I don't see enough people talking about the potential of Maru x Penny as a ship. Penny venting about how everyone thinks she's going to settle down and be a mother and just keep taking care of kids forever, when really she wants to explore the world and see new places and be more than just a housewife. Maru venting about how everyone thinks she's going to spend her entire life focusing on her career and money, when really she wants a partner and maybe even a family someday instead of just living and breathing her work. They're both experiencing the complexities of being a woman in two polar opposite ways. Penny feels like everyone walks all over her, Maru feels like people are putting her on a pedestal, and they both hate how drastic their places in society are. Then they meet and they start talking, and they start to hope that together, they can find a comfortable middle ground. Penny can give Maru that soft, loving safe space where she doesn't have to be a genius, she can just rest in Penny's arms and wake up the next day to go to her dream job that makes them plenty of money to live comfortably and travel everywhere Penny wants. Maybe in their thirties, they adopt a kid, or they decide to just have a dog, or maybe they decide they're happy on their own. Either way, they feel free of expectations together and are completely and utterly in love

And Abigail likes Penny and Maru cause at first it was help with homework (Penny is such an easy mark to cheat off of, and Maru was Sebastian's half sister so also easy access) and then all 3 of them have an identity crisis of "oh no, I like 2 people, and they're BOTH GIRLS" but then they all meet up and do that awkward confession where one person was going to but the others started as well and its really silly except Abigail was just louder so as Penny and Maru were like "no you can go first" girl was just like "Y'ALL HOT A.F."

I AM A MARU X PENNY GIRLIE

The first time I ever saw them hanging out on their bench, I giggled to myself and thought “Gay.” That day, a Maru x Penny shipper was born.

I remember Penny and Maru being characters I wasn’t very interested in but still smiling to myself every time I saw them together. I still have a screenshot I took of them sitting together as if to validate my shipping LMAO.

Anyways I think it would be so cute for Maru to constantly talk about all her interests and knowledge with Penny while Penny listens, weighing in every now and then. Afterwards, I could imagine Penny running to the library and assembling all of the books on whatever topic Maru was talking about and just studying them all before teaching them to Jas and Vincent the next day.
