And so, we come to the last of my Mastery Journals for Full Sail University's Masters in New Media Journalism program in which I prepare my final entry and say goodbye to all of my colleagues, professors, and advisors who made my time at Full Sail one I would never forget. As I type in this last entry, I want to take this time to reflect upon the mastery timeline I first created nearly twelve months ago.
My mastery timeline is as follows:
-Step 1: I will apply for several content writing jobs.
-Step 2: I will gain the experience needed to write articles.
-Step 3: I will find the perfect platform to create my blog with.
-Step 4: I will find a topic that best suits my interest.
-Step 5: I will write and edit my first article for publication.
-Step 6: I will promote my blog on social media.
So far, I have completed the majority of the steps of the process, however, step one of the plan has proven to be more difficult than the rest. That step is to apply to several content writing jobs. Unfortunately, the majority of the jobs I applied to have met with rejection after rejection after rejection. However, I am not the one to be discouraged by these rejections as they only help me to grow stronger and look for more opportunities in that same field. As I continue to look and apply for jobs, eventually, the right one will come to me.
If these rejections had taught me anything, it's to not give up and keep seeking more and more opportunities and jump at chances the second they appear. So far, the process has been difficult, but I know that with the lessons I have learned in my time with Full Sail, my craft will shape into something incredible that will have the job marketers just begging to hire me.

At the outset of the New Media Journalism Final Project course, my initial expectation was to finalize our Capstone Project, and indeed, that's what transpired. Over the course of four weeks, we delved into each section of our final thesis paper, centered around my Capstone Project focusing on five ways parents and educators can support middle and high school students through mental health challenges.
During the first week, we crafted an introduction to our thesis and conducted a literature review. Feedback from both peers and instructors prompted revisions in the second week, primarily urging me to enhance the detail in my introduction and ensure punctuation accuracy. Surprisingly, amidst this process, I realized that working on this final thesis paper was significantly improving my writing skills.
Week three tasked us with developing the discussion and conclusion sections of our paper, along with acknowledgments. I encountered difficulties in summarizing my project succinctly, as articulating its significance proved challenging. Additionally, I struggled with organizing the chronological process of assembling my project and crafting a strong conclusion, as I've historically found concluding narratives to be a writing weakness.
The final week was dedicated to revising and compiling the entire thesis paper. In reflection, the four-week journey not only culminated in the completion of my Capstone Project but also notably enhanced my writing abilities. Overall, this experience served as a fitting conclusion to my master's degree in the New Media Journalism Program at Full Sail University, earning a perfect rating in my estimation.

Mastery Journal post for RIS Development
Hi everyone. My name is Malori Frey. I’m currently enrolled at Full Sail University for my Master of Arts - New Media Journalism. This month I participated in a course called Research and Investigation Skills Development. At the beginning of my degree program, I had to make predictions of what I thought each class was going to teach me.
My prediction:
This course is designed to teach me the proper techniques in researching within the mass medias and identifying creditable sources.
This prediction was spot on. I did learn how to research and find multiple of creditable sources to use for my website, Mindful Life Journey.
Mindful Life Journey is focused on Mental Health and Personal Growth. In this course, I really wanted to focus on the main factors that affect the mentality of individuals, such as: education, employment/ money, and general health. I was able to create two articles for this site.
Knowing Your HIPPA Rights
Putting a Stop to Stigma Associated with Mental Health (will add the link after posting it)
My three biggest goals for this class were:
Advance my researching skills.
Work on my objective writing skills.
Find topics that correspond with the overall beat of my website.
Here are some of the sources I have found through research for this class:
Supporting Strong Mental Health: Interviews with Mental Health Experts During COVID-19 Pandemic
In this article by Health Partners
State of Mental Health in America
National Library of Medicine
American Psychiatric Association
National Alliance on Mental Illness
This course has, also, prepared me for objective writing assignments in future media jobs by showing me new techniques to use when researching. Some of the links that were shown to me in class are:
Why Interview?
Researching Data
Infographics
I will apply these things in my day-to-day work as a journalist and blogger.
Thank you for reading!

REPUTATION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES- Month 10
As I am getting close to the end, anxiety has gotten strong. My motivation has lessened, but I see my eye on the prize. I have said it from the beginning, these courses are nothing like what I expected when I started the program.
When I started my goals and expectations looked so different. Here I am, learning something new.
At the beginning:
• Goal: Do not lose who I am and don’t damage my reputation. • Strategy: Remember that our reputation is all that we have so we do not want it to be trashed (Doorley, & Garcia, 2015).
• Goal: Be able to stay positive even in the most difficult situations.
•Strategy: Being negative leads to losing clients and much more (Sickler, 2019).
• Goal: Learn to stay strong and stay away from negativity. • Strategy: Others see how you behave, and it influences their thoughts on you. It is your responsibility to show management skills (Kim & Park, 2009).
After Month 10:
Each month, my goal is to succeed but also take away something from the course and sometimes that something is small. I have never even thought about a crisis manual, crisis communication, or crisis anything except that problems will arise and when it does a plan needs to be in place.
I have achieved knowledge of a correct way to deal with a crisis. My first instinct would be to deal with it with emotions. Now I have a better understanding of why emotions do not belong in a crisis plan. I also have better concepts to use when dealing with a crisis and why it is important to know ahead of time what employees are responsible for what. When a crisis happens that is not the time to come up with a plan.

Upon starting this course, I expected to learn how to report different stories using multimedia, which is what I believe we did throughout this course. The assignment that I enjoyed the most was writing about my first lady Ramona Trice and her story is one that I wanted to share, because of how sacred it is as a first lady of a church, I also enjoyed covering the October fest that happens in my childhood neighborhood. The thing I would have done better was work more on lighting in the first story I did the lighting, and the sound wasn’t that good. Coming into this course I was focused on being a better author and writer, but I started to feel like a real journalist.
