Waluigi exists in a dialectically paradoxical state: while Wario is the mirror inversion of Mario, Waluigi exists in a state of higher abstraction from the original concept of "Luigi".

Wario can be defined as a Manichean interpretation of evil as a satanic perversion of the good represented by Mario, on the other hand Luigi also entertains a dialectic with Mario more linked to the absence of attributes possessed by Mario and vice versa: Mario is brave, Luigi is a coward ecc. ecc... his origins as "palette swapped Mario" makes this eminently clear; Mario's difference with Luigi is syntactic while Mario's difference with Wario is semantic.

Instead Waluigi exists from a sort of coexistence between the two forms of negation intrinsic in Wario and Luigi: he is not called "Igiul" or something like that, not merely entertaining the same relationship that Mario and Wario have, there is no inversion of the name Luigi.

He is a sort of Luigi "tainted" by the proximity with Wario's satanic inversion. His symbol, the upside down L of Luigi, demonstrates this by being a symbol that derives its significance purely from the association between that of Wario and that of Luigi, but losing any intrinsic significance and becoming unutterable.

This leads me to think that Waluigi is an even stronger form of negation of Mario: he maintains within himself both the difference of the evil inversion and negative lack. Where Mario fits perfectly into the "hero archetype" Waluigi's essence is so perversely twisted that a narrative centered on him cannot exist without collapsing. His accursed presence can only be tolerated as a side character in games with the smallest narrative investment possible: party games and sports.

That's why we will never have a nintendo game with Waluigi as the protagonist.
