The sting of rubbing alcohol on his knuckles made him hiss through his teeth.

"Quit complaining I'm almost done." Sasha murmured from where he stood between Matthew's legs.

Matthew pouted from where he was perched atop the sink, letting Sasha gently dab at the scrapes and dried blood on his knuckles.

"You know you don't have to fight for me, Matthew. I can handle myself." He spoke after a moment. Sasha looked up at him with an eyebrow raised, soft brown eyes looking into his.

Matthew gave a snort, pulling his hand from Sasha's grasp.

"Of course I do Barky, you're my captain. I wasn't going to let that guy just manhandle without any consequence." His hands ached with the memory of bare knuckle meeting hard plastic. That night something wasn't clicking for Matthew and he was frustrated; they were losing by 4 goals and he'd done nothing to help the team. Watching that player shove Sasha around just seemed like an excuse to get rid of the itch under his skin.

The sting of the loss reminded him of the alcohol against his skin.

Sasha shook his head as he put away the rubbing alcohol and unused bandages. He knew Matthew would be stubborn about this. It was the usual song and dance they did.

"What am I going to do with you, hm?" Sasha spoke as he stood, putting a hand to Matthew's cheek and running his thumb across the delicate skin. "You can't always get into fights to avoid dealing with your problems, Matthew." He said with a smile before gently kissing his cheek.

Sasha pulled away, moving towards the door and into the bedroom.

"I know." Matthew whispered quietly to himself.

Matthew Tkachuk: I would think it'd be a lot of fun to go back in time and play with my dad. I think my brother and I would both want to play with him and throw him at centre. I don't know, that'd be a crazy line to play against so I think if I had to go back in time and play with one guy, it'd definitely be my dad. Wouldn't pass to him though.
