Not sad, but lonely

I think my quest over the last few years to beat sadness has made good progress.  Maybe my name on here should change.

But I feel very alone.  I love my wife and my life, but as I sit in a coffee shop and watch couples engage, I long to be touched and wanted.  I don’t get that.  I know she loves me and our family, but I miss that feeling of youth when your lover just needs to touch you, to feel you.  I mean we make love, but is she really that into me like years ago?  no.

My desires are blown off as just my being “male”.  I cannot believe how much my needs and wants are seen as not important.  Any other guys know what I am saying?

I am learning this is what life has dealt the middle aged guy.  Reduced to not important to the women they love. 

This feeling of lonely I cannot share with anyone.  It hurts. To fight it or to leave or to cheat makes me the bad one.  

We heard of a husband who left his wife and kids.  Everyone called him a jerk.  I wondered, did his wife fuck him with passion ever in the last few years?  But society wont let us ask that question at a dinner party.

Who gets what I am saying.  Anyone else feel this way?

I am shallow?

if my wife was more into having sex with me I would be pretty content overall.

I realize after talking to a friend in same boat that if sex life at home was more robust, I could deal with a lot of the other issues that plague me.  

Yeah, I have some slight bi feelings, but when younger and getting laid a lot I never even thought about it. 

Satisfying sex seems to heal a lot of the problems of the world.

How many other men feel this way?

Hi, recently at work I went out drinking with some colleagues. One of them was kinda hitting on me, earlier on I am sure I saw him wearing a wedding ring, but when we went out for drinks he wasn't, when I asked him he said he was single. I was quite drunk and kinda grinded up on him, thats all, because I wasnt sure if he was lying or not. The next day my other colleague told me he was married. Should I say something to him, or leave it because I probs wont see him again, I just feel so guilty

Hey there, 

I understand that you feel guilt, and you may feel ashamed as anyone would feel after that. But please keep in mind although you had suspicions it was he who lied. Looking on the bright side at least nothing else happened.

You do have two options, whether to tell him or not. But it really depends if you want to make a difference. The fact he took off his ring means he was intentionally looking to cheat. So therefore he does have a wife at home whom he’s more than willing to cheat on. If you say something it may be the push he needs to stop cheating, it also may not be. But at the same time its difficult because you don’t know him and you don’t know his story whats going on in his relationship. Since you are not seeing him again it may be easier to forget and move on, but i think if you want to try to do something about the situation because as i said again you aren’t going to see him again, and maybe what you do could make all the difference.

Think carefully about what you say as well, cheating is an awfully sensitive subject that i don’t want you tangled in! But at the end of the day its up to you x I really hope you choose to do something that will put your mind at peace and bring you happiness at the end of the day.

Last note on the guilt love - none of us can be perfect all the time, we were not engineered or built to be perfect, we always will make mistakes for as long as we live, but its the magnitude of the mistake, and in my opinion, this isn’t a huge one.
