The Value of Our Pain Pain is the prerequisite precursor and predecessor of our being. Aprerequisite must be complete before taking the next step. A precursor is one that precedes and indicates the approach of another. A predecessor is an ancestor without whom we would not exist. Think this example. The love your parents made in pleasure or in pain prompted the invasion of egg by sperm prerequisite to the painful experience of childbirth by child and mother.  Pain is the prerequisite precursor and predecessor of our being. None of us experience life without pain. It is our birthright privilege on the path to awakening and enlightenment. Some of us experience enough pain for many. The initial awareness of pain can be extremely uncomfortable and feel as if it lasts forever. Many remember childhood traumas of pain that almost feel impossible to shake loose. There is beautiful life after childhood pain. I am a firsthand witness. When our pain becomes PTSD, our greatest opportunity has arrived. It came for me as I looked out at an audience gathered to hear me speak. As I began to open my mouth, these words came out. ‘If you are a ready to step away from your pain and live the life of your hopes, when would now be a good time to transform your pain, anger and depression into love?’ That was the talk. The rest was massive love, touching and hugging each other. When relief came, expressions of gratitude broke out in the auditorium. I cried in gratitude for the moment in beauty.
