So it was super neat to open up reddit and see Boom-Boom on my front page. And I wrote this fuckin soliloquy because I'm half in the bag and felt some shit.

I fucking love Tabi. Boom-Boom. Because, no matter who writes her (Ellison-A caricature of white trash (FUCK SHIT !@@$#!) or Leah Williams bimbo with a heart of gold), the end result is this fuckin street kid. She grew up poor and alone, she was probably, definitely raped, she developed her powers and was instantly othered, she's a fuckin drunk and probably a junkie and lived out on the road until she got taken in by Xavier and then was instantly used, again. "Hey you're just a baby and your life sucks, but we need you on X-Force because you obviously don't care for "rules" and you have a "beat the shit out of other people" power. Hey, "all that trauma you have, use it". Hey, "Y'know how you're a loner? Breathe it."

Tabi fuckin speaks for the street kid experience. 

No one ever fuckin questions how much she drinks. I love, LOVE, how her and Jubilee are living together and best friends TM. But like, she doesn't even say, "Hey Tabs, maybe chill out." It's almost funny in that it's fuckin not, how the fuckin street rat kid is a drunk. You just roll with it. 

But she's also always on. She's quick as fuck with a retort. Half the reason I love X-Terminators is goddamn Boom-Boom, "You look like Glinda the Good Witch's porn parody." Because Tabi fuckin owns that shit. Gets asked to come along and says "I have shit to do." "Like fuckin what?" "Like finishing this beer for starters? I'll see you there."

It's cute, until you pick it apart. It's the same as my favourite splash panel of her standing and drinking and finishing a fight saying "I thought y'all bitches said we weren't doing anything fun." Tabi is perpetually drunk in the background. Fucked up because she's going through some shit. Fuckin lit, but still a super hero. Her and Jessica Jones would probably be besties over the simple facts of whiskey and "goddamnit again? Fine. Guess I'll suit up."

Maybe I'm reading too much into it (I am.), but it's WHY I love them as characters and why they're my favourites. Because they so clearly don't fucking want to be here. They don't WANT this fuckin headache. But they still save the day. They go aboveboard beyond what a normal bitch would on her third drink by noon, because someone fuckin has to. The whole "I'm too cool for this, but I guess I have time", vibe is a silly, ridiculous act because thats the only way to cope. Be fabulous, dress the part, and fuck shit up half in the bag. Because if you don't, will someone else? Maybe, but I look better doing it: Hold my fuckin glasses. 

I'm fuckin rambling. But, Boom-Boom is my favourite mutant because she so obviously doesn't give a shit, and simultaneously does, more than anyone else, and I get that aa a street kid. As someone who's fucking homeless. Reading into it, it's hilarious that someone who lives in the margins hangs out with bitches whose whole fucking thing is being the light and sound.

Week 9/27: Buzzsumo Viral Story

I decided to research on Buzzsumo a viral story a co-worker was telling me about recently. I mentioned to them how I loved the Tabi by the Maison Marginal and how badly I wanted one. These shoes are easily over $1,000. This coworker then tells me about about a viral story of how this guy and a girl went on a date and the guy stole her tabi shoes? She said she followed this on Tik Tok and I don't have one but it sound so crazy to me. I decided to search on Buzzsumo to see where I can find the source of this story.

When searching "tabis shoe" into the search for the trending stories for the past week to month, the first result was "What's really happening with those missing tabi shoes?", this was by the New York Times. However, you need a subscription to the website in order to view the articles. I kept scrolling through and the last result on the first page starts off "She meets a guy on Tinder, invites him home, and he steals her shoe..." This sound like the story that I was familiar with from hearing a small summary from my co-worker.

The website that the article was on was oicanadian.com. The website itself didn't seem too authentic. I tried searching oicanadian about page first and it came up with this.

It was just strange because this story takes place in NYC however the "About Us" states they talk about celebrity news and rising stars in Canada. My guess is that this story was extremely viral so that is why they covered it and featured it on their website.

Going back to the story, I decided to search on TikTok itself for the viral story. Her TikTok username is @nextlevellexuss and the first pinned video that I can see had 1.5 Million Views and it says across the video "NYC FASHION GIRLIES BEWARE". I watch that video and she says the entire story from her point of view of what happened. I can see why this went viral because her story telling was good and the story itself is so insane. The guy was invited back to her apartment after their date and spent the night. The next morning when this guy was getting ready to leave her apartment, he mentions there was this Spotify playlist he wanted her to listen to. He said he didn't have it on his phone and said he will find it on hers. After he leaves the apartment, she realizes that her Tabi Shoes were missing on her shoe shelf. And he mentioned last night how badly he wanted Tabi shoes. She doesn't want to think she's crazy so she goes to message him on Tinder where she originally was speaking to him and realized that he was unmatched and she goes to her call log and their call history was deleted.

I scroll down a bit on her TikTok and watch the other related videos to the "Tabi Shoe stealer" to get the rest of the resolved story. All of the videos that she put out with the updates matched up with the article that was written on oicanadian.com

This tab shoe stealer story became viral on TikTok and in the very first video she put out was shared 41,000 times. She even states in her next videos after the original one with the updates, that she had no idea that the story was going to go viral. The people who shared the story got it to the right people and they were able to message and share with her the thieve's instagram, information to get in touch with his sister, and even finding out that the guy had a girlfriend. He kept denying her and private his instagram when she reached out to him. She was able to find out more details that this guy actually gifted the shoes to his girlfriend and then I guess after getting bombarded by the internet, he finally gave in after denying.

She made a requested video on TikTok of them meeting up for him to give back her shoes. This happened so fast for this girl since it wasn't too long after that she received her Tabi shoes. The original video was put out on September 1 and the retrieval of the Tabis video was September 5. I got these from the video dates at the bottom of the TikTok's. Her update videos were posted on September 2 which is when she found out her story went viral and that she was able to get in touch with the guy eventually.

It is just so crazy but not surprising how this happened so fast. It's amazing because now with viral stories we can track down thieves faster than ever!

The Serpentine War Ch. 14

Chapter 14: Amass

They were a somber, silent group when they landed in the forest. The cover of trees felt strange after so long in the rocky hills, and it was colder here.

Wu’s dragon vanished just as the Alliance began to gather. Among them, Wu found two injured Masters: Lorin, who appeared to have taken a blow to the head, and Maya, who was rolling her eyes as both Ray and Haru fretted over a cut in her shoulder.

“I’m fine.” She was vehement about it. Haru seemed to be handling the bandages nicely, so Wu instead knelt by Lorin. Lei and Asher hovered over him.

“A Hypnobrai got him as we were heading out,” Lei explained. She looked shaken, but that was a problem for another time. With some effort, she and Asher lifted Lorin to sitting position.

For a dreadful moment, Wu thought the Master of Earth might be dead. Then he lifted his head, groaning.

“This,” he muttered, “is why I always wear a helmet. Where is it?”

Lei pulled it from the grass behind her. “The Hypnobrai knocked it off.”

“Buggers.” Lorin took it from her. He squinted deeply, touched his bloodied temple, and continued, “Where’s Hanna?”

No one replied. Lorin turned his head, dark hair plastered with sweat and blood and dirt. His eyes found Ray. “Ray. Where’s Hanna?”

Ray straightened away from Maya, his expression flashing raw shame. “Lorin, there was an Anacondrai general. I tried -”

But now Lorin was scrambling to his feet, lilting a little as he did. The stones trembled around his feet. He looked very much like he wanted to throw himself at Ray, but Wu stepped in. He would not have his Masters killing each other.

“Lorin.” He caught the brawny man firmly around his armored shoulders. “Calm yourself.”

Lorin disregarded this. “You swore to me!” he roared at Ray. “You - you -”

He swayed on his feet. Wu helped Lei guide the man back to the ground and glanced at Ray with concern. Helplessness flashed across the young Master’s face, and anger. Wu knew this. He had trained this. Ray was furious with himself.

Before Wu could stop him, the Master of Fire stormed off into the trees.

No one spoke but Lorin, who continued to moan under his breath. “She was right there. She was right there.” He ground his helmet into the dirt and growled. “How did this happen?”

“Calm yourself,” Wu repeated, as much to himself as to Lorin. “The Serpentine do not harm their prisoners. Hanna is safe for the time being.”

Lorin fell silent, but the pain spilled out through his gaze. This was a blow with only one cure.

“Well, what do we do now?” Vivian asked from the midst of the other Masters. Her blonde hair danced around her head in a frizzy, lightning-induced halo. She laid her palms flat in the air before her. “The treaty’s broken, Lorin’s village is taken, the Serpentine have made it through the pass, and now there’s nothing to stop them from marching toward Ninjago City! It’s thirteen of us against an army! What do we have? And if you say hope, I’m gonna lose my mind.”

Everyone looked at Wu. Wu looked at Garmadon. Garmadon looked at the ground.

“I’m afraid,” Wu began, “that we cannot continue this war without help.” Garmadon finished the thought. “We need to mobilize the villagers as we move north. Lorin’s village included.”

“And the villages left behind?” Maya pointed out.

“We’ll evacuate them,” Garmadon assured her. He unfolded his arms with a glance at Wu. “I hate to split our forces, but -”

“But we must.” Wu let his staff hang horizontal at his side. “Vivian, you and the twins will go before us and evacuate every village from here to the north. Krux, you will lead them. Get all the villagers to Ninjago City. If worst comes to worst, perhaps we can make a stand there.”

There was silence for a moment. No one wanted to even think about what would happen if the Serpentine made it that far.

Lorin climbed to his feet. His gaze was darker than usual, but unbroken, and that was enough for now. “And the rest of us?”

“We will mobilize the villagers, as Garmadon said,” Wu answered. “We will slow the Serpentine down while we find a way to stop them.”

That was that. Wu directed Lorin to lead the women and children partway to the next town - they had a lot of walking ahead of them. He sent Vivian and the twins to talk maps with Haru while Garmadon set some of the Masters on lookout. Maya vanished to find Ray.

“Brother,” Wu said, when all was done. “I need to speak with you.”

Garmadon nodded. They stepped into the trees just far enough out of earshot. Garmadon leaned against a pine trunk and busily brushed dirt off his black tabi boots. “Without Kandoras, the Serpentine are less divided. I don’t know if I can exploit those divisions.”

“Kandoras was an asset,” Wu agreed, thinking of the old snake’s disdain for war, so uncommon among Serpentine. His son, Fangdam, would not be as insistent to stop fighting the ones who killed his father.

If they killed his father.

“I know what you’re thinking,” Garmadon said. “But there’s no way to prove it. For all we know, it could’ve been a human.”

“But it wasn’t.”

Garmadon looked unconvinced. In fact, he appeared entirely convinced of the opposite.

Wu frowned. “Garmadon. What are you not telling me?”

Garmadon took a long moment to respond. “I think I know who did this. But give me time to figure it out. If I can, it may work in our favor.”

The darkness in his tone was worrying. Still, Garmadon had never given Wu any reason not to trust him. If he needed time, Wu would give him time.

“Very well,” Wu replied. “Then we move forward?”

Garmadon pushed himself off the tree. “We move forward.”

The Alliance stayed in the Forest of Tranquility for a few days, minus Vivian and the Masters of Time. Wu wished Lorin could use patrol to stay busy, but with Hanna gone, the man struggled to form his Elemental dragon. So it was Sam Pale and Dojin who patrolled the countryside for the Serpentine army behind and the uncharted group of Constrictai out there somewhere in the Western Sea of Sand. If the Alliance hoped to protect Ninjago City at all, they would be fighting a battle from both the south and the east.

Garmadon rallied the citizens of Ninjago. With each village they passed, they gathered more men and women who wanted to fight. It wouldn’t be enough against Anacondrai warriors, and each furtive glance between Wu and his brother betrayed that knowledge. But it was all they had.

At night, they studied the maps. Stretching from the Glacier Barrens nearly to the mountains where the monastery lay, there was one obstacle.

“Birchwood Forest,” Garmadon said, his finger on the parchment. He jotted something indecipherable in the map’s margin - Garmadon always had terrible handwriting, even when they were children - then continued, “If there’s one thing snakes hate, it’s the cold.”

Haru, Master of Ice and their partner-in-maps, smiled amiably beneath his white beard. “And a frozen forest stands between them and conquest.”

Wu leaned on his staff and studied the blotch of white that was the Birchwood. “They’ll be weaker. Unfortunately, weak for an Anacondrai is still very strong.”

“Brother, you underestimate us.” Garmadon smiled and straightened with his fists braced against the table. “Remember that nice man I picked up from that village a few days ago?”

“No?”

“Well, this particular nice man is actually a veteran of the Royal Guard in Ninjago City.” Garmadon tipped his head to the side in a so-so manner. “Give it a week or two, we’ll have the villagers in fighting shape.”

Wu tried not to be dry as he repeated, “Fighting shape.”

“Very.”

“You’re...chipper.”

Crooked Smile Copyright Garmadon made an appearance again. “They’re completely useless, Wu, even more than your Masters. I will make sure they don’t get themselves killed.”

“There he is,” Wu declared. “Just checking. So, Birchwood is our stand, then?”

Haru and Garmadon both nodded. Whatever pipes held Wu’s emotion most of the time, they leaked a little now. He had known these two men for so long - Haru for centuries, and Garmadon for all the long years of his life. If they failed, at least it wouldn’t be for want of trying. And if they died, it would be as true comrades and friends.

Misako was the only one missing.

Wu dismissed himself before this feeling could worm its way to the surface. He strode out of the tent and through the camp, now always crowded - no longer with twelve or thirteen of them, but dozens of countrymen and kin.

Had Misako received his letter? There had been no reply. His heart had bled onto paper, and it petrified him to think it had been in vain. Or worse - not in vain, but in poor timing. A ruined chance. A lost chance.

What a torturous thought. She was safe, at least. Wu didn’t need to worry about her life as well as her heart. But even though Lorin’s wife was lost to them, at least Lorin had her love, and she his. If either of them died, they had no unsaid words between them. Yes, Wu had been right to send the letter. Even if he was killed, or rejected, at least she knew. The secret wouldn’t die with him.

Someone was calling his name.

“Master Wu! Master Wu?”

It was one of Garmadon’s villagers friends, a short, fair-haired man with his hat in his hands. He was looking to Wu expectantly. Other villagers stood anxiously behind him.

“What are the orders, sir?” he asked. “Are we moving out?”

Wu stared at them.

Courage. I would tell you courage, but I don’t know anyone braver.

“Yes,” Wu replied. He raised his voice louder. “Spread the word to pack the camp! We make for Birchwood Forest today.”

Ailemi kaybettikten sonra kendi ayaklarım üzerinde durmam gerekiyordu, önce bir iş sonrada iş yerime yakın biyerde ev tuttum. Aslında İstanbul’un birçok semtinde ikamet ettim diyebilirim.

Genelde kız yada erkek arkadaşlarımla aynı evi tuttuk, arkadaşlarımla bir arada olduğumda kendimi yalnız hissetmiyordum. Son olarak Esenyurt bölgesinde iş bulduğumdan dolayı burada kendime bir evde buldum. Açıkcası konuya gelecek olursak kendime hem ev arkadaşı hemde erkek arkadaş aramaktayım. [Fan Account] The Da-iCE a-i Contact Fan Meet Experience!

On 6/8 I went to my very first Da-iCE fan meet, ai-contact 5 ~Fight Back~. Unlike with concerts where I had a good idea of what to expect due to watching all of Da-iCE's concert DVDs, I really had no idea what the fan meet would be like or what the group would do during the event. I was bit worried that it would be 100% talk and I wouldn't be able to follow well, but to my pleasant surprise, a lot of different things happened during the fan meet outside of just talking, and I was able to understand quite a bit of it!

The venue this time was Toyosu PIT, which is somewhat on the small side. There are no higher levels, only the ground floor. I was in the 20th row, which put me closer to the back than the front, but my view was still decent. They also had a few monitors set up, but I didn't really need to rely on those too much throughout the night.

I arrived a bit early to buy merchandise. Da-iCE's fan meets usually have some unique merch options that differ from their tour merch. This year's merch line up included a new lightstick for the group's anniversary year, which I really wanted so I could complete my lightstick collection. I also bought 3 pins for the group-- these are given randomly and you can't choose which member or design you receive. I got I LOVE TAIKI and I LOVE YUDAI pins and one Hayate design as well. Since I love all the members, I don't want to sell or trade, but I may possibly buy some Sota versions from a fan if I can find them at a good price!

For the fan meets, if you buy a copy of the new single, you can also receive a ticket for an event after talk. At the after talk, you can write a question for the members on a slip of paper which they may select to answer. You also receive a random new seating ticket for re-entering the building. I got ticket number #405, which put me around the 10th row, much closer to the stage than my original ticket!

The main event started at 7 PM with a video of the members playing rock-paper-scissors to determine who would be the event MC. Naturally, Sota lost, which meant he would not be participating in any of the games, but would be in charge of directing the members in all their challenges. The very first thing on the agenda would be to choose an event keyword. The staff would keep track of how many times each member used the word and tally it into their final score to determine the event's "winner." The keyword of the event this time was "yabai," a word used in Japanese for many different things. It usually means something like "incredible" or "cool," but it can also mean "dangerous" or even “scary” depending on how you use it. Toru-Yudai-Hayate-Taiki weren't told the key word, but us audience members were shown on a screen.

Right after the key word was selected, my question about whether or not there would be performances was answered as the music to Hayate's solo song "Sunadokei" began to play! I've never seen Hayate perform solo in person before, and let me just say: HE WAS INCREDIBLE! Hayate has said in the past that he doesn't have a lot of confidence in his voice and didn't intend to join the entertainment industry as a singer, but his level of control and stability was quite good for someone who isn't a lead singer! I was so impressed by his delivery!

Next, Sota also got to perform his solo song from Kake Hayabusa, "Owari Aru Tabi". As expected of Sota, the performance was absolutely gorgeous, and he conveyed the emotions of the song powerfully and beautifully.

With these two performances wrapped up, the group started playing games. In the first challenge, the members had to collect fans from the audience using different categories. Hayate had to collect people whose birthday was June 8th. Yudai had to collect people who still used old fashioned flip phones. Toru collected people with a specialized professional license. Taiki collected people who had dice-shaped fashion accessories. Unfortunately, I didn't fill any of the requirements, but the fans who did were taken up onstage and could talk to the members a little bit about their birthday or special items. I couldn't get an exact count, but it looked like Taiki collected the most people, and Hayate the least for this category.

After that, the group played a gesture game. The audience members were shown a word or phrase on the big screen and we would have to mime it for the members to guess. Some were song titles like "You&I" or "Tokyo Merry Go Round," but others were more complicated like the members' radio programs or special events. Toru ended up winning this game, with Yudai coming in last.

After the first two games, we were back to performances! Toru performed his solo song "hitofuyu". Even though it didn't match the summer weather since it's a winter song, he still delivered a great performance. He seemed a little nervous to be performing on his own, but I think he did a good ob overall! The group then got together to perform the 5 vocal, bossa nova version of "HELLO." They've gotten really strong at performing as 5 vocally, so I hope they continue the trend of doing 5 vocal songs in the future!

The next performance was chosen by a fan vote. We had three options: Stay, what you say, and Did You Know? Yudai had a sound level meter, and we were supposed scream "Haaaaaaaaiiiiii!" for the song we wanted them to perform. I originally voted for "what you say", but it tied with "Stay" and we had to revote, so I changed my mind to "Stay" so I could hear Sota's epic high note. "Stay" wound up winning and we received a great performance of the Fight Back era masterpiece. Unfortunately, Yudai made a little mistake in the choreography right when he was at the front of the formation, and we teased him a little for it ^^ When the performance was over, he jokingly hung his head in shame for a bit.

After, the event went live for about twenty or so minutes on SNS-- Da-iCE's Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. We were also allowed to film this portion with our cell phones if we wanted. Da-iCE played a video announcing the release of their upcoming 4th album BET (out August 8!) as well as their upcoming tour beginning in September at Makuhari Messe and ending in January was two days in Osakajo Hall. I was so excited to hear about the album release, but a little upset that I'd miss out on the tour. It's about one month after I'll have moved back to America, and I would have really loved to see it T^T While the live broadcast was still recording, the group also did a performance of new single FAKESHOW.

When the live broadcast shut off, Sota announced the event keyword to the remaining four members and the staff showed the tally of how many times each member had said it. It was a surprisingly small count: Taiki, Toru, and Hayate had each said “yabai” 3 times, while Yudai had only said it twice.

With that final game over, they tallied up the total score. Toru won by a huge margin (his score was 26 and the next highest score was Hayate with 14), and Yudai and Taiki tied for last. Toru's prize for winning was a box of specialty food, while Yudai and Taiki had to do a punishment game of spelling the word "Osakajo" with their butts. It may have been a punishment for them, but it definitely wasn't for us! While Sota was decided what word they would have to spell, they did a little bit of twerking and model posing for us >_< I wish I could have taken a video to share the visual delight, but rules are rules!

The group wrapped up with a relaxed and light hearted performance of TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND where they spent as much time laughing and trolling each other as they did performing. They also threw out signed balls to the fans, but I didn't come close to catching any. Since I was closer to the back, whenever a member threw a ball to our area, it would hit the rafters of the building and fall to the ground.

When the event was over at close to 9 PM, we had to go outside again to re-enter for the after talk. Like I mentioned, I was in row 10, about in the center. For each fan event, different members would be answering the questions, and for our event we had Yudai, Hayate, and Taiki. The after talk was very brief and the boys dug through the questions and pulled out the questions they thought were the most interesting to answer. Unfortunately I was suffering from a bit of a stomachache this point (having taken a two hour walk on a full stomach before the event, bad idea T^T) and my concentration wasn't so good. My brain wasn't very much on what they were saying, since I was just kind of staring dazedly at their faces. Forgive me! The one question I caught was about where they wanted to visit in America-- they said LA and New York, the obvious choices! The after talk went by quite quickly, but it was good to have the chance to see them again, especially since my view was much closer than the original event.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'm so glad I got to go! I really feel like there are no walls between Da-iCE and their fans. They talk to us comfortably, like friends, and aren't afraid to show off all their silly sides. Even though their popularity is increasing, they still feel like the companionable, humble guys they were back when they got started. Every chance I have to see them really makes me so happy inside :D

8th Blog: "Ang Kabastusan ng mga Filipino."

"Makikita mo ang kalagayan ng isang bansa sa sitwasyon ng mga kababaihan." — Maya Santos, National Spokesperson of Gabriela Youth.

Noon, at hanggang ngayon the women's place is at struggle.

Noon pa man, malapit na ang puso ko sa mga kababaihan. Kung kaya't simula noong lumaki ang espasyo't nagkaro'n ako ng pagkakataon makapag-aral sa sintang paaralan, gusto kong sumali sa nag-iisang organisasyong demokratiko sa PUP na naglalayong ipaglaban ang karapatan ng kababaihan; gabriela youth. Lagi ko na noon nakikita si Ate Maya, sa mga walk-out, sa social media, sa kahit saang sulok ng PUP Lagi akong nangangahas, hanggang sa matapos ko ang senior high school na hindi nagiging aktibo. Akala ko wala na, wala ng pag-asa na maging aktibong miyembro. Noong nalaman ko na makakapasok pa ako sa PUP agad akong sumali sa Gabriela Youth, sinabi ko na kapag nagkaroon ng tyansang makadaan sa office. Magfi-fill up ako ng form para sumali. At siguro nga, tadhana na ang sumali ako dahil nagkaro'n kami ng requirement sa isang asignatura na kailangan naming mag-interview at kababaihan ang paksa namin sa ang report. Sa totoong pakiramdam, simula noong sumali ako sa Gabriela, nagsimula akong magising at mamulat sa katotohanan, kung ano nga ba ang tunay na kinahaharap ng mga kababaihan lalong-lalo na rito sa pilipinas. Hindi lang tungkol sa kababaihan ang mga ipinaglalaban ng gabriela, ipinaglalaban din nila ang train law, charter change, free education at kasapi rin kami sa laban bilang anti-marcos. Bago ko simulan ipaliwanag ang mga punto ko, ibinahagi ko lang ang koneksyon ng paksa na ito sa aking sarili. Nag-aral ako, nagsaliksik at nagbasa ng libro.

Sa kasaysayan, itinatala ang mga kababaihan bilang "mahina" at itinuturing bilang parausan lamang, na kailangan lamang ang kababaihan upang magluwal. Hindi ba pwedeng malakas na lang silang pareho, nagpapatunay ito ng repleksyon kung paano tignan ang mga kababaihan. Kagandahan na lang ba talaga ang tingin na kayang ibigay at maiambag?

Sa mga nagdaang interbyu, pagtitipon at panayam samu't saring pasaring ang narinig natin sa ating presidente. Kung ano-anong pambabastos ang natanggap ng mga kababaihan. Katulad ng: "Pagbabarilin n'yo sa Puke." Nagagalit s'ya sa mga militar na nanggagahasa ng kababaihan dahil daw maganda ito at s'ya dapat ang nauna, marami s'yang pasaring at biro tungkol sa mga kababaihan na nagpapatunay na s'ya ang numero-unong macho-pasista't gumagawa ng mga misogynistic acts. Kung ako'y taong antok na antok sa totoong kamulatan, iisipin ko na tama lamang itong kanyang mga sinasabi, na s'ya ay presidente at dapat tayong maniwala sa mga sinasabi n'ya.

Isa pang nakapagtataka na sa pilipinas walang kababaihan ang kasali sa lumaban sa politika, na tumayo para sa sarili nila. Lahat ito'y nag-ugat sa apelido ng kani-kanilang asawa, o pamilya katulad nina grace poe at corazon aquino. Sa ganitong bagay makikita natin na nananatili ang gahum, narito pa rin ang opresyon, maituturing pa ring patriyarkal ang ating bansa.

Bukod pa rito, maraming kabastusan ang mga pilipino na pinapatibay ng gahum. Kabastusan sa wika, kabastusan sa pagiging pilipino at marami pang iba. May mga tinatawag ding utak maka-lalaki na babae, ito ay ang mga babae na kung mag-isip ay parang isang lalaki. Mula sa aking nabasa, itinuturing ang mga kalalakihan bilang primaryang dahilan kung bakit nga ba marginalized o opressed ang mga kababaihan.

Ginagamit ang salitang peminismo bilang paraan upang ipaglaban ang karapatan ng mga kababaihan laban sa abuso, inilulunsad din nito ang pagkakapantay-pantay at ginagamit itong salitang peminismo upang ipakita kung ano ang mga kayang gawin at i-ambag ng kababaihan sa mundong ito at ang salitang peminismo ay hindi lamang tumutukoy, nag-uugat o sinasarili lamang para sa kababaihan. Bukas ito sa mga lalaking handang lumaban para sa karapatan ng kababaihan.

Ang gustong iparating ni Isagani sa kanyang akda na "Ang Kabastusan ng mga Filipino" ay mamulat tayo sa kung ano ang mga kinahaharap ng mga kababaihan sa ating lipunan. Na gumising tayo't baka tayo'y isa na rin sa mga gumagawa ng ganitong bagay. Matagal na pakikibaka na ito, at wala ako at kahit na sino sa amin ang titigil hangga't 'di namin ito nakukuha ng tama dahil hawak ng kababaihan ang kalahati ng langit.

Hindi ka ba nagtataka na noon pa lang ay mayro'n ng opresyon sa kababaihan, simula pa lamang kina adan at eba, isinisi kay eba ang kasalanan, at simula noon nabuo na ang hindi pagkakapantay-pantay.

Hindi ako naniniwala na puke lang ang kayang ibigay ng kababaihan. Magandang talakayin ang ganitong usapin lalo na't talamak ang mga kaso ng panggagahasa't pang-aabuso sa mga kababaihan.

Hanggang kailan isisisi kay Eba ang lahat, hanggang kailan sila ituturing bilang mahina, hanggang kailan sila aabusuhin at hindi pakikinggan?

LEGAZPI CITY – Fourteen former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) from different towns of Sorsogon province who were recipients of livelihood starter kits have expressed deep gratitude to the government for allowing them to start a new life.

The starter kits distributed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday comprised of jigs, tools, and various equipment worth more than PHP250,000.

“With grateful hearts, the rebel returnees thanked the government for their starter kits as they now live free of fear and apprehension and with hopes to start their lives anew,” DOLE-Bicol director Joel Gonzales said in an interview on Friday.

One of the recipients, "Maria” (not her real name), 48, said: “Nakaintra ako sa dati kong grupo dahil sa impluwensya ninda sako. Estudyante pa sana ako, na engganyo na ninda akong mag intra ta sa harong mi mismo sinda nagdadaragos tapos nagkakaraon. Mapagal palan maging sarong rebelde kaya salamatunon tabi saindo ta saro ako sa mga nahatagan nin kabuhayan hali sa DOLE,” she recalled. (I was able to join our underground movement because they influenced me. While I was still a student, they already lured me to join them because they were taking shelter and eat food in our house. It was really very difficult to be a rebel, that’s why I thank you all because I am one of those who were handed with this livelihood assistance from DOLE)."

Another beneficiary, "Jose” (not his real name), 43, a two-year course graduate, had been active in the rebel group for five years before he finally left the armed struggle.

Through the skills training given by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), he was able to secure a certificate for Shielded Metal Arc Welding.

Marilyn L. Luzuriaga, DOLE provincial director of Sorsogon, said “the government through its agencies and units are always willing to help especially for those people who are displaced and marginalized -- DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit is one of them”. (PNA)
