Nickel Bin #24:
Pink Floyd's Echoes
I'm usually not a fan of male pomposity. A shirtless man band strutting around a Roman amphitheater in Pompeii for a 24 minute song sounds like my idea of a bad time.
But if the men in question are dedicating themselves to one of the most epic pieces of popular music ever created I guess I'll let it fly:
youtube
I generally don't like Pink Floyd and that is simply because nothing else they ever did comes anywhere near this mammoth song. Ian Matthews look-a-like and Floyd pianist Richard Wright anchors the whole thing with his deft playing and his Matthews-like singing.
(I'm serious about the look-a-like thing: you tell me if you can tell the difference between these two dudes in 1972:)
Anyway, I'm glad Wright took his shirt off for Echoes.
David Gilmour partners with him on the vocals and produces a sensational spectrum of sounds, from empire-building to primordial. We'll give his shirtless form too an approving nod.
The drummer, whose name I'm too lazy to google, checks every rock drummer cliche box with aplomb. Seriously, check out his tank top and drum fills. Someone should gift him a giant gong. Even so, I'm glad he kept his shirt on. Enough's enough.
And Roger Waters never opens his largely soulless pie hole. He shuts the hell up, doesn't even consider the shirtless approach and plays a mean bass. If he followed this same plan elsewhere during the band's 70's run I'd listen to a lot more of the Floyd. Waters should have kept his trap shut far more often. Maybe then he would have convinced his bandmates, and any one of his five - so far - ex-wives, not to drop kick him straight outta their lives.
Silly 70's direction aside, Echoes' Pomeii performance is pretty damn great. The ancient gods surely knelt.
But it's not as good as the original:
youtube
There are more ghosts to be beheld on the studio track, and far more textures. Everything truly is green and submarine, surging towards the light. As a kid I'd listen to Echoes with my headphones on and a deeply serious expression on my face. When the whale calls emerged from the mid-song funk workout I'd produce poetic thoughts.
Clearly, I was full of crap.
Today I no longer aspire to poetic thoughts. I write this nonsense instead. But I still listen to Echoes, usually while doing the dishes. I'm pleased to report that they come out quite clean. And at several points in the process my wife churns through the kitchen and song and asks the house at large whose cell phone alarm is going off.
"That's no cell phone alarm that you hear, fair wife," I tell her. "That's my music."
All of which makes me wish I'd discovered this video below when it emerged four and a half years ago at the dawn of the pandemic. Rodrigo y Gabriela's version of Echoes sounds, at points, like something you'd hear in your dentist's waiting room in-between easy listening instrumental versions of Here Comes the Sun and Tears in Heaven.
But at other points Rodrigo, and especially Gabriela, sound like they are center stage in Pompeii, shirtless and soulful, forcing all our gods, and a cowering Roger Waters, to kneel.

Matthew and Richard had spoken, it was still just the two of them. He thought that they needed to talk, Richard needed to learn about him and who he was especially since his memory was back but he also wanted to show Richard that he was still the same person. Matthew had found out Richard was pregnant and he knew how his husband handled the news. They had spoken and he had showed the male that their children would not be like Luke or Benji after showing Richard his future baby genetic make up which was more similar to Reys and Mason's personality genetic code. Matthew had given Richard time to think and reflect while the male did some training.
Matthew was in shorts, shirtless. He took a break when he saw his husband walk toward him. "How are you feeling now my handsome beautiful girl?" he asked in a soft and sweet voice. @rcsendxrnen

Honestly it did not surprise the assassin that both Logan and Richard will be working while they were on vacation. Matthew and Angelo had become very best friends and they trusted each other. Matthew giving the male advice on how to deal with his now husband Logan who he had discover was his half brother but atter all it did all make sense. “Seriously, those two planned all this and all they did is work ignoring us,” he spoke with a chuckle as he sat back, sun shinning on his skin. Matthew was in nothing but his boxers.
“So how is married life treating you Angelo,” he spoke looking over at the other who was shirtless as well. “I think I might have a plan later in other to get certain boys attention if you are up for it.” he whispered giving the male a devilish grin. @rcsengxrten

Daredevil 101: Eurotrip!
This is going to be a long one, folks. I tried to trim it down as much as I could, since I don’t want these sort of intermediary stories to be taking as long to cover as they have, but I was left with cutting it up into two short chunks or giving you one hefty meal. I chose hefty meal, so loosen your belts and tuck that napkin into your collars, kids!
...This metaphor may have gotten away from me.
Last time, Matt escaped from jail and headed to Monaco to track down Alton Lennox, the elusive lawyer who, for some mysterious reason, hired the convict who killed Foggy - who the reader (but not Matt) has just found out is actually alive! We’re picking up with more of the Brubaker/Lark run, DD v2 88-93. The official storyline name is “The Devil Takes a Ride.”
Content Warning: Image of a dead body, mention of murder made to look like suicide.
We start with Foggy, who is trapped in Witness Protection, unable to contact Ben or Dakota or anyone else who might be able to get through to Matt:
It’s not actually clear who the FBI is claiming to be Witness Protecting Foggy from, at this point? All they know is that he was stabbed by a guy at Riker’s, who is now dead, and also Foggy isn’t in Riker’s anymore. Matt’s enemies in general, maybe?
Anyway, this issue is called “The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson” and it’s basically a love letter to Matt. Foggy's narration boxes are all directed at Matt (who can’t hear him, of course), as he explains that he’s always wanted to do the right thing, but he’s been so afraid, especially with the dangerous life they lead:
I’M CRYING. Also, I’ve always loved that Foggy envisions Matt saving him, not Daredevil. Even after he learns that the two are one and the same, Matt is always the part he loves.
Foggy eventually gets so desperate to escape Witness Protection and talk to Matt that he sneaks out of the house he’s being held in and hails a cab that is...idling around this remote suburban neighborhood...suspiciously...
Hmm, yeah, that’s not good.
Luckily, Foggy is rescued! By ninjas!
Foggy’s face in that first panel is amazing.
Anyway, I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Elektra is leading the Hand at this particular point in time, and she has ordered them to keep Foggy safe. Matt has no idea she’s doing this, of course - he doesn’t even know Foggy’s alive - but she knows what Foggy means to him. Also, she has a demonstrated soft spot for Foggy. I just love everything this says about all of them so much, even if I don’t know why the mafia wanted to kill Foggy. I guess they just be like that.
Thwarted in his escape, Foggy settles in to essentially wait for Matt to settle things in Europe and come rescue him. Meanwhile, Matt is being tormented by dreams of a bucolic Silver Age life with a living Foggy (and Karen!):
Aw, baby.
You can see that as is traditional for when Matt goes to Europe (or imagines going to Europe), he has dyed his hair black.
Matt is in Monte Carlo, because the only client he can find for Alton Lennox in Monaco, a mob boss named Tybold Lucca, runs a casino there:
Matt and his ill-fitting suit - I’m sorry, “Ray Mallory” and his ill-fitting suit - have been using his powers to win like crazy and thus draw Lucca’s attention. It works, as Lucca’s daughter Lily herself shows up to invite him to an exclusive party at the Lucca estate:
When Matt gets to the party, Lily doesn’t seem to be having a great time:
The scent thing is important. Lily reminds Matt of something, and he’s conscious of it enough to realize it’s making him want to bend over backwards to help her, without realizing exactly what - or who - she reminds him of.
The centerpiece of the event is a bullfight. After the bull is killed (Matt doesn’t enjoy that), Lucca announces the aforementioned deal with his “Spanish associate,” i.e. the bullfighter, Juan: Lily’s hand in marriage!
Matt’s moralizing over these strange cultures in the first panel makes me laugh. I know it’s another continent, Matthew, but it’s the same century.
Anyway, yikes! Juan has just killed Tybold Lucca! Also I don’t know how Matt knows the guy with the gray temples is Alton Lennox but whatever!
Matt Daredevils up, but Juan kidnaps Lily and Lennox and escapes in a helicopter. And that’s when something clicks into place, nose-wise:
I love this page. Why does Lily smell like Karen? Who is the mysterious mastermind behind, uh...a matador stabbing a gangster and said gangster’s daughter being kidnapped? What does this have to do with Foggy’s death? It’s a bonkers and extremely extra way of "explaining” this plotline, Brubaker, and I salute you.
Matt pursues Lily and Lennox, because they’re his only lead and because, well, it would be shitty not to. Lily’s scent haunts his dreams:
I love that all of Matt’s sweaty shirtless dreams about his conflicted feelings towards his love interests have Foggy in them, too. Just bro stuff!
Matt tracks the kidnapping victims to another opulent European mansion and finally catches up with Alton Lennox...but too late:
The man who hired Foggy’s killer has taken his secrets to the grave. But Lily is still out there. In fact, not only is her scent all over Lennox’s room, she’s actively being re-kidnapped:
This is Tombstone, who I don’t think has shown up in these recaps before? He’s a mob guy, gray skin, very strong, basically made of stone. A better sparring partner for Luke Cage than Matt “The World’s Most Breakable Bones” Murdock.
Tombstone gets away with Lily. Matt goes on the hunt:
This just makes me laugh. (In the first panel, I believe he’s saying “I can’t promise that you will land in the river.”)
Finally, one of the people Matt beats up mentions seeing Tombstone - and the woman he’s working for. And the whole plot flips over in Matt’s mind:
Yeah, Lily’s not the victim here - she’s the mastermind, or at least she thinks she is. Tombstone is working for her. She killed Lennox, or at least was there when he was killed. And that dude is Juan, the bullfighter, who killed her father so that they could be together and have all her father’s ill-gotten gangster money.
But how can she smell like both Juan’s mother and Karen? IS KAREN JUAN’S MOTHER??? (No.)
Matt finally catches up with Lily and her “kidnappers”:
Matt, you absolute tart.
Matt manages, rather ingeniously, to take down Tombstone, and the powerless Juan absolutely panics - like, to the point of something chemical going weird on him:
Juan kind of collapses after slicing Lily with the sword (not too badly; also wasn’t it a rapier before?) and Matt knocks him out. Matt then tells Lily he knows she’s been playing him, and demands that she come clean:
And so Matt finally confronts the mastermind behind all of this, the person who had Foggy Nelson killed, who hired Danny Rand to pretend to be Daredevil, who hired Lily and Juan and Tombstone, and who has had at least four loose ends murdered by now:
VANESSA FISK???
But why? Well, as far as she sees it, her life was destroyed by Fisk and Matt’s endless battle, in which she was essentially a pawn. (They don’t mention it directly, but it’s very worth noting that Matt once essentially held her hostage, after she had spent god knows how long as a presumably sexually abused prisoner, in order to manipulate Fisk. Matt didn’t, like, promise not to be a gangster and then marry her and then go back to being a gangster, but he’s not exactly innocent here either.) She is now dying of Killedherownsonitis - seriously, she’s like “the doctors don’t know why all my organs are failing, but it’s because I killed Richard” - and before she goes, she has a deal to offer Matt:
She has enough pull to get the charges against Matt dropped, meaning he can resume his normal life. In exchange, he will get Fisk out of jail. And from then, he’ll know that every time Fisk kills, it will be on his conscience. This is the kind of tortured logic superhero comics end up with, in a world where no one except civilians stays dead and jails have revolving doors, but trust me when I say that this reveal and all of Vanessa’s supervillain explanations absolutely work in context.
Matt’s like “YOU USED TO BE COOL, MAN”:
He refuses to take the deal and storms out. Vanessa tells her minions to put everything into motion anyway, because as she sees it, Matt is essentially selfish, and will ultimately act in his own self-interest.
And so, the FBI Guy who has been trying to bring Matt down for issues and issues and issues is found dead in his apparent from apparent suicide (killing people and making it look like suicide is Vanessa’s signature move, it’s the third one in the Brubaker run so far), along with a note saying he framed Matt who is totally super duper not Daredevil. And Really Incredibly Blind Matt Murdock is found wandering a road back in the States, having “escaped” from being “held captive.”
Matt being Matt, he decides to hold a press conference to explain his kidnapping/disappearance/reappearance, because Matt fucking loves holding press conferences:
Fratt shippers, please take Ben’s line as the gift it is.
Rather than spin the erotic tale Ben is clearly angling for (and that Frank, watching his on his Murder Van TV, is dreaming of), Matt spins some bullshit about Frank hating defense attorneys for putting criminals back on the streets and wanting information on Matt’s clients and yadda yadda. Basically no one actually believes him but everyone likes Daredevil so they’re all like “Welcome home, Regular Matt Murdock Who Isn’t Daredevil!” and then they wink a lot.
Matt is back home, reunited with Milla and Becky and Dakota, when he senses something impossible in the hall:
I will never be over this hug, or those tears, or Foggy’s joyous face in the fourth panel.
Anyway yeah, now that Matt’s officially Not Daredevil, Foggy I guess no longer needs to be protected from Daredevil’s enemies? Or more accurately, the only reason the FBI was really holding him was because of Vanessa’s machinations, and she’s now released him.
What I find really interesting is that she basically justifies it to her minion by saying she’s showing Matt how sweet life can be so that it will hurt more when he inevitably ends up bleeding out in the trash again, but Matt sees it as proof that the Vanessa he knew, the good person she once was, wasn’t totally gone. I think he’s closer to correct.
In return, even though he got what he wanted from her and never promised her anything, Matt gets Fisk out of jail. (Which is, again, the tortured bullshit morality of comics, where you have to get the villain out of jail to do more villain stuff.) The FBI case is so hopelessly compromised that it’s not even hard. But he makes Fisk promise to renounce his American citizenship and leave the country forever, AND he waits until after Vanessa has died so that Fisk can’t bury her, which is pretty vicious. (Matt’s, like...not a nice person, guys.)
And thus this storyline’s all over but the rooftop heart to heart with Foggy!
They are textually talking about Fisk here. They are also textually talking about Karen, who Matt admits that he’s still not over.
But Karen’s death didn’t change Matt so much that the freaking Punisher had to get himself arrested to remind him who he was. Matt has acted erratically since Karen’s death, but Matt has always acted erratically. Foggy’s “death” made him go feral.
So yeah, I think Foggy is talking about two people here (and I think Brubaker wrote the conversation to be about two people). But Matt is talking about three.
Next Up: Lily Lucca comes to New York! It doesn’t end well for anyone!

Keegan-Michael Key
Keegan-Michael Key (born March 22, 1971) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer.
Key co-created and co-starred alongside Jordan Peele in Comedy Central's sketch series Key & Peele (20122015) and co-starred in USA Network's Playing House (2014–2017). He spent six seasons as a cast member on Mad TV (2004–2009) and has made guest appearances on the U.S. version of Whose Line is it Anyway? on The CW. He also appeared alongside Peele in the first season of the FX series Fargo in 2014, and had a recurring role on Parks and Recreation from 2013 to 2015. He hosted the U.S. version of The Planet's Funniest Animals on Animal Planet from 2005 until 2008.
Key has had supporting roles in several films, including Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), Don't Think Twice (2016), and Toy Story 4 (2019). Also in 2015, he appeared at the White House Correspondents' Dinner as the Key & Peele character Luther, President Barack Obama's anger translator. Key and Peele produced and starred in the 2016 action-comedy film Keanu. In 2017, Key made his Broadway debut in Steve Martin's Meteor Shower.
Early life
Key was born in Southfield, Michigan on March 22, 1971, the son of black father Leroy McDuffie and white mother Carrie Herr. He was adopted at a young age by a couple from Detroit, Michael Key and Patricia Walsh, who were both social workers. Like his birth parents, his adoptive parents were also a black man and white woman. Through his biological father, Key had two half-brothers, one of whom was comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie (1962–2011). Key only discovered the existence of his siblings after they had both died.
Key attended the University of Detroit Mercy as an undergraduate, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater in 1993, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in theater at Pennsylvania State University in 1996. While at the University of Detroit Mercy, he was a brother of Phi Kappa Theta.
Career
Mad TV
In 2004, Key joined the cast of Mad TV midway into the ninth season. He and Jordan Peele were cast against each other, but both ended up being picked after demonstrating great comedic chemistry. Key played many characters on the show. One of his most famous characters is "Coach Hines", a high school sports coach who frequently disrupts and threatens students and faculty members. On the penultimate episode of Mad TV, Hines revealed that he is the long-lost heir to the Heinz Ketchup company and only became a Catholic school coach to help delinquent teenagers like Yamanashi (Bobby Lee). During seasons 9 and 10, Key appeared as "Dr. Funkenstein" in blaxploitation parodies, with Peele playing the monster. Key also portrayed various guests on Real **********ing Talk like the strong African Rollo Johnson and blind victim Stevie Wonder Washington. He often goes "backstage" as Eugene Struthers, an ecstatic water-or-flower delivery man who accosts celebrities. There is also "Jovan Muskatelle", a shirtless man with a jheri curl and a shower cap. He interrupts live news broadcasts by a reporter (always played by Ike Barinholtz), annoying him with rapid fire accounts of events that have happened frequently exclaiming "It was crazy as hell!" Celebrities that Key impersonated on the show include Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Roscoe Orman (as his character Gordon from Sesame Street), Matthew Lillard, Bill Cosby, Al Roker, Terrell Owens, Tyler Perry, Keith Richards, Eddie Murphy (as his character James "Thunder" Early from the movie Dreamgirls), Sherman Hemsley (as his character George Jefferson on The Jeffersons), Charles Barkley, Sendhil Ramamurthy (as Mohinder Suresh), Tyson Beckford, Seal (originally played by Peele until Peele left the show at the end of season 13), Sidney Poitier, Lionel Richie, Barack Obama, Kobe Bryant and Jack Haley (as the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz). He also played female celebrities, including Phylicia Rashād, Robin Antin, and Eva Longoria (as Gabrielle Solis on a Desperate Housewives parody).
Key & Peele
Key and his former Mad TV castmate Jordan Peele starred in their own Comedy Central sketch series Key & Peele, which began airing on January 31, 2012 and ran for five seasons until September 9, 2015. Key and his comedy partner Jordan Peele starred in an episode of Epic Rap Battles of History, with Key playing Mahatma Gandhi and Peele playing Martin Luther King Jr. The pair returned to Epic Rap Battles of History with the "Muhammad Ali versus Michael Jordan" battle, with Key portraying Jordan.
Key was introduced by President Barack Obama at the 2015 White House Correspondents' Dinner as Luther, Obama's Anger Translator, one of Key's characters from Key & Peele.
Friends from College
Key plays the most prominent male character, Ethan Turner, on the Netflix ensemble comedy Friends from College, about a group of Harvard University graduates and friends now in their late 30s living in New York City. Personal update
What’s up you few mighty souls still following and actually caring?
This past week has been some kind of a hell ride and I thought it might be a good thing to give you friends a little update on how things are going. As Christmas (which I don’t care much for) is coming upon us I keep my butt mostly at home because all those people hasting around frantically wasting money on shit to give people they only rudimentally care for stress me out beyond exhaustion. I enjoy my place and try not to fall back into the depression pit. Latest tumblr-news do not really help with that but I decided not to panic and for now I will not go anywhere - mostly because I have no idea where to go and what to do there (I’m looking at you twitter and instagram) What I DO consider is to eventually move all my Richard Armitage (and his portrayed characters) related writing to Ao3 (search for pixiedurango there, so far it’s packed with Dragon Age fanfic exclusively but I’m needy for kudos and comments so don’t be shy) to have a backup - just in case shit will hit the fan. It’s a shitton of work and I’m not really motivated to actually do it, but for the sake of my writing I’ll probably start the work eventually.
Then there is the DA fandom coming back alive and you know what? I don’t care for all those what-ifs and Meta circling around (and will most likely not reblog any of it) but it is so fucking amazing to see all those wonderful people getting all hyped and pumped up and DUDE! I’m so hyped and pumped up, too and hope Bioware will take the time to make it fucking amazing!!!
I will continue to fangirl about various handsome bastards and shamelessly reblog all those gorgeous guys (probably less shirtless shots from now on but that is not my fault!!!! *glares at tumblr*). But I’m still very fond of all those amazing dudes, namely Richard Armitage, Matthew Goode, Mark Dacascos, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Jason Momoa, Hugh Jackman and a bunch of others. My love on here will continue as long as this hellsite allows me to. Other than that I’m excited to tell that therapy works well and that my latest obsession with Bullet Journaling actually helps me a great deal. Not that I will ever have a neat and organized BuJo but what I have is a wonderful chaos of BuJo, ArtJournal, JunkJournal and my personal brain nuggets. It’s awesome to work on it and if any of you is interested to see what I’m doing I might put some of my spreads out there to ramble with you guys . Finally I am VERY happy to announce two other big things: 1st: next week I’m going for a pre-Christmas trip with my brother and I’m super excited to finally be able to see Paris!
2nd: My broke-af-ass actually bought a ticket to see my man Hugh Jackman next May in Hamburg/Germany. *uncontrollable screeches*
That’s a lot I guess. And I’m very excited about everything that’s going on in and around my life. I’d still be very happy to have a chat with any of you guys, no matter whether long time mutuals or new friends. Just drop me a line and we’ll be good. For everyone else: Merry Christmas, happy Hannukkah or just a great time at the end of a hell year, hoping that everything will get better in the one to come. Love you all!

A nudge on his shoulder pulled him out of sleep into a semi-awakened state. The sun was too bright for early morning, so he must have slept in, and he blinked repeatedly in protest as his body begged him to linger in bed even longer. But something was off, he began to realize as he sensed a rhythmic breathing that wasn’t his own, noting that there was a warm, decidedly feminine form lying across his chest, and his bare chest at that.
Mary. Mary had come to his bedroom last night. And his mother was currently standing over them trying to nudge him awake.
His eyes flew wide open, and he breathed in through his nose, careful not to move too quickly lest he disturb the woman who’d cried into his pajamas last night and kissed his naked skin. But Mary nuzzled in closer, effectively pinning him to his bed in full view of his mother even though her eyes were still closed.
He wished his were at the moment. Even with them wide open, he couldn’t make out his mother’s expression at all. Isobel gazed at him wordlessly, her eyes moving to Mary’s bare arms dotted with a patchwork of ugly purple splotches left by a husband Matthew wanted to kill with his own two hands.
“She couldn’t sleep,” he whispered, watching as his mother nodded once.
“Well, she’s sleeping now, “ Isobel replied as her eyes creased in thought. “I daresay she needs it.” She then looked back at him before turning and walking out of his bedroom.
What in God’s name had just happened?
Warm breaths feathered across his neck, tracing an invisible line between her form and his heart. He tugged the blanket back over them, his fingers moving to trace the curves of her back now that watchful eyes were gone. She sighed into him, pale lips moving as her arm possessed him further, his body responding all too quickly to such an intimate touch.
Mary Carlisle had quickly become everything to him. And he would make sure she never had to fear that bastard of a husband of hers ever again.
He laid there with her, not daring to move as morning’s shadows moved stealthily across his bedroom marking time’s all too hasty passage. He’d gladly stay wrapped up with her like this all day if his blasted bladder would leave him alone, but it was complaining insistently now, letting him know all too clearly that he had to either get up or make a mess of himself in more ways than one.
“Are you alright?”
Her voice was muffled against his chest, it’s edges softened by sleep and spent tears.
“I’m fine,” he replied, rubbing her back with an open palm. “I just desperately need to visit the loo.”
She sat up quickly at this, her pillow-mussed hair the most adorable sight he’d ever beheld.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered, running fingers through hair sticking up several ways at once. “I didn’t mean--”
“It’s alright, Mary,” he breathed, cupping her cheek in his palm, willing himself not to wince at the black and puffy eye she was sporting. Her lip was still swollen, and she looked somehow smaller than she had last night. “No need to worry over a silly thing like this.”
“It’s not silly,” she murmurs, swallowing self-consciously. “At least not when you’re the one who has to go.”
He chuckled as she stood, allowing him to slide his body to the side of the bed before she both located and handed him his prosthesis.
“Can I help?” she questioned as he began to attach it to his leg. He paused to look up at her, half-touched, half-mortified at what he was allowing her to watch.
“I’m used to it,” he stated, feeling the tips of his ears begin to burn. She nodded, taking a step back with a look of uncertainty that made his stomach cinch. “But if you truly want to assist me…”
His words faded as her eyes met his head-on, their bruised and haunted quality crying out for reassurance just as assuredly as if she’d spoken.
“You don’t have to coddle me, you know,” she uttered, reading his thoughts as clearly as if they were in print.
“No,” he returned. “But I’d like to help take care of you, if you don’t mind, that is.”
She knelt in front of him then, touching where living flesh met science, helping to secure his artificial limb, her breath tickling the bare skin of his leg.
“Only if you don’t mind that I want to help take care of you, too.”
Her words were resolute, spoken with a resolve he couldn’t help but admire.
“You drive a hard bargain, Mary Rose,” he grinned, melting at the small smile that spreads across battered features. He utterly refused to call her Mary Carlisle.
“Don’t you forget it, soldier,” she returned, leaning over to kiss him gently, stealing yet another piece of his heart with deft fingers. “Should I try to sneak back into my room now?”
His expression fell, straightening her spine at once.
“Mother was in here earlier this morning,” he confessed, feeling her exhale across his skin. “She’s already aware that you slept in here last night.”
“Thank God we decided to leave our clothes on,” she muttered, his ears now hot enough to melt wax.
“Well, some of our clothes, anyway,” he noted as he reached for his discarded pajama top. She blushed then, the pink nearly invisible under angry purple, yellow and black splotches, but there all the same. “I should put this on, I suppose,” he added. “Mother seeing me shirtless once in one day is one time too many.”
She smiled as she grabbed up her robe and slid it onto her body.
“If you hadn’t stopped things…” she began, her hands hesitating as they reached for her sash.
Her brows flickered into her scalp as he reached out to cup her cheek.
“I didn’t want to stop things,” he confessed with a lopsided smile. “Believe me. But it was the right thing to do.”
She nodded as she stood, stepping back to allow him the room he needed to grab a hold of his cane and push himself upright. She gazed at him with something akin to wonder, something he wasn’t used to seeing when eyes fell on his injured body. He felt taller when he was with her, taller and complete in a manner no other human being had ever made him feel.
“Well,” she muttered as she secured her robe and tightened it around her waist. “I’ll leave you to it then.”
Eyes held each other for a breathless moment, teasing, beckoning, wanting until he could stand it no longer. He leaned forward to kiss her, nearly missing her in his trajectory and losing his balance in the process. She braced her arms against his chest, steadying him as he righted himself with his cane, looking back at him in concern.
“Are you alright?”
His skin burned as he looked into her eyes.
“Other than being completely and utterly mortified, I’m peachy.”
She grinned then, feathering a kiss across his lips the nearly set him on fire.
“Don’t be mortified,” she breathed. “After all, I’m the one who has to go out there and face your mother.”
His head dropped with his exhale.
“I think that task has been assigned to us both.” He looked at his bedroom door which his mother had thankfully closed when she’d exited earlier. His palm rubbed his chin, and he wondered just what Isobel had been thinking since finding them wrapped up together, half-naked, emotionally spent, and loathe to let each other go.
“I’m the one who came to your bedroom,” she added. “After showing up unexpectedly on your doorstep last night. Technically, I’m the instigator in all of this.”
Her gaze hollowed, making a chill ran up his good leg.
“No. None of this is your fault, Mary,” he assured her. “What that husband of yours did to you, the fact that you needed a safe place to stay, that you couldn’t sleep after…” The words stuck in his throat, clinging to his esophagus as if they’d been coated in glue. “After he hurt you.”
She swallowed loudly enough for him to hear, and he wondered if she’d feared for her life last night, if she’d prayed someone would hear her screams and come to her aid, if she’d tried to fight back as punches flew and her home shattered at her feet.
“I hate him,” Matthew said, his throat burning as if his sentence were made of fire. “So help me, Mary, if I ever meet the man face to face, I may just…”
“No.”
Her voice was steady, her gaze resolute.
“The fact that I’ve dragged you into the middle of my divorce is bad enough,” she said, her eyes falling yet again. “If anything happened to you because of me, I’d...I’d never be able to live with myself, Matthew.”
He cupped her chin in his hand, drawing her gaze back to his, dotting a kiss to lips swollen by the wrong means.
“I jumped feet first into the middle of your divorce,” he corrected. “There was no dragging necessary.” Her chin quivered as her fingers clutched his pajama top, and he wrapped one arm around her as she wrapped both of hers around his waist. “I love you. Remember? We’re in this together, you and I.”
She nodded, still reluctant to look at him.
“I remember,” she managed. “I just don’t understand why. Why you love me, I mean.”
He caressed where Richard had left marks, wiping a stray tear onto his thumb, absorbing this small piece of her into his very marrow.
“Because you’re a part of me, now,” he replied. “Because you fit me far better than my artificial leg ever could.”
She tried to smile through insistent tears, allowing him to pull her into his chest as he kissed her hair.
“I only pray I don’t contaminate you,” she whispered.
“Not going to happen,” he insisted. “You’re too pure for that, Mary, far better than you think you are.” He felt her shake her head into his chest, and his free hand reached up to cup her hair, her skull, her very being to try to show her what was so evident to him. “You’re not the person that Richard has led you to believe you are.”
She hiccuped and stood up straight.
“I’m not sure I’m all you think I am, either.”
Her words cracked open as they fell off her lips.
“No,” he agreed, surprising her. “You’re more.”
She shook her head, looking into him as no one ever had.
“I hope I’m allowed to be your Mary,” she began. “For all eternity.”
He felt her tremble, and he kissed her forehead, carefully avoiding the side purpled by a man’s fist.
“You’ll always be my Mary,” he breathed. “And I’m all the luckier for it.”
A small commotion was heard from the kitchen, and she stepped away from him, smiling as she wiped her eyes.
“I should go and help your mother,” she said. “After all, she gave me a place to sleep last night. The least I can do is help her with breakfast.”
“I’ll join you momentarily,” he stated, smiling at her as she opened his bedroom door and stepped out into the hallway. He heard voices and sent up a prayer that his mother’s sense and tact would prevail over the instinct to protect her adult son. But he had to relieve himself, there was no way around it, so he made his way to the loo, gratified to hear what sounded like congenial conversation being had between the two women in his life.
His thoughts raced as he washed his hands, and he gazed into the small mirror, touching the cheek she’d kissed, closing his eyes as her scent washed over him. She was a goddess, his Mary, and he be damned if any man would ever lay a finger on her again, especially Richard Carlisle.
He splashed water on his face, drying it with a towel as his mind formulated a plan that made sense to him. He’d visit the club this afternoon, would let the band know why their lead singer had been unable to perform last night and would ask them to let him know if Mary’s husband showed up trying to find her. In the meantime, he’d contact his mother’s cousin, a police superintendent from Hastings to ask for his advice in how to best proceed.
Yes. This was good. This was progress. Simply waiting for Richard to make the next move was no good at all.
Plan in mind, he made his way toward the kitchen, the scents of toast and eggs making his stomach rumble as Mary brought him a cup of tea.
“Thank you,” he said, relieved to see her looking more relaxed than she had in his bedroom.
“Here you go, dear,” Isobel cut in, handing Matthew a plate as he sat down at the small table. “Mary, why don’t you sit down and eat, too. I suspect you need nourishment.”
The younger woman nodded and sat down beside him, and he dared a quick squeeze to her knee while his mother wasn’t looking.
“You should eat, too, Mother,” he said.
“I’ve already eaten,” Isobel clarified, making her way towards the table with a plate for Mary. “But I’ll join the two of you for another cup of tea.”
They ate in silence a few moments, each afraid to speak, each wondering if one stray train of thought would launch an amiable breakfast into a confrontation nobody wanted.
“I’m sorry you had difficulty sleeping, Mary,” Isobel finally stated, bypassing small talk and getting right to the point. “I suppose you had to much on your mind.”
Mary took a slow sip of her tea, setting her cup down before making eye contact with the older woman.
“I did,” she replied. “And still do, to be honest.” Isobel nodded, eyeing Mary before directing her attention towards her son.
“Are you planning on contacting the authorities?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
Their answers clashed mid-air, bringing their eyes together even as their ideas collided.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Mary stated. “Richard is volatile.”
“Which is why he needs to be in jail,” Matthew cut in, reaching over to touch her arm. “He can’t be allowed to roam around free, Mary, not after what he did to you.”
“But if he catches up with you--”
“He won’t,” Matthew insisted. “What did you say that he knew about us? That you were seeing someone? He doesn’t know my name or where I live, does he?”
Mary paused and looked down at her tea.
“No,” she confessed. “Thank God. But that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t discover both of those things if he chose to go digging.”
“Nor does it mean that he will,” Matthew said, willing his voice to sound as calm and reasonable as it could. “Mary, I refuse to live in fear of this man. He needs to face the consequences of what he did to you.”
She began to worry her hands, clasping them tightly together in order to keep them from trembling.
“He’ll make it sound like it’s my fault,” she uttered. “He always does.”
He scooted his chair closer to hers so he could clasp her hands firmly.
“Look at me,” he insisted, remaining silent until she did just that. “This is not your fault, nor has it ever been.”
“Matthew’s right,” Isobel interjected, instantly capturing both of their attention. “Men who treat women the way he treated you are quite adept at passing the blame off on their victims, even though the responsibility rests solely with them. The Richards of this world must be made to answer for their crimes, Mary. I think you know and believe this.”
Mary’s head fell, her expression far too wary.
“I do,” the younger woman admitted. “But you know how difficult it is to get the authorities to take you seriously when the man in question is your husband.”
Isobel sucked in a breath before taking a deliberate sip of her tea.
“You’ve spoken with the authorities before?” she asked , receiving a slow nod as an answer.
“Several months ago,” Mary replied. “It wasn’t this bad, I mean, he rarely left a mark, he was smart that way. But he twisted my arm so badly that I sprained it, and…” She paused, taking another sip of tea. “And I decided to report him.”
“Nothing happened?”
The words fell incredulously off his tongue, stinging on their way out.
“He was called into the police station for questioning,” Mary answered. “But when he told them that I sang at a nightclub, that I’d left him and filed for divorce, well, they assumed I was both a gold-digger and a woman of loose morals who got roughed up by a patron one night and decided to blame her husband.”
“Dear God,” Matthew whispered as he clenched his fist repeatedly. He imagined his hands around Richard Carlilse’s throat, could all too easily feel the imagined sensation of his fingers cutting off the man’s air supply, thus forcing him to beg for mercy.
“The husband is usually given the benefit of the doubt,” Mary continued, her shoulders slumping in near defeat. “While the wife is left to fend for herself.”
“It’s so wrong,” Matthew uttered, rubbing his fingers over his scalp.
“It is,” Isobel agreed. “It’s been wrong for centuries, yet it continues. And you’re right, Mary. It can certainly be more difficult to see justice served in an abusive marriage situation. But it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. And if you stand up to Richard now, you may protect other women from him, as well as yourself.”
Mary gazed at Isobel, swallowing with difficulty.
“That’s what I want,” she stated. “It’s what I’ve wanted for longer than I can remember now, but it’s so bloody hard sometimes. He has means at his disposal, while I…” She broke off and shook her head. “I have a job singing at a nightclub just to make ends meet.”
“She’s been trying to divorce him for months,” Matthew added, giving Mary’s hands a gentle squeeze.
“And he doesn’t like that fact, I take it,” Isobel observed, watching Mary slowly shake her head. “Well, I must say that it’s very brave of you to stand up for yourself as you are. Too many women let fear keep them from taking that first step away from an abuser.”
“I don’t feel very brave,” Mary murmured, looking up to meet Isobel’s gaze.
“The bravest souls usually don’t,” Isobel replied with a gentle touch to Mary’s arm. A tear trickled down the younger woman’s cheek, and she wiped her face with her napkin, trying her best to keep her composure in tact.
“I told Mary that she can stay here with us for as long as she needs,” he said, watching his mother carefully. Isobel’s eyes flickered in his direction, claiming his directly before she nodded in agreement.
“Absolutely,” she agreed, straightening her spine. “We’re here to support you in any way that we can.”
Mary shook her head.
“But why? Why would you do this--open up your home, take in a stranger…”
“You’re hardly a stranger,” Matthew argued, remembering the feel of her breasts in his hands.
“I am to your mother,” Mary countered.
“But not to Matthew,” Isobel said. She looked back at her son without blinking before offering him a small smile. “And I trust his judgement.”
He grinned back at her, breathing a silent prayer of thanks for her support in this matter.
“Then I suppose I will, too,” Mary stated, gazing at him with eyes in which he could happily drown. She inhaled and pressed her lips together before clearing her throat. “If both of you really believe that contacting the authorities is the right thing for me to do, then I’ll do it.”
His smiled in relief, drawing a full breath he hoped conveyed confidence. They would do this, he and Mary. They would report her husband, would see justice done so her divorce could be finalized and they would be granted the freedom to actually envision and plan a shared future.
“Good for you,” Isobel stated, giving Mary a smile that warmed him everywhere at once.
“And remember,” Matthew added, once again squeezing Mary’s hand, thanking whatever powers were responsible for bringing her into his life. “You don’t have to do this alone.”
“Thank God,” Mary breathed, clutching his hand so tightly that he could feel her terror.

Matthew knew his father had enemies and one of the many ways to get to him was through him. The male had heard so much about one of his father’s biggest rival which was Richard. Matthew was charming he had his way with words and people. People wanted him or wanted to be him and he used that to his advantage it was one of the many things that made him dangerous. The male had been watching the other, wondering what their plan was and he knew that his father would not easily give into Richard’s demands.
“You know that you are wasting your time right,” he spoke voice charming and sweet as he stood shirtless and in boxers, leaning against the wall as he watched the other walk into the room. “There is something you want and have never been able to get, you want me,” he added with a half smile knowing that his charms slowly gotten into the other’s head. @rcsengxrten

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4 Review (Spoiler-Free)
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Chilling Adventures of Sabrina review contains no spoilers, except for some information that was presented in the series’ trailers. It is based on all eight episodes of season 4 that were made available to critics.
“Once more into the fray, right guys?”
Let’s just bottom line things right up front here: This is Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s strongest — and most entertaining — season. So naturally (in what is rapidly becoming the streaming giant’s signature move) Netflix canceled the series just as it reached its creative peak. The eight episodes of this fourth and final chapter of the Archie Comics-inspired series have it making bold character choices and plot developments that are genuinely surprising.
Indeed, there is a finality to these new installments that make one question how soon into the production process the show’s creative team was informed of its cancellation. (Back in July news broke that a fifth season would have the Greendale gang squaring off against Archie and company in a Riverdale crossover, but how far along these plans were remains a mystery). Whomever knew what and when may just be a moot point, as ultimately Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holds nothing back this time around. And that is as liberating as it is enjoyable to watch.
When the third season ended, Kiernan Shipka was doing double duty as both the Greendale-bound Sabrina Spellman and her hell-based counterpart, Sabrina Morningstar (a version of herself who had fully embraced her Satanic lineage and married the ever-shirtless Caliban). As the new episodes get underway, we witness the dramatic consequences that the ‘Brinas violating of the universe’s laws have. Making matters even more complicated are the Lovecraftian machinations of Father Blackwood, who is determined to bring the Eldritch Terrors to Earth.
Oh hell yes.
These dark actions provide the running theme for the season, with each installment featuring on a new Terror for Sabrina and company to try to defeat. Each is realized as well as possibly can be for a TV budget, even Netflix’s pockets aren’t deep enough to fully create these Lovecraftian beasties.
Despite suddenly thrusting a new storytelling formula into the mix, there is nothing that feels like typical “monster of the week” fare. (Real talk though, it would be amazing to see the Fright Club take on episodic adversities a la Scooby-Doo). Instead, these threats serve as vessles to push ahead the overarching plot and characters towards the series’ endgame.
And what an endgame that is. Without getting into spoiler territory, it’s safe to say that the stakes here have never been higher — as all of existence risks being sucked into “The Void” a Galactus-esque nothingness that wants to devour the universe. Several of them actually, as the standout seventh episode has it. Written by Donna Thorland & Matthew Barry, “Chapter Thirty-Five: The Endless” is a daringly hilarious effort that approaches Charlie Kaufman-esque levels of meta that leads directly into the beautiful series finale written by showrunner Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa.
Even with the fate of everything on the line, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as never been as much fun. From bringing back TGIF Sabrina the Teenage Witch aunties Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea and showcasing The Venture Bros.‘ James Urbaniak smarmy charm in a small-but-pivotal role, to hosting a demonic battle of the bands (this season’s musical numbers are, for the most part, handled much more organically) and dealing with Hilda’s undead mother-in-law, there are plenty of big comedy moments to be found here. Much needed ones too, he writes ominously.
Unfortunately, some characters and plots fall slightly to the wayside given all that is going on here, with the characters of Ambrose, Roz, Theo and Robin all suffering somewhat as a result. Richard Coyne’s Father Blackwood gets less screentime here than in previous seasons, yet his actions involving unleashing the Eldritch Terrors are felt strongly in each episode. Elsewhere, Luke Cook (late of Katy Keene) returns here with scene-stealing aplomb as Lucifer, and Gavin Leatherwood’s Nick Scratch gets a shot at true redemption. As always, Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto deliver solid support as Sabrina’s aunts, and Michelle Gomez delivers a career-best performance portraying the increasingly sullied Mary Wardwell and Lilith, who has perhaps the most disturbing arc this season. But guiding them all is Kiernan Shipka, whose portrayal of how both Sabrina’s respond to the light and darkness of their lives, runs the gamut between heartbreaking and hilarious.
Sabrina is at her most realized in this eight episodes, as is Greendale. Over 36 episodes spanning just over a year in the lives of these characters audiences have been taken to the underworld and back several times. There’s a cruelty to this show being cancelled at its best. But for now this story is finished, in, it must be said, an immensely satisfying way. From a purely cynical business point-of-view it feels like somehow, someway this IP with these actors will be resurrected sooner rather than later. But for now? Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was cut down in its prime. That might be the most hellish development involving this series of all.

Matthew Lewis Discuss ITV ‘Girlfriends’ in Entertainment Weekly Interview
ITV drama Girlfriends written by Kay Mellor is now available for streaming in the US and Canada on Acorn.tv. Matthew Lewis talks with Entertainment Weekly to discuss what made him interested in the show, working with two Harry Potter actresses (Miranda Richardson and Zoë Wanamaker) and his concern about being known only for his looks.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did you get involved with Girlfriends, and what interested you about the role of Tom?
MATTHEW LEWIS: I’ve worked with the writer, Kay Mellor, twice before. I’ve known Kay for probably nearly 20 years now. She actually gave me the first role that I ever had, when I was 5 years old. She sends me scripts for different things, and she sent me the scripts for this and she said she wanted me to play Tom. I devoured the scripts in no time, read all six, and immediately gave her a call and just chatted to her about her vision for it. Even before I called her, I realized I wanted to do it. But once on the phone, you realize very quickly just how much passion she has for this. She’s always been a champion of stories about normal working-class people, but this one really came from Kay’s heart. There was so much of herself in these characters and her friends in these characters and in these stories. Once she explained to me her idea for it, her vision for it — not just for my character, but for the whole story — I couldn’t say no, really.
This is a bit of a departure for you — a single dad who has a police record and is on house arrest. What’s it like delving into a character like that who is maybe a bit edgier than some of the other roles you’ve taken on, and is that something you purposely seek out?
When I first finished Harry Potter, it was probably a conscious decision that I wanted to take roles that were very, very different. Less so now. I feel that I was very fortunate after Harry Potter that the roles that came up did offer me the opportunity to play drastically different roles, whether it was in Happy Valley or Ripper Street or Me Before You or whatever. The roles that came up were so eclectic and different from Neville that I felt I’d done what I set out to do — to show a different side of my acting and what I could do, really. The range was larger than Neville, as it were. Now, seven years later, I felt like I achieved that. I achieved what I wanted to achieve personally, that I don’t sit and think, “Oh, I must do a guy who’s been in prison.” I think out of my last six roles, three have them have got a record, so I’ve ticked that box now. I’m just drawn to stories that people can relate to, stories that people can find a piece of themselves in and that they’re inspired to or relate to or just enjoy. Luckily, that’s what keeps coming up. I wouldn’t shy away from anything nowadays. I wouldn’t deliberately turn down a role because it’s too similar to this or what not. Physically I’ve changed a lot since I was in Harry Potter, which probably is one of the main reasons I’m not still approached with those kinds of roles anymore.
Going off of your mentioning that physical change — in the very first episode, we see you shirtless, and that’s received a lot of play in the trailers. Obviously much has been made of your appearance and this slang term of “Longbottoming.” Was shooting that something that gave you pause, like, “Oh no, I’ll be feeding into that?” Or what did you think?
Yeah, it’s a tricky one really because it’s all about context, that kind of thing, and in this series, the joke was that he’s applying fake tan. That had to be very visible, that he was applying fake tan and he wasn’t very good at it and he didn’t know what he was doing. Frankly, in that scene, the character’s almost pathetic. He’s covered in this lotion and he looks ridiculous, and it was more about trying to look silly than anything else. But obviously you have that concern when that becomes a talking point — like, “Oh, you’ve changed from when you were younger and you look like this,” and all this. As much as I have changed and I would like to be able to showcase a change in terms of my range, I don’t want to get bogged down in it either. I don’t want to be known as the guy who changed into someone who looks better or whatever. It is — I don’t want to say a concern — but it certainly is something I think about when I take roles. When opportunities come up sometimes and you read in the first sentence of the character description “has great abs,” I’m like, I’m not so sure I want to do that. Not least because I don’t have great abs, but because you don’t want to get known for one thing.
The show reunites you with Zoë Wanamaker as your mother, whom keen Harry Potter fans will recognize as flying instructor Madam Hooch in the first film, when Neville breaks his wrist. What was it like reuniting with her and working with her as an adult actor and playing her son?
It’s wonderful, actually. I was a very shy boy, a very nervous kind of boy, a bit like Neville actually. I don’t think I really spoke to many people on the set that weren’t my age, whether that was crew, directors, DPs, or the adult actors around us, who were all wonderful and very approachable, but I was just such a nervous kid that I didn’t really form strong relationships and bonds with them. It was only that I got older and matured and grew in confidence in myself that suddenly I started to have these relationships. I look back on Potter and I think, “Oh God, I wish I spent more time talking to Gary Oldman. I wish I spent more time talking to Richard Harris or whatever.” Lucky for me, I’ve been able to continue my career and have had the opportunity to work with people from Harry Potter again on different projects and have those relationships. It’s brilliant. Robbie Coltrane, who I don’t think I hardly said anything to during filming, I now text him
To come on to set and have Miranda Richardson and Zoë Wanamaker — Zoë playing my mother, and to be able to have this relationship. I was always terrified that none of these people would even remember who I was, that they’d be like, “Oh you were Neville — who is that? I don’t know who you were.” They’re all just so charming and so full of humility. And Zoë straightaway was like, “I’ve been so looking forward to it. I was so thrilled when Kay told me you were taking this role.” It was just so nice to be able to speak to her and not feel like this terrified little boy, and to be able to just be an actor on set with her and to talk about the old times, but just enjoy the now.
It’s still really rare to see storylines that circle around older women; was that something that attracted you to the project and something you’d like to see more of personally?
Absolutely. On that phone call I had with Kay, you could see how much it meant to her from that perspective, and what I meant when I said there’s a lot of her in this script. What Kay said was there’s just not a lot on television for women of that age, for women full stop. Obviously there’s a lot more women playing lead roles on our TV screens than ever before, but in truth, it’s still not an equal playing field. So to have three strong women in these lead roles and then to have them of a certain age is just, it’s wonderful, it’s brilliant. There is a huge group of people who are marginalized and don’t often get heroes they can relate to on TV. This is filling a void there and also being performed by three fantastic actresses, who I’ve grown up watching on television and film. When Kay described it to me and I heard her passion for it, it felt like a wonderful opportunity to be involved in. Kay said at the read-through before we all sat down to read the first script, “So often throughout my career, I’ve watched television and I’ve seen men being propped up and supported by women who are playing the wife of, the mother of, the daughter of, the secretary of, etc., and finally I’ve written something where it’s the men that are supporting these women. It’s the women who are leading and the men who are being the husbands of, the sons of, the secretaries of.” When she said that, I just thought that was something brilliant.
For those who might still be on the fence about watching, what’s your quick pitch for them to tune in?
In terms of pedigree, you won’t find much better than Kay Mellor. I don’t think she’s ever had a poor script in her, to be honest. Everything she’s written has been very, very well received critically and by the general public. In this particular series, we’ve got what may on the face of it feel quite niche, [but] it’s very accessible to everyone. These are real people — every single one of these characters, not just the three women, every one of these characters are quite a bit relatable. They’re people you know; they are you. It’s a piece of England that, maybe in America, people aren’t really aware of. It’s not London, it’s the north. It’s kind of grittier, it’s more real, it’s more human. The issues that these people face are universal, and there may be some dark moments, some real heart-racing drama, but that just makes the humor, of which there is plenty, so much more heightened and laugh-out-loud funny. There’s something for everyone.
The fifth episode of Girlfriends premieres on ITV at 9pm this Wednesday, 31st January 2018.

Kumail Nanjiani gets swole for Marvel’s Eternals, shares pics: ‘Never thought I’d post a thirsty shirtless’ - hollywood
Pakistan-origin actor-comedian Kumail Nanjiani’s latest post, where he’s seen flaunting a muscular physique has set social media alight. Nanjiani has a new physique for upcoming Marvel superhero film The Eternals, reports aceshowbiz.com.He took to Instagram on Monday to post two shirtless shots showing off his perfect ripped body and made clear the transformation, for his role as Kingo in the star-studded comic book adaptation, took a full year of intense training and dieting. View this post on Instagram I never thought I’d be one of those people who would post a thirsty shirtless, but I’ve worked way too hard for way too long so here we are. You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I found out a year ago I was going to be in Marvel’s Eternals and decided I wanted to transform how I looked. I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world. I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time. So big thanks to @grantrobertsfit who started working with me at the beginning of the year and made me understand true physical pain for months and months. Then, once we started shooting, a massive thanks to @davidhigginslondon and his team (@ellispartridge, @thebeardypt, @tomcheesemanfitness) for training me almost every day and making me strong, limber and injury free. I can almost touch my toes now. (And thank you for forcing me to do cheat meals David.) Matthews Street Catering for their delicious and healthy meals. And finally, the biggest thanks goes to @emilyvgordon for putting up with me complaining and talking about only working out and dieting for the last year. I promise I’ll be interesting again some day. #thirstyshirtless (Photo by @markupson.) (edit: I left off one very important person: @lancecallahan who trained me for 6 years and helped me build the foundation I could use to do this. Thank you!)
