mis headcanons de eltingville pt2: jerry stokes

jerry, cuando era chico, era constantemente excluido y maltratado por sus compañeros. por ello empezó a sentir que había algo mal en él y a la larga afectó su autoestima y sus pocas capacidades para socializar.

también en esa misma etapa le diagnosticaron autismo, y el le atribuyó sus malas experiencias pasadas a su condición, causando que llegue a la conclusión de que su "diferencia" con los demás niños va más allá de sus gustos y personalidad.

el día que conoció a bill, lo marcó para siempre. jerry lo considera la primera persona en el colegio que lo trató bien y lo incluyó, derivando en una especie de dependencia hacia el. son incontables las veces que el justificaba sus malas actitudes e incluso llegaba a imitarlo. jerry quería convencerse de que estaba exagerando todo y que bill en el fondo era una buena persona (aunque él haya llorado muchas noches antes de ir a dormir por culpa de su "amigo")

está confirmado que jerry es incapaz de interactuar con las mujeres, ¿pero como conoció a agnes zawatsky? para mí, en una clase de historia les tocó hacer un trabajo juntos y conectaron tan bien que la amistad surgió rápidamente. compartían gustos y pasatiempos en común, mas de una vez jerry se reunió con ella fuera del club y por estas salidas el llegaba más tarde o se iba más temprano de las juntadas del club. los chicos empezaron a notar estos percances y a escuchar rumores de que el rubio aparentemente consiguió novia, tramando un malicioso plan para alejarlo de ella en caso de confirmarlo. sin embargo, el mismo día en el que iban a llevar a cabo su plan, descubrieron que agnes estaba afuera del hogar de bill y ahí todo les hizo sentido. la echaron "educadamente" (ella terminó llorando) y luego bill se encargó de cerrar con broche de oro el plan, mintiendole con que jerry les hablaba lascivamente de ella y que solo era su amigo con el fin de dejar de ser virgen. agnes se sintió completamente decepcionada de su ex amigo y la última vez que hablaron, ella lo ignoró.

el "ghosteo" de agnes angustió completamente a jerry, reviviendo su sentimiento de ser un raro sin causa.

I interpret Agnes as being Jerry’s friend, rather than crush. Mostly because it emphasises the rest of the club’s toxicity, sabotaging Jerry from having female friends/friends outside of the club, and how they can’t view relationships with women as anything other than sexual

you know I always have this thought of analysing why Jerry's eyes are always closed

Jerry stood out from the rest of the club in many ways, and one of them is the design choice of having his eyes closed most of the time. from the beginning, I thought Jerry was near sighted and could've need glasses but he doesn't as we see in the comics, he can open his eyes normally, albeit smaller and more slanted than Bill and Josh's eyes. sometimes, Jerry has circle white eyes like Pete, but this was mostly in the animation pilot.

so why does Jerry have his eyes closed all the time? the easy answer is to show his blindness and meekness towards his friends' mean actions with each other. now Jerry is quite aware of this, but he became their doormat cus their the only friends he had. it could also represent his own blindness of himself. as we know, Jerry is no saint. He's as much as problematic with the other three.

it wasn't until the aftermath of the fire in This fan, This monster we see Jerry has tearful opened eyes, finally seeing the club's problematic friendship and afterwards saying this is end of the eltingville club. Epilogue Jerry still has his eyes open, showing he's done better for himself over the years. however, what's interesting, Epilogue Jerry's eyes returned to the regular squinting after Bill confessed he spread the rumor of him and Agnes years ago and then start lunging at Bill.

so that's my opinion on Jerry's eyes. overall, this was honestly quite rushed when I typed this. I just really want this thought to get out and share it with you guys.

So, thanks to Evan Dorkin, I decided to give Agnes lore/headcanon. Because I love her, even though she was mentioned once.

Lore:

Who was Agnes before meeting Jerry? :

She's an average/unpopular girl. She wasn't attractive, the girl had acne and dressed as if she's preparing herself to spend her quality time in the library. After school she would spend her time in the school library as a personal assistant or be with her small group of friends who held up the usual book club.

How did she meet Jerry? What caused them to interact to one another? :

They both had the same Biology class, they never spoke to one another. There was never a reason for her to speak to him, and same with him. Until the teacher had assigned them both to work on a project with one another. Having to spend with each other for a week straight during class and afterwards. In such a short period of time, Agnes had picked up Jerry's interest with fantasy/DnD. Causing her to open up with her passion for literature, even showing him the written work she had done with her personal journal that she kept with her 24/7. A friendship between them both began to bloom from their special interests without judgement.

How did their friendship affect the Eltingville club? :

Jerry always seemed so... Distracted? Although he was still passionate with the club and when it came to hosting their usual campaign. The guy seemed eager to finish the club meetings earlier than usual, and would be the first one to leave the basement to head somewhere. Where? Who knows. Didn't help that every time in the hallway, he would always stand in a certain spot by Pete's locker, waving at a random girl that would pass by everytime after the 5th period. So giddy and happy, and Agnes was the same. Bill was the one who first began to pick this up.

Romantic or simply platonic? :

I would probably like to think it was more of a romantic in a sense. Although both of them never would want to admit it out loud due to fear of rejection. Agnes was the first girl who seemed to genuinely like being around Jerry without insulting or berating him. Jerry was a guy who seemed to appreciate her literature and would listen to her ramble about her concerns with her rough drafts.

Aftermath :

So, Agnes avoids Jerry as a plague. Thanks to Bill's lies, she feels as if everyone at school thinks she slept with Jerry. Jerry would guess that her avoiding him meant that she was no longer interested in being friends with him, which upsets him but goes back to his usual routine to forget.

Epilogue Agnes

Thanks to Bill, she is very hesitant around men in general. Afraid that a man she will befriend would automatically end up like Jerry. The only men she interacts with are her coworkers at her job, family members, or Bill.

Bill and she aren't friends, not one bit. But she often checks up on him. Only kept contact with him because she felt as if she owed him for telling her about Jerry's inappropriate comments towards her.

She's a news anchor, and went to University to get the proper education to get to that position.

I would add more headcanons soon as a teenager and more as an adult. My brain is going to explode, and this post is already long.
