Asks perhaps the primary question of the computer age: whether there is some deterministic code controlling our universe that, if we could only access it and understand it, we could understand ourselves and our perceptions and our decisions, some machine that can bridge the electrical and the biological that can avail to us, through empirical experimentation, the totality of our individuality. Answers in an affirmative so comprehensive it's almost baffled. Yes, there exists such an object, and we have a common name for it: we call it a brain.

This revelation leads to the obvious follow up, expressed in the last moments of the movie: why would you want to know all that when you can look at trees and talk to children about numbers?
