Hi, I'm Duvi, and I have been hoping to grow or strengthen bonds with people for a while now, but haven't been in environments that were good for me. As a result, I have a low friend index and not much to draw on socially. So, I'm sending out this message to the void for anyone else who wants to KILL their loneliness!

Now all of that is well and good, but what I want to get into is the more granular individual interests since that's what I can easily tag for relevance!

If you watch the YouTubers Vinesauce, Grayfruit, Big Yellow, Dead Meat, Caddicarus, Rata/Rank10YGO, Wambu, Hivemind, and/or anyone who animates or does YouTube Poops, that is an opening.

The room lays empty of its owner, though not bare of life. It’s a daily occurrence that the ship’s beloved mascots sort through what lays on the desk.

Having been through much trial and tribulation the trio of hermit crabs now enjoy the finer things in life, often taking it upon themselves to redecorate the room, much to the chagrin of the captain when he returns.

A few months ago my last hermit crab died, I’d had them for years at that point and still miss them so much. In the early drafts they were placeholders for different animals, but after their deaths I decided to make them cannon to the story. May they rest in peace in the pages of stories to come.

Astrological talisman bearing an image and magical symbols associated with Mars.

This talismanic image of Mars is derived from the Picatrix, a Renaissance-era grimoire translated from its original Arabic, first to Spanish, then to Latin, and now to English:  “The image of Mars, according to the opinion of the wise Apollonius, is the shape of a crowned man holding an inscribed sword in his right hand.” Picatrix Book II, Chapter 10, Paragraph 19 (Attrell and Porecca, 2019)

The back of the talisman bears the Grand Planetary Seal of Mars and the Characters of Mars according to Agrippa.

Modern magicians use Mars for a variety of things, including bolstering courage and blessing crops, recalling the nature of the Roman god Mars. I have used this image of Mars, myself, to great effect as a protection talisman.

Picatrix says: “Seek from Mars those things that rest upon his nature, such as requests against soldiers, officials, fighters, and those getting themselves involved in armed conflict; also on account of kings’ alliances, those destroying homes and cities, those doing evil to men, murderers, executioners, those who work with fire or in stables, litigators, shepherds, thieves, guardians of roads, the deceitful, traitors, and brothers.” Book 3 Chapter 7 Paragraph 4 (Attrell & Porecca, 2019)

Rio 2 (2014) 7.5/10

After hearing information about the existence of more Blue Spix Macaws, Blu, Jewel, their kids, Rafael, and Pedro and Nico fly to the Amazon to connect with their roots. Only, Blu is very wary of the prospect, being a domesticated bird for so long.

The plot is easy to follow, and the characters are hilarious! It picks up from the first movie, Rio, and brings back some old enemies (*cough* Nigel *cough) but along with some new friends as well. Roberto (Bruno Mars) is a charismatic, and handsome childhood friend of Jewel, much to Blu's jealousy, and Eduardo (Andy Garcia) is Jewel's overprotective but stern father, who instantly has a wariness of Blu.

The film raises awareness about forest logging and it's harmful impact on the environment, which is very upsetting to see in the movie. Regardless, it's well executed in how they portray it, how illegal logging can be but also how it harms the plants and wildlife.

The songs are great, especially 'Beautiful Creatures' by Barbatuques, a Brazilian music group, and 'What Is Love' by Janelle Monae. 'It's A Jungle Out Here' by Philip Lawrence is also very catchy and fun to listen to.

I'm not particularly a fan of the lack of awareness on the loggers' part. You'd think they'd at least write about a more elite group working to bring them down, but that's just my opinion.

The gags are funny, the humor is witty and timed so well, and most of the funniest lines come from Pedro (Will.i.am) and Nico (Jamie Foxx).

But as far as sequels go, this is another one that doesn't disappoint!

TL;DR - Its a 4+ player competetive card-matching game with four rule variants; buy it here or look for the orange text in this post to learn how to play it with a regular deck

"What is Jewel Thief?"

It's a card matching game with a villain; one player tries to match jewels in a 36 card grid while their opponent, the titular Jewel Thief, periodically steals cards from the board. You can check out its page on The Game Crafter for more information, but it'll spoil the rest of this post

"What makes it special?"

The game's turn structure would theorettically allow you, perhaps via some kind of infinite cloning machine, to play a round of Jewel Thief til the heat death of the universe. While I wouldnt recommend that, its lack of a player cap (and ease of set-up; seriously, all you do is put cards on a table) makes it a good party game choice.

But that's not all!

There are three extra rule variants that drastically alter the gameplay while keeping card matching and stealing as main mechanics. I believe the cards are versatile enough to allow for many custom games, too

"Okay, but why should I buy a silly game from some bug nerd?"

First off, ouch. Second off, that's the best part; you dont have to buy it to play it! Jewel Thief can be played with a standard 52 card deck. Here's how:

Step 1. Remove the 10s, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Jokers

Step 2. Download the free rules from the shop page

Step 3. Play the game, matching cards based on their values. You'll need to designate a value as the Diamond jewel for game 4
