The Shape of Things
Massage gives my hands lots of Information about the Shape of Things. This is the shape of things after many years of doing the same things in the same way. This is apparent when you start working on a body doing massage. Physical Therapists have a lovely term for this: Effort Shape.
When I start work with a new client, I frequently start them face down. By the time you stroke the map of the spine you can begin to feel the torques that are there for instance.
If the left QL is shorter than the right, the pelvis is likely to have a right rotation. When the client is instructed to turn their pelvis to the left, they may dig their knee into the table to make that happen. If you stretch the quad on the left it may feel tight and restricted compared to the right hip. Because the pelvis is rotated right and all the weight is being carried on the left hip the ES will test weak on the right side. The support for the back will be coming from the grip of the external rotators in the right hip.
The Shape of Things is quite apparent. It also predicts weaknesses:
A hiked Lt QL pulls your weight to the left: Rt Erector Spinae and QL are often inhibited. This puts a torque into the pelvis with a left Iliac crest anterior tilt and right rotated pelvis.
The kinetic chains of inhibition/facilitation from these basics through to the legs, shoulders and arms are numerous.
Often, we don’t realize a problem exists with the base of support in the pelvis for our movement system until our knee starts hurting or our hip joints begin to wear out.
Mod 1 NMR will give you a coherent strategy for changing the Shape of Things. The current NMR teaching schedule is up on the NeuroMuscular-Reprogramming.com/events website.
No matter where you are in the world you can join us for the Live Streaming series broadcast via Zoom simultaneously with the in person class in Marin County CA.
Sign up for all 4 modules at once and save big money!

I’m reviewing traditional Chinese medicine and Tui-Na massage for part of my required CEUs, and I’d forgotten that my textbook has a model with a very prominent dick.

Canada RMT Tax Exempt Petition 2024
there is an official petition open now for massage therapy to not have taxes charged on top of the treatment cost!!
so firstly it makes getting a massage treatment from a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) a lot more affordable!
secondly, this is huge for RMTs since we’re seen as a medical profession here and yet have to charge taxes, unlike chiros and physios that are tax exempt as medical expenses.
most therapists work as sub-contractors at clinics, so are taxed as small businesses but don’t have the expenses to claim to offset that cost (the clinics we work for claim the expenses but foot the tax bill to us once we make 30k). it gets pretty expensive trying to pay those fees each year on top of regular expenses and CEUs.
so every [Canadian] signature on this would be super appreciated and helpful!! As well as boosting the message 🙏
Thank-you so much for your time!

y'know what I actually would love to infodump about, though? massage for fat people. because WE DON'T GET TAUGHT HOW TO DO THAT. it's all just, like. all the instructional videos and pictures in the text books are vaguely attractive thin people, and when it's chest work they're all MEN like FUCKING EXCUSE ME I think I can figure out chest work on a MAN, show me some TITS! show me some respectful, safe work on the TITS! but yeah so I actually went looking for specific resources on how to give enjoyable and effective massage on fat clients and as far as I can tell THEY DON'T EXIST??? THERE ARE NO RESOURCES??? but then I learned that I'm apparently, PROBABLY qualified to write continuing education courses, which I thought I couldn't do because I don't have a four year degree, but I DO have at least five years in practice, which is apparently GOOD ENOUGH!!! if I survive the peer review process. on the CEUs I wanna write about HOW THE FUCK TO ACTUALLY MASSAGE FAT PEOPLE GODDAMNIT. how do I know how to do it?? well. I figured it out. but I'm exceptionally good at what I do. every single one of us shouldn't have to figure it out individually and separately. I wanna tell people. HAVE I WRITTEN THE FUCKING THING YET?? well no. but that doesn't mean I'll shut up about it, either.
are you fat? I feel like this is a resource you should probably co-write alongside a fat person. I'm sure you've self-taught a lot of techniques that massage therapists definitely need to hear about and you should definitely share the knowledge, but I'm sure a fat masseuse has invented plenty of their own, and a fat massage client would have some wonderful insights to contribute about how it feels on the receiving end and also what to do and not do in terms of bedside manner and talking about bodies and the like.
not surprised to hear this entire population is overlooked unfortunately.

What exactly is happening here? 🤡 Nauli Kriya is a Hatha yoga technique that uses muscles of the torso to massage and “cleanse” the organs. It helps with circulation and elimination - 2 essential factors in health. (Thank you @internalpractice for capturing this video) You can see Rectus Abdominis muscle contracting one side at a time to create a “rolling” effect. The other layers of abdominal muscle are totally relaxed. The ribcage is lifted using the intercostals and many other muscles in the neck and shoulders. This is the Best way to massage the internal organs daily. It requires some practice of pranayama because it requires you to hold to breath out of the body for 15-30 seconds. Or you can also do abdominal massage instead! 💪🏽🤩 Online 50-hr Anatomy Immersion with Rose Erin - February 12-13 + 19-20. Personal Investments for July
- School - I only have  5 classes to go before I finished my associates degree
- a tea set - I will be buying a tea set. I have a big journey ahead of me so I have decided that in order to stay motivated and keep myself sane I need to embrace soft mornings. Part of those soft morning will be me brewing some tea for myself before I am off.
- I am investing in a couple of AI centered companies that I believe in, I want to invest $25-$50 in each until the end of the year.
- I will be buying more things for my small business.
- I am changing my wardrobe - This isn’t going to happen all at once and I will be buying mostly basics.
- I should be getting a massage sometime this month.
- I will be going take amore natural approach  - I will be going to the chiropractor ang possibly acupuncture
- CEUs - I have to renew my esthetics license and some medical certs!
- I also need a hobby - I was thinking about embroidery.
- I want to start gardening - I will be starting a small garden in a planter to enjoy some fresh herbs on the daily.
- Hello Fresh - I spend a lot of time figuring out what I want to eat, and not enough time just enjoying the food. I chose this option because I wanted to try different recipes and have some direction food wise.
- Sisterlocs consultation - I had locs for over 18 years and I cut them because they were damaged. Now I want to to have microlocs or sisterlocs because I love when my hair is long and I am not much for doing a lot to my hair.
- If I can find one within budget - a food sensitivity test. My mom has been telling me I need one because even though I eat somewhat healthy I may be eating things that give me inflammation.
