i just don't understand how anyone can be as hypocritical as some marauders fans with their treatment of snape compared to other characters. and i'm not even taking issue with the marauders themselves here, they are flawed and complex but overall good characters, and while i myself don't love them i see why other people do, and i also see why people dislike snape. generally nothing wrong with that.

but then tell me why they are stanning evan rosier? a character we really know nothing about other than that he was a pureblood slytherin who became a death eater? i just do not get it. he didn't even get a redemption like regulus. we know that he died in battle against aurors, as a proud death eater who enjoyed duelling which lets us assume he has probably also killed a person or two along the way, unlike severus.

so, literally how does this make any sense? why do they show grace to every character except for severus? not that i would be a fan of it, but at this point they could just give sev a new fanon personality and make him more likable as they have done with like, every other character in the series. what makes him different from regulus and evan? it could be because they don't like his adult character, but that becomes irrelevant in marauders fanon where every teenaged character is assigned a new personality anyway and apparently adult evan rosier being an active DE doesn't disqualify him either. sooo is he just not aesthetic/attractive enough? i don't want to believe they would be so shallow but at this point what else could it even be?

i'm yapping about this because a person repeatedly, for days now, has been telling me that it is morally wrong and problematic to like snape and that cancelling people for liking him is perfectly reasonable (insanely chronically online statement btw). then i go on their profile and see they're posting positively about rosier et al. and when i point it out they tell me it's fine because his fanon character is different. so... can i headcanon that snape was actually always super sweet and kind and a cinnamon roll who never did anything wrong ever and then it's finally okay to like him? i have no interested in making him that uninteresting, i just wish i could understand this logic.

I write fan fic for the Marauders Fandom (sirius is my everything and I’m also a tall sirius truther) and also Stranger Things but primarily Steddie for that tbh.

I’m also in the Good Omens fandom, as well as a few others more casually and don’t write fic for them :) recently I’ve been starting to watch JJK cause my best friend is really into it

My favorite two movies of all time are Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cars. That probably tells you a lot about me to be honest so do with that as you will :)

My favorite musicians are David Bowie at No. 1 (my lord and saviour), Maya Hawke, Hozier, Radiohead (im not a red flag I promise), Conan (I’m seeing him on fri wtf), ooo and I’ll add SOAD cause I’m really into them this month. But it’s ever changing really and there are too many to choose from, I’d say they’re my most listened to though :) I am chronically listening.

I’m the eldest of 4 kids 💀 one of them is 5 years younger than me 💀💀 the other two are 6 years younger 💀💀💀 (I love them sm the annoying shitstarters)

I love to draw and make art but I suck at anatomy and colour theory it makes me want to rip my hair out (and I wanna be a fan artist so bad)

I lived abroad for a little bit as a teen in Vietnam which was amazing and I’m planning to move somewhere abroad again next year hopefully (seriously get me the hell out of SA)

My biggest dream / goal / career choice for most of my life was to be an actor but now I’m just kinda existing with no real drive or purpose in life. But I might pick acting back up now I’m becoming more comfy with myself and my gender :) my dream role is to play Frank from Rocky.

Severus Snape is one of the most popular character of the Wizarding World, he's been a favorite amongst fans since the very first book came out and his popularity only grew from there, specially after the last book.

About Snape's most popular ships, well... yeah. He's shipped with the main characters of the modern, and the main characters of his era. Snape/Harry and Snape/Hermione (I don't think I've ever met a single Snape/Draco shipper) do not in fact have to be student/teacher stories, a great many of them are not.

If people have an issue with his fanon ships and hate him because of it then frankly they can fuck off and their opinion isn't worth listening to anyway. Because in the end, fanon (which isn't the same as fan content) isn't necessary to enjoy Snape. We have the books, we have the movies.

Marauders fans (the new generation) depend on 95% fanon, because otherwise they have nothing. We love a character that is present in every single book, who is one of the most important characters of the whole story. We don't need to make up shit in order to like him, everything is already there for us.

What I disagree with the most though, and what really made me want to reply, is the claim that we have no Snape content. That's just not true.

We have so many amazing artists who dedicate hours of their time regularly to provide us with content to enjoy, I feel like it's utterly unfair to say that we're lacking in good Snape content, as well as objectively and subjectively wrong. We've had artists create content on Snape for more than 20 years. That's not nothing.

I spend time in a lot of different fandoms, and I can tell you that even some of the most popular anime shows, with extremely popular ships that attract the same generation as the one who has overtaken the Marauders fandom, don't even have a tenth of the quality fanfictions we have.

I've been reading Snape centric fanfictions for over 15 years, they're the only Harry Potter fanfictions I read, and I still find new gems that I had somehow missed in the past. And I'm not talking here about one-shots, but 100k words minimum stories.

We are so lucky and well fed, that whenever I venture out in other fandoms I'm always disappointed because none of them are even comparable to what we have available to us. Obviously I haven't been everywhere and there are many professionnal quality fanfictions all over the internet, but we Snape fans, are blessed with having an unsually high number of them.

The same goes for fan artists, every single week we have people sharing pieces that took them days, weeks and sometimes months to create. If we can't be satisfied with that, then frankly we don't deserve to have them.

Lastly, we have one thing that the Marauders fandom does not, and can not have. Meta writers. People who write essays worthy of being published, studying Snape under every possible angle. They provide us with new interpretations of certain scenes or events, remind us of sometimes less known parts that we'd forgotten, or dwelve deeper into his thought process and motivations to a point where I'm sure even Rowling didn't even go.

So yeah, long story short... we have lots of great Snape content. It's out there, ready for us to consume. Also, who gives a fuck if TikTok addicted Marauders stans like Snape or not. If those brainrotted chronically online people can loathe a character and his fans because of fanfictions or fanon then to be honest we're better off without them. Let them live in their corner of the fandom, slap them off our own corner if they try to get closer, and we'll all be much better off this way.

after all, in terms of fan content, snape pales in comparison to what other characters (golden trio, marauders) have.

what little content there is of him isn’t well spoken of his character: ie. snarry being his most popular ship, as well as other ships with mainly minors (hermione, draco etc)

it makes sense that given his most popular ships are with children, people easily create those sick and nonsensical rumors of “if harry had been a girl severus would have [redacted] her” and made baseless accusations of him based on what they’ve read in fanfiction where he’s used as a convenient villain to project the worst characteristics onto (homophobia, sexism, misogyny, racism, any -ism under the sun really)

and since this recent surge of fans have no interest in reading the source material on characters they enjoy, and there are barely any fanon content (fanfic etc.) solely centered on severus as a main character, he can very easily be hated no matter how many book quotes we throw at people to debunk it

it’s like marketing.

you have the pitch (book), product (character), and advertising (fanon content). without the last bit, there isn’t a single way your product can sell.

and unfortunately for severus, we’re severely lacking in good content of him
