I, Jason Gideon, am back from the dead! After the CIA faked my death to go undercover in one hell of an operation. Remember Frank Breitkopf who was the evil that allegedly killed me? Well, he escaped custody and I traveled abroad to catch him.

I finally retired in 2009 with my wife and son, Stephen, in the mountains just like I have always dreamed. However, my life has been hard since leaving the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). My wife passed away in 2021 from COVID-19 complications and my son, Stephen, is now married and living in San Francisco leaving me alone in these mountains with nothing but memories.

I was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in early 2022 that has left me questioning my life and recalling the horrible experiences with the BAU. I often wake with headaches and have blurry memories of past BAU cases (or are they memories).

But the BAU needed me. There is a "copycat" criminal that is leaving clues at the scene of the crime that relate to previous BAU investigations. They have asked me to consult and recall any insightful information that might help the BAU capture this crazy animal and end this new case that has been baffling the team. With slight hesitation, I accepted.

I walked out of the elevator with a new look. A beard and plenty of grey hair welcomed the team. Prentiss looked like she had seen a ghost.

I said, "I bet you thought you would never see me again!"

And that is how it all started for the next season of Criminal Minds: Evolution.

This will always be such a great scene where Aaron and Jason are talking about Spencer while watching him with Elle, Derek, and Jennifer. Little did we know that there would be another birthday party for him six years later in season 7 that would turn out to be a surprise. I’m still amazed at how shocked Aaron is at the wealth of knowledge Spencer had at only 24 since he was certainly the youngest of the team.
