Some doodles of Cody and Rex from my Dragon shifter AU (AKA: my How To Train Your Dragon/ Clone Wars crossover)
Wanted to practice drawing the Duskfury/Cody’s dragon form. Plus conceptualize Rex’s dragon form.
Also since Cody was the first clone to gain his dragon from from his damaged chip, the first person he told/showed (other than Obi-Wan) was Rex. Except Rex was totally a dramatic little brother about it.
See my previous post about this AU for more details if you’re interested.

some concepts for a httyd mandalorian au i had after rewatching the How To Train Your Dragon movies.
someone needs to expand on the untapped potential of a httyd x mandalorian crossover because the armor designs are nothing but extra when it comes to Hiccup especially in Hidden World. but alas I suck at drawing armor.

Cursed Mandalorian dragon for the WIP game this week, please?
They tried to kill it several times. But here’s the catch: they’ve managed to cut off one of the monster’s limbs once and it grew back with a sickening crack of bones and the emergence of flesh. Horrific, one of the Korda’s Defence Force’s officers said with a shudder and a look of fear in their eyes, like watching someone get mangled.

A bit of rambling mood!
Been thinking about another AU where Din Djarin is in a different universe. (Like more on Altea (Akumu’s homeworld) Basically I’m putting that character into a different universe, if that makes sense.
He is raised with both of his parents. Both parents share custody of him, usually Din likes to stay with his mother more than his father. (But due to the circumstances, it’s hard for Din to stay with Akumu a lot as a lot of people would easily find out. But they made it to work.)
Drake Djarin and Akumu Kokuryuu is the biological parents, making him a Royal Dragocian as well. AND a Guardian, thanks to both parents being a Guardian.
Din keeps his father’s last name because Drake wanted his son to have his name. Akumu accepted as she would want him to have his name regardless. But if they both marry, Akumu’s last name will be passed on both Drake and Din, due to the Royal Family rules. (Unfortunately, where she came from, she had no royal family but being a Queen. That makes her the first person in that family line. By law, that last name must be passed on as it is Royal.) Until then, they will decide when they are ready.
Din is old enough to keep his last name so the parents can marry each other without changing their son’s last name. (They are not married as they want to keep it off records due to multiple reasons.)
Drake came from a long line of generals and soldiers. He may carry exceptional leadership skills, his family is not royal at all. (There are deep buried secret of human bloodline being found in that family line. The old family kept it a secret and made sure no one finds out. But unfortunately, taking the DNA test can say otherwise.) So, thankfully, Drake looked fully Royal Dragocian anyway so that is easily looked over and not questioned. (His family is Royal Dragocians. But that does not make them “Royal” tho.) (yes, there can be winged and wingless trait. Wingless trait is more dominant than the other.)
Akumu has a human bloodline in her but due to being genetically modified by the Core, that cannot proven what she is. Her DNA does show she is a natural born Royal Dragocian.
Since Drake and Akumu fell in love, it is not acceptable as one is not from a Royal family. This makes Din a half Prince. T_T And due to that, no one would look at Akumu or her son the same since the father is not royal. Unfortunately, even they kept it a secret. Someone found out on that fateful event. Akumu was bringing her son away from the falling sky cities and Drake was the one who handed Din to her. Some of the agents saw this but did not questioned it at the time. After the events, one general decided to ask who was the boy. Akumu chooses not to answer that question as Drake himself would not want anyone to know. But the general got quite forceful with the questions, Akumu hesitatingly answered that question. Everyone in that room was surprised and extremely disappointed in her for loving such a person, let alone a non-royal being. One made it a pretty big deal about it and demanded Akumu to remove Drake and her son out of her life. Akumu refused to do so as it was her choice. (I’ll make the story lol before I make it here.)
Din is an agent who is working his up to work for Akumu. As of right now, he is considered a High Agent but he is not in Akumu’s work team quite yet. His goal is to become one of the Royal Guards that works directly for the Guardians. (Not specific on which Guardians.) He is one of the best agents they have that is working his way up. He is highly trained with weapons, (Obviously.) knows many languages, and is quite knowledgeable about aircrafts. He knows how to fight and he does pull his punches since he hides his identity by being a random human who looked like he seen some crazy stuff. He covers half of his face and always makes sure he appears human to everyone he works with. (Due to that incident, it pretty much scares him if he reveals that part of himself. But that was like 20-30 years ago.) He still does hate droids but not many knows. There are different kinds of droids and machinery. He’s not particularly fond of any of them. He likes his armor shiny, that for sure. (He is usually referred to “Silver Warrior”.)
Unfortunately, Grogu isn’t in this AU since I’m trying to figure out where Grogu can fit in this AU. Din could just adopt him somewhere but I kinda wanna have it a special moment where Din has to adopt him cuz he’s too cute. (I’m thinking maybe when Din is a bit older when he finds Grogu? Like in late 500 or early 600 years old.) So, Imma just build Din’s part alone for now.

Weird Egg?
Okay so in theory, Obi-Wan was plausibly on Mandalore when Anakin was born, right?
(this is technically a variation on a few other fics and AUs I've seen, and I'll list the stuff that came to mind at the end.)
While on Mandalore, Obi-Wan finds An Egg while hiding in a cave with Satine. And he doesn't recognize it, and Satine doesn't recognize it, and even Qui-Gon doesn't recognize it.
Which makes it weird, at the very least, and probably rare. It's the size of his HEAD and even though there's no parent around, the egg is… warm, now? He didn't notice at first, but it's definitely producing at least some of its own heat.
So Obi-Wan brings the egg with him, which is a pain in the ass in terms of maneuvering, but they do seem to have better luck avoiding Death Watch than before, which uh. Given that the egg feels warmer when they're getting lucky, and seems to glow in the Force, they think might not be a coincidence. A lucky rock, except it's alive.
Mission ends. Obi-Wan plans to take the egg back to the temple for study in case they just discovered Something, and as he's saying goodbye to Satine… the egg Hatches.
It is a dragon.
The dragon can project words into Obi-Wan's mind. It's not quite capable of complex thoughts yet, but it's a he (probably), and has a name (Anakin!), and considers the person who's been carrying him and protecting him and keeping him warm for the past six months to be his mom!
Obi-Wan protests at this. Qui-Gon decides to make his life harder with the 'correction' that Obi-Wan would be a dad, not a mom.
So now Obi-Wan has a small dragon which will be growing to the size of a house, that imprinted on him and is following him home and calling him dad and insisting on sleeping in his bed
Idk if you've ever read Septimus Heap, but… the MC of that found a Fancy Rock, put it in his bag, carried it around for a YEAR because he kept forgetting to take it out of his bag, and then it hatched into a dragon. And I kept thinking about that the whole time I wrote this.
In Obi-Wan's defense, he does Have A Plan.
Until the dragon hatches, turns out to be a sapient as a toddler (with promise of growth), and calls him Dad.
And now the plan is gone.
He just wanted to bring a cool egg back to the Temple for study!
And now the Mandalorians are pulling out old books about whatever the fuck this is because these things APPARENTLY went extinct around the same time as the underwater dragon-adjacent thing that is the Mythosaur.
Obi-Wan learns that supposedly the eggs are inert until something with the Force interacts with it in a Purposeful Manner.
Which includes "probing it a little to see if whatever is inside is actually alive."
Anakin's a standard western dragon that can breathe fire because Flyte. Also this post.
Weeeee okay small text for the references I mentioned.
Obviously, first up is the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage, specifically Magyk and Flyte.
The fic series I was thinking of initially that kind of jumpstarted the AU process was Boga Service Varactyl AU, but specifically Kenobi Kafé Service Animal Boga AU.
I've been seeing a couple of dragon shapeshifter AUs, including that post I linked earlier from @ahsoka-in-a-hood, @bubblew0lf1's dragon shapeshifter AU, and @squad-724's Dragon Jedi AU has been all over my dash for the past few days.
Stubborn to the Bones by @tideswept, which was part of what had me connecting the various dots of Obi-Wan Finding Animal Anakin on a mission, though our outcomes are admittedly very different lol. (Their fic is shippy, and mine is more decidedly gen/familial with a slight nod to Obitine.)

A Codywan and How to Train Your Dragon crossover that turned into a the Mandalorians factions are dragons AU, because I can never just do something simple and for the heck of it.
If you’re not interested the AU lore, leave now or suffer my rambling lol.
Basically, the idea is that Mandalorians started as a race that could shift into dragons. The Mand’alor line and those of most influence were notably ‘Fury’s (for example Mand’alor Tarre Viszla was a Nightfury and so is his generational line). But over time most Mandolorians who could shift were killed off or just lost the ability as more non-shifter Mandolorians married in. Eventually only a few of the Fury’s were around, and when Mandalore split most chose factions lead by the remaining Fury lines. AKA: the New Mandalorians/Lightfury’s, the Haat Mando'ade or True Mandalorians/Duskfury’s, and the Kyr’tsad or Death Watch/Nightfury’s.
Basically this also helps explain (in my head) why Mandalorians would follow Death Watch (terrorists) or the New Mandalorians (Intense Pacifist). It’s because they see those lines that can still shift as chosen leaders or a physical embodiment of the Ka’ra’s will.
How is Obi-Wan a shifter though? Well in this AU he’s the son of Tor Viszla. Long story short, early on when Obi-Wan was born he displayed being force sensitive, and Obi-WAN’s mom (Tor’s wife??? Idk it’s not important to the story) basically went ‘Aw hell naw’ and tried to drown Obi-Wan. Only to be stopped by a traveling Jedi who stole Obi-Wan and saved him. Totally unaware that this baby was Mandalorian, the son one of the biggest Mandalorian factions, AND also one of the last few existing Mandalorian dragon shifters. (Also Obi-Wan’s mom doesn’t want to admit that she lost Obi-Wan to a Jedi and just tells Tor that he was force sensitive and she succeeded in drowning him).
Maybe I’ll get into it later but basically Obi-Wan grows up as normal in the Temple, but obviously at some point he shifts and has the biggest panic of his life. But with help from friends (Quinlan, Garen, Siri, and Bant) he figures out shifting (enough to control it) and helps keep it a secret (Mandalorians and Jedi still don’t have best relations and Obi-Wan is paranoid about being kicked out of the Order anyways *cough cough Brandomeer cough cough Melinda/Daan*). To be clear, Obi-Wan isn’t like ashamed of what he is. He just doesn’t want the judgments of coming from CLEAR Mandalorian roots, and Death Watch at that. Plus he kinda just decides to not think about how he’s pretty much definitely related to well known terrorist Tar and Pre Viszla, because then he doesn’t have to address it. Besides he’s happy as a Jedi.
Anyways, NOW CODY-
So without getting to detailed (mission failed lol) all the clones ARE shifters (Duskfury’s just like Jango Fett), but they have it suppressed by the Kaminoans (probably part of their chips? I haven’t thought it fully out yet). BUT THINGS HAPPEN, probably Cody and Obi-Wan get stranded alone somewhere for a long time and Cody gets his chipped fucked up somehow, and now he’s shifting into a dragon???? And scaring the shit out of both him and Obi-Wan. But Obi-Wan exposes himself as a dragon shifter as well to comfort Cody and show that he will keep his secret. Plus he clearly understands him. (At this point they both are under the impression the clones aren’t shifters, and think Cody is just an outlier and “late bloomer” so to speak). Cue them learning how to be dragons together and be comfortable in their other form.
And eventually they get rescued and find out somehow all the clones are shifters, and therefore find the chips and discover Palpatine’s plan, SO THE GALAXY IS SAVED!
(Additionally the clones get rights and go to form their own society/group (Obi-Wan comes with to be with other dragons, but mostly to be with Cody), and they form an alliance with the New Mandalorians and accidentally unit Mandalore purely by the three Fury types (Nightfury/Obi-Wan, Duskfury/Cody, Lightfury/Satine) being around each other lol.

Have the two lovebirds, Bly and Aayla
^…^…^…^…^
Republic dragon keeper: now, each Mandalorian commander can pick a dragon for their battalion
Bly pick Aayla
Republic dragon keeper: Sir, that is a Rylotian Dancer, those dragons are for looks and show
Aayla: *decimates anyone between her and Bly*
^…^…^…^…^
I’ve decided on some of the species names with my discord friends:
Anakin is a Dune Rainbringer: this species is known to fly high up in the desert sky just before a rain forms
Obi-Wan is a Maned Blossomwing: comes from Stewjoni (the Japanese based headcanon)
Plo Koon is a Dorin Devastator: they live on an island covered in Yellowstone like lakes, able to withstand very toxic air
Tattoinian Sandstorms are a species based on Tusken Riders, they’re smaller than normal dragons, they hunt in packs, raising clouds of sand to cover their movement during a hunt
And Aayla is a Rylothian Dancers, feathered species of dragons only known for looks and beautiful voice similar to birds

Hi! For the WIP List Game: Dragon Jedi AU?? I am intrigued
Hehe, that one is inspired by @bubblew0lf1's Dragon!Jedi AU! I adore all of their dragon designs, especially Obi-Wan's, and it got me thinking about a sort of fantasy AU where the Jedi are shape-shifting dragons. I'm not sure it's something that'll ever become a finished thing, but it's been fun to think about.
Rambling and a snippet below the cut :P
This AU's setting would condense most of the notable SW planets into continents/countries/cities on one planet; there wouldn't be any space travel, though technology would probably be better than in a medieval fantasy setting. Dragons are rare and I'm thinking the knowledge of their intelligence and that they can also be people is not well-known (either a closely guarded secret or actively suppressed)--and they're also being actively hunted by the Republic/Empire under the justification that dragons are extremely dangerous (this is Palpatine's fault, and he has far more nefarious reasons for hunting them down). I haven't worked out all the worldbuilding details, but I think the Jedi are a subset of dragons who serve as guardians where they can; recently, though, they've been forced to hide due to being hunted.
In this world, Cody and Rex are wardens (possibly heading up a small group of rangers) of a large woody/mountainous area bordering a very rural town far from the center of the Republic; the land was claimed and the town founded by the Mereel-Fett family after unrest in Mandalore forced Jaster Mereel (Jango Fett's adoptive father, Cody and Rex's grandfather) and his clan to leave. Mandalorians have a complicated history with dragons, but Jaster liked to tell stories about Tarre Vizla, a Mandalorian leader long ago who either was close friends with a dragon or was a dragon himself; details passed down through the centuries seem unclear. Jango's never been that interested in the tales, but Rex and especially Cody enjoyed them growing up.
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka moved to the town together pretty recently; I think Obi-Wan runs a bookshop (or maybe a small library? A fusion of the two?), while Anakin works as a mechanic who's teaching Ahsoka the trade as well. Cody likes to read and chats with Obi-Wan when he stops by for books, while Rex brings the rangers' equipment to Anakin and Ahsoka for professional servicing (Rex tinkers a bit himself, but Anakin's a wizard) and they become fast friends. Of course, the friendly neighborhood bookkeeper and mechanics don't tell anyone that they're also dragons, including the Fetts, but Cody and Rex find out the truth eventually.
The only thing I actually started writing for this beyond notes is a scene just after Obi-Wan (in dragon form) fights Grievous (also a dragon but not a Jedi) somewhere deep in the Fetts' protected area. Cody had been doing a sweep/patrol at the time and witnessed at least part of the fight, and he goes to investigate the aftermath.
Warning that it's more gruesome than I usually go, what with blood and a dead dragon. This is just also the most snippable portion of what little I have, I think.
There is a deafening thud, and then— Silence. Cody slowly approaches the edge of the ravine and looks down. A hulking white shape lies still at the base of the rocky slope, red pooling under its gash-ridden body. It’s hard to tell from a distance what precisely killed it, but the lack of motion and abundance of blood suggest that either it’s dead or will be soon. Partially obscured, a smaller brown shape lies behind the great white beast, closer to the river; it seems similarly bloodied and still. Cody feels a pang of sorrow—that one had saved his life, whether intentionally or not. …Better make sure they’re dead, lest any survivors roam too close to town. Cody picks his way carefully down the side of the ravine, shifting between stepping and climbing as needed. When he’s made it to the bottom, he draws his rifle and approaches the white dragon. There is no movement between its sharply defined ribs, and up close Cody can see where the base of its throat has been torn open by—well, horns or claws, most likely. He follows the long neck up to the head, where dull yellow eyes stare sightlessly out from behind a gaping maw. Cody prods its nose lightly with the tip of his rifle. No response. Tempting as it still is to put a bolt in its skull, he’s hunted enough himself to know what death looks like. There’s no need. He steps around the body of the beast toward the visible back of the brown one. One of its wings lies bent at an unnatural angle behind it, and— It’s breathing, quick and labored. Not moving otherwise, but still alive, at least for now.
(Once he works out he's not going to get mauled to death for trying to help, Cody puts his wilderness first-aid skills to use. He still doesn't learn that it's Obi-Wan for a while, though.)

The only thing Gideon in the httyd is missing is the helmet,,,,,, oh the moment grogu sees the schematics and blueprints for it,,,,,,, ough
OHHHH ANON YOUR MIND.....in my head Gideon and Grogu get plenty of opportunities to talk in an even casual way (^ author when the opportunity to make these two fucked up arises) so Grogu probably gets to see them really quickly...maybe Gideon even shows it to him.....

okay i have got to hear about the seagulls stop it now Jedi Fox AU
and maybe also dragon raising?
Since @/ithillia asked about the Jedi Fox au too (I answered here) I'm going to talk about dragon raising for you my dear if you don't mind <3
But first, some more informations about Jedi Fox :
He doesn't get his kyber crystal on Illium. No, it's Fox, he finds his deep inside the Jedi temple, in one miraculously preserved Coruscanti cave. The crystal's color is a sort of rich copper/brown (it ended up being a relief of sorts for the guard because Fox could have had a purple one right ? But it would have been too close in meaning to the red blades of the sith and the dark side for their comfort) (it's also in reference to how Fox is often headcanon to have a lighter eye color than other clones) He was still healing and bound to bed when he went and got his crystal. Vokara Che was, of course, not impressed (everyone else was quite a little bit panicked because Fox just kriffing disappeared when he was still too exhausted and beat up to walk without support for longer than a hallway most of the time)
His master is Mace Windu and Fox and Depa adore being (padawan) siblings now and exchange so much gossip and blackmail material. Fox also learns Vapaad from Mace, but prefer to use Shii Cho usually.
Alright, that's for this au's tidbits.
Dragon raising
It isn't really a fic, it's more a worldbuilding file made of bulletpoints.
It's the clone wars transposed in a fantasy setting basically and started very self indulgented to progress as my worldbuilding project xD
In this au, the Vode are young mandalorians from Concord dawn raised as warriors, trained and raised to tame dragons and fight with them. Dragons are a very dangerous, wild and rare species that can only be found in the mandalorian sector. They were supposed to fight in a war they had nothing to do with but ended up putting an end to it (I'm still thinking about how they did that). Because of all of that upbringing, their link with dragons and a bit because of their armors, the rest of the mandalorians tend to despise them and see them as bad omens at best. Their armors is a problem not specifically because of how flexible it is to be adapted at riding and fighting with a dragon, but mostly because their helmets look featureless. As if they were blind, mute and deaf soldiers. Puppets that follows orders and rides a sithspawn creature.
After the end of the war and gaining their independency, the Vode still tend to keep their faces hidden and only wear their helmets around their own people.
Each battalion specializes in one type of dragons (toxins, ice, fire, electricity, desertic...) and their colors indicate that. Their equipment is also adapted to those specializations.
The Jedi are a nomad sorcerer sect that would have been caught up in the middle of the war. So the Vode stopping it, plus the fact that they're very close to the dragons and their general badass-selves makes them very favorable in the Jedi eyes. Both people are isolated from the rest of the population and knows what it is to have to survive against the rest of the galaxy. They get pretty close (sometimes very close depending on the people in question) and help each other's.
