It seems to me both authors of each post have different interpretations on Naruto's double suicide promise, I mean since I'm just seeing an excerpt of the first post, I can't tell that well what are they trying to say. But I from what I'm seeing, I agree with the first post. Naruto is indeed saying if Sasuke really wants to destroy Konoha and kill Naruto to finally be alone like he says he will, then Naruto is talking about a clash. Naruto told Itachi and Sasuke that if the latter wanted to destroy Konoha he would have to intervene to stop him but wouldn't kill him because he believed he could save Sasuke but he's also telling Sasuke "either I save you or we both die" because he's not letting him succumb to darkness and be all by himself living a lonely existence but at the same time Naruto has never had the intention of killing Sasuke and living to tell it, because he doesn't consider Sasuke an enemy but his closest bond.

As for the second post, I'm bored by the same anti-naruto arguments Sasuke stans regurgitate "Naruto is being abusive and forcing himself onto Sasuke"

This is such a superficial shallow reading of the text and the worst part is that this type of Sasuke stans feel so smart saying this stupid bullshit.

I'm not going to delve to deep in how Kishimoto is taking inspiration from Chikamatsu Monzaemon and overall Japanese literature of the 18th century for the double suicide stuff, I've already written about it and linked other very good posts [LINK]

But anyway

Naruto is not trying to erase Sasuke's identity, that user is reaching so fucking hard or they are stupid as fuck. Naruto knows they've both been ostracized, oppressed and traumatized by the ninja world due to their status as jinchuuriki and Uchiha, he's telling Sasuke about a dream he has where they could live in a world where they can be happy not having been through the events that hurt them so much. I think Kishimoto's writing is very clear on that.

I love how they don't say what's the solution to Sasuke's problem at all. But anyway, even Naruto is not proposing dying as a solution to Sasuke's problems, he literally approached him first with understanding and empathy for what Sasuke's been through then when Sasuke asked him why he cares so much for him Naruto says "because we're friends" and says he will stop Sasuke from destroying Konoha and they will fight *like Sasuke wants* but he's not going to kill him not let himself be killed, because like I said, Naruto's idea is reconciliation and as last resource both of them dying, not that they will both simply die.

This annoying mf is pissing me off, like just making shit up. Naruto is not centering himself in Sasuke's life, when he said the "meeting in the afterlife" he's talking about how in this world they crossed paths through suffering *for being Jinchuuriki and Uchiha* and that's why they're both struggling in the situation they are (mostly Sasuke). Naruto is saying that in the afterlife where they'll meet, because they are not Jinchuuriki and Uchiha, their meeting will be different, they won't have to separate like they did at VoTE1, Sasuke won't feel the need to cut off those who care about him, it'd be a healthier life, and I think this is also pretty fucking clear in the text.

It's just baffling to me how Sasuke stans see Sasuke go through the worst mental breakdown of his life, abandoned by everyone who once knew him and then see Naruto, the only person that has unconditional love for him, that hasn't lost hope on him, that is the only person that has offered him words of compassion by telling him "Sasuke, I get it" after everyone else said there was no salvation for him, but also tell him "I'm not killing you because you're the most important person in my life and I'm not letting you killing me because I'm not letting you live alone so you can be in the misery you think you ought to" and they still see him as an evil manipulator. Naruto is not trying to brainwash Sasuke, he's answering the fucking question Sasuke asked.

Like maybe if those dumb mf dropped the internet communist revolutionary act for two seconds, they would understand Sasuke is being very self-destructive and suicidal here and Naruto is the only one offering him understanding but also being very firm he's not going to let Sasuke hurt himself more, which is how you're supposed to be when someone is struggling mentally and emotionally.

As Kishimoto said, losing your friend is akin to losing your own identity. By killing Naruto, Sasuke is hurting himself and Naruto is the only one who sees right through that and says "Nope, I'm not allowing that to happen"

Well, (Story time buckle up everyone) when I first watched the show at 7 I was a hard-core LeeSaku shipper, and when i got into the show again at maybe 12 I was actually disappointed to learn that SasuSaku was canon, I kinda hated Sasuke Xp I KNOW BETTER NOW THOO

When I got into the show again NaruHina was my favourite ship, but over time I started getting more and more obsessed with Sakura, she was like my ultimate favourite then,,, so along with her came my blooming fixation on SasuSaku. I've never actually read a NaruHina fanfic before but I've read... so so many SasuSaku ones.

It became my ultimate favourite tho after i started using tumblr last year, I started to learn more about Sasuke and look deep into his character and I realised how genuinely tragic he is. And then i got really fucking mad. Like??? I've never been so pissed at Kishimoto. Like they're the two most important side characters and he couldn't even do anything apart from some eye contact a thank you and a forehead poke??? (Altho im NOT mad about that poke it was cute as hell he may as well just have proposed) Oh and don't get me started on how they had a baby at NINETEEN. I mean it's Sasuke. There's such an immense amount of trauma there I cant imagine him being able to start a family so soon. Kishimoto when I catch you, how can one man write such a perfectly traumatised character like Tsunade and then create Sasuke. Like wtf bro made the most complex character he could and absolutely fumbled the finish line. Sorry but Sasuke is NOT getting over allat after a couple of years in a forest. Give him more time Like please 😭😭

All this is to say that as much as I absolutely adore SasuSaku i think its my green light at the end of the road typa ship. I love what it could be, rather than what it is. Not too big a fan of the canon because honestly what is there to be a fan of? Obv I love them canon and fanon but yk.

Today we're thinking about how Itachi's Sasuke Management Plan was always controlling him through genjutsu, and what that means about Sasuke's lack of free will through the entire series.

Sometimes when I'm making myself sad I like to think about the fact that for the entirety of part one Naruto and over half of Shippuden, the only Sasuke that we know is a Sasuke that has been manipulated by someone to do what they want him to do / be a weapon on their behalf.

I will never stop saying that I think Naruto's narrative of excusing Konoha for their racism and literal genocide, and tearing Sasuke's character to have him go back and actively serve that very same system that never really changed or was acknowledged; ALL WHILE trying to convince the audience that the way Itachi handled it was right and Sasuke's anger over it was wrong is bullshit.

Was Sasuke right for deciding to try and take out the entire village? Nah. But he WAS right to be angry and he lost his mind for good reason, and i don't know why it was pushed aside just to have Naruto be right / the one to 'save' him when he would of been just as angry on his behalf.

Propaganda: I mean cmoooonnn, Orochimaru was literally obsessed with Sasuke the entire show! The way he was constantly talking all seductively to Sasuke, trying to lure Sasuke to his side so he could steal his body...and it worked! Partially! Sasuke was literally on Orochimaru's side for 2 years and we kinda have no clue what happened during that time frame. They were both mutually using each other and just so so toxic it was great. Sasuke even resurrected Orochimaru despite all of that. And even after Orochimaru got "redeemed" in Boruto they still have some tension.

Stop saying "Killua vs Sasuke" and "They would hate each other" as if Sasuke wouldn't have THE BIGGEST crush on Killua.

12-year-old Sasuke is looking at this super powerful, cool guy his age, who could easily kill most high-ranking shinobi, and he's absolutely lost. Whipped.

Killua doesn't know what's going on, he's just chilling and sometimes this emo boy comes to talk to him in the most awkward way possible before he runs away and Killua just stands there like "Huh???🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️"

I know it’s more to do with Kishimoto’s lack of interest in expanding her character, but I can’t help but think how easy Sakura gave up on Sasuke.

Naruto was always adamant that he was going to save him, Kakashi struggled against saving Sasuke and fulfilling his shinobi duties however he never fully let himself believe Sasuke was gone.

Sakura initially is against Sasuke being any type of villain and like Naruto, is adamant in saving him. She then finds out about him being a member of the akatsuki and her faith waivers to the point where she thinks she needs to kill him because he’s a danger to the village and went through with trying to kill him as well.

It created another layer of misunderstanding from Sakura’s view of Sasuke. If she felt grounded in her love, and really believed her love was enough to change him and save him then she wouldn’t have lost faith then tried killing him.

It’s another reason why their romantic relationship doesn’t work but it does make their platonic relationship and Sakura as a character more complex

one of the funniest things about Itachi and Sasuke is that they are BOTH so 'I love it when people play mind games with me. I will kill us both <3' coded likkkke!!

His FATHER spent Itachi's whole life grooming him to lead a coup and become the first Uchiha Hokage, and Itachi spent every second he could undermining that and then eventually has no choice but to kill him! Danzo (and Hiruzen) backed Itachi into a corner and made him do the unthinkable, so Itachi made a 10 year plan for his own death and fully intended to murder Danzo if he ever tried to pull some shit with Sauske village be damned, and THEN Sasuke finding out about the whole situaiton IS what killed Danzo in the end, and it WASN'T EVEN PART OF ITACHI'S PLAN!! Obito got so angry at this 6 year old for being an optimist and a pacifist that he killed his teammates and then actively assisted the kid in an ethnic cleansing to break Itachi's spirit and make him an ideal pawn for the Akatsuki, and Itachi just! Got super depressed (again, 10 year death plan) and hated his guts and starts dissociating whenever Obito talks!! He delays the Akatsuki's plans by years because Obito is now nervous to directly attack Konoha while Itachi's still breathing! and he's STILL spying for Konoha and Obito is either willfully ignorant because he thinks Itachi is a lame party pooper or too scared to do anything about it!!

And Sasuke???? SASUKE!!! Spends his ENTIRE LIFE under the thumb of people who think they know him and how to manipulate him and are wrong EVERY TIME! Orochimaru thinks his thirst for power is so all consuming that he doesn't care about himself or anything else outside of killing Itachi and is thus incapable of independant scheming or betrayal, and he gets KILLED FOR IT! Obito makes the SAME damn mistake he made with Itachi and underestimates Sasuke because he thinks that he's so broken by his brother's fate that he's suseptible to any and all suggestion, and Sasuke doesn't give a FUCK about ANYTHING besides his own plans anymore, and is absolutely just going to do whatever he thinks is right until it inevitably kills him, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised it Obito was on his hitlist- and, at the end of the day, Obito DOES end up dead!! Gaara tries to empathize but is still learning empathy so instead Sasuke just feels like his LITERAL GENOCIDE is being trivialized, and ALMOST dies for it! Danzo assumes he's just another corrupted wayward Uchiha, and gets KILLED FOR IT! Kakashi thinks that Sasuke is Just Like Him For Real and thus he knows that Sasuke is beyond saving and must die, and gets ALMOST killed for it and then proven WRONG!! Literally ALL of the fucking HOKAGE try to plea for Konoha's legitimacy and lie like DOGS using all of their politician plays of why Sasuke should Stop, and he calls bullshit on all of it anyway! Sasuke spent his entire young life getting passed around like a hot potatoe between men projecting their own trauma onto him and convincing themselves that they know his every move because they once were him, but NO ONE has EVER been doing it like Sasuke and none of them accounted for the fact that he's so scared of everything and full of love and never wrong and not afraid of death or any of them and they've been dead since Sasuke decided they were annoying!!

Naruto and Sakura were only able to get through to him at ALL because Naruto lacks the decorum to be manipulative and thus Sasuke can engage with his bullheaded arguments without feeling actively hunted (like he HAS BEEN his WHOLE LIFE) and Sakura actually DOES understand him and his motivations and his soul in it's entirety because she spent their adolescence studying him like a bug, so she can meet him EXACTLY where he's at. The only person in the world who ever successfully manipulated Sasuke was Itachi, which makes sense considering he mastered the art of it FIRST!!

it's kind of funny that I finished my Naruto read going "oh my god....Naruto and Sasuke are in love....." but it turns out I don't really like most SNS fan content and all my fic reading time is spent on epics about Sakura getting good at punching stuff or Itachi being a little weirdo

a fundamental thing people ignore about itachi is that his goals arent just making hate the only thing in sasuke’s mind but he also means for sasuke to center his life around HIM. its actually more twisted everyones gives him credit for. he didnt just told sasuke to hate and chase him, he manipulated him to kiII sasuke’s best friend. this puts sasuke in a position where sasuke had to choose to either commit and kill his best friend which would’ve had sasuke feel like he’s no different of itachi (since in sasuke still thinks itachi killed his best friend for power) or do what he ultimately tried to do which is put distance between himself and others leaving itachi as he only person he has left even if he hates him. and as if this was not enough when itachi comes back and realizes immediately that sasuke has managed to actually form a close relationship to the point he goes running to face him when itachi goes after naruto, itachi’s first instinct is to torture sasuke and reminded him of the hatred and of him, remind him he’s still out there forcing sasuke to push everyone away again and once again put all his focus on itachi. itachi himself has nothing or no one left besides sasuke and he’s very much aware of this fact but it seems like—consciously or unconsciously—he also wants to be the only thing in sasuke’s life
