Do you have any music that you associate with any pairings, dynamics, or even just characters from Reverse 1999?

In my case, my sister and I thought that "Lost on You" by LP and "Love Again" by Carly Rae Jepsen fits for Isokania. Its self explanatory.

"As It Was" by Harry Styles kinda of fits the feeling of 37 and 6 being the only ones left and regarding the Apeiron incident. "Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land" by MARINA I saw from an edit and fits the land of Apeiron. Bonus: The singer is half-Greek.

"Requiem" from the Dear Evan Hansen musical felt like it may fit Isolde's feelings towards her brother and his death. Since I feel like their relationship may feel strained at times since he got away with being a playboy and fooling around while she had to exemplify the family legacy. "The State of Dreaming" by MARINA definitely fits Isolde VERY well, just listen and you'll know.

"Better Days" by Mae Muller, NEIKED, Polo G we joked is basically Kakania ft. Semmelweis. Since the singer describes a feeling of hopelessness but still moving forward in life. The more specific lyrics in the song may fit a bit with Kakania's thoughts regarding the specific bad events.

"Good Luck Babe!" by Chappel Roan for our dear Blonney.

There could be more that I could think of but that's all I can think of for now.

I can't believe Good Luck, Babe and Blonney never crossed my mind, she's literally that song 😭

And yes! I do. I have those weird moments where I just put music, dissociate and think about characters so I have a couple of them.

I'll give a listen to the playlist you just sent me during my dissociating sessions.

"365" by Katy Perry is for Blossica, more specifically Jessica's feelings towards Blonney. The whole song truly fits them.

I was also thinking of "Nobody" by Mitski for Blonney, mostly because I believe she changed a lot for people to like her yet no one did, so she felt lonely all the time.

"Cure" in Alien stage and "Bernadette" are, for me, very Isolkania. Also "Eyes don't lie" by Isabel LaRosa but that's on a more romantic undertone than depressing.

I think, ignoring the memes and all that stuff, "Careless Whispers" is very 37phi. Listen. "There's no comfort in the truth, pain is all you'll find" sums up everything pretty well, also because it's about betrayal which is basically what's going on, with romantic undertones that's what I believe their whole relationship was about.

"¿Por qué te vas?" By Jeanette and "Tu tanta falta de querer" by Mon Laferte feels very 37phi as well. One is literally asking 'why are you leaving' and the other wonders when the other person stopped loving her.

Though that one might also apply to Forget-me-not and Druvis III

"Valley of the dolls" by MARINA really reminded me of Isolde, mostly due to lyrics. "I bet on losing dogs" too. A lot of Mitski here.

"Boyfriend" by Dove Cameron reminds me so much of Tennant, I just see her singing it to a lady.

"Nave del Olvido" by Mon Laferte is also what I think of when I'm reminded of the doomed Yuri in this game. Same with "Saturno" by Pablo Alborán.

"Esa hembra es mala" by Gloria Trevi is actually a funny joke I made, I see people talking about Arcana every time I hear that song. "That woman is evil, that woman doesn't love, that woman lies to you" 😭

"Enamorado Tuyo" by Cuarteto de Nos and "I won't say I'm in love" is what I associate with Matilda. You might expect me to say Washing Machine Heart but nah, I'm talking about Matilda's utter rejection for her feelings about having a crush on anyone, not only Sonetto, and her bittersweetness about her relationships.

"Wrecked" by Imagine Dragons is to me, Marcus and Greta. If you have listened to it, you'll get what I mean... Not a smart idea to listen to it right after 1.7

"Line without a Hook" by Ricky Montgomery reminds me a lot of Vernetto, not sure why though.

"My love mine all mine" by Mitski and "I love you so" by The Walters reminds me of Verneider.

I have watched very little of 2.3 but so far I place "Ex de verdad" by Ha-Ash for Caroline and Willow. Listen to it and you'll get what I mean.

Revitalizing Youth Sailing

Dear Inside The Laylines,

Thanks for the opportunity to follow up on the thoughtful “A Parent’s Perspective” article in last week’s newsletter. I’m sure the author’s concerns resonate with many parents of young racing sailors; it also points towards solutions and growth opportunities for US Sailing and the sport. As US Sailing’s Youth Racing Manager and a volunteer on the ILCA-North America Class Association executive committee, I am certainly someone who appreciates your points and is paying attention!

For context, over the last year, several important new staff hires have come on board at US Sailing, which makes this discussion all the more timely. Last fall, Phil Muller joined US Sailing as Youth Performance Manager to focus on the Under-19 age group sailing in the international “performance” youth classes (ILCA, i420, 29er, Nacra15, iQFOiL, Formula Kite), bringing a wealth of experience in skiffs, windsurfing, and all types of foiling. This spring, Rosie Chapman joined as ODP Manager to focus on Olympic class transitions and development for teenage and 20-something sailors after years of success coaching in the US, Canada, the UK, and New Zealand. It’s worth noting that Rosie and Marcus Lynch, US Sailing’s High-Performance Director, are both products of the RYA’s very successful and well-organized system, which has similarities to the USODA program. What I’m most excited about is that these leaders are aligned and focused on their areas of responsibility, and momentum is building.

Gay Male Authors of Gay YA Novels

I have not read all of these authors so I can’t vouch for quality, but here is a list of gay male authors* who have written at least one YA book with a gay male protagonist. I’m linking to their Amazon Author pages. I am sure there are more out there, but I haven’t been keeping up very well with the YA space. I have not read Heartstoppers, but I understand it is supposed to be a heartwarming coming-of-age love story? That is probably the dominant theme in the books these men write (although there are also coming-of-age with unrequited romance or no romance, dystopian thrillers, fantasy, and other genres in the mix.)
