Building blocks of success: Why Math matters in primary education?
Mathematics is a crucial subject and plays a vital role in primary education. It provides a base of building blocks for the students and develops cognitive development. A building is essential if its base is also vital. That's what mathematics does with the primary student. Having the basics clear from introductory classes makes a student effective in a subject, and math is all based on practice.
Mathematics serves as the building block of success in education and beyond. This subject includes the critical role of math studies in the early stages of a student's academic journey. With the development of problem-solving and logical thinking skills, math has the blueprint for various cognitive abilities necessary for success in different fields. The subject is also the Foundation for other subjects in the science field, like physics, chemistry, and computer science. https://scoretry.com
The following are the reasons "why math matters in primary education":
Foundation for further learning
A strong foundation in math with primary education provides the blueprint for understanding advanced or challenging mathematical concepts in the next few years. Also, mathematics is essential as it is a foundation for physics, chemistry, and computer science. It enables students to continue with advanced studies and careers in many fields.
Develops critical thinking skills
Mathematics is a mental subject that helps develop many skills in a person. As a growing child, math develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It allows children to identify patterns and find solutions with problem-solving skills. These skills are also crucial for other subjects and real-life situations. It means mathematics is for more than just academics.
Develops a growth mindset
Mathematics regularly includes facing challenges and overcoming problems with logical solutions and problem-solving. Students develop a growth mindset where they understand that effort and learning from their mistakes lead to improvement. This mindset is valuable in math, all aspects of education, and life.
Daily Applications
Mathematics is not bound to just academics; it is also used in various everyday activities, from finance management to cooking to playing games and sports. Learning math in primary education helps children develop practical skills with real-life problem-solving skills essential for their daily lives.
Global competitiveness
In a globalized world, being good at math enhances a nation's competitiveness. Countries with solid mathematics education systems are better classified in economic development, technological development, and scientific innovations.
Purpose of mathematics
It gives us a way to understand patterns, to quantify relationships, and to predict the future. Math helps us understand the world, and we use the world to understand math. The world is interconnected. Everyday math shows these connections and possibilities.
This subject is also beneficial for its societal impact. A mathematically literate population has skills in logical thinking and problem-solving; this population can benefit economic growth and economic planning, as well as in the science field in space and invention fields.
As we mentioned earlier, mathematics is not just bound to mathematics itself but also a foundation for other fields. Mathematics helps students access other fields of study, and they can give their best to the fields of work because of their skills in mathematics.
However, this can only be achieved if the student is good at mathematics in their higher classes, and it can only be achieved if their basics in mathematics are crystal clear in their primary classes.
Conclusion
Mathematics is a fundamental element in primary education that goes with numerical calculations. It develops problem-solving skills. Critical thinking skills prepare students for future educational (academic) and professional and real-life challenges. Maths is a crucial building block for success in various aspects of life. The natural conclusion will be for the student when they achieve success!! Start your success journey today!! https://scoretry.com

when people complain about getting like, a 98% grade on something because it was "so close to perfect" its like. i understand what you're saying on a technical level. but that is a line of thought so far away from my experiences and ways of thinking that i do feel like im from another planet. 100% isnt even a real number to me
#i kinda understand when its something like a multiple choice test or something where there is an objective answer#it might feel like u got so close but just missed one#again still a bit alien to me because my scholarly performance is mysterious and anything over 70 is great to me#but i mean ive had a 98 before once in a math test. i did get exactly 1 bit of 1 question wrong#but i didnt really care that it was one off from perfect i was too busy being happy because that was the highest mark id ever received#and the previous math test i had taken got a 53% . grade 11 was a wild time for me in math class GHJKSHFKds#anyway i kinda see where ur coming from with stuff with right or wrong answers like that#but i sometimes get friends in class complain that they got a 95 or something on an art assignment#because they think they got docked 5 points for one or two little things#but i dunno. thats not really how fine arts departments in university tend to grade things#you dont start at 100 and get docked marks for things you got wrong. i dont think ive ever seen a 100% on something like that#tbh the numbers are a little arbitrary i find. i do prefer to try to get em higher because that helps with grants and stuff#but the numbers dont mean all that much in fine arts or in art history (my two majors) a 75 and a 95 can function the same depending on lik#weighting and context and feedback and whatever. i dunno its a wild world out there#it might just be the perspective of someone who did really goodbad in school. (GoodBad (tm) its when ur good but also kinda bad at school!)#compared to someone who got a lot of perfects in mandatory schooling. i sympathise i really do that kind of pressure sounds insane#but while i sympathize i cant really empathize as much unfortunately with this specifically orz its a world very far outside my purview!#100%s arent real to me so they never cross my mind to be worried about LOL

Tumblr media
you huffed quietly, eyebrows knitting together in frustration as you stared at your laptop. you were currently filling out questions for an end of the year quiz. and of course it had to be about math.
the question was in bold, and you felt like it was taunting you with the red little asterisk beside it. your bottom lip found its way between your teeth, and you continued to reread the question over and over until your head began to pound.
a whine left your lips as you threw your head back against the chair, hair cascading down the back of it as you shut your eyes. some would say this was the easiest question on the quiz, but to you it was probably the hardest thing imaginable.
billies eyes raised from her phone, shutting it off before tossing it to the side of your shared bed. scooting to the edge of the bed, she got up and walked towards you. her hands snaked around your neck, kissing the top of your head as she stared at your laptop.
"what's the matter, baby?" she hummed quietly, listening to your gentle breaths.
you relaxed in her hold, shoulders becoming less tense as she pet the top of your head gently, soothing your nerves as your eyes went back to your laptop, "this one question has me stuck. i dunno what answer to choose, it's multiple choice and i always somehow manage to struggle on—"
billie shut you up with a kiss, dragging your bottom lip with her teeth as she pulled away. you stared at her in awe, blush creeping onto your cheeks as you watched her smile.
"you're rambling again, ma. just take your time. our professor gave us a few more days to finish, so don't stress. tell me what the question is and i'll help you work it out, m'kay?" billie spoke softly, pressing another kiss to your temple as her eyes went back to the laptop in front of you.
you just nodded, eyes moving back to the screen as your lips parted, whispering the question to her. it was as if you spoke any louder everything would break, including billie.
a quiet chuckle was heard from behind you, but she quickly masked it with a cough. the blue-eyed girl smiled as she round the chair and kneeled beside you, "well, that's not too hard of a question."
another huff left your lips as you gave your girlfriend a blank expression, clearly annoyed as you crossed your arms, "it is! you just don't get it."
billie sighed, standing back up before ushering you to move out of the chair before sitting down in it. her hands grabbed your waist, pulling you to sit on her lap before you could complain, "what?"
she only shushed you, pulling you back against her chest as she looked over your shoulder. one of her hands made its way to your thigh, sneaking higher until you felt her cold fingers drag under the fabric of your shorts. you tensed at her motions, fighting the urge to squeeze your legs together.
that would only result in punishment, and that was somehow the only thing you really remembered, "baby, eyes on your test. wouldn't want you to fail, would we?"
"no.. m'sorry." you muttered, eyes snapping up to your laptop as you tried not to focus on her hand wandering below the waistband of your panties.
billie chuckled, her free hand softly caressing your knee as her breath tickled the skin of your shoulder, "it's okay, mamas. now, just focus on your test and i'll continue, hm?"
"think of this as... motivation, 'kay? if you get one right, i'll keep going. and, if you get one wrong... well, you know what that'll result in." she pressed a light kiss to your neck, and you shuddered.
you nodded, mind already hazy as your eyes struggled to stay open. you just wanted to be touched without any struggle, without billie having to stop or anything interrupting her. she always played this game with you, edging you until you couldn't take it anymore.
a shaky hand made its way to your mouse, dragging down the list of options before you clicked on one that you felt was right.
"correct!" the green letters popped out, and billie plunged two fingers into your wetness, sliding them in with ease.
billies gasp was exaggerated, making the sound loud and going right in your ear just to embarrass you, "you're so wet already. did i seriously get you going that quickly, mamas?"
blush crept onto your face again, making you look down into your lap at her hand. a moan tumbled from your mouth as you felt her flick your clit, making you jump from the suddenness.
"didn't tell you to stop, babygirl. keep going," she demanded, the hand that was on your knee coming to creep up your body and wrap around your neck. the coldness of her rings made you shutter, eyelids threatening to flutter shut as pleasure overcame you.
you moved your mouse again, this question making you type out your answer instead of choosing from multiple ones. a groan left your lips, and not just from annoyance, "answer it."
billie pushed, and you sighed as you read the question. it was another "hard" one, and billie only chuckled as she watched you tilt your head. she took this opportunity to curl her fingers, hearing your sharp intake of air.
her fingers put pressure on your throat, hearing another gasp from you as your hips bucked against her hand. billie began to suck on your neck, creating deep purple marks before moving on to another empty part of your skin.
your fingers shakily typed in your answer, still unsure as to whether it was right or not. as you typed enter, you watched as the screen changed and the page loaded slowly. your eyes fluttered shut as billie began to rub your clit in circles.
the page continued to load, and billie only sped up the pace of her fingers, your climax quickly approaching with the way her digits curled inside of you.
a choked moan escaped you, and billies eyes went back to the screen just in time to see those 3 words that you hated.
"oops! that's incorrect." billie quickly pulled out when she felt you clench around her fingers, smiling at the sound of your frustrated whine.
"aw, that's too bad," the girl taunted, tilting her head to watch as your face contorted into a look of frustration, "maybe you'll get the next one right, yeah?"
"mommy, please—fuck, mhh.. i'll try harder, 'js.. please lemme cum." you begged, falling back against her body as your head lie on her shoulder.
billie only grinned against the exposed skin of your neck, fingers brushing against your wet, swollen clit in a teasing manner, "c'mon, you're almost done. just 2 questions left, you can do it, i know you can."
she's been at this for about 30 minutes now, slipping her fingers out of your pussy even when you got a question right. she just loved hearing your whiny voice as you protested, begging her to fill you up again.
you only got a few questions wrong, surprisingly. billie was even surprised when you got a particularly easy question right, passing through it an instant. it was a contrast from your previous answers, getting the easier questions wrong.
"no.. i can't take it n'more, mommy.." you cried, tears beginning to run down your face. your eyeliner was ruined in the process, running down your cheeks and temporarily staining them.
billie raised an eyebrow, "no? well.. i guess i'll just leave you to do it by yourself, then. do you want me to let you—"
"no! no, please.. please don't stop. m'sorry, stay." you whimpered, sitting up straight again as you sniffled. bringing your hand up to your face, you wiped your tears.
the black-haired girl chuckled, kissing your shoulder softly as she watched you pay more attention to your test again, "good girl, keep going,"
the next question was multiple choice again, and you sobbed as your girlfriend curled her fingers perfectly into your g-spot, "right there? does that feel good, mamas?"
you nodded, too fucked-out to form any words, let alone a coherent sentence. your eyes fluttered open again, frustration taking over again as you struggled to find the answer.
billie took note of that, looking over your shoulder as she chuckled again. she could've gotten this one correct easily, and that knowledge just made you cry out in both humiliation and frustration.
"think about it," she muttered, leaving reassuring kisses on your marked-up neck, "don't quit now, you're already so close."
another cry left your lips, and you just chose the first answer that came to mind when you looked at the question again. it was correct, and you sighed as relief washed over you.
only one more, and the torture of being edged over and over again would be over, and billie would finally let you come. you knew she wouldn't stop until she completely ruined you, though, and you were totally fine with that.
"wow, baby, you're on a roll. c'mon, you think you can be a big girl and think a little harder for the last one?" the girl behind you muttered, smiling at the way you nodded obediently.
a whine left your lips, cheeks heating up further from the humiliation if that was even possible. she was treating you like a child, and part of you hated it. the other... well, the other half of your brain was going crazy.
the last question was also multiple choice, and this one even billie found challenging. she pressed another kiss to your neck, fingers beginning to pick up their pace as you approached your climax.
your clit was puffy and swollen from the endless teasing, and you thought harder for this question, just wanting to get it over with so that you could cum on your girlfriends fingers.
then, you clicked an answer. the page began to load, and you let your eyes shut as your head fell back against billies shoulder. you were confident in your answer this time, so you let yourself relax.
"oh, baby.." billie cooed, and you tensed up when you felt her fingers pulling out of your needy pussy, completely leaving your pants and moving up to your face.
you took her fingers in your mouth eagerly, savoring the moment since you knew this would be the last thing you would have in your favor. you got the question wrong, and you cried frustratingly as her fingers left your lips.
"this is fuckin' stupid." you grumbled, and billies hand went to tug your hair harshly, eliciting a pleasurable cry from your pink lips.
"don't be bratty now, baby. you wouldn't want me to punish you, hm?" you shook your head the best you could in her grip, a string of begs and cries escaping your throat.
76%, it showed in the middle of the screen. you passed by just a few questions, and billie smiled proudly, "you did it."
another relieved sigh left you, and you cried out when you felt billie standing up, wrapping her arms around your waist and carrying you to the bed.
lying you down softly, she smiled down at you, "my dumb little baby... i think you deserve a reward for using that brain of yours, don't you?"
you nodded furiously, unable to form another sentence. she had already ruined you, and she wasn't gonna stop until you were shaking, she wouldn't stop until she considered you ruined.

stiles comes to you after his female anatomy class and asks you to help. he says he’s never even watched torn so has never even seen a vagina, but yours is the first one he winds up seeing and eating out
༄  word count  —  2.3k
፨  characters  —  stiles stilinski
☓  tw  —  none
⊹  cw  —  smut & oral, losing of virginity
☼  a/n— i have... severely neglected this blog
✎  masterlist
you were sitting on your couch watching tv, a root beer flavored sucker between your lips. you were channel surfing, nothing catching your eye. your front door opened unannounced, making your head whip towards it.
after it closed, the familiar face of stiles poked around the corner.
you sighed, glad it wasn't an intruder.
"hey," you greeted. "ever heard of knocking?"
"sorry, it's raining and the door was unlocked. i figured you wouldn't mind."
he kicked his shoes off and walked over to sit next to you, mimicking your position by crossing his arms.
"what flavor is that?" he asked, looking at the stick in your mouth.
"root beer."
"nice."
"so what's up?"
"i was hoping you could help me study."
"as long as it's not math."
"honestly, i kinda wish it was."
"why? what is it?"
"so... it's for my health class. we're doing a human anatomy course for the sex ed unit."
"and you need my help... why?"
"well... it's female anatomy." you raised your eyebrows. "you're the only person i'm comfortable with asking for help on this."
you just looked at him for a second before taking in a deep breath and turning off the tv.
"alright, fine."
within a couple of minutes you were both upstairs on your bed. you sat against your headboard, him laying on his side horizontal across the bed with his assignment in front of him.
so far, it was just multiple choice and fill in the blank questions. he was reading them out, getting your answers.
"what do the ovaries do?" he asked, a diagram of the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes above the questions, with lines to label each.
"make hormones and contain eggs."
he skimmed the answers, finding the one that fit that description the best.
once he finished that chart, he flipped the page to see a very detailed diagram of a vagina, also with lines pointing to specific parts of it for him to label.
he looked at it for a moment, as if he was really studying it.
"vulva."
"i'm pretty sure that's just an all-inclusive word to include everything."
he circled the right answer
"what is the... clitoris? did i say that right?"
hearing stiles say the word 'clitoris' was a bit weird, but to be fair most people don't really say the full word.
"are you really asking me what the clit is?"
"yeah, what is it?"
you looked at him slightly in disbelief, chuckling a bit.
"come on, stiles."
"what?"
you were dumbfounded. everyone knows what the clit is.
"you've never even heard the word?"
"i've heard of it, i just don't know what it is."
"it's kind of obvious if you're looking at a vagina."
he shrugged. "never seen one. well, other than this drawing."
now this left you stunned. never seen a vagina? how was it possible for a teenage boy to never have seen one?
"you've watched porn, though."
he shook his head. "nope."
somehow he continued to shock you more with every sentence.
"never?"
"never."
"stiles, you're a teenage boy, and you're telling me you've never watched porn?"
"never needed to."
"the clitoris is... it's like a little bud above the vaginal opening. it's full of nerve endings and it's really only there for pleasure purposes."
"huh. interesting. can i ask you a question?"
"shoot."
"does every vagina look like this?"
"what do you mean?"
"like... are they all identical?"
"uh... no. every vagina is different. just like every penis is different. some of them are dangly, some are hairy, it just depends on the person."
"does yours look like this?"
your eyebrows dipped.
"did you really just ask me that?"
"i thought i was allowed to ask questions."
"yeah, general questions."
"that is a general question."
you sighed. "similar. but not really. i mean, they all have the same basic parts. but the anatomy is different sometimes."
he nodded. "wish i could see a real one up close."
it was kind of funny, how he was talking about vaginas like a specimen he could study.
"you will someday." he made eye contact with you and raised his eyebrows slightly. "stiles. you're not implying what i think you are, are you?"
"i mean... i'm not gonna say no."
"i'm not showing you my vagina!"
"that's not what i was asking, pervert," he said in an unconvincing tone.
to be completely honest, you weren't completely against the idea. the best way to learn was to see the real thing, not just a drawing.
you sighed. "fine." his eyes lit up a bit. "on one condition."
"mm?"
"no touching. only looking."
he nodded.
"sounds fair to me."
you could not believe you were fully exposing yourself to him right now, your vagina just out. your upper body was propped up on your pillows, your knees bent and thighs spread with his eyes glued to you.
"and no judging my lack of shaving."
he shrugged. "doesn't bother me."
he was looking at you like it was a book and he was reading every word.
"this is kinda weird, right?" you asked, trying to break the tension. and trying to distract him from the fact that his gaze was causing you to grow wetter and wetter with every second.
"a little bit, yeah."
"so... my vagina is the first one you've ever seen."
"yep. looks pretty similar to the drawing."
a few seconds of heavy silence went by.
"i mean... it's hard to learn when you're not... hands-on." you mentally slapped yourself for how cringey that sounded.
he froze, looking up into your eyes.
"what?"
"yeah, i mean... how are you supposed to learn what the clitoris is if you don't get to see what it does?"
"oh. i don't- i don't know."
"exactly."
"but you said no touching."
"i know what i said. maybe sometimes it's good to... break rules."
he slowly crawled closer to you and you spread your thighs wider. the cold air against your wetness could've given you chills.
"what... what do i do?" he asked, his face only a couple of inches away.
"see if you can find the words on your paper."
he looked over at it. "labia."
he lightly poked your wet lips — not the ones on your face.
"good."
"was that it?"
"mhm. good job."
"clitoris," he said without looking back at the paper.
"you remembered that one."
he looked around for a second before, without warning, placing the pad of his pointer finger onto your clit, making you take in a deep breath.
"that?"
"yep. right again."
"what do you... do with it?"
it was uncomfortable to explain, especially with a face in your vagina and a finger on your clit.
"uh... lots of things. really it's just different ways of touching it and touching it with different things. so, you could go in circles, back and forth, up and down. you can also use your tongue or some kind of toy. it's another thing that just depends on the person, everyone likes different things."
"what do you like?"
"circles, usually."
with a second of hesitation, he began slowly moving that finger in circles. you let out a breathy moan and closed your eyes, but he stopped.
"was that okay?"
you opened your eyes and looked down at him.
"that was good."
"so... what happens? is there like... an end goal here?"
"orgasm. it's how most women have to get there. sex, like penetration, usually isn't enough to get a lot of us there."
"really?"
"yeah. that's why it's important for our partners to do something other than just regular sex."
"so... do you usually prefer fingers or... a tongue?"
"well... me personally, i usually prefer a tongue. i feel like it's just more intimate."
"and what do you do with the tongue?"
"same thing you would with fingers. circles, back and forth, up and down-"
you were interrupted by a warm tongue on your clit, unable to hold in a gasp. he was going in circles like you said to do, and it was like he knew what to do immediately.
it felt good. you looked down at him to see him returning the gaze, a smirk creeping across his face.
"good, just like that, stiles."
you were doing your darndest to keep your hips still, ensuring he did everything right his first time. he placed his hands atop your thighs, making sure they stayed spread.
you reached up and pushed your hair out of your face, fisting a ball of your own hair. you were moaning, which he wasn't expecting to hear the first time he did this.
"you're doing good, stiles. that feels good."
he didn't answer, but his ego grew a few sizes at that. the closer you got to your orgasm, the more he had to hold you still. his arms were now wrapped around your thighs, his hands flat against your belly.
"fuck, okay, i can feel it coming," you said, looking down at him. "keep going, i'm gonna cum."
when you did look at him, it looked like he was experienced in this. his positioning, his hands, his pace, everything screamed 'i've done this a thousand times before'.
he liked this. being able to make you melt with just his tongue was making him hard, but he couldn't help it. your sweet voice moaning his name was like music to his ears, and the closer you got the louder you became.
your fingers tangled in his hair, trying not to pull too hard.
"don't stop, stiles. i'm almost there. i'll tell you when to stop."
he obeyed, not changing a single thing he was doing. if it hadn't have been so obvious, he might not have known you were cumming.
your back arched sharply, you took in a loud gasp, and your legs were trembling.
this was an incredible orgasm. you were perplexed by his skill, as ten minutes ago he had never even laid eyes on a vagina, much less eaten one out. but he was a quick learner, as you'd figured out from all the werewolf stuff.
"alright, stop, stop," you choked out. he immediately pulled away, using his shirt to wipe his mouth. you closed your legs and reveled in your high. your hand covered your eyes and you struggled to catch your breath.
"was that okay?" he asked innocently.
"are you kidding?" a moment later, you propped yourself up on your elbows. "how did you know how to do that?"
he shrugged. "i just did what you described."
"i've had more than one guy go down on me who was experienced and couldn't make me cum at all. that was, what, two minutes?"
"i guess i'm a natural," he joked.
you tilted your head to the side. "c'mere." you spread your legs again and his eyes widened, slowly following your directions. he held himself above you and you pulled him down to kiss you.
your hand trailed down his chest and landed on his belt, the clanking of the buckle making him pull away.
"what're you doing?" he whispered, looking at your half-closed eyes.
"well... i can see you're rock hard. i just figured, if you're losing your oral virginity, you might as well lose the regular one too."
he gulped hard, not moving.
"oh."
you stopped messing with his belt, furrowing your brow.
"unless you don't want to. you don't have to. don't feel like i'm pressuring you."
he shook his head.
"i don't. it's just... i didn't expect this. i wasn't planning on doing that when i came over, and i definitely didn't expect this. i didn't bring a condom or anything."
"i have some." you reached down and cupped his bulge in your hand, which made him falter a bit. "they might be a bit snug, but they'll fit."
he nodded, and you continued unbuckling his belt. when you got his pants shimmied down a bit and he was exposed to you, you noticed how red his cheeks were.
"what's wrong?"
"nothing. just... i don't want to disappoint you."
"stiles, it's your first time. i'm not expecting you to last past the first thrust." you can tell he took that as an insult. "i didn't mean it like that. no guy lasts past the first thrust during their first time. vaginas are different than hands or socks. i want you to feel comfortable with this. i promise i'm not judging you."
he nodded. "okay."
"if you don't want to have sex yet i could always just blow you instead. you might last longer that way."
"no, i want to do this."
"okay."
you reached over and grabbed a condom out of your nightstand drawer and opened it for him.
"want me to put it on for you?" you asked, to which you received a nod.
the feeling of your hand stroking down on him could've made him cum right then and there. but he wanted to wait until he was at least inside of you.
the feeling of his tip pressing into you was magical for both of you, and once he was fully nestled into you, he pressed a deep kiss onto your mouth.
he didn't move for a moment, wanting this to last as long as possible.
he was a nice size, not small by any means but not the biggest you'd had. he was perfect.
"you okay?" you whispered, pushing his hair off his forehead.
he nodded, the redness in his cheeks spreading to his chest. he slowly pulled out, and let out a loud, shaky moan with the next thrust. him laying his forehead against your chest let you know that he had cum, his arms trembling a bit.
when he looked at you again, he chuckled.
"what?" you asked.
"lasted past the first thrust." you both laughed at that, and you kissed him again. "next time it'll be better."
"next time?" he nodded. "when will that be?"
he thought for a second. "give me a couple of hours."

*screaming*
*continued screaming*
Okay. So. My introductory Visual C# class.
The professor for that class was Alice. Alice was the person who spoke in the introductory video and the person who we were supposed to email if we had any issues.
But all of the assignments, lectures, and quizzes were written and delivered by Bob. On the youtube channel "Bob's programming academy." The quizzes included Bob's name, like "if you do X will it return the string ProfessorBob, Professor, Bob, or Professor.Bob?"
This class was really frustrating for me because it was structured in such a way that you could easily pass the class with zero knowledge of the subject - it was totally based on quizzes that you could take an unlimited number of times and we *had* weekly programming assignments but they weren't graded so there was no incentive to do them (and look, if I wanted to teach myself programming with no incentives I could fail for several years to do that on my own, I don't need to pay fifty bucks a unit for that; the reason I am in a *class* and am not self-taught is because I need external motivation. That's why I sought out a class).
Also when there *was* a problem with an instruction that was unclear in one of the videos for the assignments, or if I thought I'd done something correctly that was very much incorrect, it wasn't Alice who had created the instructions, it was Bob - in 2017 no less - and I didn't really feel like I could ask Alice for help with an ungraded assignment that she hadn't written.
So. Now. My Python class.
Today is the first day of class. Professor is Charles.
I go to the mandatory attendance quiz and it is word-for-word the same mandatory attendance quiz as the C# class, down to the final question "what is your personal email address so I can keep in contact with you after the semester?"
I look at the syllabus.
Class grade is based on quizzes. We have assignments but none of them are graded. There's no textbook, just a series of videos from Professor Bob's Programming Academy.
So I'd been toying with staying at this school and trying to take more CS classes instead of going to another school, just to try to keep my records easier to manage, but since it seems like that *ENTIRE DEPARTMENT* is five Professor Bobs in a trenchcoat, I will probably be going somewhere else (and once again trying to force myself to do projects that I already know are *good for me to do* but *useless for the class and a massive time suck*)
I should drop this class. I should drop this class and apply for the other school so that I can start taking classes there in the spring because if I take this class and then go into the object oriented programming class in the spring and it's another professor bob sock puppet and I end up taking twelve units of programming classes where all I learn is how to google answers in a short time frame (something I already know how to do thanks) I am going to fucking lose it.
Also, again: I have a Bachelor's Degree. I spent five years at a community college when I was getting that degree. I took probably a dozen online classes starting in 2005 and going until 2011 in the process of getting that degree.
THIS bullshit, this "I'm your professor but actually I'm not and all the materials were created by someone else in the department or came directly from the textbook publisher and there is no writing and there are no assignments everything is multiple choice quizzes that are automatically graded" is *dogshit.*
This is NOT how online classes worked back in my day, not even online math classes, and as much as I know adjuncts are getting fucked over by academia in general, this isn't something that these professors should be getting paid as much as they are to do. Alice checked whether or not students turned in a hello world assignment and gave a pass/fail grades for three discussion boards that were responses to youtube videos. Nothing else in the class required her input. If this is the level of instruction that students are getting then the class is already automated and the students shouldn't have to pay for it.
This is crap. This is an incredible level of crap.

warnings. 18+ (mdni); sub!abby, domsub!abby, sexual themes, jealousy, fluff, nickname: dummy, and modern au - pre-established relation.
an: guys. this has been such a crazy ride, thanks for the support on both of my stories. it means so much to me. sorry for the wait... lets get it.
(no y/n)
Abby watched from the row behind you, observing how you chewed on the end of that neon #2 pencil. She could tell by the bobbing of your leg that you were nervous and stuck on a specific question. It was the same during studying — chew, bob, sigh. Almost on cue, a frustrated sigh left your throat. She knew it was her fault that this was happening.
She knew neither of you studied long enough for you to feel confident on this exam. Well, that’s what she kept trying to convince herself, she was already finishing up the last page. Although her pencil glided on the paper effortlessly, she couldn’t help but be distracted by your indecisiveness on the math equations and multiple-choice questions. The once full eraser had been subsided to pure metal scrapping into the pages.
The time on her watch read ten minutes left until the end of the exam and you were only on page two. Studying had become harder for you with Abby around. It wasn’t only the dating component it was mostly the difference in your skills. Her ability to memorize vocabulary and complete math problems without thinking twice about them made you academically insecure. While you averaged low B’s and high C’s, she had a 4.0 and made it look easy. The clock's ticking distracts you from the problem you are trying to solve. It was one you and Abby worked on multiple times, yet you’re frozen, unsure how to solve it. As everyone flicks their pages to finish, you just … froze.
“Okay. Pencils down.” Your professor said just moments after you started a new equation. Your jaw dropped slightly and you squeezed your eyes shut. Abby shook her head, not at you specifically, but herself. You had practically moved in and the nights that would typically be spent studying were now used to learn more about each other beyond your friendship. Realistically, Abby understood that those moments would be worth more than a grade in the long run. But a part of her also resented getting this comfortable, ultimately impacting you. The feelings clashed within her. The heat forming inside of you could only be described as embarrassment. Why was it like your brain suddenly lost all power to its systems? It wasn’t unusual for you to skip a few questions but this was completely unlike you.
You chew on your cuticles and fold the mostly blank pages and pass them down to the front, doing the same for your classmates. Their pages crumbled with computation answers and confidently filled bubbles exposed your shortcomings. You should feel relieved that the test is over but you don’t. A heavy anchor grounded you but you were still floating. Abby met you down in your row where you saw her concealing another A-plus smirk. Once you both exited into the hall Abby’s hand finds the center of your back and she begins to pet it slowly. You shrug her away gently.
“Don’t.” You sigh.
Abby knew it would set you off but she did it anyway to show you she sees you. The blonde’s brain was moving at a rapid pace. She so deeply wanted to ask you about the challenging problems and the scenarios on the quiz. Her translucent lashes tapped frantically as she imagined the sheet of paper behind her eyes.
“I feel good about this one.” She finally says.
“Good. I really did not do well. It’s — whatever. Right?”
Abby looks to you and she couldn’t lie and tell you that it’s not just whatever. It’s your future. Both of your futures — together — it was important to Abby that her partner was just as successful as her.
“You should be happy that you did your best but understand that if you did do as bad as you think, it’s worth asking for a makeup to understand the material.” She suggested.
You hated when she got like this, rigid. Her posture was straight, her mouth set hard, and no softness found anywhere on her face. The regime her father instilled in her stayed and it was evident in moments like this.
“Abby, sometimes I really need you to just listen to me and be rational later.”
A chill followed down her spine following your sharp comment.
“Maybe we shouldn’t study together anymore.” She muttered.
Part of you wanted that to be a joke but knew it wasn’t. The night before proved itself to be deeply uneventful for the both of you.
“You’re distracting me.” You groan as you’re reviewing flashcards on Abby’s bed, the first mistake. She was wearing a thin, white tank top and a pair of loose black sweats, untied, on her hips. Her hair was drying from the shower you two just took and so was her body. The outline of her features was accentuated by the water being absorbed by the cotton. She was so casually beautiful and simply yours. The bed shifted behind you, her weight bending the mattress inwards, as she crawled towards you.
“Am I?” She asks, using the tip of her tongue to playfully lick a stripe of slick up towards your lobe. An instant bubble of relief popped inside of you. “Okay. Okay.”
Abby couldn’t take her eyes away from you. She had seen you in this robe every night now but it was something about how it was gliding with you. As well as your skin's glint from your body oil makes you look regal. You sat at the base of the bed while Abby retreated towards the headboard, leg tucked under her butt. She took off three inches of hair and it looked so fresh, carving out her face perfectly, and highlighting her stiff jawline. “How about we make a deal?” She said brazenly.
“What?”
“For each answer I get right you remove something?”
“Abby,” you chuckle, not denying her advances.
You thumb the index cards in your hand and turn to tie your eyes with hers.
“First question, the section is Anatomy and Physio. What best describes endocrine glands?” You ask.
Abby taps her chin as if she’s searching for the answer. “They secrete chemicals into the blood, growth, metabolism, sexual development and function.”
She raises her eyebrows and shoots her eyes towards your robe. A deal is a deal so you remove the silk, leaving you in your two-piece pajama set. Abby notices the goosebumps lining the outsides of your shoulders and can’t help but desire to rub them warm.
“Question number two. Anaerobic respiration can lead to a burning sensation caused by which molecule?”
“Easy,” she scuffed. “Lactic Acid.”
Her teeth appeared behind her Cheshire grin as your top found its way onto her floor.
“Good job.”
Your words made her cunt pulse.
“The mediastinum is located within which cavity?” You ask.
Abby’s face fell instantly. The outline of your nipples looked delicious and icy, she needed them in her palms immediately. “Fuck. I don’t know.”
You lift yourself off the bed and bend right in front of her to retrieve your shirt, Abby’s shadow overcame you and her hips thrust into your ass in one motion. She spins you around to face her, mouths inches away. “Do you think you’re going to actually put that back on?”
Her index finger traced the outline of your lips with her eyes following. You grip her wrist, halting her movements, “And if I do?”
Abby gently places the index cards neatly on her bedside table and presses you into the wall behind you. Usually, Abby is submissive but the stalking woman imposed her strength on you, like she’s been wanting to do from the first time she saw you in clinicals.
“I’ll just rip it off you.” She giggles.
“Would that be so bad?” You reply, bringing her finger into your mouth, sucking it then adding another. Abby huffed a keen groan as she bent down onto her knees, immediately pressing her mouth into your cunt. She lapped at the fabric separating her from you and didn’t even ask for you to remove them.
You insisted by beginning to take them off but she tore them off you and hoisting up one leg onto her shoulder following the other one.
“Abby.” You gasp.
“I got you, hold onto me.”
She was flexing her skill by fine-tuning your pussy with her tongue while she slowly hoisted you up towards the ceiling. Not only did you feel as if you were floating, you actually were. She was a show off but you fucking loved it.
After that, there was no more studying done.
“Do you think we should cut down on the time we're spending together?” You question, as the night replays in your mind.
Abby’s face scrunched up in immediate disapproval without hesitation at the suggestion. She pulled her bottom lip slightly in her mouth and looked around as if the walls suddenly grew eyes. Abby wanted to tell you no but she knew what had to be done.
“We can.” She grimaced with a shrug.
Despite all the time you spent together the girlfriend conversation had yet to come up. She thought about it the most when you were in her presence. She didn’t comprehend how you liked her so much and yet, you refused to make it official. She truly believed that once you ditched Ellie she’d be over the moon, but right now it’s feeling the same and Abby doesn’t do stagnant.
“Abby, we can still study together, in the library, several feet away from each other.”
She forced a smile. “Fine. Does this mean you’ll still sleepover?”
Before your crush on Abby developed you were denying yourself the fact that it was possible. But during this time, before the dating, your grades had been the best when you were alone, and you know for a fact, that it was because of her. You may not be as smart as Abby but you do want to come out on the other end with a degree too.
“Why don’t we come up with a schedule?” She suggests.
“That would be perfect.” You said.
The schedule consisted of dinners at Abby’s during the week, sleepovers on non-clinical days which were Wednesdays and Fridays, and studying every day at the library. Abby liked the organization but her body had gotten so used to you beside her. A week into implementing the new schedule Abby felt an immense amount of anxiety without you around. She didn’t know how to break down the feeling and why it was so persistent. Although you two were next door to each other, text messages still provided a temporary cushion for her sadness, but it wasn’t enough.
Abby clicked the icon that was the home for your name and called but there was no answer. Dinner was stewing on the stove, and in the middle of mixing a cocktail, Abby called to find out if you could taste what was missing. Another call led to another one and soon Abby was sitting with a candle flickering silently in front of her. Your plate sat untouched and she just picked at the remnants of hers.
Little did she know you were closed off in your room after studying, panicking. You knew yourself more than you wanted to. The schedule was needed for you to clear your brain on the feelings you had for Abby. With upcoming exams and graduation where would that leave you? She'd move across the world while you were huddled up in your small town's hospital circulation? It was coming in so fast and before you could mix in a girlfriend you had to know what you wanted. The pages of your journal turned soft as you tore your pen through the book.
A part of you wanted to hear the rapping of her fist against your door, ready to envelop you and reassure you that you would figure it out. She never came and because of that, a piece of you died. Conversations with her have turned short and passive since the last exam. It wasn’t just the exam it was a culmination of multiple things that either of you were ready to talk about.
Abby put your dinner into a glass container and waited outside your door trying to gain the sense to knock. One of the many nights you spent together gave her a reason to knock instead of sulk in her bed, thinking about all of her shortcomings in the relationship. You were both lying down and Abby lit a candle that night that you bought her. The sweet scent of peaches and cream cut through the bitter smell of her pine products. She loved it. Between the sheets were your naked bodies damp and lazy. Abby had brought a glass of cold ice water and set it on the nightstand beside the candle. You took turns taking sips.
“Thank you for the water.” You smiled.
“Don’t mention it,” She nudged you.
You twist your body onto your stomach and look up to her glimmering, post-sex face.
“Abby?”
“Yes, beautiful?”
“You still make me nervous.”
She cackles and brings her hand to your cheek and massages away your imperfections. With the roll of her eyes she licks her lips before curating a snarky response. But she quickly realizes you’re being serious. “Why?”
“I care so much about you and that’s something I haven’t felt before. With anyone.”
A kind pause swells between you both.
“I care about you too. I don’t want that to make you nervous.” She said.
“I know you see me differently but I am a little insecure.”
She leans down and kisses your forehead tenderly without a breath.
“That’s normal.”
“But I burrow. I distance myself when I get like that and I don’t want to subject you to that. I don’t want to hurt your feelings again. If I do that, get distant, don’t hesitate to just tell me to get out of my own head. It’s not your fault or your responsibility.”
Abby’s fist banged on the door with your words echoing in her mind. The thuds startled you out of the sleepy daze you fell under. You shuffle to the door to see the goofy blonde in her pajamas and slippers holding what was supposed to be tonights shared dinner.
“You didn’t come to dinner,” Her voice was more welcoming than usual. “I was worried. Are you okay?”
Shoving her way past you and nearly tossed the container on the kitchen counter. Without hesitation she opened her arms and you couldn’t help but to run into them. Although she didn’t say anything the affirmation from her presence was enough.
“All too much in your head again aren’t you?”
A sob escaped into her chest and she gripped you tighter. These past few days have been a blunder of confusing thoughts. A part of you knew getting together with Abby would make things unclear in your life. But if she was willing to get uncomfortable and support you, you were obligated to do the same to her.
“Abby, I should’ve answered your calls.” You pull away to notice how unswayed she is of your state.
“You should have but that doesn’t matter right now. We need to talk.”
You nod your head shyly and she grips your hand and takes you to your bedroom. Abby pats beside herself to welcome you.
“I’m so scared.” You blurt out.
“Me too,”
Abby was scared for the complete opposite reason. When she was with you it seemed like all the decorative things such as school didn’t matter. She wasn’t familiar with how that felt. To have an identity outside of her accomplishments or care about someone. With you, she could flunk out of nursing school, move back to her home town, and still be satisfied. That scared her — that one person could allow her to have such a paradigm shift.
Hearing Abby say those words made your heart settle.
“I care so much about you. I didn’t think I would, this much. I should’ve known because on orientation when I saw you I thought, ‘I need to know who she is’ and I am grateful for that thought blossoming into my mind.”
You couldn’t muster any other word but her name. She picked up your hands to bring them into her lap. She leaned in to place a soft kiss on your mouth and lingered there with her forehead pressed against yours.
“When you moved next door, I just thought maybe this is the sign I need to do something different. To not let my ambitions lead me but instead my heart. And my heart loves you, Dummy.”

dumbification training. I wake up in a decently sized room, my feet chained to a chair with a computer in front of me. I'm sitting on a pair of vibrating dildos, one in each hole. A shock collar sits unoticingly comfortable around my neck, and a pair of headphones sit on my head.
The computer turns on. It seems to be on some sort of standardized testing program, the same ones you'd see students taking in a classroom during exam week. Questions headline the top of the screen, with the answers lined up in a multiple choice format. The instructions tell me to answer honestly and to the best I can. It doesn't say how many questions there are. The headphones play a soft buzzing noise and read out the questions.
First question pops up. It's a reading comprehension question. I skim over the paragraph, and I answer the question correctly, only to be met with brief electrocution. The screen moves automatically to the next question. Something about geometry, i to answer it correctly, but I'm shocked again when I do. Third question, something about English grammer. I'm shocked again. This keeps up for a few more questions.
By the 10th question, I can't take another shock, so I purposefully answer the question wrong, just to see what would happen. The screen flashes and in an instant, all my pain is gone. I feel a brief sense of relief and relaxation wash over me. The voice in the headphones praises me for answering 'correctly'
Next question appears on screen, and it's... harder? It's another reading comprehension question with a brief paragraph, but I'm struggling to read it. It's like the words are just flying past my brain. I get the question wrong, the voice praises me, I get hit with a wave of relief, and the dildos beneath me start to vibrate lowly.
The questions start to get simpler, going from high school level questions to kindergarten level questions. Every time I get one wrong, the vibrators get stronger I get blasted with a wave of pleasure. At some point I stop even reading them, I just answer at random to feel even more pleasure.
The questions start to get hornier, like asking me what a certain sex position is or how to perform a certain act. When I answer those correctly, I get edged. The screen 'asks' me to repeat mantras, and rewards me with pleasure when I do so.
It asks me, "does it feel good to be dumb?" "Does it feel good to obey?" and of course I answer yes. "Who thinks for you?" Master does. "What do you know?" Whatever Master tells me I know.
At the end of it, the screen turns into a flashing spiral. The voice tells me what a good job I did at learning how to be a dumb slut. The dildos thrust into me at the highest vibration speed, and when I get permission to cum, I have one of the greatest orgasms of my life.
After I cum, I've lost nearly all my ability to think for myself. I can't read anything above basic children's books, and can't do any math more advanced than basic addition. I cant remmeber how to write unless i'm told to write something.
But it's fine, I'm a dumb slut. I love being a dumb slut. All dumb sluts need to know is whatever their Master tells them to. Master thinks for me, and I'm so happy and grateful he does. Master is so smart, it's only right for him to think for me.

This really doesn't have to go on main but I'm putting it here for now:
So uh. Job hunting online for retail positions is definitely an experience. I saw a part time position listing for an office supply store and I think to myself, good! Not a restaurant! I can do office supplies! So I submit the resume/application and then get to the "great, thank you for that! Here are some multiple choice answer questions ranging from word association to number sequences to math problems!"
And I think to myself "great! I'm good with numbers and math and I should be okay associating basic words for this lovely RETAIL POSITION" and then I get the quick and easy practice questions. Wonderfully easy. I've got this. It's neverending and you just have a 10minute time limit to answer as many as possible! No problem!
Then I click "begin" and get slammed with the most ungodly whiplash with the first question being word association about "which of these four words is DIFFERENT" and the options were STRANGLE, PUSH, THROTTLE, and SUFFOCATE.
Hey, uh. Hey retail job. You uh. You okay there? I have some concerns and it was the first question.

SURVEY BREAKDOWN
(long post warning)
**A FEW DISCLAIMERS**
I AM NOT A SCIENTIST, I AM A HUMANITIES BITCH. My math skills are limited, and I have no training on processing/presenting this sort of data. I am also one person with a shitty laptop, an unreliable internet connection, and a very busy personal life. Take all of this with an extremely large grain of salt.
Participants are self-reporting. They may not know for sure, they may be wrong, they may be lying. I took everyone here at their word. I tried not to extrapolate much from what they were saying, because I do not want to misrepresent what they said.
I will be covering why people thought they developed this fetish in a later post because this is already too long.
Gender of Participants
Tumblr media
*According to a 2024 survey, 1.14% of American adults identify as transgender, while 1.52% do not identify as male, female, or trans (some of whom identified as Non-Binary.) That makes the presence of trans and non-binary participants VASTLY disproportional to the American average. I'm sure some of it can be explained by younger people being more likely to identify as not cis, and younger people using the internet far more than the older generations. I also read a paper once that suggested the internet was responsible for the development of more niche fetishes. It's also possible that trans people are more likely to be comfortable engaging with communities surrounding 'deviant' sexual interests because they've already been labeled 'abnormal' (BUT THESE ARE ALL JUST GUESSES). What I theorize is that, because pregnancy is inextricable from sex organs and gender rolls, trans people (ESPECIALLY AFAB trans/non-binary people) are more likely to have those early, strong emotional reactions to pregnancy that seem to develop into fetishes. I'll get into this more on my next post.
*cis women outnumbering cis men was not something I was expecting, but makes sense, since young girls often have to think about pregnancy much sooner than boys, and it threatens to have a much greater impact on their life.
*in retrospect, I wish I'd included a question on how the participants found the survey, since knowing might help explain the disparity between trans and cis people.
Sexuality of Participants
Tumblr media
*most (but not all) of the people who chose "other" wrote in an ace-spec identity not included in the above choices (ace lesbian, demi-sexual, etc.,)
Content of Fetish Material Consumed
Tumblr media
*the vast majority of participants selected multiple answers, the exception to this was straight cis men, who often only selected the 'Cis Female Pregnancy' option (a small percentage of this group also answered femboys). The minority of straight cis men who chose other options most often fantasized about becoming pregnant themselves.
When the Fetish was Developed
Tumblr media
*One person wrote in that they didn't believe children could have fetishes. Their entry was shortly followed by one from someone who described frequently masturbating to fantasies surrounding pregnancy at the age of 5. This isn't important to the overall data, I just find it funny.
How Great a Role does the Participants' Fetish Play in their Achieving Arousal?
Tumblr media
How Great a Role does Sex Play in the Participants' Fetish Related Fantasies?
Tumblr media
Did the Participants' Pregnancy Fetish Play a Role in their First Time Experiencing Arousal?
Tumblr media
*most of the "it's complicated" answers were people who couldn't remember their first time experiencing arousal.
...
That's the basics down, stay tuned for a breakdown of why people think they developed their fetish.
(will be linked when post is done).

RvB Survey Results Video - Favorite Character Intros
Hello everyone! I know @asphodeldreams will probably be making a post of his own about it since his blog is primarily where we're hosting all of the survey stuff, but I did want to make a particular post about this here since this has been pretty much all I have done for the past couple weeks.
This video is a compilation of all of the answers we received to the question of "Most memorable character introduction?", which we received roughly 259 answers for out of the 308 people who took the survey (full disclosure for transparency, asphodel and I also took the survey and added in our own answers. those numbers are included in the 259/308. answers where someone wrote in multiple intros were split apart and counted for each character submitted. if my math in the video doesn't add up please let me know, i did my best but math and I don't get along very well.)
If you have any questions about why I made a choice I made, or have any other questions / comments / concerns, then feel free to shoot me an ask or comment on this post! I plan on trying to make a few more videos like this for some of the other questions, but with grad school starting up next month my free time is gonna be a bit more spread around, so that will probably be a slow process. This is really more of a bonus, anyways - just something to help people visualize some of the results a bit better, doesn't actually impact when we upload new batches of results. It's also a great way for me to practice my video editing skills so I can feel justified in keeping that on my resume, lol. more detailed information about how i did the tallying / editing is under the read more (what the video refers to as “the description), but I hope y'all enjoy :)
Some characters are shown with just one clip, while others may have multiple. Reasons why some have multiple include, but are not limited to; - Being initially introduced in a mini-series, and providing a main series clip in addition - Re-introductions of the character at a later point - I couldn't find one good clip to use for the video - I really just wanted to use a second clip for that character, lol
So some characters have multiple clips, and some have longer clips because I could not find a good way to cohesively edit certain scenes.
If multiple people suggested the same scene for multiple characters, then for the most part those characters are generally all just lumped in with whoever had the most votes.
When I was initially trying to get it onto YouTube, I made a few editing changes - like putting music under some Season One clips. After giving up on YouTube, I removed all the visual effects I added, but left some of the music because otherwise the scene just sounded really quiet mixed in with everything else, and I had grown rather fond of some of the music spots. Also, I did my best to kind of equalize the audio mixing, but I definitely didn't get it perfect. Shouldn't be anything too surprisingly loud, though.
This took me Way longer to make than I would care to admit, and I had a nightmare of a time trying (and failing) to get it past YouTube Content ID, but it's finally up now and ready for all to see :)

i am a total genius and i'm totally gonna get a 100% on my ap statistics quiz tomorrow. like i'm literally the smartest person in the class and i always get the highest marks. i even got a 100% on all of the review. i'm so ready and so prepared, i don't even need to study. i can just walk into class and get 100% on the test because i'm that smart. and statistics comes so easy to me. i was born knowing all of the calculator functions and the difference between t-tests. the test tomorrow is actually going to be the easiest exam i have ever taken in my entire life. like it's just going to be so easy and i'm going to know the answer immediately after i look at the problem. especially the multiple choice. i am a boss at ap-style multiple choice questions. everyone in the class is probably jealous of me because my grade is the highest and they are barely passing. whatever, i can't help how perfect i am. math just comes really easy to me. i was blessed that way.

And now, from Mod Pan, this:
Tumblr media
First off, "Do you want to participate in a General/All Series Bang?"
Tumblr media
That's 62,7% yes, 37,3% maybe, and no "No"s! Love to see how people interested in talking about it want to participate, should circumstances allow.
Next is "If yes, what role?"
Tumblr media
At 40,3% writers take the lead, but 32,8% artists and 26,9% as a combo of both means people of all artistic tendencies are well-distributed!
So we've got the peeps, so when do we start? That's the next question!
Tumblr media
The two leaders were a (North) Summer Start at 67,2%, followed by a (North) Spring Start at 25%. The other results were one vote each, for 'either', 'both', 'anytime', 'not sure', and a shout-out to whoever asked if these seasons were North or Southern Hemisphere- They're all North, for the record, due to that being where the majority of the mods are located. It was a good heads-up, though, and I'll try to mention specific months next time alongside seasonal names.
Last two multiple-choice questions!
For writers, what minimum word count are you comfortable with?
Tumblr media
The clear winner here was 10k words, at 48,3%, with 15k next at 13,3%. A full 26% were just artists clicking the "I'm an Artist" button, and the other options (5k, 25k, and 'anything from 10-20k depending on concept") got a single vote each, except 20k words, which came in around 8% instead. I like this excitement!
And for the artists: What fic length are you most comfortable working with?
Tumblr media
Everyone continues having 10k as their sweet spot number, as the 36,7% votes show, and this has definitely been taken into account. Next is 15k at 25%, and every subsequent 5k increment loses another 5% votes. And to the two who don't really know and are just gonna go with the flow, and are willing to read all the way up to 50k as long as the concept interests you, we'll do our best at matchmaking so it won't feel like a sacrifice, no matter how excited the writers get!
And that's it for math time! The non-multiple choice answers won't be discussed here, since even without names attached those were private responses, but do be sure the mod team has read all of them and will be keeping all of them in mind going forward.
Tumblr media
See y'all next time!

The Boy That Sits Alone In The Front Row Always Wears A Black Sweater
The boy in the black sweater was not fond of living.
I didn’t like that conclusion.
However, it was better than to say that the boy in the black sweater wants to die.
I don’t think he wants to… or at least he wasn’t actively trying to.
I hope not.
He’s just not fond of living. Yeah. That’s the right way to say it, I think. Living was just not his thing.
And I understand that. I get that.
The first moment in my life where I had a thought, ‘Wow, life sucks!” was back in second grade. I was eight years old, sitting in class at school, staring at a piece of paper on top of my desk. It was a graded math test.
Written in bright red ink, was the number 47. A failing grade.
The worst part? I was the only one in that class of 30-something students who failed that test.
And it wasn’t as if I didn’t study. I studied my ass off for that test. I locked myself in my room and avoided playing outside with my friends just to practice multiplication. No one forced me to.
I spent hours working on practice sheets, completing every practice question in my textbook, running back and forth to my mom to see if I answered them correctly. That was all I did for three days straight, right before the test. Because I knew I was behind everyone else, and especially in math.
The day of the test, I couldn’t stay put. I was tapping my fingers on my desk, my knees shaking, and I might have been sweating. I could feel my own heartbeat as the teacher was handing out the test papers.
I read through every question and answered them as best as I could. Checking twice or more on each number just to make sure I did it right.
Even then, I knew I would get some of them wrong. I was not confident. I knew that I definitely wouldn’t get a high score that would be worthy of praise.
But I didn’t even pass. What the hell was all that hard work for?
I really did try my best.
My ‘best’ amounted to 47.
Staring at that number, a rising surge of anger welled up inside me. It was out of unfairness, out of waste, out of shame.
I had the urge to crumple up that paper. Pick it up, rip it apart. Chucking it across the classroom. I felt like that paper had to be destroyed somehow.
Both of my fisted hands stayed on the desk. The only damage caused to that paper was small wet spots that appeared one after another near the bottom where the numbers ended.
‘... Life sucks.’
I lost motivation for a lot of things ever since that day. More bad things kept happening, too, and a lot more often at that. I guessed it was a part of growing up.
When I realized that, I didn’t want to grow up. I didn’t want to work hard or have expectations only to get disappointed. I didn’t want to know about the world and find out about all the ugly truths. I wanted to be ignorant.
But you can’t go back, and you can’t stop growing up. There was no choice but to grow up.
The only way to stop growing up was to die.
Of course, that wasn’t an option. I never wanted to die. Why would anyone want that? Sure, life sucks and the world sucks, and the more you know about it, the worse it gets. But I could never imagine myself even thinking to give it all up and stop everything.
Is it even worth it to die? There’s too many things to simply miss out on. How that one show will end, the amount of food I haven’t tried, the clothes I want to wear, things I want to do with my friends, so many places I want to visit one day, and a lot of stuff to do.
Is he not the least bit curious about any of those things?
He likes games. Is he not excited about the games he had yet to play and more to come?
What happened in his life that made him this way?
I’ve heard stories on the internet and from other people about traumas and incidents that affected their personal life. So much that it made them tired of living.
Sometimes, those stories were unbelievable. How could such bad things happen? Yet, it happened. And some survived that, some don’t. Even then, the ones who survived might not be able to live the same way ever again.
I always feel some sort of relief whenever I hear those stories.
At least it didn’t happen to me.
My life could’ve been worse.
Not really the best perspective to keep moving on, but it helped.
Nothing terrible ever happened to me in my life, so I couldn’t say that I understood what they were going through. I wouldn’t dare to judge how they view ‘living’.
If I ever come across any of these people, I know that I wouldn’t be able to change their mind by pretending to understand or talk my way through.
All I would be able to do, was to show that there was still more to ‘living’. And if it could make them feel better, I would show them how pathetic I am in my studies.
I wanted to show them, ‘hey, there’s someone worse than you at this!’ and maybe give them a sense of relief?
And I thought,
I really thought,
…that I planted some kind of pride in him by showing my stupidity. A little competitiveness maybe? A feeling of relief or a growing ego whenever he mocked me for being dumb.
But the more I spent time with him, the more I realized that he didn’t care.
He never got irritated when I caught things too slow, or when it took me hours to understand a simple concept. He never seemed amused at the fact that he was better than me at something.
It was the same thing I realized what he felt about playing games with me.
Nothing changed in that part.
Only that he was more open about it.
The dark jokes.
The nonchalant comments.
Was it a cry for help? Was it a hint to push me away? What should I do?
It reached the point where I was starting to get annoyed.
Everyone can have bad days. If someone was being insensitive, I try to tell myself that they were probably going through something. I would imagine that they probably just lost their job, or maybe they burned down their house or something.
It didn’t excuse their behavior, but it helped me to bear it.
And yet, sometimes I wonder if a person behaves that way all the time, do they not think of other people?
Not that I was expecting some kind of benefit for cleaning his house or feeding him, but was it that hard just to pretend to care at all?
I know he didn’t ask for my help. He didn’t ask for me to care.
But now, I feel as if he’s making all those jokes on purpose.
The night before one of our final exams, I came over as I usually do. I ordered take out for dinner so that I didn’t spend extra time cooking. We had to cram almost everything we learned for the past semester.
So, we decided to pull an all-nighter.
I stocked his fridge with energy drinks and coffee. And almost every hour, he would take one out. Even though I specifically mentioned that it was supposed to last for the rest of the week.
When he took the second drink, I reminded him of that.
When he took the third, I asked how many were left, and joked by telling him not to finish our supplies. It was a subtle hint to let him know he shouldn’t take it anymore.
When he took the fourth, I was worried, but I stayed quiet.
When he took the fifth, I calmly told him to stop, but he ignored it.
More than an hour passed.
I glanced over at the empty cans of energy drink on the table. And I looked at him with his eyes fixed on the laptop. The dim bluish glow of the screen was reflected on his pale face.
The time on the corner of my screen read 2:45 AM.
My focus was off, I was practically distracted. He might have been the one who drank 5 energy drinks, but I was the one feeling anxious all over.
‘Alright, focus. Focus.’
I haven’t gone forward from the paragraph I have been reading the past few minutes. I read them clearly, but it didn’t stick in my head.
I shook my head and read it over again.
And then I heard shuffling sounds from the sofa.
When I turned, he had gone up to approach the fridge. The bright light entered the room as he opened it.
Clink, clink.
I could hear the sound of the energy drinks bumping as he was trying to choose one.
I called out to him.
“Hey, come on, don’t take anymore! I don’t want to buy more for the next few days! You’ve even taken my share!”
He turned around after closing the fridge. A can in his hand. As he maintained eye contact with me, he opened it.
Click!
I swear he’s doing this on purpose.
I sighed loudly.
“Whatever. But you should really stop. Even just one can of that contains a high amount of sugar. Drinking too much is not good for your health, it’ll affect you when you get older.”
He just shrugged and placed the can to his mouth. I silently moved my gaze back to the laptop.
And came his reply.
“Don’t worry about that. I don’t plan to live long anyway.”
What was that thing again about people having certain limits when it comes to their patience?
I could feel it snap quietly inside me.
Perhaps because I was actually worried and genuinely tried to advise him, but he dismissed it with that joke. If he had joked about it at another time, I wouldn’t have been so bothered.
“What is wrong with you?”
I turned to look at him.
That question came out a bit colder than I intended. I could see his eyes widen a bit as he was sipping from the can.
I quickly changed my tone.
“No, what was that supposed to mean? Quit joking like that.”
I observed him carefully.
I thought he might feel annoyed and reply with something like, ‘why do you care?’ and roll his eyes.
He just slowly put his can away. His expressions were calm and empty.
“I thought you knew about this.”
“Huh?”
“You can stop now.”
“Stop what?”
And I wished the world stopped for a second.
He was leaning against the counter with the can of energy drink in his hand. The room was dark because we were too focused to remember to turn on the lights.
For that one second, I saw something else other than emptiness in his eyes.
I really wished for that one second to last longer. Because I wasn’t ready for his next words.
“You know, coming over. Cleaning my place. Cooking. I appreciate it, but it’s not going to change anything. I think you know that, too.”
“...”
He knew that I knew.
Was he bothered by that? Did he think that I wouldn’t do any of that if I didn’t know? Did he think me asking him for help was an excuse?
If he did, it wouldn’t be entirely wrong, but I didn’t want it to be that way.
I wanted… to get to know him as well.
“Why are you like this?”
What happened to you? When did you start needing to wear long sleeves all the time? Why do you stay in the dark?
He didn’t go back to the sofa. Just kept standing there, with an awkward distance between us.
He answered so naturally.
“I don’t know. There’s no reason. Everything is pointless, that’s all. There’s no worth in anything.”
“You really believe that? You really think that way? You- you’re smart! You have a lot of money! You’re good at games! None of that is worth anything? Were the games not fun? Do you not enjoy eating new food? Go to new places?”
I was slowly getting more and more frustrated.
None of my words struck him. As if he had been asked those questions before. What are the odds that he asked them himself?
He just listened until I was done.
“I want to ask you,” He said. “Why did you do any of this in the first place? Why clean my place, get me food, force me to go out? What is it worth to you?”
I blinked.
This might be a chance? Should I say something that could inspire him? Find something worth going for?
…What is it worth for me?
I couldn’t think of anything.
My head hung down for a few seconds. I couldn’t come up with a decent answer. I was never great at persuading. I mean, what am I supposed to say here? Any answer would be obvious and might seem manipulative.
I ended up being honest.
At that moment when he reached out to hand over my charger, and I saw the scars on his wrist, I didn’t immediately think I had to do something. It took me a while to process what I saw.
It was none of my business. Why should I care about another person’s life? One that I didn’t know personally.
If it were one of my closest friends, it would’ve been different.
Yet, anyone with a conscience wouldn’t be able to ignore it. Of course, it was hard to approach someone you didn’t know, but there was this guilt because you were aware of their situation.
Knowing was a burden.
In class, even if I tried to ignore it, my eyes would go to him every once in a while. Especially since he always sits in the front row.
And to see the black sweater covering all the way up to the wrist.
There was no way I could not think of it.
So, I tried to convince myself that it wasn’t my fault. That I didn’t have to be responsible for it. I didn’t even know him.
Someone else will take care of it. Someone who knew him better.
Worst comes to worst, I had no attachment to this person.
But, the worst that could happen in this scenario was…
I pictured it.
If there was some kind of announcement from our campus regarding one of the students.
And even if it wasn’t someone I knew personally,
If I recognized the name,
If I realized what I knew of that person,
If I figured that I could have done something…
It was more than just leaving a bad taste. I would have a different kind of guilt and had to live with it.
So, I thought I’d give it a try. Talk to him.
In a way, I did it for myself. For me. At that time, I wasn’t afraid of what would happen to him. I was more afraid of how I would feel if anything happened to him.
And after getting to know him, new uncomfortable feelings arised. Trash in his apartment, how he only eats ramen cups, not drinking water. It bothered me.
Now that I knew of his living conditions, I couldn’t just not do anything.
Because It would be on me. I found him that way, so it would have been my fault to let him keep living that way.
So, what was it all worth? I guess, in the end, it was to not blame myself. To get rid of any potential guilt.
As I told him my answer, he didn’t take a single sip from the opened can. He properly listened to every word I said without reflecting any emotions on his face.
I didn’t know if I said the right thing or the wrong thing. I didn’t know how he felt.
Once I was done, he simply nodded.
“Then, I’m asking you to stop,” he said.
He stared straight into my eyes.
“It’s not your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong. And since I’m the one asking you this, you shouldn’t feel any guilt.”
I wanted to say something, but no words were forming in my head.
I could only feel my teeth clenching.
“Stop coming over. And stop texting me, too. It’s not going to change anything. There’s nothing you can do about this.”
Why? How are you so sure?
What if something happens? How am I supposed to continue on when I already know you?
The light from my laptop screen has gone off. The room would have been dark if it weren’t for the slight glow from the window.
It might have been the moon or the streetlights.
“So, don’t blame yourself.”
He took the can of energy drink that he put aside and drank it all.
And when he placed it on the counter again, a crisp sound of the can against the counter could be heard. Signalling that it was now empty.
Walking away, he spoke one last time.
“You can go home or spend the night. You can have the sofa.”
He threw himself on the bed. A few seconds later, I heard the faint sound of his game music.
I sat there without moving for a while.
I wasn’t sure what I should be thinking. Or how I should feel. How I should act.
Even worse when I remembered that we had finals tomorrow. If I keep thinking about all this heavy stuff, it’ll replace everything I studied in my head and leave me blank.
Argh, this won’t do.
I packed up all of my things and left his apartment without a word.
