im surprised the guy's intention was to recruit himekawa seeing now it makes some sense she is good in recovering valuables i see why he'd want her to work for him, i feel a bit off tho i keep waiting for a "boo the poison clan is involved" but im guessing this will come up later maybe in a later arc and im just anxious bc of chapter 99

the way i knew smth was off when "gero" was just suddenly there and then "im you boyfriend" WHAT

i still wish we couldve had seen more of the girls without him i appreciate that the guard dog guys kimie was the one that scared them off, which btw that was amazing, ig he'll be helpful to kick asses since thats not kimie's forte but yeah i hope hes not so relevant at least he stays in the background fighting while the girls make out or smth thatd be peak writing me thinks

Those past MarriageToxin chapters have been really interesting (especially as I was finding the Beast Island Arc rather long), so I was intrigued to see this part wrapped up soon But oh booooy, the designs they choose for Kinosaki and the new target are really going straight to my tastes. Buttoned shirt and business pant might seems bland but I love it so much on women (or... whatever is going on with Kinosaki (I need to make a post about Kinosaki actually I have thoughts on him)).

MARRIAGE TOXIN BABY YAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

This recommendation will contain somewhat light spoilers, but nothing that should hurt your experience in reading it

Marriagetoxin is an action comedy romance manga series about the head of a family of assassins who decides to seek out marriage in order for his sister to be with her girlfriend instead of being forced into a marriage to continue the bloodline. He ends up seeking out the help of a swindler who helps him in his love life.

Marriagetoxin does indeed have queer representation, though it is more subdued than the initial tweet I saw recommending the manga portrays. This is neither a bad thing, and the series doesnt hide its queer representation, its just not (as of right now) a major element of the plot. This could change in the future, but currently it holds no bearing on the mainplot.

The main protagonist’s gay sister has so far not made many appearances in the main plot, though I do not mind this so much for a couple of reasons. For one, her gayness is very much explicit whenever she has made an appearance, we actually get to see the girlfriend and a little slice of what their relationship with each other is like. I do hope we get more appearances of those two because I do like them and think they can serve as a good example of the kind of life the main protagonist is seeking out. Secondly, the main plot is in fact about the brother’s search for marriage and did not set the expectation for anything else. I think mostly as a way to hook people on reading the manga, people wanted to play up the queerness of the story, which is there but not as a big element of it (so far). If the book had set out the explicit expectation that the sister was going to be a major element of the story, I would be more frustrated with it. I wont disagree with people that there could be more gay elements within the story, but I think some people are putting their own expectations upon it when the story from the beginning tells you what it is.

The secondary protagonist of the story is what I read into as a genderqueer character. Current translation Ive been reading refers to the character as a man for the most part, though the character seems to be comfortable in taking on the role of a man or a woman and usually represents feminine in the story. I dont have the language knowledge necessary to determine if the translation is accurate on this account, but from what is widely available that is what seems to be where the character is at.

I do have to give a content warning for incest as there is a character who is the main protagonist’s cousin who has romantic feelings towards him. So far the character has only showed up in a couple of chapters, and is rejected by the main protagonist. Its still an uncomfortable element I wish was not in it but from whats currently out is not something that is focused on or indulged in.

Otherwise, I have a blast with this manga. I hope it does more with its queer representation but its a big fun ride all around and Im excited to read more!!!

Entre tantas cosas, me estoy volviendo a leer Kanata no Astra (porque es Kanata no Astra) después de unos buenos 7 u 8 años, y hay algunas cosillas que se nota que con la releída, tienen sentido hasta un cierto grado. También algo sobre "Shinohara reutilizando parte de los pasados trágicos de sus dos personajes más conocidos de su manga anterior, o reciclando conceptos del primer piloto/one shot" pq es muy obvio, lmao.

Ya veo pq prefería mejor a Ulgar que a Zack, lol. Zack tiene en esencia a Switch (SugiTomo incluso le dio voz al padre), pero todo el angst lo tiene Ulgar (y... sí, me sigue cayendo mal el rollo entre Zack y Quitterie, ngl... pero es por "trauma" :), que, sí soy franca...).

Una cosa que sí me medio cae mal? pero creo que aquí es culpa de la traducción es cómo identifican a cierto personaje en el vol. 2, que, pues, por spoilers y así no mencionaré el rollo, pero... digo, uno asumiría y así... pero creo que todos estaban en la misma frecuencia de que "sí, pero..." Y más pq estoy segura que en la traducción al inglés siempre le identificaron de lo que se supone que este se identificaba... me explico?)

Y, pues, este año es el 10mo aniversario de la Jump Plus, ¿no? Estuvieron el mes pasado haciendo campaña por ello, y me dio gusto que pusieran a Tonkatsu DJ Agetaro como uno de sus primeros hits... pero Astra no, porque creo que fue opacado por otra serie (no me acuerdo si Firepunch o cual, exactamente...) y luego liberaron un video, por lo mismo del aniversario, que está PRIMORDIALMENTE dominado por sxf y otras series más actuales... pero hay rastros de cuadros de Marriagetoxin, Magilumiere, Kindergarten Wars, Kaij*u no 8... sólo UNO sobre Astra y otras series más antiguas... CERO Agetaro... y poniendo Chain*saw Man me parece mucha más trampa pq solía ser un título de la WSJ antes de cambiar de publicación así que... ando un poco salada sobre el dichoso video, sí. Aunque creo que la mención de una en el conteo para el aniversario (Agetaro, que también contó con anime y película live action) y otra en el video, que también fue exitosa (Astra, la segunda serie exitosa de un autor de la WSJ, que también tuvo adaptación a anime) pero fue opacada por otras del mismo año balancea un poco las cosas :|
