Manasi Joshi, who was among the three Indian players who won gold at the recently concluded World Para-Badminton Championship, said she earned the medal as she worked really hard for it.

The 30-year-old clinched the top honours in the women’s singles SL3 final defeating World No. 1 and compatriot Parul Parmar 21-12, 21-7 to pick her maiden title in Basel, Switzerland on August 25, the very day on which ace shuttler P.V. The accomplishments of PV Sindhu, V Kohli, Sachin, Kapil n Sunny all pale, in front of what she has accomplished n continues to accomplish, overcoming the most astounding odds that life threw at her.

Graduated n joined work as a software engineer in Dec 2010. A year later, in Dec 2011, gets run over by a truck in Mumbai while travelling to work on her bike. Survives the horrific accident, but loses her left leg😱

After overcoming the initial shock n going through a period of rehabilitation, the strong minded girl doesn’t give up or get depressed. She starts playing badminton n becomes a pro para badminton player over the next couple of years n has dominated the sport ever since!👏🏽👏🏽

She is the reigning Para Badminton World Champion👌🏽 and is currently ranked # 2 in the world! 👏🏽👏🏽
