For the headcanon thingy: Mary Winchester :)
A ship I have with said character: A BROTP I have with said character: A NOTP I have with said character: A random headcanon: General Opinion over said character:
i think mary is bi but very good at repressing it. wanna be girl best friends? like mother like son. gender wise i think shes a cis woman. but sometimes i like to think about transmasc mary....it does intrigue me.
a ship i have with her- ??? no clue tbh. maybe maryjody. sounds fun. brotp i have with her...mary n cas. i think they rlly help eachother out and relate to eachother in many ways.
notp- id say john/mary but i do like thinking abt their horrid relationship. that being said congrats on the divorce, queen! maybe maryketch. mary ur too good for that bumbling fool
random headcanon: not a headcanon just a wish. she shouldve shaved her head during the haircut scene
general opinion- i like her! i think shes interesting. i wish theyd had her be played by the young mary actress tho (ofc samantha smith did amazing!! i just think it wouldve put stuff into perspective)

13x21 Coda
In the end, it’s Jody who stays.
They all take the two-day trek into the caves to retrieve the body. Any doubts Mary had about Sam being dead vanish when she sees her baby boy, bloody and marred beyond recognition. The vampires may have drained his fluids, but apparently something else decided to take his shoulders and ribs.
Dean carries him on the way back, refusing to let anyone else come near him quite some time. When he finally does let them approach the body, it’s to let the angels have a crack at resurrecting him. It’s out of the question for Castiel, though he gives it his best. The new one, Gabriel, is apparently too low on power for it to work – he can barely manage to make Sam’s leg kick, and it does nothing for the rest of his body.
Jack tries for days, never eating or sleeping or speaking to anyone. Once Dean takes the Nephilim aside and makes him realize there’s no bringing Sam back, he stops trying. But no one can stop him from draping himself over the body beside Dean, letting the blood and scent of death seep into his clothes. He cries every night, mourning the man who became his father and was taken from all of them too soon.
When they come back through the portal, they’re greeted by a redheaded witch who breaks at the sight of what’s left of Sam. The Bunker tremors at her wrath and her grief. She joins Jack and Dean in their silent, furious grief.
The wake is short, right outside the bunker. The only other people present, besides those of them who are already there, are a couple of Sam and Dean’s hunter friends. The sheriff who Mary met at Asa’s funeral, her hunting partner, and the gaggle of girls they seem to have adopted. Some of the people who helped eliminate the British Men of Letters from America. That handsome witch, the one who was Asa’s son.
Mary feels numb inside. She just looks on as the grizzled remnants of her baby go up in flames. Jody and Donna, and that strange redheaded witch have cried more than she has. Hell, Max and Jack and even Dean have cried more than she has. What kind of monster has she become, that her own son’s death can’t bring tears to her eyes?
Everyone clears out by the time Sam’s merely ashes, and not just the guests. Rowena takes a smidgen of the ashes and flees without a word. Jack is gone in the blink of an eye, giving her and Dean hugs that could rival Sam’s before he does. Gabriel and Castiel retreat to Heaven, and Dean can barely look the latter in the eye when he leaves. Mary might not know much, but she does know Castiel can count himself lucky that Dean didn’t grab his angel blade and skewer him for making them leave Sam behind.
Two months later, Dean’s gone too. Mary wakes up at 2 in the morning, to a call that tells her a Black 67 Chevy Impala was found wrapped around a telephone pole. She was listed as the Emergency Contact on the file of the driver, who was declared dead on arrival by the time the ambulance brought him to the hospital. She has another funeral, this time with just Jody and Donna and the girls. Mary’s alone in a world 30 years ahead of her. She woke up to a dead husband, and now both sons have gone before her.
Jody stays, though. They all stay and help her. Donna brings food to her bed on the days she can’t stand to get out of it. Jody forces her into the shower when she’s gone for days without bathing. Mary hates it, fights every second. She screams and shouts and throws things, before she finally breaks down and lets herself cry. Jody holds her through it, and Mary is thoroughly exhausted by the time she finishes.
Afterward, she isn’t happier, but she’s… better. She stays most days in the bunker library, poring over Sam’s notes. Learning about the sons whose lives she both died too early to witness and lived too long to see carried out. It’s not nearly enough. She has neither son at her side.
But she has someone.

SPN Rare Ship CC: Round 12 | @holyhael vs. @spnfanficcollection
Prompt: golden birthday
Ship: maryjody
Tags/Warnings: royalty/kingdom au, dancing, meet cute
Mary does not belong here, and she’s sure it’s obvious by the way her feet move and her hands go for the hors d’oeuvres. All around her, dashing women in glamorous dresses dance with ease, and the men accompanying them can’t help but stare adoringly. Chaperones, servants, and inexperienced people like Mary watch from the fringe of the ballroom.
Mary thought this would be fun, sneaking into the royal ball on her birthday with her best friend, but so far fun has eluded Mary. She feels silly in her mother’s old, golden wedding gown, the fanciest and most occasion-appropriate dress in their family. At least Nancy is having fun; it isn’t hard to miss her in her pink frock, twirling on the floor in the arms of a giant of a man. Mary summons a smile when Nancy’s eyes meet hers in the middle of a turn.
It’s the worst birthday of her nineteen year old life.
Mary’s feet are beginning to feel sore from standing in these infernal heels. She has half a mind to take them off so she doesn’t have to wear them any longer, but then she’d have to carry them around in her hand, which may invite unsavory looks. The orchestra’s lively jig comes to a close; some dance partners bow and part ways, but others remain together as the notes of the next song develop into a sweet melody.
There’s a tap on Mary’s shoulder. She turns around, startled.
Behind her stands a woman dressed in a powder blue gown that accentuates the curves of her body. Her hair is blonde and bouncy, and her eyes have a mischievous wink to them.
“Hey there,” the woman says, outstretching her hand, which Mary shakes warily. “My name’s Donna.”
“Mary.”
“Ooh, that’s a nice name. Tell ya what: my friend Jody over there -” Donna gestures over her shoulder with a thumb. Despite not being given any other clues, Mary knows who, in the crowd of attendees, Donna is referring to: the dark haired woman staring at them with a frantic, disbelieving expression. “She thinks you’re beautiful. Would you mind a dance with her?”
Mary looks between Donna and Jody, bewildered. “Um…”
“Come on!” Donna waves with her hand and turns around, and inexplicably Mary finds herself following the bubbly woman across the floor.
“Donna!” Jody hisses, glancing quickly between her friend and Mary. “What the fuck?”
“Live a little, Jodes!” exclaims Donna. She squeezes Mary and Jody simultaneously into one armed hugs. “Okay, you two. Have fun!” And with that, Donna flits away, leaving Mary and Jody alone together as the music reaches a crescendo.
They regard each other awkwardly. Jody’s dress is a deep but vibrant blue with yellow accents. Mary admires her short, dark hair and wishes she had the moxie to pull it off herself. She realizes that Jody is, in fact, very attractive, and she blushes.
“Sorry about her,” Jody says at last. “And please don’t call me Jodes. It’s just Jody”
“Noted,” Mary replies. After a beat, she realizes she aught to supply her own name. “I’m Mary.”
“Mary. Nice to meet you. Would you mind a dance?”
“Not at all,” Mary says, taking Jody’s hand. Maybe this birthday isn’t so bad after all.
