so. i have been saying since the top of the season that this feels like a reset, and a reintroduction to the characters (which makes sense for a new network!)—i know others have talked about to being a transitional and setup season as well, which i agree with.

ive been thinking about parallels and mirrors and what it might mean to overlay season seven over season four, the things that could possibly imply…

(self indulgent honorable mention parallel: eddie’s blood in buck’s mouth, tommy’s soot on buck’s lips)

season four is the only other non-pilot season to have less than the full 18 episodes. season four is also the only season that ends on a life-altering arc-beginning injury for a member of the 118 (which also makes sense for a shorter than usual season, big hook to make up for the fewer episodes).

at the end of season four, eddie and bobby both end up dramatically injured (sniper). the end of season four also has the first mention of the will. now, i cannot say for sure that either of these are going to be mirrored, BUT. looking at the roadmap they’ve already given us… i have some feelings and predictions :)

and i’m not even going to begin digging into the vertigo references, others have more eloquent things to say, but i wanted to at least mention it because i DO think it’s going to come into play…

(if you can think of any other 4/7 parallels i would LOVE to hear them)

Re your “what was the point of bringing Gerarrd back” post: it’s so maddening that it honestly makes me wonder if there was a better plan in the S7 writers room that got pivoted due to studio notes like maybe the network didn’t want to touch anything that might be too “woke” (or just Tim getting distracted by Brad, who tf knows)

Like i know this show just doesn’t plan things, but it’s weird how very planned it seemed right up until that plan went nowhere fast and it would make the dropping of pretty much all the S7 plot lines (all connected to Gerarrd) make more sense if someone on high just demanded they kill it quickly and without fanfare

The interconnectedness of Tommy explicitly referencing how Gerrard is just like his father, the setup for the mystery of how Gerrard got put back at the 118 that was supposed to be answered with the reveal that Gerrard and Ortiz are somehow friends, that Buck has never worked under any captain BUT Bobby. The idea that Buck would be treated as the golden boy until Buck comes out to Gerrard, or the idea of Buck and Tommy having conflicting opinions on whether he should come out to Gerrard and that being Baby’s First Homophobia. The interplay with Gerrard being a military style man and Eddie’s history with the military. Up to and including 801, it looked like all of that was set up perfectly and then 802 was extended into two episodes and that was fine at the time but then 804 was very clearly written to be two episodes that got drastically shortened into one to make room for the stretching of 802 and 803 (which IMO wasn’t necessary. If you cut out one of the passenger emergencies and the drama with the copilot waking up and then having a heart attack and just land the plane at the airstrip instead of the freeway, and maybe even cut the final shootout over the black book, then you wouldn’t have had to do another episode.) and then so much of Hotshots and Wannabes is taken up by Brad’s stupid little storyline when they could have left him behind in 804 to focus on expanding Eddie’s storyline with Fr. Brian to help pave the way for Eddie’s decision to move

If I was planning out the 8 episode half season it would have gone

801-802: Plane disaster

803-804: Mara storyline Gerrard is actually still out of commission for more than a day and doesn’t come back until 804 at which point it’s revealed he was in cahoots with Ortiz. Hen is the one who records Ortiz instead and Gerrard goes down with Ortiz as an accomplice. The court drama lasts more than one single scene

805: Bobby’s back! still the cute little Halloween episode, instead of hurting Denny though, we focus on HenRen the drama over PTO. This is meant as a breather before the breakup and Eddie storylines

806: have the breakup be about Buck’s uneasiness being Queer In Public, using Picture Girl and Hot Waiter as a compare and contrast flashpoint instead of Abby. Keep the Glee speech but have the breakup be about how Buck keeps rushing headlong in but can’t say the word bisexual apparently. If Buck can’t acknowledge Tommy as his boyfriend to Picture Girl then how can he be ready to move in? Make it about Buck and Tommy as people, not a contrivance that Tim stole from a video he watched once.

807: this is where Eddie should have first started thinking about moving and he should have a conversation with Hen about losing Nia and nearly losing Mara as well and then one with Maddie (or about Maddie through Chim if you combine it with previous convo) about missing some of Jee’s milestones that convinces him he doesn’t want to miss any more of Chris’s life. Fr Brian should play some role in this decision too so he can discuss his thought process.

808: the moving reveal happens early in the episode, just as Buck has slowed down on baking and it immediately ramps up again. He takes the products to Maddie and they have a coded conversation about people leaving him (Maddie thinks they’re talking about Tommy until the end of the scene when Buck tells her it’s about Eddie) inadvertently foreshadowing Maddie’s kidnapping. We end on Buck basically begging Eddie not to leave in an Emotionally Charges Scene that is Up To Interpretation. Eddie at some point asks “is this really about what’s best for me and my family or is it about something else?” Because perpetual martyr Eddie can’t believe something is actually about him and then as Buck leaves he gets a text from Tommy “Can we talk?” It says. Cut to black before we see if he answers.

What's your opinion about how long the show will go on for?

Lots of people think ABC will try to turn it into another Grey's and milk it until it's dry. Others think as soon as anyone from the main cast leaves, the show is done.

I personally believe that with the successful move to ABC, the show is safe until at least Season 10 as it is (barring some unexpected event). I do believe if anyone is leaving first is either Peter or Angela or both due to age and salaries becoming too high. But unlike many people, I think if Peter and Angela left, the show could curvive another couple of years, provided the rest of the main cast remained.

I just don't see it going on for as long as Grey's or Chicago Fire or whatever, based alone on how the TV industry as changed because of streaming. I give it 12 or 13 seasons tops.

I believe it was after last season, Peter said he had a few more years in him. And Angela's twins just went off to college so based on those two things I can see it hitting 12 seasons and comfortably coming to a close. I'm fine with 10, but idk 12 just sounds nice 😆

Like, personally, I want 12 seasons because I'm selfish. I want to see Buck get married and explore having children. I also want him to move up in his career. I want to see Christopher graduate, and we should hit that milestone by season 12. I would love to see Eddie go on a full self discovery for an entire season and into another, where the next step for him ultimately leads him to either meeting a new potential LI or perhaps finding something he's passionate about that he never tried before.

I want to see Maddie step up into Josh's position while he steps into Sue's as she ultimately retires. I'd love for Chim and Maddie to maybe discuss having another child too.

Hen and Karen's path would be similar to Eddie's in having Denny graduate, and idk I'd love it if he wanted to work in a field that works with foster children. Mara had a ton of potential but we don't know her very much so no idea there.

Bobby and Athena need to just manage to go on a vacation and not almost die 🤣

Description: Hi! I was reading your Blade's child reader story and was wondering what happened when the reader was born and how their life was life before their mother was killed by Mara struck

Notes: Recovered in conjunction with an anonymous researcher, we thank them for their contributions. This kind of turned in to some general headcanons on reader's mother and her relationships with people, not just her kid.

So, the original story “Fate” implies Blade didn’t know about the kid

The reason for this is that reader’s mother knew that nothing good would come from him knowing

Reader’s mother ended things with Blade while she was pregnant, knowing she wanted to keep the child and wanting to save herself and Blade the pain of whatever decision he made

Even if Blade wanted to be a part of his child’s life it would be dangerous both because he’s a terrorist, a fugitive specifically on the Luofu, and because he’s mara struck

She definitely spoke fondly of him though, never let reader feel like he’d abandoned them but made it clear that he would not be a part of their life

When reader meets Blade in “fate”, they don’t immediately jump to the conclusion of him being their father partly because they’re caught up in the mention of their mother and partly because they didn’t think he’d come back

Anyways, reader was young when their mother died

Probably somewhere between 5 and 7

Jing Yuan was definitely very distantly a part of  reader’s life, by this point he was divorced and his kid was an adult with their own earnings

So he would send reader’s mother money and gifts that would be “from her”

Reader’s adoptive parents were friends with their mother, and Jing Yuan continued the gifting tradition with them

The sword was the first gift “from him”, though it was anonymous

Their mother actively tried to learn about where Blade was from during her pregnancy and would sing reader songs from his planet

Keeping Blade out of Reader’s life was entirely her choice, but she wouldn’t deny her child any connection to their lineage

Sometimes, out of her own grief of her relationship with Blade, she would show her infant pictures of him and say “this is your dad”

Though for her safety she’d never taken pictures with him, so the pictures were only ones on the news or his wanted posters

But she stopped once reader turned a year old, worried they might remember and try looking for him

Also, she kept a careful record of reader’s milestones with lots of pictures incase Blade every learned of their existence 

It wouldn’t make up for her decision, but it lessened her guilt

That guilt is also why reader’s mother never moved on

On one hand she was busy raising reader and on the other she felt it wouldn’t be fair to let someone else raise reader without even giving Blade the chance

Reader and their mother’s life was very simple and loving, just with a lot of secrets on the mother’s part

Hello, I'm still here! 👋 Haven't played that much yet (busy with lots of other things), but I've experienced the chaos of 4 small children, a sleepover and lots of quirks and milestones. 🫣I also collected all the login event rewards, though I had to wait till June 13th (?) to start collecting.

In the meanwhile here are some excerpts from my current Abbott family tree (from the My Family Tree app), focussed on our current main Sim: Devin Abbott. I also have a pic of the full family tree, starting from Kendall, but that one is 47496 x 1925 pixels. 🫣The whole tree has 500 individual Sims in it at the moment. 😲It's also becoming a bit of a mess in the app at this point, so it seems I'm stretching the limits of what this app can handle. We'll see.

On another note: I did see the trailer of the Lovestruk EP. An interesting EP, I must say! We'll have to see how it works out when it's released (with regards to bugs etc), but I feel like this one will become the #1 pack I'd want to have (of all the packs, kits etc I haven't bought yet). I think I'll wait until Devin and Mara's kids are old enough to join the dating pool however. That'll be a while since the firstborn (Amada) is still a toddler ingame. I'd expect that the pack will probably have had its first discount by the time I'm ready to buy it. We'll see how long it takes... 😉And maybe the pack is interesting enough to buy earlier. 🙂

Happy 900!!!! Ummm Marauders maybe? but if you think someone else fits better I assure you I don’t mind.

Where to start, i’m pretty quiet, like very very soft spoken until im really comfortable in a room. Once I know someone I’m still quiet in volume but then i can talk for at least 15 minutes straight without losing my rhythm and i get very very animated, lots of facial expressions, too many hands waving around. I like reading but I can’t call myself a bookworm because I take too long to finish them and usually give up so i’m more of a book dragon. I love writing and art and being creative and I love to learn but i hate to be graded. My favorite color is burgundy and my favorite season is whatever one it currently is until the very end and i’m sick of it, then i like whichever one is coming next. I like to collect things and i’m way too sentimental. I like rain and leather jackets and i don’t know if you want any physical attributes but im short enough that literally everyone comments when i wear tall shoes (i have platform doc martins with a heel so it’s only like 4 inches which i guess is a lot over all but even then Im only up to like 5’6-‘7 barely) And my hair is stuck an almost auburn color because I dyed it dark plum/burgundy in november and now the final claws of goldish red are dug in and i don’t see it letting go, which is especially annoying because my roots are returning much lighter than i last remember but I’ve been dying my hair since at least last June so i don’t know what I really expected. I have identity crises over my hair at least every other week.

In terms of how I love people it’s very much however it works with that person. I like when people like to pay attention to me and look for me in a room and that kind of thing, I also really like to be held and have my hair played with,,,,i find dogs very relatable (but don’t let that sway your decision in anyway, do what your heart tells you)

I’m sure 900 people leads to a lot of asks, but i have no idea, so please take your time and don’t feel rushed or obligated at all. I am so proud of this milestone for you and i’m so proud of all the people coming to their senses to appreciate such a talented spirit like you 💖💖💖

to me, her character is very laid back, but secretly she's so passionate. like, she pretends she doesn't care, but really secretly does. she would adore all the things you collect, and will listen to anything you have to say about them. she'd still have to lean down to kiss you. she would say, "really? new hair again, mara?" and then she would whisper to you, "it's cute, makes your eyes pop." because nobody can know that she adores anybody, until you become official. then, she can't stop talking about you. she will read books to you as you lay your head on her lap, hair being played with. she would dance with you in the rain. she would steal your jacket because it smells like you, and because it means everybody knows you're hers. she would sit and listen to you rant/ramble/infordump and watch lovingly as your mouth moves a mile a second and your tongue gets all twisted. she would hang up your art, proudly displaying it as to say: "yeah, my girlfriend? they're perfect, and talented, and beautiful, and look at this art they made." she would kick someone's teeth in for you, and she winks at you during her quidditch games, loving how much you blush; stark red in the sea of green.
