Mastermind!Leon BUT Mikan falls for him (the way she fell for Junko). He turns up the charm by a fuckton, and she genuinely believed that he loved her. (He might've convinced himself that he did too.)
oh. ow.
Leon was a master manipulator, including with girls. He had everything planned for his killing game, including an inside in the class that would be above his- Mikan.
Maybe part of it was the head games, but Mikan truly believed that she loved Leon. He wasn’t like the other people in her life; she was blind to his obvious red flags.
Mikan had her uses to him. She was a resource, and that was all. That she would do anything for him didn’t hurt. He even found it more normal that she would text him all the time, asking what she could do or when she could see him.
Maybe part of him thought that he loved her, too, and that was how he kept her strung along. Either way, he had to recognize that at the end of the day, she was a liability. Just a temporary resource.
Mikan’s classmates only knew that she was talking to someone in the year below them who would be at Hope’s Peak when they were second years. They had no idea how deep she had gotten herself…

Tell me everything about your au and PLEASE write a fic about it
How does the first game play out, in terms of killing order?
Tumblr media
@shslquestionmark
Let's start from the beginning:
It gets very long, so the plot is below the cut.
Also, I'd appreciate fic ideas!
(Word Count: 3150)
------------------------------------
Prologue: Say Goodbye to Peace!
------------------------------------
We start with our protagonist waking up in an empty classroom barred by steel plates.
He establishes himself as Hajime Hinata, someone who failed to get into the Ultimate course at Hope's Peak Academy, even failing the annual "Lucky Student" lottery.
So it was rather bizarre that the acceptance letter in front of him claimed that he is apparently the "Ultimate Lucky Student".
Eventually, he met up with his fifteen other classmates.
Once the introductions have come to a close, out comes the host of the game: the cuddly and diabolical Monokuma himself!
You've probably heard this same song and dance a million times before, so I will not bore you with the rules.
------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Just to Survive
------------------------------------
With everyone still shaken up by the announcement of the killing game, everyone split up to investigate the rest of the school. Amongst them, Kiyotaka Ishimaru volunteered to investigate the school with Hajime, where their awkward attempts at conversation eventually divulged a bit into the dichotomy between "natural talent" vs. "natural geniuses".
With no murders happening for the next couple of days, Monokuma offered the students their first motive towards murder: hostage videos of their loved ones. Hajime was rightfully shaken up and anxious over his personal motive, showcasing his parents getting assaulted and his house getting ransacked by a large group of masked individuals.
With the motive now in order, Taka decided to establish some new ground rules to prevent any murder from happening, including a curfew rule and a prompt disposal of any sharp items from the rooms of the students. This got mixed reception from the students, ranging from relief to anger to scoffing at his naivety.
In spite of his safety measures, a murder ended up happening.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru, the Ultimate Moral Compass, was found in the hallways of the dorms, with a massive bloody wound on the back of his head.
With everybody's alibis being brought into suspicion, due to the murder happening so late into the night, the students had a hard time fingering the proper culprit. But with the assistance of the intelligent yet aloof Kyoko Kirigiri, Hajime managed to figure out who the culprit is, upon realizing where those glass shards imbedded in the back of Taka's head came from: a crystal ball.
While Taka was counting on his ground rules preventing a murder, he didn't account for blunt objects still being used as murder weapons. So, while Taka was keeping watch on each of the dorm rooms, one of the students snuck behind him and tossed their crystal ball at the back of the moral compass's head, using their overcoat like a smock to prevent any blood from getting on their clothes and body. From there, all the culprit had to do was hide their bloody overcoat and the shards of their crystal ball back in his room, and pretend that nothing ever happened.
From there, the culprit is quite obvious: Yasuhiro Hagakure, the Ultimate Clairvoyant.
Once he was found out as the culprit, the foolish clairvoyant broke down, revealing that he was really concerned about his mother, who was the only family member that he had left. He had to kill to make sure that she was okay.
But all of the sympathetic reasoning in the world isn't going to stop Monokuma from dragging the man kicking and screaming to his execution. In his execution, Hiro gets trapped in a giant crystal ball and helmed by Monokuma dressed as an animatronic fortune-telling machine. Once a coin was inserted, the clairvoyant started floating around, as Monokuma read a bunch of despairing futures. As more coins are inserted at once, Monokuma starts going haywire. The similarly-haywire gravity mechanism slammed Hiro repeatedly against the walls of the crystal ball. Eventually, the machine broke down, and all that remains of the Ultimate Clairvoyant is a bloody smear.
It was only now that reality of the game began to sink in for the Ultimates.
------------------------------------
Chapter 2: The War of Rotten People
------------------------------------
After the events of the first murder and trial, Monokuma both opened up a new floor and introduced a new motive secret for the remaining 14 students: their deepest and darkest secrets being shared with another student.
Although the threat of murder continues, some friendships are started to sprout; primarily those between Chihiro, Mondo, Aoi, and Sakura. Since Aoi ended up receiving Chihiro's secret regarding his gender, she started to incorporate the programmer into her friend group with Sakura. Mondo later joined them, wishing to properly release his pent-up stress from both his past and present.
But this cheer didn't last for long, for the next body was found in the library.
The corpse of Hifumi Yamada, the Ultimate Fanfiction Creator, was found slumped against the bookshelves, with his throat slit.
During the trial, plenty of confusion came from the fact that there were several unclaimed secrets and uncooperative parties. Byakuya Togami and Celestia Ludenberg, in particular, seem to derive a sense of enjoyment in hiding the secrets they've received.
But as more secrets ended up getting exposed in the trial, and the true culprit got cornered in the process (particularly the fact that Hifumi's throat was slit with scissors), the devious duo unveiled the murderer's secret: that being the existence of the culprit's murderous alter.
And that culprit is Toko Fukawa, the Ultimate Writing Prodigy, and her alter, Genocide Jack, the Ultimate Murderous Fiend.
As it turns out, Hifumi ended up receiving Toko's secret, and antagonized his rival-in-writing with it. This resulted in his murder, which both Byakuya and Celestia witnessed. They worked together to alter the crime scene as a "test" of sorts for the remaining students that would ultimately implicate the true culprit. This resulted in outrage from the other students, but especially the betrayed Toko.
Just like with Hiro before her, Toko was dragged to her customized execution. In it, Toko was forced to write an incredibly long manuscript for her book. But instead of ink, she had to use her own blood. When the writer was almost completely exsanguinated, the sheer amount of blood caused her to pass out, allowing her to switch to Genocide Jack. What appeared to be a shadow of Byakuya appeared in front of her, causing her to get out of her seat and leap towards her. A blade emerged from "Byakuya" splitting her down from the middle, finally killing the girl.
------------------------------------
Chapter 3: New Threats Emerge From the Shadows! Keep Low, Soldier!
------------------------------------
With yet another floor unlocked, Monokuma introduced yet another motive: the promise of ten million dollars to whoever gets away with murder.
Having spent a peculiar amount of time in his room, Chihiro finally emerges with a brand-new invention: an AI program known as "Alter Ego". With the villainous natures of both Byakuya and Celestia now open to the public, Hajime and Mondo forbids either of the duo for even touching the program without being watched.
Luckily, Alter Ego remained practically untouched, and the devious duo seemed to be oddly quiet and well-behaved (by their standards anyways).
But that tranquility came to a close, when the cast found, not one, but two new bodies.
Leon Kuwata, the Ultimate Baseball Star, was found stuffed into the art storage, with several stab wounds in his front.
The mangled body of Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Fashionista, was found at the bottom of the stairs to Floor 2.
Upon seeing the dead body of her beloved sister, Mukuro was enraged, determined to make the culprit pay.
During the trial, a debate erupted on whether Leon's killer and Junko's killer are the same person, but they eventually deduced that these two cases are unrelated to each other.
On one side of the equation, Leon was lured into the art room by the culprit, and they managed to overpower the athlete, thanks to the athlete's feelings for them. They brought both a golden sword and a simple kitchen knife, hoping to frame the wounds caused by the former on the latter. However, the gold dust on Leon's body was a dead giveaway. Combined with the faulty alibi caused by the culprit needing to wash their hands of the gold dust, they were eventually exposed.
And who is the person who killed Leon? It turned out to be Sayaka Maizono, the Ultimate Pop Sensation.
As it turned out, Sayaka fell for the motive, wishing to provide money to save her destitute living situation. She had to push any sense of attachment towards the others to the side, for she would do anything to advance her career as an idol. That did not stop her from breaking her normally-detached facade, once she was successfully implicated.
On the other side, Junko was "playfully" antagonizing her killer, even making some "mock" threats towards their passion project. Eventually, the culprit had enough and ended up accidentally shoving her down the stairs, breaking her bones and eventually her neck on the way down. Overcome by guilt, the culprit confessed almost immediately, much to the denial of their closest friends and to the fury of Mukuro.
And Junko's accidental murderer was, surprisingly, Chihiro Fujisaki, the Ultimate Programmer.
Having learned that Sayaka's murder of Leon happened first, the class learned that the idol had to be the one to face execution. The idol singer managed to give one last faint smile before being dragged off to her final swan song. Finding herself strung up like a puppet, Sayaka was forced to dance across a stage of flashing colors and blaring music. Her feet were forced to step on the wrong colored tiles, resulting in increasingly-harsh electric shocks running through her body. Even after her corpse was completely fried from the electric shocks, her body was still forced to dance for practically eternity.
------------------------------------
Chapter 4: Saying Sorry to The World
------------------------------------
After the events of the last trial, tensions seemed to be higher than ever. With Chihiro isolating himself out of guilt, Byakuya and Celestia being confined to their respective rooms, and Mukuro making her plans to kill Chihiro apparent, before confining herself.
Out of the whole cast, it seems as though only Hajime, Aoi, Sakura are still trying to keep the group together, to no avail.
In lieu of a motive, Monokuma dropped quite the plot twist (two, that is) on them: (1) Hajime is not even supposed to be in this class and (2) the whole class managed to drive one of their classmates to suicide.
While the first announcement barely made any waves (the cruel theories of Byakuya, Celestia, and Mukuro, notwithstanding), the second one led to waves of regret pounding on their souls.
Especially, oddly enough, Kyoko.
Everyone agreed that the best plan for now was to stay in their rooms and not do anything that they might regret. But as another body dropped, it was clear that their promise would never be honored.
The body of Aoi Asahina was found riddled with bullet wounds in the changing room.
As if that wasn't bad enough, Sakura and Mondo have been inflicted with severe wounds as well, with the latter even needing to wear an eyepatch on his left eye.
Hajime, Kyoko, Celestia, and Byakuya, learned that, upon hearing of Mukuro's plans to kill Chihiro, the "Training Quartet" dedicated themselves towards protecting the programmer from the soldier's rampage. This dedication towards protecting Chihiro led to them sustaining severe wounds from Mukuro's attack.
Because of this, suspicion instantly fell on Mukuro. However, Hajime and Kyoko deduced that something else was the cause of Aoi's death.
As it turns out, Aoi ordered the culprit to kill her, her optimism completely shot by the whirlwind of recent events. In her mind, she would rather die that have to lose another one of her friends. The culprit gave her one final protein shake, laced with poison.
And the person who laced and handed her the protein shake was Sakura Oogami, the Ultimate Martial Artist.
It was with heavy hearts that the remaining students voted for Sakura (especially Mondo and Chihiro), and sent her off to her death. In her execution, Sakura was forced to fight off a horde of progressively stronger Monokuma, until she ends up dying from her muscles overloading. In spite of all this, though, Sakura continues to stand. This blatant act of defiance only serves to enrage Monokuma, as he angrily escorts the depressed students out of the trial room.
------------------------------------
Chapter 5: Mind Over Matter; Pain of a Vengeful Revenant
------------------------------------
After Mukuro's rampage and the ensuing fallout, the remaining students decide to stick it to Monokuma, put their differences aside, and try, once again, to get out.
Although it was very hard to let Mukuro back into the group, especially with Mondo's vendetta against her, Chihiro's forgiving nature ensures that at least some progress is being made.
But, oddly enough, none of the students have seen either Byakuya or Celestia.
That is, until the students made it to the biology lab.
The bodies of both Byakuya Togami, the Ultimate Affluent Progeny, and Celestia Ludenberg, the Ultimate Gambler, were found in the biology lab. No signs of death are found on their bodies.
Just like the previous four times, the students made their way to the trial grounds to solve the mysterious "double murder".
Everyone else had an alibi, apart from Hajime and Kyoko, with the rest of them attending a new bonding exercise in the gym. Because of this, suspicion ends up falling on the duo.
Contrary to her aloof character, Kyoko is oddly insistent that she is the culprit, and tries to lift the blame off of Hajime.
Hajime was forced to make a choice between voting for a party that was obviously not guilty, or framing himself. He ultimately chose the former.
Although Monokuma tells them that they have voted wrong, he seemed oddly eager to execute Kyoko Kirigiri, the Ultimate Detective. More eager than he has ever been. A pair of mechanical handcuffs latch themselves onto Kyoko and pull her towards a metal pole, which she was tightly bound to. An inhuman amount of weapons point towards Kyoko, ready to fire. Just as the weapons began to fire, the execution shut off for some reason. This allows Hajime to rescue her. They still ended up falling into a garbage dump.
When interrogated by Hajime on her actions, Kyoko tearfully breaks down. From there, it was revealed that Kyoko had all of her memories retained, unlike the other students. She remembered the class being friends with each other for a good two years. Until, she found out that one of said classmates turned their rival class against them. When she tried to expose him for his acts, he used this to paint her as a cruel and monstrous abuser. This explains why the person behind Monokuma was so eager to execute her.
This was just before he faked his suicide, to fully paint his class as a bunch of neglectful and cruel monsters.
Wanting justice for the needless slaughter of the class, Hajime and Kyoko finally got out of the garbage dump. The two confronted Monokuma, forcing a reinvestigation and retrial.
The stuffed bear tried desperately to stop them, only for a building-wide blackout to shut the bear down.
With no time to waste, the survivors got together to find all the clues that they possibly could.
------------------------------------
Chapter 6: Ultimate Vengeance, Ultimate Slaughter, Ultimate Conflict, Ultimate Punishment, Ultimate Finale
------------------------------------
During the investigation, the students found a couple of newspaper clippings on Byakuya's dead body. They were primarily related to the alleged suicide of Makoto Naegi, due to mistreatment by his classmates.
Byakuya and Celestia have both written respective notes to the rest of the students, outlining their murder plan to "end the killing game". It started with both of them, getting into the mysterious room on the fourth floor. Although they both got attacked by a horde of mysterious masked people, they both managed to recover enough information to come to a conclusion:
Not only is Makoto Naegi the mastermind, but he is also still alive.
For the grand finale, the remaining five survivors made their way over to the trial room. With the electricity still turned off, they got to work reporting their discoveries. But when they got to the topic of Makoto Naegi being the mastermind, the electricity flickered back on.
Monokuma jumps up from his spot, stark raving mad. Frothing at the mouth that the boy they killed could potentially be the mastermind. Even his familiar voice started to sound more disjointed, like several people speaking at once.
That is, until a foot came crashing down on the plush toy.
A foot belonging to Makoto Naegi, the real Ultimate Lucky Student. (Although, he prefers to be called the "Ultimate Warmonger".)
Upon seeing the boy, memories came rushing back for the remaining students, except for Hajime. They were horrified upon seeing the person they always thought they could trust and confide in, enthusiastically confirm himself to be the mastermind behind this whole chain of events.
However, as Makoto himself confirms, he was not the person who put them into the killing game. He switched on the giant television in the middle of the trial room to showcase who was responsible.
Class 77. The remaining students saw the shocked and horrified faces of their upperclassman staring back at them.
After this bombshell, Makoto decided to tell everyone his backstory. Growing up, he always had a resentment for Ultimate students, but knew that he would remain a nobody forever, if he didn't become an Ultimate. And this resentment didn't stop, after he was accepted into Hope's Peak.
He wanted nothing more than to knock them down a few pegs, and show that Ultimates are just like everybody else. Just as stupid and susceptible to manipulation as anyone else.
Upon seeing just how broken and dysfunctional the students of Class 77 are, he found the perfect patsies.
He started waltzing his way into their lives, greeting them cheerfully and treating them like a decent human being. It was something that most of Class 77 have never received in their lives. For that, they latched onto his affection like a newborn to a mother's nipple.
He started to put up the facade of an innocent and childish person to further endear himself to them.
Pretty soon, even the unsavory likes of Fuyuhiko, Hiyoko, and Teruteru dropped pretty much all of their worse qualities, and became only the best older sibling figures to him.
Eventually, he started to intersperse teeny-little ideas that maybe his classmates don't actually treat him like a person.
That Leon and Aoi force him to do their homework. That Celestia and Byakuya use him like a servant or a pack mule. That Sayaka and Sakura critique his body and force him to starve himself. That Junko inflicts cruel pranks on him for her own amusement. That Kiyotaka considers him the pinnacle of laziness for his Ultimate. That Yasuhiro saddles him with his debts and forces him to confront any rival gangs. That the others know about this, and don't do anything to speak out against this treatment.
But no one was worse than his girlfriend, Kyoko. A spoiled brat who only got in on family connections. Someone who cruelly disregards and neglects him, whenever he was struggling with anything. Someone who thinks of him as an incapable moron who can't do anything without her holding his hand. Someone who uses him as bait during cases. Even spread some rumors that she was cheating on him with another guy.
The more the class hears these stories, the more their wrath and hatred towards Makoto's class increases. And once the luckster bursts into (crocodile) tears, all they saw was red.
Nobody hurts with their baby. Nobody.
Eventually, these stories spread across the whole school, with only the Reserve Course not hearing of those rumors.
While their reputations were already shaky, by the time Makoto commits "suicide" from stress, the world at large hates their guts.
As several videos could tell, even the loved ones of Class 78 want nothing more to do with them. Chihiro's father, Mondo's gang, even Kyoko's grandfather.
Pulling all the survivors into the deepest pit of despair.
Makoto allowed them to make a choice: they can either stay in the academy and hide away from a world that hates their guts, or get out of the academy and stand face-to-face with a world that hates their guts.
Everybody was at a standstill...
Until Hajime stood his ground, and voted to be let out: taking the risk condemnation over an act of cowardice any day.
His words inspired peace within the rest of the survivors, allowing them to make the decision to leave the game and face the world.
But not before dragging Makoto and Class 77 out to face the consequences of their actions.
This concludes the story of Hajime Hinata (the "Ultimate Peacekeeper"), Kyoko Kirigiri (the Ultimate Detective), Mondo Oowada (the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader), Chihiro Fujisaki (the Ultimate Programmer), and Mukuro Ikusaba (the Ultimate Soldier).

The mastermind Hiro Au is never far from my mind and I've always wanted to take a crack at drawing survivors after high school and working at the future foundation. So here's Leon and Celestia. Leon works on the field using his skills to rescue other survivors, only ever taking a break for a fun baseball game to relax and boost the morale of others. Celestia's work involves calculating where to push the monokuma army back and attack. Her tactics involve high risk, but we all know she doesn't step down from a gamble. She also owns a castle used as a refugee camp/hospital for those rescued before they can be rehoused into a more comfortable community ( that is being built by Mondo, head of construction)

Here is more information for this AU which I hope will make sense.
Here are the cannon divergence to the final death order [kiyotaka millionth attempt] and why for this AU:
Chapter 1:
Victim:Makoto
Blackened:Sayaka
[I wanted to have cannon divergence here, as I wanted to illustrate the idea that Kiyotaka Action of becoming the mastermind is slowly effecting the outcome. Despite at this point he is given up hope and trying to enforce the rules or the outcomes set by all the previous attempts as mentioned previously.]
[How I feel like this could occur: I wanted choose either Leon or Sayaka to survive chapter 1. Given how the events of that chapter took place in cannon. its more reasonable to say Leon. As Leon was drawn out in a failed murder attempt. So if he wasn't drawn out. Its safe to say he would have a survived and the next person sayaka COULD have gone for is most likely Makoto.]
[How is he drawn out: I want it again to be as a consequence of Kiyotaka. Subtly. Kiyotaka wouldn't show any reaction to the motive videos of chapter 1. (As he has seen this a million times) Leon plans on conforting Kiyotaka on this and draws him out to have a talk himself. They talk in Leon's room while the murder took place]
(This is the best I could think of for that 😭)
Mukuro lives. But is blocked from access to attending the mastermind room.(cut of any information of whats happening)[Unaware of Junko Death and the New master as kiyotaka is acting like Junko to keep the rules and enforce the idea that there is nothing different]
(WHY DOES SHE LIVE- If you play dangaronpa if. It is stated that she was told to do what she did to monokuma by Junko herself. So without Junko telling her this as [she is dead] and Kiyotaka effectively not knowing that Mukuro was told to do this. As you only learn this in the divergence. She lives and doesn't experience spears of gungir]
Chapter 2-
No victim, No culprit
[REASON-Mondo, Chihiro don't die here. For the simple reason the motive. The motive is about secrets. Kiyotaka lack of knowledge on the stole school memories /so any pre indedictors on what the secrets can be. It is extremely unlike he can carry out this motive unless its pre written. This means both Chihiro and Mondo live. As chihiro was never motivate by the secrets to train and become a man]
[The effect- kiyotaka is in disbelief. He doesn't believe what he wished for. (Mondo survival) had finally occurred. He gets caught up with this in chapter 3. Hence he doesn't go when he is drawn out by celeste/Hifumi. However, in the end he believes. Mondo isnt going to live through it]
Chapter 3-
Victims- Hifumi, Yasuhiro [PROTENTIALLY]
Culpurit- Celestia
(Yasuhiro survival in this au is 50/50 for me. As I am very unsure if celestia couldn't get hifumi to kill kiyotaka. She would get him to kill someone else. If she does. The only reasonable person I can think of is Yasuhiro)
Chapter 4-
Victim-Sakura
Culprit- Sakura
Executed: ????? [Most likely alterego]
[WHY IS IT SAME- as stated previously kiyotaka will try and enforce what has previously occurred to his best ability. Though sakura can longer like mukuro have access to the mastermind lair. She probably expresses to Monokuma [Kiyotaka] that she is the traitor/ kiyotaka has lived through this before in one of his attempts and knows she is the traitor]
Kiyotaka knowledge of his previous attempts about alter ego. Will mostly resort in his execution. Though he wouldn't really have a major role in this narrative.
Chapter 5:
"Victim" -Junko
Executed- Kyoko
Same events of Chapter 5 mostly. But instead of mukuro body being used its junkos. Kyoko is executed in this au as there is no makoto to take her place and like cannon alter ego will not save her.
Chapter 6:
Kiyotaka is eventually caught in the last class trial.... I don't know what's give him away. But mukuro being alived helps.. People learn what happened to Kiyotaka and why he is doing this.. [the only people who believe him are Yasuhiro <potentially being alive>, Mondo and Mukuro] as a self punishment for what he has done... the suffering he has caused.. he executes himself.. to finally set himself free of this cycle. Knowing he succeed in saving Mondo and Chihiro, In one cruel turn of events. (I don't know if someone will try and intervene to save him)
Suviours- Leon,Chihiro, Mondo,Aoi,Mukuro,Byakuya, Toko
Possible suviours- Yasuhiro and Kiyotaka
(I hope I didn't miss anyone lol)
This is just the basic structure of this au. There is more to it. I think it would fun to know the final death order and who's survives this. If there's anything fun you think I should add or change please say and I will. In addition, I can do art of this if asked.
Here is a mastermind kiyotaka ishimaru idea:
Kiyotaka is one of few people in the trigger happy havoc cast who wouldn't start as a mastermind under any circumstance. Unless during these Games, he lost all hope. Here is a interesting concept of why: All based on this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This au would involve around these Time machine actually being real. But just like Makoto or us (the player) no matter how many times he restarts the game to try and save his friends. He can't save his friends..He can't save Mondo. This would result in him slowly losing his mind and himself in the process as seen by the game he can't take losing Mondo once. He would lose his mind if he is forced to live through mondo death hundereds of times no matter what he does.
However, as a result of going back hundereds of times. He learns more and more information about the killing game. He eventually learns about Junko and after the sheer amount of times he was put under the despair of losing his friends over and over due to her. He 💀 her and takes her place as the mastermind. As too him there is no point of trying to change anyone's fate anymore and he will live and enforce the rules that the killing game set for him and everyone else.
[I can do art to explain more of this]

Danganronpa Character Tropes/Patterns Across Main 3 Games
I'm sure this exists somewhere already, but I wanted to make a list for my own self-reference because I was analyzing the patterns across games, so I figured why not post it? Unfortunately, this ended up egregiously long, and I decided to stop and post it before it got even longer. I'm sure I missed plenty of things, but I didn't want it getting any longer. I already spent a lot of time refreshing my memory and poring over the Danganronpa Fandom Wiki to make this list, ahaha...
So, here we go--I made a few categories: 1. Personality, 2. Ultimate Talents, 3. Cast Dynamics, 4. Killing Game, and 5. Body Characteristics. Wasn't sure how to format it, but I tried. I didn't list their Ultimate Talents since I figured most people remember/know.
If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to pop into the replies or my askbox and we can discuss! There might be some you disagree on. Under the cut for Danganronpa spoilers and length!

FF - Project: Revival - File: B
Inside this document, Future Foundation employees will find basic documentation regarding each subject from Future Foundation's revival project in regards to the 'killing game' hosted by Junko Enoshima and Chihiro Fujisaki containing their class. (Hopes Peak Academy's Class 78).
Please refer to File C to update and record all tests. Only document test results in File B if they result in severe changes or information we may need to know of generally.
Subject 001 - Sayaka Maizono
Subject 001 has shown good progress as she recovers. Appears slightly disoriented and refuses to go places alone. Subject 001 does not appear to hold a grudge against Subject 003, but does appear to show apprehension towards communicating with him.
Notably, Subject 001 proceeds to drool blood when distressed, the blood worsening the more she is distressed. She did not initially appear harmed when this occurred, but testing showed this was a farce, as she grew very lightheaded when more blood was lost.
We have noticed Subject 001 has done best in social tests, as, even when covering her face and told to  keep a low profile, she has shown to hold conversations and put those she speaks to at ease. This may be helped by Subject 001 being one of three who shows little obvious signs of scarring, her only scars being on her abdomen, and persistent drool on her chin. (Wiping at this drool does not get rid of it, it appears to be a stain. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 001 has been seen trying to communicate with Subject 006, and continues to try to do so despite their failure to respond to her.
Subject 001 has not had to be punished with the electro-shock band often.
Subject 002 - Mukuro Ikusaba
Subject 002 is very closed off, but has recovered physically. She remains closest to Subject 000, but during visitation has been drawn to Makoto Naegi. Subject 002 is very resilient during testing, but appears more vigilant than what her old peers claimed.
Subject 002 does not appear to hold a bond closer to any other subject, but has been seen staring at Subject 006. Subject 000 has been recorded stating that Subject 002 is ‘drooling’ staring at Subject 006… we have not seen this occur, though. Subject 002 is docile with FF members, and does not attempt to aggravate others like her sister. She’s shown to have an interest in the common room’s exercise equipment, she seems to most enjoy the jumping rope.
Subject 002 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her helping of Subject 000’s desire to cause trouble for other subjects.
Subject 003 - Leon Kuwata
Subject 003 has been less than progressive with his recovery. We suspect this is due to his scarring, as it was much more significant than most. He has stitch-like patterns emblazoned onto his body from his ‘execution’, and we had to perform a rhinoplasty to restore his nose, as it was completely shattered, giving us little to work with.
Subject 003 has shown to hold a positive relationship with Subject 005, but holds no (apparent) connection to Subject 006, despite being around them when with Subject 005. Subject 003 has also been noted to stare at Subject 001, although there does not appear to be any malice in this habit. We plan to initiate an interaction between them to study it.
Subject 003 is aggressive when testing is prompted, but has yet to be so aggressive he needs to be sedated.
Subject 003 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band often due to his abrasive behavior.
Subject 004 - Chihiro Fujisaki
Subject 004 was a Mastermind. Because of this, she is heavily monitored. However, unlike Subject 000 (whom Subject 004 is in a romantic relationship with), she does appear to have remorse for her actions. This has only been noted in conversations she’s held with Subject 000, which have been recorded and transcribed. Subject 004 has made several comments in regards to the ‘looks’ she gets from the other subjects. Despite this, she does not seem to hold any desire to stray away from Subject 000, and in fact shows heavy disdain at the idea of ending their relationship.
Subject 004 has a large scar from where she was struck, but often covers it with her hair. Unlike Subject 006, she does not appear to have any other facial scarring. (Subject 004 has shown severe anger towards Byakuya Togami. I advise any researchers not to allow her to speak to him and vice versa. - Rs. Dolo.)
Subject 004 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band a few times, this is mostly due to her attempting to perform acts of kindness before we deem it proper. She is not yet ready for redemption, it will only ruin the experiment.
Subject 005 - Mondo Oowada
Subject 005 has done well in his recovery, however we have noted he refuses to leave Subject 006’s side. He speaks with Subject 006 more than anyone, and has expressed immense remorse for Subject 006’s death being ‘his fault’. It is rare the two do not have some form of physical contact
Subject 005 has scarring all over his body, albeit it is not in any notable consistency. These scars take the form of fencing, a diamond-like pattern seen throughout them. He also has a large x-shaped scar on his face, something he appears to be discouraged by.
Subject 005 is extremely aggressive to testing, he MUST be sedated. (DO NOT TRY TO SEPARATE SUBJECT 005 FROM SUBJECT 006 WITHOUT SEDATING SUBJECT 005. HE WILL ATTACK ANY FF MEMBERS. - Rs. Dolo) Due to his temper, he is easily set off. While Subject 006 usually can get Subject 005 to settle, enough prodding will lead to extremely violent behavior.
Subject 005 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to his violent outbursts. We have noted he requires a higher wattage.
Subject 006 - Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Subject 006 is the most compliant out of all subjects. This would be great if not for his refusal to speak to most people. He only speaks with Subject 005, Subject 008, and Yasuhiro Hagakure.  (Hagakure has noted that Subject 006 often asks about his father. Due to the non disclosure clause, little updates have been given. Hagakure has asked that we allow subjects to see their families soon. He may have a point. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006 has been found suffering multiple migraines in short periods. We initially suspected this to only be due to their OSDD, but conversations recorded with Subject 008 suggest otherwise. We are unsure if his ‘blacked-out’ eye causes him pain, but we have noticed it bleeds when he cries. We are also unsure if he is blind in this eye, or if his vision is limited. (Recent tests have proven that Subject 006 can see in the dark. A recorded conversation with Subject 005 confirmed his sight is in fact extremely clear in the dark, and his ‘blacked-out’ eye ‘glows in the dark’. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006, while never hostile himself, holds a member within their system (referred to only as Akira by Subject 009 and Subject 006) who is VERY hostile during tests. They have had to be sedated twice. (THEY BITE!!! HARD! Will draw blood. I suggest having Subject 009 coax them into allowing tests to be run. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times. This is due to his failure to eat on time, hydrate, and due to attempted self harm.
Subject 007 - Hifumi Yamada
Subject 007 has coped the most well out of every subject. It appears he uses his art to cope with his recovery. Subject 007 has suffered migraines, although his scarring does not seem as severe as that of others. Strangely, Subject 007 holds no malice towards Subject 008. We are unsure why this is. Evidence from the game (see: File A) suggests Subject 008 lied to Subject 007 and killed him, something he was aware of in death.
Subject 007 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band a few times due to breaking curfews. However, when we administered a game system in the common room, this issue reduced in occurrence.
Subject 008 - Celestia Ludenberg
Subject 008 shows indifference when approached about her recovery. She stays close to Subject 006, this is likely due to their blood relation and their deal in the game (see: File A), and we have noted she has been trustworthy in preventing Subject 006’s failure to eat.
Subject 008 has several burns on her arms, and has made comments about wishing to cover them with long gloves. She also has a large scar on her torso. Subject 008 has requested several pain relieving creams for her burns, but we have opted to only adhere to these requests when convenient. (Avoid giving her these during physical tests, only for psychological tests so she is not distracted. - Rs. Dolo)
She continues to complain about the quality of her bedding. We do not plan to upgrade it.
Subject 008 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her refusal to comply with wardrobe requirements. We suspect this will change when she is sent home and is able to dress as she pleases.
Subject 009 - Sakura Ogami
Subject 009’s recovery has gone well, but similar to Subjects 006 and 007, she suffers headaches, and was required to be given liver and kidney transplants due to the organs being inefficient when the revival process was complete. This has led to Subject 009 having to take several medications every morning. Do not allow a day to go by without these being taken, lest the experiment be ruined.
Subject 009 appears to get along most well with Aoi Asahina, as well as Akira (see: Subject 006). Despite Hagakure’s fears, she has made it known she holds no ill will towards him. Due to the nature of Subject 009’s death, she has minor scarring from the glass she was struck with before it, as well as altered hair that is now black and white. (It’s like Frankenstein’s bride or something. Subject 006 has a similar white streak throughout their hair. - Rs. Dolo) Dyeing the hair does not hold for long, regardless of how strong of a dye is used. She appears indifferent to this.
Similar to Subject 001, Subject 009 has been found trying her best to help other subjects cope. We’ve noted she’s the most mature out of the group, and although she may not perform as well as Subject 001 in social situations, she performs quite well regardless.
Subject 009 has not had to be punished with the electro-shock band very often.
Subject 000 - Junko Enoshima
Subject 000 was the mastermind of the game, working with Subject 004, with minor help from Subject 002. She has several scars, but does not appear to care about the changes to her appearance. Rather, Subject 000 seems more focused on watching the other subjects. She most often speaks with Subject 004 and Subject 002, the others she tries to speak to refuse to respond to her. Unlike Subject 004, Subject 000 has shown zero remorse for her past actions, instead appearing to take great pleasure in the evident coldness shown from her peers.
We warn researchers to not allow Subject 000 to see any files, regardless of how often she may ask.
Subject 000 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her desire to cause trouble for her peers, researchers, and incessant talking during testing.

Hmm...For most feasible masterminds, off the top of my head:
THH
Byakuya. The Togami family can take on the role Towa has in canon, where they benefit financially from the Tragedy and benefit financially from the opposition to the Tragedy. The motivation could be similar to Rameses from Prince of Egypt; he doesn't want to be the weak link that breaks the chain of a mighty dynasty. Suppose something happened beforehand that made him feel like a failure, and he had to overcompensate by creating an extraordinary source of income for all of Togami's business ventures and a game that he intends to win in front of the entire world. Narratively, this would be a different story than canon, because I'm imagining a Mastermind Byakuya who gets gradually worn down by all the ways the other characters disprove his worldview, and his motive goes from an aloof "prove to the world that I'm better than these inferior Ultimates" to a highly invested and personal "prove to myself that these guys are all out for themselves in the end". When he's unable to prove that, he breaks down. And because I'm incapable of not making this Naegami, there's a lot of that going on in this AU. His feelings for Makoto might be a huge reason Byakuya pushed himself to do the killing game in the first place, and he's watching Makoto closely for when he'll finally betray his friends. A lot of his general frustration gets channeled into his interactions with Makoto. And have I mentioned that there isn't enough Yandere Byakuya Naegami stuff? Food for thought. The game's motives are the same, but Monokuma is different. The silliness and absurdity aren't there; he's just a generic scary threat intended to force the group to act in accordance with their self-preservative instincts. He's probably not a teddy bear. If he is, there's a very direct reason. The color scheme of Mastermind Byakuya could be white and gold, or something of the sort.
Taka, kind of. There's a foundation there, if you take his dislike for the concept of born genius as a beef with Hope's Peak just foundationally. A killing game isn't a natural extension of this, though, so I'd say they're trapped in the school for something more in line with a morality test. Here are the country's finest, according to those who study talent. But are they truly the best of us? Will they do what's right under incredible circumstances? The intent isn't for them to kill each other, but when they start to, well. Those are just the results of the test. The proctor doesn't interrupt while the test is in session. He's still really close to Mondo. The motive about revealing secrets doesn't play out the same way, because the nature of those secrets isn't something Taka would consider it appropriate to leverage over them. It kind of wouldn't cross his mind. More likely, those of them who have done wrong would have their wrongdoings revealed with no opportunity to keep them secret, and either the test would be how the group at large reacts to that happening or there is no test in particular associated with it; he just believes the world deserves to know what these "geniuses" have done. But if Mondo does kill or die, it would still break his heart, but the game goes on. Just in general, the way the game plays out crushes him, but he feels that if he pulls the plug, then he's no better than Hope's Peak, covering up the faults of the Ultimates. I'd say for this AU there is no Monokuma equivalent; the rules are presented in the handbooks and maybe on posters on the walls, and an unseen entity enforces them.
Leon. The aesthetic would be different, but he's actually one I could see justifiably being characterized similarly to Junko, since the player sees so little of him before he exits the game. He's in a very similar position. It's still more cool to play with how you can make him different, but as far as having a more "because I wanted to" motive, I feel like he'd be the closest. If he had a Monokuma equivalent, I think it would act more like Monokid.
Celeste, but the entire vibe would be so different. If she were mastermind of a killing game, then she's openly watching a gladiator match of her least favorite classmates from a throne above them all, drinking tea. The classmates she does like, she gives the option to submit to her and they don't have to do the killing game. Her cat has his own throne. Of course, this comes at the expense of her depth as a character, but I think Celeste herself would approve of placing aesthetic before character depth.
Chihiro. It would be really cool. I don't have an idea for motive right now, because I'm kind of distracted by my family watching the Super Bowl, but I've seen some cosplay TikToks of Mastermind Chihiro and the idea has legs.
SDR2
(Speaking in the sense of the mastermind being the one trying to rig the killing game against the participants and bring back Junko in people's bodies.)
Nagito, of course. Too many ways this could work. If I go into it, it'll be its own post.
Mahiru. Her taking the initiative in some ways and pushing people along to take the initiative in other ways could be a way she's pulling the strings. Honestly, since they're Remnants irl, it could just be that everyone agreed ahead of time to make her the one who sabotages them while they're in the simulation, because she's good at getting things done subtly and also most of the rest of them want to experience the despair more than they want to be the ones organizing it.
Sonia. Very similar deal to Mahiru.
Chiaki. Okay, this is a rogue AI deal where maybe she thinks her friends are better off not reuniting their avatars with their bodies.
V3
Kaito. Oh, definitely. The idea that he takes on a role of encouraging similar sentiments to Makoto ("Keep trying. Believe in your friends."), but in a different enough way that it lowkey makes the game worse for everyone. But he reads as just a good guy who goes overboard sometimes, until you find out that he actually has been doing all of this on purpose to push the group to their limits. His killing game would definitely, definitely be in space. Even if we're beholden to the idea that an entire legacy of Danganronpa exists before this, I think he's stubborn enough to think he can actually, genuinely kill the mascot and replace it with a new character, so in this version a different mascot kills Monokuma and takes over the game. His new Monokuma equivalent would be more archetypal campy villain. Stylistically, closer to Zerg from Toy Story. The audience hates that he didn't utilize Monokuma in his season, of course, but he feels like he's started a great new legacy. He plays a great villain and his betrayal has full dramatic and artistic flair, but the audience can't get past the fact that he had the nerve to get rid of Monokuma an hour in.
Shuichi. Maybe a tad obvious, given the first case, but it ties together the themes of the first case in a way I like a lot. Even better if his lack of confidence in his detective skills isn't an act; he genuinely does build confidence during the killing game, and he genuinely is solving the cases without outside knowledge. He's super loyal to Danganronpa's brand integrity and does not believe it needs to break the mold in any way, so there is classic Monokuma and there are no Monokubs, and barring the group finding out that it's all fiction, the in-universe reveal is that he's Junko Enoshima's secret grandson or something.
Gonta. Similar to Chihiro; I just think it could be cool. The aesthetic stuff that can be done with a bug motif?
This is fully my own problem, but I am such a curmudgeon about Mastermind AUs, exclusively because I think the idea of another character being the mastermind is so cool that I want to see it explored so deeply, and if it's executed like "so and so is the mastermind, they're characterized like Junko, they do everything Junko did, Monokuma looks the same, etc." I find it to not be my particular cup of tea. The variations based on the character's different personality and motivations are the point, for me.
A Mastermind AU with a different color scheme than Junko's red, white, and black is one after my heart. (Though that's not a requirement; I think some masterminds just genuinely would also use those colors. Like Taka.)
