I saw a post one time about someone always looking in the background of MASH episodes to try and see Father Mulcahy to see what he’s doing, and now I do it constantly.

It’s just so fun and he’s pretty easy to spot in crowd scenes because of his hat so it’s a fun little game

I do notice pretty much immediately if he’s not in OR though and it always makes me sad cause I’m like “where is he?? where’s the boy??”

This post has no point I just felt like sharing the fact that I essentially play I Spy while I watch MASH but it’s always Father Mulcahy

that was me to my sibling last night, and i stayed up til 1:10ish and still didnt finish the final pass over hawkeye's eye. everything else took like 5ish minutes

Some headcanons I have about Hawkeye as I start season 6:

He still stops by that family’s house where he stayed when he got that concussion from the accident

He understands a lot of Korean actually but is too shy about messing up so he just sticks to his “please” and “thank you”s

When he wins an especially large pot at poker night he sends a good chunk of it to the orphanage

He still sleep walks/has night terrors but everyone’s used to it by now and lets him be (they’ll tell him what they saw but mostly relay it back to BJ)

If Father Mulcahy catches wind of it though he often pops by for a chat

Also father mulcahy 100% is in correspondence with Freedman, both swap helpful information on how to help those in their care

Kellye is a better lead dancer than he is, but she gives pointers if he asks

Hawkeye walks Klinger to church every Sunday after he went blind, it’s their little routine

He actually made a sleep mask to wear sometimes when he really wants to absorb the world around him

The only other person Hawkeye looks up to outside of his father is Radar, and has been doing so since late season 1. He will never tell a soul about it though

The juniper for the gin comes from all over. If he’s lucky, it’s from Crabapple Grove and shipped over from family and friends, but most of its black market from China and Japan

He actually really hates sand and can walk barefoot on the most fucked up seashell and sharp rock beach because he’s from Maine

Green used to be his favorite color, but after his discharge I think the sight of it would make him nauseous

He has 100% worn a used condom during a surgery

He and BJ spoon and cuddle and are quite physically affectionate when there’s nothing/no one to bother them

Fishing used to be a hobby of his, but after Henry passed he gets far too emotional over the lures

During basic training, someone in his class died in an accident (quite common even now)

If he wasn’t a doctor his hair would be longer and he’d have a beard

Brought his favorite pen from his practice with him and lost it on the plane ride over
