A cameo by Beth and Rio on the szn Finale!! Imagine!! I see the vision ! Thx so much for answering my question! I absolutely love the idea of the spin of being centered around sweet P’s . I actually would love to see a spin off centered around Diane! I thought she was such an interesting character. Have a great day 😊
(x)
Yes! So many cameos, and the chance for some really fun ones from Beth and Rio.
Diane would be great to have a spin-off around too (hell, they could be the same spin-off given she works at Sweet P's!) Good Girls really did always have a knack for creating great supporting characters, and I only wish we got to see more of them.
#less terrible annie love interests and more diane / mary pat / turner / jt#actually they could've solved part of that by making jt annie's love interest which they SHOULD HAVE thank you very much#i still think that was a missed opportunity they had such good chemistry#and i think similar motivations#that could've worked really well together#anyway#haha#gg asks#hope you have a great day too anon!#welcome to my ama#nbc good girls

The Year's Best Science Fiction, 12th Annual Collection
3.5 out of 5
A collection of twenty-three of 1994's best science fiction stories as selected by editor Gardner Dozois.
The book begins with Dozois' extensive summary of the year in science fiction and his concerns for the future of science fiction as a genre. Reading his 1994 observations in 2024, thirty years later, is both jarring and sad when you consider how many of the magazines mentioned no longer exist. I know most genre fiction (mystery, science fiction, fantasy in particular) go through moments where writers, critics, and anthologists are worried/predicting its destruction. I can remember hearing that worry in the late 1960s (science fiction), the 1970s (fantasy), and pretty much every decade for mystery. It never really happened, although there were always growing pains as the tropes changed. I've stopped worrying about it.
There's a fair mix of humor and angst, tragedy and farce within these pages, which I personally appreciate as it keeps the reading experience from becoming monotonous.
Contents
"Forgiveness Day" by Ursula K. Le Guin, 4 out of 5. "The Remoras" by Robert Reed, 4.5 out of 5. "Nekropolis" by Maureen F. McHugh, 3 out of 5. "Margin of Error" by Nancy Kress, 4.5 out of 5. "Cilia-of-Gold" by Stephen Baxter, 2.5 out of 5. "Going After Old Man Alabama" by William Sanders, 3.5 out of 5. "Melodies of the Heart" by Michael F. Flynn, 5 out of 5. "The Hole in the Hole" by Terry Bisson, 3.5 out of 5. "Paris in June" by Pat Cadigan, 2 out of 5. "Flowering Mandrake" by George Turner, 3 out of 5. "None So Blind" by Joe Haldeman, 3 out of 5. "Cocoon" by Greg Egan, 4 out of 5. "Seven Views of Olduvai Gorge" by Mike Resnick, 4.5 out of 5. "Dead Space for the Unexpected" by Geoff Ryman, 3 out of 5. "Cri de Coeur" by Michael Bishop, 3 out of 5. "The Sawing Boys" by Howard Waldrop, 2 out of 5. "The Matter of Seggri" by Ursula K. Le Guin, 4 out of 5. "Ylem" by Eliot Fintushel, 3 out of 5. "Asylum" by Katharine Kerr, 4.5 out of 5. "Red Elvis" by Walter Jon Williams, 3 out of 5. "California Dreamer" by Mary Rosenblum, 3 out of 5. "Split Light" by Lisa Goldenstein, 3 out of 5. "Les Fleurs du Mal" by Brian Stableford, 3 out of 5.
Some of my favorites include: "Margin of Error" which had a particularly satisfying revenge; "Melodies of the Heart" almost killed me emotionally; and "Asylum" which is frighteningly close to what we are facing in 2024.
A few of the stories disappointed me greatly, having such wonderful plots, terrific flow, and interesting characters, only to crash and burn the endings. No matter how great a story might be, if you can't stick the ending, it's all for nothing. Despite that, I'm still glad that I picked up this collection at the Friends of the Library store.

Obsessed with you 11
Part 1 | Part 2
Pairing: Benedict bridgerton x afab! reader
Synopsis: Ton's most eligible bachelor makes a move, oh dear ! An offer by the gentleman.
Warning: no description of reader, reader's last name is Rose for convenience ( used only twice ) internal conflict, mutual pinning but it's secret on reader's part, Benedict being an absolute tease, touchy Benedict, fluff and humour, reader's mother has some issues, resentment feelings for love, alcoholism ( blink and you miss it ) please read it !! ( No Polin, kathony in this chapter)
Dearest gentle readers,
This author believes desire to be a spectrum, and while longing, passion, lust and love are often known, i would ask, ' have you ever seen obsession ? ' it is rather very tempting.
It is not I, but the moon that basked in the sky last night who whispered, and i simply convey. There's been an offer made by the gentleman. Tempting, is it not ?
The next morning...
" How was your evening ? "
You coughed, grasping your throat as Mrs. Turner immediately patted your back, helping you with water.
Your mother's gaze was usually unfocused and clouded but even so, it was terrifying enough when she narrowed them at you.
" Fine." You said, feeling your chest burn, " It was very pleasant."
" That's amazing dearest." She turned back to her plate, untouched as it was, she hardly ate sometimes, you looked away, blinking.
" Ma'am, shall we expect any caller ? " Mrs. Turner asked your mother, but the question was solely directed to you.
" Indeed." Mama drank, her third glass of wine," she's very good girl." She added, raising her empty glass, her eyes stinging with moisteness.
" She is." Mrs. Turner smiled, you dropped your gaze back to your breakfast, staring hard. Oh god, what have you done ?
While waiting for a caller...
If Mrs. Turner noticed your panic, she said nothing and darkest part of you wondered if she was enjoying it actually.
" Your mother will be so disappointed if you have no caller today." Mary sighed, you winced internally, feeling sudden urge to just run and run until everything inside you crumbled and withered away.
" C'mon ! " Mary moaned, nudging you on your arm, "you're scaring me like that, say something."
" I don't know." You turned to her, pulling a straight face " suggest something lady Mariam." Mary groaned, you giggled, remembering how your sister used to, in every pain, in every nightmare.
Gissele joked all the times, her sharp wits and biting humour was something you always looked up at, you always wanted to be her because nothing touched her, she never cried, never baffled, her laughter still echoed sometimes in your head. But when night came and so did fear and darkness, on one such you tip tooed to her room, frozen at the soft sobs that were muffled by the pillow.
The jokes weren't funny anymore.
" Oh i wish—" whatever Mary wished was drowned by Mrs. Turner who entered the room with a undignified frown directed to you both , her eyes sharpening with unspoken disdain. Mary sat up straighter, abandoning her usual hunching and slouching.
" You have a caller miss." Mrs. Turner annouced, " Mr. Benedict bridgerton." She said, her mouth bitter with loathing.
You half registered her resentment before a shrilly strangled noise escaped your throat, mind swirling with last night memories that you were still not accepting to be true, you told Mary everything except the offer from the gentleman, or perhaps it wasn't a offer at all. A demand.
" Oh no." Mary gasped, you weren't sure if you had nodded or said anything but Mrs. Turner left, her mouth clasped close, brow knitted.
" What should I do ? " You bited your lip, panic settling, you remembered too well how bolting Benedict made you feel, the feel of his lips pressed against your skin. It was too endearing, a feeling that was too close to flying, soaring high but also to falling, down and down till there's nothing holding you but gravity, Benedict made you skip your heartbeats then become it's very muse.
" Be yourself. Didn't you say that to me ? "
Mary deadpanned, sensing your dread, she tried again,
" We can still run away, the window's open—" Mary stood upright, turning towards the fireplace when Benedict came. He was holding flowers, almost all kinds, his eyes twinkled as he raked his gaze upon you, smiling.
" Good morning, miss Rose." He bowed, at first to you, handling your flowers and you were gone the moment his fingers brushed against you, but it was then you realised there were two bouquets.
" Lady Mariam Turner." Benedict's smile grew wicked, you were sure to heard Mary mumbling something very blasphemous before she turned around, her face red.
" A very good morning, Mr. Bridgerton." She bowed, her eyes shut. You were paralyzed, feeling your skin still buzzing.
" C'mon, don't stand too much ladies, you might get tired." He purred, clapping his hand as he sat down next to you the couch, Mary and you shared a look before you sat back, she followed on the other one.
" Why did you come ? " You said, feeling your throat getting rigid, considering how Mary sighed, it was the worst possible thing to say to your caller, it didn't matter.
" Well, I was going to meet you mother and ask for your hand in marriage today but since she's sick and confined to her chambers, I shall do it tomorrow." You gaped at him, no matter how much you convinced yourself that it was just a dream, in no hell it could be now, his sincere eyes were most dazzling and despite the smirk that lit up his whole face, there was no ounce of humour.
" That's.." you shaked your head, don't think about his mouth, stop, stop, stop—
" Very kind." Mary was equally baffled, but you knew what a tease she would be to you later, if only you survived now.
" Thankyou lady Turner." Benedict smiled to her, bowing again, his teeths showing and Mary's ear blazed and she looked away, chortling under her breath.
" I am sorry about yesterday." You weren't sure how you could offended him but it didn't matter, you would be doomed if anyone knew of the lunacy you pulled last night.
Benedict deepened his gaze but said nothing, he slowly descended to your collarbone and heat crept up your spine. You shifted back, baffled at the tightening in your guts.
" I shall leave you to talking." Mary stood up, motioning towards the shelves and shelves of books.
" You don't read." You hissed at her, she sticked out her tongue tip and was gone, sparing few glances in between.
" I like her." Benedict said, you noticed that he was much closer. It surely wasn't a trick of your mind.
" Why are you doing this ? " You asked him, because you would be damned if it were another of his flirtings, another way to entertain himself. A frown crossed his jolly face and it didn't look like it belonged there.
" Forgive me if I had not made that clear." He said, his eyes softened when he looked at you, " I want to marry you." Oh.
No, no, you told yourself, didn't what Mrs. Turner said, he liked them of class, he has no honour when it comes to corrupt young ladies—
" You don't even know me." You said, voice small and frail.
" As much as I know you, you are kind, gentle and affectionate. Your beauty however is yet another muse of mine, i tried so hard, to trap you in canvas and colours but I couldn't do any justice, for you were simply ethereal in your own orbit. " He said, " but I would like to know all of you, every layer, every facade...you are the most extraordinary person i have ever met."
You wouldn't believe him, no matter how bright his eyes shine and how true every word feels, no, you wouldn't make the mistake Gissele made. Words, stupid words.
" We danced, only one time."
" It was enough." He reached out and kept his hand over yours, it was then your realised how badly your hands were trembling.
You didn't pull away, you knew how you would break down if you had to. You held onto him, not that you trusted him, no.
" Listen love, " love, He said it so softly, you were so doomed, " The moment our eyes locked I knew you had bewitched me, everything inside me longed for you...and..I knew it's silly but I thought i would die if I didn't see you again and when I did, I knew there was no life worth living it it's not with you."
" Those are just words." You looked away, instead focusing your eyes on Mary on the other end of the room, pretending to read a book, it was upside down.
" Yes, they are." He agreed, " so that's why I am here to make them actions, I fancy you so much that it sometimes scares—"
" Then don't, love shouldn't be scary." You remembered all those letters in Gissele's room, talking about love this, love that, ending with love you's, but what then ?
Benedict chuckled, like you weren't bashing him. he squeezed your hand gently. His fingers sliding through the dips of your knuckles, like moulded for each other. Stop.
" Love's not scary, it can be when you think about losing them, I was last night when I thought you wouldn't show up. That I would never see you again...no, I was terrified."
" You knew." You turned to him, he was practically hopping as he caught your gaze, every desire crawling out to you, screaming your name.
" I did." He confirmed, you raised your brow in question, " I would recognise you anywhere." He said simply and just like that you believed him.
You felt your face warming, heat shooting up in flames, Benedict seemed amused as his other hand, the one not making stars on your wrist came to caress your cheek. His lips parted when he felt your warmness, then he smiled, a knowing one.
" What if I nothing that you have assumed me to be ? " You weren't sure why you asked him that, perhaps it was the last letter you burnt before your elder sister could read it.
...Gis, this is not what we agreed on, this is not you, not the Gissele i knew. Please stop claiming it to be mine, we didn't even go that further, stop spreading these sour rumours that could filth my name...
" I adore all of you, every bit and every mole, i don't think there's any choice for me, it's just... there's no proof but you just know...I knew it, it's you, miss Rose. It was always going to be you."
You nodded, not sure if you could speak anything, feeling your heart thud louder and louder with each word that he spoke, every curve of his mouth and you could slowly feel time stoping.
That was the moment Mrs. Turner took to came, you yanked your hand back but Benedict wasn't much interested and his whine was quite visible.
" Mr. Bridgerton, Would you like lemon cakes, our cook is quite famous for it ? " Benedict looked at the refreshments that was left untouched except the biscuit that Mary nicked while on her way to 'reading' books upside down.
" As much I am very fond of it, i would have to say no. Me and miss Rose fancied a walk around the gardens."
Mrs. Turner looked accusingly at you and you shrugged, Benedict ignored all of that.
" Pleasant weather, is it not ? "
Mrs. Turner perched her lips, smiling that was mere curtsy. Oh god, what are you Benedict bridgerton ? Why are you so obsessed with me ?
By the secret gardens, with Mr. Bridgerton...
" Lady Mariam, alright ? " Benedict turned back to Mary who walked few steps behind you and him.
" Yes my Mr. Bridgerton." She said, slowing even more, she wasn't even trying to be good chaperone. Benedict praised her for it.
" That's my hand." You grasped your skirt before Benedict could hold it, for god sake, people were watching.
" Oops." Benedict apologised, not being sorry at all, his smile widening. You kept your eyes ahead.
" So would you say yes when I will propose ? " Benedict asked this, indirectly for the third time since the walk, he was rather good with words, he was also good at painting as much as you had heard and— stop, stop, stop.
" Haven't you already proposed ? " You stopped, he did too, cocking his head sideways.
" Yes indeed I have and I meant it." He admitted, " I was talking about the one where I am on my knees."
You weren't going to think about that, absolutely not, in no scandalous way. His thighs would look very erotic. Shit.
"No."
" You're lying." He scoffed. Yes you were, not that securing a proposal this season was your absolute ultimatum. Your mother wasn't cruel, she never was, but she was very paranoid and it was more crueler sometimes.
But marrying Benedict wouldn't be your escape or security, because you knew you would love him, whatever that was and if you could hate yourself for it then so it be.
The fate and destiny Benedict said, the way he just knew and who were you lying to ?
Didn't you touched him and got so electrified that you knew nothing would ever be same again, say it, go on. Lie, lie again but swear it if you didn't lock eyes with him and wished to just get lost and never be found. Wasn't it the night of the masquerade ball when you were truly alive for the first time in so long, giggling and free, dancing with your hands tied. Go on, lie.
" You wish." Benedict laughed on that, rich and beautiful and enough to make you hide your face as it went crimson.
" Lady—" he bagan to turn, you grabbed his elbow, jerking him to you, very unladylike.
" Stop teasing her." You leaned towards him and while you were in no position to talk about flustering but damn, Benedict was knocked out of his breath. You smiled, it was truly inevitable not to.
" I like to."
" Mean."
" That's very unladylike to insult your husband to be." Benedict said, recovering, all his smugness on full display. You let go of his arm, bending to take a pebble.
" Husband ? " You tossed a pebble off the lake, hoping to blame the rosiness that bloomed your cheeks on the sun.
" Yes wifey ? " Benedict ducked his head, like a puppy with stars in his eyes. He was so beautiful, why did he have to be like this ?
" Don't call me that." Please, very much call me that, it makes me blush, please, please.
" Then what should I call you ? " Benedict asked, before you could answer him, his arm grasped your waist, pulling you to him in a sudden moment. Wish you could say you immediately pulled away but that would be a lie. You melted in his embrace, eyes shut, a soft rhythmic music, it was his heart beats, you listened.
" Pebble." Benedict whispered down in your ear, you nodded once, pulling away hesitantly. He wasn't sure but let go of your elbow at last, his cheeks pink with blood.
" Should I call you Mrs.Bridgerton ? "
" Aren't there going to be three Mrs. Bridgertons ? "
Benedict bumped your nose on that, laughing while you frowned. He ought to stop touching you before you do something awfully stupid.
.... you're not stupid Gissele...
" Well ofcourse, yes. I see you're stalking me." Benedict winked, you eye rolled, something inside you shivering, a knot in your stomach loosening.
" Everyone knows that."
" Hmmph." Benedict hummed, " but you ought to know more wifey."
" Ofcourse Husband." You tried and was rewarded with Benedict missing a step, he smiled, a lopsided grin, recovering soon he turned to you.
" I wished to make you a wedding gift."
You knew he didn't even made a formal proposal to your mother but even so every word felt truer than life, for once you let go of what would happen, if he would break your heart then so be it, if you die bleeding then let it be that way, but you want to be alive, for once, just be alive.
" That's very kind of you."
Benedict tucked a strand of hair behind your hair, smiling his brightest smile.
You looked back at Mary who grinned back with a dangerous glint in her eyes.
" Obsessed." She mouthed, you shaked your head, smiling to yourself, very well.
Rigel's note 🪩 : I hope it was good, I am bit struck in life :( also can anyone make a banner, please ? Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

In October 1914, I found myself in Birmingham. The train came to a halt on the platform, and as it did, a person in brown hastily disembarked from the car. I scanned my surroundings cautiously. The platform lay in dimly lit solitude, the air was chilly, so I draped my half-worn cashmere coat around me and hastened forward, my gaze fixed ahead. My hope was to secure a job in Birmingham that would sustain me, putting an end to my northward travels. My intention was to find a place to rest and recuperate for a while before seeking employment. With all the men away at war, the factories surely lacked labor. Ideally, it would be an office job, but upon arriving at a hotel, I discovered a hole had been cut into my wallet, and the coins inside had vanished. The gaping gash, created by a blade, danced in Birmingham's cold breeze, taunting me. The innkeeper's eyes spoke volumes; he clearly regarded me with suspicion, assuming I had ulterior motives. Over the past two weeks of fleeing, I had endured much hardship.
The injustices I'd encountered, unlike any I'd known in the past 15 years, left the Baroness in a melancholic state. I had wanted to unleash my anger, to scold the innkeeper, but considering my current predicament, discretion was the better part of valor. I couldn't risk leaving a lasting impression that might lead to my being taken back to London. So, I swallowed the sharp retort on the tip of my tongue, turned on my heel, and exited with my head held high. It wasn't until I was out of the innkeeper's view that I crouched down on the street, wrapped my arms around my knees, and wept. If my father were still alive, this would never have happened! He had aspired to marry his little princess into No. 10 Downing Street. The memory of Nurse Claire and Sister Mary helping me pack on that night remained vivid. The wet nurse had packed my luggage with nearly all the jewelry and coins I could carry. My pregnant sister Mary had suffered at the hands of her child's father, my illegitimate brother, for concealing my whereabouts. I'll never forget how Nurse Claire clung to me in tears inside the dark closet, preventing me from rushing out. We had held each other in silence while Sister Mary's voice faded into the distance. I would never forget the sight of the bloodstains on the marble floor of Turner House as we hastily departed. Shards of shattered glass glistened under the crystal lamp's glow. We had left in a hurry amid my sister's screams, and Nurse Claire had personally escorted me onto the northbound train. Despite my pleading, she had refused to accompany me, choosing to stay in London. Her brown eyes had been brimming with tears as she'd said, "Live well, miss, live well..." The gnawing hunger in my stomach pulled me from my reverie. I needed to survive, for the honor of Baroness Turner, for Nurse Claire and Sister Mary. Only through survival could I have a future. I wiped away my tears and, after patting myself down, retrieved three chocolate pieces wrapped in gold foil. It was a humble brand available at malls. In the past, we had imported Swiss and Belgian confections, and I wouldn't have touched this variety. But now, with not a penny to my name, I welcomed it gladly. As I unwrapped the chocolate, ready to take my first bite, I noticed a young boy sitting across the street, about the age of my brother, his blue eyes locked onto me and the chocolate coin in my hand. We shared a prolonged gaze from across the street. He was a child, and I, in my desperation, was acting rather childishly myself. Eventually, I made my way over, suitcase in tow, and sat beside him, offering him the unopened chocolates. My intuition told me he was a runaway. To run away at a time like this, he must have been loved and cared for at home. Perhaps he was the little angel I needed to escape my troubles. He accepted the chocolates but seemed in no hurry to open them. I paid him no mind as my hunger overtook me, devouring the chocolate in my hand. "What's this?" he asked softly, eyeing me as I ate. "Chocolate," I replied honestly. "You're lying. The chocolate here doesn't look like that," he retorted, still fixated on the chocolate in his hand. True, even though it was a cheap brand, the glittering wrapping paper had an irresistible allure to children, not to mention the delicious chocolate within. "But this is how they make chocolate in London," I shrugged. "I've tasted better ones, from Switzerland and Belgium. The French are skilled in making chocolate desserts too. We used to have a French chef at home, and his desserts were exquisite." The boy's interest grew with each word I spoke. It was a promising start. "So, can I come to your house?" I feigned regret, "I'm afraid not. We had to let that chef go." The boy's bright blue eyes dimmed at my response, but I quickly added, "But I did learn a few dessert recipes from him. If there's a kitchen, I can make some for you." After some internal struggle, the boy finally stood up, took my hand, and led me to a busier street.

Sliding Into Home Master List Main Masterlist
The bus ride from Camden Yards to the hotel is a quiet one. Frank sat next to Johnny, who was almost deathly still. He never said a word as he walked off, the Boston players running onto the field. The locker room was quiet, showers and dressing done without a word to each other. They gathered their belongings, made sure the uniforms were placed in the bins for the support staff to clean and walked onto the bus.
The Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, walked to the front after the team had pulled into the hotel. “Men, we’ll have a debrief in the morning. This is just how the game goes. I don’t blame anyone, and you shouldn’t either. They just had magic tonight. Get some sleep. We’ll meet at 9 AM and the flight is at noon.”
Dave patted each player as they exited. Their families were waiting for them, lined in their gear, solemn and quiet. Frank sees Abby and Katie standing together, Mary in Scott’s arms, Marco wrapped around Susie. Frank blocks Johnny’s exit, allowing the rest of the team to exit. “You know it wasn’t your fault.”
“I know.”
“Do you? Torch, Turner is a beast at bat. There was a 50/50 chance he was going to connect. It could have been anyone.”
“But it was me. I let the team down, the city down, fuck, even my girlfriend and family.”
“Johnny, no one is going to see it that way.”
Johnny leaned back against his seat. “I knew going for my heater was a bad idea. But he missed it the first time. “
“You can’t beat yourself up with what ifs. Let’s get you to your girl and she can give you sympathy sex. It's better than victory sex sometimes.” Frank got up and got off the bus.
“Hey Frank,” he turned back to Johnny. “Thanks.”
“It’s what best friends are for.” Frank climbed down and Mary immediately ran into his arms. He held her tight as he felt her cry a little bit. “You ok Nugget?”
Mary leaned back. “Shouldn't I be asking you that?”
Frank shrugged. “Probably but I think he needs this hug more than me.” He looked back at Johnny who was just now getting off the bus. Mary ran to him and jumped up for a hug. Johnny’s reaction time was quick as he dropped his bag in time to catch her. Frank walked over to Abby and Katie.
“Is he ok?” Katie’s lower lip trembled.
“He’ll be ok. Just needs some time and a few hugs.” Frank kissed her cheek. “Take care of him.”
She nodded and walked over to Johnny and Mary. Frank turned back to his wife. “I’m sorry I couldn’t bring the trophy home like i promised.”
Abby shrugged. “Guess you’ll have to make it up to me another way.” She reached up on her tiptoes. “I am so unbelievably proud of you Frank Adler. You played your best and that’s all that matters.” She kissed him softly as he wrapped his arms around her.
“Can I take you to bed Cricket? Lose myself inside you?”
She gave him a soft smile. “Always Frankie.”
After greeting everyone else and heading up to the rooms, Frank watched his wife get ready for bed. She carefully brushed out her hair and removed her jewelry before taking off the jersey with his name on the back. She stripped out of the leggings and was just in her bra and panties. He could see that she was studying herself in the mirror when Frank saw it. He got up and walked behind her. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Tell you what?” She looked back at him confused.
“Oh sweetheart.” He placed his warm hands around her middle. Framing the slight swell of her belly. “Here is our baby.”
Abby stared at the mirror. The belly wasn’t there this morning. “It’s our baby.”
“I don’t care that I lost. I won everything I ever wanted.” He moved her hair to the side so he could kiss her neck. He let his fingers skate over his sensitive skin as he kissed and licked the spot behind her ear. “You are the most beautiful woman. Strong and amazing, growing my baby.” He dipped his hand inside her panties, eliciting a moan from his wife. “Shh, Cricket. Hmm, so wet love.”
“Frankie, please don’t tease,” Abby whimpered.
He let his finger slip in and moved slowly back and forth, listening to his wife mewl at the sensations. “Do you still love me even if I didn’t win?”
“Of course...shit... fuck,” Abby stuttered as Frank added another finger. She gripped his forearms to keep from falling. He was wrecking her, a little at a time.
“C’mon Cricket, use your words,” Frank gently taunted. “Be a good girl for me.”
“I love you, Frankie,” she breathed out. “So proud of you making it this far.”
“Good girl,” he whispered in her ear as he pressed down on her sensitive clit. Abby almost doubled over but Frank held her to his chest.
“Frankie, please,” she begged. He scooped her up and placed her on the bed. He undid the bra and threw it across the room. He pulled down her panties and held them to his nose, inhaling the scent. Abby almost cummed at the motion and let out a whimper.
“What should it be Cricket? Should I taste you first or should I just fuck you until you can’t walk anymore?” Frank slotted in between her legs, his erection straining in his boxer briefs.
“I... I...”
“Ok then,” Frank sighed. He stood up and removed his boxers, his cock bobbing up. “Dealer’s choice it is.” He climbs next to Abby and turned her to the side. He lifted her leg to curl around his hip to open her. “I don’t want to hurt Peanut, but I also don’t want to take you hard Cricket,” he told her gently. He gripped his cock and teased between her legs, notching at her clit.
“Frankie, I can’t... please.”
“Anything for you Cricket.” He slid slowly, stretching her open slowly. From this angle, she could feel everything and her back bowed. He wrapped his arms around her to keep her close. “Talk to me Cricket.”
“So deep Frankie, I can feel you everywhere.”
“God, you feel so good Cricket. My beautiful girl.” He rocked his hips, sliding in and out. He took his time, skating his fingers over her skin, gently pinching her nipples. Her breathing changed and he knew she was getting close. “Ready to come for me Cricket?” She nodded against his chest. “Come baby, you know that my good girl always goes first.”
Frank lowered a hand to her clit and rubbed gently. The sensations were like lighting up her body.
“Frankie,” she cried as her head tossed back onto his chest and the world imploded, blinding her in white light.
‘Fuck Cricket, so tight, so good, fuck,’ as he followed her into space, losing himself in the stars he sees in his eyes. He slowed, and stopped, staying inside her. He could feel water land on his arm. ‘Cricket?’
‘I’m sorry, Frankie. I just... I wish you had won and,’ she sucked in a breath, ‘and you were happy and then we did this and it feels so good and I don’t deserve you and...”
“Whoa, baby, stop.” Frank gently slipped out and turned Abby to face him. “Cricket, its one World Series. Hopefully there will be others.” He wiped the tears falling. “My Cricket, the hormones getting to you?” She nodded and he chuckled. “Everything is going to be ok. Sleep sweetheart.” He adjusted her so she slept on his chest. He loved that she was so passionate about his career. But now is time for him to focus on her and Peanut.
Six weeks later...
Frank ran into the clinic, running late from an endorsement meeting. “Hi, sorry, I’m looking for Abigail Adler?”
“We just took her back. Follow me,” a nurse said, buzzing him through the door. Frank pulled off his coat, the beginning of December bringing a cold front in. The nurse knocked and waited for acknowledgement before opening the door. Sitting on the exam table was a very unhappy, pregnant Abby with her arms crossed.
“Cricket, I am so sorry.” Frank went to her side. “The meeting ran long and then I got caught in the school traffic and I'm sorry.”
“I told you I could have rescheduled to avoid this, Frankie." Abby huffed as she turned her head away from him.
“I know Cricket. But you were so excited to see the baby and find out the gender and everything and I didn’t want you to miss it.” Frank uses his finger to make Abby look at him. “I’m sorry.”
“Are you excited?” she asked in a small voice
“Are you kidding?” Frank kissed her nose. “Steve said I was giving off excited vibrations today and it was driving him nuts.”
“Hello, hello,” the doctor came in. “Mr. And Dr. Adler, nice to see you again.”
“Hey Dr. Montgomery,” Frank said. “How’s it going?”
“Busy, as always but I know we are excited today to see, what was it you called your baby again Frank?”
“Look, that is not my best moment,” Frank said. “We call baby Peanut now.”
Dr. Montgomery and Abby laughed as Frank blushed slightly. “Well, let’s take a look at Peanut. Abby, shirt under your breast and pants slightly down. This will be cold.” She squirted some gel and grabbed the wand. “Do we want to know the gender?”
“We do. We have our last team dinner of the year tonight,” Frank said. Gonna do a gender reveal.”
“Sounds fun. Is someone planning the surprise for you?”
“Yeah, Susie and Katie are waiting for us to hand it over,” Abby explained.
“Alright so no pronouns.” Dr. Montgomery moved the wand around. “Well, here is Peanut,” she said. “Just taking some measurements but they are looking perfect. Right size and weight for 21 weeks. Here is their head and it looks like they are sucking on a thumb.”
Frank and Abby grinned at each other as Dr. Montgomery flipped on the audio. Their baby’s heart beat was loud and rapid. “Whoa,” Frank said. “I’m still not used to that. It's so fast.”
“Yeah, in the womb, the baby's heart is pumping so fast because the blood circulates quickly,” Dr. Montgomery explains. “But everything looks good. Abby, your weight is good, and your levels are great. I’ll print some pictures for you and put the gender into an envelope.” She handed a towel to Abby. “I want to see you in four weeks.”
“Thanks Doc,” Frank said.
“I was sorry to see you lose the World Series Frank, but I know, next year is our year.” She patted his back. “See you guys later.”
Frank took Abby’s hand, and they picked up the envelope and pictures. “Peanut is cute, just like their mama.”
“Shut up Frankie,” she replied with a smile. “Ready for the dinner?”
“Yeah, Phelps and Roberts said they have a couple of year end announcements and then just the dinner.”
“Well, I have to head back to the office,” Abby said. “I’ll see you at home?”
“Yeah, Nugget and I are gonna work on the nursery. Scott said they delivered the crib and dresser.”
“What color?”
“What part of surprise did you not understand Cricket?” A couple of weeks after the season ended, Frank asked Abby if he could decorate and set up the nursery. He had promised that it would be gender neutral.
Abby pouted. “Fine. I love you.”
“Love you too Cricket.”
A couple of hours later, Frank was getting Mary ready to go when he called up the stairs. “Cricket! We’re gonna be late!”
“Patience is a virtue,” she called back down.
“Not right now, it isn’t.”
“Alright, alright!” She walked down the stairs and Frank stopped. You know that saying that women glow when they are pregnant? Frank understood that saying now. Abby glowed as she walked toward in a cream colored sweater dress and brown boots. Her bump was on display, her hair was in her curls and just held back with a cream headband.
“Wow,” Frank breathed. “Cricket, you look beautiful.”
Abby blushed. “Thanks Frankie.” He helped her into her coat, and they headed to the restaurant.
The dinner was fun, the last time the team would together until spring training. Some may leave and some retire. As desert was being prepared, Todd Phelps and Dave Roberts stood in the middle of the room. It falls silent as Todd raises his hand.
“Alright team, it was a heartbreaking end to the season. But it has been one of the best seasons the Dodgers have ever had.” Applause breaks out around the room. “Not only did we have two Golden Glove winners in Storm and Betts, we also have our league MVP and golden Glove winner, Frank Adler.” More applause and cheers for Frank, who flushed from the attention.
“We are so proud of this team,” Dave continued. “We know that there may be some changes that could happen. But there are a couple of things we are certain off, our captains for next year. We have four men that we are bestowing this honor to. Mookie Betts, Will Smith, Johnny Storm and Frank Adler.”
Frank sat stunned as Mary jumped in his lap and Abby kissed his cheek. Johnny looked blankly as Katie cheered and hugged him.
“Johnny,” Dave says, “I know you think the loss was your fault, but it wasn’t. Management does not blame you, the team doesn’t blame you. You have been a professional, sitting through media, taking blame that wasn’t yours. That’s the kind of leadership we are looking for in our organization and the perfect example we want to set.”
The team cheered and congratulated their new captains as Katie and Susie set up the gender reveal. Katie whistled to get everyone’s attention again. “We have one more surprise to finish. Mr. And Mrs. Alder, Miss Mary, we need you up here.” The family moved to the front. An elaborate box was set up with a string to open it. “On the count of three, pull the string and we’ll find out if we a boy or a girl joining our Dodger family. Ready?”
The whole room joined the count down.
“THREE!”
“TWO!”
“ONE!”
Oh, you thought I wouldn't give one more cliffhanger? See you for the finale!

Would you be into a good girls spin off? If so what would you like to see in the spin off? Would yuu like it to focus on a certain character or all new cast? What are your thoughts?
Yeah, I think I would be! I don't mind a spin off (I certainly infinitely prefer them to reboots generally speaking) and I do think one of Good Girls' strengths was in creating and casting really strong, fun supporting characters that teased out broader storyworlds or created more texture in the main one - Turner, Mary Pat, Mick, Nancy, Diane, Amber, hell, even Nick, Fitzpatrick and Gail all were great examples of this.
I tend to think spin offs work best when they seek to expand on themes from their parent program but also create distance from the original show whether that be through setting, time period or characters. Better Call Saul did this brilliantly of course, utilising all three to hone in on Jimmy while also telling a story that felt both unique and intrinsically connected to Breaking Bad.
In that sense, I actually kind of think the best spin off for Good Girls would be a Sweet P's spin off. I think you could probably steep it in the not too distant future with Beth and Rio moving the operation out of the club (maybe they're on the move, which was Rio's earlier modus operandi) and the women who work there being left with the aftermath and maybe a new taste for crime.
Good Girls was always at its best when it leant into the way women couldn't beat the system - whether that be due to the way the cost of healthcare means a mother's told to watch her daughter die, or how income can dictate parental rights, or how the lack of social services to enable class mobility means women get trapped in cycles of poverty or trapped in transactional marriages because they can't survive on their own - and to focus on a highly gendered setting like Sweet P's offers the chance to deepen the exploration of that.
If Good Girls was about the invisibility of women, a show about women in Sweet P's could maybe focus on a specific type of visibility and what that means in a system that condemns any and all forms of sex work.
Plus I feel like any show set in the Sweet P's world could lead to some very fun cameos from all our faves, including the girls, and hell, we might even get to see someone finally kill Boomer, haha.
#i think one set around the quick cash loan place jt works at too could be really interesting#especially because you're looking at the diversity of the people who need loans like that#(hell#i've needed them before)#and i feel like it lends itself really well to crime too just by nature of what it is#anyway what would you like to see?#this was such a fun question anon and now i want to know what spin offs other people want haha#nbc good girls#welcome to my ama#gg asks

What are the wildest/craziest headcanons you've read or heard about the show? My friend who loves the show likes to come up with crazy ones just to make me laugh, but she is convinced that Mary Pat goes crazy, kills her kids, then kills herself and that's why she basically just disappears from the show, which makes Turner's investigation have even less merit after Boomer is found to be alive, so they shut down his case, but he goes rogue and keeps Rio in a hotel room to work the case by himself without FBI approval 🙃 Another one she is convinced of is that Rio and Turner were definitely hooking up in that hotel room and that grocery bag Turner walks in with has lube and condoms in it 😂 She is very imaginative lmaooo
Anon!!! I wanna read a fic about Rio and Turner hooking up in that hotel room!!! Oh man, there was also one I read where Turner and Beth were hooking up while Rio was in that hotel room. Does anyone remember what that one’s called?
Also, after reading Need to See a Guy About a Thing by Littleengine, I now wonder if Rio has (or would get) a genital or nipple piercing. I kinda want him to get them! (Also, this fic isn’t at all about 🍆 piercings. It’s barely mentioned. I just got fixated. 😂)
I saw one somewhere that said Jane killed Buddy and the Bolands just never speak of it. Jane gets a disproportionate amount of attention in the fandom compared to the rest of the Boland kids. I wonder why. 🤔
I’ll have to think about this ask some more. I’m sure this fandom is full of wild imagination. 😂

Mário Costa Quartet - Chromosome
In the very beginning of 2023, it is time for Mário Costa’s sophomore take on his more personal and authorial project. The new album is titled Chromossome, named after Costa’s rigorous and custom-made writing, considering the DNA of each one of the musicians that he carefully handpicked for the project. Listening to Chromossome it is easy to be enticed by that acute detail of compositions thought as a means to explore each performer’s qualities, enhancing the genius of these captivating and staggering nine tracks. If we keep in mind that Cuong Vu’s trumpet can be found in Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, David Bowie or Laurie Anderson’s projects, that Bruno Chevillon’s double bass is an habitué in bands lead by Louis Sclavis, Michel Portal or Daniel Humair, and that Benoît Delbecq’s piano has found its way into the music of such diverse protagonists as Evan Parker, Mark Turner or Mary Halvorson, we may get a pale idea of the musical gathering that is taking place here. But only a pale idea because the music that is born out of this four brilliant and very different personalities is greater than the sum of its parts. Each track that Mário Costa offers his accomplices feels like a red carpet for them to explore on, creating the ideal context for a miraculous musical response. And having said that, it is still so little a description. Only music can truly speak for the bewilderment and the creativity outburst that unfolds from Chromossome. Mário Costa - drums, electronics & composition Cuong Vu - trumpet Benoît Delbecq - piano, synths & samplers Bruno Chevillon - doublebass
