Season of Change: An Update

Hi! I have only been lurking on Tumblr for the last six months due to low creative drive. I am finally feeling recharged, though, and want to start out by offering an open thank you to everyone that posts about their FFXIV characters, whether it is stories, inspo, or screenshots. I really love the game but that is largely thanks to the wonderful rp community I have observed.

I am also making this post because there will be some changes to this account. This weekend I plan to update the pinned character list to better represent the ones I write most consistently (as of late). I also plan to change my account icon, which I know can throw people off. I am even considering a handle change, but haven't settled on anything. I am mostly just checking in, though, since the changes will likely be subtle and matter very little to most people.

Thank you all, again, for being so awesome and sharing your characters with Tumblr. I love them!

I really can't imagine playing without all the amazing CC and mods out there. I feel the game wouldn't be as popular without them!

Playing this game wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable without all of you. I love the edits, the CC, the mods, the stories, the characters, the builds, and the townies you all make and share.

Thank you, for making my obsession with this buggy ass game a lot more fun and fulfilling.

i love finding poetry in the mundane, and yesterday i stumbled upon something that just hits that spot

So, my partner has an old phone- It served them for many years now, but it has one issue: Charging it is hard. Their current charger is hanging on by a thread (literally), and can barely do its job. The phone and the charger came together: They've never used another charger for said phone.

Now, they've tried to replace the charging cord several times. But it doesn't matter how much they've searched what damned specific charger the phone uses, none of them work. They finally decided to bring it to a phone shop and ask what should they use.

The guy at the shop looked at the phone for a bit, and explained: "The port itself is broken. The charger you have works with this phone because they've mutually broken each other into the same shape, in a way that no other charger is shaped. The port itself has corroded in a way that only accepts the charger that shaped it like that in the first place."

And while this is of course a frustrating situation for my partner, I feel like there's a metaphor here. I could write a goddamn story about this. These two half-broken old things have been together for so long they've destroyed each other in a way that keeps them from working with anything else. They've hurt each other in a way that barely keeps them functioning together, and have been rendered useless with literally anything else.

Fun game for Pride Month:

When you're at a event, count how many people with mobility aids there are. If it seens low, think about why that might be. Count how many disabled bathrooms. Count how many unavoidable steps. Try and find one accessibility issue at the event and afterwards contact the organisers to ask them to fix it.

Many disabled queer people are left out of the Pride month celebrations due to accessibility issues, so if you're able to be there, you're already in a position to make it better.

Don't forget your disabled siblings this Pride!

OC: Vinnie Gallo & Macha Richter // one year of VP // 2023

I'm emotional about this, of course. 2023 is the year I discovered VP and became part of this fandom.

I started my blog in December of 2022 and it was mainly a Viktor Vektor simp blog by then.

I was playing the game as Vinnie by this time; after I had done 4 full playthroughs, basically as variations of Macha (so fem corpo netrunners hahah) and I wanted to switch up my playstyle and also get to know the male voice actor. Hence: Vinnie. Never, in a million years, would I have expected what happened after that.

In January I started posting Vinnie on here and it's all been downhill from there - for my brainrot that is. It is not only well installed by this point, it has taken over big parts of my life.

BUT! The important thing is not the rot, or the VP or the re-found freedom in creating something that is so dear to me. I am going to be sappy, you have been warned, but if you are reading this far you already know where I am going with this and it will not surprise you. The important things are the friends I made along the way. I never thought that I could form connections like this, via a niche hobby, just through written words and pictures. Real love, being seen and seeing others, that is the true gift this year has given me and I will be forever grateful for it having this much of an impact on me and my life.
