lol! read through that nonsense and I think it’s garbled? but idk how else to say what I’m trying to say besides….
Max’s struggle with his queer identity is very much because he inverted the general sexual orientation definition system. Aka if love (romantics) and sex (sexuality) are each a hand- and the heteronormative labeling system views (love 🤝 sex -> sexual orientation) and the general separation of sexuality and romanticism takes (sex -> sexual orientation) and (love -> romantic orientation) then Max in his limited understanding and aroace identity took (love -> sexual orientation) and (sex -> horniness)
#roswell new mexico#max evans#ignore me#I think this is somehow better then the hrs of work for the actual meta#*sighs*

Our only defense against surveillance capitalism in the short run is to avoid being surveilled. Quitting platforms which suck personal information out of you is essential to protect privacy. Avoiding cookies and trackers is another way to protect yourself.
I’m a compulsive history clearer. My history is cleared automatically when the browser (either Firefox or Safari) is closed. Sometimes I’ll clear much of it selectively in mid session. I NEVER use Chrome which is just a vacuum cleaner of personal info for Google. And speaking of Google, it’s rare for me ever to be signed in there.
To control your personal information it’s necessary to be proactive and to endure a little inconvenience. I see this inconvenience as minor and beneficial – in the same way that conscientious recycling is in the long run.
But ultimately, legislation is needed to protect internet users. There are plenty of precedents. We already have laws to protect safety, to ensure pure food and pharmaceuticals, and to regulate financial transactions. It’s long overdue for online privacy to get the same treatment.
There need to be limits on personal information which online commercial entities can collect, store, and share.

just read this from the horse's mouth (shaun evans) and unfortunately I'm spiralling again (x)
Part of our duty is to give us a reason why Morse of the later incarnation never mentions this mentor of his. So Thursday has to do something, or there has to be a fissure in the relationship, where he’s never mentioned again. We’re coming to that point now, I think, and we’ve been slowly, slowly building towards it.
mentally shaken after reading that endeavour s9 article speculating a falling out so now I’m reassuring myself by overthinking the end of neverland as thursday gives his monologue re: protecting the innocent, and specifically the way morse looks at him: the blinding respect-admiration-adoration-faith. thursday goes and proves his fidelity to those ideals beyond a doubt by taking a bullet for them moments later so is it any wonder (I realize upon rewatch) that s6/s7 morse, opera-obsessed hopeless-romantic endeavour “majored in the classics” morse, acts the way he does? that morse has an image of thursday in his mind which isn’t necessarily objective? (and vice versa but that’s a different set of meta.) they are neither of them anymore the men who went to blenheim vale but is it any wonder thursday’s still willing to dash off to the continent at a moment’s notice for a man who–despite having done his best to burn his bridges–once vowed to die at his side, and meant it? blenheim vale surely did more than any other single event of the series to bind them irrevocably (which makes sense; it was the payoff for 2 seasons of buildup) and it feels reasonable to assume russell lewis writes with this in mind (thursday even brings up blenheim vale in s6! he breaks the cardinal rule of tv trauma, which is never refer back to the trauma once the recovery arc is over, no matter how relevant it may be). you don’t unbecome that kind of devotion and god I hope this bears out in s9
#THOSE ARE NOT THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS MR EVANS!!!#my path-of-least-resistance theory is that if the creators are determined to give a canonical reason#(rather than just. the handwaving I would expect and honestly be okay with. from any other prequel)#then it makes most sense to me that morse would make some kind of mistake or get himself into some kind of situation#which thursday would then take it upon himself to get morse out of#at some high personal cost: whether it be his career or his family or his life#some kind of awful situation where it's nobody's fault really and everyone was already fated by fatal flaw to act the way they did#but morse being morse comes away from it with incredible guilt and sadness and self-blame#which explains why max and jim et al would never willingly bring up thursday to him again and why morse would do his best to try and forget#I genuinely with wishful thinking put aside would find it not only out of character but also a let-down given the trajectory of the show#if the explanation for thursday's absence in morse's later life after nine seasons is a mere s7-esque falling out.#russell lewis hasn't yet--despite some weaker writing--given me reason to mistrust his resolve to carry out a satisfying overall arc#knocking furiously on fucking wood#god I really am gonna have to write fic now huh. just as insurance against the possibility it all goes to pot#supplemental log#endeavour#also I think the original meta post holds up pretty well#looking at it midway thru s7 on my rewatch

Deadpool vs Wolverine thoughts
- lots of Easter eggs like too many to count honestly definitely requires a well rounded media knowledge even outside of marvel
- fucking incredible soundtrack. Great nostalgic choices that really made the film imo
- Chris Evan’s cameo as Johnny flame? Hilarious
- overall plot very fast and loose and really more there just to have a reason to put the two together
- is definitely crack
- like this absolutely could just be considered a crack universe because the one choice that ruined any type of canon was having Laura? The kid from Logan there in the void because Logan was sooo serious and talking about it was fine and bringing a different version (primed for “funnier”) is a great choice but wtf was she just there for other than a lil tear jerk moment idk unnecessary
- all serious moments lowkey unnecessary felt very off in comparison to the rest bc the rest was crack lol
- only part of the multiple Deadpool thing I liked was its uzi time baby
- fuck that gross dog forever but Logan just holding it to walk across truly hilarious
- love blade ? And the elektra call back but still those movies were so.. like serious (tho very camp) that it’s kind of weird to place these characters
- but the one liner to blade about animal king made it ok for me lol
- Stanley steamer cameo Stan Lee check very creative
- Cassandra… idk how to feel just a plug in villain but she had the opportunity to be so so so good I think I felt like she was underutilized
- as usual the worst part of marvel movies is their admittance that they know what’s wrong and don’t care but hey I literally saw it in theaters so it’s cyclical and 50% pass for being written and produced by Ryan
- I wish they put spawn in it. Idk man no reason at all I have no idea how the comics interact if at all but w the other cameos I think that’s probably the most overlooked marvel movie
- mad max mention check check check
- the tva as a continued narrative I dislike which is ironic bcccc —->
- Loki mention! Meta but whatever
- it was really funny I will give it props yes one liners but good ones !
- bloopers from all versions of X-men etc as ending reel solid!!! Very good
- fight scenes.. the opening was the best and the others were fine…
- they should have kisses there was the PERFECT moment and they didn’t
- I think this was a fun Wolverine actually I like how much he swore and was as nasty as Deadpool
- 7/10 final rating which is a b if you’re in Canada (reference Ryan reynolds)

No podemos olvidar a BMW i Andretti Motorsport. ¡Me intriga saber quién será elegido! #Automovilismo #FastCars #Motorheads

Snap CEO says 20 million U.S. teens use Snapchat, but only 200,000 parents use its Family Center controls
During today’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on kids’ online safety, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel shared that 20 million teenagers use Snapchat in the United States and that around 200,000 parents use its Family Center supervision controls. He also shared that approximately 400,000 teen accounts have been linked to a parent’s account through Family Center. Spiegel’s testimony marks the first time that Snap has shared real-world metrics regarding the usage of Snapchat’s parental controls.
Snapchat’s Family Center, which allows parents to see who their teens are friends with on the app and who they have been communicating with, first launched in 2022.

Spiegel shared the numbers after Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif) asked the CEO’s of Snap, Meta, TikTok, X and Discord to disclose how many minors were using their platforms and how many parents were using parental supervision controls offered by the services.
“We create a banner for Family Center on the user’s profiles,” Spiegel said after being asked what Snapchat was doing to ensure parents and guardians are aware of the tools. “So the accounts we believe may be the age that they can be parents can see the entry point into Family Center easily.”
Snap introduced the parental controls in response to increased pressure on social networks to better protect minor users from harm. Snapchat’s roll out of Family Center followed the the launches of similar parental control features across other apps, including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Spiegel was the only CEO to share numbers in response to Senator Padilla’s question.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he was unable to provide specific numbers, but said that the company runs “extensive ad campaigns” both on its platform and outside to raise awareness of its parental supervision tools.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino shared that less than 1% of the platform’s 90 million U.S. users are between the ages of 13 and 17, and that the company is discussing parental controls.
“Being a 14 month old company we have reprioritized child protection and safety measures,” Yaccarino said. “We have just begun to talk about and discuss how we can enhance those with parental controls.”
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew said he was unable to share specifics, but that TikTok was “one of the first platforms” to give parents supervision controls. Discord CEO Jason Citron said that Discord raises awareness of its parental controls through promotional videos and in-app prompts.

"El récord de Paquillo lo he visto cerca pero prefiero ganar un Mundial que ser cuarto y batir el récord de España", dijo el atleta español, que acabó diciendo que deben "reivindicarse y seguir luchando". okay, so like the Desert/Oasis/Ocean symbolism is driving me up a wall, cause like it exists in season four but half of the threads don’t carry through into an actual plot because how the narrative treated Max and Liz’s relationship. But mostly I’m just staring at that final 4x13 scene (not literally I’m not a masochist) and wanting to throw things cause if handled correctly it could have been a well structured piece of the symbolism
Like it could have been a pretty little scene of how Max was moving on from his set issues and fully committing to the Oasis that was their relationship, mirroring the shift Liz made at the end of season three when she moved fully into the Oasis symbolism as well. While also depicting how their relationship in more ways than one began in the desert and had finally grown out of those stages, towards marriage and building a family. But like… it doesn’t. Just like Max choosing to leave their bed (which I’ve discussed the Oasis symbolism there before) and go out into the desert -alone- to remove his powers, but in doing so finds himself sitting on a dock by a man made pond while he removes his powers… like so much opportunity tbh
#and as always not enough follow through#I mean I went into s4 with plans to expand on two different metas and got zilch for both 😭#roswell new mexico#max evans#liz ortecho#echo and landscapes

Anthony Bridgerton confessed his true feelings for Kate Sharma. This Is Us‘ Rebecca Pearson got well-deserved kudos. Viktor Hargreeves introduced himself to his Umbrella Academy siblings. And The White Lotus‘ Tanya McQuoid realized something very important… just a little too late.
All year long, we’ve been collecting TV’s best sound bites in our Quotes of the Week compilations, which honor the dialogue that made us laugh and cry — sometimes simultaneously. But as 2022 draws to a close, we’re now looking back at the Quotes of the Year, highlighting 60 of the funniest, most poignant or most wonderfully meta moments from the past 12 months.
Best TV Shows of 2022 | Stranger Things, The Boys, Andor, More
0 seconds of 3 minutes, 52 seconds
In the list below, you’ll find Robin Scherbatsky sharing her romantic past with How I Met Your Father‘s Sophie, Ellen DeGeneres reflecting on how much has changed since her talk show began, Westworld‘s Dolores-Hale uttering a powerful one-word command, and Andor‘s precious droid B2EMO lamenting a major loss.
Of course, some shows — like ABC’s Abbott Elementary and Netflix’s Stranger Things — were just too quotable this year to select only one line, so they’re among the series making multiple appearances on our list. And it’s not just the scripted fare that made our cut: Unscripted programs like American Idol, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Big Brother are in the mix, as well.
As with all of our year-end lists, we should issue a quick spoiler alert for several of this year’s plot twists, romantic confessions and heartbreaking sendoffs. I have a whole lot of feelings regarding Michael and Max, but for right now I want talk about one of the moments they shared in the bunker. This post talks about something Max says to Liz, and how, out of context, it makes Max look really problematic, but in context, is actually exactly the thing Liz needed to hear.
And while this is probably an unpopular opinion I think the same actually goes for what Max said to Michael about his ”burden”. Because taking that scene by itself, telling an abused child “I felt your pain” and “what happened to you happened to me” is like.... what the fuck?! Literally how dare you try to act like you could even begin to understand what he was going through, at such a formative stage in his life. And that’s what Michael looks like he’s expecting:
But Michael thinks he’s always been alone. He thinks Max and Isobel fucked off with the Evans and left him behind and yeah he probably has some jealousy that Max got the childhood he was denied. Shit, how could he not? How could he look at himself and Max, these two boys that started their lives in the same place, and not be furious that Max got the life he was denied?
But the good part of him, the compassionate heart he has was so happy and relieved that they had it easier. He took those beatings and burns, he took every punch and he buried it so they would be spared. He never wanted to hurt them, he never wanted them to know the horrors he had to endure - they were all he loved in the world and he wanted them to be happy, even if it meant he suffered.
And that’s been his character the whole show. Michael doing things that hurt himself in order to protect Max and Isobel. Burying all that pain and abuse as a child so they wouldn’t worry about him. Burying a literal body so Max wouldn’t be seen as a murderer. Taking the blame for Isobel’s murders so she wouldn’t be horrified at herself. Covering up those murders so they could all be safe. Spending 10 years living up to that perception of loose canon/monster so they wouldn’t feel guilty about what he gave up for them.
And he never talks about any of it with them, not ever. Not at 14. Not at 17. Not at 27.
He never told them about Alex - never said a word. Didn’t tell him that a human showed him kindness for the first time. Didn’t tell them he fell in love. Didn’t tell them he was brutally punished for that love. Didn’t tell them the man he loved left to go off to a foreign country and die.
And because of that, he’s made himself i n s a n e l y isolated. Gawd, can you imagine? Being alone with all your thoughts for 20 years of just nonstop horror and pain? Can you even begin to fucking imagine what a burden that was to carry by himself? And he did all of it, kept it from them, so that they wouldn’t hurt. No wonder Michael needs his Quiet.
So when Max tries to talk about his own “burden,” Michael understandably looks skeptical - because, how, how could it even begin to compare?
And then Max starts talking about “guilt” and Michael’s face kind of freezes:
This isn’t what he was expecting Max to say. He was expecting Max to give some speech about always having to be the responsible one, the one that made the rules, the “dad” of the group, the one who had to take care of them all. He thought Max was going to explain all the ways in which Michael’s behavior was a burden for Max.
But he’s not - he’s talking about his inability to prevent Michael’s pain.
To anyone else, from anyone else, these words would be incredibly callous, but they’re not bc this is exactly what Michael needed to hear. This is Max saying:
“You were loved. You were watched. You were noticed. You wouldn’t talk about it but I knew and it hurt me to know you were hurting. Every time. I wanted to carry that burden with you so that you wouldn’t have to carry it alone.”
And just imagine what that must feel like for Michael to hear? All the hiding, all the secrets, all the years of this pain and chaos building inside him because he thought he was all alone in the world, and here Max is, emphatically telling him that was never true. Max cared. Max didn’t want Michael to be hurting, would have gladly shared that pain if only it meant Michael wasn’t carrying it alone.
And we’ve learned through reference in 1.06 (both at Prom when Michael “had a bad feeling” and That Night) and again more explicitly in 1.12 that the psychic connection between the three of them isn’t limited to just Max and Isobel - “when things are really bad for one of us, the others get flashes of pain.”
Riley makes the point here that what makes this line land so hard for the audience is that Max is referencing specific events, but I also think that’s what makes it land so hard for Michael. He’s realizing not only was he never truly hiding his abuse, but that Max and Isobel were very likely experiencing it with him.
And that’s why Michael doesn’t spit in Max’s face and shout “How Dare?!” Because the weight of understanding how much Max cares, how much Max would have done for him, how much Max loves him is hitting him like a tidal wave. It’s something he’s never accounted for, something he was absolutely blind to.
This expression is stripped. The walls have come down and he even looks apologetic, looks regretful. Because he’s spent 20 years trying to prevent Max and Isobel from knowing the depth of his pain and he’s facing that revelation that he failed. All those years of burying and hiding and smiling through his pain were for nothing because Max always knew.
Even as Max is begging him to understand that he’s not alone, Michael is still sorry. Because no matter how jealous he was, no matter how furious that Max got to have that perfect life while he experienced nothing but horror, he still loves Max enough that he never ever wanted Max to go through what he went through, and he’s sorry that he wasn’t able to prevent Max from seeing it anyway.
And that is fucking important for Michael to understand. That at the end of the day, he is seen and he is loved. Max loves him, more than all the shit they’ve been burying for a decade. Max is on his side. Max is family.
So no, I don’t think that Max saying this to Michael was Peak Privileged Bullshit. I think it was Max finally busting through Michael’s walls and reaching out to him in exactly the way he needed to be reached. And it worked.

So we saw the moment Max learned his hands could kill. I would like the see when he learned he could heal.
I'm not a Max person, even though trying to watch the og helped me appreciate him a bit more (og max creeps me out a lot idk how people shipped them). But, in rnm, we only see him, as a child, kill. Obviously, by the time Rosa's death came, he knew he could do something along the lines of healing because he tried, but at the time with the drifter, he said all he could do was mess with electricity and then he murdered someone with his bare hands on accident.
Imagine what that does to a kid. Yes, he was protecting his sister, but it's no less horrifying. How long did he go thinking that his brother was telekinetic, his sister was psychic, and he was murderous? That they had fun superpowers and he was destined to be the villain? How long did he spend trying to fight whatever darkness was inside of him, telling him it was only a matter of time?
Then, when he realized that wasn't the case, that he could help, not hurt, he must've been so relieved. A big "oh, I'm not bad". But then an "oh, I dont have to fight my nature, I'm okay. I'm good. I'm helpful." And after Rosa, that voice gets louder. Hes good. What he did wasn't bad. Hes good. Hes helpful.
And he becomes a cop because he wants to continue to be good, continue to be helpful. He doesn't want to think of what he spent however long thinking. He doesnt want to feel like the villain of his story. He already feels bad about Michael, feels bad about Isobel, feels bad about Rosa, about Liz, about these things he really didnt have much control over, but puts it on himself because that's what he does and he wanted to overcompensate. He refuses to be the bad guy.
So then what's going to happen when he wakes up from his temporary death? Is he going to remember spiralling, remember becoming manic, remember healing Michael without his consent, remember dying at a chance to feel better, remember feeling good after murdering?
Is he going to think he became the villain he tried so hard not to be?
#i say knowing carina wont address that at all#max has a hero complex#like we know michael wants to be alexs hero#but max just strives to be a martyr#im sorry for this rambling#max evans#max evans meta#roswell new mexico#rnm

i know people got tired of the ‘max is dying’ stuff but i genuinely love that there were such serious consequences for not only max bringing rosa back from the dead but liz bringing him back from the dead too.
it lasted just the right amount of time for me, with s2 being half bringing him back and half repercussions, and s3 being half repercussions and half healing/protecting what he’d regained.
it provides limits to his abilities, it raises the life/death stakes for the rest of the cast, and it makes the rosa resurrection/max’s sacrifice all the more meaningful because we know it’s a miracle he ever came back from it and he really had to suffer the consequences of his own redemption. he never got an easy solution.
anyway looking forward to max being his new and improved self in s4 and getting to play with his powers again.

So in 3x12 Heath talks about the place where he and Dallas “used to quiet the voices” and in 3x13 Liz says to Max “you quiet all the noise” when talking about their first meeting at the playground. Those lines have to be intentional parallels to “together we could quiet all the noises, drown out the voices” from Alex’s song right?
