y...yes, sir! anything you say, sir! || bori's 1k special - part 1
➳ pairings: al haitham, ayato, baizhu, childe, cyno (separate) x subordinate afab!reader ➳ part 2 with diluc, heizou, tighnari, venti, and zhongli coming soon! ➳ cw: not proofread, a bit of power play (duh... they're your boss), oral (m and f!receiving), dry humping (on a shoe lol and mattress), exhibitionism, deep throating, swallowing, face fucking, dumbification, mentions of impregnation (ayato), marking, mentions of tying up hands, overstimulation, unprotected, aphrodisiac (baizhu), kinda dubcon, fingering, you're a cicin mage in childe's blurb, mention of marriage in ayato's, lmk if i've missed any...!
➳ synopsis: what would happen to you as their subordinate...?
al haitham x secretary afab!reader
you’ve met al haitham several times before… the whole mess all the sages have gotten themselves into. it was only natural, being the grand sage’s secretary and all, you would often deliver documents and knowledge capsules between the two of them. you never really thought too much of the man and neither did he think anything of you. sure, he was, well, younger than some of your colleagues, a vision holder, and… undeniably attractive.
maybe that’s why you’ve found yourself in this position. underneath the grand sage’s desk with a mouthful of the acting grand sage’s dick. you cannot believe the amount of control this man has talking to a matra with a straight face and unwavering voice despite being balls deep into your throat. not to mention, he keeps fucking his shoe against your clothed cunt and you’re absolutely sure that both his shoe and your panties are drenched at this point. you moan on his cock, the vibrations seemingly doing something for him as you hear his voice audibly hitch and his hand fly immediately for your hair, tugging at it as if to warn you.
it wasn’t your fault, it really wasn’t. if he would just stop using his shoe on you, order the matra to leave, and finally fuck you on his desk, you both wouldn’t be in this predicament. you’re almost led to believe that maybe he likes the idea of being caught, but then it dawns on you that he just actually likes seeing you anxious. this asshole only likes seeing you in this predicament, because he couldn’t care less about what others think about him. caution to the wind, you guess, and gulp down another whine, swallowing and stretching your throat out to make room for him even deeper as he digs the tip of his stiff sole against your clit.
you’re so close and you can feel that al haitham is too. with the way his dick is twitching in your mouth, you decide to speed up your ministrations and apparently so has al haitham. you tune in a bit, noticing that their conversation is about to end as he hits a certain spot, noticing you falter and begins to abuse it. it’s becoming harder and harder to stay quiet with how his shoe works itself so well against your cunt, your slick aiding in the feeling. you’re about to pull out to cover your mouth when you hear the door click shut as al haitham pushes your head, your nose hitting his abdomen with ropes of his cum sticking to your throat. you’re shaking at the feeling—at the fact that him using you like a fucking sleeve made that coil snap and you spill your essence all over his shoe.
he yanks you up from your knees before the cogs in your brain could generate another thought, forcing your mouth open by pushing down your tongue with his thumb, making sure you’ve swallowed every last drop.
“you’re a competent secretary, by the way. i can see why you were kept around—your services are much needed everyday in my office.”
kamisato ayato x retainer afab!reader
you grew up with the kamisatos, your family serving them as their retainers. your parents served the former heads while you were taught from a young age to serve their heirs. when the former kamisato heads had passed, your parents began to serve ayato, until he had dismissed them—told them they should retire and enjoy themselves—something he had wished his parents had the chance to do as well. and so you inevitably became his personal retainer again. not that you were complaining, no, but it was different from when the two of you were children. things like helping him bathe, get dressed, and aiding him at the crack of dawn—it just wasn’t the same anymore.
especially considering that tending to his nightly duties included him being balls deep inside of you. face down, ass up, your kimono disheveled and almost in tatters, ayato muttering something about how he’ll buy you a new one, one that he’ll personally pick out—to him, it’ll be a sign of ownership. he kept his focus on plowing into you, gripping your hips so hard every night that you’re afraid you might find indents of his fingers one day, your insides already having molded to the shape of his dick.
you’re biting his sheets, trying so hard to not make a noise when he pulls out, maneuvering you over onto your back. he slips a thumb into your mouth as you suckle on it, much to his enjoyment, as he tells you to not muffle yourself. he pushes his length back inside, bottoming out when he caresses his hand over the bulge, admiring the sight and drags his hand back to your hips (where it belongs) and begins thrusting yet once again. you’re full on moaning now, relishing in the way ayato hits every place that makes your eyes roll back with his fingers playing with your clit, making the coil in your stomach tighter and tighter with every thrust.
when your orgasm hits, your hands fly to your face in embarrassment, blocking out any sounds leaving your mouth and covering yourself so ayato doesn’t see what a blushing mess you are. he tsks to himself, one that you can hear, but quickly throws whatever thought he had away, replacing it with the idea that he has all night to rid of those hands that’s hiding your beauty from him. perhaps maybe with your obi, or maybe a bright, red rope? how about both? what other sounds will he be able to hear tonight, what cries will he be able to coax out of you, he wonders, melodies that he can’t wait to hear.
his cock twitches inside of you at his own imagination. he leans down, his body almost flush against yours as he kisses your temple, placing a hand on the top of your head as his thrusts suddenly increase in speed, signaling him close to release. you’re whining at the overwhelming sensation, biting into his shoulder to help muffle your moans when ayato stills, pushing himself as deep as he can reach as he cums inside, his warmth filling you up.
“if this sticks, maybe this will give you a reason to finally marry me.”
baizhu x assistant afab!reader
you’ve been baizhu’s helper since he saved your life a few years ago. he had found you battered up and injured when he was visiting qingce village. it was only after he took you back to bubu pharmacy to take care of you, a complete stranger, were you able to recover. you didn’t know how else to pay him back, nor did you really have anywhere else better to go, so you asked for him to take you in, and he obliged, greatly appreciating the help. he especially appreciates your help in aiding him develop a new medicine.
one that involves his hand in your underwear. he coated the “medicine” on his tips of his fingers before shoving it down your pants, caressing it against your clit, massaging the substance in your insides. he pushes a finger to your entrance slowly, coaxing it in as it begins to make you tingle, your body heating up. you’re starting to get needy, grabbing at baizhu’s wrist when he keeps going agonizingly slow, and to your surprise, he lightly pushes your hand off. he says you have to be patient, that he’s making sure you’re properly absorbing the medicine, that he doesn’t want to hurt you, telling you all of this with a grin, not showing any hint of concern.
he finally pushes in a second finger, making you cum instantly around his fingers to his delight. it’s working beautifully on you, perhaps a little too well when you grab the hem of his jacket as he’s about to pull away, asking for more. he wasn’t actually going to stop, it’s not like he went in this purely for research purposes, but the way your cheeks are flushed, beads of sweat dripping down into the crevices of your shirt, the rise and fall of your chest from him riling you up—it’s enticing. he’ll just have to make a mental note for later and tend to you now, after all, it’d be cruel of him to leave you like this when you’re asking so nicely, right?
he tells to come to the edge of the bed, enough so that your ass is almost hanging off as he peels off your underwear, watching how it clings to your messy cunt, sticky with your cum and slick. he wets his lips in anticipation, wondering how well your essence has soaked up the aphrodisiac as he licks a stripe up your pussy, groaning at the taste. he can already feel it getting to him as well, the residue or whatever was left on you, he figures, is still doing its job. either from the high of knowing how effective his medicine is or the effects really kicking in, he starts to eat you out with fervor, lapping up everything you have to give him, the noise so obscene that they bounce off the walls of his room.
you don’t have the time to feel ashamed by how loud it is, your hands going to tug on his hair as he grunts in response, the vibration of it ripples against you making you moan. he focuses his tongue on your clit, licking and suckling the tiny bud as he shoves two fingers into you, saying something about how you’re still tight even after an orgasm and his drug combined. he’s rutting himself against the mattress of his bed, his clothed cock desperate for any sort of friction as he feels you tightening up around his fingers for a second time tonight.
he curls his fingers, thrusting them in and out as he watches you unravel on his tongue, the sight one to behold. he gently fucks you on his fingers through your orgasm as he cums against his tight pants, slurping up your release as he stands up, unzipping himself to reveal his still hard length.
“there are still more tests to run, i’m afraid, before i can put this medicine on… our shelves, you see.”
childe x cicin mage afab!reader
you, a regular cicin mage, have been assigned to work closely under the 11th harbinger, tartaglia, your immediate response being nothing but a simple “fuck.” you’ve met the harbinger before and you immediately didn’t know how to feel about him. he was so… odd? so… kind? compared to the other harbingers at least, and on the contrary you actually felt the need to be even more wary with him. your first couple months working under him were quite fine. in fact, he was a great boss, he was kind and understanding and after a bit, you’ve completely adapted to being by his side.
that is until he drags you to a harbinger meeting, forcing you to sit next to him as he places a hand on your thigh, dangerously close to your crotch. he’s stroking the soft flesh, his pinky occasionally brushing over your clit, covered by your leotard. you’re lucky that the other harbingers can’t see what’s going on, though, they seemed to not care for your existence and presence at the meeting anyways. you try to brave up, attempting to push his hand away when he doesn’t relent, completely ignoring any signals you’ve been giving him, participating in the meeting as if he’s absolutely unfazed.
he goes from being subtle to shameless rubbing the nub, not hiding his intentions whatsoever, especially when he pushes your leotard to the side, playing with you skin to skin. your hands cover your mouth, not caring about what the other harbingers might think at this point when tartaglia dips a finger inside your entrance, slowly coaxing it in as he watches your expression, choosing to put in a second. the stretch is divine, two of his fingers already proving to be larger and deft, feeling better than whatever you might be able to do to yourself, and you’re confused. how is he touching you so skillfully? as if he’s already familiar with your walls and every crevice, curling the tips of his fingers to hit your favorite spot with every thrust.
you’re unaware of the obscene noises the two of you have been making, painfully unaware of how the jester has already brought this meeting to an end, some of the harbingers completely ignoring you both as they exit, others shaking their heads in disgust. you’re resting your head against your arms on the table, trying your best to hold in your moans despite having no reason to do so at this point while tartaglia gets more bold with his movements, ripping your leotard for better access and movement.
the squelching sounds and your heavy breaths bounce around the walls of the wide hall, ricocheting back towards you, only adding to your nearing release. tartaglia can feel the way you’re tightening around his fingers, fastening his ministrations until you cum. he groans at your pussy convulsing against him, the bulge in his pants growing larger and larger as he fucks you through your orgasm.
“darling, i think you’re gonna have to… work overtime tonight, am i clear?”
cyno x matra afab!reader
you’ve never really been a good subordinate, always skipping out on meetings as you deem them unnecessary, opting out on drinking with your colleagues, never listening to cyno. it’s not like you can help it, honestly. you have your own way of doing things and you still manage to get the job done regardless, so is there really any harm to your methods? technically no, and cyno has yet to really do anything substantial that could threaten your position, so you decide to test his patience.
his patience that apparently isn’t limitless, you’ve figured out. by…well, you know, the way he’s fucking you against the shelves in the house of daena. he’s keeping you captive, trapping your body with his as it takes all of your willpower and concentration to not make any noise—to not attract any attention towards you both. his chest is flush against yours, his cock fully submerged within you as you grip the shelf for some sort of purchase with one hand, the other desperately covering your mouth.
you can feel his breath, hear every groan that escapes his lips right next to your ear, the sensation only turning you on even further as his hand finds its way underneath your shirt, choosing to play with your nipple. he gives a particularly sharp thrust, as if he’s trying to elicit some sort of noise from you, saying something about how he’s been needing a reason to punish you, about he’s been waiting for this “opportunity” for a long time. his words are lost on you, could you not comprehend simple sentences anymore or was he spouting pure nonsense? you’re not sure, your head foggy from how slow he’s going, how he would suddenly snap his hips against yours, how sometimes he’d suckle on the nape of your neck or bite your shoulder, the figure eights on your clit, everything is driving you absolutely insane.
the general mahamatra, someone you figured whose sex drive was nonexistent, is throwing you for a loop today. someone who is more well endowed than you would’ve imagined, someone who’s filling you up oh so perfectly, the head of his dick kissing your cervix in ways that makes stars float right before your eyes.
at this point you’re tempted to place both of his hands on your hips, to urge him to fuck you right then and there in the house of daena, and you do, but all he does is grip your hips tightly, not budging an inch as he smirks against your shoulder.
“this is a punishment, remember? have i fucked you so stupid already that you’ve forgotten?”
➳ an: wow look at all those tags! also i literally have no idea why childe's banner thingy is so fkn blurry compared to the others... akhdkahsd

Yandere!Kunikuzushi (Scaramouche) x fem!reader. Smut. Breeding kink. Aphrodisiac. Creampie. Finger sucking. One mention of killing. Scaramouche peeks through occasionally.
Yandere Kunikuzushi won the poll. I hope this measures up to the first part. Kuni cumming inside for the first time.
As much as Kunikuzushi enjoyed devouring your pussy to his heart's content, he was starting to crave more. There was something so intensely arousing about cumming inside of you. He knew very well that it ran the risk of pregnancy, but your hips just looked so fucking perfect. Perfect for breeding.
He didn't want just that though. Oh no, he wanted so much more. He knew you would agree without hesitation to let him cum inside of you, you were starting to crave him as much as he craved you.
Kunikuzushi wanted you to look him right in his eyes, your eyes glassy with lust and desperation for him and tell him you wanted him to cum inside. He'd read about aphrodisiacs. He deduced that this would be the best method to get you say that without him asking first.
His cock throbbed thinking about folding your body into a mating press, being caged in by him and doing nothing but moan and cry for him while he pumped his cock inside of you, his cum seeping and coating it more with every thrust.
Kunikuzushi put his plan into action once he obtained the aphrodisiac capsule from a small pharmacy. You were distracted with a book when he broke open the capsule in the drink he got for you from the kitchen.
Now all he had to do is sit and wait, anticipating when the symptoms of the aphrodisiac setting in started to show.
He counted every second until he saw you shift restlessly on your bed. It looked like you were having a hard time concentrating. "Is something wrong?" He asked innocently as you closed your book and set it aside.
Your cheeks were flushed, and your breathing was sort of labored. You looked at him and said, "I feel really warm, and my body aches," You said, moving closer to him on the bed.
"Oh? Do you want me to go and get a doctor?" He asked, putting a hand on your forehead.
You shook your head. "No, I don't. Did you know that I have always thought your fingers are beautiful?" You said, glancing longingly at his fingers.
Kunikuzushi smirked. You were already so far gone. There was only one thing on your mind now. And that was him. He could see it in your eyes. "Oh?" He said, brushing his fingers on your lips. "You look like you have something rattling around in that pretty head of yours."
"Mhm," You said, the tip of your tongue flicked out against his fingers, sending a shiver through him. "I want to suck on your fingers, and then," You stroked his wrist, "I want you to cum inside of me."
Kunikuzushi felt such a rush course through him. You were just so fucking addicting. You would never say that to the blacksmith who he overheard telling his friend about wanting to ask you out. And then in the next breath said very vulgar and distasteful things about you.
That man was by now weighed down by rocks and dismembered, serving as fish food. Never to be found. He bled out so fast, but a pound of flesh was the only payment he would accept for insulting your honor in such a disgusting manner.
Kunikuzushi pushed his fingers into your mouth, savoring the happy moan that you muffled on his fingers. He pumped them in and out of your mouth, his fingers exploring as you sucked.
You gagged as he pushed his fingers into your throat. He was fast getting swept up in the dominant power he held over you. He could've made you choke over and over on his fingers and you would've gladly kept sucking once you recovered.
Your tongue lapped and curled, worshipping on his fingers. When he couldn't ignore the throbbing in his cock any longer, he took his fingers out of your mouth. Capturing your lips in a heated, open mouth kiss, his hands hastily removed your clothes.
Kunikuzushi indulged in every fantasy he'd jacked himself off having about you. This would be the first time his cock was ever inside of you. It felt so good to just let go and further corrupt you. He needed to build you up to a certain point by making you cream over and over again on his tongue first.
You felt such comfort under the sheer weight of his dominance as he bit and sucked bruises that would rapidly darken on your skin. Everyone would know you belonged to him. They needed to know. That way they wouldn't dare to fathom taking you away from him.
Your pussy felt so wet on his cock, your body folding so fragile and pliant underneath him as he bent you into the mating press he'd read so much about. He could tell your body struggled to tremble in pleasure as he pinned you down, caging you underneath him.
His hands tightened possessively on your wrists, holding them down on the bed, and using them as leverage to grind his aching cock between the drooling folds of your cunt.
"Say it again," He groaned, teasing the head of his cock against your clit. "Tell me you want me to cum inside again," Your pussy clenched around the tip of his cock, your hips jerking up to urge it against your entrance.
"Yes, Kuni, please! Cum inside of me!" You pleaded, struggling to grind against his cock. Need for him gripped your body, amplified by the aphrodisiac. You mewled, the sensation of his cock teasing against your clit sent made your body ache, and tremble more.
Kunikuzushi wouldn't dream of denying you. Especially not when he had dreamt of this moment so many times. With a husky groan, he pushed his cock inside of you.
"So wet," He moaned, his cheeks flushing from how lewd his cock sounded as your pussy swallowed it. "So tight. Clenching like a perfect slut on my cock," He pulled out just to bottom out again, his cock throbbing as your walls squeezed around it.
Kunikuzushi enjoyed watching you struggle to buck your hips up as his kissed his cock into your sweet spot. He felt your body melting under his with every thrust of his cock, surrendering yourself to him completely.
You looked so cock drunk, drool pooling from the corner of your mouth as you moaned shamelessly. Shamelessly for him. It sent him reeling that you made someone like him capable of feeling such filthy human emotions.
The closer he got to cumming, the more he started to whimper with raw need. It sounded so disorienting to him that he had to kiss you, forcing his tongue into your mouth to muffle them.
The way your fingers intertwined with his, squeezing like you were clinging to him was pure bliss to him. The mewl of pleasure when he emptied his cock inside of you, unable to stop thrusting down into you was utterly addicting.
He wondered if you could even hear yourself babbling about you were his and only his fucked so dumb on his cock.

Let me share you some examples of people outside of a spiritual realm using the law of consciousness. Reading about placebo opened my eyes to realize whether I believe it or not, use it or not, it is always operating.
1. During wartime, particularly in World War II, when medical supplies were limited, the use of a saline solution as a placebo became prevalent. One notable figure associated with this practice is Henry Beecher, a medic during the war. When morphine, a powerful painkiller, was scarce, Beecher resorted to injecting injured soldiers with a saline solution (a mixture of salt and water) as a substitute. The fascinating observation was that many soldiers responded positively to the saline placebo, reporting a reduction in pain. Beecher’s experience led him to further investigate what is now known as the placebo effect. He discovered that even inert substances like saline could elicit a therapeutic response in individuals, highlighting the power of belief and the mind’s influence on healing. Using saline as a placebo during wartime was a practical solution to address the scarcity of medical resources. It allowed healthcare providers to provide some form of treatment while conserving limited supplies for critical cases. The phenomenon observed in these wartime placebo administrations contributed to our understanding of the placebo effect and its role in medical practices.
2. And then there was another placebo test done with surgeries demonstrated the power of the placebo effect in the context of surgical interventions for knee pain.
The study, often referred to as the “fake leg surgery” study, focused on patients with osteoarthritis in the knee. Participants were randomly assigned to either receive real arthroscopic surgery or undergo a sham procedure where no actual surgical intervention took place. The sham surgery involved making small incisions and mimicking the actions and sounds associated with the actual procedure. The surprising finding was that both groups, those who underwent real surgery and those who had the sham surgery, reported similar improvements in their knee pain and functionality. This suggested that the positive outcomes experienced by the participants were not necessarily due to the physical intervention but rather to psychological factors such as the placebo effect.
3. The most fascinating one was this one: The study aimed to explore the role of mindset in reversing some aspects of aging.
In this experiment, Langer and her team created a simulated environment reminiscent of the 1950s to immerse a group of elderly participants. The participants were instructed to act as though they were 20 years younger and encouraged to engage in activities that required physical and mental activity. It aimed to create an atmosphere where the participants felt as if they were stepping back in time. The results of the experiment were described as astonishing. Participants reportedly experienced improvements in various areas, including physical health, cognition, and overall well-being. The study suggested that by changing one’s mindset and engaging in an environment that challenges typical aging stereotypes, individuals may experience positive effects on various aspects of their lives.
4. The Man Who Overdosed on Placebo" is a story about a 26-year-old man, often referred to as "Mr. A," who was part of a clinical trial for an antidepressant drug. In a desperate state of mind, he attempted suicide by ingesting 29 capsules of what he believed to be the experimental drug. This act was triggered by his depression, which had worsened after a breakup with his girlfriend.
However, unbeknownst to him, the pills he had taken were not the actual antidepressant, but rather placebos - essentially inert substances, often sugar pills, used in clinical trials as a control group. Despite this, Mr. A's vitals showed alarming signs similar to those of a drug overdose, reflecting the power of belief over the physical body, a phenomenon known as the "nocebo effect."
The nocebo effect is essentially the evil twin of the placebo effect. While the placebo effect can lead to improvements in health due to positive expectations, the nocebo effect can cause negative symptoms or even exacerbate existing ones due to negative expectations. In this case, Mr. A exhibited symptoms of an overdose solely because he believed he had taken an overdose.
5. Sam Londe, is one of the best but sad classic example of the nocebo effect, as detailed in Dr. Joe Dispenza's book "You Are the Placebo."
Sam Londe was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, a condition known for its grim prognosis. His doctors informed him that he didn't have much time left to live. Accepting this diagnosis, Londe quickly became bedridden and his health deteriorated rapidly, following the trajectory his doctors had predicted. However, upon his death, an autopsy revealed a surprising fact: there was not enough cancer in his body to have caused his death. The small tumor in his esophagus was not large enough or in a position to interfere with his swallowing or breathing. Essentially, Londe didn't die from cancer; he died from believing he was dying of cancer.
This case demonstrates the power of the mind over the body, both positively (the placebo effect) and negatively (the nocebo effect). In this case, Londe's negative beliefs about his prognosis led to physical symptoms and ultimately his death.
I've seen dozens of examples where of stuff like this particularly in the realms of hexing and witchcraft. Honestly, the same could probably be said about subliminals. But it doesn't matter much. Why? Because they work. It's all about observation and choice. You could say it’s the mind but the mind operates on logic. This goes beyond the mind and to your true being, what observes the mind observing the pain in the first place.
Actually I was talking to someone who had been struggling with shifting for a while about this and it really resonated with her which is why I decided to share it. She took a water bottle, labeled it shifting juice and just assumed that when she finishes the bottle she has “full access to shifting powers” is that how it works. Nope. Did she shift after two years of struggling. Yep. It doesn’t matter what story you create yourself whether you want to use logic or not whatever you assume and persist in and know as a fact will harden into truth and therefore reality.I just wanted to share this story bc I find it absolutely hilarious how we sometimes take it so seriously yet it can be so easy. I know placebo is just an assumption. It’s like when you tell children you checked under their bed for the monsters and drafted them and they assume so so they can sleep soundly at night. Call it whatever you want assumption, placebo, it’s all just words and each community calls it something different but at the end of the day it works wether you know the truth behind it or not.

INTO THE NEW WORLD — Soldier Boy/Ben
Summary: Hidden from the public knowledge, you were in charge of Soldier Boy's sleep, taking care of him for more than a year, until Homelander finds out he is still alive.
Pairing: Soldier Boy/Ben x female reader (one sided love, can also be read as gen reader)
Word count: 700ish.
Warnings: spoilers of S4 finale, mentions of experimenting being unconscious, mentions of non con touching, Homelander!, power imbalance, reader is obsessed with Soldier Boy in an unhealthy way (like all of us).
Note: I had to take this out of my head.
GEN MASTERLIST!
taglist is here!
“No, please, no!” you pleaded and cried out as two agents dragged you all over the underground aisles. Their grips on your arms tight as they took you, passing through endless ways of doors and labs.
You knew where this was heading. You knew he was there, that it was all part of his twisted and fucked up plan. And you were fucking scared. You were just a simple, plain and boring human being. A scientist, unlucky for you, assigned to watch over the strongest supe ever once they could take him in.
You finally made it to the room where Soldier Boy was being held, and the men tossed you to the ground. Barely, you could use your hands to support yourself, the concrete floor bruised your knees and your palms. Steps were heard and, still looking down to the ground in shame, those red familiar shoes appeared into your vision field. You shuddered instantly.
“Thank you, leave us alone,” he ordered and then the doors closed.
A pathetic sob choked down your throat, and you shut your eyes even though you were not seeing his face. You didn’t want to now, not ever.
Homelander let out an unamused, somber laugh that echoed the chamber.
“So, you were taking care of the old man,” he began.
You swallowed dryly. “Yes, sir.”
“C’mon, look at me,” Homelander ordered. Slowly, you lifted up your face, covered in dry tears as you obligued yourself to mantain your eyes open.
“I’m not gonna kill you,” he continued, but the sly smirk on his lips told you his threat was real.
There was a silence that fell upon you both, and you were waiting for Homelander to rip off your head right there.
The memories of Soldier Boy arriving to the lab and the first moment you were assigned to take the lead on mantain him on a sleep played in your head. As a teenager, you were once fond of superheroes, Soldier Boy and Payback to be more specific. You knew every detail, dirty or not, true or false about him, and believed blindly on his innocence, that he didn’t deserve to be tossed away like trash. He was much more than everything Vought made people believe he was.
You fantasized about him ever since he used to wake up for a few minutes when it was time to recharge the capsule. He had seen you countess of times through the glass, and all you could do was give him a reassuring but painful smile. You loved him. You loved the idea of him that you had created in your head, and the world deserved to know he was right. But it was either freeing him and losing your career or having him for yourself, studying his organism and experimenting with him while getting paid for it, sometimes even doing touching subtly parts of him you wouldn’t. Clearly, you had a choice to make.
“Can you wake him up?” Homelander’s question took you out of your trance.
“W-what?”
“Wake him the fuck up!”
He roared, you flinched and jumped slightly. Frozen in place, he fisted your hair, pulling you up on your feet, forcing you against the glass. You used your hands to steady yourself on the capsule, taking in the view of the pleasant features of Soldier Boy. You felt Homelander pressing against your back and you gasped.
“Free him! Now!”
“Okay, okay,” you sobbed, looking for the buttons on the side, pressing them quickly and the capsule slowly opened, letting out the gas in no more than a minute.
You watched in awe as Ben took a long, deep breath before his eyes opened slowly to get used to the light around. You only hoped the first thing he ever saw was you, but Homelander was there too.
Those deep green orbs shifted between you and that bastard of his son.
“Look, isn’t it better like this?” Homelander cooed, his hand now moving to your waist, gripping you a little too tight against him.
“It is, sir,” you mumbled, gaze still on Soldier Boy.
He slowly stirred and sat down on the coldness of the capsule, looking around, eyes mixed with confusion at your pretty, ruined face, and the anger of an unfinished battle with the man in front of him. Homelander greeted him with a wide grin.
“Welcome back, father.”

until it doesn't hurt
pairing: Bruce Banner/Reader
reader’s pronouns: they/them
the reader's race and gender are ambiguous; no physical descriptors are used.
summary: “I could’ve caused you irreversible harm,” Bruce says. It’s almost a practiced recitation at this point, and you have to wonder if he truly believes that—or if he’s just been conditioned by everyone around him to believe he is only capable of inflicting pain. “You didn’t,” you maintain, for what feels like the thousandth time. Bruce is so caught up in the hypotheticals that he refuses to see the success right in front of him: the fact that he didn’t so much as lay a finger on you.
word count: 2.9k | ao3 version
warnings: canon-typical violence
Being an Avenger means you have to be ready for anything at all times. That spontaneity is difficult to adjust to at first, but as time passes, you grow used to it. You grow used to sleeping lightly; to stashing weapons just about anywhere you can keep them; to having few restful days and many restless ones. The moment your powers manifested, you knew you would be a hero: not because you wanted to be one, but because it would be your responsibility to protect those who needed protecting.
You weren’t always an Avenger. At first, you were just a rogue—kind of a vigilante. But then the attack on New York happened—Loki happened—and everything flew out the window. Suddenly, you were out on the street in broad daylight, trying your best to keep the civilians safe. That was how you crashed into Iron Man of all people. You exchanged banter and insults, but when it came down to it, you protected him, and he protected you. And Tony is extremely persistent—it didn’t take long for him to sink his claws into you and drag you back to the Avengers Tower.
From there, you gradually get to know the other Avengers. Steve and Clint are relatively friendly right off the bat. Natasha is a bit more difficult—you have to earn her trust before she starts to open up to you. But eventually, somehow, you manage to bond with all of the other occupants of the Tower. At least, all of them except Bruce Banner.
Bruce is an interesting case. He almost immediately dismissed you when Tony first introduced you, instead deigning to focus on his experiments. You hadn’t taken offense to Bruce’s reclusive behavior, nor had you taken the hint that he didn’t want to get to know you. Instead, you had all but forced him to acknowledge you. This manifested in a multitude of ways: from going out of your way to talk to him to offering to help with his research. Bruce is extremely protective of his laboratory, but somehow he deemed you capable enough to serve as his laboratory assistant. You were more than content to hand him capsules and adjust minor things, while he did the brunt of the work. You took the gifted opportunities to attempt to get to know him better. At first, it was like speaking to a brick wall. But somewhere along the way, his cold and uncaring façade began to crack. You slowly worked your way up to meaningless small talk—and, later, casual conversation.
Truthfully, you really enjoy spending time with Bruce. But he’s rather unpredictable—sometimes he’ll push you away, and other times he’ll play along. You know that he has a lot of baggage—what with his childhood and his alter-ego. You’ve been trying to convince him that you care about him—that you’re not going to abandon him or villainize him—but he doesn’t ever seem to believe you. He always conducts himself with some semblance of suspicion and doubt; it almost seems like he’s waiting for you to wake up to reality and run away screaming.
Still, progress is progress—no matter how slow. You’re happy with how you’ve slowly bonded with him, and you can only hope that there’s more on the horizon for the both of you.
…You never consider the possibility that something could happen to make things worse—to destroy your progress and send you right back to the start.
“We need you for something.”
You’re brutally torn from your reverie, forced to slowly come back to yourself. You’re sitting in the living room, staring ahead at the blank wall. How long have you been sitting here? All you know is that it’s no longer light outside, and that Natasha is standing in front of you with a firm expression.
“I- what?” You stammer, still processing what’s happening. “Nat-”
“It’s important,” she says. You get to your feet before she can continue speaking. “Trust me.” You do trust her. Natasha isn’t one for over-exaggeration or dramatics; when she says something is important, she means it. And the grave expression on her face is only worrying you more. You follow after her as she walks down the hall and towards the elevators. The two of you step into the space and she presses a button, before the elevator slowly rises.
In hindsight, perhaps you should’ve been a bit more suspicious. Why would she be taking you to another floor in the Tower? Typically, when there’s a new development or an imminent threat, you’ll be directed to another location—either to combat the threat or to strategize. Furthermore, there’s a strained silence in the air between Natasha and you. Nat’s shoulders are drawn tight and she’s staring ahead pointedly, as if avoiding your eyes.
The elevator dings and you breathe an internal sigh of relief, hoping to get rid of this needless tension. But before you can begin to take a step, you’re being roughly shoved out of the elevator and into the hallway. It takes you several moments to get your bearings—at which point you recognize the telltale sounds of the doors behind you closing, and the elevator dropping back down to where you came. You stare at the closed doors in disbelief, before turning to look back down the hall. One of the recreational rooms is straight ahead, and you hear yelling.
Once you’re standing in the doorway, you’re able to place the inexplicable noises you were hearing. Bruce is in his Hulk form, green and raging as he throws anything within his grasp at the walls around him. You’re willing to bet Natasha brought you here to do something about this. Why she thinks you’re the best person to calm Bruce down, you’re not sure.
“Bruce,” you say slowly. Bruce promptly freezes, an exercise machine lifted over his head. He stares down at you; you stare up at him. He’s momentarily distracted by you. “It’s okay.” He’s silent. You hold your hands out at your sides in mock surrender. “I’m not here to hurt you,” you continue. “You’re safe.”
Silence. You take a slow breath. The machine he’s holding over his head drops a fraction of an inch.
“It’s okay, Bruce.” You repeat, pushing as much conviction into your voice as you can. Your effort seems to work, as his eyebrows furrow. For a moment, there’s nothing but silence as the two of you stare at each other. Then, his visage shifts and you’re suddenly looking at Bruce Banner—disheveled and exhausted.
“Are you alright-?” You’re compelled to ask. The scientist is back in human form, wearing nothing but a tattered pair of pants; bruises and scratches litter his skin; and there’s a distant expression on his face. He seems to snap out of his trance when he hears your voice.
“What the hell are you doing?” Bruce then spits. You immediately flinch at the unexpected anger. “Seriously, what the fuck are you doing here?” His gaze is flitting about the room quickly, before settling on you with fevered intensity. You’ve never seen Bruce look so irate before. He’s a remarkably composed man (although you suspect he bottles up anger and rage and lets it out in bursts as the Hulk). Indeed, this kind of fury is typical for the Hulk, but exceedingly rare for Bruce.
“I didn’t-” You choke out helplessly, glancing back at the hall and, by extension, the elevator. “They-” It’s inexplicably difficult for you to get the words out.
“That was our doing.” A voice confesses from behind you. You turn around to find Nat and Tony standing behind you. The two of them approach and come to a stop at your side.
Bruce’s gaze locks on them with fiery focus. He brings a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. His glasses are nowhere to be seen—he must’ve dropped them somewhere as he transformed. “I expected better from both of you.”
“Bruce-” Tony tries to say, an apologetic expression on his face.
“What on earth made you think that throwing them out as bait was a good idea?” Bruce interjects furiously, motioning towards you. “You could’ve gotten them seriously injured!” He exclaims. Tony has the good grace to look embarrassed; Nat is staring ahead with a flat expression and her arms crossed over her chest.
“Bruce, I’m fine-” You try to say, quickly growing uncomfortable with the tension settling in the air.
“I could’ve harmed you,” Bruce is quick to assert. “Easily.” His voice is cold.
“But you didn’t,” you maintain. He’s not giving himself enough credit. More troubling is the idea that he has faith in his own cruelty—that he only sees himself as capable of harming someone. You don’t know what else to say, don’t know what could possibly be said to repair the evident years of damage done to this man’s psyche. The entire world has treated him as a weapon at best and an uncontrollable, irredeemable monster at worst.
“That doesn’t matter,” Bruce says with unshakeable certainty. He retreats from the room, leaving you to stare after him in confusion and shock. You turn to face Natasha and Tony, who are both staring at the doorway with complex looks.
You want to tell them off, but the words that leave your lips are far different than you intend them to be. “Should I go after him?” You ask instead. Bruce is the primary concern right now—you can chew Tony and Nat out later. You’ve known him for a bit now, and have grown to interpret his expressions fairly easily. You’ve seen Bruce express a lot of emotions… but the look on his face just now is completely foreign to you.
“Probably,” Tony admits.
“I don’t think we should,” Natasha says, motioning towards Tony and herself. “He’s mad at us. And… rightfully so.” She exchanges a glance with Tony, whose lips are pressed in a thin line. It’s clear they didn’t give enough thought to their whole plan.
“You’ll be fine, though,” Tony says with unfounded conviction. Nat places a hand on your shoulder and grips it reassuringly. You take a deep breath and come to a decision, walking down the hall and towards the elevator doors.
Moments later, you’re walking out of the lift and down the dim hallway leading to Bruce’s bedroom. He’s entirely alone on this floor of the tower. You pause in front of his door for a few seconds, wondering if you should walk away. But you can’t. Instead, you knock on the door four times. “Bruce?” You ask. Despite the clear sturdiness of the door, he’s able to hear you.
“Go away.” Bruce responds. His voice is a little muffled, and you have to strain to hear him.
You’re hurt for the briefest of moments. Then you shelve the feeling and resolve yourself to tackling it later. “I’m coming in,” you announce, placing your hand against the scanner at the edge of the doorway. The scanner flashes green and the door slides open, revealing Bruce’s bedroom. You’ve never been here before. It’s modestly decorated, with mostly monotone shades. Nothing particularly strikes you, save for the giant desk in the corner of the room. Papers litter the entire surface of the desk, and a few are covered by Bruce’s arms.
The man doesn’t look up as you approach. “I don’t want to see you,” Bruce says. His back is turned and you’re unable to see his expression.
“I don’t care,” you respond, taking a few steps into the space until you’re a short (yet seemingly insurmountable) distance from Bruce. He’s sitting at his desk, rubbing his hands over his eyes roughly. It doesn’t take long for you to remember your guilt. “Bruce, I don’t want you to torture yourself over this.” Maybe you shouldn’t have interfered in the first place.
“I could’ve caused you irreversible harm,” Bruce says.
“No, I don’t think you understand,” Bruce says with a shake of his head. He pushes himself out of his chair and gets to his feet, turning around to face you. Your eyes widen as you notice the torn expression on his face, the dark circles under his eyes, and the determination written in every line of his form. “My eyes locked onto you and, for a split second, I envisioned harming you. Deliberately.” The confession clings to the air like a vice.
“But you didn’t act on that impulse,” you assert. “You suppressed it.”
“So?” Bruce argues. “I still had the urge. You should be disgusted, afraid-”
“I’m not afraid of you, Bruce,” you interrupt. The statement lingers heavily in the air between the two of you. For a long moment, there’s nothing but the faint hum you’ve grown to associate with the Tower itself.
“You should be,” Bruce then mutters. And suddenly he’s standing in front of you, staring at you with a dark gaze. His fists are clenched at his sides and you see his skin flicker with shades of green, before it returns to normal. The man maneuvers you to the side and shoves you, until you’re hitting the wall behind you. Bruce’s hands move up to your shirt collar and he clenches at it, his fingers almost spasming as he tightens his grip. You just stare at him. “I could ruin you.” He murmurs, so quietly that you have to strain to hear it.
You want to argue with him so badly, but that strategy hasn’t been working so far. For some reason, Bruce has convinced himself that he not only has the capacity to hurt you, but that he wants to. You know that can’t be true, but how can you convince him? If he thinks he can ruin you… “Then do it,” you challenge him. He meets your eyes once more and you stare back unflinchingly, trying to convey how much you trust him.
If you thought the tension was suffocating before, it’s practically ripping the breath from your lungs now. Everything around you seems to fade into obscurity. All you can see is Bruce; all you can feel is Bruce. His fingers twitch and his grip falls from your collar. For an awful moment, you think he’s going to walk away—turn his back on you as he has done so many times before. But he doesn’t. Instead, he leans closer. If he’s trying to get you to back down, then it isn’t working.
At first, you want to think that Bruce is testing you. But the way he’s regarding you right now—with glittering desire in his eyes—makes you think otherwise. His hands move from the wall to your shoulders, back to the nape of your neck, until he gently tugs you forward. It’s hardly a strong pull, and you understand the choice he’s giving you.
But, you think fondly, there was never much of a choice. From the moment you locked eyes with him, you knew he would dominate your thoughts. And indeed, he has. You think about the hard-won look of approval in his eyes when you make an astute observation; the way he almost frantically looks across the battlefield, his posture instantly relaxing once he sees you; the contradictions written all over his skin; the rare smiles you feel privileged to see.
You lean forward and press your lips to his. Bruce is quick to reciprocate, his hands lingering at the nape of your neck before slipping down to your waist. You lock your arms around his shoulders, practically trapping him in your embrace. But from the strength of his grip, you can ascertain that the gesture is more than welcome.
Later, when you break apart, Bruce has a disbelieving expression on his face. He looks slightly dazed, as if suspicious of the reality he now finds himself in. You grasp his wrist gently.
“You can’t get rid of me, Bruce,” You murmur insistently, “...no matter how hard you try.”
He stares at you for another long moment. “And I have tried,” Bruce admits through a dry huff. You want to be offended by the comment, but you know it’s true. Bruce is stupidly self-sacrificing—he purposefully keeps his distance from people to protect them. But the reality of the situation is that people will come to harm regardless of his presence. “But you’re too stubborn.” That statement is spoken with a significant amount of fondness, and his hand comes up to cradle your cheek. You bring your hand up to rest on top of his.
“I’ll always be here, even when you don’t want me to be.” You promise. And maybe that promise isn’t yours to make, because one can never truly predict what will come next. But somehow, deep down, you know it to be true.
Bruce brings you close once more, an uncharacteristic note of boldness in the fluid movement. When you step back moments later, you find that he has a hint of a smile on his face. “I know,” Bruce says, the traces of apprehension on his face breaking and cracking to reveal a rare sight: unrestrained affection.

Could I Have The McOrgasm, Please? (Loki x fem! Reader Oneshot)
Summary: You love Loki, but he loves another. You must join Loki on his trip to get Sylvie back by going to the McDonald's she's working at. No matter how much it hurts you on the inside...
Warnings: SMUT AT THE END! NSFW! (Oral, fem receiving, inappropriate uses of Loki's shadow powers, dirty talk, p in v sex). Angst and unrequited (or is it?) love with eventual fluff. Being Anti-Slyki and Anti-Sylvie so if you like the character or pairing you have been warned. This is my indulgent coping method for not getting with a fictional character. Also, as this is published, I don't know what the eff is going to happen in season 2. I just want this out so I can escape to delulu land when canon disappoints me.

“Yes, she will be there,” Loki confirmed, looking at the restaurant.
You put your hands in your pockets. You were with Loki, Mobius, and a gentleman in a TVA jumpsuit at the McDonalds where Sylvie apparently worked. Just a hop, skip, and jump away. How much you took for granted-just traveling anywhere in space and time. Only, for this place and time was the one place you didn’t want to be. You wished you were anywhere else. A natural disaster, the poorest section of a medieval village, a gladiator tournament, a tuberculosis outbreak in London in the 1870’s-not this.
You didn’t want to watch as the man you loved went to pursue someone else. It was a peaceful place- just a McDonald's in the middle of a regular strip. The sun was gentle. Big clouds drifted in the sky. The birds were singing. You wanted to scream.
You didn’t just like Loki as a friend. You loved Loki- him and only him. Loved him for a long time. Through the misadventures of life in the TVA, you helped him for long hours scouring over files. You ate lunch together. When the little capsules of pies arrived in the cafeteria for the lunch hour’s dessert options, you would pull out one for him and hand it with a smile. And when he cried over seeing what events were supposed to happen, you ran to embrace him.
Then one day he ran into the mysterious Loki variant- as it turned out her name was Sylvie. Just two days later he went missing with her. Then they reappeared. And then they vanished again. Then he reappeared and people were running in a panic.
She left him. Kissed him, killed Kang, and then left him in the dust. But it didn’t occur to Loki that this was a betrayal he should be angry about. You remembered that day. He kept talking about her- until there was one phrase that hit you in the stomach.
“Please Y/N- I love her. Help me…help me find her and fix this!”
You would have preferred to be stabbed.
When he did say he loved her, you simply said “Oh, okay. I will.”
You returned back to your room later that day. Forgetting the chaos and Mobius’s mysterious loss of memory. You sank onto the floor and cried. Cried so hard you couldn’t breathe. Cried so hard and curled up into a ball. Cried so hard you hardly slept for want of crying more.
Even after what she did, he was still talking of her. No. All he could talk of was Sylvie this and Slyvie that. Even with you. Why were you even doing this?
“Uh…I don’t think I should be here…I think I should go back…” you murmured, taking a step back.
“You’re scared…of her? Y/N! You shouldn’t be! She’s incredible, you’ll love her! And you must- you’re the one who remembers what happened!” he insisted.
“What happened?” Mobius asked. The man in the jumpsuit only blinked.
“Y/N…please-I’m nervous…I need the support…” Loki begged at you. His mouth curled into a little frown and his eyes so big they shone like big stars. You held in a breath. Those eyes. Damn, those eyes- like that of a kitten. You wanted to hug him and cuddle him- but you couldn’t.
“Okay…” you voiced.
It was odd-not only being rejected, but being rejected for himself! How the hell would you explain that to a therapist?! The more you thought about it, the more it made you sick. The Spidermans in New York apparently weren’t kissing each other, you heard. You shoved your arms to cross them and continued on. Perhaps if you walked quickly, you could get it over with. Holding your breath, you folded your arms and walked quickly in. Thinking of it like a vaccine- just a little pinch of pain for a brief bit, and then it would be over with.
You stopped inside that bright, yellow building with its bright lights. There was a woman at the counter.
“Is that…” you asked.
Loki’s pale face turned a shade paler. “Yes.”
There you saw her. Not a glance- seeing her. Truly saw her up close. There were only glimpses when she ran around in the TVA. Here, her blonde hair was cut short beneath her cap and her eyes squinted in tired boredom. She smoothed her uniform.
You noticed Loki see her. Frozen in his tracks, his mouth open.
“What are you waiting for?” you pressed.
They kept looking at each other. With a shrug, she moved her eyes forward where a customer showed up to order a McFlurry. Loki blinked and turned to you.
“Does she recognize me?” he asked.
“Go ahead and find out. .” you replied.
“I…I feel like I can’t take another step…” Loki said, his chest falling in shallow breaths.
Mobius waltzed up in front of you guys along with the variant man.
“Well- I myself am starving hungry! Y/N-I bet you are too! Let’s order!” he churruped.
You followed them as Loki stayed a the door. Frozen in place. Mobius gestured to the counter.
“Ladies first!” he chimed.
You stared at her as she finished the last order before you. Drinking in that now your invisible rival had a face. That “Sylvie” wasn’t a wisp of air, a pedestal you could never reach. But flesh and blood. That this was the woman Loki preferred. This was the woman who was Loki. Pale skin and short blonde hair. It seemed damp under her cap. Slender with a long, straight nose and pink lips. Sharp eyes like that of a falcon. Slight grace and ease with how she moved. And you knew from the hundreds of times how Loki boasted of how stupid Sylvie won some stupid fight with a stupid enemy in a stupidly easy manner.
So many words were in there. You knew what she did. How miserable she really made him. After everything he did for her. And no matter if she felt the same or not, her actions did not account for it. What she did to him. The pure misery and despair on your beloved Loki’s face when she left him. The suffering she put him through even if he wasn’t aware of it.
And envy. Yes, you were sick with envy. You hated yourself. You hated yourself because you weren’t her. And yet you hated her too. Only hate was swirling in her stomach. Your mouth stopped, for want of the thousands of things you could have said. The thousands of things you fantasized about saying, or doing. You took in a shaky breath, maybe to start one of them. To finally let it out. To scream at her. Yell in her face. They were there- words forming at you like grey clouds forming a thunderstorm.
She beat you to it.
“Hello, welcome to McDonalds,” she said with a practiced smile.
She did not recognize you. She only gave you a nod and replied dutifully, like she repeated it 1,000 times every day.
“What would you like?” she asked, continuing on like she was an actor saying her lines.
To rip out all of your hair and scalp you until you’re screaming and bloody. You thought bitterly. But you did not say that.
“Could I have the-uh, Quarter pounder and small fries and a fountain drink, please?” you requested.
She nodded with a small smile and tapped into the cash register.
“My pleasure, coming up…” she said.
When you paid, she handed you the receipt. Then all you had to do was wait until the giant screen announced your order was ready. You felt dizzy as Mobius and the new guy ordered their food.
Simple as that. Your motivation failed you. She didn’t know you. If you said or did anything, she would flee and get her manager. You would be known as “that” customer who made food service worker’s lives miserable. A story to be gasped or laughed about. And never showing you sympathetically. Or knowing the stories Loki would boast about her-whip out her own daggers and slice you into ribbons.
You took a step back. Unable to peel her eyes off of her. Imagine her as he would describe- not in a uniform but in tight leather showing a perfect and beautiful slim body. A fighter who could defeat anyone in combat without blinking an eye and who could bring down the whole TVA.
Could you do that? No- you weren’t some fierce, flawless, warrior goddess. No- you were afraid. Vulnerable. That was your curse-she was extraordinary. You were just ordinary.
You began to mentally list your personal insecurities. How could you even compare to her? No wonder Loki worshipped the ground she walked on after she used him as a punching bag. The screen announced your food and another worker handed you a tray with the burger, fries, and cup. That was a clear sign from the universe itself- might as well drown yourself in comfort food.
You noticed Loki finally moved from his place. You couldn’t even watch- not even to get your drink. You grabbed your tray of food and fled to a far corner near the bathrooms. Where you couldn’t hear them, couldn’t see them. You wanted to huddle and hide and make yourself invisible.
Then you heard footsteps- rapidly walking around. You looked up to see who it was. It wasn’t Mobius. It wasn’t even the variant in the tracksuit- You could recognize that peachy ass in those brown office khakis anywhere.
He turned his black curls everywhere as he turned his head to search. Loki went up to you, and then his shoulders relaxed. He even bent a little to meet eyes where you were sitting.
“Y/N, all the way here?” he asked.
You were such a sucker for that face, especially how soft, how sweet he could look. How could you say no to his presence now?
“Uh…yeah,” was all you could say.
As he took a step forward to where you sat, he leaned down, his hands still in his jacket pockets.
“Where were you- I got worried. Maybe someone had attacked you, or took you,” he fretted.
“I’m fine,” you lied as you took a bite of the burger. “Just wanted to sit here-more private.”
He then pulled up to the chair and sat across from you.
“How’s the wedding planning?” you wanted to ask bitterly. You did not. You looked down at your food, then up at him. He sat so casually, so easily. He folded one leg over another and set an arm down. You pulled out your bag of fries. It was so piping hot it hurt a little- but that was how you liked it.
“I’m nervous too, Y/N. I have to tell you…I cried this morning…I know I have to face her. I’ve taken over cities, I’ve battled monsters, but this…this is different…” Loki confessed.
You chewed on a fry instead of replying. Tasting the crispy hot potato flavor. He let out a deep exhale, putting a hand lightly over his mouth.
“What’s wrong with me, Y/N?” he asked.
You wiped the salt onto your pants. The words flowed out of you easily. Too easily.
“Nothing is wrong with you, Loki! You’re the nicest, sweetest, bravest, sexiest being in the whole-”
“What was that last one?” he asked, tilting his head, his blue eyes squinting.
You immediately froze, the fry you were about to eat hung in mid-air. You felt hot with embarrassment.
“You’re the nicest, smartest being in the whole universe!” you said.
Before he could say anything else, you began digging further into those hot fries. “Mmph, These are so good. And just right-right when they’re out of the fryer.” You chatted on, desperate to change the subject after your little Freudian slip.
“Can I…try one?” he asked.
He held out his hand and you pressed a few fries into it. He chewed on them and then smiled as he tasted them.
“Not bad! Midgard food isn’t as pitiful as I thought!” he replied.
Mobius returned with his tray along with his companion. They ate and Mobius commented on how the Sweet and Sour sauce was his favorite. Loki looked at him, his smile dropping. Then he turned to you, his voice low. Mobius kept on chatting about everything to the variant.
“He still doesn’t remember…It seems all who care about me just…either die or leave or hurt me…” he mourned.
“I don’t…and think of Thor. Yes, you two fight. But he loves you. And remember your own mother! They care about you. They always will…and so will I…” you assured him.
Your hand moved up to touch his, then froze and retreated. Then he turned to you.
“Y/N?”
“Mhhm?” you asked, a mouth full of food.
“...You have salt on your chin…” he commented.
He reached out his hand to cup it. Your breath stopped at his touch- so gentle, so soft. His large thumb grazed over your chin slowly. Your mouth opened a little, feeling his light brush as his thumb swiped the bits of salt away. How small it seemed under his large hands. But he wasn’t hurting you in the slightest- it felt like a caress. A light kiss. Once his thumb went back to his hand, his eyes went to yours. Seeing his blueness, his large, dark pupils. As if something unspoken was exchanged between you. You saw him swallow hard.
Taking in a deep breath after that, you retreated, putting your hands on your lap and looking down. The heaviness of sudden arousal from his touch had shocked your system. You reached for your drink to cool off but realized it was empty. You had eaten all of your meal. There wasn’t food you could use to hide now. You forced yourself to take deep breaths- in, two three four, out two three four.
“There that’s…that’s better,” Loki said.
“Thank you- it won’t be easy, but….one day, you won’t be sad about what happened. You won’t feel nervous or scared…you’ll get over it Loki, bit by bit,” you encouraged softly.
He leaned forward in his chair, his hands folding on the table.
“Ah, tell me, my dear Y/N- Have you ever had your heart broken?”
The burger in your throat dried up. You took your napkin and bunched it into a ball in your hand.
“Yes,” you answered plainly. Fighting back the urge to laugh.
“I never did! Never! None of that drama! I’ve never been more relieved!” Mobius sang out as he chewed on a nugget. His companion only kept tearing at his burger.
“Is it terrible?” Loki asked. His brows knotted in curiosity.
“Very. Still is,” you replied.
“How did you cope with it? You little mortals-going about your own lives and your own heartbreaks?” he asked generally.
You shoved aside the tray and folded your arms. Then you began to speak.
“Realizing that love shouldn’t be a prison.”
“A prison?” Loki repeated. He leaned forward. Staring right at you. Truly listening to you. You continued, though you felt your body tense up. Knowing what you said was honest- too honest.
“I was…not with him in any way. He wasn’t my boyfriend or lover or hookup or whatever. This guy- I thought… he should be with whoever makes him happy….”
Even with someone who betrayed him, manipulated his feelings, and left him crying.
“Love means letting go. It’s the right thing to do- it’s still hard though,” you finished.
Loki registered nothing beneath the surface of that. He merely shrugged and raised his eyebrows. He looked at you, giving you a small smile.
“I’m glad you’re alright and happy now, Y/N. I remembered the time you were about to fall off the TVA balcony right over those statues last month…”
“And you caught me-you saved my life!”
“To think…me…a hero for once…” he commented.
“That’s a Loki for you! A pure miracle for your kind!” Mobius commented.
He took a long sip of his Sprite.
“Wow! Now this is a drink!” he exclaimed, inside the cup for the bubbly carbonation.
“Well, Mobius, this isn’t fiction. No one is all good or all bad. And Loki, no one entirely bad does that…everyone’s a mix of good and bad,” you added on.
“What’s your bad parts, Y/N? Any weaknesses” Loki asked curiously.
“I…get jealous…” you confessed.
The god’s jaw lowered to the ground. His voice dared to raise a little bit from his surprise.
“Jealous!? But…you’re…you’re so kind! I’m the jealous one!” he said.
You continued on. The words poured out of you more quickly than you could register or control them.
“It doesn’t mean I never feel jealous. Or am tempted to do things like take her face and smash it over the McDonad’s register.”
“What?!?!”
You stopped. A hand flew over your mouth to cover it. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, what the fuck was I thinking?!?! you cursed silently. Another slip. And this time, he heard it clearly. No hiding around it.
“Whose face are you talking about?” Loki asked further.
“I…Forget that…I didn’t say anything! Good luck with your meet-cute and reunion and all that. Have fun- bye!” you dismissed quickly.
You grabbed your tray.
“Y/N…wait…” he said.
“Where is she going?” Mobius asked, tilting his head. He then remembered he had more sweet and sour sauce with his McNuggets and began dipping into them with a childish glee.
He reached out and grabbed your arm. You pulled against him and he held you back.
“What’s going on!?” the god asked.
“Don’t touch me- save it for her!” you hissed out. Yanking away from him- not even looking at his face.
You looked right at the door and walked hurriedly. Momentum, panic, pulling you out of there. You kept your eyes on the exit as you dumped your trash into the bin. You walked to the outside of the McDonalds. It was sunny with the sun’s orange glow and a little chilly. You got the tempad from your pocket to return. But then you heard Loki jog behind you. You kept walking down the pavement. Glad that there weren’t moving cars right now. If not, you wished a moving one would hit him and send him flying. But it didn’t.
“Y/N, stop!” he insisted.
You stopped walking. But you turned around. You didn’t look at him- only at the rows of cars and empty parking spots in the strip. But you heard him behind you.
“I’ve stopped. Now what?” you asked. At least you could hide behind sass and snark. It made the pain better.
“Whose face were you talking about?” he asked.
“I’ve got to go, Loki,” you urged.
“Y/N, wait!” he cried.
You felt him grab you. He turned you around, his arms gripping you into place. His eyes were intense and his jaw lowered. He still looked so handsome- like a dream. His intensity, the feel of his bare hands on you making it more intense, making him more attractive. You were forced to face him. Your eyes were brimming with more tears. He almost shook you as he held you- so strong. His skin, his scent. Like he wouldn’t let go of that for the world. If only you could experience that for yourself.
“Y/N….are you…jealous of Sylvie?” he asked.
“Yes. I’m sorry I said something about hurting her. I know it was wrong to-but yes. I’m jealous of her. Have been for a while. Isn’t it obvious?” you asked.
“Why?!”
You burst into tears. Your jaw tightened.
“I need to go, Loki…just let go, please,” you begged.
As you moved he held his grip on you.
“No! You’re not going anywhere until you tell me why!” he demanded.
You thought confessions like this should be done in moonlit gardens or sexy hotel suites or something. Not the parking lot of a fucking Mcdonald's. But here you were.
“Why? Because I love you, Loki. More than as my friend-much more.”
“You…love me?” he asked. His eyes were wide. His jaw dropped and then it closed back, his pink lips barely parted.
Your words sputtered out. His grip relaxed on your arms. You had no choice but to look him in the eye and talk.
“ I’ve always loved you…I’ve loved you every afternoon, on weekdays, on coffee breaks. I’ve admired and taken note of every one of your feats. I stayed by when you were sitting at the TVA crying when she opened the multiverse and left you. But…the thing with love…is that it means letting go…”
How handsome he looked. His jacket-how warm would it feel? Would it smell like him? And the shirt that hugged his body. You glanced down and felt twinges of lust mixed with your sadness. With a man as delectable as he, you couldn’t help it. How broad yet lean and strong he was. How his bare skin would feel against your bare skin. How many times have you fantasized nightly about having him in your bed? But there was only one being in these universes and timelines who would know. And it wasn’t you.
“What…Y/N…really…all this time…” Loki murmured.
. You felt anger in your throat and venom in your voice.
“If you think the best relationship you need is with a woman who is literally you with a vagina who you knew for three days and then left you in the dust for her own gain, then take it! Because…beacuase…”
You began to step away. Ready for him to be angry at your words about her. His eyebrows lowered and there was no anger- only his parted lips of shock. You began Crying again. You thought you saw him tear up too.
“Because that’s what you want, what you choose…and I have to let you go…”
You turned on your heels and promptly left. Wiping your tears on your sleeve. Using the tempad, you returned to your home. You ran inside, fell on your bed, and sobbed.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
When Monday began, you were ready to work. You got in your nicer dress and cardigan for the day. The TVA office could get chilly. Right when you walked in, there was Loki. In his own work wear. You froze. What on earth were you going to say? What could you say?
“I was worried about you. How are you, Y/N? Feeling better?” he asked, putting his hands back in his pockets.
“You know…yes….yes I am…” you nodded.
He gave you a kind smile. You waited for him to bring up what happened, what you said. He did not.
“How did…McDonalds go?” you asked.
“For your information, it went alright,” he informed you.
You felt a giant lump in your throat. You pulled your cardigan further over you-looking down on the floor as you spoke.
“The reunion- did she-”
“She just wanted to focus on her job,” Loki answered before you could finish your statement. He went up closer to you. “I hope your day at work goes well, my dear…if any supervisor gives you trouble, they’ll answer to me…wait- there’s a hair on your shirt,” he said.
He gently brushed it away on your shoulder.
“There you go- you look…you look nice today. The colors suit you,” he said.
“Oh, thank you.”
It was a normal, boring day. And the next day was a normal boring day- that was comforting.
When you went into the cafeteria, you decided to buy lunch. After all, it was going to be the best meal they offered at the TVA- grilled ham and cheese with tomato soup-nice and warm. You counted your coins from your pocket to make up the total. It was cheap-but still eating at it every day could take a toll if you weren’t careful.
As you walked up with your change, the cafeteria lady shook her head in her hair net.
“Oh no- it’s on the house!” she said.
She gave you a smile as she brought a tray ready. Your own surprised face gleaming from the glass over the food.
“Really?!” you gasped incredulously.
“Yes-your lunches are free from now on!” announced the cafeteria lady.
“Oh…thank you!” you cried.
Smiling, she handed you a grilled ham and cheese and poured tomato soup into a bowl before handing it to you. They tasted especially warm and decadent.
Loki appeared here and there. But he would ask after you. Talk to you. He never mentioned the warrior goddess version of himself to you. Not anymore, at least. But he didn’t bring up what he said.
As you got to your office desk on the fifth day, he was standing there- waiting for you. Your coworkers were watching with one eye from where they sat and worked. Some even stood up to see.
“Hello, Y/N!” he greeted.
He walked forward and you gasped aloud when he turned. In his white hands was a glass vase full of fresh, beautiful flowers- your favorite kind. Bright and beautiful with a fragrance that sweetened the area that used to be full of the smell of crisp paper and old coffee.
“I…I thought you might like this,” he offered, handing you the vase.
“I…I, uh…uh-thank you,” you said.
Why was he suddenly being nice? It then hit you- he still valued your friendship. Even if he didn’t feel the same, he didn’t want to let you go yet. Probably making peace. But you were in public, this wasn’t the time or place to discuss matters of the heart openly. But…that was better than a full friendship breakup. Of never seeing that mischievous, handsome god ever again.
You smelled the flowers and set them on your desk. He leaned against it, something glinting in his eyes. Something that made you feel fluttery and distracted you from the start of the day.
“How’s the…Kang mission going?” you asked.
“Oh, it’s alright. If not well. A few bumps here and there- but things will probably be fine. You have nothing to fear…but what about you? How is work?” he asked.
“It’s been downright slow the past few days. Then today it’s picked up, but…nothing I can’t handle.” you reported.
He leaned a little closer, the old trickster light beaming in his eyes.
“Anyone being difficult? He asked.
You couldn’t help but smile.
“Some were in the past, but…but no.”
“Then…I hope you have a good day, Y/N. I will talk to you later. Don’t let them work you too hard, darling,” he said.
He gave you a wink that sent butterflies into your stomach and then walked away.
How nice he was. Taking it so well. You always knew there was a little good in him. Even if all that was for someone who didn’t deserve him…
After work, you splurged on cheesecake and a bottle of wine. You were going to need it.
After you got back home, you brought in your goods. You listened to sad music and cried to flush more of it out of your system. Grieving Sylvie and Loki being a couple. Imagining them kissing and doing more than kissing by now a hundred times. You took a hot shower to cleanse every picture of it from yourself. You changed into your pajama shirt and shorts. You sat on your chair in your room, ready to eat a generous helping of cheesecake and a generous glass of wine.
You were going to go somewhere far from the TVA. You had to. Get a new job somewhere. Meet as many men as possible. Try other forms of dating. Or not just dating– just meet anyone. Forget him. Forget Loki. Forget his dark curls and blue eyes and sinful waist in those tight shirts and mischievous smile. Move on from him, move on from being rejected. Even if he was nice to you and wanted to still be friends. You were going to forget it all. Sacred timeline be damned. Your happiness and peace of mind was shattered.
Then it hit you…it was odd that out of nowhere you had free lunches at work. Why was that?
An answer hit you.
Could it…could it be…it was… No. It was bribery. Yes! All bribery because he needed help with some villain who lived in a mansion with purple robes and a flair for the dramatics. All being beside his perfect, flawless girlfriend. Having their love rubbed in your face. You wanted to spit.
Right as you were about to take your first bite of cheesecake, There was a loud knock.
“Y/N…please let me in…I have to talk with you,” a voice you knew too well asked from the door.
You gripped the seat of your chair.
“Loki?! Is that you?” you asked from where you sat.
“Who else, darling?”
“Just use your magic and break into my place!” you replied.
“I’d rather enter with your permission…” he said.
Not caring that you were in your sleepwear, you opened the door. Still in his jacket and TVA office wear, he stepped inside. Your hands curled into fists. He was beautiful as ever-jacket and cheekbones and all. You could have screamed at him. You could have punched him. You could have slammed the door in his face.
But…you didn’t. You couldn’t. You crossed your arms and took a step back, but you looked at him.
“Loki…what are you doing here? What else can I say to you? Thanks for your gifts. I know you need help with Kang but…I can’t…I can’t do it…and you have someone waiting for you. Go to her. Go to who you love.”
“But….I am with who I love…” he replied.
A stone dropped into your stomach. Your whole body tightened. Your breath stopped and your throat ran dry.
He stepped inside. Then he cupped your face with both hands.
“Y/N…I’ve been so blind…” he confessed.
Before another word was said, he kissed you on the lips. Deeply, sweetly. You smelled him- smelled popcorn and musk. Yet he tasted of cream on your lips, of froth. Like a dessert after dinner and twice as sweet. He held you so that your lips could stay together. Then he released, still holding your face.
“Loki…what is this? What’s going on? Is this another…another of your tricks, then…” you asked, your voice only half of its strength.
He kept you close. Looking right at you. His voice was so dulcet, so earnest.
“It’s not. Y/N…I never realized how much you cared for me. How much you really did…and to think…I thought I was alone. But I wasn’t. No one saw me…but you…and to think…all this time I was chasing after someone. A shadow. A dream. An illusion better than any I could conjure. An idea of her. Not realizing…that love, that sweetness I have wanted my whole life…was right in front of me…” he said softly.
“You finally came to your senses!” you cried.
Both of you let out a small laugh at that.
“But…she’s with you to fight Kang- and you’re back together?” you asked.
“She doesn’t remember me. And she… wanted nothing to do with me. It struck me what she did…how she treated me. And then I thought of how you treated me…I kept thinking of you, thinking of you. I missed you. I looked for you. I…I didn’t want to cross paths with her…I realized…there was someone always there for me…yes-you…Oh, Y/N, I’ve been a fool,” he breathed.
He held you and kissed you again and you almost gasped into it. Feeling him. You grabbed onto his jacket. Held him close-felt how close he was. His eyelashes. His tall cheekbones graze against your face. It made you shiver. He let go of the kiss, pressing his forehead onto yours.. Both of you closed your eyes and could hear his breathing fluttering.
“Y/N, my dear…can you forgive me?” he asked.
“I can. Can you forgive me?” you asked.
“I already have.”
He let go. He still kept his eyes on you as he reached his hand to the door and pushed it close. The momentum made it shut. His long finger made a swipe-out of it came a bit of green seidr. And you heard a click! The door locked in place.
“I wanted someone who loved me…who would take care of me…and it was you the whole time….it was you, Y/N…I…I don’t…” he muttered.
He paused. Then he put his hands on his hips and looked down. He licked his lips and his eyes scattered, a blush on his cheeks.
“I don’t…even know what to say now…how to put it…uh, Y/N…I…I, uh-”
“I love you too, Loki…and…I’m glad you’re okay now,” you breathed.
You were on him to kiss him again. He pulled you close. He moved a little tongue in. Your breath hitched from feeling him there. His hands on your back-keeping you pressed against him. Never wanting to let go.
“Y/N…don’t let this end here. Let me stay…let me stay for tonight…” he whispered.
“You can stay,” you said with a nod.
You felt his fingers dig into your skin. To leave his fingerprints on you.
He then moved on to kiss your neck. It tickled you a little. But he found a sensitive spot- a spot rarely kissed. He pressed his lips to it as he held you close. Then he used a bit of teeth. It elicited a groan from you. You felt him tense up as it escaped your lips. He sucked the area.
“Here…now you’ll never doubt that you are mine…and I am yours…”
He made another bite, another mark. Arousal squirmed inside you, releasing out to your panties with his touch, his lips on your skin. He kissed you again and you melted into it. The friction between you was building up. He squared his hips to meet your own and you stifled a gasp. His hands wander down your body-exploring each curve and shape, hidden only by the thin cotton of your sleepwear. Feeling you like a discovery of forgotten land. Finding each nook and curve of your shape inside your clothes. But you did not move an inch away-but kept him there. You ran a hand up to feel his back-always so warm. Masculine even.
“Loki…darling…” you moaned out as he kissed each bit of the sensitive skin between your neck and shoulder. His hands wrapped to be around your back.
He kissed you again. You reached your hand to rake through his dark curls- they had been washed and were so fresh and clean and soft-softer than the petals of the flowers on your desk.
You could feel something getting hard from his office pants. It brushed against the crotch of your own clothes and made you quench beneath.
“Y/N…my pet…I want…I want to have you…to have you now…will you let me?” he asked.
“Yes…yes, I do…I want you…” you agreed.
“Then… let's make up for lost time…” he growled.
He kept kissing you as he put his hands around your waist, grabbing you and taking you right to your bedroom. His hands moving back up to cup your face, to keep kissing you so close. He released and looked down at your clothes. He then touched your collar, seeing where it dipped, and showed a bit of your chest. He smiled as his hands went down, feeling the material.
“If I knew this had any chance of happening, I would’ve worn something else…” you confessed.
“Does that really matter when the best part will always be beneath it?” he asked.
With a flash of seidr from his fingers, the pajamas vanished and you were naked before him. You gasped at the cold. You fought the urge to cover yourself. It wasn’t that this was your first- but to show your body before Loki was a different matter. You have never wanted someone so bad, and you never felt more…vulnerable. Your arms flinched to cover your breasts then he caught you.
“Ah-ah, Don’t hide your beauty from me, not anymore…” he said with a playful tone.
He moved your arms aside to see you. He cupped one breast in his large, beautiful hand- thumb grazing the nipple, making you shiver.
“Yes…that is the best part…” he said.
He kissed you again, his hand wandering down- feeling your bare back. Even grazing your bottom, then going up to your hips, your curves. He was feeling you- treasuring each inch of you. He kissed you again as you connected your hips to his. Electricity shooting through you. You let out a shuddering groan. He gave you another smile- it was so lustful, so devilisih, so him.
“There’s something else I can do, my Y/N…would you like to try it?” he boasted quietly.
“Yes…show me what it is…”
“I can hold you back…tie you without any silk, any rope, any chains, any restraint…” he whispered.
“How?” you pressed.
There was a light flashing in his eyes-so light, so different. From the dim lights of your room out came shadows like his- with his horned helmets on them. The shadows lurched over and you almost gasped. Then they went down to the floor.
“They can touch you- do you want to know what they feel like?” he asked.
“Yes…”
The shadows reached out their arms, traveling up. They felt like mist when they grazed your skin. But then one pulled up your first arm high- and it was strong. You couldn’t break out of it, no matter how you tugged. Then the other lifted your other arm up high. The light was still in Loki’s eyes, the shadows lifted you up before him. A prize free for his taking. He grinned as they wandered on how your position made your breasts dangle before him.
“Now…where were we…ah, yes…” he said.
The shadows were strong but gentle as they moved you over. You were floating-then they laid you on the bed. Your arms were lifted to remain high over your head as your back went over the duvet. Your arms were held over your head, laying over the pillow.
“I…I like this power…”
He smirked, his hands still in his pockets.
“As do I…and I am bout to like them even more…”
More shadows appeared- they flicked across your legs.
“What pleasure is hidden between here- they can help show me, perhaps…”
They curled to your ankles and then gently opened your legs before him.-showing your dripping pussy before the god. He played cool. Only his quick breaths and the bulge in his pants hinted at his craving, his desire. Your breasts out and your legs opened- nothing hidden. Now the shadows had you out and open-something for him to devour, something out to be fucked.
He walked forward. He brought out a long finger. He touched your folds gently, sliding them down. You let out a gasp.
“L-Loki…” you breathed out. It was so sinful, so filthy you couldn’t help but love it.
“Why…this is quite the picture. If I could only paint it…but I only want this masterpiece for myself, and no one else.” he rasped.
He walked over to the bed. Then he crawled so he was between your legs. The shadows keeping your legs open. His hand grazed over your inner thigh.
“Here…you’ve been a good little angel Taking care of me. Shhhh-shhh- you don’t need to object, to think of my pleasure for now. You’ve worked so hard…now relax…let your god take care of you this time, darling.”
You were gasping and whimpering. He began to taste you- his tongue inside. He groaned as his tongue went further into your folds. His cold breath against your private wetness made public for him. Your arms flinched but the shadows held you tight. He flicked his tongue and you let out a small groan.
“L-L-Loki…yes…I-oh, oh god-yes…” you sputtered out.
His shadows lifted your hips so he could taste further. His tongue delved. It found your clit and you shuddered from it. He gave a few licks. He went up closer to where your clitoris was swollen and waiting for him. Then he stopped.
“Now this…this tastes better than any of those Midgardian meal down there…This one is sweeter, with much more juices…and this one I can devour at no cost at all…”
You were whimpering-letting him lick your clit. Letting his tongue go through- each bit of you. Explore you. Your own cries filled you up. But the shadows kept you wide open.
“L-Loki…that…that feels so-so good…”
With a small gasp, you felt pleasure spiral in you. He licked a bit further-and soon it broke on you. Like the wings of a bird when it catches the wind and lifts up. The pleasure burst and you let out a gasp from your petit mort.
Your heart was racing, and your blood coursing through you. Loki was smiling- his lips wet with your juices. And still fully clothed.
“I hope they don’t replace me-I’ve yet to get my hands on you again, my pet.”
He crawled on top of you. He kissed you so his tongue got into yours-another hole for him to claim. You could taste your own earthy scent and thick juices. Still restrained, he held you, grinding lightly onto you. Your hips lifted a little to meet his- no shadows needed. But you felt their cool touch curling around you. Touching all over you- he wanted to touch you, feel you, know you, devour you in every way.
“Please…I want more…I want you…I want you inside of me, Loki…” you begged.
He smirked, a curl coming loose on his face.
“Oh…my tongue was only to prepare you, my dear…I hope you are ready…”
“Yes…yes-please..I want you to fuck me, fuck me until I forget everything else…forget Kang, the TVA, timelines, all of it! I don’t care if it’s by your shadow’s cock or yours- I need you! All of you!”
“You need only ask, my dove,” he purred.
The green seidr flashed with a tilt of his head, then down it went. It melted his clothes off. He became naked. You underestimated how fit his body was. You forgot your words at this sight of his nakedness. How strong, muscled, and broad he was despite his leanness. His masculine hairs across his chest-his large, strong biceps. Abdominals and a very happy trail leading to his erect largeness. The shadows curled their grip around you. They pulled your legs to open wider.
“I hope you’re ready for the love of a god,” he murmured.
He embraced you, kissing you as he began to sink in. Bit by slow bit. He got himself in, groaning. You let out a cry when all of him was inside. He was so big, you had to adjust. Your arms flinched again but they remained held back. His arms reached around you-keeping you close. He then held you- his own hands digging into your hips and thrusting into you.
“Oh-oh, god!” you whimpered
“That’s- that’s what I like to- to hear-shall you try it again? Yes- yes-urgh- so-so tight, my love-yes-” he growled.
He began to slowly thrust into you. He groaned into it- slow, but steady. Intruding your insides. He rolled with you, a gentle rolling of his body. Kissing you deeply. Then he kept at it. Your voice escaped you. His cock disappeared and reemerged. But he looked at your face, in your eyes as he fucked you into your bed.
With a flick of his head, the shadows moved your legs so that your knees bent and you were angled deeper.
“Fuck! Oh-oh dear-Loki I-I-I can’t-shit-can’t believe this-this is-fuck- happening--happening right now-it’s-it’s-its-fuck!- too good to be true-” you breathed.
“Oh, it’s-it’s true darling…”
He thrust carefully, slowly. Then he picked up. His voice was like that of a hiss, right into your ear.
“And you’re-” Thrust. “-Mine.” Thrust.
He kept kissing you as he thrust, thrust, thrust. His shadows testing you, splaying you a little more open. Hearing each other's groans. Moaning your name, repeating it like a prayer of his own. A prayer only a god could give. His own grunts were deep and guttural. He found the right pace. Painting with each thrust, thrust, thrust.
“Yes…yes, you’re-you’re mine and-yes-I will…I will be yours-we are at each other’s mercy…now…yes-”
His pace increased. His shadows holding you back bed hitting itself against the wall. Then the shadows moved so your legs flew right up by him. It was so wild, so fast. Then his long finger curled to your entrance. Finding the clit. Rubbing so hard- so much. Slam, slam, slam, slam. You gasped- it was the right, perfect place. You were going up, up in your pleasure. His finger tested your clit faster, harder with his thrusts. You felt his voice, his groans rising in pitch. And that bubbling, spinning feeling was going inside you, your toes clenching as your legs were up in the air.
“Oh…oh gods…Loki…I’m going to cum again-I-I am…”
He held you close- this time his own flesh-his thrusts wilder, desperate. He was breathless, with every gasp, every taking in of pleasure, he urged you. His voice husky and to the point of breaking.
“Yes-yes-go-there-I…I can’t—cum, darling, cum with me-your heat, your wetness-it’s going to-going to overwhelm me-I…I can’t I-yes-yes-cry out-cry out my name, darling…I-I-I-”
His thrusts were so wild, pounding you right into the bed. Nailing you there, completely taking you over. That sweet spot- thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust, thrust-when it hit like lightning that you let out what started as his name, and then you hit it, it became a shout.
“L-Ah!”
It reverberated throughout your home. Whoever was next door or nearby would definitely hear it. With a strangled cry of his own, he arrived as well.
His shadows retreated. He still wrapped his arms around you, nuzzling into you. His arms wrapping around you. He felt so warm- you could smell his sweat, feel how he had to catch his breath. Your heart was still reeling after that bout of pleasure. He hugged you close.
“Holy shit…” you breathed out.
He let out a small smile and you both laughed.
“To think I could’ve been enjoying…that all this time, my dear…” he said, he kissed you on the forehead. “And now…I hope you don’t mind that again….”
“Can it be every day?” you asked.
“Of course!” he laughed.
He sighed as you settled into each other.
“What are we going to tell Mobius…the TVA?” you wondered.
“We’ll think of something…” he said.
You sat up, wrapping the blanket around you. With a bit of magic, he conjured a large shirt over you-soft and comfortable.
“I was going to get some wine and Cheesecake- would you like any?” you asked.
“Both Sounds lovely to me…but Y/N…I am genuinely sorry, I really am.” he said, his eyes wide and sweet.
“And I genuinely forgive you…emotions make people do things-”
He grinned.
“Such as this,”
He pulled you to his lap. You hugged and kissed his cheek. Yes, you would figure out life as a couple in the TVA together. Life with some new villain back and on the rise. But for now…you had to just enjoy each other. This new, blossoming, new love. Yes- how good that word felt rumbling in your mind. It echoed as he joined you to get plates and glasses.
You both smiled as you had your first sips and ate your first bites. He thanked you with a kiss- tasting sweeter than any food, dessert or dinner- could ever taste to you.

cw: selfship-coded. luffy being himself ig :/. reader works at a hospital. sfw. part 2 here.
Tonight is one of those nights where you can’t be arsed to cook for yourself and the idea of coming home to multiple day-old leftovers irks you, even if you really should be saving money if you have hopes to ever travel one day.
The weight of mental exhaustion that’s set deep into your bones makes you feel a little heavier than usual, and you readjust your book bag strap across your shoulder a little. When you remember that there’s rumors of pirates frequenting the waters recently, you purse your lips to the side, deciding that it’s probably better if you’re not physically carrying anything, regardless of how nice your bag matches your outfit, and let it shrink into a capsule with the use of your right arm, then press the small capsule into the slot in your star-marked forehead. If anyone’s watching you use your devil fruit power, they’re not making a comment about it - it’s Friday in the early evening and the throngs of people trying to start their weekend off with a bang make it very easy to slip through the crowds unnoticed.
One of your favorite restaurants is down the street and you’ve ordered takeout. The homeless man that usually greets you - as well as every other patron that frequents this facility, to the owner’s dismay - is not here today, you notice. J, as he asks you to call him, has lost a noticeable amount of weight recently, but the last time he showed up to your hospital’s emergency department, he was chased out before your supervisor could send you to go examine him, so you hope that doesn’t bode poorly.
You’ve ordered two of the same meal, even if you don’t have the time to sit and eat with him, apologizing for your colleague’s unfortunately necessary but still cruel lack of kindness.
“We added a few extra biscuits today, __! Hope you enjoy them!” one of the workers chirps as she hands you your meals. You thank her profusely, shifting the extra food into the individually wrapped parcel you’ll leave behind, even if you’re hesitant, knowing that any leftovers you have will probably decay in your fridge.
J’s nowhere to be found, and you wait for a few minutes, leaning against the wall, unable not to help yourself to a few of the biscuits in your own bag. People give you odd looks as they walk past, seeing your arms overburdened with food and eating right outside an establishment but you’re too preoccupied to care.
J doesn’t show for another ten minutes, and you decide to leave the food behind with a note scratched in the corner of the bag, something about not eating it if it’s opened and making sure he comes back to the hospital during a shift when one of your friends is manning the emergency department and not the jackass department head, and walk off.
It takes you only about six steps away, until you hear someone call in your direction.
“Are you going to eat that?”
You blink, before turning, and there’s a young man, probably in his early 20s but these days you can’t be too sure, crouched right next to the meal that you’ve just set down. He’s pointing at you, and also at it, and once you stop being confused, you can feel an uptick in your blood pressure.
“No-”
“Great!”
He’s already reached for it and you find yourself screaming.
“Don’t touch that, do you not see there’s a note attached to it? It’s for somebody!” you hiss. For a moment, it almost looks like he doesn’t understand what language you’re speaking, the look on his face blank enough to piss you off, and you march back, practically snatching it out of his hand.
Turning the bag over, you show him where you’ve scribbled.
“Unless your name is J, or you’re taking it to J, don’t fucking touch it!”
The young man bends over at the waist a bit too theatrically to read the admittedly small text, then looks at you.
“Your handwriting is more round than I expected.”
Your mouth opens and closes because you’re confused as to when he would have had time to even make such a judgment given you’ve just met a few seconds ago, but you disregard it and snatch the bag away, reassuming your previous position against the wall. Something inside you makes you think the man, who you notice now is dressed weirdly inappropriately summer-y for the current fall weather (especially the large straw hat attached to his person), would probably just take it when you had your back turned anyway.
The two of you stand for a moment, as you keep looking around, and then it occurs to you.
“And why are you still standing here?” you hiss. At least be discreet if you plan on stealing, weirdo? you think to yourself.
He shrugs, then also leans against the wall, which has you take a large step to the right to create safe distance. He looks at you and you can see him smile, but he doesn’t move closer.
“I just wanted to see what kind of person you’d buy food for for free, because it doesn’t seem like you know each other that well from what you wrote.”
You blink.
“So you read it, and still asked me that question,” you state.
He shrugs. “I wanted to.”
Tilting your head slightly, you size him up again. Inappropriate clothing for the weather, a vaguely airheaded expression - you wonder if he’s also homeless, perhaps newly so, or strange, or some combination of both. He appears healthy (perhaps a little too healthy from the very blatant view of his chest and arms, you think for a moment but dispel the idea from your mind) and doesn’t seem to be particularly anxious or upset, so you don’t have any more clues either way.
“If I buy you food too, will you leave?” you ask, suddenly.
His dark eyes seem to practically sparkle, a childish wonder in it that also is somewhere between off-putting and fascinating.
“Would you? I forgot to bring money and I’m starving, and if I ask Nami again, she’ll probably get mad, and Zoro and Usopp never have anything on them, they’re just as bad as me so-”
You raise a hand gently to stop him, and he does stop talking, but he grins widely.
“I’m Luffy, nice to meet you,” he holds out his hand for a greeting, and you hesitate for a moment, before shaking his hand back, still feeling in some manner that you’re being scammed in a very convoluted fashion.
Ordering another meal is a short order of business, and when the hostess asks if you want it for here or to go, you and Luffy both speak different things at the opposite time.
“To go!” you state while he says, “For here!”
The hostess pauses and you look at him.
“For here, I guess,” you repeat.
You didn’t expect for him to be surprised when you paid and turned to leave.
“You sure you don’t want to talk? You seem nice and I have a few questions about this place.”
You can feel your face warming out of embarrassment as the hostess looks between the two of you, but you offer him a forced smile.
“I… have somewhere to be,” you say out loud.
He nods, but his smile to you, persistent and steady, remains genuine and without disappointment.
“Maybe we’ll see each other again. Thanks!”
"You’re welcome?” You can’t hide the unsure uptick in your tone, nodding slowly but politely before you turn tail and leave, dropping J’s food back to the place where you initially expected it to be.
He’s still not there, and you try not to worry.
As you walk home, it occurs to you that there’s a nagging feeling in the back of your mind, but it’s not that you’ll never see J again - in fact, you are sure he’s probably just busy or might even have some good news - but that there’s a possibility you might see the weird man in the straw hat again.

I love you all immensely. Take care. 💖
Nick may have had a rude awakening, but you feel you’ve had one of your own. You can’t help but note the subtle changes. Your boss is a stickler, a man of order. For the few years you’ve worked for him, it’s always been a sober, professional interaction. You pick up after his dinner parties and the like but he never lets you see the details of his leisure time.
It’s nothing to do with you, you’re sure. You imagine there’s something going on; with work or otherwise. In a way, his little display reminds you of Joey. When she was a teen, she had her moments, acting out as she tried to figure out how to deal with all the new challenges of living. Still, Nick is much older than your daughter and even she’s outgrown that sort of behaviour.
You serve him his coffee, no whiskey. He takes it along with the two Advil capsules you hold out in an open palm. He’s still naked, the blanket bunched high up his muscular thighs.
“I see you had a rather exciting night, sir, I suppose I should start making my rounds,” you say as you turn to clear the used glasses from the table; some empty, others sticky, and more with liquor left in the bottom.
“Eh,” he grumbles and gulps noisily, “what about the whiskey?”
“Well, sir, I really don’t think it’s necessary,” you say as you gather up the glasses.
“Alright, mom,” he scoffs and sighs as he takes another swig.
You let his sarcasm roll off your shoulders. If you can deal with a teenager, you can deal with him. You feel him watching you as you stand straight.
“Anything else I can get you?” You offer.
“You’re not even curious about all the excitement?” He stretches an arm over the back of the couch, “there was a girl... you didn’t see her hanging around, did ya?”
He chuckles and your cheeks tinge with embarrassment. His unusual crassness puts you on edge. You shake your head.
“Think she’s gone,” you say.
“Mm, don’t remember her. Must’ve been boring,” he grumbles.
“I’m sure she was just as pretty as all the others.”
“Hm, sure,” he snorts.
You take the glasses out, the tense silence nipping at your heels. You return as he drains the coffee and stifles a belch. He holds out the mug.
“Any more?”
“Yes, sir,” you accept his cup, strolling through to fill it from the pot. As you come back again, his knees are set wide as he cracks his knuckles.
“So, what’s it like being married?” He ask abruptly.
You hold out his mug, trying not to show your surprise.
“Sir?”
“Well, you...” he looks at your hand decisively before he takes the mug, “were married, weren’t you? That bad?”
You go back to the low glass table and collect the last of the glasses, “it was nice,” you answer honestly, “steady, consistent...”
“Mm, so it wasn’t amicable?” He suggests as he presses the cup to his forehead.
“With due respect, my marriage is my marriage--”
“Where’s the ring? If he’s still around--”
“Sir,” you warn, trying not to let your agitation seep through.
“You never talk about him. Or your daughter.”
“It’s...” you sway in indecision between setting him straight and stomping off. “It’s work, sir. It’s not really relevant.”
He hums thoughtfully and sucks his teeth, “but you know all about me, don’t you?”
You grin wryly, “sir, I know how you like your suits pressed and hung and how you take your coffee,” you insist, “it’s work.”
“Work,” he narrows his eyes. “Not much time for a personal life. Guess I’m shitty like that.”
You frown, “I wouldn’t say--”
“You wouldn’t because you got a daughter to put through college. And an internship.”
You flinch and shake your head, “did I do something that--”
“No, I’m just being... sociable,” he measures his words. “It’s part of my job. Intel. I have to know everything about everyone. Didn’t realise before I know nothing about you.”
You part your lips, uncertain how to react. He’s hard to read. You can’t tell is he’s angry or what.
“If I wanted to, I could. That’s all I’m saying,” he shrugs and tastes his coffee.
“Right, sir,” you nod hesitantly, “I’m sorry If I said anything--”
“No, you don’t say much,” he stands, not bothering to keep the blanket over his pelvis. Instead it falls to the floor without a care, “that’s the problem.”
Before you can reply, he turns and struts away. You look away quickly and try to shake off his attitude. What’s gotten into him? You know it’s not you. You know this kind of behaviour. Like before, you can’t help but be reminded of those adolescent blow ups. At one time, you had them yourself.
Whatever’s going on with him, it should pass soon enough. You’re certain he’ll find some model to distract him. Or bury himself in his work like you. Hard to be upset when there’s a mess to clean up.
🔹
The day wears on as any and you leave thirteen hours after your arrival. You’re not unfamiliar to the long shifts but you’re less and less attuned to them. Your tailbone has that subtle ache which calls for a hot bath and sleep. You don’t know that you’ll have time for both.
The house is quiet when you leave. Nick has made himself elusive since the morning. You’re thankful for it, only seeing him to bring his meals and the few demands he had. He always seemed to be on the phone when you were near. No doubt he has his own work to tend to. It could be why he’s been so erratic.
Is that how you’d describe it?
You skip the bath and go straight to bed. A quick shower in the morning will do. You wake only hours later and begin a new day. A few more years and you can slow down; once Joey’s got her feet on the ground.
You head to work in a daze. You’ll wake up once you get moving. You enter the gate code and it buzzes furiously back at you. The red flash suggests you put in the wrong number. You try again. Several times to be certain.
Your phone shakes and startles you. You peer up at the sky, still in its early hues, and answer. You know without looking that it’s him.
“Hey, you set off the alarm. Stop.” Nick says flatly.
“Oh, uh, the code isn’t working--”
“I’m not home.”
“Oh, okay, but--”
“Go home,” he interrupts.
You stutter. Is he firing you?
“Sir--”
“Had to run off on a work trip. You need time off,” he says matter-of-fact, “so go.”
He doesn’t wait for your answer. The line clicks and you’re left in utter confusion. You stare at the screen. The call was barely a minute long.
Why would he lock you out? You work all the time when he’s out of town. So what’s changed? Your heart sinks as your dread wells up and fills your chest. It feels like he fired you.
You try to call back. It goes straight to voicemail. Either he has his phone set to away or he’s deliberately ignoring you.
You idle just before his gate as panic pulses through your skull. What did you do? You weren’t rude. You’re always painfully professional. You parse through the conversation from the morning before but can’t find anything that you did wrong. He acted strangely but you didn’t say anything about it.
So why is he doing this?
Your phone vibes.
'Go home.'
The text flashes at the top of the screen before the notification disappears. You sigh and through the cell phone. So, do you go back to the job boards and hope for the best or wait for your mercurial boss to make up his mind?
🔹
You’re restless. The first day you spend trying to keep yourself busy. You put the energy you would have spent cleaning up Nick’s house and work on the apartment. You even oil the greasy hinge on the kitchen cupboard and squeeze in a walk before dinner.
Joey doesn’t pick up either but you expect as much. She’s off having fun. When you were in college, you barely spoke to your parents. You were off having fun, meeting your husband...
The next day is much the same though there isn’t as much to do. You try to make yourself catch up on your reality TV indulgences but you can’t even focus on that. Joey texts to ask if it’s something important and you assure her to keep doing what she’s doing. She calls after dinner as you have a rare glass of wine.
“So, things are better?” You ask, trying not to betray your own worry.
“Oh, much better. I can’t believe I was freaking out. My boss... he can be a bit intense but he’s so awesome. Mm, you know he took me to this really awesome place for a business lunch. They had one of those conveyor belt things with the sushi.”
“That’s amazing,” you smile, “and how’s the special girl?”
“Mom,” she squeaks.
“What? I don’t even know her name. Give me something.”
“It’s nothingggggg.”
“Doesn’t sound like nothing.”
“Mom,” she croaks.
“Alright, fine, I can be patient but when you’re ready, you know she’s always welcome.”
“You are so cheesy,” she accuses.
“I can hear you blushing through the phone,” you chime tauntingly.
“Mom!”
“What? What’s going on? Did I forget something?” You play dumb.
“Stop it,” she growls.
You laugh and swirl the wine, no longer thirsty for it foggy lens. You sigh as your amusement recedes and you’re reminded why you broke the seal. You’re silent as the line turns to empty static.
“Mom?” Joey says and reality slaps you across the face.
“I’m sorry, I was just... you know, I think I’ll bring your dad some flowers tomorrow,” you say, “he’ll know what to do.”
“What do you mean?” She murmurs.
“Sitting with him helps me clear my mind,” you sigh.
“Yeah, but, what’s going on?”
You look down and exhale, “nothing big, just... life.”
“Ha, tell me about it. It just doesn’t stop,” she snickers.
“Right, well, I don’t wanna keep you from having fun or whatever--”
“Fun? Please. I’m looking over all these case files Andy gave me.”
“Andy?”
“My boss, you know? As nice as he is, he sure makes you work,” she tuts.
“Oh, I know the type,” you shake your head at the thought of your own boss; even in his absence, he’s persistent.

I found this random panel of Wade and Tony, do you know the context?
you're lucky that identifying deadpool issues by panel is exactly my mutant ability. this is deadpool (2013) #7!
fun fact! first deadpool issue i ever picked up.
time capsule issue (this deadpool run tended to do those), where we're back in the 70's, peter parker's only just starting to get his tingles, and tony stark is a suffering alcoholic.
a demon (yes, a demon), makes a deal with deadpool for wade to get iron man back into alcoholism – wade is down for this, whatevs, but, upon seeing tony's sorry state, has a change of heart.
you know, i hate this interaction, for the stupid implication that, deadpool, being a gun-for-hire who has killed maybe a couple dozen people, is somehow worse than tony stark - who sells the guns, and is complicit in the death of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people. i do not think wade is stupid enough to think that he, a single mercenary, is worse than a billionaire war-profiteerer, even with all his self-loathing tendencies. but, that's a thought for another time.
wade has a change of heart and dons the iron man suit to stop a meltdown at a power plant. very responsibly.
he outsmarts the demon, demon gets sent to hell, yadda yadda.
implication that uncle ben is in hell. hilarious.
yadda yadda nathan summers yadda yadda

Inklings Challenge 2024
What Was Found at the Bottom
Instruct the Ignorant
Raxxon wasn’t supposed to go through the wormhole. That part was an accident. The capsule wasn’t equipped for long term space travel, and so here he was. Dead in the waters of some new world. And something else was with him.
He knew what it was. Worse yet, he knew what it had been responsible for. Ever since the Ripple had reached Nemith-4, he’d known it, as if the whole universe had gotten larger, and was on its way to exile—as if it had been tilted by some unfathomable weight, and some new trajectory was set. Like they were all going to slide right off the universal plane one day, if nothing were done to stop it.
And the reason was standing before him here in a dull shirt bespattered with buttons—no doubt what passed as a uniform. It spoke a language he couldn’t understand—the Man, the race that broke their world. He could see even from here in the depths of the water that it was far worse than he’d imagined.
The Man in the uniform, with his weapons and his instruments of broken peace, stared at Raxxon with mouth agape. As Raxxon watched, he swallowed, and inched toward a box on the wall, as if, if he moved slowly enough, Raxxon wouldn’t notice. A buzzing filled the chamber. “This is the captain…” he spoke into the box. But it just kept buzzing. Raxxon found he knew the words now. They were just old, cut off and bent away from the living tongue of the stars.
The Man’s shoulders fell, and he forced himself to stand up straight. Whatever emotions he was expressing disgusted Raxxon. They were base—vile. How could such a pitiful little creature have been allowed to disjoint the entire universal plane?
The Man spoke again. He was sweating, and his dark eyes were fixed on Raxxon with intensity. “What are you?” he asked. “And how did you get on this ship?”
So they had wrought such damage to themselves that they were cut off then. The Man had obviously never seen a creature other than himself before. It made sense. The relationships between creatures were a fundamental good of the universe. That was how they were made, because that was how their maker was. Something…not good…would only bring this. Isolation. Snapping off connections like twigs. What sabotage. Raxxon wanted to spew this world from his mouth. He was only here to get off. He could take the power source he needed and go. It couldn’t do any good to this creature, this Man, that had once been set by the Creator to crown the worlds, and instead had made himself into this.
Raxxon felt something in him slipping, sliding, pulled unceasingly in. “I am here for your power source,” he hissed.
The Man’s eyes darted towards a nearby door, and back. Did he wish to leave? Or was that where the power source was?
“Why? What do you know about it?”
“I need it. For my own purposes.”
But the Man shook his head minutely, never taking his eyes from the creature in front of him, the one he would have known if he weren’t cut off. “You can’t,” he said. “It’ll cripple the ship. My men, they’ll all die.”
Raxxon flicked his tongue, and tilted his head. “That is not my business. You have brought that on yourselves.”
“I won’t let you do it.” The man’s hand was slipping toward his weapon. He held Raxxon’s gaze so fiercely that Raxxon almost didn’t notice. But he didn’t really care either. The Man may have held a terrible power, but it was crippled by his insignificance. Raxxon treaded toward the area from which he could feel familiar energy waves emitting—the door the Man had earlier glanced toward. There was a pinging sound, and whatever the Man had thrown from the weapon glanced harmlessly off Raxxon. Yet he had meant harm.
Raxxon turned on him. “It is my prerogative to get to my ordered place,” he said. “You cannot stop me.“
One of the things that had been thrown from the weapon had apparently bounced back to the Man. His appendage was dripping red liquid. The consequence of his own action. Something deep in Raxxon ground like a rock through thick-grained sand. Why did the Creator allow such a thing to have occurred to his exquisitely worked worlds? It was not right his glory should be so marred. Everywhere else, like a mirror, one could see it. But was—this—what would become of the rest of the worlds now, as the Ripple shifted successively through all of time and space?
Raxxon studied the Man. Even here still, he was sure, the fundamental prerogative of living beings was to live. “I can save you,” he coaxed. “If you will let me have the power source.”
The Man leaned sagging against the wall, but when Raxxon turned back to the door, he threw himself between it and Raxxon, his futile weapon in hand. “I can’t let you,” he croaked.
“But,” Raxxon said, confused. “I have promised to save you. Would you die instead?”
“If I have to,” the Man said, and it was low and quiet and certain. His hand twitched, and Raxxon thought he was preparing to use his weapon again, but his hand came down on a button on the wall at his side. Nothing happened. Raxxon had already taken the liberty of ensuring the human devices could not aid the Man. “I have already gained control of your electronics,” he said. “As I said, you cannot stop me.”
The Man was clutching at his arm, casting his eyes around. Then suddenly he became—more solid. He looked from a panel, to Raxxon.
“There is one way still,” he said.
“But you cannot do that without dying,” said Raxxon. “So there is no way.”
The Man in the uniform with all the buttons lurched to a bright red box, opened it, and drove an emergency ax through the wall. Sparks flew and the doors sealed shut, overridden by the emergency protocols. Water poured in. There would be no power source for Raxxon. There would be no escape from the water for the Man.
He had chosen a choice that was not possible. It was not a choice Raxxon had ever known to be made, because he had never known the parameters of death that made such a choice possible. But in the time waves of the universe, this felt like a choice that had been made before.
“I do not understand,” Raxxon said. He was…marveling. “The prerogative is to live. You forgo it.”
“The prerogative is my men,” said the Man, his boots splashing in the water. “There’s forty other guys in that other room that aren’t going to die now. They get to live.”
“You’d give…yourself? For them?” Raxxon felt the universal constant shifting beneath him. “What deems them worthy?”
The man actually chuffed a small laugh. “Nothing. They’re my guys, is all. It’s what you do, if you’re a man. But you wouldn’t understand that.”
Raxxon was beginning to. The world was forming itself anew around him. He had known of course that Love was the source of all the gravity in the universe, that it was the law of time and space. All beings knew that, outside of this benighted planet. He knew many kinds of love from the Creator’s hand, each a fascinating aspect of its Originator. He knew love was given. But this was love beyond his ken. He had never conceived of a love so immense it could give to this degree. This—this was a love that changed the course of the universe. It was a revelation.
The Man stood there weak and bleeding and ready to die, with his eyes shining fierce and sure and afraid. Raxxon saw the world unfold into such beauties as he had never dared dream of.
“I did not know,” he sputtered out, “that He was like *that*.”
The man wiped blood on the side of his dull shirt. He tossed his weapon into the water. It was useless now. The man was going to die, and he looked…tired, but not like he particularly minded. He was rubbing his forehead with his sleeve as if he had won.
“My Lord, what have you wrought here?” Raxxon breathed.
The water reached a panel or two, and suddenly the room flashed blindingly bright. The Man, shielding his eyes from the sparks, fell limp into the waters.
Raxxon strode through the rising depths to the Man’s side, studying his face, his form. “You have become the least of these,” he said, “but to you has been revealed such magnitudes of love as none have before conceived. He has honored you, and you have honored me.” Raxxon lifted the Man so that his head was above the water. For the first time since the Ripple, he felt steady. “I will forgo my power source,” he told the unconscious form. “Perhaps another way may come.”
He left the Man there, the Man and his power source and the other men who’s lives had been lent such glory, who were even now pounding on the door and rushing in against the water to shore it up and pull the captain out. He did not worry for the Man. The world they had torn apart had only become a place of love that showed itself deeper than the rest of the worlds could know. If love was like that, it could live past all deaths.
