Owned Restaurant Profit Increase

Two versions to download:

-Double profit: SFS / GD

We all know how hard it is to maintain a restaurant business in The Sims 2, right? You barely make any money and, if you have some employees to get paid hourly, there's a good chance you'll even end up losing money. Well, once again I've been digging through the files for a while until I've found something to fix this issue. I have to say, this is not the ideal solution at all, but it still makes the business actually profitable, so I thought it might be worth sharing anyways. This tiny mod edits just one single BCON value, and it's super easy to tune to your liking! A lot of technical details, a tutorial on how to tune it, and a big testing research under the cut (bear with me please, I promise it's worth reading).

So the way an unmodded game moves money in a restaurant business goes like this: the moment your waiter puts the dish on the customer table, you get a small percentage of the price of the food deducted. Then, once the customer finishes eating, they pay you the full price of that food (based on how expensive or cheap you set your business). Simple enough, right? Ideally, the best solution would be increasing the price of the food, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't find those values anywhere. So what's left on the equation? Yup, that small percentage you get deducted first. I was lucky enough to find that one, so changing it to a negative value means you actually get extra paid first. And that money comes from nowhere, the customer doesn't pay extra, they only pay the price of the actual food. That works for me!

As a quick example, in a new business with 0 stars, if you keep the default price on average, you always gain 28 simoleons for serving a bowl of Mac N Cheese. However, you also get deducted 4 simoleons first, so it's actually 24 simoleons per customer. That's just sad. The Double version of my mod makes it so you get 22 simoleons first, and then the customer pays those 28 simoleons. That's a total of 50 simoleons per customer. More than double the profit, not bad! The Triple version gives you a total of 71, pretty self explanatory. The numbers don’t match exactly with double or triple profits, but I didn’t want to spend that much time finding the exact value to make it exactly double or triple, you know, especially considering there might be other factors that affect your business income. I’m not that good at maths to be honest... orz

So how do you tune this? All you need is SimPe. Open the package, click on the BCON file and edit line number 14, on the Dec box. The default Maxis value was 20. I changed it to -100 to get roughly double the profit, and -200 to get triple profit. If you want to increase the profit even more, make sure you keep it negative when changing the value! Then just click Commit and Save. Done!

One extra note before I continue. The extra money you get with the mod does count for the balance you see on the UI menu for the business on the top right. So if you like to keep track of your income, the mod will take effect on those bars. However, it won’t count for things like the First Simoleon prize thingy. So for now I’m not really sure if this extra money would count for other things such as Lifetime Wants related to gaining money. I haven’t tested it that much.

Okay, now you know almost everything you need to know about this mod. If you want to read some ramblings on how I tested this, keep reading. Otherwise, you’re good to go!

So, let’s talk testing, because that’s something I actually enjoy doing. I built a simple restaurant lot, with about 5 tables available. The conditions were:

-3 Sims from my household to work as host, waiter and chef. No external employees, so I don’t need to keep track of extra salaries to pay.

-Schedule is roughly 15:00 - 22:00.

-New business level 0. Prices were kept at the default average.

-I didn’t use the Basic Sell interaction. If the customer didn’t want to eat at my restaurant, then so be it.

-The chef had 10 points of cooking skill, so I could add any food to the menu. However, I only chose one food to cook to keep the profit numbers as consistent as possible.

For the first case, I chose cooking only Mac N Cheese, a very cheap food that makes almost no money at all. It doesn’t require any cooking skill points. Mac N Cheese gives you 28 simoleons when the Sim pays. -In an unmodded game, you also lose 4 simoleons, so it’s 24 simoleons per customer. After running the business for the set schedule, I got 240 simoleons of profit. Pretty disappointing! If I had employees to pay, I would only have a few simoleons to spare, if any at all. -With my Double version of the mod, you get an extra 22 simoleons, making a total of 50 simoleons per customer. After running the business with the mod in, I got 400 simoleons. Not much, but hey, it’s something.

For the second case, I chose Filet Mignon. This food is pretty fancy, and it requires max cooking skill. Filet Mignon gives you 83 simoleons when the Sim pays. I also noticed the customers take way less time to eat it compared to the Mac N Cheese, so that’s an extra bonus to make the business run faster. -In an unmodded game, you also lose 13, so it’s 70 simoleons per customer. After running the business, I got 630 simoleons of profit. Not bad, but considering you need to max out the cooking skill, it’s almost insulting spending so many hours just to get that… -With my Double version of the mod, you get an extra 65 simoleons, making a total of 148 (!) simoleons per customer. After running the business with the mod in, I got 1036 simoleons. Okay, nooow we’re talking! That's the fancy restaurant status I like to see.

You might be wondering why these numbers are so inconsistent. Well, sometimes my lovely waiter decided to drop the tray on the customers, poor guy. That added to the randomness of how customers decide to enter the restaurant or not, and if the game sits more than one customer on the table or just one of them, if someone gets stuck for a while losing time… all of that can end up making the results a bit inconsistent. That being said, I had better luck when I was running the business without the mod in, yet I still got quite a lot more money with the mod in. I didn’t keep track of the numbers for the Triple version, but as you can probably guess, that one would be even more profitable.

One last case I wanted to test and compare: a completely different type of business, a games and entertainment one using the Bandatron ticket machine. In that scenario, I got 21 simoleons per customer, each hour. So after that schedule of 15:00 - 22:00, I got a total of 789 simoleons! All my sim did during those hours was bartending. That shows how easy it is to run a business with a ticket machine, and the biggest advantage is that you don’t have to pay employees if you don’t need them, and you don’t need any skills at all. Just plop down that machine, put some objects, relax and let the money flow by itself.

So yeah, in conclusion, Eaxis really messed up programming the restaurant businesses, there’s no doubt about it. Hopefully my mod helps balance things out. And if you think it's still too low on the incomes department, you can always tune it to your liking! As far as I know, this should not conflict with anything, but if you run into any issues, let me know and I’ll try my best to fix it asap.

There have been a lot of negative posts about how this season turned out bc of the rat grinders exclusively and everyone is entitled to their opinions on the season. But in light of it, I’m gonna throw out some positives about this season 💖

Sophomore year will always hold a special place in my heart because of the Fabian arc but Junior year might be my favorite fantasy high season overall. I loved learning about Ankarna and Cassandra. I thought I’d be bummed out not seeing some of my fave npcs but the downtime mechanic and the stress tokens added sO much. The Porter & Jace reveal was incredible. KRISTEN’S CAMPAIGN ARC!!! Fabian and Mazey!? K2 and all the blimey shenanigans 👏 Everything with Wanda Childa and Ruben and fig’s complicated women podcast was sooooo funny. I genuinely laughed harder this season than I have with any other d20 season I’ve seen.

I feel like with this season they really hit their stride with pacing too. It felt a lot more fluid with how we rolled into combat most of the time. I loved that first party of the year and seeing Adaine become the party wizard. After ep 18 it makes me love the party with the Oisin missing his shots so much more bc he got in that nasty little one liner later. I adored that the rat grinders were essentially a red herring to keep the bad kids looking elsewhere to take the heat off Porter and Jace a bit.

We didn’t see much from all of them, and we didn’t see nearly enough about Lucy, but I really loved the Rat grinders as in school rivals for the bad kids. Ruben was hands down my favorite but goddamn did I also love how much of a girlfailure Kip was. I loved seeing her rage out and I hope we get to see her really go nuts in the finale too. I really really warmed up to Mary Ann last episode with her tugging on Jace’s shirt and saying she didn’t feel good and then seeing her rage when her strawberry got destroyed. She’s so fascinating to meeee. I loved everything with Buddy and Kristen. I wish they had more scenes together. And while I’m talking about the Dawns, that entrance from Bobby Dawn as the new cleric teacher made my skin crawl in the best way. I loved Kristen calling him frumpy and sad on her teacher evaluation too- and holy shit Fig meeting Ankarna for the first time? Ankarna being the inspiration Fig needed to make music again too?

The incredible art from Cait May this season was hands down one of my FAVORITE d20 artist collabs ever. Just overall improved designs for everyone that just make so much more sense for their characters and art for new characters that made me adore them even more. Also holy shit the Porter maxi is genuinely my favorite mini that’s ever been featured on the show. I’m typically not into how the minis look in general, they always look a lil goofy to me but goddamn when they hit, they fuckin HIT.

And speaking of Porter, I really got endeared to him this season. Yeah he turned out evil and always has been a dick to gorgug and is definitely a shit teacher, but before the reveal I loved his training with Fig and Zara. One thing about Fantasy high is that I just love a lot of the teachers. My two faves this season being Terpsichore and Henry! They’re both so dedicated to their students and are such a specific type of teacher that you’ve definitely met before in real life. Like all my favorite math teachers back in school were so much like Henry and that made me love him even more.

Of course my #1 favorite thing about the world of Spyre is the religion aspect and how Brennan and Ally both approach it. That scene with Ally connecting with Yolanda and Lucy to allow them some comfort in the afterlife was so beautiful. Kristen’s talks with Bucky throughout the season were very touching and hit very close to home as someone that grew up in a religious household and doesn’t connect with the divinity I was raised on. Just- wow wow wow. I also really love that despite the breakup, Tracker and Kristen still have really interesting convos about divinity even if they don’t agree.

I loved seeing different dynamics in the bad kids too, I love the huge sibling energy that Fabian and Adaine have and the bond that Kristen and Fig have. I love how interwoven all the bad kids feel as a group. I love the little quirks that they all have, and I loved all the fandom posts about them like the sharing clothes posts and the one about how everyone lets Riz crawl on them to get better vantage points. I love Riz’s wall of text breaking down to gorgug about how much he appreciates him. Him calling gorgug a sweetie almost made me cry. I of course love all the parent/child moments this season. I loved the bad kids finally healing Lydia and seeing how happy it made Ragh. I LOVE Aelwyn and all her cats 🤧 I loved seeing Baron again and I loved how the bad kids got to the funhouse version of mordred through riz’s briefcase. I love seeing Adaine and Sandralynn bond. I loved finding out that Sandralynn and Sklonda go out for drinks and are friends. I just 💖 and goddamn, Ayda’s message to Fig and how Zara helped to surprise Fig with it. I love how Bill and Pok are such proud dads of their boys and I hope they’re doing some bonding over drinks in the after life.

And I cannot end this post without saying that I loved how cinematic this season felt too. It had INCREDIBLE imagery that you could easily visualize. Everyone at the table was in their element this time around from a role playing and a strategic standpoint. Everyone had their moment to shine and something important to do this season that fed back into the main plot. So thank you to Brennan and the intrepid heroes for giving us another killer season. After the season ended I was planning to finish Starstruck and Neverafter but I might just rewatch Junior year all over again just to get it out of my system.

What do you think the villains like to read?

Giovanni: Giovanni doesn’t have much time to read for leisure, or to keep up with what’s popular that he might like. If he has the time for it, he’ll read whatever is suggested to him by whoever’s around to suggest something. He generally prefers television since his brain gets enough of a workout running his criminal empire, but if he had time off and weren’t getting that, he’d use books to make up the difference.

Maxie: Maxie is well-read. Very well-read. Unfortunately he’s also very set in his ways and prone to interpreting what he reads in a way that confirms his worldview. So yes, he’s read a ton on geology, and yes, he could hold his own with Steven Stone in a debate about rocks, but none of that will convince him that throwing rocket fuel in a volcano is a bad idea. He doesn’t have a ton of time for fiction, but he does like it, especially alternate histories.

Archie: Archie may not be as loud about his intellect as Maxie is, but he’s as well-read on ocean life and ecosystems as Maxie is on geology and land development, and he’s very passionate about it. He’s not as blinded by bias as Maxie (still pretty bad though), but Maxie has a bit more breadth to his knowledge. Archie likes action novels as well, especially post-apocalypse-related ones.

Cyrus: Cyrus researches both for work and for leisure. He’s read a lot about myth and engineering, as well as any information he could access on how other evil teams were run. He’s the type of person to read everything there is to read about very niche aspects of his interests just out of curiosity.

N: it’s a good thing N likes physics, because any fiction he read had to be vetted first so they wouldn’t give him any wrong ideas. He read a lot of math, physics and Pokémon care stuff as a kid while his fiction was being vetted for him. As a young adult, he seems like he has a childlike taste in fiction (lots of middle school adventure books and whatnot), but really he’s just making up for lost time.

Ghetsis: Ghetsis enjoys reading history, in particular anything to do with war or dictatorships. He loves imagining himself as powerful and violent historical figures and thinking about how he could have played their cards differently. He’s also a fan of theatre and likes reading playwrights. Not a fan of very unrealistic genres like fantasy and horror, but so long as it’s realistic, historical fiction is good, too- the more violent the better.

Colress: reads cutting edge scientific journals with his morning coffee. For fiction, science fiction is nice, but he will nit pick all the unscientific parts and try to think of ways he could make it work in reality. To him it’s part of the fun. This makes him either extremely interesting or extremely obnoxious to talk to about it.

Lysandre: Lysandre likes consuming media, including books, and he has very discerning tastes. While his favourites are old classics, he keeps his eye on what are considered to be the best books published that year. Poor-quality or mediocre media, especially if it’s popular, is just another sign that most people aren’t cut out to preserve the world’s beauty.

Guzma: Guzma doesn’t read very much- he’s not bad at it, he just learns better from the internet or practical experience. He has watched a lot of videos on bug Pokémon biology, though- enough that he could carry a conversation about it with a entomologist. Videos or other internet sources are his go-to when he needs to figure out a skill to maintain Po Town, and he has had to learn a lot of things as problems arise. He’s not dumb by any means.

Lusamine: Lusamine is pretty big into escapism. She likes reading fantasy, historical fiction and romance novels and cries over them easily. She also likes magazines about fashion, beauty, interior design and the like. Why can’t the real world be that beautiful?

Rose: speculative fiction. Unfortunately he’s rich and stupid enough that he he thinks he can make some of the ideas in these fiction novels into reality. If it hadn’t been Eternatus, it would have been something else. He’s well-read when it comes to finance, too.

Piers: Piers is self-taught when it comes to both his passions, and as such has read a lot about music and battle strategy. He liked fiction when he was younger, but nowadays, between his obligations as a gym leader, a musician, a leader is Spikemuth and up until recently Marnie’s caretaker, he doesn’t have time to read.

Penny: Manga, and lots of it. Also an avid AO3 user. She’s especially a fan of yuri.

JSB Grocery 002: (Functional Jacky93Sims Add-Ons)

Published: 1-13-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY This is a vending machine and functional seafood products to go with the JSB Grocery 001 set (Simmons, 2023). The machine itself vends groceries while shop owners can place sale items in the open interior – sell more items while using less space! Additionally, there are several seafood products which can be sold in OFB shops and used to stock fridges for food points. Some objects require shifting and/or placement cheats for ideal positioning. See below for details.

DETAILS Requires all EPs/SPs. §60-500 | Buy > Appliances > Large Appliances (Community Lot Only) The JSB Grocery 001 set (Simmons, 2023) and Object Freedom 1.02 (Fway, 2023) are BOTH required. Items with “MESH” in their filename are REQUIRED for textures/recolors to display correctly in-game.  Since some items are cloned from shelves, you may need to shift items up once for them to place properly. See below for more details and a download link.

Two items in one -purchase groceries by clicking on the machine itself. On OFB lots, place sale items (like the seafood products) on the vending machine shelf, then place the shelf behind the glass (you’ll need “move objects ON” and “snap objects to grid OFF” cheats). Let sims know what you’re selling by applying one of 21 swatches to the machine buttons. When it runs out of stock, the buttons will glow red.

Ohmigod minotaur max au 🥹 I have several thoughts if that's okay.

Little Carlos arriving with Fernando and Jenson and Lewis can't change him back from a werewolf but he can make it easier. He enchants some thread that Nico weaves into fabric and then turns into little mittens for Carlos to wear during the full moon. They can't be ripped or torn off even by his little werewolf claws and it means that he can't hurt anybody else or himself.

Lando climbs trees as easily as breathing. Some of the other children like max and Danny are impressed but Charles is a tiny bit jealous and insists that he can climb as well as lando, finding the highest tree in the forest and climbing all the way up to the top where he promptly realises that he cannot get down. Danny announces that he can get Charles down and Val runs to get Kimi or Seb before they inevitably get hurt. In the end it takes lando and Jenson guiding them down for everyone to arrive back on the ground safely. Charles and lando become friends from that, but Charles is still a tiny bit smug when he beats lando in a running race the next day.

Seb becomes the village school teacher. He's so clever and good with the children and so accepting of everyone's little quirks, whether it's being unable to sit still and concentrate like Danny or being a minotaur like maxy. All of the children love him, and their favourite lessons are when Seb takes them outside to the meadows to learn and they do their classes alongside the flowers and bees.

One extremely hot summer Lewis and Toto create a magical ice rink for the children. Kimi and Nico teach everyone to skate and little Valtteri is easily the best at it, zooming around on the ice like he was born there while most of the others stumble around like deer on ice.

Every time someone new arrives to live in the village, Nico always visits them the morning afterwards with a little hamper of supplies: food, firewood, blankets and candles to properly welcome them and make sure they're alright. Maxy likes to tag along to welcome their new residents and always gives them a gift from him too: a flower crown that he picked and made himself and that Lewis preserved with magic.

Lesis reading up a lot on how to help Carlos and he ends up making the mittens with Nico's help! Carlos is a little confused by them but they help him stay safe and the magic also calms him? Yes he isa little wolfie with mitten paws during full moon but he is basically just a happy lap dog who wants to chase sticks skks

Lando climbing so well! Lewis and Nico both now Lando must be part if not full elf or nymph but when Nando or Jenson don't admit it, they don't push for information! The little thing is sooo fast when climbing and also never falls! Charles claims he can climb too but ofcourse panics once in the tree! Danny climbs up to try and help but gets stuck too while Maxy moo and Val run back to get the adults and a very sleepy Lando for help. The kids manage to come down safe and charles and Dan have to promise not o climb that high again! And pls charlss and lando finally friends but Charles is a little smug winning in a running race (unfair, Lando's legs are tiny ksks)

Seb being such a good teacher 😭 he is patient and kind and understands what pups need. Danny struggles sitting still so momma easily.lets him zoom outside hopping as he does his maths exercise and Maxy needs a little extra love sometimes cos sometimes he will go "but maxy is judt minotaur do maybr maxy can't do this...". When possible the classes are outside or incthe greenhouse and there is a lot of playing too! And when Toto joins the town, he helps sometimes too, mostly by just being the quiet corner so pups snuggle up to him if they need a moment and he helps them read!

Pls the ice rink! It being so hot and tbe littles claim they are all melting! So Lewis makes the enchanted ice rink for winter of judt a day! Val being so natural and zooming around like he was made foe it ksks, and Maxy prefers snuggling with momma at the side and drink hot cocoa!

Pls maybr Toto and Kimi, with the help of others as the village grows, build little cottages just so they are ready for the new families inevitably showing up! Everyone deserves a safe home, they all lived through the insecurity of not having one and they want to help so bad!

Nico always taking a basket with some woven blankets, honey and wax from seb's bees, tools Kimi made, and some enchanted candles thst burn much longer and brighter thst Lesis makes. Maxy always wants to come and brings preserved flower crowns foe all new members. He is a little shy at first alwsys, hiding behind momma's embroidered skirts, but always dares to say hello eventually and is so proud when people like the crowns!

Bin noch nicht ganz über Folge 1056 hinweg, aber egal. Alles für die Wissenschaft!

Noah guckt sich das Storyboard von dem Horrorfilm an, den er damals für Colin gedreht hat. Oh Gott. Oh Fuck. Frustriert zerknüllt er es und schmeißt es weg.

Joel hat derweil wieder sein geliebtes Flipchart aus dem Keller geholt und Noah ist genervt, weil der Stift darauf Geräusche macht. Also stürmt er wütend auf Joel zu und nimmt ihm den Stift weg. Joel: "Geht's noch? Das ist auch mein Zimmer!"

Noah gibt ihm den Stift zurück, macht dann aber laute Musik an.

JOEL SCHREIT IHN WIEDER AN!

Joel: "Was ist dein Problem?" Noah: "Was meinst du?" Joel: "Weißt du genau." Noah: "Ich hab kein Problem." Joel: "Stimmt. Du war schon immer ein egoistisches Arschloch. Deswegen hat Colin auch keinen Bock mehr auf dich gehabt!"

JOEL MY BELOVED! ICH KANN NICHT BESCHREIBEN WIE SEHR ICH IHN GRAD LIEBE EY!

Joel ist frustriert, zieht mit seinem Flipchart in die Küche um und beschwert sich bei Ava, dass Noah seine schlechte Laune ständig an ihm auslässt. Joel: "Er ist der Arsch. Und ich muss mit ihm zusammenwohnen. Ich könnt echt kotzen."

JA JOEL LASS ALLES RAUS!

Er ist so kurz vor nem Mental Breakdown einfach.

Ava und Noah müssen bei Frau Amani eine Präsentation zum Thema KI halten. Noah hat sich aber gar nicht darauf vorbereitet und fasst es so zusammen: "Wenn die Roboter kommen, sind wir alle am Arsch."

Maxi hat Karl in der letzten Folge erzählt, dass sie sich für ihr Kuscheltier schämen würde. Eigentlich wollte sie sich ihn nur vom Hals halten, aber jetzt hat Karl einen riesigen Plüschbären namens Bernadette mit in den Unterricht gebracht.

Ava ist jetzt auch wütend auf Noah, weil sie seinetwegen nur fünf Punkte gekriegt hat. Joel bietet ihr erstmal nen Pastinakensaft an.

Nesrin und Annika sitzen im Partnerlook in ihrem Zimmer und helfen sich gegenseitig bei den Hausaufgaben. Annika muss für den Kunstunterricht ihr "künstlicheres Ich" finden. Nesrin legt ihr aber einfach ein Foto hin und will dann, dass sie zusammen zu Simon gehen, weil der noch Eistee-Lose hat. Annika: "Aber ich bin doch mehr als pranken! Oder ist das alles, was dir zu mir einfällt?" Annika, das war die letzten beiden Staffeln deine komplette Persönlichkeit! Erst seit dieser Staffel wissen wir, dass du gut in Naturwissenschaften bist.

Nesrin fallen noch ein paar andere Sachen ein: "Du bist gut in Mathe. Du bist immer pünktlich. Dein Bruder ist voll nervig."

Das reicht Annika verständlicherweise nicht. Während Nesrin zu ihrem Date Eisessen mit Simon geht, versucht sie, sich selbst etwas zu überlegen.

Marlon versucht, Annika zu helfen, aber ihm fällt auch nur das Pranken ein. Annika ist genervt.

Joel musste mit seinem Flipchart mal wieder umziehen, dieses Mal in Avas Zimmer, weil er Noah zu laut atmet.

Joel über Noah: "Er ist schon immer ein mieser Arsch." Jetzt versteh ich die spätere Sendezeit. Neue Bingokarte "Joel beleidigt Noah".

Ava hat Noah durchschaut: Sie weißt, dass Noah eigentlich nur wütend auf Colin und die ganze Welt ist. Sie schlägt vor, dass sie Noah zeigen sollen, dass sie ihn verstehen. Joel: "Wir sollen Verständnis zeigen?"

Joel startet also zusammen mit Ava sein "Projekt Noah". Punkt 1: Analyse. Das machen wir hier doch schon die ganze Zeit!

Um Karl zu unterstützen haben am nächsten alle ihre Plüschtiere in den Unterricht mitgenommen. Okay, das ist wohl wieder so ne Storyline für den unteren Teil der Zielgruppe.

Annika hat ihr künstlerisches Ich gefunden: Sie hat verschiedene Fotos von sich gemacht und ihr Gesicht mit verschiedenen Farben bemalt. Das soll symbolisieren, dass sie viele verschiedene Seiten hat - nicht nur Pranks. Kriegt sie jetzt endlich eine Persönlichkeit? Nach zwei Staffeln ohne?

Maxi muss Karl nun gestehen, dass sie ihn angelogen hat und gar kein Kuscheltier besitzt. Karl will aber trotzdem unbedingt herausfinden, was ihr Geheimnis ist. Das wollte Joel letzte Staffel auch und damit hat er das ganze Nolin-Drama überhaupt erst ausgelöst.

Maxi vertraut sich Karl nun doch an: Sie sucht etwas, das ihrer Oma gehört hat.

Ava und Joel haben für Noah eine kleine Horrorperformance vorbereitet. Titel: "Der Stimmungskiller!" Zitat Joel: "Ein Film von Noah Temel, mit Noah Temel und über Noah Temel."

Noah haut direkt wieder ab.

Ava knöpft sich Noah vor. Noah: "Lasst mich einfach alle in Ruhe." Ava: "Geht nicht. Du bist nicht alleine auf der Welt."

Noah: "Colin hätte einfach nicht abhauen dürfen. Ich hatte noch nie so nen guten Freund." Wir sind einen klitzekleinen Schritt weiter.

Noah hat Joel eine Pastinake mitgebracht: "Für deinen Saftladen." Joel: "Heißt das?" Noah: "Nein. Und was euer Plakat angeht? Häng es auf. Ist cool."

Noah und Joel kriegen eine neue Mitbewohnerin: Maxi. Ich glaub nicht, dass das offiziell so geregelt wurde. Das wird noch ne lustige Kombi!

It had to be freshman year of high school when you really saw Steve. Though having known him since elementary school, neither of you were close. It wasn’t until you had trouble opening your locker on the first day of school when your locker neighbor, Steve offered to help you.

Not having any classes with him during freshman year, the two of you talked and catched up during passing periods when you were switching out books.

You liked that Steve, you grew to love that Steve.

But King Steve, hanging around Tommy and Carol, you didn’t like him. 

“Excuse me.” Your voice was barely loud enough for Carol to hear. Rolling her eyes, she turned her head to you. 

“What?” She spat.

It was now junior year, you and Steve were no longer friends anymore, your friendship had ended towards the end of the first semester of sophomore year, when he met Tommy and Carol and started to gain more popularity. 

“You’re in front of my locker.” You sighed, it was a daily occurrence at this point. Usually Carol would come up with something to say to you but she just scooted closer to Tommy, turning back to the conversation. 

Turning to look at the group, you saw for a split second Steve’s eyes on you before he quickly casted them back to Tommy. 

Being as quick as you could you just grabbed your stuff, and walked into math. 

Walking into your usual seat, you smiled over at Nancy, the two of you good friends. “Did you hear about the Winter Formal?”

“I did.” Nancy nodded, “My mom wants to take me dress shopping this weekend.”

“Going with anyone?” You asked. You hoped that this would be the perfect time for you to ask Steve to dance with you, and finally confess your feelings for him. 

“No, no one has asked me and I am not going to ask anyone.” Nancy shrugged, “It doesn’t matter to me.”

You wished you had the carefree attitude she had about it, you were stressed out, worried about everything. Would Steve say yes, would your dress fit, would you and Steve be a couple afterwards. 

Coming home that afternoon, you made up the plan that you were going to ask Steve to Winter Formal the next day. Coming up with ideas in your head, you went to bed that night, dreaming of the two of you together. 

Your outfit was more put together than usual, a nicer blouse and a maxi skirt, that covered your legs, tights covering your legs from the freezing weather in Hawkins. Wiping off the nonexistent dust of you, you saw Steve at his locker, alone for once. 

Taking a deep breath, you made your way towards your own locker. 

Hearing the clicks of your shoes, Steve turned to see you coming up to your own locker, looking down, taking in your outfit.

“Hi Steve.” You said sweetly, turning towards him.

“Hey.” He just nodded. The old Steve would have probably loved talking to you but this new Steve, he didn’t know what to think. 

“So uh, winter formal is coming up.” You didn’t know why you were so nervous, you had pumped yourself up all last night and now you were stressing. “And I was wondering if-”

“Wait.” Steve interrupted you, your eyes now lowering to your feet. Feeling your heart starting to break, you already knew where it was going to end. “I think you’re great, but I’m planning to ask someone else.”

“Okay.” You swallowed, just nodding your head, “See you.”

Holding back your tears, you let out a shaky sigh, going into class. The rest of the day went by a blur, now walking out of school, making your way towards your car. 

Opening up the driver's door, throwing your bag into the passenger seat, you rested your hands on the steering wheel. 

Turning your keys, you heard the engine sputter, cursing under your breath. Turning off the car, you tried again, hearing the same sound.

“Are you kidding me!”

“Need a ride?”

Turning around, you saw your neighbor, Billy, leaning against his own car. Billy and his family had moved in towards the end of summer, you heard of his reputation and left him be. 

“It’s fine.” You sighed, “I’ll just go to the office, call a tow truck.”

“Like hell.” He opened your passenger door, grabbing your bag and bringing it towards his car. You had no other choice now, locking up your car and following Billy.

The ride home was quiet, his music filling the silence.

“Thank you.” You whispered, playing with a string on your bag. 

“It’s the neighborly thing.” He smirked, looking over at you. There was another beat of silence before he spoke again. “Saw you with Harrington this morning.”

“It was nothing.” You brushed it off. “I asked him to winter formal, he said no, that was it.”

Billy could tell there was more just by the sound of your voice but said nothing. Pulling into your driveway, you bid Billy a goodbye. 

“Y/n!” You turned, seeing Billy calling out your name, “If it’s worth anything, Harrington doesn’t know what he’s missing.”

You just smiled, and walked inside.

No one had ever asked you to winter formal and hearing through the grapevine, Steve had asked Nancy, who gladly said yes.

After some self reflection, you were over Steve, if he couldn’t see how you felt and ignored it, you didn’t need him.

Staring at your dress in your closet, you sat at the end of your bed just sighing. Your group of friends had invited you to go with them and all their dates and you couldn’t be the only one without a date. 

The doorbell had brought you out of your daydream, blinking a few times before going down the stairs.

Opening the door, you were met with a sight. Billy stood on your porch, all dressed, slacks, button up and a jacket, his hair freshly done and a corsage in his hand. 

“Billy.” You murmured, “You look handsome.”

“Thank you.” It was probably the first time you truly ever saw him smile. “Why aren’t you dressed?”

“I don’t know if I’m going.” You shrugged, letting him come inside, “Your date must be lucky.”

“Well, she isn’t dressed yet, and I’m here to persuade her into coming.” He smirked.

Catching his drift, your eyes widened in shock, “You want to go with me?”

“If you let me.” He said, “I know we haven’t been that close, but Harrington shouldn’t stop you from going.”

You just stayed silent, smiling softly, excusing yourself, running upstairs.

Getting dressed and doing your makeup in under thirty minutes, something that surprised you, you slid on your heels and made your way back downstairs.

“You look beautiful.” He said in awe, seeing you in your dress. Opening up the box that held your corsage, Billy nudged it towards your wrist.

Giving you his arm, Billy delicately tied the corsage around you, squeezing your hand before pulling away. 

“You ready?”

“As I’ll ever be.”

Walking into the gymnasium, one transformed into a winter wonderland, you looked around everywhere smiling softly. The dance had started less than an hour ago, the room starting to fill up.

You let Billy bring you to the dance floor, offering you his hand. Smiling, you accepted, letting him wrap his arms around your waist. 

In your own worlds, neither of you noticed Steve looking towards your way. Steve had noticed you the minute you entered the room. And seeing Billy next to you, made him jealous.

After rejecting you, Steve had felt horrible and wanted to apologize but he had let Tommy get into his head saying that he needed someone better.

But that night, Steve came to realize, there wasn’t anyone better than you.
