@finch-connor did you know that the band that shows up for that one scene in Fallen Leaves actually makes music and has three whole ass albums out and at least the one with a song from the movie slaps???
I have no clue what the fuck they're saying at any given moment but it sounds great

guyyyyyys I didn't tell you about the Maustetytöt concert yet (don't think Ive forgotten about it ✌🏻)
so here's a not so short version of what happened: today a week ago we went to Cologne to see them in a beautiful hall full of hipsters and Finns. It looked amazing:
after a pretty long wait they came on the stage -without saying a word- and began playing songs from their most recent album (Maailman Onnellisin Kansa)
they played just so good *chef's kiss* it couldn't be better, also the sound acoustically had pure quality!!
I had many emotional moments that just touched my heart and made me cry because it was so wonderful...
thats me, their fancy groupie, finally get to see my idols 🖤🖤 coincidentally I dressed matching outfits with them which was niceee (yes I drank beer, not sorry, it was delicious)
the feeling is indescribable, I saw sooo many people dancing, vibing to that niche insider music. For three months this music was my obsession, my hyperfixation and it felt like the long awaited finale.
People were simply enjoying their lives, laughing, drinking, with friends or alone... and so did I: enjoyed every second
thanks to my mum & dad and a guy who gave us an additional ticket for free, I love you <33
[that's not everything!! By far!! I also got the chance to talk to Kaisa backstage and agzwjhegwzzwhwgqzgwfwgsgj *fangirling* I'll tell you tomorrow ^^]
[omg no way this was true. And already a week ago?!]

Tähän päivään juuri sopiva biisi (ja kannattaa muutenkin tsekata uusin Maustetyttöjen albumi, on muuten tosi hyvä!)

Yesterday I saw Maustetytöt, who couldn't be more polar opposite of Vesterinen in almost every dimension you can think of. The song arrangements are quite simple (after all it's just the two of them on guitar and keyboard), and the lyrics are very bleak (sample titles: "Cheap beer and OTC painkillers", "If I get run over by a long-distance bus") - though I think it is supposed to be ironic. It's certainly not for everyone.
It was kind of interesting noticing that Kaisa (keyboard and lead vocals) had a little spiral-bound notebook with a page she'd flip to for each song. Also how many knobs and buttons and sliders and everything one has to deal with to do all the effects and run the drum machine. (I'm just a simple pianist, ok.)
Very distinctive parts of their performance include the cold, empty gazes and completely deadpan delivery. They do crack some jokes between songs but never break character.
If they sound a lot like characters out of an Aki Kaurismäki film, you're 100% right! Indeed they make an appearance in Fallen Leaves (which I haven't seen yet but his films all have this unifying aesthetic). Maustetytöt still could be considered an indie act, though they have a bit of an international following because of the film appearance and are touring Germany next. I overheard more people speaking English here than I usually do seeing other bands.
(No set list because I don't actually know their songs at all but I've heard a couple of them maybe once. I bought all their albums though :))
