UNIQUE BRIDAL BEAUTY SALON
INTRODUCTION
Beauty is the gift of God, and it is transmitted from one generation to another generation.Beauty parlors are especially modern now, but they had a long and rich history in the nineteenth century.
Beauty parlors are in need of every man, child, and woman for their beauty favors. But historically, women have always used natural beauty products, and that has led to the beginning of new business in the beauty industry.
DEFINITION OF BEAUTY SALONS
A beauty parlor is an establishment of a department where hairdressing, facials, manicures, and pedicures are done. It is a place where people go to have beauty treatments.
History of Beautiful Salons
The first salon was introduced by Martha Matilda Harper, a young Canadian woman. She brought her hair tonic formula, and she created her own shampoo in a shed, and she saved her money until she had enough to open a salon in 1888. This salon was known as Harper Method Shop.
Her floor-length hair helps to market her signature shampoo. After that, she opened a beauty parlor to sell more beauty products like creams, makeup items, etc.
The outward appearance of a person is the first thing that catches everyone's eye. Therefore, in presentable conditions, we consider the importance of beauty parlors. There was a beauty therapist who helped with the various beauty treatments on a person to overall improve their beauty appearance. Which is dressing up clearly, putting on the on the correct makeup, hairstyle, and everything. Sometimes everyone’s need to a balanced diet and exercise, nutrition, etc. are the concepts of a healthy lifestyle of everyone.
BACKGROUND
Only healthy women have been using various beauty products for centuries, like powdering their faces with flour, turmeric, curd, etc. Nowadays, so many women and men use these items for their faces. In that time, crushed berries are used for their lipstick. Beauty parlor cosmetics were used not only for beauty concepts but also for religious and spiritual purposes. After that the formation of beauty parlors led to the formation of modern beauty parlors. In the 20th century, Hollywood influence led to the beauty concepts to men and women in makeup, skincare, and hairstyling. As a result of the formation of modern beauty salons.
JOURNEY OF BEAUTY SALONS
Beauty concepts are coming from the EGYPT and ROME. The use of beauty parlors is also called beauty salons. Every person needs to enhance their look, and they need a solution for their problems. Even though they get the better solution, that is beauty salons. Parlors are gradually becoming a part of our daily lives and culture. Even in Rome, public baths were famous for their beauty and grooming lifestyle in the past.
However, the beauty parlor offers new services for fundamental lifestyles. When the people go to the parlor and they enjoy that climate and the solutions to their problems, they accept the parlor ideas. But things changed with the movement of time, and the beauty industry also changed with the time; cosmetics and machines also changed. Also, the parlor started the treatments like facials, manicures and pedicures, hair coloring and straightening, etc.
If you look in the present, every beauty salon has that type of treatment. If the present beauty demands increase, people always increase their beauty concepts. This has led to an increase in beauty schools, and beauty parlor treatments also increased. So people like to go to the parlors and enjoy every treatment, and they find time in their daily lives for their beauty problems. Beauty parlors increased their beauty boosting, and they led to a slight growth of our beauty outside.
BEAUTY TREATMENTS
Beauty salons that establish to provide cosmetic treatments for every person. Hair cuts are generally seen in every beauty salon. Salons offer the benefits to the skin beauty to use the beauty products and increase body wellness.
Hair removal is offered in beauty salons, like threading and waxing.
These salons also give treatments like hair styling and coloring.
De tan is the treatment to increase the level of sunlight that gives the tanning problems for everyone's face.
Facial is another popular beauty treatment for the face. So many treatments are available to the facials, like Hydra facials, Gold facials, Diamond facials, Papaya facials, and so many facials are available.
Manicure and pedicure are the treatments for hand and foot. Then they are the treatments to develop the actual look of the hand and foot.
These treatments also help enhance your actual look and increase your beauty confidence. If you find time for your healthy and wealthy body, then you will find out the change in your body. Food, water, and other nutrition are important to your body, and also beauty care is the other important one in your body. Actually, in the past, beauty treatment products were used as the base of natural products. So they do not use chemical products, but nowadays beauty ideas lead to the increasing level of chemical products. So no one knows what amount of chemical products are safe in their body and face. So they consult the better beauty parlors, and they use the chemical treatment or trust the parlor treatments.
Good beauty parlors and trained workers give a better solution for every problem. So everyone's needs better treatments for their beautiful bodies. No one knows which products are better for their skin and hair problems. No one is consulting a doctor for their problems. No one knows which treatment gives the better solution and which beauty salon is the better choice for their solutions.

MARTHA MATILDA HARPER // BUSINESSWOMAN
“She was an American businesswoman, entrepreneur, and inventor who launched modern retail franchising and then built an international network of 500 franchised hair salons that emphasized healthy hair care. Born in Canada, Harper was sent away by her father when she was seven to work as a domestic servant. She worked in that profession for 25 years before she saved enough money to start working full-time producing a hair tonic she invented. The product, and the creation of special hair salons that utilized it, was successful. Harper began franchising the salon model to low-income women, and by its peak the company included more than 500 franchises and an entire line of hair care products.”

From the episode In the Company of Woman (one of my fav episodes last season), we had the female entrepreneur Martha Matilda Harper.
Martha Matilda Harper was born in Oakville, Ontario. The recorded year of birth conflicts as either 1857 or 1868, most likely so that Harper could appear younger. When she was young, she didn’t have a formal education and moved to Rochester, New York to work as a domestic servant.
While in New York, she started work on her hair tonic (shampoo). Harper had floor-long hair that she used to promote the use of her hair tonics. She opened her first beauty office in 1888, Harper Method Shop which was a combination of beauty parlour and factory. She opened her franchise in Buffalo, New York in 1891 and was able to open in Chicago the following year. Her first Canadian factory was in Niagara Falls in 1921.
She married Robert Arthur MacBain in 1920.
Her company was called President Martha Matilda Harper, Inc.
Her products included hair preparations, creams and make up, permanent wave and hair colouring products.
She also opened beauty training schools in Rochester, Atlanta, Madison, and Alberta.
Her philosophy was that beauty was based in good health and every person was beautiful.
Her clients included Woodrow Wilson, Susan B Anthony, Calvin Coolidge, and Jacky Kennedy.

What if Kate and Bruce were born around the same time? What if the tragedies that made them the heroes they become, also happened around the same time? What if the two of them ended up living together? What if the two of them ended up as huge theater nerds? What if they had some actual healthy coping mechanisms along side their totally not super unhealthy vigilante detective hobby that nearly kills them on a weekly basis? What if everything wasn't a shitty cheap ass drama show written by racist, misogynist, homophobic, all the bad ism's and phobia's and ist's?
(No disrespect to the individuals who try to give us good diverse content. Actually, all the respect because DC as whole is a weak dumb ass bitch and kudos to those people for tolerating that bastard.)
Here is my sad, pathetic attempt to fix the DC universe that I am very much under qualified and under prepared for. Enjoy. (And I'll get to finishing the relationship tags soon, it's just not on the agenda right about now. There is just so many fucking characters. The character tags are technically unfinished because that won't be all of the characters showing up. Do I really hate myself and DC that much?)

Did you know that the roots of franchising can be traced back to the entrepreneurial spirit of Martha Matilda Harper, an American businesswoman, and inventor who launched modern retail franchising in 1891? Harper began franchising her beauty salon model and grew it to have more...

Harper also established beauty training schools in a number of cities, including Rochester, Atlanta (Georgia), Madison (Wisconsin) and Calgary (Alberta, Canada). Her philosophy included a belief that beauty was based in good health, and that every person was beautiful. Her products were all organic.

Hey everyone! Apologies for the long pause between bios. Despite The Trail of Terence Myers being a clip show, we get a lot of cool historical characters, Henri Bourssa, Clifford Sifton, and Armand Lavergne. In the next couple of days I’ll write those two and about Martha Matilda Harper from In the Company of Woman, but first, Henri Bourassa.
Henri Bourassa was a Canadian politician in the late 19th to early 20th century. He was born on September 1, 1868. His ancestors were very influential politicians before him and he taught himself all he needed to know to become the politician he was known as. Bourassa was influenced by Louis Riel and the Metis fight in the west, outraged that Riel was hanged. He became the mayor in Montebello, Labelle County, Quebec and moved up to be MP of the same county.
Around this time, the Second Boer War was happening and Canada was torn whether to go fight with Britain. Bourassa resigned from his position in the House of Commons in protest, but later was reelected. He was very against Canada being included in war, which lead to him rallying against Laurier and in the end resulted in the election of Borden who lead Canada into World War I and the conscription that followed.
He and Laurier worked together to make divide Alberta and Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. In 1905 he got in a bit of trouble in part of the problem of establishing education system in the new provinces. He spoke out against the immigration policy until the end of his term in 1907.
In 1910, he founded the French-language newspaper Le Devoir for which he is the most remembered for.
He died the day before his 84th birthday on August 31, 1952.

The naming game
It's pretty evident that we've chosen our little girls name, and I'm hoping and praying that she looks like a Betsy but I couldn't imagine her having another name.
This blog post is a fun one listing all the baby names we had for Betsy. Some of them Jake did not agree with or wouldn't even consider but I absolutely adore all of these names! Slightly sad that I can't use one of them but as sad as it makes me, I do love her chosen name, Betsy Matilda.
So here is our list. Some will have explanations underneath as to why we like it or why we didn't choose it. I'm not going to put Betsy on the list, because it's pretty evident we like the name & we chose it for that reason! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
1. Matilda
Now this name has always been a firm favourite of mine, hence why it's her middle name. But after knowing friends call their child Matilda and working with children, it has become such a popular name so this is why it isn't her first name.
2. Martha
Again, I absolutely love this name but unfortunately Jake didn't. All he kept saying was Martha-Sleep and in our accent it sounds like "I'm half asleep" so that one was completely ruled out. Boo!
3. Scarlett
4. Isla
5. Daisy
6. Florence
As you can probably guess, I love old fashioned names and traditionalism. Unfortunately Florence Shelley didn't have a ring to it.
7. Elsie
8. Lola
9. Ivy
10. Darcie
11. Heidi
12. Harper
Our good friends beat us to the gorgeous name Harper! Loved this since the Beckhams used it.
13. Nancy
14. Penelope
15. Iris
16. Felicity
17. Ayla
I had the opportunity to work with a little girl back in 2015 called Ayla. She had severe behavioural and emotional difficulties and I fell in love with helping her. So this is probably why I chose Ayla.
18. Delilah
19. Autumn
20. Wednesday
Always a strong favourite of mine, Wednesday Addams is a soul sister of mine so that's what inspired the name Wednesday. Both myself and Jake thought Wednesday Davies sounded better than Wednesday Shelley - but if it sounded right I think we would have both liked Wednesday.
21. Beau
22. Tallulah
OMG TALLULAH. As a child my parents would call me Tallulah and I always wished I could change my name to Tallulah. What a beautiful name, so cute. Jake does not agree! :(
23. Piper
24. Dorothy
25. Nellie
Nellie Shelley says it all really.
26. Betty
27. Tiger-Lily
My third favourite name for our little girl. I love the unusualness of Tiger-Lily and I think it's a name you just can't forget. A name for a free spirited, strong willed little girl - AGAIN, Jake disagreed. HOW BORING! :( :( :(
28. Harlowe
29. Binky
30. Sophie
Jake loved the name Sophie, I think it is way too plain and boring for our little girl. She needs something to make her stand out and be different. I would have considered Sophia, but still I think it's too popular and not right for a diva.
So there is our list! Please if your children's name features on our list and you don't agree with what I've written I apologise but these are simply my opinion of our list of baby names.
love xxxx

Martha Matilda Harper, the Greatest Businesswoman You’ve Never Heard Of
She pioneered retail franchising and created the American hair salon industry.
via @atlasobscura (article link):
She designed the first reclining chair so they could have their hair washed without getting shampoo in their eyes, and had a half circle cut out of her sink (with running water) for ladies to rest their heads. The emphasis was on customer service, long before the term was coined.
...
“She really felt that by developing her salon system she was helping women establish a financial life of their own beyond their husband’s, or allowed them to live without a husband.” ... “She is lost in history and I think it’s too bad,” says Knapp. “It happens and makes you wonder about your worth sometimes in life. Martha stood for a lot of things and it’s a shame that it’s been lost in the history pages.”
