“I know I asked you to come over and distract me while I worked. But I didn’t think you’d actually do it. Not that I hate the company. But you didn’t have any better offers tonight?” Arden asked both jokingly and curiously, pulling some comics off a cart as she restocked the shelves at her job. “You know, if you gave me a hand I might even be grateful enough to give you something in return.”

“Two questions - how do you wanna handle your beauty queen and do you want me to kidnap that announcer guy, knock him around a little bit as revenge and get some info out of him about who really runs that shit? Cause that’s the plan.” Outright emotions, especially among his boys was often expressed in other ways, but the way Ace passed Marlo a flask and he looked his friend over for obvious injury was a tried and true sign of Ace Claymore brand concern and affection, and him asking how Marlo wanted to regard Arden after the shit he said was a clear indication that Ace respected him enough to take his lead.

MARLO REYES. greaser; twenty-two. taylor zakhar perez. TAKEN.
and, as marko once said:
“Feeding time! Come and get it boys!”
BEFORE THE PARTY;
The youngest of the Lost Boys - a name he so proudly came up with himself - Marlo is generally the least intimidating at first glance. This is a known fact around town, but people’s biggest mistake is being lulled into a false sense of security by his sweet smile and long lashes. He’s easily as volatile as the others despite the way he and Polo always goof around.
Everyone’s favourite dealer, Marlo’s known for welcoming all types to share his wares— the only catch is that it’s never one hit or one drink. It’s a lost weekend kind of deal, ending up two states over wearing someone else’s shirt that you might have stolen during the game of strip poker where you lost your new shoes and then all your cash trying to win them back. Either that or the shirt might have been bestowed upon you by a mystical being from another dimension… one can never be sure, and no one ever questions it lest they end up at the pointy end of a blade.
Becoming part of Ace’s inner circle was an accident on Marlo’s behalf, albeit the luckiest accident of his life. Coming from a South Side trailer park, his family had never had much. Sometimes his mom sent him out to steal whatever he could just so they could eat. On one particular day, on the verge of being cornered with his hoodie stuffed with food, the older Claymore had barrelled into his life. He’d caused a scene with his friends in the next aisle over, giving Marlo enough time to run before they caught up to him, a hungry weight in their eyes that felt like looking into a mirror. The tax for their help had been a candy bar, but it didn’t matter, they’d saved his ass from going to juvie for sure that time.
He’d been in awe of Ace from that day on, had learned everything he knew from him like a good little apprentice— from pickpocketing, to throwing a decent punch, to riding a motorcycle. Joining the greasers with him and his boys was an easy decision, the comraderie something he’d always craved, his hotheadedness encouraged rather than punished. Chaos was where he felt comfortable, and Ace was nothing short of chaos personified.
He’d been walking home late one night, knuckles bloody and too drunk to even start his bike, when a car had sped by and nearly taken him out— his fault for wearing black in the dark and walking down the middle lines, but still, he blasted two middle fingers back at them then continued on his way without much consideration for what exactly they’d been speeding away from. The only thing at the end of the road was the trailer park, but two and two didn’t add together as he walked down the row to his trailer and found himself choking on smoke.
The damage to his family’s home wasn’t as devastating as it was to his neighbours’, the Atkins’, but it was still enough that the place was unliveable. His parents had blamed him for the fire, said it had to have been gang retaliation, someone looking for him who had lit up the wrong trailer. Then, as quickly as they’d accused him, they were gone, leaving him behind because he refused to admit any fault. At least Ace had come through for him, as always, and let him move in.
The same couldn’t be said for his neighbour though, and he hated that maybe his parents were right, maybe it had been someone trying to get back at him for sleeping with their girlfriend or selling them powdered sugar pressed into pills. Now the harmless girl he’d thrown worms at as a kid was homeless and her mom had almost died, which might have induced his first ever experience of guilt. It was the least he could do, he thought, giving her Ace’s number in case she ever needed anything. What kind of loss was it to sell your soul to the devil when you were already at rock bottom? He'd done it and everything had worked out alright.
DURING THE PARTY;
Despite the task at hand, Marlo's mood was boisterous as ever. He liked Scott-- knew he had to kick his ass, but they'd had good times together nonetheless. So, as part of the plan to lure him outside, he'd simply had to be himself. They'd been playing around and he'd been getting a little too excited about a snowball fight he was trying to start, until he realised the mood had shifted and Ace was getting down to business.
Part of him almost wanted to interrupt, to call it off and give the middle Cruz another chance now that they'd seen some semblance of the friend they'd lost, but one simply did not try to change Ace Claymore's mind without a good reason. Things had to happen they way they'd planned because that was how things were done, how they'd always been done.
So, with that in mind, he'd gladly jumped in to share his own frustrations, not afraid to speak the truth and not feeling guilty for the split second look of understanding on Scott's face after the first punch was thrown-- by Storm, surprisingly enough. He knew what they were doing, and he had to have known he was going to be the one coming out second best.
A busted lip and bruised ribs later - all fair shots in what had been the most compelling fight he'd been in for a long time - Marlo saluted the crumpled heap in the snow, cheerily telling him he'd see him around. To be fair it was hard to tell just how messed up the guy's arm was with a sweater on, but he'd probably sell him something for the pain later if he promised he'd learned his lesson.
alternate faceclaims and prompts.

It was harder to track down Marlo than Arden had imagined. For someone so loud and who was often the life of any party no one had a concrete idea on where he was. Maybe that was the problem, he liked to be everywhere so he didn’t stay in one place for too long. Maybe she was dumb to think that they were close enough now to be around more often for one another. Or maybe she had screwed that up after that panic challenge. Things had been kinda weird between them since then. But she needed a favor so when she did finally find him she made her way over to him with no hesitation. “I know you’re not really talking to me for....whatever reason. But I kinda need you.” Arden said in a low voice, looking at anywhere else but him so she didn’t have to look him in the eyes. To her, asking others for help wasn’t something that came easy. It meant sucking up her pride and admitting that she didn’t have a handle on her life. And for someone who had been forced to take responsibility for her family at a young age that was hard to do even for a moment. And that was on top of the guilt she still felt for the mess she had dragged Marlo into not long ago, how much she might have hurt his reputation or his pride. She knew she didn’t deserve to ask anything from him yet here she was. “Please. Just for a second. And I won’t bother you anymore. Promise.”

Storm had done a decent job resisting the urge she felt to dote on Marlo after that challenge all thing considered. She’d given him a hell of a hug when he got home and fed him first and more than the other boys but she gave him his space the first couple of days otherwise. When she found him home without the others around she finally took the chance to really talk to him. “I know it ain’t her fault or whatever but I wanna fuckin’ fight blondie for pullin’ you into her shit.” She mumbled. “How you been holdin’ up? For real.” @marlo-reyes

“Hey, we got beef, bitch,” Polo shoved Marlo, rough but with a brotherly fondness. Truth be told he was relieved to see him home in one piece as he always was after one of his disappearances, though they probably weren’t emotionally intelligent enough to actually admit as much. “I put money on you pissin’ yourself and what have we here?” he gestured down at Marlo’s crotch, “Dry as a bone.”

Quote
