Chapter 4
----
The next morning, Din had already been up for several hours by the time he heard the familiar noise of a landspeeder travelling down the dusty path towards his cabin.
He was busy fixing a loose panel on the side of his N-1 Starfighter, when the sound caught his attention.
It caught Groguâs too.Â
The small child was sat on the porch step, using his powers to lift one of Dinâs heavier tools up into the air and then back down again.
Din and Grogu had already had a bountiful breakfast, consisting of the fruit and sweet bread that Lysa had left for them the previous day.
It was indeed rare for them to have anything more than bone broth in the conservator. So having a bounty of fresh foods, all handpicked or home cooked, felt like a luxury.
Din took a step back from his ship and turned, to see the battered old landspeeder hovering down the makeshift road towards them.
He cleared his throat, causing Grogu to stare up at him for a moment, before the childâs attention was drawn back by the speeder coming to a juddering stop.
Immediately Grogu gave a chirp and began to waddle over to the pilot on tiny legs.
âGrogu,â scolded Din quickly.
But Lysa Kane, who had just stepped out of the landspeeder, gave a laugh.
Din gazed at her, today in a short navy tunic and matching navy breeches. She was just a little shorter than Din, but her outfit made her look tall and regal.Â
âSomeone already hungry for more?â she said in a sing-song voice, as she pulled off her helmet, revealing her usual wavy length of honey-coloured hair.
Grogu almost instantly jumped up onto the back of the speeder, expecting her to present him with food like the last time she was here.
But Din hurriedly strode up to the pair of them, reaching under his sonâs arms and pulling him swiftly from the vehicle, as Grogu screeched in protest.
âGrogu, you ate like a half hour ago,â Din said in a firm voice, as the green child made grabby hands for Lysa.
The Mandalorianâs gaze met with hers through his beskar helmet. âSorry,â he uttered, internally wishing his son was more well-behaved. Especially in front of company like her.
But Lysa merely smiled up at the pair of them delightedly, before reaching into the basket, attached to the rear of her speeder, and pulling out a small handful of pink berries. Which she promptly handed over to Grogu.
Within half a second, Groguâs face was already covered in pink juice as he chowed down on the fruit.
âI don't think Iâve seen wasaka berries anywhere in the Outer Rim before,â Din commented.
At his words Lysa smiled.
âWell in exchange for a constant supply of homemade cakes, some of the stallholders down at the Bazaar save me some of the rarer fruits that come in,â she explained. âThey're happy, Iâm happy, and my customers are happy.â
Din stared at her. All golden hair and a smile that could brighten even the darkest of skies. But there was something behind that. Something smart, and self-sufficient. And it still surprised him that a woman like her would keep a man like Crix around.
Din had pondered that on his long journey home just the previous evening. Of all the men out there, why would she choose someone like him?
Crix had been cold and brutish. A contrast to Lysa Kane, who to Din, exuded warmth and grace.Â
To him it was as if Lysa was a flame and Crix was an open window, ready to snuff out her fire at any moment.
The Mandalorian had met many men like this in his travels and almost every single one of them had been bad news.Â
But was it Dinâs place to care? He wasnât so certain, but that didnât stop Lysa from sitting in the forefront of his mind since he had first crossed paths with her.
Shaking himself from his thoughts, the Mandalorian fumbled in his belt, pulling out the credits he owed for their delivery and handing them over.
Lysa took them from his grasp and before eyeing them in her hand.
âI told you already, this is too much,â she said with a gentle shake of her head as she held out two credit chips.
But Din raised his hand.
âYou've had to come here twice,â he said matter-of-factly. âAnd besides. You're undercharging.â
At his words, Lysa shifted her weight onto one foot, raising both eyebrows at him in bemusement.
âOh really?â she retorted playfully, tilting her head to the side and giving a nod. âI never knew Mandalorians were such experts in cost and pricing for baked goods?â
Beneath his mask, Din couldn't help the smile that played upon his lips.
âWeâre not. But I travel a lot and I know that you're undercharging,â he said with a shrug. âTheyâd charge quadruple that on Naboo.â
For a short second, something flickered over Lysaâs face. Almost like a recognition of sorts, as though she was remembering something long passed.
âYou know, my parents actually owned a bakery on Naboo. Itâs where Iâm fromâŚ.where I was born,â the blonde woman commented lightly. âBut there's no way they charged four times my prices.â
Lysa smirked and shook her head.
âI think whoever youâve been buying flatcakes from in Naboo, has hustled you out of a lot of credits, Din Djarin.â
At her words Din gave a chuckle, which caused Grogu to gaze up at him, obviously not used to hearing this sound from his father often.
âAha, so Mandalorians do laugh!â Lysa said, smiling brightly and pointing at him.
Behind his helmet, Din continued to smirk.
âIâm not taking the credits back,â he said firmly, with a gentle shake of his head.
At this, Lysa blinked up at him, before giving an easy shrug.
âWell in that case,â she said, taking a step into the Mandalorian. âHere you go, Din Grogu. Buy yourself something sweet and sticky from the market - preferably something that your Daddy has to spend weeks cleaning off the interior of his fancy ship.â
And with that, she handed the small green child the remaining two credit chips, which Grogu took in each hand, bashing them together like an instrument.Â
Lysa instantly shot Din a look as he returned one, her lips twitching up into a smirk, before she turned away from him. Moving back over to her speeder.
âIâll come deliver again at the end of the week if youâre happy with that?â she said in a smooth tone. âAny requests this time?â
âRequests?â asked Din.
Lysa shrugged once more, picking up her visor.
âWell a few of the Mandalorians over the way, ask for Sweetmallow cakes when I can get the ingredients. But those I will have to change you double for.â
She leaned in to Grogu. âVery sweet and sticky,â she said in a carrying whisper, giving a wrinkle of her nose as she did so.
Dinâs eyes roved over Lysaâs face for a moment or two, as he let out a snort behind his helmet.
âNo requests,â he gently uttered with a brief shake of his head.
The blonde woman offered him one last smile before pulling her battered old visor over her head, tucking in her hair, and hopping into the landspeeder.
Just like last time, Din took a wide step back as dust flew up into the air, at the sound of the speederâs engine stuttering to life.
Grogu in his arms, bashed the two credits in his hands together noisily. As Lysa reversed in the speeder a little way before giving the pair a wave; circling around and zooming off.
Din stood there for a while, watching as she disappeared out of sight, before giving a small sigh.
At the sound, Grogu stared up at his father expectantly, letting out a loud chirp.
Din glanced down at his small green son.
âI know, but itâs not gonna happen, buddy. Sheâs with someone.â
And with that, Din couldnât help but let out another long sigh, before staring back up at the horizon.
âŚâŚ
Was that ok? Should I carry on?Â

Chapter 52 - My kar'ta
------
**This chapter contains brief NSFW content. 18+ only**
The night sky over the cool Nevarro desert was inky black, with every single star visible, twinkling overhead.
It was a stark contrast from the weather just a few hours prior, where a grumbling thunderstorm had belted down rain for over an hour.
The ground underfoot was still damp- the first thing Din noticed as he jumped from his N-1 Starfighter, and his boots hit the, normally, dusty earth just a little way from his small cabin.
Din and Grogu had been out since dawn. Having received a message on the wrist-comm from Carson Teva, who wanted to meet with them to discuss business in a quiet, back-street bar in Mos Eisley.
The meeting had been interesting, with Teva pretty much assuring Din that with the troubles the New Republic seemed to be having with bandits and outlaws on the Outer Rim, he would be kept well topped up with credits for the next Standard year at least!
On the long journey home, Grogu had fallen fast asleep against Dinâs shoulder. Snoring softly.
Leaving Din eager to get home, pushing his Starfighter to its limits on the return journey.
It had been Dinâs first trip off-planet since arriving back from Nar Shaddaa a little over a week ago. And the Mandalorian was keen to get home and see Lysa. Today having also been the first day that she had ventured into the city, since making her last delivery all those days prior.
Din had spent all of the previous evening showing Lysa how to properly use the speeder bike, which had been a fun couple of hours. At first Din had been rattled to see Lysa speed off, looking like she had little-to-no control over the vehicle in question. But he had been wrong to doubt her. And within just ten minutes she had mastered the precarious speeder easily, enjoying how exhilaratingly fast it moved compared to her sluggish and ancient old landspeeder.
They had made sure that the basket could easily hook onto the back, which it did, even providing Grogu with a fun place to sit, giggling and cooing happily as Lysa did laps of the cabin at a speed. As Din had chuckled beneath his helmet, watching them from the porch, muscular arms folded over his beskar plated chest.
But the basket had been unhooked for now, with Lysa informing Din that she didn't quite want to start back making deliveries yet. Instead wanting to take today to head into town and settle up with a few of the vendors she owed money to for their ingredients, and collect a few things she needed.
She had seemed to him over the last couple of days, a different person to that of a week ago, when she had first woken from her fever, upset and traumatised. Now it was as though that light had returned to her eyes. Her shoulders having untensed and that worried frown slipping slowly away as the days went on.
Din had savoured her closeness this past week, his chest constricting when he was near to her, unable to help the smile that slipped its way into his features when he looked her way. Knowing now that no matter what happened between them now, Dinâs heart would forever be hers.
The lights were on inside the cabin now, but they were dimmed, signalling to him that Lysa was likely already in bed. With her having left the lights on low, knowing that he would see them as his ship circled overhead, welcoming him home.
As Din arrived at the top step of his porch, he approached the front door watching as it slid open.
Quietly he went inside only to find Lysa half way across the room, having returned from using the Refresher. Dressed in just her usual short, this time- pale green slip, that ended at her smooth thighs, and bare feet. Looking like an angelic vision to Din.
She smiled happily at their sudden presence, tucking a long strand of mussed-up long blonde hair behind her ear.
He noted that she must have been sleeping, likely roused by the noise from the N-1 landing just outside. The next time he was to arrive back so late he would make sure to park up a little distance away, as not to disturb her. But in a selfish way, he now was glad that he had interrupted her sleep, to allow himself the chance to look at her now, smiling back at him in the twilight.
Lysaâs eyes swiftly fell to the sleeping Grogu still nestled in Dinâs arms and her face softened to one of adoration.
âHas he been sleeping long?â she said with a whisper.
Din angled his gaze down to his son as best he could with his helmet half obscuring his view.
âAn hour or two,â he commented. âIâm going to put him down and then get freshened up. A Tatooine summer is no joke.â
He watched as Lysa offered him a smile, wrinkling her nose affectionately as she did so. Before she approached, leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to the very top of Groguâs head.
Din felt a swell of pride as he gazed down at them both, realising then just how lucky he truly was.
Pulling back carefully so as not to disturb the sleeping child, Lysa gently passed the pair, heading into Dinâs bedroom, as he watched her go for a lingering moment. Before strolling silently into the Sleeper just beside that one.
Less than ten minutes later Din emerged back into the living space, having showered, dressed in just his tunic and pants and helmet now.
He rounded the corner into the sleeper to see Lysa sat facing him from her position on his bed, a smile on her face, her head propped up with a pillow.
And from behind his helmet, Din couldn't help but smile back.
âHow was Tatooine?â she asked gently.
Din gave an easy shrug entering the room, beginning to re-unbutton his tunic at the collar.Â
Din was so used to covering up in front of others, he had not yet become accustomed to walking the length of the cabin without his tunic yet.
âFine,â he replied tiredly, not having found his day interesting enough to expand on. âHow was the city?â
Din was far more eager to hear how Lysa had found her first trip into town since everything that had happened.
âIt was good,â she said brightly, her green eyes watching as his neck was revealed little by little. âVisited the market. Everyone wasâŚ.sweet.â
At her words Din glanced her way, earning a small, but happy sigh from Lysaâs lips.
âSeems like news travels fast when the High-Magistrate comes to Nar Shaddaa to rescue you,â she explained.
Din pursed his lips. âKarga shouldn't have-â
âItâs fine,â uttered Lysa in a soothing voice, giving a small smile. âI don't think any of them had even met Crix, so I think it was all just a surprise to them that Iâd put up with someone like that for so long without doing anything about it.â
She gave a small sniff now, her eyes drifting down to her knees for a moment, before she glanced up at him once more.Â
âAnd I can see now how stupid I was, of course I can,â she said in a voice quieter now than before. âButâŚyâknowâŚhindsight can be a funny thing. I think Iâd accepted that that was my life. And that I had no choice.â
Din stared back at her for a long moment, as the room fell quiet.
Lysa swallowed harshly before she spoke again.
âIâŚuhâŚI also went back to my old apartment today,â she said with a nod, a soft smile gracing her lips once more. âJust to pick up a couple of things, and IâŚI bumped into my landlord.â
Din stared up at her instantly, his fingers slipping against a button at his collar.
â...and I uhâŚI asked about the leaseâŚitâs under Crixâs nameâŚâ she explained, her face flushing slightly as she spoke, her eyes instantly dropping from his and instead becoming fixed to a loose thread on the white sheet before her. â...and um, well, he asked if I wanted to take it overâŚâ
Behind his beskar Din Djarin suddenly felt his throat go instantly dry and his heart seem to skip a beat.
â...and, well, I told him Iâd think about itâŚâ she said, her unsure eyes drifting back up to Dinâs, obscured behind his helmet. â...I justâŚâ
Lysa swallowed hard again, offering Din a sweet smile, her wide green eyes full of uncertainty now.
â...I wasn't sure if Iâd outstayed my welcome with youâŚhereâŚâ she explained, taking in a breath and seeming to hold it in place, waiting for Dinâs response.
A frown slipped between Dinâs brows, his brown eyes roving across her face, his breathing becoming suddenly shallow.
Din didn't want her to leave. Not now. Not ever. His heart aching at the idea of losing her.
âStay,â he said suddenly, his voice sounding stark in the quiet of the room. âI want you to stay. We want you to stay.â
Lysa gazed at him, with eyes filled with a hopeful disbelief and she opened her mouth to speak, but Din did not give her the chance. Cutting across her now.
âAfter what happened in Nar Shaddaa,â said Din in a serious voice through his modulator. â...I donât think I can bear to be apart from you again.â
His gaze remaining fixed on hers throughout.
âAnd I know this place might not seem like much of a home,â he continued, his voice earnest. âBut to usâŚit is now that youâre in it. If you want it to, it could be your home tooâŚâ
At Dinâs words, Lysaâs face seemed to warm in front of his eyes. A blushing smile breaking onto her pretty features.
âOk,â she said with a beaming nod.
âOk,â replied Din firmly, finally letting go of his breath for the first time in what felt like an age, a relieved smile flitting its way onto his face. His chest swelling with pride.
Dinâs heart now ached for her. For the woman sat before him, looking like a vision in pale starlight.
And he knew now that he didn't want her questioning things between them again.Â
He never again wanted to see her uncertain about how much love for her he had.
Never wanted to see her doubt how much she meant to him and how much he wanted to hold her close and never let her go.
As she stared back at him now, Din could see the love pouring from her. Her beautiful face a shining light even in the darkness of the room.
And feeling a lump settle in his throat, and a frown settle itself between Dinâs brows, he gazed down at her knowing exactly how he felt about her now.Â
How heâd felt about her from that first moment heâs laid eyes on her.
The ever-shining sunlight to his dark and pouring rain.
And without warning, Din, with that frown still there and chest rising and falling hard, unpinned his tunic and shucked it from his shoulders. Before reaching over and pressing a hand to the square button beneath the window.
And just before the room, plunged into darkness, he saw Lysa wet her lips gently with her tongue, a warm expectation set within her gaze.
A moment later the room became black, as Din dropped his knees onto the bed one by one, pulling off his beskar helmet as he did so. Throwing it onto the mattress beside them.
And almost instantly he felt Lysaâs hand on his chest, knowing exactly where he was even in the dark. Her palms sliding over his shoulders, as she pulled him close, her lips meeting with his.
Her kiss was soft and sweet and Din felt his chest constrict with the adoration he felt for her in that moment.
Lysa lay back, tugging him on top of her, her fingers threading themselves through his dark hair. Just as Dinâs propped himself up with his arms either side of her, penning her in.
Wanting now to right every wrong that had ever befallen her.
Wanting to soothe every hurt.
Determined tonight, to kiss every part of her body that Crix had bruised her.
And moving his mouth from hers, he began to press gentle open-mouthed kisses to her neck, staring from the space just beneath her ear, and travelling down slowly to her collarbone.
Her heard Lysa let out a satisfied âmmmmmâ, hearing now that she was smiling.
And how Din loved making her smile.
He dipped his head, dropping his lips next to her chest, inching lower, as his rough hands unbuttoned her pale slip slowly, revealing even more skin to him.
A moment later the fabric between them was gone, Lysa letting it slide from her shoulders, propping herself up onto her elbows for a second to toss it aside.
As her back hit the mattress once more, Dinâs hands skimmed down her sides, coming to stop on the small of her waist, as his kisses followed, one falling between her breasts before his lips grazed her ribs. Peppering each side with brief and open-mouthed laps.
He knew that Crix had broken and bruised more than a few of her rib-bones over the years. And despite not being able to take those hard memories away from Lysa. Din wanted to do what he could to let her know that the hurt was now gone.
The noise of his lips gently kissing her skin, caused Lysa to emit several soft little moans that were enough to make Din frown darkly, his breathing becoming shallower within his chest now. Enjoying the sounds he was able to ease from her mouth.
Her stomach was next to receive attention from him, followed by her hips, one-by-one, as he slowly moved to her thighs. Positioning himself between them and using his hands to hitch up both legs and press soft wet kisses to those smooth inner-thighs of hers.
He heard her gasp out expectantly, the noise sending waves of arousal coursing through his body.
But he was not done yet. Nor was he ready to finish in kissing away the ghosts of the bruises Crix had once given her. His entire chest constricting, as his thoughts lingered on all she had gone through, and all she had survived.
With Din Djarin knowing that there was nothing she could ever do, for him to consider ever inflicting those same bruises on her.
And so sliding his body up and over hers once again, and propping himself up with one arm taught against the mattress, his face found hers in the dark.
Din pressed a gentle kiss to one cheekbone now, and then the other, feeling her smile instantly at that. Before his lips grazed her temples, once, twice then three timesâŚ
âŚbefore finally, moving to the space between her browsâŚ
âŚto that frown lineâŚ
âŚto that place he had once promised himself, long before Lysa had even been his, that he would one day press his lips to.
And it was in that moment, that everything seemed to change. With Din pulling back, feeling his breathing become shallow and that frown that had graced his own brow, returning. As he stared down at Lysa, without being able to even see her in the darkness.
Knowing now that she completed him.
That his existence now felt utterly fulfilled now that she was in it. As though every moment of his life was leading to him meeting her.
And that was when Din Djarin made a decision. A decision which he knew now that he would not regret for the rest of his days.
And so breathing hard, he lifted his face back just an inch, staring down at LysaâŚ
âŚas his free hand moved to the window.
And in an instant, Din had flipped the switchâŚ
⌠opening the shuttersâŚ
âŚwith shining starlight illuminating the small roomâŚ
âŚrevealing his face, at last, to the beautiful woman before him.
Din gave a harsh swallow, as he stared down at her. His heart thudding inside his chest, almost trembling with apprehension.
Unable to help the fear and worry that appeared in his brown eyes, as he stared wordlessly down at her.
Before him, he saw Lysa blink a couple of times, her green eyes wide, her lips parting gently.
Dank farrik.
What if she found him grotesque?
What if upon seeing his face after so long, she decided that he was not the man she thought he was?
Aside from Grogu and the Jedi, Din had not shown his face to another living being since he was a child, putting on the helmet for the first time.
To him now, this felt like standing naked in a room full of people, vulnerable, with nowhere to hide.
But before Din could worry further, Lysa had lifted her smooth hand to his face, her fingers lightly tracing over his cheekbones and down his jaw, grazing over his bottom lip. As her eyes followed the same path, taking in his every feature.
Before those marsh-green eyes of hers finally settled on his brown onesâŚ
âŚfor the very first time.
And awash in her eyes was a look that told him all he ever needed to know.
A look that told him just how utterly in love with him she was.
A feeling Din reciprocated now, so strongly in return, that he felt his heart might shatter in two if he were to ever lose her again.
A love so intense, he felt that no force in this galaxy could keep them apart any longer.
âNi karâtayli gar darasuum,â he uttered aloud, before he could do a thing to stop himself. The words presenting themselves to her, as though she was always meant to have had them.
And for a moment, her eyes searched hisâŚ
But Din did not give her the chance to worry on their meaning. As he swallowed hard again, his gaze never leaving hers.
âIt means- I will know you forever.â
Din stared down at her as a look of shining awe appeared like morning dew over Lysa perfect features.
âItâs what the people of Mandalore would say to those that they-â he paused, just for the very briefest of seconds, wetting his bottom lip gently with his tongue. â-that they love.â
Din watched, as the frown line between Lysaâs eyes deepended for a split second before her face softened completely.
âI love you,â said Din, with a slight shake of his head, his words honest in the quiet of the night. âI think I loved you from that first time you showed up outside in your speeder.â
A gentle smile slipped itâs way over Lysaâs face, her sparkling ocean green eyes still searching his in the starlight.
âI love you too,â she said breathlessly, reaching up and cupping at his cheek with her hand, as she lifted her head from the pillow behind her head, her lips gently meeting with his.
To Din, her lips tasted like golden honey.Â
Like pure sunlight.
Her kiss sweet and delicious, and filled with love in its most truest form.
And like that they remained, kissing at one another languidly, hands sliding over skin.
Enjoying every inch of each other as the minutes slowly passed them by.Â
Until those kisses of theirs became far more heated, the swirling vortex of their need for one another getting bigger and more powerful until neither of them could bear it any longer.
Thighs sliding over hipsâŚ
Hands fumbling between them, as Dinâs dark pants were pushed from his waist and kicked to the floor.
They felt like magnets now, unable and unwilling to part, as they sought their pleasure, so wrapped in one another neither would have noticed if a StarCruiser had crashed into the planet right outside.
Their lips parted for a brief moment, huffing hot breaths into each otherâs mouths, as Lysaâs hand found his erect length, hard and throbbing between his legs. Eager to seek its goal in that soaked aching slit between her thighs.
And a moment later, with mouths hanging open, both mirroring the other, eyes locked, Din was there, buried inside her.
Their pace started slow, with Lysaâs hand moving to his muscular bicep, now flexed taught beside her shoulder. Fingernails from her other hand raking through his dark hair.
And Din could only breathe out raggedly, as their hips began to move in sync with one another.
Moving faster and ever faster.Â
Lips grazing.Â
Tongueâs lapping.Â
Both intoxicated on each other.
Lysa moaned into Dinâs mouth, her eyes closing blissfully, as her back arched against the sheets beneath her.
Dinâs hands skimmed up the bare skin of Lysaâs warm outer thigh, huffing a grunt into her parted lips, as he buried himself inside her time and time again. The wet, sinful noises between them, truly something to behold.
A moment later, her hand moved to his neck and she lifted her face to his again. Her green eyes seeking his in the pale light.
And their eye contact remained as Lysa fell apart first, gasping out, clenching around his hard cock, which now sodden with her juices.
The sensation enough to trigger Dinâs own climax, a dark frown gracing his sweat beaded brow, as he came hard, groaning out as Lysa watched him from her own comedown.
âDank farrikâŚâ he murmured, as Lysa gave a hazy nod in response, her thumb grazing over Dinâs bottom lip, as she leaned her lips in close to his.
âYeahâŚâ she responded breathlessly, as Din eased himself from her now, his trembling arm almost giving out on him. Settling himself down onto his back, onto the mattress beside her.
The two of them breathing hard, their chests both rising and falling hard in the pale light of the stars.
A few seconds later, Din felt Lysa turn towards him, shifting onto her side to gaze at his profile, feeling her eyes on him.
And shifting his own body, he came to face her.
The pair were silent for a long moment, with Lysaâs hand drifting up to Dinâs face, her thumb drifting over the hollow beneath Dinâs eye gently, where he bore the small marks of more than a few fights he had both won and lost over the years.
Din closed his eyes, even after weeks of removing his helmet in the dark and feeling her contact, he still cherished the feeling of her warm fingers touching a place he had not had touched by another since he was a small child.
âWonât you get in trouble for removing your helmet?â he heard Lysa ask now, amidst the quiet. âIsn't it against the Creed?â
Her words were caring and soft. And as Din opened his eyes, he looked upon her face, full of concern and love for him, and only him.
Dinâs hand moved to her middle, his fingers reaching the small of her waist as he caressed her smooth skin.
âYou are part of my family now,â he said, leaning in and nudging his nose with hers gently. âMy clan.â
He saw her green eyes seek his lips in the darkness, watching every word as they spilled from his lips.
âI have abided by the rules for so long. Sacrificing so much along the way,â he continued in earnest, knowing that every word was true.
Being a Mandalorian, he had missed out on so very much.
Missed out on what others sought so often.Â
On that intimacy, with not only lovers but family too.
But now, Din Djarin was no longer on the outside looking in. For the galaxy had provided him with his own family. His own clan.
âThese moments with you-â he uttered now, pulling her hips into his and pressing his hand to the dipped small of her back, holding her so very close. â-we are bonded. And I-â
Din gave a hard swallow now, gazing into the eyes of the woman he loved so dearly.
âI justâŚ.I don't ever want to let you go,â he said, letting out a huff of air through his nose, as he reached down, his hand grasping hers.
âYou are my karâtaâŚâ he said, pressing her palm flat to his bare chest, as he translated in a low and firm voice. â...my heart.â
He saw Lysa tilt her head, and tears glint in her eyes in the pale starlight. But she did not let any fall now.Â
A smile gracing her perfect face as she shifted closer to Din now and tucked her head beneath his chin. Her hand finding his once more, their fingers entwining neatly.
Both listening to the rain as it began to pitter-patter on the roof of the cabin, but neither allowing sleep to take them just yet.
The two of them, Din and Lysa, basking now in the glow of both the rainâŚ
âŚand the sunlight.

Din Djarin x Reader, The Mandalorian x Reader
Summary: Your employer is pissed when you come back from getting information about a bounty with a bruised hand mark around your neck.
A/N: I kinda just wrote this one because I had a vague idea and ran with it. I think everyone is going to learn very quickly in my writing that clearly jealous/overprotective Din is my fave version of him đ
Warnings: reader gets choked and not in the nice way (only talks about it), overprotective Din, Din is your employer but clearly wants to be more, death and m!rder (all in the name of love) đ¤, mentions of blood and bodily harm, mentions of slave traders, fluff with a little bit of spiceâ¨, soft!Din but also a little bit reckless!Din đ smut references but not written too explicitly but still MINORS DNI, business associates to lovers arc? đ
not set at any particular point during the series.
READER does not have a specified gender, they/them pronouns used. Reader does not have a visible disability.
Youâd been gone too long and Din was getting anxious.
This hadnât been his original plan.
The contact for information regarding the bounty had unfortunately been highlighted as a previous foe of his. Heâd busted them prior when their bounty puck had fell in his lap over a cycle ago.
Trust Karga to let the man redeem himself by providing intel on high-level bounties with the incentive of remaining out of the hands of the Rebellion that for some reason unbeknownst to Din, wanted his head on a stick.
Why had Din let you go and barter for the information again?
âHe wonât suspect me to be a threat.â
Oh right, yeah. Thatâs what you said.
Except Din was probably worrying about the wrong thing because the biggest threat would be the ex-criminal you were meeting with at Mos Espa Cantina.
âGo say hi to Boba for me. Get the boy fed and Iâll be back soon.â
Din was losing his edge.
On what kriffin planet did he give in to such a request?
You were in danger and he knew it.
He knew it and he still sat in the markets with Grogu, twirling wupiupi coins in his fingers for the past half hour while his son slurped another bowl of pog soup.
Why?
Well, that was easy.
Since the past year you had been travelling with him, Din had grown to have affections for you.
To start he kept you at arms length.
Brief answers to your curious questions turned into nightly talks between your bunks. Subtle touches to guide you through busy and sometimes treacherous places turned into lingering holds in his grasp, fear of losing you to the crowds. He found himself watching you far longer than he ever had before and during times when he didnât necessarily need to. The sound of you using the fresher while he tucked in his little green son had his heart pounding and a certain area of his armor feeling a little bit too uncomfortable.
He grew more and more protective the further you strayed without him.
He no longer wished for you to venture into dens alone to ask for information on his behalf but he couldnât deny that you were good at it.
Better than him.
You were calm and collected.
You had a level head.
Something that he could very easily lose control over should Grogu and yourself be threatened by a contact. Though it was the one thing you had learned you could assert yourself over since Dinâs change of heart.
You had a job that needed to be done and you were the best person for it.
So Din caved far quicker than he normally would with allowing you to go the cantinas and talk about bounties, pay and information. It sped up the process for Din to track them and also meant he didnât have to deal with the unwanted chit chat that came with meeting up with Karga.
Something you enjoyed. Something that had Dinâs palms itching whenever Karga took your hand to help you stand from the booth, Dinâs clenched fist aching to wipe the smug look of his face when he turned back in his direction.
âI like her, Mando. Sheâs good at getting what she wants.â
He knew you were.
Din wasnât sure if he was included on the list of things you wanted but you sure as hell were on his.
There was times he had a inkling.
Especially when he was feeding the kid and he caught you looking away when his eyes found you scraping away at your lunch.
Times when you would grab his hand without hesitation and pull him through midnight markets towards the sights of fireworks. Dinâs heart warming at the wide smile plastered across your face, the powdery shades of red, blue and green lighting up in your eyes from the sky.
Damn, he was down bad and he had no idea what to do about it.
Technically, he was your employer.
Juggling Grogu and his job was a difficulty. Most of the time he was happy to venture out with Grogu in his carrier or pod but his bounties got, letâs say, brave in their efforts to deter him. Going so far as to aim shots towards the child. They learned his weakness and Din hated it.
So with much reluctance to start, he asked Peli if she would be interested in babysitting him for a price but of course she refused; even with the money on the table.
âNot a chance but I know just the person for the job.â
He had slid the money off the table and walked back to the ship without another word until she scrambled after him.
âHey, hey, hey! Just hear me out, okay?â Din had sighed, turning back to her from the top of the ramp while she stood hands on her hips and a smile growing. âThereâs this kid that needs a job. Call âem a distant relative, if you will. Theyâre desperate. Need money, board, food, water and theyâll make sure your little boy is taken good care of. I swear!â
âHave they taken care of children before?â Din asked inquisitively but also with a half mind to ignore Peli completely and close the ramp in response to her proposal.
âYeah! Loads of times! Theyâre a professional!â
Din doubted that very much. He knew Peliâs tactics for selling him an offer and he couldnât deny that she was good at it.
Fine, heâll bite. Again.
âCall them.â
He just remembers Peliâs grin, your soft voice on the end of a comlink and then a speeder sounding just outside.
She had presented you to him like a rare gift and he was less than happy to receive you at the time but more than a few rotations later, you had thrown yourself in front of a bounty that had tried to commandeer his ship, their blaster aimed for Grogu in his bunk, taking a graze to the side before Din shot him dead.
You were willing to die to protect his son.
That was more than he couldâve ever asked for.
Later when Din was back at the Crest, you returned.
He had spent the past hours pacing up and down the ramp like a mad man.
Originally, he had planned to detour from the markets with Grogu over to the cantina but you had used your comlink to tell him you were already near the ship.
That was interesting because Din got back to the ship and you werenât even here.
Which begs the question, why did you lie that you were already nearby?
Maybe he was being paranoid. His fists clenching and unclenching repeatedly, stressing about your whereabouts and the obvious reason as to why he was so stressed to begin with.
So when heâd heard your footsteps up the ramp, your voice calling for Grogu, you were both surprised to see the other staring back.
âWhere have you been?â Din questioned gently but you sensed an underlining annoyance to his tone.
âI detoured, sorry,â you sheepishly smiled, holding up a bag of frog meat. âI saw a vendor selling this and I knew Grogu would be happy about it. Not to mention,â you brush past him, eyes focused solely on the sleeping child snuggling into his hammock on Dinâs bunk, âit would be nice to see him not eat a whole frog for once.â
You laugh and it eases Din.
Of course he was just being paranoid.
âAnd the contact?â He says and you remain with your back to him, reaching your hand in carefully to tug the blanket over Groguâs body. âHe give us what we need?â
âHe did,â you respond and Din satisfied, presses the button to bring up the ramp and close the hatch. The sound of it whirring so loud, in need of some oiling so much so that you had probably thought he missed your quiet words.
âWhat was that?â His helmet turns your way when the hatch closes with a loud creak.
âI said, somewhat.â
Okay, maybe he wasnât being paranoid after all.
Din feels his nerves wash over him, noticing how youâre not even turning around as you address him. He takes you in. You donât seem discomforted, angry or emotional. Youâre incredibly calm.
Though that was worrying.
Normally, you came back from having debriefs with the informants with a story to tell.
âIt was quite scary actually. They had this wookie with them but then youâll never believe this guy! Stood there, blaster in hand, immense glare in his face, goes and shoves a fist in his satchel, Iâm ready to throw hands and I shit you not, DinâŚwookie pulls out a cookie and starts crunching away at it!â
âHave you ever met a Gungan, Din? I think theyâre my favourite people Iâve ever met. I mean they were all like, yousa follow us now, okeyday? Seriously! Oh gooberfish! I love them!â
âWhat do you mean by somewhat?â
You sigh.
This wasnât good.
âIâm sorry, Din. They gave us the last location. I think thatâs the most important thing.â
âWhat about if theyâre solo or run with a crew? We need to know what weâre walking into, otherwise we could get bombarded the moment we land.â
This wasnât a simple bounty. This guy was one of the worst out there.
A slave trader.
It angered Din to even think about it.
âSomething happened,â he doesnât let you tip-toe around the subject. âWhat are you not telling me?â
You fall silent and thatâs enough for him.
Something did happen and whatâs worse, you donât want to tell him.
He moves towards you and you turn on your heel, ready to protest. Din had only meant to just embrace your shoulder gently to ease you into a conversation he thought you needed to have but the slightest wince had him drawing back almost immediately.
With his steps halted in front of you, the air cold, the crest filled with silence, Dinâs visor drops instinctively to your neck.
Was it getting cool? Sure, when it was getting late. Though right now, it was still early afternoon and you never wore a scarf in Mos Espa outside the settlement and in the dunes.
âDid he touch you?â
Din has to bite back the growl threatening to crackle through his modulator.
Your head drops, eyes on the floor and the look of regret on your features make Din pray to the Maker that heâll kill the man just for the expression on your face.
Then you unravel the scarf and Din wastes no time.
His hand had pulled your collar back gently, his shoulders stiffening at the purpled marks there.
You grimaced before trying for a smile but he sees the way your eyes plead with his, âBefore you ask, it looks worse than it feels. Iâm fine, Din. Letâs just go.â
He remembers you calling his name after that.
Only once because you knew as you watched him brush past you, grabbing two vibroblades from his armoury and charging down the steps towards the town, that there was nothing you could say to stop him.
And you were right because less than five minutes later, Dinâs blades were impaled on the informants hands, stapling him indefinitely to the table at the cantina while onlookers ran completely, hid or dropped their heads from his view.
Then his gloved hands were on his throat, squeezing the life out of him.
An eye for an eye.
You hadnât explained why the man had strangled you and it was pointless anyway.
He had no right to touch you.
To hell with Karga.
Heâd lose an informant but that informant chose to fuck with what was his and that was worth more than any information.
When Din felt the life leave him, he dropped a number of credits to the table, looked up at the barman and walked away. His last words being, âyou can keep those,â shrugging his shoulder towards the blades on the way out.
Now back at the ship, you sit rigidly on the bunk while Din gently swipes a lotion of bacta over your wound with a cotton wipe.
âI shouldnât have let you go.â
Your eyes flicker to his visor and you know heâs evading your gaze.
You sigh and for a moment, he think youâre not going to reply until your hands gently take his, stopping him from tending to you.
He lifts his visor then, meeting your concerned eyes, your fingers intertwined with his on your lap.
âI can handle myself. You know that, right?â
Oh. So thatâs what this was?
You were worried he thought you incompetent to end up in this circumstance?
Of course you would think that. Heâs your employer. You only want to deliver good work for him.
Thatâs not all this is anymore though and Din canât pretend and let you go on feeling like a failure especially with the tears dancing on your waterlines.
âYou are very capable, meshâla but-â Din sighs.
How can he even begin to explain to you that heâs more angry at himself for not protecting you like heâs supposed to?
Kriff, youâre not even a bounty hunter. Trained to use a blaster as a novice, he noticed how you flinched whenever youâve had to pull the trigger on his behalf. Youâre at your calmest when youâre rocking the small boy before bed, singing lullabies to him in a hushed tone probably so Din couldnât hear. You had no idea that he stood just above the ladder to the cockpit and listened.
You were ethereal and he couldnât get enough of you.
Thatâs why it made his hands shake to even think that anyone would harm you.
Heâs so caught up in his own thoughts, he misses the way your eyes widen at the term of endearment he let slip and the quick gesture as you shake yourself from how affected you are by it.
âI justâŚâ you break through his racing thoughts, his eyes latching onto your dipped chin, eyes shadowed in the corner of the docking port, just outside his bunk. You look solemn but rather than feel dread, Dinâs heart stills when he notices the flush of pink across your features.
If he didnât know any better, heâd say you were nervous.
âI just want to be able to do more for you.â
The words play on a loop, almost like theyâre colliding against the inside of Dinâs helmet, repeatedly soaring through his ears again and again.
âI want to be more useful for you. Ya know?â
Useful? You think youâre not already useful?
âSometimes I just feel like I have more to offer. I know you brought me in to be a babysitter but I can be more than that. For you.â
Was the carbonite freezing system failing or was it getting hotter in the crest?
Din felt like he needed to tug the shroud off from around his neck. The air was suffocating.
âPlease say something?â Your small voice says quietly.
âYou are more to me than you will ever understand, cyaârika.â
Your eyes meet his then.
Well, his visor at least and Din curses his creed for having him hide his face at a time when he wants- no needs you to see how much he means what he says.
Youâre silent but the increasing rouge of your cheeks is enough to see that you understand him and that perhaps there was some truth in his suspicions.
You felt for him just as much as he felt for you.
âDinâŚâ
And just like that, his eyes roll back momentarily hearing his name leave your tongue like a pleading prayer.
He couldnât pretend like you werenât affecting him too.
He needed you to know.
âGet in the bunk, ner karâta.â
Your body stills a moment in surprise and you donât move.
Maybe he misjudged or maybe heâs being too forward but then you stand and without taking your eyes away from him, you seat yourself on the side of his bunk.
Waiting for him.
Waiting for further instruction just like youâve been doing ever since you walked onto his ship.
One thing he realised he misjudged.
All those times you obeyed every command, it was never out of the need for his money.
You never questioned him, never refused an order but with Din and the matter of Groguâs safety, it was never a request and thatâs all it was to start.
It was just a matter of his sons safety until he realised he loved you too.
Din stands and steps in front of you, you look up at him as he tugs the shroud from around his neck loose.
He notices how your eyes drop to his waist, evading the reveal of his tanned skin while youâre positioned below him. He wraps the material a couple of times before placing the fabric over your eyes.
You donât move.
You donât flinch.
You just allow him to remove one of your senses, leaving nothing but darkness over your sight. His heart aches at the trust you have in him, allowing him to render you vulnerable before him.
He ties it behind your head, making sure itâs not too tight as to hurt you.
Heâs not the same type of man as the monster from earlier today.
His fingers itch at the memory and he shrugs his gloves off, setting his bare fingers against the cold metal of his helmet.
You await patiently and he watches as you jerk your head slightly at the familiar sound of his helmet releasing.
The sound youâve only ever heard from a nearby room, hiding away from him when you brought him supper.
You await patiently while Din removes each piece of armor, setting it aside.
Then thereâs just silence.
Until you hear his knees hit the ground in front of you and a warm breath hits your neck, a shudder running up your spine.
âIs it okay if I show you something?â
His whispers hit your ear drum in the most delightful way.
You nod dreamily.
Then you feel rough, warm lips graze your neck.
If heaven was travelling at light-speed through space, it was right here and now with Dinâs lips travelling along your jawline, mapping out the path to seal against your lips. He tugs gently, coaxing you out of the shy shell you had created when you realised the butterflies he made you feel when you first met had more to do with how attracted you were to him than to how intimidating most people found him.
Every step he took on each planet you travelled, Din carried a powerful aura that most people cowered away from but it only drew you to him more.
You knew Din was strong.
You knew not many could beat him in a fight, yourself included but that was the whole point.
Din would never abuse his strength over you.
Ever.
Though, you wish he would, in special circumstances.
Like right now.
âHow do you feel, cyaâre?â Din inquires breathlessly, lips pressing soft kisses down your throat while you bite back the urge to be vocal.
âI wish weâd done this sooner,â you say uneasily, your hands gripping the bunk below you.
Dinâs chuckle hits your ear, reverberating against your ear drum exquistively.
âDin?â He hears your voice rattle with every nestle of his lips stroking over your skin.
âYes, meshâla?â He raises his head, lips brushing the underside of your jaw, watching your lips turn up into a small smirk. Though you couldnât see his expression returning yours, his adoring smile awaited your next words patiently.
âYou killed him, didnât you?â
You feel a thumb smooth over your bottom lip.
âHe deserved it,â you shake your head slightly, fighting away an amused smile on your lips that he quickly wipes away, replacing with an expression of longing when his lips meet your ear.
âYouâre mine.â
