“Are you sure it's alright for me to come with you?”
Doflamingo smirks slightly to himself, watching you get dressed under an almost proud gaze as you place the dainty, gold necklace he gave you for your birthday around your neck.
“You ask this every time, dove.”
You toss a somewhat strained look over your shoulder at him, painted lips pressed into a fine line before you retort lightly,
“I just don't want my presence to cause a disturbance. After all, this is supposedly an important meeting for you.”
You don't wait for a reply before turning back to the mirrored dresser, picking up your eyeshadow brush to blend out the smokey colors on your lids a little more. You feel a sudden presence behind you as you place the brush back down and you can't help but give a soft, happy sigh as your bare back meets a warm, sculpted chest.
“You worry too much,” the words graze across your ear, pulling goosebumps to your flesh as a large hand comes around your front to rest against your throat, fingertips pressing to your jawline and turning your head slightly. You hum as Doflamingo's sharp nose brushes against the side of your neck before his lips press along the same path.
“I can't help it.” You reply lightly, leaning further into his chest as one hand reaches up to caress through short blonde hair. There's a content hum that comes from your lover, warm and loving as his other arm snakes around your middle with his hand splayed over your clothed stomach.
“We could always just stay here…” He offers, though you know he's not entirely serious. He has to go, no choice in the matter, and as entertaining it would be to have you by his side, your comfort always came first.
You shake your head slightly before straightening yourself up and looking at him in the mirror, ignoring the ache in your bones to have him fill you right here. “We have to go, but at least it won't be long and we can come right back here…” You give him a loving smile, eyes half lidded as you continue, “And have a night that's just us. No family worries, no warlord craziness… just you and me.”
There's a fondness in Doflamingo's gaze behind his shades that always made you feel loved. There wasn't a day that passed that you regretted being his or giving him every ounce of adoration and devotion to not only him but his cause. You knew everything, every damned detail and excruciating plot, but you still adored him anyway.
And he loved you endlessly for that.
“Come then, my light. It'll be over before we know it,” Doflamingo purrs before giving the side of your throat another possessive kiss. “Let's get this boring shit over with.”
Entering the grand ballroom, you glanced around at the bougie decor and though you were dressed to the nines in a gold splattered, almost sheer dress, your body covered in thin gold chains sparkling with dew drops of quartz, you felt yourself shrinking under the overwhelming energy that buzzed over your skin.
A large, warm hand meets your uncovered back and guides you towards a circular table in the far back, where a few familiar faces are already seemingly into a few drinks, speaking in low tones right until you and Doflamingo take a seat.
One face in particular keeps eyes on you as you sit, taking in every curve and shiny curl with a quietly greedy gaze. Though Doflamingo doesn't notice, or say anything against it if he did, you on the other hand absolutely noticed.
Sat across the small table from you was none other than Sir Crocodile himself, a glass of what you assumed was whisky gently swirling in his flesh hand. Your eyes met his and he raised an amused eyebrow, a wicked grin coming over his lips as he set down the glass and reached it out towards you.
“How delightful for Doflamingo to bring his little pet to the meeting.”
You let him pick up your hand as you try to fight back the burn that prickles your cheeks and your heart sinks as Doflamingo visibly tenses beside you. You can feel his gaze on your connected hands as Crocodile lifts your much smaller one to his lips and presses an almost too gentle kiss to the back of it before running his ringed thumb over your skin as if to burn the kiss into your flesh.
You simply give a polite smile before sliding your hand from his and scooting your chair a little closer to Doflamingo's. Your pink feathered lover gives a prideful chuff, his half bare chest puffing out slightly as one of his arms snakes around the back of your chair.
“Croccy-baby, I'd appreciate it if you kept your sandy hands off my treasure, while you still have a hand to touch with.” The words that fell from Doflamingo were thick with an unseen threat but it only caused Crocodile to cackle, his head tilted back slightly with eyes crinkled shut in pure delight.
“Doflamingo, you can't bring a fresh piece of meat into a lion's den and not expect the lions to want a taste…” Crocodile nearly purrs as he brings his glass to his lips once more. “And your little pet is… quite the meal.”
Doflamingo flicks out his pointer finger from your shoulder and you watch as one of his threads shoot out right between Crocodile's eyes. The spot disintegrates into sand and you can't help but feel the tension surrounding the table rise to an extreme high.
Crocodile and Doflamingo stare each other down and though it's only a few moments of prickly silence between them, it's enough for someone else at the table to speak up in a monotone voice.
“If you boys can't play nice, we'll cancel the meeting and have it via Den Den, and this will have just been a waste of time for everyone.”
You tilt forward slightly to take in the wide brimmed hat that covered the speaker. Bright yellow hawk-like eyes meet yours from under the brim and a heavy shiver runs down your back, all the way down to your high heeled toes.
Both men glare towards Dracule Mihawk, neither stare doing anything to deter the world's mightiest Swordsman. Mihawk speaks again, this time with his eyes on Crocodile.
“Enough of this nonsense.” His gaze turns to Doflamingo who simply grins under the weighted gaze. “Behave.”
You can't help but wonder how often this has happened - Crocodile and your lover duking it out while Mihawk sits there shaking his head like a disappointed mother.
“Fine.” Crocodile huffs out before downing the rest of his liquor. “Doflamingo, tell me you at least brought the proper paperwork this time,” Crocodile drawls out, already bored, before reaching into his petticoat and pulling out a large cigar.
“Croccy-baby, that only happened one time,” Doflamingo snips back, clearly irritated that he was being spoken to like a child, though he's quick to gloat, “I, unlike some at the table, learn from my mistakes.”
You swear you can hear Crocodile grinding his teeth from behind the cigar.
“Pet.”
You stiffen at the nickname, not expecting to hear it from Mihawk of all people, though you lean forward slightly again to look him in the eye.
“... Y/N.”
Mihawk raises a curious eyebrow at your response before he continues, “I assume Doflamingo gave you an insight on how this meeting will work.” You nod and Crocodile pipes up with a snarking, “Are you his secretary as well, then?”
You can't stop the boiling in your blood as you snap back, "Wouldn't you like to know?” You immediately regret it as a shocked silence falls over the table, though you keep your head high and your gaze dark as you stare down the scarred man.
Doflamingo suddenly bursts out into loud cackles, throwing his head back and face to the ceiling as he laughs, unable to believe you actually spoke back without showing fear. His hand moves to the top of your head, though he's careful not to ruin the curls as he praises you,
“He really would like to know, it seems.” You can hear the joking tone in his voice and you can't help but snicker slightly, hiding a smirk behind your hand before taking a long sip from the offered wine already set on the table.
There's a sigh from Mihawk as he grumbles slightly, “Lovely, there's two of them…”
Crocodile then hisses back to you, “Impudent woman. No wonder Doflamingo keeps you as if you were a pocket pussy.”
A dark energy flares around you at the insult. In a quick movement, you whip a hand out and a thin, shimmering gold chain intertwined with brilliant blue stone attached to your wrist wraps around Crocodile's neck. The metal seemed to steal all the fight from Crocodile with one tug. The Warlord leans back in his chair, clearly struggling to breathe as he glares at you before snapping at Doflamingo in a tight voice, “Make her stop.”
Doflamingo simply grins, tilting his head as he asks in a purr,
“Bold of you to insult my woman, thinking she is weak or unable to take care of herself…” He leans down so his smirking face is next to yours, watching Crocodile struggle with a proud look as he asks, “You truly think I would have a weak nobody beside me?”
When Doflamingo feels Crocodile has suffered enough, he taps your cheek with his fingertips and practically moans in your ear, “Wonderful work, my love. You can stop.”
You blink a few times, shaking your head and snapping your hand upwards, the chain recoiling back to you and rewrapping around your arm. You lean into Doflamingo's side which he seemed to enjoy a little too much, judging by how he immediately began whispering praise to you.
“... Doflamingo, procure the documents.” The snap from Mihawk pulled Doflamingo from murmuring filthy things in your ear, giving a heavy sigh with a roll of his eyes behind his rose tinted shades. “Always such a stiff,” Doflamingo pouts to Mihawk who simply blinks once, unfazed by Doflamingo's antics.
You're able to gather what strength you had left to sit up in your chair, glaring down at Crocodile who watched you with the same disdained look as you finished off your first glass of wine. It's immediately refilled by Doflamingo who goes over the paperwork he pulled from his coat and slapped onto the table. His hand then goes to your thigh as the other slides the papers towards Mihawk.
“You'll see everything is in order.”
Doflamingo's hand inches under your dress, moving higher and higher and you find yourself torn between placing your hand on his wrist to stop him or letting him take what he wants, even under Crocodile's too watchful gaze.
That thought sends a warm shiver over your body, wondering how Crocodile would feel to watch Doflamingo take what was his. Would he get comfortable in his chair and touch himself? Would he be consumed with jealousy and turn to sand before covering every inch of your skin that wasn't being touched by Doflamingo?
Something must have given away your thoughts as Crocodile tilts his head slightly, his gaze moving from your face down your body to where Doflamingo's hand rested, those lithe fingers caressing a little too close to your unclothed core. A wicked smirk comes over his face and you look away, trying to pay attention to the conversation between Doflamingo and Mihawk.
There's a pause between the two as his hand pushes your thighs away from each other slightly before he twists his wrist a bit as his pointer and middle finger slide through your folds, just dipping into your warmth. Your breath catches in your throat and you freeze as Crocodile pipes up in a vice like tone,
“If you're going to be inappropriate at the table, Doflamingo, at least share with the class.”
Doflamingo stops just as the tip of his thumb brushes over your already swollen clit. You bite back a whine, shifting your hips slightly in your chair for some sense of relief, only to have it swiped from you as Doflamingo pulls his hand from under your dress. You keep your gaze anywhere but to the men at the table as Doflamingo lifts his fingers to his lips and licks off your essence with a wicked grin.
“I don't share my woman.” That same hand grips your chin, forcing you to stare up at your shaded lover with cheeks blooming in reds. “Isn't that right, treasure? Tell them.”
You struggle to find your voice and you know punishment is imminent as Doflamingo's jaw clicks, his grin turning dark as he almost seethes out, “Tell. Them.”
You somehow get out, “I'm yours.” Clearly pleased with your words, Doflamingo unhands your chin and you look to your lap almost ashamed, unable to believe you were so overcome with pleasure that you'd allow him to touch you in public - during a meeting for God's sake.
You take a few silent breaths to calm yourself before downing your second glass of wine, ignoring the raised looks from the men at the table though you peek at Crocodile and your heart jumps into your throat at seeing the lustful look on his face.
You give him another dark look in warning and luckily this time, Crocodile is smart enough to glance away from you, acting as if he were paying attention to the murmurs between Doflamingo, Mihawk and a few other men you'd never met before. You refill your own wine glass this time, gingerly sipping on the oaky red liquid as you lean back in your chair.
You can't help but silently hope that this meeting would be over sooner rather than later.
About an hour passes when you excuse yourself for a moment, ignoring the lasting looks on your back as you leave the ball room in search of a bathroom. Once you do, you lock the door and lean your palms on the sides of the sink, staring yourself down in the mirror as if asking yourself, ‘is this even worth it?’
You sigh to yourself before moving away from the mirror, quickly doing your business before washing your hands with another misty sigh. You hum softly under your breath and dry your hands off before looking back up in the mirror, only to give a startled, choked gasp as you take in wisps of thread slowly create the visage of your lover right above your head.
“You've been gone too long, dove,” the words brush past your ear, the words seeming worried but his tone felt a little too mocking for your tastes. “Your presence is missed at the table.” He then pouts slightly, “It's boring without you.”
You can tell he's playing games, trying to keep the air light as he takes in your face, a thread-twisted hand created from thin air as it takes your chin into long fingers. They tilt your head this way and that, shaded eyes watching every inch of your expressions before he finally murmurs,
“I think you should head home.”
You shake your head slightly, ignoring the reminder of Crocodile's burning eyes on your back as you reply lightly, “I'm alright, Doffy. It's nothing I can't handle.”
You can't see it but his eyes narrow behind his shades before his hand moves to your throat, his palm scratching against the thin, gold necklace as he barely squeezes.
“You would disregard my words?” You feel the threat in his words that send shivers over your skin and heat melting your core. Doflamingo's string puppet smirks, just like how he always does when he catches a hint of your desires.
“Mm, perhaps Crocodile is right,” he purrs lowly before dragging his tongue across your sharp jawline, nipping at your throat as he gets closer to your ear and whispers in your ear,
“You are quite a meal, and I grow hungry.”
You aren't given a moment to run his words through your head before you're lifted off the ground and your back is pressed against ice cold marble walls, your dress shoved up to your waist with your legs wrapped tightly around an uncovered waist. You have half a mind to push him off but you stop as the underside of his already erect cock slides against your damp core, his tip catching on your clit and sending pleasure rippling through your entire body.
Doflamingo’s lips meet your throat again as his hips rock against you, his teeth just biting down with a teasing suck against the flesh just as his tip catches against your cunt and begins pressing in. You hiss at the sudden stretch, reminding yourself to relax as you attempt to take him in without proper prep.
“Such a good dove,” he breathes against you as he pulls out just to slide in a little further. One hand gripping your waist and the other tugging your hair to pull your head back enough for you to stare up at him, your eyes half lidded and pupils blown as he makes you take a little more.
“Only I can make you feel like this, hm? Isn't that right, darling?” Like clockwork, the second he's got his claws and cock sunk inside your pillowy warmth, he begs for your attention, demanding you inflate his already enormous ego, which you do without hesitation.
“O-only you,” you barely get out, your breathing hitched and meek as you suddenly feel his tip hit something that makes you see stars. “Oh… Doffy…”
His smirk widens to a full out grin, teeth barred and sharp as he slides nearly his entire length into you. “Such a good girl, taking me s-so well…” His own voice quivers slightly though you miss it, too enamored in the pleasure he offered.
When your fingers tightened around the back of his shirt, he finally set a heavy pace, unrelenting and possessive as he claimed you in the most ornate bathroom you'd ever been in. His mouth found yours and it was immediately a fight for space, your tongues twisting and snaking against each other almost desperately as he thrusted into you over and over.
His hand on your waist moved over slightly until his thumb found your clit, setting a similar tempo in swift circles that pulls a loud moan from your lips, the sound echoing off the ornate walls along with the wet slap of him fucking you. No doubt any passerby would know exactly what was happening in that bathroom.
“Cum for me, my love. Let me feel you, let me fill you…” There's an edge in Doflamingo's voice that tells you he's close. You ignore the ache in your thighs as you cling to him with a soft beg, “Please, please, please…!”
His thumb adds an almost painful amount of pressure to your clit and just as he slides in, you see an endless explosion behind your clenched shut eyes, feeling your cunt flutter and suck him in as he lets a low, rumbled moan escape.
His breathing grows slightly erratic as his thrusting loses its rhythm, now chasing his own high and you feel when he finally cums, though you're left with an empty feeling as the string puppet shoots blanks. You feel his cock throb inside you but that same, gooey warmth the true Doflamingo always leaves you with isn't there, and you're almost filled with a guilty feeling until you hear,
“We're leaving soon,” Your head is pulled back a little more as the string puppet removes his face from your neck to stare down at you. “This isn't the same, as fun as this was.” He leans down and presses one last kiss to you before untangling your legs from his waist.
The second your feet hit the tile, the puppet begins to disappear. It watches as you fix your dress and hair, running a finger over your clearly bitten lips and over the marks on your neck that you'd have no way of covering.
The puppet smirks and leans down to press another kiss to your cheek just as his hips disappear. “He should share more often,” comes from the puppet, which causes your eyes to narrow in the mirror.
“Are you not part of Doflamingo?” You ask, rubbing the remaining smeared lipstick from your lips. Your eyebrows furrow as he cackles, his hands cupping around your arms with almost too gentle fingertips slowly running up and down your skin, the movement almost loving as he admits,
“I am a creation of Doflamingo, nothing more, nothing less.” The puppet's mouth meets your shoulder in a tender move. You're glued to your spot as piercing blue eyes stare at you over the rose tinted glasses, an unfamiliar look in the eyes he shared with Doflamingo. “But that doesn't mean I don't share his desires.”
He shares a final look with you before he disappears, leaving you feeling conflicted as you stare yourself in the mirror for a moment longer.
The second you're able to gather the strength, you finally leave the bathroom and once again ignore the pointed stares from everyone at the table, though the look on Doflamingo's face is a strange mix between pride and fury.
You're not even given a moment to sit down when your feathered lover suddenly stands, his hands slamming on the table as he lowly bites out,
“We're done here.”
You feel slight pride in yourself for not flinching at his outburst, gathering your things from the table silently though you do jump slightly when Crocodiles voice booms out,
“No wonder you seemed so quiet, Donquixote. Judging by the marks covering your little pet, your silence earlier proves you were preoccupied elsewhere.” Crocodile takes a long puff before sneering slightly, “And you didn't even have the decency to prepare show and tell… tsk.”
You roll your eyes, giving him a frown as Doflamingo slides a hand over your chilled back. You feel him flex his fingers slightly against your skin but you think nothing of it, focused more on leaving in one piece.
“Mind your tongue, Croccy, while you still have one.” Warned Doflamingo with a wicked grin, his tone light and playful though the threat remained true. Crocodile smartly said nothing in response.
Doflamingo led you away silently, keeping to himself the entire way back to the ship. The second you stepped foot back into your shared bedroom, your dress and the chains were ripped from your body, the quartz teardrops bouncing off the wooden floors into different directions.
You huffed and crossed your arms, staring up at Doflamingo with an unimpressed expression as you asked, “Something on your mind, my love?”
The moment the words left your lips, you were tied up in buzzing strings, lifted by your wrists as you were tugged back towards his grand bed. Your bare back landed on the plush blankets, your body pressing into the mattress uncomfortably as you were suddenly covered by the just as naked form of your lover.
“My puppet was supposed to come collect you, not fuck you stupid in a fucking washroom.” His words came out in a bite, though they weren't directed at you. You can't help but chuckle softly, moving a tangled hand from above your head to his short hair, running your fingers over the blonde as you murmur softly,
“If it makes it better, it wasn't the same. Familiar but… different.”
Doflamingo rumbles low in his chest, his lips peppering over your chest until they pull a nipple into its warmth. You hum happily at the feeling, letting your legs fall open more as he maneuvers his body over yours more. His hands move up your thighs until one teases over your folds, lithe fingers testing the waters as one slides in and curls upwards.
Your mouth falls open in a silent moan, eyes fluttering shut as he adds a second finger, curling again and again as he bites down on your nipple, causing your back to arch into his mouth.
Soft squelching echoes in the room as he adds a third finger, slowly stretching you to fit him though it's not long that you have your second orgasm of the night, shivers running over your body as you feel the tighten and the snap blind you for a moment. Your breathing falters as your hand falls from his head, meeting the bedspread with a muted thump.
Doflamingo lifts his head with a slight smirk before he pulls his whole body up and covers yours, his lips pressing to yours lovingly as he murmurs, “No one could ever make you feel like this…” He bites and pulls at your bottom lip for a second before letting it go with a growled, “Not even my puppet.”
Your eyes snap open as he thrusts into you in one move, grinning wickedly down at you as he properly takes what he wants. “Mine,” he hisses against your skin, one of his hands roughly gripping your thigh and moving it over his hip. You weakly try to cling to him but you're still weak from your orgasm and can't keep it up, causing your lover to huff irritably before moving himself from you and flipping your body so your front was pressed into the bed.
Brutal hands ripped your hips upwards and you cry out a moan as he slides through your folds again, your sounds muffled by mountains of pillows as he fucks you senseless. A swift hand meets your left cheek and you cry out again, begging moans of “More!” echoing off the sheets.
Doflamingo gave you everything you asked, no matter the price - clothing, food, intimacy, attention… you received it all, and the only thing he demanded in return was eternal love and praise.
And this instance was no different, as your voice bounced off the walls and sang out his praises for the entire ship to hear.

"Rajasthan High Court Weighs Commercial Dispute Amid Criminal Allegations in Agricultural Trade Case"
Given the nature of the dispute, which involves allegations of fraud, it would be improper to dismiss the case outright without examining the evidence. The Court issued notice to the parties for further examination of the matter.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cefcbe98f5801b32dec93cd6595dc8d3/c8ab5b95ecb13ac7-e7/s250x250_c1/1d1a8a4f2e573f76583a19581e3cfd39d84ae7a5.jpg)
Rana Ram v. The State of Rajasthan & another
Crl. Misc Pet. 4893/2024
Before the High Court of Rajasthan at Jodhpur
Heard by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Arun Monga J
Background
The dispute centers around alleged financial irregularities and mismanagement involving trade in agricultural produce at the mandi between the parties at the Krishi Upaj Mandi, where Rana Ram and Shiv Kumar operated their businesses.
This prompted legal action against Rana Ram, who is seeking relief from the criminal proceedings through the petition.
Legal Issue
Whether the criminal proceedings initiated against Rana Ram were justified, given the nature of the dispute, which the petitioner argues should be treated as a civil matter related to business transactions, rather than a criminal offense.
Arguments of the Parties
Petitioner's Argument
The dispute is purely commercial in nature, involving payment discrepancies, and does not warrant criminal charges.
The case should be dealt with under civil law rather than through criminal proceedings.
Respondent's Argument
The petitioner’s actions amounted to criminal conduct, particularly fraud and dishonesty in business dealings.
The criminal case is valid and must proceed.
Court's Observation
While the dispute between the petitioner (Rana Ram) and the respondent (Shiv Kumar) arose out of a business transaction, the key issue was whether the petitioner’s actions were simply a breach of contract or if they involved fraudulent intent to deceive the respondent.
If the petitioner had made false promises or acted dishonestly from the start, it would constitute a criminal offense, even though the context was a business dispute.
However, if the disagreement was purely about non-payment or breach of contract without intent to defraud, the matter should be treated as a civil wrong.
Further investigation was necessary to determine whether the petitioner’s conduct crossed the line into criminal fraud or was simply a civil business dispute.

I criticize the left so frequently as I am a leftist. I want to see leftism thrive and prosper, especially in a time where so many countries are having right wing governments.
And honestly every criticism I have can be boiled down to two root factors.
1. The left loves to watch people suffer more than seeing people succeed
2. The left will 100% harm their neighbors if it means they can be viewed as radical
To elaborate;
The LA fires are a prime recent example. The majority of people in LA are not the elite. Most are closer to homelessness than being the elite. And even if we are talking about the non elite rich, the vast majority aren't rich. I know it's hard to think that when you see a lot of celebs living in LA, but you're forgetting that there are people who are these celebs assistants, people who work on sets. Artists and animators. People who do so much behind the scenes who aren't rich. You also have all the supporting infrastructure. People who work at all the stores, teachers, builders and other trades folk building the infrastructures and keeping people's cars running. Nurses and health care workers.
LA isn't a city full of just rich folk with everyone else spawning in for their shifts and being teleported back to the void when they're done for the day. And these people aren't all just chucked into the "poor" parts of LA. They live all throughout. Some people who live in the rich homes either bought the house themselves decades ago and can't afford it in today's economy. Some their grandparents had money but they don't and the house was passed down to them. Others are forced to live in these areas as that's where the work is and barely scrape by or even have to choose between seeing the doctor and eating.
And the fires are spreading. There is a real possibility that they might not stay in these rich neighborhoods. What happens when they spread? Will the "let is burn" sentiment still exist?. And that's not even touching on the health effects. Smoke travels. It is not safe to breathe in. Its not rare for firefighters to get cancer after fighting massive wildfires. Imagine what it's doing even short-term to people in higher class, middle class and lower class neighborhoods where the smoke has traveled to.
Yet so many on the left have chosen to point and laugh because some of those affected are wealthy. People are so focused on the suffering of those they dislike, that they don't give a shit about those they are neutral towards or like being affected. Not that it should matter. Adam Sandler isn't the one keeping your wages low. Mandy Moore isn't the one causing the cost of living crisis.
And the reaction from the left since Oct 7th is prime example for the second point.
You would rather harm jews to get your radical short lived relief for palestinians than work with jews to create a long term solution and relief for palestinians.
Putting jews down to uplift Palestinians isn't being pro Palestine, it's called being antisemitic. There should be Jewish palestinian solidarity, that is the key to peace. But when goyim actively harm jews for their radikewl revolution moment, it prevents that from happening.
The left is so individualistic currently. You would eat your neighbor if it benefited you. This is not what leftist values are about. It's amount community, getting rid of bigotry, supporting each other.

Paywall-free version
On the outskirts of Austin, Texas, what began as a fringe experiment has quickly become central to the city’s efforts to reduce homelessness. To Justin Tyler Jr., it is home.
Mr. Tyler, 41, lives in Community First! Village, which aims to be a model of permanent affordable housing for people who are chronically homeless. In the fall of 2022, he joined nearly 400 residents of the village, moving into one of its typical digs: a 200-square-foot, one-room tiny house furnished with a kitchenette, a bed and a recliner.
The village is a self-contained, 51-acre community in a sparsely populated area just outside Austin. Stepping onto its grounds feels like entering another realm.
Eclectic tiny homes are clustered around shared outdoor kitchens, and neat rows of recreational vehicles and manufactured homes line looping cul-de-sacs.
There are chicken coops, two vegetable gardens, a convenience store, art and jewelry studios, a medical clinic and a chapel.
Roads run throughout, but residents mainly get around on foot or on an eight-passenger golf cart that makes regular stops around the property.
Mr. Tyler chose a home with a cobalt-blue door and a small patio in the oldest part of the village, where residents’ cactus and rock gardens created a “funky, hippie vibe” that appealed to him. He arrived in rough shape, struggling with alcoholism, his feet inflamed by gout, with severe back pain from nearly 10 years of sleeping in public parks, in vehicles and on street benches.
At first, he kept to himself. He locked his door and slept. He visited the clinic and started taking medication. After a month or so, he ventured out to meet his neighbors.
“For a while there, I just didn’t want to be seen and known,” he said. “Now I prefer it.”
Between communal meals and movie screenings, Mr. Tyler also works at the village, preparing homes for the dozen or more people who move there each month.
In the next few years, Community First is poised to grow to nearly 2,000 homes across three locations, which would make it by far the nation’s largest project of this kind, big enough to permanently house about half of Austin’s chronically homeless population.
Tiny-home villages for people who have been homeless have existed on a small scale for several decades, but have recently become a popular approach to addressing surging homelessness. Since 2019, the number of these villages across the country has nearly quadrupled, to 124 from 34, with dozens more coming, according to a census by Yetimoni Kpeebi, a researcher at Missouri State University.
Mandy Chapman Semple, a consultant who has helped cities like Houston transform their homelessness systems, said the growth of these villages reflects a need to replace inexpensive housing that was once widely available in the form of mobile home parks and single room occupancy units, and is rapidly being lost. But she said they are a highly imperfect solution.
“I think where we’re challenged is that ‘tiny home’ has taken on a spectrum of definitions,” said Chapman Semple. Many of those definitions fall short of housing standards, often lacking basic amenities like heat and indoor plumbing, which she said limits their ability to meet the needs of the population they intend to serve.
But Community First is pushing the tiny home model to a much larger scale. While most of its homes lack bathrooms and kitchens, its leaders see that as a necessary trade-off to be able to creatively and affordably house the growing number of people living on Austin’s streets. And unlike most other villages, many of which provide temporary emergency shelter in structures that can resemble tool sheds, Community First has been thoughtfully designed with homey spaces where people with some of the highest needs can stay for good. No other tiny home village has attempted to permanently house as many people.
Austin’s homelessness rate has been rapidly worsening, and the city’s response has whipped back and forth... In October [2023], the official estimate put the number of people living without shelter at 5,530, a 125 percent increase from two years earlier. Some of that rise is the result of better outreach, but officials acknowledged that more people have become homeless. City leaders vowed to build more housing, but that effort has been slowed by construction delays and resistance from residents.
Meanwhile, outside the city limits, Community First has been building fast. [Note from below the read more: It's outside city limits because the lack of zoning laws keeps more well-off Austin residents from blocking the project, as they did earlier attempts to build inside the city.] In a mere eight years, this once-modest project has grown into a sprawling community that the city is turning to as a desperately needed source of affordable housing. The village has now drawn hundreds of millions of dollars from public and private sources and given rise to similar initiatives across the country.
This rapid growth has come despite significant challenges. And some question whether a community on the outskirts of town with relaxed housing standards is a suitable way to meet the needs of people coming out of chronic homelessness. The next few years will be a test of whether these issues will be addressed or amplified as the village expands to five times its current size.
-via New York Times, January 8, 2024. Article continues below (at length!)
The community versus Community First
For Alan Graham, the expansion of Community First is just the latest stage in a long-evolving project. In the late 1990s, Mr. Graham, then a real estate developer, attended a Catholic men’s retreat that deepened his faith and inspired him to get more involved with his church. Soon after, he began delivering meals as a church volunteer to people living on Austin’s streets.
In 1998, Mr. Graham, now 67, became a founder of Mobile Loaves and Fishes, a nonprofit that has since amassed a fleet of vehicles that make daily rounds to deliver food and clothing to Austin’s homeless...
Talking to people like Mr. Johnston [a homeless Austin resident who Graham had befriended], Mr. Graham came to feel that housing alone was not enough for people who had been chronically homeless, the official term for those who have been homeless for years or repeatedly and have physical or mental disabilities, including substance-use disorders. About a third of the homeless population fits this description, and they are often estranged from family and other networks.
In 2006, Mr. Graham pitched an idea to Austin’s mayor: Create an R.V. park for people coming out of chronic homelessness. It would have about 150 homes, supportive services and easy access to public transportation. Most importantly, it would help to replace the “profound, catastrophic loss of family” he believed was at the root of the problem with a close-knit and supportive community.
The City Council voted unanimously in 2008 to lease Mr. Graham a 17-acre plot of city-owned land to make his vision a reality. Getting the council members on board, he said, turned out to be the easy part.
When residents near the intended site learned of the plan, they were outraged. They feared the development would reduce their property values and invite crime. One meeting to discuss the plan with the neighborhood grew so heated that Mr. Graham was escorted to his car by the police. Not a single one of the 52 community members in attendance voted in favor of the project.
After plans for the city-owned lot fell apart and other proposed locations faced similar resistance, Mr. Graham gave up on trying to build the development within city limits.
In 2012, he instead acquired a plot of land in a part of Travis County just northeast of Austin. It was far from public transportation and other services, but it had one big advantage: The county’s lack of zoning laws limited the power of neighbors to stop it.
Mr. Graham raised $20 million and began to build. In late 2015, Mr. Johnston left the R.V. park he had been living in and became the second person to move into the new village. It grew rapidly. In just two years, Mr. Graham bought an adjacent property, nearly doubling the village’s size to 51 acres and making room for hundreds more residents.
And then in the fall of 2022, he broke ground on the largest expansion yet: Adding two more sites to the village, expanding it by 127 acres to include nearly 2,000 homes.
“No one ever really did what they first did, and no one’s ever done what they’re about to do,” said Mark Hilbelink, the director of Sunrise Navigation Center, Austin’s largest homeless-services provider. “So there’s a little bit of excitement but also probably a little bit of trepidation about, ‘How do we do this right?’”
What it takes to make a village
Since he moved into Community First eight years ago, Mr. Johnston has found the stability that eluded him for so long. Most mornings, he wakes up early in his R.V., feeds his scruffy adopted terrier, Amos, and walks a few minutes down a quiet road to the village garden, where neat rows of carrots, leeks, beets and arugula await his attention.
Mr. Johnston worked in fast-food restaurants for most of his life, but he learned how to garden at the village. He now works full time cultivating produce for a weekly market that is free to residents.
“Once I got here, I said, This is where I’m going to spend pretty much my entire life now,” Mr. Johnston said.
Everyone at the village pays rent, which averages about $385 a month. The tiny homes that make up two-thirds of the dwellings go for slightly lower, but have no indoor plumbing; their residents use communal bathhouses and kitchens. The rest of the units are R.V.s and manufactured homes with their own bathrooms and kitchens.
Like Mr. Johnston, many residents have jobs in the village, created to offer residents flexible opportunities to earn some income. Last year, they earned a combined $1.5 million working as gardeners, landscapers, custodians, artists, jewelry makers and more, paid out by Mobile Loaves and Fishes.
Ute Dittemer, 66, faced a daily struggle for survival during a decade on the streets before moving into Community First five years ago with her husband. Now she supports herself by painting and molding figures out of clay at the village art house, augmented by her husband’s $800 monthly retirement income. A few years ago, a clay chess set she made sold for $10,000 at an auction. She used the money to buy her first car.
“I’m glad that we are not in a low-income-housing apartment complex,” she said. “We’ve got all this green out here, air to breathe.”
A small number of residents have jobs off-site, and a city bus makes hourly stops at the village 13 times a day to help people commute into town.
But about four out of five residents live on government benefits like disability or Social Security. Their incomes average $900 a month, making even tiny homes impossible to afford without help, Mr. Graham said.
“Essentially 100 percent of the people that move into this village will have to be subsidized for the rest of their lives,” he said.
For about $25,000 a year, Mr. Graham’s organization subsidizes one person’s housing at the village. (Services like primary health care and addiction counseling are provided by other organizations.) So far, that has been paid for entirely by private donations and in small part from collecting rent.
This would not be possible, Mr. Graham said, without a highly successful fund-raising operation that taps big Austin philanthropists. To build the next two expansions, Mr. Graham set a $225 million fund-raising goal, about $150 million of which has already been obtained from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, the founder of the Patrón Spirits Company, Hill Country Bible Church and others.
Support goes beyond monetary donations. A large land grant came from the philanthropic arm of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Alamo Drafthouse, an Austin-based cinema chain, donated an outdoor amphitheater for movie screenings. Top architectural firms competed for the chance to design energy-efficient tiny homes free of charge. And every week, hundreds of volunteers come to help with landscaping and gardening or to serve free meals.
Around 55 residents, including 15 children, live in the village as “missionals” — unpaid neighbors generally motivated by their Christian faith to be part of the community.
All missionals undergo a monthslong “discernment process” before they can move in. They pay to live in R.V.s and manufactured homes distinguished by an “M” in the front window. Their presence in the community is meant to guard against the pitfalls of concentrated poverty and trauma.
“Missionals are our guardian angels,” said Blair Racine, a 69-year-old resident with a white beard that hangs to his chest. “They’re people we can always call. They’re always there for us.”
After moving into the village in 2018, Mr. Racine spent two years isolated in his R.V. because of a painful eye condition. But after an effective treatment, he became so social that he was nicknamed the Mayor. Missional residents drive him to get his medication once a week, he said. To their children he is Uncle Blair.
Though the village is open to people of any religious background, it is run by Christians, and public spaces are adorned with paintings of Jesus on the cross and other biblical scenes. The application to live in the community outlines a set of “core values” that refer to God and the Bible. But Mr. Graham said there is no proselytizing and people do not have to be sober or seek treatment to live there.
Mr. Graham lives in a 399-square-foot manufactured home in the middle of the village with his wife, Tricia Graham, who works as the community’s “head of neighbor care.” He said they do not have any illusions about solving the underlying mental-health and substance-use problems many residents live with, and that is not their goal.
“This is absolutely not nirvana,” Mr. Graham said. “And we want people to understand the beauty and the complexity of what we do. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on the face of the planet than right here in the middle of this, but you’re not fixing these things.” ...
From an experiment to a model
Community First has already inspired spinoffs, with some tweaks. In 2018, Nate Schlueter, who previously worked with the village’s jobs program, opened Eden Village in his hometown, Springfield, Mo. Unlike in Community First, every home in Eden Village is identical and has its own bathroom and kitchen. Mr. Schlueter’s model has spread to 12 different cities with every village limited to 50 homes or fewer.
“Not every city is Austin, Texas,” Mr. Schlueter said. “We don’t want to build a large-scale village. And if the root cause of homelessness is a loss of family, and community is something that can duplicate that safety net to some extent, to have smaller villages to me seemed like a stronger community safety net. Everybody would know each other.”
The rapid growth of Community First has challenged that ideal. In recent years, some of the original missional residents and staff members have left, finding it harder to support the number of people moving into the village. Steven Hebbard, who lived and worked at the village since its inception, left in 2019 when he said it shifted from a “tiny-town dynamic” where he knew everyone’s name to something that felt more like a city, straining the supportive culture that helped people succeed.
Mobile Loaves and Fishes said more staff members had recently been hired to help new residents adjust, but Mr. Graham noted that there was a limit to what any housing provider could do without violating people’s privacy and autonomy.
Despite these concerns, the organization, which had been run entirely on private money, has recently drawn public support. In January 2023, Travis County gave Mobile Loaves and Fishes $35 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to build 640 units as part of its expansion.
Then four months later came a significant surprise: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved the use of federal housing vouchers, which subsidize part or all of a low-income resident’s rent, for the village’s tiny homes. This will make running the village much more financially sustainable, Mr. Graham said, and may make it a more replicable blueprint for other places.
“That’s a big deal for us, and it’s a big deal on a national basis,” Mr. Graham said. “It’s a recognition that this model, managed the way that this model is, has a role in the system.”
Usually, the government considers homes without indoor plumbing to be substandard, but, in this case, it made an exception by applying the housing standards it uses for single-room-occupancy units. The village still did not meet the required ratio of bathrooms per person, but at the request of Travis County and the City of Austin’s housing officials, who cited Austin’s “severe lack of affordable housing” that made it impossible for some homeless people with vouchers to find anywhere else to live, HUD waived its usual requirements.
In the waiver, a HUD staffer wrote that Mr. Graham told HUD officials over the phone that the proportion of in-unit bathrooms “has not been an issue.” But in conversations with The Times, other homeless-service providers in Austin and some village residents said the lack of in-unit bathrooms is one of the biggest problems people have with living there. It also makes the villages less accessible to people with certain disabilities and health issues that are relatively common among the chronically homeless....
Mr. Graham said that with a doctor’s note, people could secure an R.V. or manufactured home at the village, although those are in short supply and have a long waiting list. He said the village’s use of tiny homes allowed them to build at a fraction of the usual cost when few other options existed, and helps ensure residents aren’t isolated in their units, reinforcing the village’s communal ethos.
“If somebody wants to live in a tiny home they ought to have the choice,” Mr. Graham said, “and if they are poor we ought to respect their civil right to live in that place and be subsidized to live there.” But he conceded that for some people, “this might not be the model.”
“Nobody can be everything for everyone,” he said.
By the spring of 2025, Mr. Graham hopes to begin moving people into the next phase of the village, across the street from the current property. The darker visions some once predicted of an impoverished community on the outskirts of town overtaken by drugs and violence have not come to pass. Instead, the village has permanently housed hundreds of people and earned the approval and financial backing of the city, the county and the federal government. But for the model to truly meet the scale of the challenge in Austin and beyond, Chapman Semple said, the compromises that led to Community First in its current incarnation will have to be reckoned with.
“We can build smaller villages that can be fully integrated into the community, that can have access to amenities within the community that we all need to live, including jobs and groceries,” Chapman Semple said. “If it’s a wonderful model then we should be embracing and fighting for its inclusion within our community.”

One of the (your) girls -
Max Verstappen x Fem!Reader
first imagine what do y’all think? ive loved this song since it came out it’s been on my mind and max is simply the hottest so. enjoy luvs
lock me up and throw away the key
“fuck yeah take it shatje, so good” he pounded into your throat and gripped your hair unforgivingly.
This was your typical night, when he wasn’t on his sim or partying he was with you, he didn’t love you, you both knew that but the way he fucked you made you feel ethereal. He saw you as merely an object but you weren’t exactly opposed to it, just as long as you felt loved while he thrusted into you with force.
He knows how to get the best out of me
He shoved his fingers further down your throat as you gagged, attempting to pull away.
“no no no shatje, i know what you can take, trust me?” you nodded apprehensively
“bad idea”
i’m no fools for the world to see
you and max were arguing. Again.
“you can’t just fuck me, treat me like shit and then go and tell everyone!”
you screamed at him as he walked over, admiring how his shirt swam on your smaller figure.
After a few moments of silence and him coming closer just to stare depose into your eyes
“say something!” you finally snapped, growing angry at the love? he was looking at you with
“oh shatje you never were good at shutting up”
he taunts you placing a callused hand on your wet cheek.
with a sudden burst of confidence you say “fuck you max” immediately cowering seeing his expression shift from admiration to dissatisfaction.
trade my whole life just to be
You stumble, the sting against your skin was cold at first, before heat and pain began radiating from your right cheek. You stare at him in disbelief as you burst into tears.
“come here mijn schatzi” he opened his arms, and you mentally shunned yourself for collapsing into his chest. Arms tucked in front of yourself protectively as his firm grip rests around you. He places gentle kisses on you head before resting his chin atop your head.
top of the world but i’m still not free
“why do you care Max?!?” you yelled at him trying not to cry out of frustration “you have said so many times - We. Aren’t. Dating” I emphasise the words.
“That doesn’t mean you care wear this slutty dress and let men look at you as if they want to do what only i’m allowed to!”
Max raises his voice to conquer my feeling of control.
“It’s just a dress, Max!” you can barely finish the sentence before he pushes you against a wall pinning your hands with one of his big, strong, veiny hands.
“Listen here, you EVER raise you voice to me again and you will fucking regret it” he is dangerously close to your face, daring, waiting for you to say something. You bite your tongue and look up at him with pure anger.
“brat” he spits “can’t even go to one gathering without my dick so you wear this?”
it was a dark red cocktail dress with a deep neck line and a split up the leg. It showed off his favourite parts of you and in one of his favourite colours. You were teasing him. something in your eyes while you were talking to charles said “come on, play with me.” he wouldn’t.
“well i guess if you won’t, someone else will” you say under your breathe. He caught it.
this is a secret that i keep
The jealousy pulsing through his body as he violently rubbed your sensitive clit while fucking you into the bed was unfamiliar to him. This was his way of taking back control.
He told himself continuously that he felt nothing for you, but the warmth of your skin against his became his favourite feeling.
-
“so what’s even going on with you and Max” your best friend Ella asked for the 100th time.
“I know Ella, it’s complicated-“ She gripped your hand with a pleading look in her eyes.
“I know what you’re going to say, and i won’t comment but please” she grips tighter looking into your soul. She always had a way of doing that, she had helped me through so mandy harsh places and she was now helping me through my first ever “relationship” that was basically just fuck buddies but he would buy me things sometimes.
“you’re a beautiful person inside and out, don’t let him abuse that”
Until he’s gone I can never find peace
Sitting on my bathroom floor as he begged me to let him in, he knocked on the door.
“Baby please, come out we can figure this out, we can talk” You could’ve sworn you heard his voice break towards the end. Manipulator.
I quickly stood up opening the door, as he stumbles back I push him, he barely flinches.
“HOW FUCKING DARE YOU” I have never been this angry, the anger only a boyfriend should be able to cause.
“baby please! i swear it was a few months ago” i had found texts on his phone some slut who he fucked when we were still “together”
“It doesn’t matter, we never have dated and we are not dating! you can fuck who you want!” Wrong.
“I just care that you can be balls deep in a girl and i’m not even allowed to flirt with a guy!”
It was true, Max and you both know how jealous he is, so sensitive to rejection.
“Oh shatje, it’s not like that-“ he raised his hands in emphasis.
“Then what is it like?! HUH?”
Trained my whole life just to be
Before Max you were a virgin, barely even made with a guy before. He loved it, relished in the innocence, the way you gripped his arms and scratched his back as he first entered you.
“So tight” he repeated, praise and degradations fell from his lips as he refused to kiss you. He doesn’t want any romance, just a stress reliever, to ruin that innocent. No intimacy.
Now you were well trained to him, so responsive and most of the time obedient. Unless you were acting up, in a bratty mood which he loved as well.
“Still want to act like a brat?” he stilled his vicious thrusts into your sore centre.
“N-no i swear i’ll be good”
On him the instant you wanted to be filled to the brim.
We don’t gotta be in love no, i don’t gotta be the one no…
You knew you meant nothing to him, just a pet, a few holes to fill when angry or bored.
However recently things had shifted
“Fuck you’re so beautiful like this, my pretty girl” your heart exploded in every way possible as the rare praise fell from his lips that were now attached to yours.
He kissed you? he never did that, to intimate, it meant he was admitting what you would never believe- he was in love with you.
i just wanna be one of your girls tonight
“i can’t do this anymore max” you shamefully admitted as you sat next to him on his couch avoiding eye contact
He looked at you in shock and sadness, who wouldn’t want him.
“what?” he struggles to get out and his heart drops at the thought.
“I’m in love with you max, and ignoring this is killing me, It’s driving me insane knowing you couldn’t give less of a shit about me when i would do anything for you” you didn’t even realise that tears had started to fall from your tired eyes.
“I can’t keep waiting for you to call me, just to kick me to the curb once you finish. The sec is amazing, i can’t lie” you are now facing him as he fiddles with his hands. He usually intimidating aura shattering at the thought of losing you.
“But this” you say gesturing to the air between you “is driving me insane”
“You’re in love with me?” no one had ever said such things to him, the rare conversations you would have, the laughs, the times where you would fall asleep in his arms after going at it for hours and he could actually sleep for once. holding you protectively against him.
“Yes max” there’s no need to say more. you stand and reach for your bag, his hand catches your wrist.
“But i treat you like shit, but i don’t want to, i don’t mean to, I-I-I just” did max verstappen just stutter?
He stands to be facing you “Can’t you see, i’m so in love with you it drives me insane, you so funny, and smart, and you are the most beautiful person i have ever seen, please just-“
You look into his now teary blue eyes with an expression he can’t really read, anger? sadness? frustrating? all of it.
“And you just say this now? seriously?”
“I was to scared to admit it! i’ve never been in love but i fell so hard and i thought that maybe if i treated you like this then i could get over you but i can’t- i can’t Y/n” he is gripping the sides of your face begging you not to look away, not to leave.
“This way everyone would stay away from you, and i could be with you without the commitment” He finally admits.
“Max is cant-“ your mind is racing a mile a minute.
“Please, please, please don’t leave, i promise ill- i don’t know” he is now on his knees, hugging your hips.
“I don’t want to be like this, teach me please, how to love, how to treat you like you deserve, because you deserve the world” These soft words, these compliments, confessions feel foreign to you both, but they feel good.
After a moment of silence you pull his hair back to be looking up at you, his usually cold demeanour broken down.
“one chance, and you better give it all you have-“ you can barely finish before he’s lifting you and throwing you over his muscular shoulder.
“max!” you yelp as he places you on the bed, crawling to suck, kiss, bite every part of you. Anything he can get.
“I will do anything, i will buy you everything you want” you stop him
“I don’t want jewels and bags, i want love, i want to be on you’re mind, i want you to be driven as crazy as i was, i want to fill that massive hole in your heart that you told me about when you were drunk” You tell him sweetly.
“I will, dates, snuggles, love i will be your first, best and last i swear!” he looks up to you with that look you claimed you hated, like you hung the stars in the sky, like the the reason the planets are in orbit, like he’s in love.
You’re not one his girls, he is your man, and you - his woman.

2024 Year In Review
2024 was another intense year. It was the first time in twenty years I wasn’t scoring a show for TV, and I got to concentrate on finishing albums and starting new projects. The year began with the premiere of my chamber symphony for Alterity Chamber Orchestra in Orlando and ended with guest-vocalizing with the Losers Lounge Band on a Bowie classic at Joe's Pub in NYC. I completed new albums for Xordox and Venture Bros, to be released in 2025. I released an Archer Soundtrack album and scored a Harry Smith film for L’Etrange Festival in Paris. Worked with Laura Wolf on a new project and premiered my Ensemble project at the Big Ears Festival in Tennessee. Recorded many overdubs for the next Foetus album, also to be released in 2025. Began a new series of sculptural wall pieces. We lost Phill Niblock in January and Steve Albini in May. We lost my colleague Roli Mosimann in September. I still woke up 5am in a panic on too many occasions. As a cultural omnivore, many sights, sounds and stimuli penetrated me.

Background
Reddie was born in Germany in 1935. When the Soviet Union took over, Reddie had been ten years old. The Martin family ended up living in DDR, East Berlin. Lucio Martin had been disfigured by the war and unable to provide for his family. Reddie smuggled illegal goods from West Germany when they turned 15. The same year Wilhelmina divorced Lucio and remarried to Fritz Hoffmann, Reddie’s former primary school teacher and former nazi supporter. Lucio was transported to a facility for chronically ill. Reddie never forgave this and blames their mother for tearing the family apart.
Eventually they were caught by KGB and Reddie crossed the border to west in late 1956. Reddie sailed across the Atlantic and ended in Cuba where they met the Martino crime family members in 1957. Reddie became a wise guy and disguised themself as a man for months. Only capo Toni Pontini and soldier Bruno Caruso knew. They were nicknamed Reddie due to their reddish hair and ‘ready cash’ pun. Reddie did racketeering, sabotage and spying and partook in drug trade and battery. One Cuban officer was shot by them.

After a while, Reddie chose to move to New York and unite with Santo Martin’s gang. They received new papers as Mandy Brown by Toni’s associate. Santo’s gang didn’t believe Reddie’s tale and kicked them out. Reddie did more racketeering and trade while taking low-paid jobs and trying to get hired by the local mafia for two years. The Police arrested them for stealing and having no permit for firearm. Reddie managed to contact Toni who then hired a corrupted lawyer and Reddie got out without bail.
A week later, the Police double-checked Reddie’s papers and the pistol they were gifted by Toni. FBI got involved and Reddie escaped to the streets. Now homeless, broke and wanted, Reddie saw Murkoff’s ad and joined the Project Lathe Two in 1959 September. The plan was to get “rehabilitated” long enough for FBI to give up on the chase and go work for the gang again at the headquarters, Louisiana.
Personality
Reddie acts like they were born in the mob. They are blunt, business oriented and indifferent to violence. Reddie says what’s on their mind whether it’s a tasteless pun or a weird memory no one else understands. They like to joke a lot and tell wild stories some which are exaggerated. Reddie often takes newbies under their wing and guides them through the trials, only to later blackmail them for favours.
In a way, Reddie comes across self-centred: they think adding Franco Barbi as a prime asset was targeted at them. They don’t have proof of this, but it feels like it is. The same goes for other reagents: if one behaves suspiciously, Reddie is quick to think it has something to do with them. Paranoia plays a role in this. Years of illegal activity has taught Reddie to be observant and on their guard with everyone. The other reason is that Reddie views themself as a potential threat to Murkoff. Again, a wild assumption without proof but for Reddie it makes most sense.
Reddie tries to be a team leader, but they are emotional and juvenile type in nature. If someone tells them they can’t do something, they’ll prove them wrong. If someone commands them to be still, they’ll complain and make an excuse to stand. If someone tells them to act like a lady, they’ll curse and raise their fist. Simply, Reddie does when asked, not ordered. They don’t like to be bossed and they negotiate on everything.
Reddie’s weak point is navigation and patience on trials. The maze is their worst enemy. Once they learn how each task works, they tend to rush into the action, alerting ex-pops nearby and setting off sound traps. Reddie bashes through doors instead of unlocking them too. The teammates following behind are the ones paying the price for this.

Relationships
Relatives
Leo Martin – Reddie's younger cousin. Reddie taught him smuggling in the past and told him to come join them in New York once he’s old enough. Leo could be living in New York by now.
Lucio Martin – Reddie loves him dearly and would like to bring him to America if possible.
Santo Martin – Reddie never met the great-uncle but they heard stories and saw photos of him. Grandpa Angelo and grandma Marcella received letters from him that Reddie would read.
Wilhelmina Martin – Reddie has a complicated relationship with her. She is their mother, but Wilhelmina has never fully accepted Reddie the way they are. Deep down, Reddie wants this acceptance despite everything that has happened between them.
Fritz Hoffmann - Reddie despises the stepfather. He mistreated Reddie in school and continued doing so after marrying Wilhelmina. Reddie is ashamed of him since Fritz had been a vocal supporter of Hitler’s government.
The mob
Toni Pontini – Toni took Reddie in and taught them the ways of the mafia. He saw potential in Reddie and was willing to act against rules to make them a member.
Bruno Caruso – Bruno came up with the nickname Reddie the day they met. He taught them how to place car bombs.
Salvatore Barbi – Reddie spoke with Don once on the phone. He mentioned the Martino family could make them a permanent member if Reddie’s up to it.
Sinyala Facility
Mother Gooseberry – Reddie finds her somewhat scary. She reminds them of Wilhelmina whenever she’s aggravated. They try not to interact with her during trials. They know Dr Futterman is a puppet but they often forget this and think Futterman is a separate entity that says funny things and makes Reddie laugh. Dr Easterman recommends more trials with Gooseberry since her presence gets interesting results.
Leland Coyle – Reddie thinks it’s ironic there is a cop calling them guilty because it’s true. Reddie is more bark than bite with him though. It’s fun to shout back at him and make him act like a fool as long as there are bricks and a stun rig available. Once the chase is on, Reddie is quick to vanish from sight. They are planning to build a bomb and bring it to the police station – a little payback for the justice system. Plus, to see that cop crying his eyes out.
Franco Barbi – Reddie and Franco never met before but Reddie was told who he was. Toni and the rest gossiped about him in graphic detail. When Franco’s prime asset debut came, Reddie had been shocked to see Don’s son face-to-face. They think Murkoff’s planning something by adding him. Overall, Reddie views Franco as a fellow mobster and isn’t jolted by his level of violence. They want to form a possible allyship with him, if only Franco would stop aiming Lupara at them and hear Reddie’s offer.
Trivia
Reddie’s haircut is inspired by photos of younger Santo Martin before he moved to US.
Reddie hates their first name Brunhilde, always has. It was their great-grandma's name.
Their favourite colour has always been yellow, and their favourite flower is sunflower.
Reddie is fluent in German and their Italian is decent, yet they intentionally speak like a mafioso.
Reddie had one affair in Cuba. With an older, wealthy and married, woman named Melina.
Reddie has a fedora in their room. They never wear it but it’s there as an inside joke.
Reddie is often misgendered and people can’t decide on their pronouns so they can be she to one person and he to someone else. Reddie doesn’t care.
Reddie has a habit on dropping hints of their criminal past and random names. They never explain if someone asks.
