Meowths are supposed to be quadruple.

You almost never see a Meowth outside of Team Rocket's, I know, but it so annoying.

The way it progressively started standing on two legs in both art and in the games

The fact Alolan Meowth and Galarian Meowth are both bipedal for some reason???

I can let Galarian Meowth slide because it's a viking or whatever but Meowth and Alolan Meowth have no excuse.

All they did was make TR Meowth less unique. A talking Pokemon? 😧. No do you know how many psychic types there are? Who needs to talk when mind reading exists.

Meowth taught himself to act human not just talk.

What made Meowth so interesting was he taught himself to walk and talk and yet one of his biggest talents gets glossed over and then completely devalued by making all Meowth bipedal (or at least appear that way in the games and artwork)

Assigning Cat Pokémon to the Nekoma Players

Kuroo - Meowscarada Saw it's official art and instantly thought of this scene from Summer of Evolution, take one look at that dramatic mf and tell me Kuroo wouldn't want one instantly. They're both tricky guys who bait their opponents into attacking before pulling the rug out from under them. The smug aura is off the charts.

Kai - Delcatty Calm and nonconfrontational but reliable, both of these guys are relatively normal compared to everyone else but well loved by those around them. Delcatty's pokedex entry in sapphire says it just moves away instead of fighting, much like how Kai leaves Yaku and Kuroo to do their thing when their fights get heated

Yaku - Zeraora Quick, nimble, powerful— these two are both incredibly strong despite their size. You can always count on them to get there in time. I wasn't gonna give anyone mythicals or legendaries but if anyone deserves it it's Yaku.

Tora - Incineroar Obviously Tora gets the Litten line, its mid evolution is literally called Torracat. Can you name a pokemon with more guts than the big manly WWE tiger?? I didn't think so. They're both shouting constantly and hyping themselves up while also being supportive towards the people around them. Loudest mfs in the room but you love them nonetheless.

Kenma - Meowstic Knew I wanted to give Kenma a psychic type since he's all about mind games and Meowstic was the perfect canidate. The both play more of a supporting role on the team but can be super agressive, all with a blank face. Also they have similar vibes visually.

Fukunaga - Meowth The natural choice since both are based on maneki-neko, look at the joy and whimsey!! Silly little guys who's eyes sparkle when they get excited.

Inuoka - Boltund The sole dog among a sea of cats, bros just happy to be included. Decided on Boltund because of it's boundless energy, they can keep going for days without loosing a sweat. Also look at it's little smile!! Very Inuoka indeed.

Lev - Luxio (?) I'm conflicted on this one but I don't know what else to go with (curse you Lev for being an enigma). It's abilities are rivalry and intimidate, much like how Lev picks a fight with like half his team + hinata and how his height intimidates most people he comes across. I went with Luxio over Luxray since he still has a lot of room to grow but he's a determind guy with big aspirations (again, this one is a strech lol).

Shibayama - Litleo Like Lev I chose the preevolution because Shibayama has a lot to live up to, what with Yaku being the current libero. Small, cute, and reliant on his teammates for now but one day he'll step out from of the shadow of his predecessor and become his own player

Teshiro - Espurr I know this is technically a repeat since I gave Kenma Meowstic but c'mon, just look at that cold, dead stare. Blank-faced dudes with more internal struggles than meets the eye.

Headcannoning that the reason you can find Pikachu in any region is that while they're native to the archipelago of Kanto, Johto, hoenn, sinnoh, and the sevii and orange islands, people from those areas kept Pikachu as a good luck charm (like maneki-neko, yes I know that's the design basis for Meowth but heat me out). Merchants and servicemen would entice Pikachu to their storefronts to keep their shops clean and scare any bug Pokemon that could be a health hazard. Due to Pikachu's often gentle and loyal attitude, they came to be a common sight, being "employed" on ships, and spreading all throughout the world.

What I'm saying is that Pikachu is the Pokemon world equivalent of a bodega cat.

GARFIELD is more cat than Meowth

Meowth - that’s right! - really doesn’t look that much like a cat when you look at it. The slit eyes and ears and arguably the paws are doing a lot of the heavy lifting there, and don’t really get there in my opinion. Meowth looks almost less like a cat than Garfield does. But it’s also not really based on a cat as such, it is based on the beckoning cat, the maneki neko, from Japanese folklore, who is connected with wealth (hence the coin on its forehead) and good luck. So more of a yokai, I think, than an actual animal.

At least until it evolves into Persian, which just straight up looks like a puma. Or Alolan Persian which looks like… Garfield. Alolan Persian is interesting though in that it's based off human-made cat breeds and their weird anatomy, tying into the Alolan region's general theme of exploring the human impact on the animals around us.

Gigantamax Meowth, which is straight up a longcat meme, interestingly looks more catlike than the base-form, since its proportions are perversely more cat-like when enlongated.

So yeah, Meowth is a nice little pokémon design, but not that great of a cat design.

We'll tackle Galarian Meowth when we get to Perrserker.

Obey Me! Pokemon Teams

All of this was made using the pokemon trainer card makers on pokecharms.com. i couldn't fit this all in one post partly bc of explanations. But mostly be of the 10 pic max. Badges don't mean anything they're just there to look cool. eggs are in the second card, because the latest gen hasn't been added to the classic card maker.

I spent way too much time (5 hours) looking at Pokemon and making teams then making the cards and sometimes completely redoing the cards but i have no regrets. Please enjoy!

Slowpoke - originally caught it bc he heard their tails could be sold for lots of money. But he ended up actually caring about it and it stays on his team. However, when it's tail naturally falls off every now and then, he does sell it.

Meowth - literally based off maneki neko. Pokedex says it cannot resist picking up shiny things. Especially loves coins!

Impidimp - a trickster. Enjoys taking things from people's houses. They get irritable if they can't absorb negative emotions. But in the house of lamentation, those are always around.

Gimmighoul - before Scarlett and violet was released i tried to do this and thought about how there isn't a pokemon that's based on money or wealth. Which is insane. So i stopped. But now, here we are! I don't think i need to explain these two.

Umbreon - so! This might seem a bit random! But listen! I think, that Mammon would have had an Eevee. Of course he'd have kept this from his brothers. We all know that underneath his Tsundere shell he's very sweet and affectionate. I think that he was very close with Eevee. Then, one night, after an intense spat with his brothers, he locks himself in his room Eevee would go to comfort him. After a tight hug, Eevee suddenly evolves into Umbreon. This would be his companion Pokemon. The one he keeps out of it's PokeBall almost all the time.
