my brother up thousand feet on the air with no training. What have you achieved for my mother, Lord Bartimos?”
Lord Bartimos only let out an aggrieved sigh as he leaned back in his seat, while you turned to Jace with a surprised look on your face. He didn’t meet your eyes. Luke on the other hand, was ducking his head to hide a grin, failing miserably.
“She can offer us insights into the plan of the usurpers,” Rhaenyra said, effectively stopping any more arguments. “I hope we can avoid any bloodshed.”
“Avoid?” Daemon asked, leaning forward with a crease in his forehead. “They blatantly attacked a messenger after you wished for some time to think about their offer.”
“Daemon is right.”
Jace’s voice was strong as he agreed with Daemon, his shoulders tight.
“This is not the time to sit back and watch their plans unfold. We have come too close to unimaginable tragedy.”
Jace’s eyes flickered to his younger brother, before he turned to look to his mother. “We need to fight back.”
Rhaenyra opened her mouth, seemingly to disagree with her eldest son, but a commotion outside caught everyone’s attention.
“Dragon!”
“It’s a dragon with a rider!”
Everyone at the table looked at each other, unsure of what was happening when a knight from the watch outside came storming into the room.
“Your Grace!” he called, bowing quickly. “There has been a dragon sighted with a rider, he’s headed straight for Dragonstone.”
Rhaenyra’s forehead creased in concern.
“Do we know who it is?”
“No, your Grace.”
Rhaenyra stood, her strides quick as she walked outside, the rest of you were not too far behind her. Outside, the folks were rushing in, trying to get to safety from an imminent attack from the dragon.
“I will mount Moondancer,” Baela said, already turning on her heel but Rhaenyra stopped her, shaking her head.
“No. We do not know his intention yet, another dragon might provoke him into attacking.”
You lifted your eyes to the sky, sight blinded by the sun for the first few moments. The dragon’s movements seemed familiar to you, and as your vision adjusted, you let out a laughter, relief coursing through you.
“That’s Tessarion!” you exlaimed, turning to Rhaenyra with a smile. “It’s Daeron!”
You broke out in a run, skirt of your dress lifted as you skidded down the stoney hill, ignoring how Jacaerys was yelling after you to wait.
Tessarion landed on the green grass, stretching her orange-blue wings, as Daeron slid off his saddle, feet on solid ground again. He oriented himself looking around, before relief took over his face when he saw you.
“Sister!”
“Daeron!”
You fell around his arms like countless times before and he held you so tightly, you were afraid he’d never let you go.
“You promised,” he whispered into your neck in a choked voice. “You promised you wouldn’t abandon me.”
“I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry,” you mumbled, squeezing Daeron. You didn’t let go of him until his hold on you lessened, knowing he needed to realize that you were, and not gone. Pushing his hair out of his face, you gave him a watery smile.
“How did you know I was here?”
“Brother.”
Rhaenyra’s voice brought you back to reality, as the both of you stood straight, Rhaenyra’s face null of emotion. Jace was furious, his eyes flitting between you and Daeron continuously, while Daemon stood behind Rhaenyra.
“Are you here to deliver a message from the false King that is your brother?”
“I am not a messenger,” Daeron said, his voiced heated. “And as I recall he’s your brother as well.”
His tone is starting to border on disrespect so you glanced over to him, your eyebrows creased. Daeron let out a small sigh.
“I hold no loyalty to my brother,” he added, his voice softer. “Nor am I here to deliver any messages.”
“Then what is your purpose of being here?”
“I’m here because she is,” Daeron answered simply, squeezing your hand. “She has been more kin to me than either Aegon or Aemond. I want to stay on Dragonstone, if you allow it. Fight alongside you.”
“Are we offering shelter for anyone who comes here now?”
Jace’s voice was directed at Rhaenyra, but Daeron narrowed his eyes at him.
“What happened to him?” he muttered to you under his breath. “I do not recall him being this miserable.”
“Daeron!” you hissed, the corners of your mouth tugging up anyways. Jace scoffed, taking a step forward, only to be stopped by Rhaenyra.
“If you are willing to trust me, you have to trust Daeron,” you said, looking at Rhaenyra. You understood that she was wary, she and Daeron barely spent any time together, he was a stranger to her. But you hoped that her trust in you was only half as strong as your trust in Daeron. “If anything, it adds another dragon on your side.”
Rhaenyra regarded you with a impressed smile, giving a small nod.
“Very well. You might stay, Daeron,” she said; behind her, Jacaerys and Daemon exchanged a look, neither of them happy about her decision. “However, I wish to speak with you, alone.”
Daeron nodded, and you squeezed his hand as you followed Rhaenyra back inside the keep, trying not to let Jace’s piercing eyes on you bother you.
“I think it odd. Seeing Rhaenyra again after all this time. My sister.”
You were sitting out in the grass, Daeron’s head in your lap as he talked. He had spent the last two hours in the council room speaking to Rhaenyra. You weren’t sure what exactly they had talked about, but when they both came out, they seemed calm, almost peaceful. You didn’t pry, knowing that Daeron would share whatever he felt comfortable with.
“Does she feel like kin to you?” you asked, knowing how distant Rhaenyra was to Alicent’s children, even when they were younger.
Daeron shrugged, ripping up a blade of grass with his hand.
“She was polite enough. She knows what advantage she has having me on her side. I cannot see us become closer,” he said. “Like us.”
Daeron peered up at you with a grin and you rolled your eyes. Something was still nagging at you, and you knew it wouldn’t leave your head until you had answers
“What happened when Aemond got back? How did you know I was here?”
Daeron’s smile dimmed a little and he looked away, his eyes focusing on the blue sky above you.
“I was already searching for you by the time Aemond returned. I could tell by the look on his face that something had happened, so he told me that he had been out in Storm’s End to secure pledges for Aegon, and that you had come with. Luke had arrived just shortly after Aemond had negotiated with Lord Borros and he got angry, starting a fight, bringing up what had happened at Driftmark.”
Your brows furrowed. You had suspected that Aemond wouldn’t tell the truth, but blaming Lucerys for his bad temper? Anything to paint you as the villain.
“Aemond said you took Luke’s side, your feelings for Jace swaying you.”
Your cheeks reddened. You hadn’t realized that your affections for Jace were so apparent that Aemond would take notice. Daeron continued, unperturbed.
“- and that was when Aemond returned to King’s Landing.”
“That’s not-“
Before you could finish, Daeron interrupted you, his eyes finding yours again.
“I know, Rhaenyra told me what truly happened.”
“But did you really believe what Aemond had told you? That I would just go with Luke because of an argument, leave you?”
Daeron shrugged with his shoulders, his eyes downcast.
“I did not want to. But what was I supposed to do? Call Aemond a liar? I don’t think that would have gone well,” he argued. “I did not have choice but to accept his truth as mine.”
“Then why did you come here if you thought me a traitor?”
Stilling, Daeron pressed his lips together.
“Helaena… She was behaving peculiar… I was sitting with her in the day room, watching Jahaerys and Jahaera play, and all she kept saying was “To save her brother, you must trust your sister” while looking between me and Jahaera,” he told you and you frowned.
To save her brother, you must trust your sister?
“What does that mean?”
“I am not quite sure,” Daeron said, shaking his head. “But I knew it must mean that Aemond was not telling the truth, that you had left because of something else.”
You bit back a smile; it amused you how Daeron did not hesitate to think of you when someone mentioned his sister, but hummed in thought, unsatisfied with his words.
“What if she did not mean me? What if she was talking about Rhaenyra?”
The sound of footsteps crunching on the gravel leading up to the small cliff made the two of you paused. You both looked up just to see Jace arrive to the top, stopping at the edge of the field stiffly. Daeron propped himself up on his elbows, glancing to you, then back to Jace slowly before he got to his feet, dusting off his clothes.
“I should go to the dragon mount. See how Tessarion is faring.”
You knew exactly what he was trying to do and you shook your head quickly, pulling yourself up.
“Daeron…!” you almost shouted, but the young Prince already departed. As he passed Jace, the older gave him an almost imperceptible nod, before Daeron disappeared down the hill. You let out a small frustrated huff, your eyes flickering to Jace before you turned away again. His steps were careful as he came closer, and you wrapped your arms around yourself, not looking at him as he came to a stop next to you.
You were the first to speak.
“I am surprised you didn’t call Daeron a traitor as he passed you.”
In hindsight, you could have chosen less biting words. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Jace clench his jaw.
“I wouldn’t.”
“Don’t patronize me.”
“I am not!” Jace sighed. “I did not come to argue with you.”
“Then what have you come for?”
Jace fell silent again and you shook your head in exasperation. It was hard for you to read him; he seemingly had made it a habit to guard his emotions. When Jace finally spoke again, his words surprised you.
“I always envied him.”
“What?”
“Daeron,” he clarified. “When you wrote to me that you were to be sent to Oldtown with Daeron, I was furious. I begged mother to let you come with us, but she said it would be seen as disrespectful towards Alicent. She wanted to avoid a fight.” Jace scoffed, shaking his head. “The irony does not escape me.”
He paused, his gaze on the horizon. Two dragons had made their way out of the dragon mount, flying in the sky, stretching their wings. One, you were able to recognize as Vermax, with his orange green scales. He had grown exponentially since the last time you saw him. The other dragon was unfamiliar to you, but the dragons seemed to have a bond as they flew around each other playfully. You took your eyes off of the dragons to look at Jace. He was already looking at you, his cheeks pink.
“I looked forward to your letters every day,” Jace admitted, ducking his head. “… It eased my longing, if only slightly.”
Your lips pursed into a pleased smile.
“You longed for me?” you teased.
“Did you not long for me?” he asked quite bluntly, his eyes searching yours. “Or was what you had enough for you?”
Letting out a small huff, you shook your head, knowing what he was insinuating; the same thing that Aemond had hinted at only a few days prior.
“Daeron and I are like brother and sister, I do not long for him in any way than you do for Luke.”
Jace nodded, his smile delighted. But you let out a sigh, wringing your hands.
“If you truly felt like this… Why have you treated me so horribly ever since I’ve been here? Why have you stopped replying to my letters?”
“It’s not…” Jace trailed off, pulling his face into a frown. “After we received the news of my grandsire’s passing, mother has been on edge, preparing for war. We all have. And I felt guilty, I didn’t want to be distracted by anything, and whenever one of your letters arrived, I couldn’t get my mind on anything else than sitting down to write back to you. So I just… Stopped answering. And I thought I could write to you when all of this is over, but then you were suddenly… Here.”
Jace broke off, pressing his lips together. “You were supposed to stay in Oldtown, far away from the war that is brewing. Now you quite literally launched yourself right into the middle of it all. I thought it incredulous that you would just show up and save my brother… Like in a dream.”
Your chest ached. You had not realized how worried Jace was for you.
“But you thought I was spying for information,” you reminded him.
“I didn’t really believe you would be capable of doing so… But I couldn’t let my feelings cloud my judgement. Mother counts on me, and as her heir, I have to fulfill my duties.”
Biting your lip, you nodded, your chin low. While you understood why Jace had been behaving the way he was, it still hurt to be treated that way.
“I dislike causing you anguish,” he said quietly. “Can you find it in yourself to forgive me?”
“The way to forgiveness may not be easy,” you warned him, a small smile on your face. “I am not known for being very forgiving.”
“Then it will be so much more rewarding,” Jace quipped, smiling at you.
The both of you fell into a comfortable silence, staring out in the distance, the dragons dancing in the sky. You almost flinched when you felt Jace hesitantly reach for your hand; it was the first time he let go of the hilt of his sword since you got to Dragonstone. Swallowing nervously, you laced your fingers with his, feeling the tension bleed away from his limbs. For a while, you just stood there, hand in hand, lending each other comfort in the silence. A silence Jace soon broke.
“Do you want to go for a ride on Vermax?”
Your eyes lit up at the sudden invitation, but you held your excitement at bay, not wanting to seem too eager. Seeing Jace’s face however, it told you that you better work on masking your emotions. While the imminent war brewing in the near future scares you, you didn’t want to forego small moments of happiness, you were sure the war held plenty of misery and frustration. You would enjoy every single smile you could shed.
“I’d love to.”

Capitol Loss
Summary: Set in the Moves & Countermoves Universe. Years after the rebellion, Y/N and Haymitch’s son is off to study in the Capitol, where he discovers the true cost of being a victor. Discussions of trauma and forced prostitution, proceed with caution.
“My name is Everest Abernathy, born and raised in the Victors’ Village of district twelve. Everyone says I look like my dad…I don’t really see it though.”
The joke lands as it always does, with genuine laughter and whispers. His classmates know he’s Haymitch’s son, even without the introduction. He doesn’t mind of course, he loves his dad, but people always kind of expect him to behave like his father too.
“Alright, fine.” Everest holds up his hands, “you caught me, I was born in the Capitol. But I was raised in Victors’ Village.”
Growing up, when the cameras would come, that was the gig. People would eat it up. And Everest would indulge them. It wasn’t until long after the rebellion that Everest had the freedom to discover who he was.
His parents, ever supportive, were more than willing to help their firstborn child pack up and board a train to a place that had never been kind to them. Because they love him that much. And that love is not lost on him.
When the professor asks him to stay after class, Everest is more than happy to. But he needs to make one thing clear.
“I don’t want any special treatment or anything. I’m here to learn. Panem is still rebuilding itself, I want to do my part.”
“Of course, my boy. I think it’s incredibly brave of you to be here. Away from your family for the very first time, driven by a sense of justice! Your parents must be so proud.”
“They would’ve been just as proud if I stayed in twelve to trade in the square.” His parents were always proud of him. As though he and his siblings were some sort of miracle, created by their love for each other. And they are still disgustingly in love. “But I think it’s our duty now, to make sure we continue moving forward and never back.”
The professor nods, “I do hope that our unit covering the lives of victors, leading up to the uprising, is a solid representation of all you endured during childhood.”
Endured? His childhood was a great many things, but by no stretch of the imagination was it something he had to ‘endure.’ Everest clears his throat, “I mean yeah, it was weird. Growing up with cameras in my face and a bunch of strangers in crazy outfits who would scream and burst into tears at the sight of me. But I think, my mom especially, would do little things to make sure that me and Arista were never scared. Not to say my dad didn’t, I think he was just trying to keep us alive, more or less.” He shrugs.
“It sounds like you have a very good head on your shoulders. After all, you are right around the age your mother was when she married your father.”
Everest’s jaw clenches, he knows his mother is younger than his father. Everyone does. “Love makes us do the darnedest things.”
“That was always interesting to me, the way trauma could create such strong affection.” The professor nods. “But I suppose between the arrangement of marriage to spare her from the Capitol, only to be forced to exploit themselves again and again…”
What?
“That would bond two people together in a way we’ll never be able to understand.”
Everest nods, skin crawling, imploring the man to continue.
It’s not until the professor presents his parent’s wedding portrait that the contents of Everest’s stomach empty themselves onto the floor. This image does not reside on the walls of his childhood home, where his father has them all hung proudly.
My mom, no older than I am now.
My mom, held so tightly to my father’s side it must have hurt.
My mom, smiling her best Capitol smile.
And my dad…protecting the only living person he loved.
————————————————————————
There is a knock at Everest’s door sometime later. Hours, maybe days. He can’t bring himself to answer it. “Go away!”
“No can do, I made a promise to your parents.”
Not Cashmere or Finnick, maybe he’s safe.
“Look, my parents made a lotta deals with a lotta people. You are not special, I promise.”
“Professor Smith said you asked him not to contact your parents. But as you’ve missed two straight days of class, I’m legally required to.”
Everest groans, rising to his feet and swinging open the door. “What do you want, Heavensbee?”
“To talk to you.” Plutarch explains. “Give you a chance to vent.”
“You’re Capitol, why do you care?” You let it happen.
“When I met your dad he was only a couple years younger than you are now.”
“And let me guess, I look just like him?” The boy scoffs.
“Yes and no,” Plutarch smiles. “I see your mom.”
“If you’re looking for an in, you won’t find one.”
“The first time I met Y/N, she told me she didn’t give a shit about winning the game, because she wanted to break the board.” Plutarch explains, “you’re a lot alike in that way.”
“Alright,” I’ll bite. Everest opens the door wide enough for the older man to enter, closing it behind them. “If you’re the expert, why don’t you explain what happened?”
“They couldn’t just let the boy who almost broke the board marry the girl who wanted to break it, and live happily ever after.” Plutarch lifts a shoulder, “Snow had to beat it out of them somehow.”
“How?”
“Started with Haymitch, took out his family, including his girlfriend back home, left him with nothing. He started drinking to cope.”
“I know that.” Everest swallows.
“During Y/N’s post games interview she suggested that the hunger games were unnecessary and should stop.”
“I know that too.”
“Haymitch made a deal with President Snow to keep the same thing from happening to Y/N. Did you know that?” Plutarch arches a brow.
“What kind of deal?” Everest demands.
“Some of the victors would be sold to higher ups in the Capitol. Haymitch agreed, in exchange for your mother’s safety and her family’s.”
“Why did he have to marry her?” That’s the part that doesn’t make sense.
“As you said, your parents made a lot of deals, this one protected her from being sold directly to anyone. Marriage between victors is relatively uncommon, there was curiosity. I have no idea the exact numbers, but I do know that their footage was the highest grossing victor profit ever made.”
“How many victors did he sell?”
“Again, I don’t know the exact number. That was far from my department; but to answer your question, too many.”
Again, his stomach churns. “So me and Arista were just accidents?”
“Have you ever heard the idle hands theory?”
“What the fuck is that?” Everest demands, pacing in the space between his bed and desk.
“Easy,” Plutarch holds up his hands, “if this is too much for you-”
“Sorry,” Everest runs a hand over his face, “I’m sorry.” To go from knowing nothing, to knowing everything... “Please, continue.”
“A child would occupy their time and their minds. Serve as a means to make them more complicit. You were their pride and joy. You were the Capitol’s too.”
Everest sucks in a breath.
“You got a little older, idle hands need filling.”
“Arista.” Everest whispers.
“A ‘little Y/N’ to solve all of Snow’s problems.” Plutarch smirks, “if I didn’t know any better I’d think he was…content with your parents, for a time.”
“Why Daisy?” Their hands were full.
Plutarch hangs his head. “You were ten, going on eleven. Close to reaping age and there was a Quarter Quell right around the corner, pair that with Peeta and Katniss’ stunt with the berries and-”
“They were gonna run.” It makes sense, in all its horrible entirety.
“Everyone knew it. Especially Snow.” Plutarch confirms. “Fastest way to ground a flight risk is to cut their wings.”
Is that why my dad calls her an angel?
“That’s the hard stuff and the most important.” Plutarch assures him, “I don’t expect us to be friends now, Everest. But if you’re going to learn the truth about your parent’s lives here, I’d rather it be from someone who cares about them. Not some stranger who knows them as pages in a book.”
“Are you gonna tell them?” Everest wonders, “my parents?”
“No,” Plutarch shakes his head, “that’s your conversation to have not mine.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want to take anything else from you.” The Abernathys have given enough.
————————————————————————
Weeks pass and while Everest hasn’t been accepting any calls, there is one person he doesn’t have the heart to ignore.
He hits the button, sluggishly. “Hey, Arista.”
“Hey, how are you?”
“I’m good.” Everest lies.
“Hang on, let me get mom and dad.”
“Arista, wait.” Everest protests, “how are they?”
“Mom and dad?” Arista lifts a brow, “they’re mom and dad.”
“Dad’s feeling better?”
“Yeah.” The girl whispers, “his liver’s pretty beat up though. They’re discussing options with a doctor in the Capitol, but don’t tell them I told you that.”
“They told you and not me?” Everest scoffs.
“They didn’t tell me anything, you know how they are.” Arista says, “I overheard them talking about leaving us with Aunt Madge for a couple weeks for the treatment.”
“How are Daisy and Auggie?”
“August has been giving everyone a run for their money, now that Daisy’s mellowed out.”
“That’s good.”
“You sound upset.” Arista sighs.
“It’s just….school’s been a lot.”
“Come home then, loser.” Arista laughs, “we miss you.”
Does he want to go home? Can he? “First semester ends in a week, I’ll come home for break.”
“Cool,” Arista smiles, “see you soon.”
“Tell everyone I said hi and that I love them.”
“Will do.”
“Love you, Arista.”
“Love you too.” Arista ends the call, flopping back into the couch and glaring up at the ceiling.
Everest is the only one of her siblings to understand what it was to be doted on by the Capitol, like a prized show horse. He never lies to her, never hides anything from her. If he’s lying now…it must be something awful.
“Who was that?” Y/N asks, popping her head around the corner.
“Just Everest,” Arista huffs. “He’s coming home for semester break.”
Y/N nods, “that’s great.”
“I think he must be homesick or something. But he said hi and that he loves you.”
At this her mother smiles, “do you want to help with dinner? We’re making a roast.”
“I guess.” Arista pulls herself to her feet. “Give me a minute to wash up.”
Haymitch clicks his tongue at her. “Don’t tell me you’re turning into a teenager.”
“I’ve been a teenager, Dad.”
Haymitch clutches his heart, “she stabbed me.”
Y/N chuckles, pressing her lips to his. “You’ll live.”
Arista rolls her eyes. “Stop making out or I won’t help you.”
————————————————————————
When Cashmere gets a call from Plutarch, who she hasn’t spoken to in years, she knows that something is amiss. She’s right of course. One of Everest’s teachers ran his mouth about the Capitol’s deep dark secret. Their love of exploiting victors.
“Did you call his parents?” Cashmere exhales.
“He’s asked us not to.”
“Well,” Cashmere hesitates. “Have you seen him? How upset is he?”
“He’s holed up in his room, attending classes remotely.” Plutarch tells her. “I was able to speak with him, but he doesn’t trust me. He needs someone he trusts.”
“Yeah, alright. I’m on it.” Cashmere ends the call, to get reinforcements on the line.
“Hello?” Finnick answers first.
“Hello?” Johanna a second later.
“It’s Cashmere, I need you both on the next train to the Capitol.”
“What’s going on?”
“Everest knows about…what Snow did to us.”
“No.” Finnick breathes, “he knows about Haymitch and Y/N?”
“Yep. I can’t do any sort of damage control, he’s not answering my calls.”
“Alright, let me get dressed and tell Annie. Then I’m out the door.” Finnick says.
“So the plan is to do what exactly? Just show up at his door, give him a pat on the back and say ‘I’m sorry your parents were forced to make porn and have you, that must feel awful. How’d you like to hear what happened to the rest of us?’ Yeah, I can see that going over really well.”
“Johanna,” Finnick sighs.
“You’re right, forget it. Don’t come.” Cashmere decides.
“I’m already halfway out the door, blondie.” Johanna bites back. “I was just hoping to establish a game plan. Poor kid just lost the illusion of his perfect life, and if we don’t tell Y/N she will kill us.”
“Then she’ll have to kill us,” Finnick decides. “She put us on call for Everest while he’s in the Capitol, Plutarch says he’s not ready to talk to Y/N. It’s not our position to pry or overshare. It’s not our position to even tell her.”
“Or Haymitch.” Cashmere tacks on, in case Johanna was planning to be sneaky.
“All I’m saying is…if it were me, I’d want my mom and dad. Not a bunch of other people.”
“We’re family, Johanna.” Finnick reminds her, “when something like this happens, you want your family.”
Johanna bites her tongue, they are her family. The people who took her in and loved her, while she clawed and bit at their outstretched hands. “I still think someone should tell her.” But…not my circus, not my monkeys.

Bucky Barnes, currently being at a bar with the other avengers and even if he still isn't the outgoing one, seems to have a good time with his friends.
The reader, being at the same bar with some of her colleagues. She also isn't very comfortable around them as she doesn't really like them, but wanted to be part of their group. It all goes fine, until the other woman of her team notices the avengers sitting there and they start drooling about how hot the guys are and even make advances towards them, especially towards bucky. But the reader is trying to hide as she isn't joining their bickering.
The avengers mostly are used to those woman's behaviour so they act professional. But bucky notices how uncomfortable the beautiful woman on the table feels, the reader. So even if he doesn't know her, he feels a pull towards her as soon as he sees her helpless eyes. So he gets up, walking towards their table and pulls her up, kissing her out of the blue, acting to be her boyfriend to save her and get her over to the avenger table and they all welcome her. Later maybe they hit it up and end up sleeping together and in the morning bucky is all shy and asks her for a proper date ? 🤗
Title: Stranger No More Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Summary: At a crowded bar, Bucky Barnes notices when it appear that you don’t quite fit in with your group- quiet, tense, and clearly uncomfortable as her coworkers throw themselves at the Avengers, Bucky finds himself acting with out thinking.

A/N: Went with Bucky ‘protective’ nature for this one..Sorry if this a little rushed, wanted to be able to put this up before I start my new job tomorrow... You weren’t laughing with the others. Bucky noticed that first.
He wasn’t trying to people-watch- really, he’d come out because Sam wouldn’t shut up about “getting Bucky to be a damn human being again,” and honestly, it was kind of nice. Loud, chaotic, but nice. There was a comfort in the noise, even if he stayed mostly on the fringes, observing more than participating. He’d nursed the same drink for over an hour, chuckling at Tony’s bad jokes and dodging Nat’s attempts to drag him into a game of darts.
But then his eyes had caught on you.
Not on the crowd of women at your table trying desperately to flirt with the Avengers like it was open season. Not the loud one asking Clint to flex. Not the one draping herself over the edge of her chair trying to get Steve’s attention. No, Bucky’s gaze locked on the one woman at the far end, tucked into the booth like she was trying to disappear, nursing a glass of wine like it was her only anchor to the room.
You.
Something about you hit him in the gut. You weren’t giggling. You weren’t flipping your hair or licking your lips or asking Steve if he really lifted a motorcycle once. You weren’t trying to be seen. You looked… small. Uncomfortable. Your shoulders were curled inward like you wanted to vanish entirely, and your fingers kept fidgeting with the napkin in your lap. He watched you glance at your coworkers- nodding at their laughter, offering the occasional forced smile- but you never truly joined in. You were pretending.
Then your eyes met his.
Just a second. Maybe less. But it was enough. You looked at him like you were silently begging someone to get you the hell out of there.
And that? That was enough to make him move.
Bucky moved before he thought about it. It wasn’t a calculated decision. It wasn’t heroic. It was instinct. Gut-deep and certain. Something in your eyes had pulled at him, tugged at some frayed wire inside his chest, and before he knew what he was doing, he was on his feet.
“Where you goin’, Romeo?” Sam called, but Bucky didn’t answer. He just gave a little shake of his head and kept walking.
He weaved through the crowd, sidestepping drunk college kids and dodging a server with a tray full of beers. As he got closer to your table, he saw the way the women around you were reacting. One of them straightened her top, pressing her arms together to push up her cleavage. Another ran a hand through her hair and shifted her body to face the Avengers' table more directly, clearly hoping to catch a stray glance. Desperation hung in the air like perfume.
But Bucky’s eyes were only on you. You looked like you wanted to crawl under the table- shoulders tight, your eyes fixed on your drink as if it could shield you from the chatter around you. When one of the women leaned closer to Bucky and tossed her hair with a loud laugh, your jaw clenched ever so slightly. It was subtle, but enough for him to notice. Enough to make him move.
You flinched when he reached you. Your lips parted, probably about to apologize for something you didn’t do, and that’s when he did it.
He bent down and kissed you.
Not rough. Not claiming. Just there. A soft, steady kiss that said, Go with this. I’ve got you. His hand cradled your jaw, thumb brushing your cheekbone, the touch feather-light but certain.
Your glass nearly slipped from your hand. But after the initial shock, your lips moved against his. Just a beat. Just enough to make it look real. Just enough to sell the moment.
When he pulled away, Bucky gave you the smallest smile it was crooked and soft. “Hey, baby,” he murmured, brushing a knuckle against your cheek like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Your coworkers were stunned into silence. One of them blinked like she couldn’t quite compute what she’d just seen. Another’s mouth hung open.
“I’ve been looking for you,” he added, loud enough for the table to hear. “C’mon back, everyone’s waiting for you.” He slipped his hand into yours like it had always been there.
And god bless you - you stood up without a word, let him take your hand, and walked away like this was your plan all along. You didn’t look back. Didn’t check to see the looks on your coworkers’ faces. You just went with him, and Bucky felt a strange warmth bloom in his chest.
He didn’t even know your name yet.
The others welcomed you at their table without question. Steve pulled out a chair, Nat gave you a wink, and Sam immediately leaned over to whisper something that made you smile. There was no awkward interrogation, no teasing questions, they made space for you like you already belonged. Bucky sat beside you, keeping his arm over the back of your chair. Not touching. Just there. A silent shield. A quiet comfort.
You didn’t say much for the first ten minutes. Your voice felt like it might catch in your throat if you tried, tight and uncertain, like it hadn’t been used in hours. When you finally spoke, it came out soft- barely above a whisper, shaky at first, like you weren’t sure anyone would care to hear it. He stayed beside you, body angled subtly in your direction like a protective wall. Every so often, he glanced at you, not in a demanding way, but checking in. Slowly, steadily, he could feel it: the tension easing from your shoulders, the way your fingers stopped twisting your napkin, the way your breath started to come easier.
Then you laughed at something Sam said, and Bucky nearly smiled into his drink. You were starting to breathe again- and this time, it was real.
Later- after the bar had emptied out and the night air had sobered the edges of your nerves- you and Bucky shared a cab back to his place. It wasn’t planned, not really. Just the kind of quiet, mutual understanding that hummed between you both. Under the guise of continuing the conversation, you rode together, shoulders brushing in the backseat, small smiles exchanged in the rearview mirror's reflection.
Once inside, he offered you water, asked if you wanted to sit down, and then stood awkwardly near the kitchen like he didn’t know what to do with his hands.
You crossed the room.
You kissed him first. Soft and steady, your lips on his jaw as you whispered, “Thanks for saving me.”
His response wasn’t words.
He kissed you breathless, hands firm but careful as he guided you down onto his bed. There was something hungry in him, yes- but deeper than that, there was reverence. He touched you like you were something he couldn’t believe he was allowed to have, like he needed to memorize you with every brush of his fingers. The way he undressed you was slow, deliberate, like unwrapping something sacred. His flesh hand stroked along every inch of skin he revealed, trailing fire in his wake, while the metal one remained cool against the warmth of your thigh, your waist, your throat- grounding and electrifying all at once.
"You sure about this?" he asked, voice low, already thick with arousal, his gaze searching yours.
"Yes, Bucky. God, yes."
He groaned when you said his name like that- like it belonged to you, like it meant something.
He kissed you again, deeper this time, and nudged your knees apart with the press of his thighs. The moment he slid inside you was a gasp- yours and his. He filled you completely, stretching you with a slow, deliberate push that made your back arch off the bed. His pace was unhurried but intense, like he needed to feel every inch of you around him, like he wanted to make it last.
Every thrust dragged a needy moan from your lips, and he soaked them up with kisses, but something in his voice faltered. He pressed his forehead to yours, breath shaky. "I shouldn't- this isn't me, I don't usually..." The words were fractured, struggling to find footing between instinct and insecurity. His metal hand gripped your hip like a lifeline, grounding him. He kissed you again, softer this time, a whisper of a vow. "You’re so warm- Christ.""
His hands didn’t stop moving- one clutching your hip, the other pressed against your lower back, pulling you into every stroke. And when your nails scratched down his back, he snapped his hips harder, groaning your name into your mouth like he couldn’t hold back any longer.
He fucked you through it- slow and deep, then fast and filthy when your legs wrapped around his waist and you begged for more. You came with his fingers on your clit and his mouth at your ear, coaxing it out of you like he needed you to break for him, to unravel completely under his hands.
And when he came right after, whispering a choked fuck as he buried himself deep and stilled, both of you trembling, your breaths tangled in the quiet between kisses.
In the morning, when sunlight crept through the blinds and your head rested on his chest, Bucky stared at the ceiling like it might give him answers. He could still feel the warmth of your skin against his, the ghost of your moans in his ears, and yet- now that the haze of lust had faded, nerves came creeping in.
He rubbed the back of his neck, hesitant. This wasn’t something he did. Not like that. Not with someone he didn’t even know twenty-four hours ago. And yet, it hadn’t felt rushed. It hadn’t felt wrong. It had felt... right. Which only made the knot in his stomach worse.
You shifted slightly, your breath warm against his chest, and he cleared his throat softly.
“So, uh… you maybe wanna- go out? I mean, if you want to. Like- actually out?” His fingers drummed nervously against the sheet, eyes flicking from the ceiling to your hand, then away again. His voice cracked slightly at the end, and he gave a half-shrug, already bracing for rejection. The words came out gruff, awkward. Not smooth. Not suave. He didn’t look at you when he said it, just kept his eyes on the ceiling like a coward.
You smiled against his skin, your arm tightening just slightly around his waist. “Thought you’d never ask.”
Bucky exhaled a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. Relief flooded him, followed by a shy grin he quickly tried to hide in your hair. Maybe he wasn’t good at this. But maybe, with you, he wanted to try.

Family meeting | Dad!Lucifer x Kid!Reader

Summary: Lucifer wants you to meet Charlie, the only problem? He needs to go to the hotel.
PT2 Of This and a full one shot of this.
Warnings: Off Canon in terms of time | Mentions of past abuse | Cursing | Reader gets loved by everybody | Probably some OOC | SFW | Grammar mistakes |
Lucifer undertood, really, he knew Charlie was too worried about her Hotel to ever leave it alone. He also felt bad about asking her to just come home to meet you, after all he was not a present figure in her life.
"(Y/n) are you ready ?" Lucifer called you who went to him with a cancerberus plush on your hand and a backpack with some toys.
"Im!" You declared showing off your things, and letting out a smile. You were now dressed in the best quality clothes Lucifer could afford, he had to take a moment to snap a pic of you (again).
"Let not keep them waiting then" Lucifer said taking you and supporting you on his hip, his wings out.
"ARE WE GOING TO FLY THERE?" You screamed making the house shake, your hyped self could not be contained.
"Yes, what better way to travel?" Lucifer joked. The first time you two took a fly together Lucifer was distracted and ended up dropping you. His reaction time was fast so he was able to catch you, already making promises to never fly again with you but your laught stopped him, turns out you loved to fly and loved the adrenaline from falling. Lucifer found it strange but decided not to question it.
He later went to the internet to look for more information.
Once you two took fly everything felt at peace (and you two were in hell...). Demons and sinners could see their King, no one dared to mess with him. Some ignored him, others bowed and some even waved at you.
From the Sky, the city seemed beautiful in its own type of way. The fire from fights and the buildings falling apart...big neon adverstiments...
If you were honest you liked hell.
Lucifer felt your self become sleepy making him smile. This would usually happen, something about flying with him relaxed you. Maybe being with the king of hell and on top of that flying around the city made you feel Powerfull and protected, enough to make you dizzy. Closing your eyes you let the feel of the wind caress your skin as Lucifer's wings moved towards the Hotel.
~☆~☆~☆~
Charlie was not nervous, not at all!!
That was a lie. Charlie was so stressed over his dad coming to the hotel and with you no less. When he had called her and asked to meet up she had said she had too much work (and it was true) then after listening to how he wanted her to meet you and how you have been asking about her.
Her heart could not take it so she accepted, saying she would make the hotel the safest place for you.
"Husk, put the alcohol away, OH! And be sure to remove any broken glass" Charlie exclaimed getting the most are you for real look from Husk.
Any sharp object had been locked down, weapons hided away and they even took extra care of things that could fall over you.
"Angel, try to...keep the sex jokes as...."
"As good as a good suck in a alley corner after some Drugs?" Angel asked getting an annoyed look from Vaggie. "Fine, I get it. Im not a monster you know" he responded offended going for a drink only to get some appel juice from Husk.
"Princess rules" he simple said.
Vaggie was behind Charlie as she went on checking everything. This was worse than one Lucifer had first come, this was Lucifer and you. The New kid, the new lil relative of Charlie.
"And- and did we get Alastor to go out?" Charlie asked Vaggie knowing how him and his dad were not at good terms.
"Well..."
"Now my dear, why would you want me away?" Alastor asked appearing besides her. "Its because your dad its coming today? Dont worry the hotel wont suffer any type of damage" he promised bowing "or maybe a bit"
~☆~☆~☆~☆
The sound of the door being opened alerted everyone. Charlie was sweating as she saw her dad entering with a small kid on his arms. Puffy sheep skin and cat hears and tail could be seen but their face was pressed against Lucifer's chest.
"Charlie!! Its so good to see you again" Lucifer exclaimed getting closer. "Sorry, (Y/N) felt asleep when coming here" he explained looking down with a lovely father gaze at the kid.
"Oh...thats...thats fine!! We have made everything kids safe for the time (Y/N) is here" Charlie responded still stressed, however now seeing you in the flesh and not only by photos her dad would send her, her heart softened at your sleepy form.
"Well, not everything..." Lucifer let out a groul seeing the Radio Demon who stood with his usual smile.
"Greetings your majesty, I never expected to be seeing you again so soon, maybe grow a few inches instead of getting kids from the streets on your free time"
"Hahaha, oh at least kids like me" Lucifer responded going towards Alastor.
"Hahaha only because you are their size"
"Hahaha, or because I dont have that broken record voice"
"Hahaha, fuck you"
The small beef between them was enough to wake you up, looking up you first saw Lucifer's face. A very angry look then the look of another Demon, a redish one that looked like a deer.
"...are these your ears or hair?" You asked half sleep getting everyones attention.
~☆~☆~☆~☆
"Oh ignore him, we are here to meet with by daugther!!" Lucifer quickly turned around making you face Charlie. He carefully let you down on the ground and saw how you went to her.
Charlie went to your eye level, her heart beating fast. "Hello! Im Charlie, and welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!!" She cringed at her introduction, laughts from Angel and Husk could be hear at the back.
"Im (Y/N)! Are you my older sister?" You asked moving your head to the side taking her appearence, no doubt she was Lucifer's child, she had a different aura, something cheerful and good, something your insticts told you to reach for.
Charlie's mouth went dry, her eyes having now tears as she remember the story her father told her about you, about how you ended in hell. How unfair it was and how Heaven would not listen.
"Y-yes Im" she responded trying to content her tears then almost getting knocked off when you hugged her. Your soft hair rubbing against her cheeck.
"I always wanted a sister"
Vaggie had to look away to keep her emotions in check. She undertood the malice from heaven and was thankul you had ended in Lucifer's way. Her heart broke a bit seeing your small form hugging her gilfriend.
Heaven its damed she tought to herself.
~☆~☆~☆~☆~
"And this is Angel Dust!" Charlie presented you the spider Demon who was looking down as he was thinking about someone else.
"Hello Kiddo" he ruffled your hair getting a laught from you.
"You have four arms?" You asked looking at Angel who showed them then picked you up
"You bet!! And do you know what form arms can do?"
Everyone was holding their breaths now.
"Lots of ticklets!!" He finally responded tickling you. Your laught and smile resonated in the hotel. Your cat hears moving from side to side as Angel tickled you with a small smile of his own.
~☆~☆~☆~
You pulled Angel around the hotel, telling different tales you have been reading from Lucifer's private collection. Angel just nodded at you, he took note of how your eyes would light up when you were talking about a favorite character or a special part of a story.
It melted his heart.
"I want juice" You suddendly said stopping and making Angel almost fall over you. Luckly he was able to catch his balance.
Juice? Angel thought then smirked looking at a very sober and pissed Husk.
"Here, this one makes the best drinks and im sure he has some juices for you" Angel said taking you towars Husk who was giving Angel a very do not dare look.
"Uhhh, he seems scary" you said softly looking at Husk while Angel seated you carefully.
"Scary? Pff he is just sober" Angel said getting a confused look from you.
"I mean-"
"What would you like kid?" Husk asked keeping his voice with no emotion. He had hear you said he looked scary and honestly, that was funny. By the fact that you had touched Alastor's hair and ears earlier and you got the radio Demon to almost break his cool.
Yeah not scared over the radio Demon but scared of him? You were something.
He passed you a juice with appels. You were quick to forget your fear as you sipped the drink looking at Husk. "I liken your wings"
Husk looked a bit suprised but soon relaxed giving you a easy smile.
"I like your horns...what are you?" He finally asked getting an annoyed look from Angel.
"Well...im not sure?" You responded now feeling shy.
"You are a sinner my Dear!" The voice of Alastor echoed as one of his shadows picked you up keeping you from touching his hair again.
"And who are you?" You asked back macking Alastor glitch, static forming around him but then going away.
"Im Alastor, the Radio Demon! I have a show, maybe you ever listen to it or you prefer these boxes..."
"You mean tvs?" Alastor nodded "I used to watch a bit during mornings but...my father hated when we did it he would scream at me and-" your voice broke making everyone look towards you Lucifer almost going for the Demon's neck.
"Oh you poor thing" Alastor said deep down (very deep) feeling bad. Memories of his own life coming to haunt him. "Then here!" He made a move and a old fashined radio appear "this radio hosts only my shows, and no one will be angry at you because you listen to it" He said smiling at you, his shadow still holding you and playing with your horns as Alastor watched Lucifer for a reaction.
"Uh...thank you Mister" You finally said getting a lick from the shadow itself.
"No problems Dear and if you ever need a New dad you know for who to look" He smirked at Lucifer.
"But Lucifer its my dad..." you responded, radio in your tiny hands "...could you be my uncle?" You asked innocently ignoring who you were talking to, one of the most powerfull Overlords in the circle.
Alastor moved his head his shadow getting you closer to him, he took a moment to examine your soul. So pure and so...so unlike him.
Alastor could be chained to someone, but right now the only one who could hold a leash on him was you.
"Of course Dear" he finally responded taking you from his shadow and to his arms.
"And can I play with your hair?"
"Hahaha, absolutly not"
Lucifer was being hold in the back by Charlie and Vaggie sending daggers to the Demon.

He Will Hope
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen x reader
Summary: Feyd is obsessed with his bride from the moment he sees her, but on their wedding night he finds out she might not feel the same. (Angst, but hopeful ending)
Warnings/Notes: Feyd POV, pre-smut and smutty-ish intentions (if that makes sense? idk, ignore me), instantly-in-love Feyd, unwanted marriage, baby(heir) talk, typos. Can absolutely be read alone, but also serves as something of a prequel to Do You Love? (same world, but big time skip), so I tried to kind of echo that with specific lines.
Words: 1500
Feyd-Rautha Masterlist
You’re so…beautiful. He didn’t expect a peace offering to be this perfect. Yes, he knew his bride would be a daughter of a Great House, but you are one of many sisters and Feyd did not imagine your father would send him the loveliest of his bunch.
It’s a loveliness that has you sticking out like a sore thumb on Giedi Prime. Hair and makeup and wedding dress styled in the traditions of your home world glue all eyes to you as you walk down the aisle, and he likes that there is so much attention on you. It makes his inability to cease staring more acceptable.
Harkonnens are not meant to be enthralled by their brides at first glance. Discouraged, even, from caring about their appearance at all. ‘Brides are meant for breeding,’ his uncle told him as a child, ‘It does not matter what they look like.’ But he was not told what to do or how to act in the event the bride makes his heart involuntarily skip a beat.
Maybe if your heart was reacting in the same manner navigating this new feeling would be less intimidating, but the tears streaming down your cheeks suggest that's far from the case. You can barely look at him and he’s not sure you would be able to speak if it was required of you, but thankfully, verbal agreements are not part of marriage ceremonies on Giedi Prime.
When he takes hold of your hand and slices your palm with his knife, you give no indication of pain. You are supposed to do the same to him but you seem nervous enough as it is, so he makes the three-inch long slash in his skin for you before pressing his palm against yours. The mixing of blood is a swearing of fidelity from husband to wife and wife to husband; a tradition and promise that wore down with time as concubines became more common. But he will not do that to you. You will be his one, his only, and if he can help it, he will be yours.
He barely detects the words declaring you married. They're dull and bubbly in his ears as if he's sunk under the surface of his bath water because he's too focused on your mouth. Your plush lips are pink and plump and glistening, and he wants them. So he takes them before he's told to do so.
You taste different than the Harkonnen women he’s had. There is salt from tears, but something distinctly you seeps through. It's sweeter. A bit intoxicating. The kind of taste that collars and leashes the unruliest of men, and he wants more. Much more. But there are too many eyes, some of which are full of relief at the match finally solidified while others are prying and suspicious. If he keeps his lips on yours too long, questions will begin to form from certain witnesses—Does he like her? Does he want her? Can she be used? Can she control him?—and the answer will be plainly obvious.
When he breaks the kiss, your eyelashes flutter with the gentle opening of your eyes and he knows then that nothing—no convincing from advisors, no threats from his uncle, no hatred on your end—could ever have him willing to detach himself and use you for the sake of an heir only to discard you later. You are his wife now, you will be the Baroness upon his uncle’s death, and he will protect you from anyone who values you for the sole purpose of providing a child.
—
He sees that your assigned servants have quickly learned to manage your hair and clothing. By the time they deliver you to him, the pins have been removed from the twist on your head, letting the strands hang loose to frame your face, and you’ve been unstitched from that heavy gown to be dressed in night clothes from your home. He provided you with a nightgown, so he wonders if wearing the thin dress was your choice or your parents' idea to make you undeniably enticing, but either way, it’s effective.
What drapes over your body is nothing like the opaque blacks and straight lines of Harkonnen attire. It's intricate both in color and design; flowing fabric that shimmers when you make the slightest movements and, at the moment, does little to hide your shape and curves.
As you stand in front of him, patiently awaiting instructions, he can only stare at what’s on display. Pebbled nipples, a plane of smooth skin down to your navel, your slit and the folds between your legs—he wants it all. All of you. Now. Here. Wherever he can have you.
Rising from the chair where he’d been waiting, he dissolves the space between you. His arm snakes around your waist. His hand slides across your cheek to the back of your head. Lips slam into yours, chests meeting despite that sliver of fabric, and he tastes that taste again, instinctually feeling a need to lift his chin, bare his neck, and let you tighten that collar.
It takes you a few seconds but when your lips start to move, he kisses you harder, pulls you closer, weaves his fingers through your hair and lightly tugs. He guides you backward toward the bed, skin warming at the image of sliding the nightgown down your body. That warmth fans into pure fire and he can’t stop kissing you, can’t stop taking from you, collecting what little you’re willing to give him. Two of his fingers tuck themselves under one strap of the nightgown and begin to slip it down your shoulder.
But then he stops.
He stops because your lips freeze.
He stops because you're starting to shake under his fingertips.
He pulls back to look at you and it’s undeniable, so terribly undeniable, and he feels a bit ill. “You don’t want this,” he states.
You don’t answer; you just stare up at him with those doe eyes that he can now see are full of fear, and his heart squeezes. His gut tightens. He suddenly has the urge to throw things, break things, watch things shatter to pieces because you don’t want him. His own wife doesn’t want his touch and he does not like this—not at all—but you’re scared, and he doesn’t like that even more.
Sighing, he resets the strap on your shoulder, drops his hands from your body, and steps away.
“I'll leave you alone,” he says. But as he passes by you, you grab onto his wrist.
“We have to,” you rush out. “They'll know if we don't.”
He shakes his head. “They won't know anything that happens between us unless I allow it,” he tells you.
“B–But they expect an heir.”
“Yes. And eventually, we will have to produce one. That does not mean we have to share a bed tonight if that is not what you want, and it's clear that is not what you want,” he says a little too harshly. He isn’t trying to be snippy, none of this is your fault, but it hurts, and not in the way he enjoys.
You suck in a sharp breath as if preparing to argue, but then something shifts in your eyes. Instead, you say, “Where will you go?”
“The adjoining room,” he answers, nudging his head to the door on the opposite wall: the room for the concubines that he will never take. You turn to get a look.
“Oh,” you swallow. “O-Ok.”
He grants himself a few more moments to study you, to soak in your soft and delicate features and the swollen lips he cannot have before he walks away, leaving you behind for the bed he had no intention of ever sleeping in.
When he reaches the door, he glances over his shoulder to get one last look. You’re facing away from him, sitting on the mattress with your head low, your back arched forward and arms wrapped around your middle. You look small like that, slowly huddling into a ball, and he’d do anything to make it stop. Because you are his. His wife. His na-Baroness. He’s well aware he’ll fall for you in no time—it’s already begun—and he wants you to be happy with him.
But you're not. And that already threatens the predictability of your future together. These foreign feelings he has for you are not guaranteed to be requited; something he isn't sure how to accept, and yet he may not have a choice. He cannot force your affection. He cannot demand you grow to love him. All he can do is try and hope that one day, he will win you over.
So that is what he does.

avoidance
if i had been in jiang cheng's position immediately after the fall of lotus pier, i probably would not have tried to strangle wei wuxian.
i don't like dealing with negative emotions, so instead i'd probably say some bullshit like "whaaat? no, it's not your fault and i don't blame you at all, so don't worry about it," and then just put all my energy towards trying to survive. except i would blame wei wuxian. i would very much blame him, from the depths of my soul. even if i tried my hardest to convince myself not to blame him, that i should not blame him, that i do not want to blame him - nonetheless, my subconscious would remain convinced that, were it not for him, my family and everyone i grew up with would still be alive.
and, because of that resentment, i would begin to pull away from him.
i would not save wei wuxian from that wen patrol. even if i did love that deeply, my resentment would still blunt my reaction time and i would not be able to act in time. for the sake of convenience, let's say that wen ning rescues wei wuxian from lotus pier anyways. wei wuxian lives. what happens then? on one hand, i still resent him for causing the deaths of all my family; on the other hand, though, now i also feel guilty for allowing him to be captured and tortured simply because i would not die in his place. how do i deal with these complicated emotions - these unsightly, ugly emotions? i don't. i bury them and pretend they don't exist, because running away from difficult feelings is how i've always lived my life - i run away from him, because whenever i see him, this twinned of resentment and guilt rear their ugly heads again.
thus, because of my emotional unavailability, the relationship tanks. maybe wei wuxian gets his core melted, somehow picks up demonic cultivation anyways, and is thus pulling away from me as well; maybe the avoidance comes from both ends. and if wei wuxian instead notices that something is wrong and starts pestering me about what's wrong - well, i have full faith in my ability to deflect. i am long-practiced in diverting the focus of a conversation specifically to imply that the other party's concern isn't welcome.
thus, by the time the sunshot campaign ends, our relationship would have severely deteriorated. and then, because of this, i would take wei wuxian leaving our sect to protect the wen remnants as the actual end of our bond. unlike jiang cheng, i would not even argue against wei wuxian's leaving, nor say things as sentimental as "if you insist on protecting them, then i cannot protect you" - instead, i'd simply write off our relationship as doomed and sever it peacefully.
after all, he owes me nothing. i am entitled to neither his labor nor his presence. if he wishes to leave, then he is free to go; if he wishes to no longer be family, the i will no longer think of him as so. in fact, the less familiarly i think of him, the better: it is at once much easier and much more comfortable for me to believe, in a post-hoc sense, that someone who has left me actually never wanted to be with me to begin with, and i therefore have not lost anything of value at all. and this loss would not hurt me as much as it hurt jiang cheng in canon. after all, i, unlike jiang cheng, am a veteran at avoiding all thought on topics that distress me; instead, i'd soon find something new and exciting with which to distract myself.
i would not visit wei wuxian in the burial mounds. if jiang yanli insisted on seeing him, perhaps i would accompany her there, but i would not make any conversation with him myself beyond what is absolutely necessary. i would consider the death of jin zixuan unforgivable. i would consider the death of jiang yanli unforgivable. but perhaps i would not feel as wretchedly betrayed as jiang cheng does in canon: after all, i in this scenario, unlike jiang cheng, have already given up on wei wuxian a long time ago.
i would probably lead the first siege of the burial mounds. i would not hold the same level of animosity against the wens as jiang cheng does in canon - in general, while i can hold onto subconscious resentment for a long time, actively clinging onto seething hatred for extended periods of time is difficult for me. perhaps i'd even speak up more for the wen remnants, out of purely some abstract moral concern for the wellbeing of POWs; however, i'd stand down the moment any of said speech put my own people in danger. perhaps i'd lead the first siege of the burial mounds because it is expected of me. or perhaps i'd genuinely want the man who hurt my sister to die.
either way, if i then encountered wei wuxian in the burial mounds battlefield, i would actually kill him. it would be easy for me to do so.
---
as you might have guessed, the "i" in this passage is not actually me (yanyan) from real life. if it were Me In Real Life in jiang cheng's position i would probably just die.
instead, the "i" in thjis passage is a different MDZS character. prize for you (bragging rights) if you can guess who it is!!!!!

"Special and unique"

(CHAPTER 6)
After what happened, you stayed locked in your room again. It was for the best... Staying within these four walls, hoping that being here would protect you from being hurt by your siblings again.
Maybe if you stay in this room for the rest of your life, they won't be able to find you, and they won't be able to hurt you again, right?
Alfred quickly noticed your depressed expression and the fact that, once again, you completely refused to leave your room. He asked if something had happened, but you denied it and lied, saying you were just sad because you couldn't get along with your family.
Alfred also didn't know you had a little monarch butterfly that came to your room from time to time. So there was no point in telling him you were depressed because Jason killed your little butterfly friend.
So, just as you had been doing since you arrived here, you had to suffer in silence, inside this large, empty room.
The only good thing was that Alfred recently found Toti for you and returned him to you. At least your faithful stuffed animal was back in your arms. He was the only one who made you feel less alone.
Because yes, you know, Toti is just a stuffed animal, just a fuzzy bear-shaped thing stuffed with cotton. But what of that? That doesn't change the fact that you've been with him for years, doesn't change the fact that during the nights, when you cried over your mother's death, or when you cried about not being accepted here, he always stayed with you.
You don't need Toti to talk, he already comforts you enough just by being with you, in your arms.
As you lay on the bed, hugging Toti, your eyes scanned the room.
The room you were given when you arrived at Wayne Manor... It's big. You're still not used to its size, because you never thought you'd have a room like this.
However, no matter how big the room is, or how elegant the furniture looks... It doesn't make you hate it any less. You don't like it. You don't like this place, you don't like this cold room. Its large walls simply serve to remind you how alone you are.
You hate it, you hate how even when it's daytime, this room still seems dark and gray.
Or maybe it's because at some point everything started to feel gray for you?
"I want to get out of here..." you murmured to yourself, hugging Toti tighter.
You closed your eyes tightly, you just wanted your mother... You tried to imagine, you tried to remember your mother's voice, her sweet, soft voice, and the gentle way her hands used to caress your hair.
You smiled slightly as you remembered her, as you remembered the warm color of your mother's eyes, the beautiful color of her hair, and the beautiful smile she always used to dedicate only to you.
But then your thoughts were interrupted, remembering now what had happened and what you wanted so much to forget; your father's indifference, receiving false promises and false kindness from Dick, being seen as nothing more than a nuisance by Tim, Stephanie's attitude towards you, the cold indifference of Cassandra and Barbara as well, and Jason's cruel comments towards you from the first time he met you.
You opened your eyes instantly, wanting to push those terrible memories away. You just wanted to remember your mother, not what happened to you with this family.
"Now I can see why Mom never let me meet my father," you said softly, staring up at the ceiling. Now you understood your mother. Surely she already knew that, right? She already knew how cold and indifferent Bruce can be, which is why she kept you away from him. She didn't want you to have a father who made you suffer. She would never have allowed anyone to hurt you, not even your father.
You sighed softly. Well... Now Mom wasn't here, and you were too far away from your aunt and cousins, so... There was no one to protect you anymore. You were alone... Where's your family? They're definitely not in this mansion. Those heartless guys can't be your family. You don't want them to be.
It's late at night, and you can hear the rain pounding against your window. Almost without thinking, you get out of bed, leaving Toti on the bed as you head for the door and leave the room.
You haven't left your room for days, so why are you doing it now? Well, not even you know. You just... got fed up with being in your room, maybe.
Since it's already late, the mansion's hallways are darker than usual, but you don't care. You just walk aimlessly through the mansion, not thinking about anything.
After walking for a while, you see some lights coming from a room.
You raise an eyebrow in curiosity and decide to approach, peeking a little through the half-open door.
Your eyes widen in surprise as soon as you see them. They're... several people in strange outfits, and Alfred is with them. After paying a little more attention, you notice who they are... It's Batman and his companions, right? There's Robin too, and Nightwing. You don't recognize the rest, but you know they were related to Batman as well.
You only knew Batman and his companions because you saw them in a newspaper when you arrived in Gotham with your aunt. But definitely... Never in your life did you expect to see them yourself, much less here.
Your heart freezes the moment you hear Alfred call Batman 'Bruce.' Then... Everything in that moment started to fall into place. You discovered that... Your father was Batman, the famous Gotham hero. And your brothers were vigilantes too.
You stood there, almost forgetting to even breathe as you tried to process this information.
Wait... If your father is Batman, and the others are vigilantes too, no one is supposed to know their identities, right? And now, you found out by mistake. You shuddered at the realization... If they find out you know who they are, they'll be really angry, right? Bruce will probably scold you severely, and the others will intimidate you just to make sure you don't say anything. You can't... You don't want them to do that, you don't want them to scold you, to yell at you, to hate you more... You don't want.
So, with shaky breaths, you start walking as quietly as you can away from the door, mentally praying that you'll make it out without being noticed.
Then... Because the hallway was dimly lit, and you were too focused on looking back to make sure no one saw you, you inadvertently... You trip over your own feet and fall to the floor, obviously making a noise.
Your heart nearly stops when you feel someone's presence right behind you. When you turn around, you see your father—or rather, Bruce in his black Batman suit. He stares at you, and you shudder at how serious he seems.
The others leave the room as well, a little surprised to see you on the floor. It's obvious that you've now discovered their identities.
Receiving each of their intense stares is completely unbearable. Why did this have to happen?
You sigh softly, and stand up on your own, since of course, no one will help you up.
You watch as Batman opens his mouth, wanting to start talking. But you don't need to listen to him, not when you already know what he's going to say. You know he's going to scold you for being nosy and finding out something you shouldn't. And you know the others will agree with him, talking about how rude and stupid you are for wandering around the mansion at this hour in the first place.
And honestly... By now, you've had enough of them, you don't want to hear them anymore.
So, before Bruce can start talking... You just look at him indifferently, and turn around, starting to walk, intending to go back to your room.
But then... Before you can get too far away, you feel someone stop you, you feel that strong grip on one of your arms, and oh my... You instantly know who it is. It's not the first time you've felt this rough grasp.
"Where do you think you're going, you little freak?" Jason asked, his tone serious and demanding. "You can't just leave, not after being nosy and discovering something you shouldn't have. Seriously... Didn't anyone teach you not to eavesdrop?"
Just hearing Jason's voice makes you grit your teeth, that bastard... He's still the same. He still thinks he can talk to you however he wants, that he can do whatever he wants.
He's wearing that red helmet, and yet... It's completely obvious to you what kind of expression he has right now. The same angry expression as always, right? Well, that's to be expected from someone like him.
You look away for a moment, now looking at the others. So now you know everyone's identity. It's obvious, you can recognize them even if they're wearing masks.
And... None of them come closer, they just stare. Boy, they really don't care about the way Jason roughly handles you, a 9-year-old girl. You'd say it surprises you, but it really doesn't. They won't do anything because they don't care about you, right?
At that moment, Alfred looks at Bruce, trying to tell him that he needs to do something to stop Jason's attitude.
Bruce understands, so he takes a step forward, staring at Jason.
"Let her go, Jason. That's not the way," Batman said, his tone completely serious.
But before Jason could respond, you jumped in. "Save your words, Batman," you replied in a flat, gruff tone, slipping out of Jason's grasp.
"It's not like I really care if they wear colorful suits at night to go out on the streets to fight... I don't care" you muttered under your breath, walking away quickly without looking back, with no one able to stop you.
Finally, you reach your room and slam the door behind you. Then, you collapse onto the floor, your legs feeling completely weak now.
Even though you walked away from them seemingly indifferent, deep down... you were actually an emotional wreck. But you didn't want to show it to them, you didn't want them to see you vulnerable, no more. Because, when you were weak and sought them out, no one was there for you, so you don't need to be weak in front of them again.
Tears stream down your cheeks as you gaze up at the mansion's ceiling.
Finding out your father is Batman, that this is a family of vigilantes... You never expected this, there were a lot of things you never expected when you arrived in Gotham, but this is number one, definitely.
Replaying the scene in your mind made your lips tremble slightly... The fear and panic you felt in your chest as soon as they discovered you, the way even with his Batman suit, Bruce still had a strict look for you, the way Jason called you that way again and took you by the arm tightly, and no one said anything to him, no one stopped him, they just... They just stared.
And above all, knowing that Bruce simply tried to stop Jason because Alfred asked him to, but if it hadn't been for that, he would surely have stood by and done nothing like the others, right?
Besides, even though you tried to hide it, you actually... actually freaked out when you realized Jason was near you again. You almost wanted to cry at the way he held you. Even more so because it brought back memories of your first encounter with him, those painful memories of how he destroyed your butterfly in front of your very eyes without a shred of guilt.
None of them ever do anything for you. They just hurt you more and more. And that's... That's not what a family should do. But then again, you have to remind yourself that they probably don't even see you as part of their family in the first place.
Finally, you get up, walk around your room, and stop until you reach your closet. You take out a medium-sized box and open it. Inside, there's a small Batman plush.
When you arrived in Gotham, your aunt bought it for you, and gave it to you before leaving you at Wayne Manor.
"Lo siento, tía... Pero realmente, no planeó conservar esto." And with that, you took some scissors and instantly, you started to destroy the Batman plush.
You hated him, you hated Batman, because Batman is your father, he's everyone's hero in Gotham, except yours. He can save everyone, except you. He can protect everyone, except you. And it's just... Because he doesn't even care about you in the first place, right? He's probably so busy being Batman at night and a famous billionaire by day that he never has time for you, even if you're his daughter. Which is funny, considering he always has at least a little time for his other children, except for you.
He never has time for you, and he never will, right?
With one last movement of anger and frustration, you finally... finish destroying the small Batman plush that was left in pieces by you.
You pick it up, you pick up every single piece of the Batman plush, and you just go and throw it in the trash.
Ah... Somehow, this helped you relax a little, to vent your anger at the way Bruce has treated you. Feeling a little better, you finally get into bed, beginning to sleep peacefully with Toti in your arms.
❦: (In this chapter we could see the different emotions that the reader now has for the batfamily. First she tried to seem indifferent, then she felt bad and at last she was angry while destroying the Batman plush. Here it can be reflected that she feels both sadness, fear and anguish for the batfamily, but also hatred and anger. It could also be observed that in this chapter she tried to hide it, since now she develops a quite strong need to avoid them seeing her vulnerable again due to the previous events. We know that in some cases, it is difficult not to end up hating those who hurt you. And it would be a mixture of sadness, pain and anger. Because even if you hate them, it does not mean that you are not really affected by what they do.// Well, I hope you liked this chapter, and I plan to make the next chapter longer, so it will probably take longer to publish it.)

hear me out.. this is fluffy 🥹
imagine wriothesley as a dad, especially a girl dad! (thanks to his teaser for this idea!!!)
cw. ・✶ 。 none, fluff, established relationship (he's your husband), girl dad wriothesley <3 (she's around 6), fem! reader

the love wriothesley has for his daughter is the purest form of love.
it's new— and he has never felt it before, in fact, it cannot be compared with anything else in this universe.
as it was in his life, wriothesley was severely occupied as the duke of the fortress and such was the wonderful reason as to why he likes to appreciate the little moments that happen in your day to day life with your daughter— the feeling of protecting his child was inexpressible, and in order for him to at least miss you both a little bit less or make it become somewhat bearable, wriothesley finds himself romanticizing the morning hours of the day.
the duke starts his day with greeting you, his wife, and his cute daughter before he helps you to get her ready as much as he can— side note your daughter has his eyes, and if words could describe it only a little bit, she looks just like an angel.
also— it might be silly, or maybe it just looks silly seeing your husband struggle like that, but something about him doing your daughters hair was— by the same token, very cute and quite hilarious.
that's when his alter ego, the quote on quote, “hair stylist wriothesley”, comes into place.
not beating around the bush, but your husband was surprisingly very good at doing her hair. obviously, he does it the same way you showed him, yet he will always add a ridiculous amount of bedazzled hair accessories to her head.
to say that wriothesley was a big fan of glittery, sparkly head pieces would be a clear understatement— but do not try to put them on his hair, this dangerous route will take you to a tickle competition you simply cannot win, not even if you tried your hardest.
the duke didn't see anything wrong with clipping a bunch of radiant hair accessories on her head, even though she might end up looking like a disco ball— not that your daughter minds it, archons, she utterly adored it whenever her dad did her hair!
she was, in fact, the biggest fan of her dad doing it, because they got to spend some quality time together before he would be gone for the majority of her day. how he kneels down behind her while she sits on the little seat in front of her child-sized vanity, looking at her dad through glowy, admiring eyes while he does her hair for the day.
sadly, wriothesley knows that after that he has to work, he must and it will always take him all his power to get going— before that though, he will tell you both goodbye, add a small kiss on his daughters forehead before giving you a small peck on the lips.
how deeply he wanted to spend the day with you two, maybe walk around fontaine so you could shop around— because last time you did that, you actually found a matching outfit for you and your daughter and wriothesley found it to be one of the cutest, little memories in his mind.
he even took a picture of the two of you and keeps it in his wallet at all times now. who knows but when he feels like it becomes unbearable while being apart from his family, he tends to just look at it and smile.
when wriothesley met you, his live truly has changed forever.
you gave him pure, unfaltering love, deep compassion and of course— a family, something he thought he'd never be able to have.
being a parent certainly wasn't an easy task, and it was important to navigate through future differences that might occur one way or the other, more so seek out a good way to find the best possible solution for everybody involved.
not only for your marriage sake, but for your own childs sake— and wriothesley cannot wait to teach her valuable life lessons, about giving love to the world and the importance of following your dreams, opening his arms for his child with kindness, provide his cute daughter with hope, real hope.
while lastly, make his child excited to see this world and grow up with two wonderful parents that love her so very much.

[4] personal astrology observations
[!] this is mostly an introspective view into my chart; in no way, shape, or form am i saying that any of this is fact or set in stone, nor am i saying that i am a professional astrologer. these are just presences that exist within my chart that i've felt manifest themselves in real life. simply put, take what resonates and leave what doesn't :)

─ having your moon and ascendant in the same sign 🤝🏽 having every single emotion flash on your face, clear as day, at all times
═ sun in the tenth house 🤝🏽 indicator of doing well in your career or being able to advance in your career more easily than others
☰ on that note, mercury in the tenth house can also indicate being able to advance in your career because of the way you speak or how well you speak in a professional setting. individuals with this sign can also be recognized in the workplace for how well they speak and communicate.
☱ individuals with moon in twelth house may find themselves dwelling in the past more than most. the feeling of nostalgic makes them both happy and sad at the same time.
[personally, this manifests itself in me being able to constantly go back to specific moments in my life where i could've made a different choice, where i could've said yes to a specific opportunity, where my split decision could've prevented something monumental in my life from happening, and just overthinking the hell about how different my current situation would be if i did or did not. lots of angst and nostalgia in this sign tbh. it's hard, i know.]
☲ having moon negatively aspecting venus can indicate a late-bloomer in relationships. one might be more likely to find themselves in a serious relationship much later in life compared to others. this may be because the individual could be less likely to pursue romance on their own and would rather be approached first by a potential love interest.
[i can personally attest to this. at the ripe old age of 23, i have never been in a relationship before (or even a fling). from personal experience, i find that this is mostly out of fear of rejection (maybe coupled with my fear of being known but who really knows).]
☴ the taurus juno urge to show love and care through cooking— whether they're good at it or not. be it making their loved one breakfast in the morning, buying them a thoughtful snack or baking them their favorite dessert; a taurus juno is intrinsically tied to food in how they express their dedication and commitment to the one's they love most.
☳ a few asteroid notes:
note: asteroids are less impactful to one's personality, physicality, etc. compared to personal planets. they tend to only be relevant to one's chart if they are either in a tight orb (0-1°) or have major aspects to personal planets, preferably conjunctions or oppositions.
✢ kalliope (22), known as the chief of all muses, goddess of eloquence, and muse of epic poetry is the eldest of the nine muses. her name translates to "beautiful-voiced" from the greek words "kallos" and "ops". having this prominent in one's chart can indicate being known for having a beautiful voice, whether it be in terms of singing, public speaking, or just in general. someone that can attract positive attention from others simply through their voice, even to the point of possibly becoming someone's muse for it.
✢ [tw: r***] peitho (118), the personified spirit of seduction, persuasion, and charming speech, was the handmaiden and herald of the goddess aphrodite. interestingly, one striking depiction of peitho is of her fleeing from the scene of a r***. she was known to protect women from r*** and was known to flee from scenes of r*** when she was unable to intervene. peitho’s gift was pleasure for words and bodies, and she would be enraged when such pleasure was violated in any way.
i feel that this energy, when prominent in one's chart, can manifest itself in a girl's girl— a protector of women and advocate for consent. and while this observation does lean into the darker side of peitho, on the lighter end, this energy does also stand for using one's gift in speech and voice to seduce and charm others whilst also using it to stand up for women in unconsenting situations with men.

Hii, I’m sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could write a smut with JJ where he is dating John B’s sister and she is innocent and clueless in front of her brother because for him she is his precious sweet angel but in the bedroom since she’s with Jj she’s confident and maybe one day they think they’re alone and they are not alone :))
I hope you understand, English is not my first language
brothers best friend ✧
jj maybank x fem!reader.
warnings: 18+. overprotective brother, swearing, an argument, foreplay, p in v, smut. use of nickname baby and good girl.
summary: being john bs sister made it difficult for you to find a boyfriend, especially when the guy you want is his best friend. however, what john b doesn't know, can't hurt him. until one day, jj thinks the two of you are alone, but john b comes back early.
a/n: so happy to be here. like if you enjoy. masterlist is pinned on my profile.
———————————————————————
john b was really protective of you. you couldn't fault him for it, he was your older brother. he was just looking out for you, and he wouldn't let you settle for less. so, despite how much you adored jj, you had to keep it under wraps in fear that john b wouldn't approve. it began when john b started inviting jj over. you'd be making food in the kitchen, seeing you brother and his best friend hanging out. you immediately noticed how attractive jj actually was. he was so laid back and casual. his hair fluffy and wild. you accidentally made eye contact a few times, getting caught staring.
you'd hide your grin, glancing away quickly. you walk up to the two of them, "hi guys." john b chuckled, "this is my little sis." you look at jj, smiling. "hey." jj smiles brightly at you, his eyes raking over your frame. your heart races, nerves overwhelming you. "what are you guys up too?" you ask. jj looks over, and john b answers. "we are waiting for pope and kiara." you give a puzzled look, and john b notices. "were going to a party later." your eyes light up and he can immediately read you. "can i go? please!" he groans, "no, you cant." you frown, looking at jj. he looks a little disappointed too, but he hides it before john b can notice. "why not?" he shrugs, "i don't want to babysit you the whole time." you roll your eyes, "you choose to babysit me, i'm old enough to take care of myself." he laughs, "maybe next time." you shake your head slightly, understanding. "okay."
the rest of the group arrives, and they leave just as quickly, causing you to be alone at the house. you question if you want to invite someone over, but with the uncertainty of when they would be back, you decide against it. especially because you don't want jj to get the wrong idea. you wait in your room, searching for entertainment to pass time.
after a while, jj started to hang out regularly. it started to feel weird when jj wasn't around. you wanted to tease him, leaving your room with short pajama shorts and a tank top. you'd smile at him, greeting him gently. you grab a cup of water, before walking back to your room. this was a regular occurrence. you wanted to be able to see jj, but always needed a reason in case john b questioned you. "hey sis?" before you could reach your room, john b calls out to you. you turn around joining them in the living room again. "yes?" he points to the kitchen, "can you get us some chips?" you nod, "which bag?" you head to the kitchen, "any, we don't mind." you reach for one of the bags, bringing it back to the boys. "thank you, you're so sweet." jj comments. your heart flutters but you don't let it show.
john b opens the bag of chips, "appreciate you, sis." you stealthily steal a few chips from the bag. "this is payment." the three of you break into laughter. "now leave us be." he jokingly remarks. "like i'd want to hang out with you losers." their mouth opens wide, shocked. "it would be a privilege to be able to hang with us." you shrug, "i know! but you never invite me." they smile at you, "soon." you grin, quickly leaving the room. john b always said soon, but he never actually invited you out with his other friends.
john b was oblivious to your connection to jj. he figured you'd know better. and if you didn't, he at least trusted that jj would. the two of you however, had a growing need for each other. jj wanted to respect john b's rule, but the urge he had to corrupt you was incessant. anytime he saw you, he considered just pulling you in the other room to see if you felt the same way as him.
he makes the mistake of leaving you two alone. "i'll be back i'm going to run to sarah's house to pick something up." jj wanted to seem like a good friend, and despite how badly he wanted to stay at the house, he still felt obligated to ask. "want me to come with you?" john b shook his head, "no, sarah and i haven't seen each other in a while. i think she would rather i come alone." jj nods, "no problem." john b quickly leaves the house, leaving the two of you alone.
now, you knew jj wouldn't make the first move, he couldn't do that to his best friend. that's why you made it easier, and made the first move yourself. jj was on his phone, sitting on the couch. you waited for the twinkie to speed off before daring to join him. you sit by him, smiling. "hi jj." he looks over, his heart beating fast. "hey, whatcha up too?" he locks eyes with you. you lean forward, "im bored." he tilts his head to the side, curious. "what can i do for you?" you smirk at the perfect set up. "i need help in my room, can you help me?" he's happy to help you, "of course." you nod, leading him to your room. you shut the door behind him, locking it. he notices, and a smirk lifts to his lips.
"what are we really doing in your room?" you sit on the edge of the bed. "i just think you are really hot jj." he is stunned by your words, he always heard from john b that you were innocent, now he was more intrigued than before. "oh yeah?" he sits on the bed with you. "how fucked up is it, that i want to fuck my best friend's little sister?" you bite your lip, "how fucked up is it, that i want to fuck my brother's best friend?" he looks at you for a second, trying to resist. "depends on who you ask." you smirk, "what if i asked you?" he looks away, his mind racing. he thought about this moment a million times, but now that he was here doing it, he became nervous. you lean forward, pressing your lips against his. you get onto his lap. "this is our only chance, are you going to fuck me or not?" you started to grind against his bulge. "i know you get turned on by me." he looks up at you, his mouth slightly open. "ive had so many thoughts about fucking you." his words only encourage you more. "show me jj. what do you think about?" you get off of his lap, "do you imagine me stripping for you? piece by piece...?" you slowly take your shirt off, throwing it to the floor. you unclasp your bra, "did you ever think about my tits? what they'd look like?" you walk closer to him. you grab his hand, leading him to your chest. "touch me jj, i need it." his hands play with your tits. "fuck baby." he leans forward kissing you needily.
you back away, slowly taking your shorts off, leaving you in a pretty thong. "i think about you at night." you slide jjs shirt off. he groans as you feel his abs. "fuck your sexier than i thought you'd be," you press kisses against his abdomen. "can you please fuck me, jj?" you beg him, he melts under your touch. "lay back on the bed." he slides off his pants and underwear. he rubs your clit through your thong. "you're so fucking hot." he watches your face contort, pleasure and need overwhelming you. "im gonna make you feel so good." he slides your thong off; he spreads your legs open. "it might hurt at first, okay?" you nod, "i need you jj, please." he used one hand to guide himself in you, the other hand grabbing your hip.
jj was huge, and he stretched you out. you crumble beneath him. "shit you feel so good." you scratch at his back, his pace speeding up. "do you know how long i've wanted to pound your sweet pussy?" he groaned, his words only working you up more. "how long, j?" both of his hands are gripping your hips as he desperately ruts against your tight hole. "the first time i saw you, those looks you gave me." you moan out, his pace rough and hard. he used one of his hands to rub your clit, "i could have fucked you then and there." you stare directly in his eyes, "i wish you would have." your words fuel him more. he pulls out. he lifts your legs up, using one hand to hold them up. he slides himself inside you again, the new angle adding more pleasure. "gonna need you to cum for me, we don't have a lot of time." you nod, "don't stop. please. i need to cum." he uses all the energy he can to get you to your climax, "c'mon baby, be a good girl and cum for me."
his words and the pleasure from how deeply he was fucking you, led you to the edge. you moan loudly, "fuck jj." your legs shake slightly, jj pulls out jerking his cock. you readjust, allowing him to cum over your boobs. "give me your cum jj, please." he throws his head back, thick ropes of cum shoot out, covering your chest. "fuck, that's the hardest i've came in a while." you smirk, proud you were able to help him do that. you were so caught up in the moment, you hadn't realized john b was back home.
you quickly clean your chest up, the two of you scrambling to get dressed. john b is banging on your bedroom door, the doorknob jingling repeatedly. "let me in the fucking room! im not kidding!" you two were now decent, and you unlock the door, letting john b in. "what the fuck is going on here?" you frown, "he was helping me with that shelf." you point to the opened box on the floor, a set up you had planned in case something like this happened. john b shook his head, not sure what to believe. "did you guys fuck?" jj speaks up first, "absolutely not man. i wouldn't do that to your little sis. that's gross." his words sting, but you try not to take offense. john b stares in silence. "i'll believe you for now, but next time don't lock the fucking door. you guys stress me out." you frown. "sorry john b, we weren't trying to stress you out. i asked him for help, and out of habit i locked my door." he nods. "alright finish that shelf, but me and jj have shit to do tonight."
with that, john b walks away. you sigh with relief. you look at jj, and he looks pale. you lean down, grabbing the instructions. you hand them to him, "here." he sits down on the floor. "thanks." you listen to see where john b was, and he was in his room with sarah. you whisper. "thank you jj," he grins, "no, i should be thanking you." you awkwardly laugh, "that could have been bad," jj smirked, "we'll just need to find a way for more alone time." you grin, relishing in the fact that jj wanted to do it again. "would you want to do that again?" he asked, not wanting to jump to conclusions. "yes please." your confirmation gave him confidence. he helped you build the shelf, assembling it, and drilling it into the wall.
john b had stolen jj away for the rest of the night, and while you did feel lonely, you were excited that you finally were able to make a move with jj, and that he reciprocated it.

How about someone who was recently turned into a Cybertronian and Team Prime tended to and comforted them? They have a lot of adjusting to do! 👀
TW: A bit of implied disassociation because, holy shit, suddenly you're a giant metal robot and that's kinda hard to wrap your newly non-organic brain around.
((Knock Out is here because there is not enough Autobot!Knock Out and I love him.))
Team Prime comforting Reader, who just got turned into a Cybertronian, would include...
Optimus reassures you from the first moment that you have a safe home with Team Prime, should you choose to stay with them. Of course, you do. He makes sure you have the time and space to adjust and be comfortable with your new body before jumping into anything. He's just there if you need him, which some days is more helpful than everyone's else's efforts to offer unsolicited advice right off the bat.
Bumblebee helps you adjust to having wheels by challenging you to races that double as training whenever possible. He is almost certainly going easy on you, but nobody ever tells you as much.
Bulkhead is the first to realize that maybe you just really need a damn hug right now, if only because he's not very good with words. He hugs you and reassured you that it will be okay, and you're amazed how warm and fuzzy you feel afterwards, even though you're fairly sure your new body doesn't actually feel such minute temperature changes.
Ratchet tries to be "comforting" by explaining how your new body works... in detail that goes way, WAY over your head. But eventually, you get him talking about Cybertron's history and culture, and realize that your two species aren't all that different after all, which helps more than an anatomy lesson ever could.
Smokescreen is quick to remind you that you don't have to go back to your boring human school/job/house/whatever. Depending on how much you liked/disliked your old life, this is either incredibly helpful or incredibly irritating. If you get upset with him though, he's quick to apologize, and it's hard not to be comforted by that well-meaning smile and a servo patting your shoulder.
Arcee might somehow be even more protective of you than she is of the humans - she knows what happens when bots overestimate how much they can handle, and she figures that's really easy to do when you go from being a tiny, fragile human to a giant robot. Sometimes it's hard to hear her remind you that you're still mortal, but she means well. "Okay Mom, I get it."
Wheeljack, like Bulkhead, isn't very good with words, but he's also not very good with affection. What he can do, however, is listen. He's there the first time you get frustrated with the rest of the Team - not because they truly did anything wrong, but because being cramped into a tiny base with people you've just met will irritate anyone - and he never breathes a word of what you vented to the others. The Wreckers had their spats too - he knows you'll all be cool at the end of the day.
Oh Primus help Ultra Magnus he doesn't have a comforting servo in his body, but at least he's honest about that. In fact, he's the best bot to go to when you're ready to have things less sugarcoated.
Knock Out doesn't understand what the fuss is about - why would anyone ever want to be a squishy, gross organic when they could be Cybertronian? Humans couldn't turn into cars, for one, and couldn't be polished. He gives you a fresh coat of paint and polish and tells you how much better you look now - it does help, in a way. Being able to pick out new paint makes you feel a little more like your new body is really your body.
But honestly? Your biggest comfort might just be Jack, Miko, and Raf, if only because they will remind you any time you so much as frown just how cool being a giant robot is. And then you remember, yeah, it is pretty cool, actually.

I am not sure if you have seen/remember abt the yandere purge AU. What if MC tries and sell the idea that in their world: yandere are more subtle and only has one day to "claim" their darling, World building stuff. Just an idea. Don't know if that makes it worse or better for the MC.
I have seen the yandere purge AU, and it does work in a yandereverse kind of AU. Obviously it would solve a lot of problems, and now darlings don’t have to live in fear everyday of the year, are going to be much less stressed, and less crime is committed overall.
I feel as if it could only work if the yandere’s didn’t outnumber the number of darlings and normal people, because then it feels like an event done to uphold the peace.
If the MC tries to sell the idea that this is a better way to have their darlings, then it’s more than likely going to catch on to the pro-darling rights areas like the Shaftlands and the Queendom of Roses. Those areas I imagine would have issues with certain crimes like murder, assaults and unlawful darling kidnappings. So it would probably be able to catch on in those areas, because it's a more ‘civilised’ way of dealing with darlings.
Areas like the Afterglow Savanna and the Coral Sea are definitely areas where that won’t catch on. It’s common for crimes surrounding darlings to not be treated the same as the pro-darling areas unless it’s something severe like murder or violent abuse.
The Briar Valley believes its treatment of darlings is fair and just, the darlings are kept safe, and the entire process of claiming and connecting darlings with their yanderes is already considered civilised. So they’re disillusioned with how their crimes are considered bad. So it’s a no for them.
The Isle of Woe is a special case, the yanderes there rarely leave the Isle unless it’s to find their darlings, and the only people on the isle are the yanderes that already lived there and the darlings that were brought there. So it’s also a no.
But keep in mind one little detail even if every nation was to put this into practice, then imagine all the untold horrors darlings experience on that day. Yes, darling kidnappings and assaults would be high. But also consider that some of the yanderes might spend the day without laws ensuring their darlings have no one to run back to. Or in some cases, no one to chase them.
Murder would be high on that day, because yes, while it is a yandere purge, wouldn’t yanderes take the opportunity to get rid of some people that could later be threats.
Imagine the fear centered around that one day, that might as well be Valentine’s day, for all those poor darlings, trying to fight to protect themselves. All the yanderes fighting to get their darlings and slay their rivals. And their families try their hardest to protect their darling kin and aid their yandere ones.
It would be better if you were the cause, you’d be able to prepare and plan. It would be worse if you weren’t.
If that was put into practice for the whole of TWST prior to MC’s arrival, then maybe she would feel a lot safer. Because hey, it’s only one day that she’ll be in danger and Crowley’s going to find her way back possibly before that dreaded day. She doesn’t have to worry about endearing herself to them because she’s going to be back home before that day.
But as the days tick down, and the day of the purge draws closer you start to realise how screwed you are. And then one month before that day, over twenty of those horrible red letters come in the mail.
Each of them are different, some sweet and sappy like a love poem, others direct to the point about their plan of your capture, some are downright terrifying, incredibly detailed in either their plans, and about how no matter how hard you’d try to escape it would end in failure, or how they truly felt about their disturbing and obsessive love for you.
At that point, you’d realise how screwed you were. It would be worse than you could ever imagine since you would have no idea of what to expect, or what they were capable of.
Either way, someone is going to lose. Whether it’s an easy loss or hard one, that’s just based on luck.

Sam carpenter x reader with the song birds of a feather by Billie eilish maybe friends to lovers
Birds of a Feather
Sam Carpenter x fem!reader
Summary: you and Sam are best friends. until you aren’t
Words: 8k
A/n: ok we kinda went off script with this one but i’d describe this as friends to lovers with a few bumps. is friends to not friends to lovers a trope?
A/n 2: i have something to confess. i’ve never seen scream 5. that might be very evident in this
Warnings: intoxication, usage of drugs, Richie Kirsch, Sam deals with some hard shit, crying, ghostface aftermath, not a warning but Tara is a cutie, mention of a dead parent, maybe ooc sam cause i’ve never written for her and probably should’ve made a less lengthy fic so i could get a feel for her character but wtv 🤷♀️

“Hey- What the heck! What was that for, Sam!?” The young boy yells when Sam pushes him off the swing
“You jerk broke my friend’s crayons. She really liked them!” Sam points a finger at the boy, who’s now dusting himself off
“Yeah? What’re you going to do about it?” He smiles a wicked grin. At least, what would be considered wicked in kindergarten
“I’ll never let you on the swings again!”
“I don’t see your name written on it!”
“That’s cause you’re stupid and can’t read!”
Tears well up in the young boys eyes. He blinks them away, running to tell on the teacher him and Sam share. Sam didn’t care, he deserved the insults anyways
“Sammy? What did you do to Carlos?” You run up to Sam, who’s glaring at the back of Carlos’ head from her seat on the swing
“I pushed him. He broke the crayons your dad gave you!” The Carpenter pulls you into a hug, not wanting to let go
“I know he did Sammy, but it’s not nice to push people” You reciprocate the hug, pulling back a bit to see Sam’s face and how her forehead was wrinkled with her eyebrows furrowed. You thought she was cute like one of your stuffed animals
“It’s not nice to break something that doesn’t belong to you! I did it because he was mean to you”
“You’re going to get in trouble! Mrs. Poppy doesn’t know you were trying to protect me”
“Then I’ll tell her, and Carlos will get in trouble too”
“Samantha Carpenter.” Your teacher’s voice was stern. Nothing like the sweet teacher you were used to. You backed away from Sam’s hug but you don’t go far. You hold her tiny hand with your own and make sure to stay close, rubbing her hand in hopes of comfort
“Is it true you pushed Carlos off the swings and said some mean things?”
“Yeah, but he was being mean to (Y/n) first! He broke her new crayons her dad got her! Mrs. Poppy, (Y/n) was really sad” Your dad couldn’t get you many new things due to being a single father. Especially new school supplies. Usually you’d reuse the crayons you didn’t lose or break from previous years or borrow some of Sam’s
On most days you took the bus home with Sam while your dad was off working his ass off to get you dinner every night. Your dad and Sam’s dad were good friends so Mr and Mrs. Carpenter didn’t mind taking care of you until your dad was able to pick you up from their house. Luckily you two lived in the same neighborhood. Some days you thought all of the stars aligned for you and Sam to be friends
“Is this true?” Your teacher shoots a look at the boy next to her. While your teacher was the nicest woman you ever met, she had a deadly glare. You were happy you weren’t on the receiving end of that stare
“N-No…”
“Carlos if I find out you’re lying, you’re going to be sharing the same punishment as Sam.” Mrs. Poppy seems to calm down a bit, entering her nice teacher mode once again
“F-Fine! I did break her crayons” Carlos pouts, crossing his arms
“Thank you for telling the truth, but what you did was wrong. You also did something wrong, Sam. Instead of pushing Carlos off the swing, you could’ve told me and I would have taken care of it” Your teacher bends down to look at the two kids in the eyes
“Sorry, Mrs. Poppy” Sam and Carlos say in unison
“Thank you, you two. I know you two are good kids and know what’s right”
Your teacher leaves with Carlos next to her and you can hear her faintly ask why the boy broke your crayons in the first place
“I like having you as a friend, Sammy” You hug the girl, who’s long since stopped swinging
“I like having you as a friend too, (Y/n)!” Sam beams. Her smile was one of your favorite things ever
“Can we play house?”
“Yeah! I’ll bring my bear next time so she can be our baby!”
//-//
“I can’t believe you can name your sister!” You were over at Sam’s house a few months after her baby sister was born. You didn’t know what to call Sam’s little sister considering… she didn’t really have a name. It was up to Sam to pick a name but of course she was a Carpenter, wanting the best name for her sister. As a result, her baby sister had no name
Until today, that is. Sam was finally making a decision today
“I don’t know what her name is going to be yet” Sam reaches out a finger to her baby sister who happily grabs onto it with curiosity
“She likes you a lot, huh?”
“She knows I’m her sister”
“Maybe I could help you come up with a name! What’s your favorite letter?”
“I like the first letter of your name but I don’t want it to be that! I need to think of something different”
“I know you’ll think of a wonderful name, darling.” Sam’s mom strokes her on the head as she rocks the small baby in her arms
“Do you have another favorite letter?” You ask
“Uh… I like T?”
“What about Triceratops!” You giggle
“Her name can’t be Triceratops, silly!” Sam smiles
“Tennis?”
“(Y/n), those aren’t names” The now older Carpenter giggles along with you
“What about Taylor? Oh! There’s a girl in our class named Thalia?”
“I want it to be different, though! I like those names but Tara needs to be special.” Sam’s eyes go wide in surprise. Maybe her brain just knew her baby sister was supposed to be named Tara
“Tara?” You repeat. “That’s a pretty name! Hi little Tara!” You wave at the baby in her mom’s arms
“Is this official? Is Tara your choice, Sam?”
“Yeah! Tara is a nice name. She looks like her name would be Tara”
“She does, doesn’t she? Such a pretty name you chose, Sam. Honey, come here! We have our daughter’s name!” Mrs. Carpenter yells for her husband
You don’t think you’ve ever seen Sam smile so wide before
//-//
“Hey, Sam?”
“What’s up?”
“Aren’t you scared of middle school?“
“No, why would I be? Middle school should be scared of me” That was your Sam alright. The most fearless person you knew. As far as you knew, she was scared of absolutely nothing. Not even the dark. Which is why you were reluctant to stay outside on your trampoline after sunset. Which is also why you were curled next to Sam as she pointed out all the different stars
“What if we stop being friends?”
“Don’t be stupid, (Y/n)” The Carpenter pinches your cheek and you yelp while giggling, shoving her hand away
“If we stop being friends, which we won’t, I promise I’ll let you have all of my stuffed animals”
“Woah, really?”
“Yes, really
“Every single one of them?”
“Yes, every single one of them” Sam rolls her eyes
“Even Ghostie?” Ghostie was the panda stuffed animal you got Sam for her eighth birthday. Technically your dad bought it for her but you picked it out
“What! You’re not supposed to take a gift back, I like Ghostie”
“Well, you can give me all of your stuffed animals and I’ll just give Ghostie back to you”
“That makes no sense, why wouldn’t you just let me keep it?”
“Cause then you wouldn’t have given me all of your stuffed animals and kept your promise”
“You’re weird, (Y/n)”
“Hey, so are you! That’s why we’re friends”
“Yeah, I guess so” Sam giggles
The sliding door to your house opens and both you and Sam turn to look who’s there. It’s your dad
“Hey, girls! Sam, your parents are leaving now. Best you go with them, eh?”
“Okay! Thank you, Mr. (Y/l/n)” The Carpenter waves to your dad
“Wait, let me go with you inside! It’s scary out here”
//-//
“Sam! What if we get caught out here?” Your words held concern but you couldn’t stop laughing as Sam dragged you under the bleachers
“Shhh! They’re gonna catch us!” The Carpenter put a hand over your mouth and put one over hers so she’d also stop laughing when both of you sat down on the underside of the bleachers where the grass was
Both you and Sam were currently in seventh grade but there was an eighth grade couple that was constantly terrorizing the younger kids. Sam being Sam, she wanted to end their reign.
How did she want to end their reign? By breaking the two up. Sam slipped a note in both of their lockers about meeting to break up during one of their classes, causing both of them to skip. Your job was to lead a teacher to their meetup and if everything went right, then they would be successfully broken up and in detention.
Both of you hear footsteps and see the couple at the meetup spot. The teacher wasn’t far away, all you had to do was rile him up a little and run away. Did you feel a little bad? Maybe. But in your defense the couple was always making out in the hallways and made everyone passing by uncomfortable. For gods sake, it was middle school! Not high school
You and Sam were far enough away you couldn’t hear them but their body language was enough for the both of you to understand. Your plan was going perfectly. You and Sam were more the vigilante type, not the heroes or the villains
The couple exchanged pointed looks and flailing arms, hopefully arguing about the note. You and Sam wrote… not the nicest things in there
The teacher eventually arrives out of breath but the couple is too busy yelling each other to notice how he’s standing over them. He looks to clear his throat and to their horror, they stop fighting. Success!
“Yes! We did it!” Sam says a little too loudly from the position you two were in. Their heads turn in your direction and you know you’re caught when the teacher stars walking towards you two
“Hey! What’re you two doing there under the bleachers?” His ragged voice yells
Shit.
//-//
“Sam? What’s wrong?” You run to the Carpenter, who’s outside under a tree eating her lunch. Usually she’d wait for you but today seemed different
“Get away from me, (Y/n).”
“Sam, don’t be like that. You know me, you can tell me what’s wrong.” You and Sam didn’t share too many classes in eighth grade. Even then, your friendship still didn’t seem to falter. You’d still hang out after school and help each other study. Sam lashing out at you was never really a problem you two had
“No! You don’t know anything.” Sam shoves you away when you try to put your hand on her shoulder. “You’re useless.”
“Sam, you don’t mean that. Please just tell me what’s wrong?”
“You wouldn’t understand. You don’t understand anything.”
“Yes I do! We always talk to each other, Sammy. Even if I’m not going to understand, I can still listen”
“Don’t say that stupid name.”
“I thought you liked Sammy?”
“See, that’s the thing with you! You’re always so stuck in the past. I don’t want to talk to you anymore.”
“You’re not being very nice right now”
“Yeah? Well you can deal with it.” The last thing you expect Sam to do is push you onto the ground into a patch of dirt.
“We’re done. I’m not your friend anymore.”
“Sam- we can talk about this” Tears pool in your eyes. You try to get up but all that happens is a crawl
“We can’t. You’re weak and pathetic and can’t do anything without me.”
Sam doesn’t look back when you say her name through tears. Sam doesn’t look back when she hears a few laughs and whispers directed at you. Sam doesn’t look back.
//-//
“Heyyyyy (Y/n)!” Sam’s voice slurs over the phone. It was almost one in the morning, what the hell was this girl doing? Not to mention this is the first time she’s even talked to you since middle school. And yet, you still answered without hesitation. Damn you really needed to grow a backbone
“Sam? What’s going on?”
“Nothingggggg whut’re y’doin?”
“I was trying to go to sleep then you called me. Where are you?”
“Why’d y’wanna know? You’re not my momma!”
“Are you drunk? Sam, you’re underage!”
“No fun… I’m wif my friends! We at a partayyy!”
“Whose house are you at?” Grabbing your keys, you race to the door. Your dad was asleep and you only had your learners permit but you couldn’t just hang up on your Sam like that.
“Uh… Tristan? He’s in our uh… what class is he in?”
“Math. Tristan from math, got it” You knew where he lived. You tutored the guy as requested by his parents but he paid you more money to stop coming to his house than his parents did for your tutoring business. How could you say no to free money?
Thankfully he wasn’t far. Thank god for that, you weren’t one to drive at night
You go faster than you hope but luckily you don’t get pulled over. You really didn’t want to go to overnight jail and face your dad the next morning but surely he would understand the circumstances you were in. He knew you, he knew Sam, he knew the devotion.
At least that’s what you told yourself on the way to Tristan’s house
You could hear the house blasting bad music from about four blocks away. It was a wonder how the police hadn’t shown up yet. Unless he paid off them too. You wouldn’t put it past the guy
Were you invited? No. But in all the movies you’ve watched - said movies being Mean Girls - random people just showed up and nobody cared enough to kick them out. So you walked up to the door like you were invited and instantly started looking for Sam
The music was so loud you could feel it in your lungs and couldn’t hear your thoughts. You couldn’t imagine this was the scene Sam was willing to put herself in but then again you hadn’t talked to her in years. Maybe under all those layers she was a party animal at heart
You internally laugh at the thought. Like hell Sam’s actually a party animal
After a bit you find Sam snorting some drug that probably shared the name with a sexually transmitted disease. Grabbing the sleeve of her shirt, you drag her out of the house while her friends groan and call you a party pooper.
“Hey! Wh- what’s wrong wif you!?”
“We’re going home, Sam. I’m taking you home”
“No! T-Tara can’t see me. Wanna go somewhere else…” Sam struggles against your grip. She’s always been stronger than you but in her intoxicated state you could probably carry her like a sack of potatoes if you tried hard enough
“Fine, I’ll take you to my house. You can spend the night”
“Noooo, wanna party…”
“We’re going home, Sam.”
In all of your years of friendship with Sam, she’s never seen you so stern before. The Carpenter keeps her mouth shut for the rest of the car ride.
After lots of trial and error, you eventually get Sam out of your car and into your bedroom with much difficulty. Thankfully your dad was the heaviest sleeper you knew. You search for a shirt and shorts that fit Sam, ignoring her protests of not wanting to sleep
Against your better judgment, you now have your intoxicated ex-best friend in your bed as her sobriety was nowhere to be found
“Why did you call me, Sam? Even in your state I know you couldn’t do that on accident”
“Ugh, friends made me. Wan’ me t’call my first crush”
“What?” You’re taken aback. Did you hear her correctly?
“Tired… m’sleepy”
You sigh, bringing your hand to Sam’s face to stroke her cheek. Your heart breaks when the older Carpenter leans into your hand like a touch starved cat. You wished things would go back to normal but Sam was stubborn. She wouldn’t let you in no matter how many times you tried.
“Go to sleep, Sam. I hope I’ll see you in the morning” You’re only met with small snores
You wanted to hate Sam. You wanted to hate Sam with all your heart for pushing you away and not even looking at her sister anymore
You wanted to hate Samantha Carpenter so badly but you couldn’t
//-//
It’s nine thirty in the morning when you hear a knock at your door. It was a Saturday. Who the hell was up this early? Rubbing the sleep from your eyes and attempting to smooth out your hair with your hands, you begrudgingly walk downstairs to the door. Your dad was at work already and usually you weren’t up at this hour
Looking through the peephole, you don’t expect to see Tara Carpenter in tears at your door.
“Hey what happened, sweetheart?” You bend down to meet Tara’s eyes. They were red and puffy, evidently showing she was crying a lot. And a lot before she got to you
“S-Sam, she-“ Your heart broke when Tara couldn’t let out even a few words without hiccuping and sniffling
“You can tell me later, darling. How about we drink some juice and you can tell me what’s happening, yeah?”
“No! S-Sam’s…” There seemed to be a never ending amount of tears flowing. “She’s gone, (Y/n). She’s gone and she’s gone for good.” Tara runs into your arms, staining your shirt with her tears.
“What do you mean, baby?”
“M-Mom said Sam left a-and isn’t coming back…” Your heart breaks when Tara’s breathing gets quicker and isn’t able to catch her breath
You pick up the younger Carpenter, taking her to your couch. Tara’s on your lap and you’re holding her just like her mom probably did when she was born. It was something your dad always did, even when you got older. Sometimes people just needed to be babied no matter how old they were.
So you start rocking Tara. She’s holding onto you like you’re the only thing keeping her alive and you move her ear to your heart. Placing her head under your chin, you hum a tune that was familiar to you. A lullaby your mom always sung to you before she died
You kiss Tara’s forehead with tears in your eyes. You saw how Sam changed and you couldn’t help her. You knew this day was going to come and you couldn’t stop it. But how could you?
When Sam looked at you with such hatred and anger, you’d wonder if she was still the same Sam that pushed Carlos because he broke your new crayons. When you saw her high out of her mind with people that didn’t care about her, you’d wonder if she was the same Sam that watched the stars with you on your trampoline. When you looked at Sam all you could see was what you two were. Was your Sam even still in there there?
You felt disgusted with yourself. You could’ve done something and yet you did nothing.
You’d never see best friend again and Tara would only remember her sister as hateful and unloving. Memories of Sam would go sour until you only had Tara and Tara only had you as a reminder of who Sam used to be.
When the younger Carpenter sees you also crying, she somehow manages to hug you tighter than she already has. What a lovely girl Tara was.
“A-Are you okay, (Y/n)?” The brunette says in a small voice
“Can I be honest with you, Tara?” You earn a nod from the small girl
“No. I’m not okay. But you know what? I’ve got you and you got me. Thank you for telling me.”
“(Y/n)?”
“Yeah?”
“Mom says she isn’t coming back. Sam didn’t talk to me a lot but I miss her.”
“You’ve got such a big heart, Tara. Did you know that? Please don’t ever lose it for me.”
“Will Sam come back?”
Your breath hitches and for a second you’re left without words in your throat and without knowledge about the future.
“Yes… she’ll come back. Sam just doesn’t know it yet.”
Tara’s mom comes storming in a second later with an out of breath angry expression that slowly softens when she sees how her daughter is nestled in your arms
“Tara, you can’t just run away like that. You made me so scared, you know I can’t run as fast as you” Her mom presses a kiss to her forehead
“I had to tell (Y/n), Mom! She’s Sam’s best friend and she deserved to know”
Her mom brought a hand to Tara’s face to wipe a few stray tears. With her other, she placed on your shoulder with a small nod. Sam was gone. She was gone for good.
//-//
Sam spends her first night away from home in her car in a neighborhood she didn’t recognize. The first night Sam leaves, she holds Ghostie in her arms and hopes it’s enough to keep her safe.
//-//
“You’re hiding something”
“What?” You and Tara always hung out ever since Sam left. Her mom hasn’t been the same since her husband walked out. You offered to be one of Tara’s caretakers to help her mom with the load of being a single mother without Sam or her husband’s support
Your dad wasn’t home very often but every now and again he’d give you random tips on how to raise a teenager. At least, tips he used when he raised you. At first he was skeptical of you taking on the role of caretaker at such a young age but when you employed Tara to use her puppy eyes, it was a losing battle for him.
So Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Tara was all yours. You’ve been doing this since you turned eighteen and could confidently drive without being nervous at all. Also mostly because you couldn’t be her guardian in the eyes of the law under eighteen
There was a void in Tara’s heart and while you couldn’t fully replace her sister, the least you could do was be there. Which is how you knew something was up when she started picking at one of the things she loved so dearly. Your cooking.
“I know you’re hiding something, squirt”
“You’re crazy, I’m not hiding anything” Tara scoffs
“Hey, I’m not decades older than you. I know when you’re lying” You hated pulling the ‘I used to be your age’ card but now you’re realizing how effective it is when you’re only six or seven years older than Tara
Tara throws her head back, groaning in what seems to be frustration and covering her face. You can’t hold back your snicker. The younger Carpenter was always one for theatrics
“You don’t have to tell me but I could really help you, you know? With how super knowledgeable I am, as you know”
“Knowledgeable my ass, you didn’t know your microwave had a popcorn button until I told you”
“In my defense, I heard you’re not even supposed to use the popcorn button for popcorn”
“Then why is it called a popcorn button?”
“I dunno. Maybe the same reason why Greenland is called Greenland”
“What?”
“Deception. The guy who found Greenland named it that cause he wanted more people to come over. I bet he was lonely”
“Why do you know that?” Tara says in between laughs
“No clue, but we’re getting off topic!” You smile. “The point is, you shouldn’t feel like you have to keep secrets from me.” You reach over to pinch Tara’s cheek and she tries to swat your hand away, ultimately failing. “Well, big secrets. If you cheated on a test or something I don’t care that much”
“Thanks, (Y/n)”
“No problemo, squirt”
So now you were back to silently eating dinner except for your TV playing some sitcom Tara liked. You could handle the quietness. Even if Tara didn’t want to tell you, at least she knew you were there to listen. That’s all that mattered
“(Y/n), I think I like a girl.”
//-//
“What was Sam like?” Tara says out of the blue. “I was thirteen when she left but she didn’t really talk to me. What was she like… before that?”
It was another weekend night that consisted of spending time with Tara. The question catches you off guard
“I don’t think you’d believe me, squirt”
“Well I wanna know anyways. Even if i believe it or not”
“Did you know Sam named you?”
“She did?”
“Yeah, Sam named you Tara. You were unnamed for a while before she came up with anything.”
“Mom said she was mean. Is that true?”
“I mean yeah, but not entirely. When you’re friends with Sam, she’d be the nicest person you’ve ever met. Hell, she’d probably kill for anyone she loved. But when someone messed with a person she loved, nothing could stop her from making her loved one feel better”
“I wish I could’ve experienced it.”
“Trust me, you did. You just don’t remember it. One time when you were little, a kid that was around Sam’s age at time pushed you into the mud at the playground and Sam was furious” You laugh
“You cried and Sam could hear you from where we were playing soccer. She found him and kicked his ass so hard he crawled back to his mommy so we took you and booked it out of there”
“She did that?” Tara covers her mouth laughing, failing to cover it up
“I remember it like it was yesterday, squirt. Sam gave you a piggy back ride and you were giggling the entire time we ran home.”
//-//
“Fuck, Tara! Shit, I came as fast as I could. Are you okay? Oh my god, of course you’re not okay.” You barged into Tara’s hospital room without any concern of who else was in there. You took her face in your hands and scanned for anything wrong until you brought her into a bone crushing hug. “Sorry, stupid question. Holy shit I’m so happy you’re alive, squirt. I am never letting you out of my sight again. Okay maybe in the future I will, but the future is not now! Right now I’m never leaving you again.”
“You’re such a fighter, you know that? Holy shit you must’ve been so scared. Tara you’re the strongest person I know, did you know that?” There are tears in your eyes threatening to spill. You don’t even notice there are other people in the room.
“Deep breaths, (Y/n). I’m okay. Look, I’m right here” Tara takes one of your hands and puts it against her heart. Your eyes can’t hold in your tears any longer. When you cried, you rambled. Tara was ready for the storm.
“Fuck you’re such a sweet girl, Tara. Even when you’re lying in a hospital bed you care about me. I don’t know what monster would do this to you! He obviously doesn’t know what a blessing to this world you are. Please promise you’ll never let anyone stop you from being the beautiful sweet girl you are.”
There it was.
You felt a hand rub your back and your arm. You assumed it was Tara. Until you heard a hum that wasn’t Tara’s. Until you realized this person had rough hands. And oddly smelt like…
“Sam?” Your head whips around
“Hey, (Y/n). I… I missed you.”
“Sam?” You let go for a second and bring your hand to her face. Not in a cute or romantic holding-her-cheek-way, no, you pinch at her cheeks and nose with a questioning look. You poke at Sam’s forehead and nose, still probably in disbelief. Yeah, you were still her (Y/n).
“Please don’t tell me both of you are dead and I’m actually in a psych ward and this is all a dream” You whisper and you can hear Tara laugh behind you
“No, this is all very real.” Sam smiles, taking your hand off her face and gently putting it back by your side. Your eyes go wide and you whip around to look back at the younger Carpenter
“Tara, can I take my attention off you for a second? Will you be okay?” You whisper, knowing damn well Sam could hear you
“Yeah I’ll be okay, (Y/n). Go hug Sam.”
You press a kiss against Tara’s hairline and immediately after, launch into Sam’s arms. Tara could feel it again, you were going to start crying and rambling.
“Sam, I can’t believe you’re here! Well of course you’re here. I always knew you’d come back! I knew you wanted to come back. I don’t know why you left, but I hope you achieved your goal and came back because you missed us. Also I’m really mad at you but for the sake of time we can discuss that at a later time.”
There it was.
“You two are close, huh?” You don’t notice there’s a man with curly hair in the room and you raise an eyebrow at Sam
“Yeah, very close” You say
“Sorry, I should introduce you two. (Y/n), this is my boyfriend Richie. Richie, this is (Y/n). My…” Fuck. Sam couldn’t just say you were her best friend after all these years. After she made your life shit, was she even allowed to call you her friend? What if-
“Best friend. Happy to meet you, Richie”
“Likewise” He smiles. There’s a pang of a certain emotion in your chest you can’t quite place
“Well, I’ll be going now. Feel better soon, Tara” Richie waves at the younger Carpenter and gives Sam a kiss before he leaves Tara’s hospital room
“Do you know if my friends are visiting soon?” Tara asks you. Sam doesn’t know how to feel when she sees Tara treating you more like a sister than her. She knew it was wrong. Sam had no right to be treated like a sister after she just up and left all those years ago
“Amber told me she was getting some of your things from her house. The twins are coming over right now, okay? I think you’ll feel better when you see them”
Sam felt like an alien watching you and Tara talk. Watching you two was like watching everything she’s missed. Sam missed almost all of Tara’s high school experience. Arguably one of the most important times to have an older sister. She shouldn’t have been jealous. She wasn’t allowed to be jealous after all she did to you and Tara
“How’re you feeling right now? Anything I need to tell the doctors?”
“No, I’m feeling okay”
“Hey, can I talk to you outside, (Y/n)?” Sam says almost above a whisper
“Yeah, of course.” You turn to face Tara as you walk out her room. “See you in a second, squirt. Don’t run away” The brunette rolls her eyes at your words
“Guess I owe you all my stuffed animals, huh?”
“You still remember that?” You raise an eyebrow at the girl
“I do. I owe you an explanation, don’t I?”
“An explanation would be appreciated” You weren’t mad at Sam per se, just very very very disappointed. Mostly at yourself for letting her leave
“You remember when I yelled at you that day in middle school? I said I didn’t want to talk to you or be your friend anymore? It’s not an excuse, but I have an explanation.”
You nod along to Sam’s story, listening close
“The night before I yelled at you, I found out my dad wasn’t really my dad. I was going through my mom’s diaries I found in the attic and it was the worst thing I’ve ever done. I.. I found out I was-“ Sam doesn’t realize she’s crying until she chokes on her words and your expression falters. Sam remembers you were always good at comforting people
She’d always get bruises and scrapes when she was younger but you were always there to make her feel better. Fuck, she can’t remember why she would ever leave you. You were the perfect best friend. Always an inviting smile and open arms that were ready for hugs. The only one that stuck with Sam through whatever happened.
Sam was at her lowest of lows when you picked her up that night during the party. She remembers wondering why she’d put you so much pain and worry. She smoothed out the wrinkles on your forehead while you were asleep and felt guilty she was probably the cause of them. That night when you picked up Sam from that party and you had your arms wrapped around her, Sam asked herself why she would ever push you away. She loved everything about you. She loved you.
In her drunken state she remembers wanting to fade away into your memory. At least then you’d remember the Sam that played tag with you and not the one that snorted or drank away her pain. It was the same night she decided to leave everything behind. She decided to leave you behind
But Sam was selfish. She wanted you to tell her not to go. To come back into your arms and for you to tell her everything would be okay. That it didn’t matter she was the bastard child of a serial killer. It wasn’t her fault her dad left. Reassuring her you and Tara would love Sam the same. In a perfect world Sam would’ve still been Tara’s sister and you would’ve been her-
“Hey, look at me. You don’t have to tell me. If this is hurting you so much then I understand why you wanted to run away. What matters is that you came back. You’re strong for that” You pull Sam into your arms, letting her cry into the side of your neck.
Sam didn’t have the heart or the voice to tell you it wasn’t the story making her cry. She feared her voice would fail her and drive you away again. Sam would tell you why she left later
But right now, Sam was happy to be able to bask in your arms once again.
//-//
“Hey, (Y/n)?”
“Mhm?” You and Sam were back at your house getting some things Tara wanted
She requested the teddy bear Amber got her for her birthday, a blanket from her bed, and something better than hospital food. You decided to whip up something quick and simple you knew Tara liked. Frozen orange chicken from the store and fried rice
“I think I can tell you about why I left now.”
“Are you sure? I’m not gonna force you to tell me if it hurts so much to say, Sam”
“No, you of all people deserve to know. Sometimes I can’t believe I’m the same person that said all those horrible things to you and just never talked to you again without explanation.”
“Hey, don’t worry about all that. It’s in the past now and I know you’ve changed. I forgive you-“
“No, (Y/n). You can’t forgive me. You can’t make excuses for me and talk to me like we’re best friends again when I ignored you because I was mad at myself and- and-“ Sam chokes on her words and can’t hide it when you glance at her.
“Oh, Sam…”
“No, you can’t forgive me yet. I betrayed your trust. You can’t forgive me.”
“Sam, I accepted your apology when I saw you in Tara’s hospital room. Whatever you were going to say, I already knew I’d forgive you all the same.”
“Stop saying that, (Y/n). You don’t always have to be nice, you can be mad too.”
“But it’s true, Sam. If I’m mad at someone, I’m mad at myself for not fighting for you harder”
“How can you still look at me even when I left you. Years of friendship, all down the drain because I couldn’t handle being the bastard child of a serial killer that broke her family apart.” You turn off the heat to your stove, walking over to where Sam was curled into herself and sitting near the bottom of the staircase
Taking a seat next to her, you drape your arm around her shoulders and attempt to get her to rest her head on your shoulder. Sam doesn’t let you and fights back.
“Samantha Carpenter, you have been gone for five years. One-thousand eight hundred and twenty-five days, not including leap day. You aren’t allowed to push me away again. If you really want to say sorry, you can start by letting me in.” You take on a faux-mad tone and it seems to work
Slowly, the older Carpenter leans into your shoulder with a sigh. She makes herself comfortable and looks at you through her eyelids. It was weird. Five years out of Woodsboro and four years away from you, yet you still opened up your arms like nothings changed. It was odd. You were odd.
“What’re you thinking about?” You’ve always had a knack for reading Sam’s mind. Whenever she got quiet and her heart looked like it slowed, she was probably thinking
“You.”
“What about me?”
“How I don’t get you”
“What don’t you get about me?”
“I haven’t talked to you in nine years, I show up unannounced, and you’re still acting like we’re best friends even after all this time. I can’t tell if you’re the nicest or weirdest person ever.”
“Can’t I be both?” You smile, trying to lighten the mood. You realize it doesn’t work when Sam shies away from your gaze
“Well, I can be honest. I think it’s because I’m selfish.” That makes Sam look at you again so you decide to keep going
“Of course I’m… disappointed you broke up our friendship and you left without telling me and left your sister and I to believe you were never coming back,” The older Carpenter winces at your words but you don’t let her stop looking at you. Even as you avoid eye contact and place your gaze somewhere else.
“But there’s a part of me that wants everything to go back to normal. I know we’re going to have to talk about it. About us and about why, but right now I think what we need to do is be there for Tara. She’s in the hospital after being attacked by a serial killer and the last thing she needs is her older sister and her best friend fighting. We can do all the yelling and crying and screaming later.”
Taking a breath in, you look back at Sam who’s already looking at you. I’m makes your heart flutter in a way you don’t understand.
“And maybe that’s my excuse. Maybe I never want to cry or yell or scream at you. Maybe I’m putting off the inevitable because I don’t want you to leave again. Maybe Tara is my excuse for not being mad at you. Maybe I’m holding out hope for someone that doesn’t exist anymore. We’re different people than when we were in middle school. I don’t want to cling to a person that doesn’t exist anymore yet here I am, clinging to someone that doesn’t exist like she’s my lifeline. But in all honesty, I don’t think I could stay mad at you for too long. Even if I tried.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.” There’s a silence that passes between you two. You can’t tell if it’s awkward or comfortable silence. You hope it’s the latter
“Do you get me a little more?”
“Well, not entirely. But I think it’s a step.”
“Yeah. Steps are good, aren’t they? Keep you healthy.” Sam smiles at your stupid joke.
You don’t miss how Sam still reminds you of looking like one of your old stuffed animals.
“What was Tara like?”
“What do you mean?” The question catches you off guard. The Carpenter sisters seemed to have that in common
“I missed a lot of her life. What was she like?”
“I don’t think she’s changed a lot. Tara is a sweet girl, she’s got a good head on her shoulders and a good heart in her body.”
“But that’s probably not what you’re asking. Tara was… distraught when you left.” You pick your words carefully. “She ran away from her mom just to tell me you left. She said I deserved to know since I was your best friend. It took a while for her to want to let go of me me. It’s when I knew I just couldn’t let her stay like that forever”
You shakily sigh before continuing. You’d have to acknowledge the elephant in the room eventually and you decided it was going to be now. “I know I’m not her real sister. I hope you’ll forgive me for taking a role that was supposed to-“
“Are you kidding?” Sam quickly cuts you off when she registers what you’re saying. “If anything, I’m happy it was you.” The Carpenter lifts her head up from your shoulder to look at you. To really look at you. “I know she has a good person to look up to. I’m happy you two are close.”
You’re about to respond when your ringtone goes off. The same ringtone you had in high school. Some Evanescence song you remember religiously listening to in school blasts from your phone. Usually it was Tara who found it embarrassing when you had to answer it in public but this time it was you with the reddened cheeks. Scrambling to find your phone in your pocket, you pull it out to see it’s Tara calling you
“Hey squirt. What’s up?”
“Are you guys going to hurry up anytime soon? I’m starving”
“Yeah we’re leaving just now don’t worry about it”
“Okay but my stomach is currently eating itself”
“You’ll live. I’ll see you soon, yeah? Don’t go running anywhere”
“At least I don’t run jokes into the ground until they’re dead… pun not intended”
“Hah! Proof you’re taking after me whether you like it or not”
“Whatever, I’ll see you soon. Run red lights if you have to”
“You got it, boss. See you soon” You pocket your phone, getting up from where you’re sitting. Offering Sam your hand, she takes it and you help her up too
“C’mon, our little girl’s hungry. That’s something you should know, she’s got an appetite the size of an elephant and a metabolism as fast as a cheetah” You smile, putting Tara’s food in a lunchbox you had in a random cabinet somewhere
Sam doesn’t trust her voice to do anything but break so she laughs at your comment and you both leave your house
Sam thinks our little girl has a good ring to it.
//-//
“Oh my god. Tara? Sam?” You narrowly avoided the police yelling at you to get away and the caution tape that prevented you from coming any closer. What used to be a house that held fond memories had been replaced with one that only caused you worry. You couldn’t lose both Tara and Sam. You couldn’t lose your favorite girls.
Sam texted you to come over to Amber’s house. That it was a Ghostface emergency and the speed in which you jumped in your car rivaled The Flash himself
“(Y/n)!” Sam’s voice. You run to the sound, dodging and weaving through the paramedics and police officers telling you to leave
Sam finds you with bags under your eyes and your hair a mess. It looked like you were in your sleepwear. Even though you were just in a band tee and plaid pajama pants, Sam feels the need to wipe the blood off her face and clothes to look a little presentable. You always had that effect for some reason
“Sam.” You breathe a sigh of relief, running into her arms. Your choked sobs reach her ears and it’s the saddest sound she’s ever heard. Sam squeezes you tighter. Maybe if she did she’d never want to leave again
“You’re back and you almost left me again. Don’t you know how mad I would be if you died?” Pulling back, you put both of your hands on Sam’s cheeks like you did so many years ago. “You- you-“
“Hey, shh… I’m here. I’m here, sweetie. See? I’m here and I’m never leaving again.” Sam leans her forehead against yours, putting your hands around her waist so she could wipe the tears away from your face.
“I’m here, yeah? We won. They’re gone now, (Y/n).”
“How’re you sure?”
“They’re dead. Both of the Ghostfaces are dead.”
Sam leans in, awfully close for someone who’s just your best friend. Your mind instantly goes to her boyfriend. You know what’s about to happen so you back away, a little weary. The Carpenter furrows her eyebrows looking a little sad, oddly resembling a kicked puppy.
“What about Ric-?”
“Don’t say his name, it’ll ruin your perfect mouth” Sam cups your cheek, running her face over your bottom lip
You have to fight your body to not get hot at her words and actions. “Yeah but- he’s kind of your boyfriend. Where is he?”
“Ex-boyfriend actually. He’s dead, I killed him.”
“Oh. Am I right for assuming that’s a god thing?”
“Very good. He was one of the Ghostfaces”
“One of? Who’s the other?”
“I think Tara should be the one to tell you”
“Well, I didn’t like Richie to begin with. He gave me an odd feeling”
“Oh yeah? Why’s that?” Sam leans in closer to you, a ghost of a kiss hanging in the air waiting to be taken. Sam smiles against your breath and for a fraction of a second you think your heart has stopped beating.
“He got to kiss you before I did.” Something snaps in Sam when you kiss her. A craving she’s always had, a certain desire finally being filled, or maybe even her dreams coming true.
You hold Sam like she’s about to leave again, pulling her impossibly close. You’re never letting her go again. It’s Sam who pulls away first. She’s out of breath but you lean in to steal more kisses before she smiles against your lips and it’s an image you never want to forget.
“Please, you two have to stop doing this.” You whisper, your eyes going wide. “Where’s Tara?” You pull away from Sam, whipping your head around like it’s going to help you find her quicker
“C’mon, she’s over here. Be careful, don’t squeeze her too hard”
“I’m going to squeeze that girl until she knows how much I love her.”
“You might break one of her ribs, darling”
“Squirt, you’re alive!” You run to Tara as her head whips in your direction. You can feel tears pool in your eyes once again and you’re okay with letting them go.
“(Y/n), I was so scared. A-Amber she- she tried to kill me.”
“What? Amber? Amber as in, your girlfriend?” You say shocked, taking Tara’s face in your hands to look at her
“A-Amber and Richie, they-“
“How about we tell (Y/n) what happened later? We need to make sure everyone is okay, including ourselves. (Y/n) can wait, right?”
“Oh I can wait alright. I’m the best at waiting. You can tell me about it when you’re feeling better”
One of the paramedics call over the Carpenter sisters and by proximity, you tag along. A man is ushering them in an ambulance and you’re also about to hop in before he stops you
“Ma’am, I’m sorry but we can’t let you into the ambulance. We don’t have enough space.”
“That is my little girl and that is my girlfriend. I will either be running every single red light, hang on the top of this ambulance, or so forgive me god for what I’m going to do.”
“O-Of course, Ma’am. You can ride in the ambulance.”
“Thank you, sir. You made a good decision today” You pat his shoulder, taking your seat near Sam. You sling an arm around Sam’s shoulders and reach out to hold Tara’s hand.
“Girlfriend, huh?” Tara weakly smiles, looking between you and her sister.

hi!! could you maybe write for being the younger sibling of dipper and mabel? maybe the reader is like, 9/10 y.o i wonder what they're sibling relationships would be as well as they're relationship with stan and ford

They say a bond between twins is a bond unlike any other, but didn’t mean that dipper or Mabel cared about you any less then they did each other, you were their baby sibling and they were always going to have your back no matter what.
Dipper would be the protective older brother who’s sometimes come across as strict and would often forbid you from joining him and Mabel on monster hunts, stating that you were too young to be doing something as dangerous as hunting monsters.
You’d naturally respond with the fact that technically he and Mabel were also too young to be going head on into monster hunting too, so thereby making the statement redundant and him look like a hypocrite. To which Dipper would agree with you on but still would tell you it was too dangerous for you, he only wants to keep you safe but you had too much of a stubborn spirit to be easily swayed into staying put.
Mabel on the other hand was the chill sibling who’d let you join in the monster hunting any day because she didn’t want you feeling left out. After all it was kinda a family thing to hunt the unknown of gravity falls at this point, so she didn’t see why you shouldn’t come along with her and Dipper because as long as you had the journal with you, you were fine.
You tend to argue with dipper more than Mabel but that’s because dipper tended to take himself too seriously as your older brother while Mabel doesn’t take herself seriously enough. So whenever you and dipper did argue, Mabel tended to be the peace keeper between the two of you or use Waddles as a distraction from your arguing to come together.
Despite all this you, Dipper and Mabel were loyal and faithful to one another that there wasn’t anything any of you wouldn’t do for the other.
Dipper would give up everything to keep you and Mabel safe as he knew you and her would do the same and you did on multiple occasions, saving each other’s lives and so on. You all headed into the unknown together, never once thinking of leaving the other behind because if one of you were to go down, the other two would rush to your side and pick you back up.
You helped dipper decode stuff and listen to him drone on about Wendy from time to time while playing dungeons, dungeons and emore dungeons with him and Grunkle Ford.
You’d help Mabel bedazzle everything in sight and spend time with her, Candy and Grenda on the odd occasion of doing karaoke with her and grunkle Stan whenever the occasion calls for a bit of fun.
You were best friends with Dipper and Mabel as much as you were siblings and that was the best kind of relationship you had.
Also if Mabel had waddles then you have a pet raccoon or maybe an axolotl like Ford once did.
If dipper was similar to Ford
And if Mabel was similar to Stanley
Then you were the perfect balance of both of them. Stubborn and sometimes silly like Stan but curious and observant like Ford.
Stan and Ford could clearly see bits and pieces of themselves in you like they could with Dipper and Mabel, with the only difference being that you weren’t a twin nor had a twin but that didn’t stop either Grunkle from wanting to spend time with you.
They had to play rock, paper, scissors against one another to see who’d get to spend time with you first, only for Stan to come out the victor.
Stan would teach you how to box first and foremost so that if anyone tried anything with you, they’d get decked in the face from a vicious right hook. He just wants you to be able to protect yourself even if you were only 9/10 it didn’t make a difference to him really.
Teaches you on how to con people out of their money, lie effortlessly and make quick get aways or even how to get out of handcuffs without trying. Did he once give you a fishing hat with your name stitched on it for the soul purpose of taking you fishing with him when Dipper was with Ford and Mabel was with Candy and Grenda? Yes, he wanted something only you and him could do together that was just yours and his.
Cuz it was either that or commit arson and or property damage to other competitors.
Now with Ford he’ll probably have you be outside with him and documenting strange looking mushrooms and or flowers that you’d come across. It sounds boring but it’s quite fun if you came across fairies and the like, however the moment Ford sees that you were about to fall into a Fae trap, he’s picking you up and getting you as far away from it as he could.
Just like Stan, Ford wanted something that was just for you and him, sure he and Dipper go monster hunting, and he and Mabel dressed up as witches once, but he wanted something he could do with just you.
You’d bond over the fact that you both had/have a pet axolotl.
You and Ford probably took a break from your joint documenting to make flower crowns for one another while having a small picnic in the woods. It was peaceful and relaxing to you but Ford was keeping an eye out to make sure nothing would disturb your little picnic, while looking as menacingly as he could with a cute flower crown on his head.
If you both found a flower that was never seen before, you can bet your ass that Ford is naming it after you, no questions asked.
Stan and Ford are just as protective of you as they are the twins and they can and will step in between you and whoever is making you uncomfortable, all the while keeping you safely behind them as Stan whips out his brass knuckles and Ford shows off the gun on his hip in a silent threat.
Nobody messes with their family and they’ll make sure that message is loud and clear.
Bonus; Bill would probably try to manipulate you into thinking that neither dipper, Mabel, Stan or Ford cared about you cuz twins will look out for each other always but you were the spare sibling that gets forgotten, Insisting Stan and Ford’s brother as reason as to why but you knew your family better then a sentient one eyed triangle did and know that your family would always come through for you time and time again.
And they have and they always will no matter what.
