BTR and Mayonaka Punch are animes that lose part of their meaning if the girls were not gay for each other. I thought Masaki kissed Live when she caught her. I also thought they were going to kiss after the credits, but even without a kiss, the show managed to convey how much Live and Masaki meant to each other. You can't watch it and not think they have feelings for each other.

I'd also throw in VTuber Legend, Girls Band Cry and Symphogear in that ring as well but 100% agreed.

Live is simping hard for Masaki with the whole specifically wanting to suck her blood to the point she becomes a desperate mess being multiple euphemisms in one. Masaki in turn finally seeing Live as an incredibly important person to her as she's basically the first who seems to actually like her regardless of what she does instead of just tolerating her until she messes up.

Meanwhile Bocchi has gay failgirl energy to the max, complete with fantasies of girls and outright blacking out with an application for her band being in the school festival because she overheard girls talking about how they'd fall for a rocker. And of course Kita crushing hard for Ryo but then falling for Bocchi the more she got to know her.

There's a lot that could be said about subtext vs text when it comes to queer characters and how subtext tends to leave a bit too much wiggle room for interpretation and how there's never really enough works with textually queer characters being represented.

But in general, I feel the type of person that tries to wiggle out of the idea that a character isn't queer despite all the subtext pointing them as such is usually the type to get angry if the character is textually queer (thinking of the people who got angry at ILTV after Rae talks about how she is in fact a Lesbian).

For my part, the idea that characters can only be in love if they make big romantic gestures like kissing just always feels backwards to me.

Maybe it's my aroness talking but it feels like that's just for reaffirmation of one's love rather than the requirement of being in love. Maybe I'm also just hyped up on how good genre dissections How Do We Relationship and Yuri is My Job are about relationships that "x romantic gesture needs to be there for them to actually be in love" feels a bit trite to me.

playing: i reactivated my wizard101 membership...so boy oh boy i've been wizarding. it's why watching is fallow this week. trying to speedlevel my main up to max, she's up to 78 now and i'm hoping to slam through avalon pretty fast.

🗣 - ok, I just got out of the shower and cranked out some more HM!T thoughts.

First time Toki took a shower with Skwisgaar, she thought Skwisgaar was trying to kill her with the water temperature. Skwisgaar likes it scalding hot 🔥 while Toki perfers in luke warm. She hopped in all ready to see soapy sudsy Skwisgaar and got attacked by the pelting of fire ants on her back. Skwisgaar showered alone that night while Toki whimpered and moaned about her "3rd degree burns" on her back.

After eating out somewhere, Skwisgaar sees a dragon squishmellow in an arcade game. Toki tells her she can win it for her, easy peasy. 1 hr later, Toki is getting desperate trying to win this dragon, tried bribing the owner to open it up so she could buy it, and even tried sticking her arm up the winning slot. Skwisgaar said she could probably get him in one try and Toki mocked her but let her try anyway. Skwisgaar got it in one try. Skwisgaar teased Toki all the way home about it but Toki got her back by teasing her all night long.

Toki, for all her feral moments, flips 180 when the dethmoms are visiting. Just like how a frat guy tries his best to impress the folks of his girl, Toki does the same, but does it to the whole group of moms. (Her own mom is the only one that genuinely makes her nervous and scared so she includes her in it as well, even though she doesnt wanna be near her.) She becomes the perfecr gentlemen, pulling out chairs, complimenting them, picking up their dishes, holding doors, listening to their stories, always helping them out. The guys and Skwisgaar can't tell if they're annoyed that Toki has become the moms favorite or relieved that shes the moms favorite because that means they wont bug them for stuff. Toki always tries to make a good impression on Ms. Skwigelf, jokingly calling her Mother-In-Law (Shes know of Toki and Skiwsgaar) or Skwisgaar’s younger sister (She has the guy mentality of complimenting older women by calling them younger. It always works.) However, Toki is still a failgirl and an asshole, and her hands are rated E or Everyone. She will throw down with any one of the moms, especially Ms. Skwigelf, for making Skwisgaar uncomfortable or upset. (Just give me protective Toki IM BEGGING YOU)

Toki shits with the door open and Skiwsgaar yells at her in Swedish to shut the damn door. She does not and just flicks her off instead.

If Toki is like a dumb, strong jock kind of Hey Mama's Lesbian, I definitely see her interrupt Skiwsgaar's practice time or recording time just to show off her muscles by doing poses (Think Muscle Man Contest) but when shes in her dumb gym bro mode, she doesn't 100% realize what shes doing is arousing Skwisgaar to the max. She generally wants to show off her gains AND THEN fuck Skiwsgaar's brains out.

i cant formulate good responses to this but just know i. i think my fave trope is toki trying to do somethign to impress skwisgaar and skwisgaar tries desperately to hide just how much it's working. it's so ucteeee because skwisgaar is a hater by default but a lover at heart.

There's something special and really cute about Chloe's fail behaviour and nerdy traits as well as that timidity she has when it comes to direct romance considering how you would expect her to act from the feigned persona she uses and her outward appearance, and while she flirts countless times it's subtle in a way, it's never direct except for moments where she is talking so seriously, like that one scene in chapter 3 that is easily missed. There's also the fact the one time she asks for a kiss she gets so nervous she has to stop the moment their lips touch, eyes widening and all, while Max's arms stay in the air for a moment as though she was expecting and wiling to let it linger for so much longer. Max often returns the tone Chloe uses when speaking to her in ways that could be seen as flirting without hesitation, there is so much chemistry... like in the scene in Frank's RV where she says that she would probably ask her to kiss her again, which leads to Chloe daydreaming like a total nerd. Oh my goodness. Sometimes she's just as much of a failgirl as she was when she was 16 even if she has changed in other ways and is definitely better at hiding it now.

memento mori [he/she] - hellriders much more outgoing vampire partner. she prefers a motorcycle instead of a car when she drives, and a member of OHKO. [eventually, hellrider will choose to join]
