Going to decimate whoever designed the online version of MS Word. I don't care that it's "less robust" than the paid version, your product is useless if it fucks up all my carefully designed formatting when I open native MS Word documents in the web version. "Why is my resume suddenly 3 pages long" oh it's just because MS Word online apparently doesn't know how to display its own files. I will not be spending the time to figure out if the same happens in reverse. I have better things to do, like switching to LibreOffice.
#in which i say things#a whole (subtle) selling point of my resume is 'look i know how to make things look really nice in MS Word look at my marketable skill' :/

Going to be very off-topic for just a sec, but given how that campaign is all over my dash, I feel like I can't go on ignoring the emotions it provokes in me. Plus, since this is such a common struggle, I hope that maybe some of you can relate and I want you to know that you aren't alone at all.
If you're also struggling with your emotions over this and you need someone to talk to in confidence, I'm here for you. I understand.
Anyway, warning for mentions of alcohol abuse below the cut:
It's always fascinating to me how alcohol is marketed as this positive thing which brings you happiness and a great social life. When in reality, it often destroys relationships and lives and is, by definition, a depressant. It is a substance which often leaves you unhappier, fatter, lonelier, weaker, sicker, poorer...
And also, do you ever notice how it's never marketed around the taste (because it's literally poisonous and due to social pressure, we have to trick our brains by drinking it enough times that we eventually convince ourselves we actually like the taste of poison)?
It's always about sharing a beer with friends at the beach or enjoying a glass of wine with a meal. Never about how delicious it tastes...
While you may crave the feeling of being drunk, do most people really enjoy the taste and that's the primary reason why they drink? Is that the main reason given at AA meetings/rehab clinics? Do you ever hear alcoholics say: "I couldn't stop drinking that beer because it was just so crisp and refreshing!"
No, of course not. Alcohol is primarily used as a social crutch, or as an escape from one's problems. Dutch courage, social drinking where you feel giggly, giddy and tipsy... until one day you realise you can't socialise without it and it transforms from enjoyment to dependency, hopefully before you permanently damaged your organs...
Anyway, this isn't me being puritanical. I'm not mad at these campaigns or those who star in them, because at the end of the day, celebrities will always take cash from questionable sources. Money talks. Always has, always will.
It's merely an observation on the life this campaign 'sells,' as someone who has decided to break the generational cycle of alcoholism in my family and has been sober for 18 months now.
And a way for me to sort through my feelings and vent my own emotions around these kinds of campaigns. I don't miss alcohol and I don't feel tempted to drink whatsoever, but it's everywhere and there will remain a danger for the rest of my life that I could forget everything I've learned about alcohol. I don't want to lose sight of why I walked away from this destructive drug which is so widely accepted. When the truth is it is far more harmful to you than many illegal drugs.
If you enjoy alcohol, I truly hope you have fun with it in moderation. But I hope you can also stop and recognise the risks involved each time you reach for the bottle. The slippery slope you may be on which there is a danger you don't realise you've been sliding down until you're at the bottom, looking back up. And I hope you realise that what these advertising campaigns show are never rooted in the reality of what this substance can do to you.
If you start drinking that beer, it's far more likely you'll end up with kidney damage than you will ever get to share a cold bottle of it on the beach with that actor you love so much...
#alcohol#sobriety#alcoholism#alcoholic#addiction awareness#613 days sober and counting :)#spud rants#personal#<- like VERY personal but i needed to get this out#and as i said if anyone wants to talk i'm here! i get it!#i've long ago stopped caring about what silly decisions stupid famous people make but a small part of me can't help but wish he picked#something ANYTHING else to market#gorgeous talented in demand actor with the world at his feet chooses to work with an industry which causes so much death and destructionSAD#like every industry does lol im not naive but yeah i clearly feel personally towards this one#so im gonna feel weird about it and also not interact with any more of it#i did this morning but my emotions caught up with me the rest of the day#one day i'll write something about how many alcoholics are likely undiagnosed nd people but thats another day#anyway din djarin shitposts will resume shortly i feel better for getting this off my chest lol

This is super random but if anyone out there is really struggling in the job search recently (like me) and feels like they are getting ZERO interviews despite applying to a million places, I want to provide some perspective as a hiring manager to make you feel a little better!
I have a digital marketing coordinator we opened under me Monday afternoon at my job. As of 7 pm EST today, I had to email HR to tell them to close applications because I had 907 applications in 48 hours. NINE HUNDRED AND SEVEN.
We are talking about hundreds worth of people who are probably insanely qualified for the position and who would be the best fit ever that I won't even see the names of because it is not possible for me to actually look at 907 applications.
This is your reminder to keep at it and to remember that it's not you. The job market is absolutely awful right now and there are hundreds and thousands of people fighting for the same exact job and half of the job postings aren't even legit/go unfilled.
You aren't being overlooked because you're not worthy - you're just getting lost in the absolute dumpster fire that is this job market.
#like i probably won't even look through any resumes after 100#its just like not possible#and i realize this is what is so hard about this job market is trying to be in that first however many resumes a hiring manager is#willing to even LOOK at

i think culinary school is a portal to hell :) i would strongly advised against it :)
i appreciate u being real w me haha. i ended up going with a community college culinary arts AAS program because $$ and also if i hate it it's easier to change to something different.
#my ultimate goal is do something more like catering or private chefing or the true ideal would to be a personal chef for a family#eventually#i don't want to have a longterm career in a restaurant kitchen or anything#and from what i understand personal/private chef clients like to see a degree on ur resume#especially bc i would have to market myself i think it would just be really helpful#if i wanted to work in a restaurant i would skip school and just. go work in a restaurant bc the experience is much better#like working ur way up in a restaurant is a much cheaper and more hands on way to learn how to be a great restaurant chef#idk if that makes any sense haha#i just think for my end goals going to school makes the most sense#asks

6 quick tips to spruce up your resume ⚡️
There are many ways you can spruce up your resume to make it stand out from the rest. Here are a few tips to consider:
Customize your resume for each job: Tailor your resume to match the specific job you're applying for by highlighting the skills and experiences that are most relevant to that position. This will show the employer that you're a good fit for the job and have taken the time to research their company.
Use a clear and professional format: Choose a clean and easy-to-read format for your resume. Use headings, bullet points, and white space to make it easy to skim through. Ensure that the font and size are consistent throughout.
Highlight your accomplishments: Instead of just listing your job duties, focus on your accomplishments and how you added value to your previous roles. Use quantifiable metrics and specific examples to demonstrate your achievements.
Use action verbs: Start each bullet point with an action verb to show what you have done. Use strong and specific verbs like "created," "managed," or "implemented" to convey your skills and experience.
Include relevant keywords: Many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to screen resumes. Use relevant keywords from the job description in your resume to ensure it passes the ATS and gets seen by the hiring manager.
Proofread your resume: Before submitting your resume, make sure you proofread it carefully for typos and grammatical errors. Ask a friend or mentor to review it as well to get a fresh perspective.
By following these tips, you can create a polished and impressive resume that will help you stand out in the job market! Good luck! 🍀

Also if tumblr wants to do the badges thing I think they should do it for like actual accomplishments or very weird garbage things no one would think of. Being here for 10 years without a significant hiatus. Made a post without using the letter e (bc tumblr doesn't have an e and if this sites current brand identity loves one thing it's being cheeky and self referential). A badge called "rawdogging it" for people who don't us xkit. Reblogged 20 posts in 5 minutes and it looks like a can of spam or smth.
Cause as it stands "made over 100 posts" (especially when it counts reblogs in that) or "saw over 601 posts" is like. Meaningless. It's not an accomplishment and it seems to very much be trying to cater to new users when an overwhelming majority of the user base seems to have been here for over five years if not more.
#tumblr literally please hire me for marketing i have actual legit marketing experience on my resume like not as a joke#i can save you.

The constant cycle of “please hire me I need experience” and “we won’t hire you because you lack experience”
#the job market makes me feel like I should have already worked a 9-5 for a decade#but I’m literally just a 19 year old uni student that’s scraping together enough things to put on a resume#does it mean he loves me if he offers to look over my resume?
