I swear Alicent’s entire storyline is some humiliation ritual which panders to the anti Alicent crowd who thinks she should repent for being a hypocrite and suffer for daring to hurt Rhaenyra

Don’t believe the hype — “Marvel” does female empowerment better than “The Boys”. Here’s why.
Tumblr media
If you haven’t heard it yet, Amazon’s “The Boys” is the new trendy show that everybody needs to watch and like, if they want to hang out with the popular kids now. I won’t get into the details why this show is catered to 13-year old cis-het male edge lords who love gore and “nihilism”. It’s a waste of time and a highly problematic one too, trust me. I only watched it because I wanted to understand what all the hype was about.
What I really want to get into is that one scene from episode 8 in season 2… You know, the one that everybody is reaving about. Haven’t seen it yet? Here’s a summary:
Three womxn brutally beat up another womxn while men watch and cheer. And the audience thinks this is a good example for feminism. No, really.
And the internet loves it, of course! They even celebrate it as a good example of female representation and “real” feminism:

And y’xll know what? I’m not having it. Let me explain why.
Remember the all girls scene from Avengers: Endgame? People say it seemed forced. And maybe that claim is not completely wrong. But it had style and grace. It was an epic moment that brought many of us to tears when we first saw it in the cinemas (remember cinemas?). Yes, as probably the mightiest Avenger, Captain Marvel didn’t need the help of the other girls. But have y’xll ever heard of emotional support? Everybody needs it, even the strongest among us. It’s about being validated. It’s to demonstrate that girls should be there for each other and fight the powers of evil together. And each and everyone can do their part, even if some are more effective than others. It’s a message that is meant to inspire especially young girls.

“Eat my shit, you Nazi bitch!” — “Just die, you bitch!”
Now this on the other hand is just a dull, overly brutal display of female on female violence. Three womxn beating up another — for “The Boys” (those without superpowers who stand in the back of the scene and those in front of the screen who aren’s super either). Now if this isn’t a perfect picture of “good womxn” protecting the patriarchy against “bad womxn”, I don’t know what is. It has no other purpose than being borderline pornographic. What does this say to young girls? Probably nothing nice. Except if you think that supporting each other in ganging up on other girls is a positive message… (It’s not!) Neckbeards and Meninists are certainly furiously masturbating to this, while the rest of the audience reluctantly cheers only because, yay, she’s a literal Nazi, I guess! Who doesn’t like seeing Nazis being punched? I gotta hand it to the show writers, they did an amazing job in hiding their blatant misogyny in plain sight.

Things get particularly interesting (and nasty) if you take a closer look at who’s beating up whom…
Tumblr media
Queen Maeve, the tall and sexually adventurous redhead. Starlight, the cute blonde branded as marriage material. And Kimiko, the mysterious and exotic asian girl. OMG what a coincidence? Those are all popular sexual tropes created for cis men. And they are joining their powers to beat up the evil brunette jewish girl (actress Aya Cash comes from a jewish family). But wait, she’s actually a Nazi, right? So it’s all good? Yes, Stormfront who’s a guy in the comics (huh!) is a literal Nazi. But that’s not the point.
Tumblr media
The point is that this is what the media does today and nobody really seems to notice or care. They twist and turn things around so in the end nobody can tell up from down.
They started the season actually pretty good when they introduced Stormfront. She questioned everything Vaught’s marketing department threw at her. She dared to speak against Homelander (male) who’s officially still the boss. She was sexually confident. So, of course, she’s a Nazi. Like a literal Feminazi. The embodiment of all what incels fear. Don’t y’xll see what they are trying to sell here?
The secret message is: All strong womxn who stand up for themselves and don’t give in to patriarchal expectations have a secret hidden agenda to destroy everything that’s good in this world. Like Nazis. Let’s kill them!
