After the introductions, we all sit down at the table. Me, Chris, my older brother, and my parents. It had been nerve wracking for both of us, especially me. I'd been scared of Chris meeting my dad, since the latter is protective and doesn't take bullshit. Chris is a fairly goofy guy, but he managed to tone it down for this evening.

At least, I thought.

Everything is going good, the food’s warm, conversation’s flowing, and it’s a generally comfortable atmosphere. Until I think about my food too hard. While my brother’s chatting about hockey with Chris, my taste buds alert my brain of something missing.

Salt. I look around the table until my eye catches the green shaker, situated between the plates of my dad and my boyfriend. It’s too far out of my reach, so I innocently call out.

“Pass the salt daddy?”

In the moment right after, I realise my mistake. Oh shit-

My dad reaches for the salt. And so does Chris. The young boy freezes, but it’s too late to act like he was stretching. My dad freezes too, his gaze narrowing.

My brother’s jaw drops. My mum looks shocked. All because of one, stupidly sexualised word (FOR NO REASON). Chris laughs awkwardly, trying to play it off. “Hehe, uh, funny joke, right?” I mentally grab his collar and shake some sense into him. That idiot.

I fake laugh too, smacking his arm hard enough that he realises his acting is horrible. My dad does not think it’s a funny joke.

His voice is cold as he replies. “Now tell me son, why did you go for the salt shaker when she asked me to grab it?” Chris swallows, looking for me for help. But after the initial surprise, I was struggling to hold back a laugh. My brother was snorting into his sleeve. Even my mother was giggling a little. Chris looked hopeless, getting flamed by this older man while his family were all finding this hilarious.

“He didn’t mean it dad, c’mon. It was a joke” Chris eagerly nods, agreeing with me. “Yes sir- it was a joke, sorry-”

My dad sized the poor boy up for a torturous amount of time. The clock ticking on the wall fills the deafening silence as we listen for his ‘verdict’.

He waits, one minute, two, before shaking his head and sighing.

“You kids and your weird humour. I’m too old for this”

Chris immediately relaxes, an easy grin spreading across his face, before my father’s stern expression makes him sit up.

“Uh, you don’t seem old sir. You could fool me” I shoot an incredulous look at him. What the fuck was he saying?

He only gets a blank reaction from my dad. Before he breaks out into a roaring laugh, shattering the tension.

“You’re just like me when I was your age boy” Chris perks up, but his face lights up as my dad adds, with a somewhat disturbed look.

“Except I didn’t make my girlfriend call me daddy”

It was around 7:00 PM and Nick and I were cooking dinner, waiting for his brothers to come back from playing basketball with their friends.

“Wait…how much salt?” Nick said, hand holding the salt shaker over the pan.

“Nononononono!” I said, panicked, while scurried over to him and took the salt out of his hand. I replaced the salt with pepper and he let out a soft “ohhhhhh”.

Not long after, Chris and Matt arrived home, sweaty but smiling. I was putting dinner on the table, when Chris walked by e and gave me a kiss. 

“That smells great mama” he whispered in my ear.

“Don’t be doing all that lovey-dovey shit over my dinner!” Matt yelled, getting a root beer from the fridge. Nick proceeded to smack him on the back of the head. 

I gigged and gave Chris a big hug around his torso, leaning on him. I heard him suck in a sharp breath. I looked up saw him wincing. 

“You okay baby?” I asked, quickly letting go of him. 

“Yeah yeah, I’m fine.” He said, giving me one last kiss before heading to the fridge to get a drink.

Only then did I notice his limp.

We sat down to eat dinner, talking surprisingly calm. That was the case until Nick when on a 10 minuet tangent about birds…again. Chris stayed rather quiet though. I assumed he was hurt from basketball, but didn’t want to talk about it in front of us brothers. But that was fine. 

I’ll just ask him after dinner I thought to myself, finishing up my food and starting the dishes.

Once I’ve finished the dishes, I say good night to Nick and Matt who are lounging on the couch, watching a movie, and then make my way down the stairs to Chris’s room. After dinner he disappeared, I assumed to go to his room.

I open the door to see him sitting on the edge of his bed, hair wet. He just got out of the shower, I thought.

His shoulders were slouched and he was staring off at something on the carpet. I closed the door behind me and walked over to him.

“Baby, what’s the matter?” I said, going to stand between his legs. I put my hands at the nape of his neck, playing with his hair.

He didn’t respond. He only rested his forehead on my stomach and let out a shaky breath.

“Chris? You need to tell me what’s wrong bubs.” I told him. He lifted his head and looked at me, a pain filled expression on his face.

“Hurts.” Chris mumbled, slightly pouting.

“What hurts baby?” I said standing back looking him up and down to try and find any sign of what was the matter. He slowly lifts up his sweatpants

He winced as the fabric went over his knee, to show a big gash, surrounded by black, purple, and yellow bruises. It was also super swollen.

“Chris! What happened!” I asked, making my way to his bathroom for the first aid kit.

“Fell.” He said, shrugging. I can tell he’s in pain, even though he’s trying to be tough. I walk back to him holding some alcohol, cotton balls, and a big bandaid.

“Alright lemme see.” I said, kneeling in front of him with an alcohol slacked cotton ball ready. Chris extended his knee slightly and I started to dab at it with the cotton ball.

He sucked in a sharp breath and clenched his teeth, but I tried to work quickly. 

I put away my materials and helped him lay down on his stomach because that’s the only way he can fall asleep. I carefully climbed behind him so he was in between my legs, his head resting only thought like a pillow. I gently played with his hair and rubbed his back.

“I love you Chrissy.” I whispered, thinking he was already asleep. But to my surprise, he mumbled back a soft,

“I love you more Y/N” and then he was fast asleep.

I am so late but I am finally done with the first round of merch that I am satisfied with. I am satisfied and we are rolling forward with this set. Now to send off all of my final sample orders so that I know these are absolutely working and are worth posting to a shop site as pre-orders.

Grogu Baby Crimes. Sticker & acrylic shaker charm. Completely revamped after carrying around the old version as an acrylic shaker charm and deciding it was too unwieldy and, more importantly, not cute enough. This will be a sticker option and an acrylic shaker charm option.

The Storm. Sticker (for now). I wanted to make more merch for my fics and might use this template for the other fics in the Dangerous Dreams series.

The Clan of Three. Sticker. This motherfucker held me up for MONTHS. I didn't like the previous full-body version especially after getting several sample stickers so I started over... and then got stuck. For months. But here we are. The final piece of the puzzle.

Limited - Tron. Sticker & acrylic charm. I wanted to make a little Tron merch. The acrylic charm will be double-sided with Tron on one side and Rinzler on the other. Thank god this guy is more or less symmetrical.

Limited - Rinzler. Sticker & acrylic charm. For people who like Rinzler. This will be double-sided with Rinzler on one side and Tron on the other side.

I'm sending off a final round of sample sticker and charm orders so that I can get a feel for the revamped and new designs, and once I'm happy I'll get the pop-up shop up and running.

Round 2, I'm looking at small prints, possibly the embroidered patch, and maybe a Tron|Rinzler standee. Also a sticker for The Suns maybe, possibly also The Stars. What if I did a WarGreymon|BlackWarGreymon charm?????

aww you’re so sweet, thank you 🫶 hmm i think there are most photos of him and matt, but that might just be because matt is more comfortable with photos/public appearances than nick or jamie! he’s definitely had some cute interactions with jamie when he’s been onstage with the monkeys. honestly i’m not sure who miles would be closest to (other than our fave little tambourine shaker ofc) but from the way the whole band talks to him and how they’ve collaborated over the years i’d guess he’s pretty close to all of them 🥹
