It has been seventeen years since The Black Parade was sent to the MOAT. In that time, a great Dictator has risen to power, bringing about "THE CONCRETE AGE”; a glorious time of stability and abundance in the history of DRAAG. His Grand Immortal Dictator wishes to celebrate our rich and storied culture, fine foods, and musical entertainments by welcoming you to these great demonstrations of power and resolve. And lending voice and song for the first time in six thousand two hundred and forty six days, their work privilege ceremoniously reinstated, will be His Grand Immortal Dictator's National Band... Anza: "Heya, everybody! It's ya girl and-"
percy: *yawns* "ate anza...? what are you doing...? hm? what's this?"
Anza: "Oh, nothin'! Just setting up a blog for y'all to talk with people online 🥰"
NATE: *pops out of the air vent* "WHY NOT USE TWITTER?"
Rafael: *Bursts into the computer room* "NATE! It's 2 FUCKING am, and I just got some sleep! Please, GET OUT THE VENTS! I can hear you all until our room!"
Anza: "Guys, chill. It's late already. 😅 I'm not even gonna question why y'all are still up, just get a good rest, m'kay? 😁 Also, Nate, Twitter is crumbling down and I REFUSE to go to that hellsite." 😤
Siri: *wheels in* "Fair assessment, but why tumblr?"
Anza: "Just felt like it! Type up yer own bio's later if ya want. I'mma go check up on Natalya and head to bed, g'night! 😘"
percy: *tugs on Anza's pj's* "...do I still get my story?"
Anza: *picks her up in a piggyback ride and goes out the door* ✨️ "Sure! What'ya want this time?"
Siri: *peeks at the family computer and sighs* "She forgot to finish her own bio..."
Rafael: *Pries NATE out the vents* "Do we really have to do this?"
NATE: "C'MON! IT'LL BE FUN!"
Rafael: "Not really convincing me, but sure, what the hell."

@bigcats-birds-and-books tagged me to post some books I want to finish before the end of the year, and @wearethekat tagged me to post some I want to read next year! Since I generally am not planning super far ahead on my own reading, and I have no books I feel I must finish by Dec 31, I'm doing a combo list! Here's some stuff I want to read next (with "next" meaning probably sometime within the next couple months).
The Alpine Zen, by Mary Daheim - For the end of November and the beginning of December, I was just binge-reading a 26-book (it's alphabetical) mysteries series on Libby. It's not a perfect series, but it's good enough that I was sucked in, and I have more time for reading this time of year. Unfortunately, my county's Libby doesn't have the last book in the series!!! Luckily, I was already starting to get less invested by book 24 or so, but I sure would like to see how it wraps up. So putting a pin in this one.
To Live and Die in Dixie, by Kathy Hogan Trocheck - While suffering withdrawal from the above series, I've been poking around looking for a new (maybe shorter) mystery series to distract me. This is book 2 in a promising one. When I say I will read this next, I really mean it - I'll probably be reading it tomorrow.
Conrad's Fate and The Pinhoe Egg, by Diana Wynne Jones - I was doing a spur-of-the-moment reread of the Chrestomanci series this fall, and stopped at these two, so I'd like to pick them back up and finish the reread so I can make more posts about it!
The Signal and the Noise, by Nate Silver - This is a book I need to just grit my teeth and finish - nonfiction, interesting in some ways, I think Nate Silver is smart but that doesn't mean I always agree with how he thinks about things. I got further this time than the last time I tried to read this book several years ago, but I haven't picked it up in like a month or two.
Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer - This probably is a 2025 book, because I asked for it for Christmas and I think it will be a good book to read slowly in between other things! So assuming my parents follow through and I receive it...
I also have this urge to read The Odyssey, probably the Emily Wilson translation, but my library copy keeps coming due before I get very far. So that may be an eventual 2025 project and/or purchase.
I have not been poking around the most recent posts on tumblr in a minute, and also I combined tag things here, so I'm just going to take the route of saying: if you want to make a list like this, please do! and tag me in it! open invite!

Propaganda below ⬇️
Sister Mary
Diane Keaton, need I say more?
Nate Ford (Leverage)
He literally went to priest school because he wanted so badly not to be like his criminal father and then ended up becoming a smarter, more righteous criminal after corporate freed let his son die. Also he's plagued by Catholic guilt.
His dad was a criminal. He was going to be a priest but then he just became super law-abiding as a rebellion instead. But then his son died and he went HARD into crimes (but it's totally fine because it's helping people so he's allowed to do crimes!!!!) A recovering alcoholic who lives above a bar. (Another character literally goes "that's very ... catholic of you.") Then he's a very much NOT recovered alcoholic who lives over a bar. Spends all 5 seasons attempting to fist-fight God. (Someone tells him "God helps those who help themselves" and Nate says "And we help those who can't.") My headcanon is that he doesn't identify as catholic but he does believe in everything the Catholic Church teaches. He's just like, "Yeah it's TRUE but i don't personally agree with it so no thank you."
he was in seminary school but dropped out to become an insurance investigator (fake job) and I'm pretty sure he spends a lot of the first season convinced he's going to hell

North Carolina—and Iowa?
by Mary L. Trump
Excerpts:
On Saturday night, Ann Selzer, a pollster with a stellar reputation who specializes in the state [of Iowa], released a poll that has Kamala Harris up by 3 points.
Here is the history of Selzer’s polls since 2012. The actual election results are in parentheses:
2022 Senate: R+12 (R+12)
2020 President: R+7 (R+8)
2020 Senate: R+4 (R+7)
2018 Governor: D+2 (R+3)
2016 President: R+7 (R+9)
2014 Senate: R+7 (R+8)
2012 President: D+5 (D+6)
The result shocked the political world. It also reminded us that the Supreme Court’s Dobb’s decision continues to have serious electoral consequences for the party that is determined to turn women into second-class citizens.
Iowa has one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country. Beyond that, the state has been losing OB-GYNs since before Roe v Wade was overturned. And, in the wake of the decision, it’s been losing medical providers of all specialties.
.
In response to Selzer’s poll, Nate Silver, another pollster, that it was “incredibly gutsy to release this poll.”
Cohn recently admitted that “it is much safer, whether in terms of literal self-interest or purely psychologically, to find a close race than to gamble on a clear Harris victory.”
“When their results come in very blue, they don’t believe it,” Cohn wrote. “And frankly, I share that feeling: If our final Pennsylvania poll comes in at Harris +7, why would I believe it? As a result, pollsters are more willing to take steps to produce more Republican-leaning results.”
These comments are staggering:
Cohn and Silver see a close race because they want to see a close race.
This morning, The New York Times ceded the most valuable real estate on its front page to Nate Cohn, and ran his piece with this headline:
“Some Surprises in Last Battleground Polls, but Still a Deadlock”
And so it goes.
