Hiii, I'm curious as to why there are no social media accounts for instagram/tiktok? Would it just be too much work to cross post on those platforms or do you just not like those platforms?

I am one person handling all the posts anon qvq It admittedly is a little bit of a work to cross post. Like fun fact, every time I make an official post it takes me an hour+ to do it because I read and re-read three times to make sure it’s okay. Doesn’t stop me from still making some mistakes however ^^,

But someday we’ll be on those platforms! Maybe. Probably not Instagram because that requires a lot of media— but maybe!

Post-game Rook going to work at the Mirror as a gossip columnist. It's basically like Carrie's column in Sex and the City with a dash of murder mystery. They just talk about how good Neve looked in her new outfit or how stale the puppet panto is getting. Occasionally they post a real exposé on a politician and ruins them. They're an anonymous author, but people know it's the Hero of the Veil who answers Dear Abby style dating questions while also repeatedly revealing sensitive information on corrupt individuals. Who's going to go after someone who literally murdered two ancient Elven gods and like 7 dragons?

I like statistics so I wanna like, study what it is about certain games or series that seems to collect folks like that. Is it how the fandom treats a piece of media? Is it the demographic? I donno!

we saw an early screening with a Q&A of the new soderbergh ghost movie presence and at the Q&A soderbergh was like “yeah the idea for this movie started because our house sitter in LA told us she’d seen a ghost in the hallway” and i almost started crying because i couldn’t believe so many things i love were happening on my birthday

No I’m SO sorry but it’s truly so funny to me that a lot of dudes going to see challengers for the idea that they’ll see a hot naked Zendaya and what they actually get treated to is tasteful and delicate aspects of the male form from the visionary that is Luca Guadagnino (and of course very very explicitly homoerotic imagery.) And there is a healthy amount of sexualization for both forms. But the fact that there is full frontal male nudity in this movie, the only true nudity in this movie is of the male form, marketed the way it is is just so good. Like I work in a theater and the amount of dudes coming out lambasting that this movie sucks is so fucking delicious. The way straight guys have to sit and accept the queerness of this movie that it EXISTS, that it’s beautiful and tender and gentle, and intimate, but also loud, and brash, and seeped into every conceivable corner adds another 10 on top of this already 10/10 movie.

been revisiting outcast (via the wcwit podcast!) and given my main issues with the series as a whole it's frustrating to me to remember that they actually DID have a whole deal about needing to address the flaws of a status quo and set of traditional values to adapt and change it, but instead of applying this to the nightmare stagnant oppressive theocracy that is the clans it was instead a white saviour narrative about an exponentially more indigenous-coded group who are narratively presented as too incompetent to thrive (or even brainstorm literally any ideas) by themselves without outsider interference overwriting their culture

Also thinking abt End cities in this AU, they’re busier and more like a proper city rather than just spaced towers.

D’you find Nintendo’s marketing of Side Order to be kind of…lacking? Because I recall Octo Expansion getting much more attention from them in the lead up to its launch. Interviews, gameplay, story beats, character profiles, etc.

not really, i like not knowing. i do wish we got more interviews with splatoon's devs though, we haven't been seeing them as much as we did pre S3. tho if we see another dev interview it'd be nice to see it after side order so they can get more spoilery with their answers. i get the sense that during s2's development there was a sense of uncertainty from the devs regarding the success of a DLC (i remember during s1 the devs expressed much surprise at how well the game was received, and this sense of uncertainty is part of why salmon run ran only limited time slots in s2). i think this is what led to more marketing and interviews and such pre octo expansion...it sure seemed to work, i dont think we ever got actual sales numbers but its clear OE sold really well, and imo the fanbase for splatoon didnt really boom until after DLC (and of course even more so with S3). now during splatoon 3, the game pulls in a daily number of players higher than splatoon 2's peak. they dont need to sell the splatoon experience so hard like they used to. the trailer we got in september i think was good in getting people interested in side order, especially for existing fans. they can afford to be more cagey about the story and gameplay.
